Veraveux, Galasie

Commerce Minister Sylvaine Cornet announced today that Galasian trade relations with its various LMU and LFN members will continue through the year with some minor adjustments. Experts believe this is a continuation of the Republican Party election strategy that some are calling "The New Normal" as Republicans attempt to convince the people that their policies and methods over the last few years are a new and better way to govern Galasie. Both Prime Minister Henri Blanquer and Economic Minister Jean-Luc Calle have praised the deals and called them efforts by a great many people on both sides. Minister Cornet has stated that a trade deal with Amalia is also closed to be agreed upon and that she hopes to hash out the details with her Amalian counterpart very soon.

Cornet has been an especially high profile cabinet member in these past few months and some are saying that she is an extremely likely replacement for Calle as Economic Minister who announced that he would not stand for election in June and would be retiring from politics. The sixty-two year old has been a long time party stalwart and held various positions in government since 1981. Calle was often seen as one of the furthest left remaining Republicans, his retirement will be a blow to the left-leaning Republicans since the exodus of the Radicals.

After meeting in New Cuir City today, Galasian Commerce Minister Sylvaine Cornet and Amalian Commerce Secretary Clayton Gardner were able to finalize and sign the long awaited trade deal between the two nations. With both the Amalian Senate and Galasian National Assembly approving the trade trade deal, today’s signing was largely a formality. However, it was delivered with much pomp and fanfare by the people involved.

Minister Cornet called the deal, “an important step in both economically tying [Galasie and Amalia] closer together and sending a powerful message of the unity of the democratic nations of the world.”

The Minister also reiterated that she hoped that this would merely be the first of many deals between the two nations going forward.

Clayton in agreement with Minister Corent said the following “It is deals like these that build the bonds between the brotherhood of nations, in steps to build a more peaceful world for all to live and learn in.”

The Secretary also praised the civil servants and diplomats from both nations for their work in putting the deal together, saying “I am sure a lot of people spent a lot of sleepless nights pouring over this agreement so we could have a nice and clean version for the papers. And I am sure I speak for both of us when I extend my thanks to them for their hard work.”

After both delegates, along with a few others shared a few closing remarks.

"This nation has the means to end this war in a definitive and elegant manner, we seek not destruction and conflict but a balance of power and restoration to peace, and it will be done with reason and justice from beginning to end, and the world will be grateful, only then will they see the way to true peace."

"They paint us as if we have lost the democratic traditions this nation was founded on, that can not, is not, further from the truth in this nation, do they not know what we went through? the 30 years of war that was started by men who did not listen to the people? This Republic will weather the storm, we will fight to the death and win, then welcome our enemies into our great state."

Arctic investment

>Serkaria has once again invested into its arctic territories building yet more pipelines, railways and even drilling platforms in the North Sea. Cities such as Murmansk, Norilsk, Arkhangelsk and many others had their railroads improved and will now have new trains running on them with improved weight and storage capacity. The updates to the infrastructure should now be able to provide these cities with supplies year round even during the strongest snowstorms. Among such projects being passed Catherine Kohut, the Serkarian minister of infrastructure, has come out with other plans such as the upgrade of the TransSiberian railway to high speed or even maglev, but so far there have been no news ever since the project was first proposed in 1987 under Olga II. Other projects floating around are the Tiksi to Vladivostok and the Kamchatka peninsula railways along with the Magadan branch root that would provide the much needed infrastructure to the hard to access areas of Serkaria.

The Royal Navy of Eilean announced a complete overhaul of its tactics, to be centered around the defense of the Queen in her non-stop travels. As the Queen treads waters from Atlantic Ocean all the way to the Mare Tirenno as part of a greater Imperial Tour of both colony and ally of Great Eilean, it has become quite painfully apparent that the safeguarding of the Queen aboard the HMS Empress of Sagaria has now officially taken top priority for the Royal Navy. As the Queen attempts to sail across everything from the mightiest of oceans to the puddles that build at home from incessant rains, many in Eilean have taken amusement at the Navy's scramble to intercept and protect the Queen as the Imperial Tour sludges onward, to what goal exactly remaining unknown. The Royal Navy's tactics have shifted so greatly, in fact, that the very ships the Eileanic use have altered, as they shift from large cruisers and aircraft carriers to fast moving corvettes, or anything really, so long as it's fast enough to keep up with the Empress of Sagaria as it steams onward, on an interminable quest to voyage across as many trivial destinations as possible, all in the name of Imperial Prestige.

