Welcome to the first official NationStates Fashion Week! This event, to be held in Monterra, Kalosia, will see the fashion powerhouses of the world come together to showcase the latest fashion trends from across the multiverse.

NationStates Fashion Week, or NSFW for short, is a joint collaboration between the Kalosian Fashion Society and the Kalosian Chamber of Commerce.

This event will be completely safe for work, thank you.

You will be free to roleplay as anyone who is involved in NSFW, including fashion designers, models, journalists reporting on the event, as well as visitors.

The IC format for the first NSFW will be as follows: Fashion houses/designers/companies (hereafter "fashion houses") can apply to host a runway show. This runway event will be held at the Monterra International Exhibition Hall. Fashion houses can choose whether their event will showcase only men's fashion, women's fashion, or fashion for all genders. This event is intended to showcase fashion for Autumn/Winter 2021, but with the universality of this event in mind, Spring/Summer 2021 shows may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

OOCly, the event will be curated by yours truly (Kalosia). Signups for new fashion houses are CLOSED.

You are welcome to register fashion houses from your nation that are interested in hosting runway shows. Please be mindful of the following:

• If your application is accepted, I will copy over your fashion house's information to the IC thread, so make sure your application is as detailed as you want it to be for RP purposes.
• ICly, your fashion house will be responsible for the expenses of hosting a runway show.
• There will be roughly 3-4 shows a day. Pay attention to the claimed slots in the schedule when choosing a date.
• You may choose whether to showcase men's fashion, women's fashion, or fashion for all genders. That said, we aim to have a balanced event.
• NSFW is an inclusive event and I reserve the right to curate the event to reflect these values.

As for other characters (models, reporters, visitors, etc), the RP will remain open during the event and you will be free to RP at anytime without my prior approval. Just keep in mind that this is a peacetime event, free of force majeure events (with one exception — pandemic-style social distancing measures will be applied during the event and it is expected that everyone will take the appropriate precautions). Also, I trust that you will be able to communicate with one another — follow common sense and don't godmod.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try my best to answer them! This is my first time hosting an event of this kind so please bear with me as we navigate this together.

NationStates Fashion Week will be roleplayed somewhat in real time, with the IC dates following the RP schedule. This schedule will be updated as the specific details of each day emerge. As a reminder, we're looking to have 3-4 runway shows a day.

Benvenitu a Monterë!

Monterra (Kalosian: Monterë) is the capital of the Republic of Kalosia. Boasting a population of ~1-1.5 million, it is also the most populous city on the island of Kalos. It has not only the seat of government but also the nation's economic centre. Being at the heart of the nation, it is no wonder that there is just so much to do in this city.

Monterra is no stranger to hosting international cultural events. The Kalosian capital had earlier hosted the 22nd, 27th, 43rd, and 75th WorldVision Song Contests in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2019 respectively. In 2016, while preparations for the 50th WorldVision Song Contest were underway in nearby Kasin, the city undertook the duty of hosting the World Hit Festival for the first time, an honour that it would take up again for the 52nd World Hit Festival just last year.

In addition to holding the seat of government, Monterra is also the nation’s economic centre. With the potential revenue generated from an event as prestigious as an international fashion week, it was decided that the first NationStates Fashion Week was to be held in Monterra.

About 30 minutes to an hour just outside the city lies Archaeopoli, ruins from the ancient Greek civilization that resided in Kalosia long ago. In fact, the name of the island that makes up Kalosia, Kalos, came from them. But even within the city there is La Vetša Tšita, the old town area where you can be nostalgic and indulge in the elements of Kalosia's past. Food and culture wise, you'll find a lot of the same elements that you may see in our neighbouring islands, Corsica and Sardinia*. As Monterra is a coastal town, do make sure to indulge in our local, freshly caught seafood!

Fashion house description: Established by Head Secretary Jamie and an agglomeration of some of the most prominent fashion figures and celebrities of Valentine Z, alongside common men and businessmen alike, The Orange Paw seeks to redefine the fashion trend of Valentine Z not by designing and putting up the most outlandish outfits with questionable animal ethics*, but rather to make every kind of outfits and dresses unbounded by social status, race, and any other demographic barriers. Alongside Valentine Z's inclusive attitude on almost everything imaginable, The Orange Paw defies the norms and lets people express themselves as they see fit, as well as proving that 16 feet tall (on average) Valentians can still flaunt their fabulousness. * That is, The Orange Paw does not use animal products.

Details of planned runway show: The show will involve quite a handful of the prominent characters of Valentine Z. The range of outfits also varies A LOT, from normal everyday causal wear that a few models will present (such as Clarissa's evening dress), to a full-on Valkyrie Armor that Valentijn is fond of wearing. [Basically most of what you will see on the link that takes you to the characters, alongside many other surprises I might have thought of.]

As of right now, I might not have a lot of visuals, other than in that thread, but hey, I am definitely stoked for the IC/RP and will provide more details eventually. ^^