The top commander of the Eileanic Royal Navy, in a press conference, merely had this to comment about the whole affair: “Screw it, we’ll just defend the waters the Queen treads on. The rest of the ocean can piss off. Now, if you'll excuse me, we have to deploy the next patrol to the Mediter-wait, what? She's already in the Atlantic? Bloody hell, move to intercept! I thought they would get there next week! Are you still recording? Stop, this isn't part of the official statement we're releasing to the public today, you bloody nitwit!”

Annual Military Budget and Production Summary 1991
Information Withheld From Public Until Budget Approval

To the Madam Premier of our Union,
Meetings amongst the commanders of our armed forces have lead to several important changes, but as it stands the brunt of the 1991 Production Summary will be focused on improving our current naval capacities in order to stay ahead of the changing geo-political climate. While war is not an expected outcome for some time, the Advisory Board on Military Spending has concluded that the need for submarines is unnecessary as to the current goals of the UASR, along with additional additions and upgrades. The following lists all proposed changes to the Army and Navy.

    - The UAN Dolphin and UAN Orca are to be scrapped and salvaged.
    - Four new destroyers are to be added to the Gulf Fleet, these destroyers are to be built as the Kinshasa Class.
    - The UAN Maasai and UAN Bushman are to be remodeled to have expanded sonar capabilities, under the new designation of Bushman Class
    - The 112th Rifle Division shall receive artillery training, and a new artillery division shall be trained and deployed to Ethiopia.

Upon approval these changes will begin effective immediately.
Signed: High Commander Sophia Hawthorne

>Today the Duma will hold a final vote on the legality of GMOs and another on the limitations of gene patents based off the data gathered from the field trials done by the ministry of agriculture. The choices on the first vote will be: Fully legal, legal with some limitations and illegal. While the other vote will be: All genes, nonhuman genes or no genes. Most of the population has already made up its mind on making at the very least human genes illegal to be patented, but the other option is still up in the air for the bulk of people so when the vote finishes it will most likely decide their opinion on the matter.

Italian Soldiers on Parade in Roma

The Army Reform and Reorganization Act passed the national legislature late last week, marking a sweeping reform of the Army’s current structure. The current formations of the Army, the Divisioni Bersaglieri Garibaldi, Cesano, and Chieti will face a mixture of inactivation and reassignment as the Army modernizes and reforms itself and its current structure and tactical organization. The Divisione Bersaglieri Garibaldi was inactivated in Roma this week, although the First Brigade of the Division will be kept active as a purely ceremonial unit, to be kept as a ceremonial guard in Roma and other major landmarks throughout the nation. The Divisioni Chieti and Cesano, however, were reassigned to newly created formations.

As of 1991, the Italian Army will be comprised of three Divisions, named Acqui, Folgore, and Alpini. The internal structure of the Divisions is also to be altered, with each Division comprised of four brigades and a command element; with each brigade comprised of three regiments, a cavalry battalion, and a fire support battalion. Each regiment, in turn, will be comprised of three battalions, the battalion being the largest formation of the Army to not be restructured.

Divisione Acqui, to be headquartered at Forte Garibaldi in Napoli, will be comprised mainly of mechanized infantry formations. Each of the brigades, in addition to being mechanized, will also have artillery attached, allowing each brigade to have organic fire support. Divisione Acqui will be comprised of the Brigades Ariete, Liguri, Pinerolo, and Sassari.

Divisione Folgore, to be headquartered at Forte Vittorio Veneto in Firenze, will be classified as an airmobile formation. Divisione Folgore will be the only Division in the Army to be equipped with helicopters, primarily the Agusta-Bell 212 Helicopter for transport and airmobility, the A129 “Mangusta” Attack Helicopter for fire support. Divisione Folgore will be comprised of the Brigades Friuli, Mercurio, Tarquinia, and Vega.

Divisione Alpini, to be headquartered in Forte Giulia in San Rocco, will be designated as the Army’s alpine formation. The Divisione Alpini, like Divisione Acqui, will also have artillery units attached to it’s brigades for organic fire support. However, on top of this, the Divisione will have an engineering battalion attached for combat support. While the Alpini are the only army unit to have engineer units attached at the moment, plans to raise and attach additional engineering battalions to the rest of the Army are in place, according to Roma. The Alpini will also be the only formation in the Italian Army to be trained in mountain warfare, distinguishing the Divisione from the rest of the army further. The Divisione Alpini will be comprised of the Brigades Gardesani, Guiliani, Pennini, and Taurinense.

Italy builds the following for 1991:
  • Divisione Acqui: 5 SP, +Mech (+5), +Artillery (+2)
  • Divisione Folgore: 5 SP, +Air Assault (+5), Helicopters (+2 Army converted to 1 Air, +2 Air)
  • Divisione Alpini: 5 SP, +Mountain Training (+2), Artillery (+2), and Engineers (+3)

And the Divisione Bersaglieri Garibaldi is inactivated, and the Divisioni Chieti and Cesano are reassigned.

Factbooks will be updated….before the IC year ends I swear…

Nuclear Dealings

Robert Lacey sat at the head on a long table with a number of generals and intelligence officials. The topics of the conversation dealt with the PCCA, the GBA, the internal matters that pertained to Amalia, most of which ended with the same lines of reasoning that were built upon in the year’s pass. Work on bringing the GBA back into the fold and being the stronger of the two powers that were the PCCA and Amalia. That was till a minor intelligence officer spoke up, Lacey looked at him before mentally preparing himself for what was coming.
The officer spoke, “I once again want to bring up the idea of denuclearization of the Amalian Continent, I know it’s out there but that would allow us to get into the GBA with a more formal backing and would make it easier in reuniting with the PCCA, if we went down that route.”
Lacey sighed, “For the last time I have no interest in going down that route with the PCCA no one in this government does, besides the USAR could very easily turn it against us or the more likely they could use it as an excuse to go wherever they please on the idea of stopping rogue nations on made-up claims of nuclear weapons.”

Tarazed Commits to Continuing Trade Agreements

Recent additions to the skyline in Daramonty as international trade with the LFN booms.

Tarazedian political circles have been busy throughout the start of this year as work continues to not only maintain existing trade relations, but also ensure these can be efficiently expanded in the years to come. To this end, the Tarazedian government has approved the continuation of previously agreed upon trade treaties with Galasie, Osphen, the United Kingdom and it's colonies, as well as Italy. A diplomatic trading mission was also dispatched to Sagaria with the official purpose of improving inter-colonial ties while building the bedrock for a sizeable trade deal.

Back on home soil, the Quorum has approved a Senate missive calling for the Directorate of Agriculture to expand its already developing program on developing more energy efficient crop seeds and livestock rearing methods as current climate projections suggest that the climate across parts of Sutherland may deteriorate towards becoming uninhabitable due to excessive heat over the next half a century. Tarazedian climate and argonomic experts have also called for hydroponic farm schemes to be set up across Western Sutherland as a trial to investigate if the ongoing desertification of the region can be either delayed or reversed.

The Tarazedian Directorate of Defence is also due to announce the budget for the Tarazedian Armed Forces for the period 1990-1991. It is expected that the navy will recieve the largest percentage of any new investment as it seeks to keep up with Tarazed's regional rival, China - with whom it currently has a naval power parity. While Tarazed currently does not field an aircraft carrier, one is expected to be announced by the year 2000, as the expansion of the surface fleet takes priorty. It is also expected that ICBM countermeasures and non-nuclear ballistic missiles will see significant investment.

One more year has passed since the death of Trotsky, the father of the nation

Like every year, Marshal Simon Carillo opens the ceremony

"Comrades and workers from all corners our beloved nation and beyond, we have gathered today to remember the father of the nation and the union. The father of our principles, the one who fought for what we are today. His name is Leon Trotsky. I'm here on behalf of the council to send a message, a message that our hero said when we took down the former regime and brought liberty and freedom to the people. The Revolution has begun !"

Downtown Roma Empty on Sunday as Fed. Finalizes Budgeting

The Federal Government unveiled it’s investment schemes for the fiscal year 1991 in a press conference in the Federal District of Roma last week. The 1991 investment scheme is largely targeted at economic and industrial growth, as well as continued investments into the agricultural industry.

The major focus of the 1991 investment plan revolves around building Italian industry and infrastructure. Industrial development, in particular exactment and refinement of natural resources available domestically, is seen as a significant priority. Furthermore, the construction of the Strait of Messina Bridge, the approval of which was given last year, is to commence on April first of this year, marking the start of the second fiscal quarter. The bridge, complete with both lanes for cars and rail lines, would enhance economic productivity in Southern Italy, especially in the Messina and Reggio Di Calabria metropolitan areas. Such a bolster in productivity has been considered a top priority for Roma, as the south continues to lag behind the northern regions of the country, which in turn has stalled national economic growth, and further hindered further development of other projects the federal government has strived to take.

In addition to industrial expansion and improvements in infrastructure, the 1991 federal budget continues the federal government’s investments into the agricultural sector of the Italian economy. Farmers and ranchers will continue to be able to purchase new mechanical equipment from the Department of Agriculture with interest-free loans, in addition to receiving training on how to use the newly acquired equipment, as established last year as the Department finalized key contracts with Iveco and other industrial firms. The FUSI System, in addition to this, will still be eligible to receive additional grants from the Federal Government for agricultural programs, therefore lowering the costs of attaining the higher education for the farmers and ranchers.

Beyond investing in the agriculture and industrial sectors of the Italian economy, Roma has opted to ramp up consumer spending, education, and investments in the financial sector of the economy. Firenze, as the financial capital of the western bloc, will see a massive investment in particular, as Italian economists predict an investment into Firenze will gradually leak out into other major economic centers of the nation. Furthermore, the Federal Government has announced a new scheme to further drive the general public towards attending universities and post secondary educations. Beginning in the 1991 fall semester, incoming freshmen at FUSI affiliated institutions and technical schools can apply for federally backed loans without interest for five years after graduation and the securement of stable employment, with the amount of Auroes loaned depending on plans of study, income levels, and the school that a postsecondary student plans on attending. Other components of the scheme also include programs to allow for a “good student” discount, a reduction on interest rates for a student if they maintain a GPA over 3.0.

Total for 1991: 11.71

  • Extraction (Industrial): 1.71 Points
  • Infrastructure (Industrial): 1.5 Points
  • Crop Sustainability (Agricultural): 1 Point
  • Livestock Sustainability (Agricultural): 1 Point

Il Compleanno di un Paese

Roma, Romagna

17 March, il diciassettesimo di Marzo. On this day in 1861, the Kingdom of Italy was officially unified, with the Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont in the north being united with their brethren in the Two Sicilies, in the south of the country. 1861 would mark the year that Giuseppe Garibaldi handed sovereignty over the Two Sicilies over to Victor Emmanuel II, sacrificing his dream of a united Italian Republic for the greater good, that greater good being the long overdue unification of the nation both men loved. 1991 marks the 130th anniversary of this momentous occasion, and the 50th anniversary of consecutive parades held in Rome to honor the occasion. La Parata di Unificazione, held every year since 1941, even in times of great crisis and despair, has become a grand symbol of Italian pride. Every year, the parades in Roma attract tens of thousands of Italians from across the nation from all walks of life, and many more Italians from across the world have flocked to the city at least once to witness the early spring festivals and celebrations that ensue. This year, being the 130th anniversary of the unification, would be an extraordinarily event, one that would certainly be remembered for many years to come.

At 1200, the parade commenced. Nations all over the world, friends of Italy, had all sent contingents to participate in the unification parade. Nations from Amalia to Opshen were all invited, primarily within the League of Free Nations and the Latin Bloc. Such was a timeless tradition, as it showed that Italy would forever have friends in all corners of the globe, especially in these times. As was tradition, the foreign contingent was allowed to march first.

The Galasian contingent was comprised of the Galasian Marines, Galasie’s naval infantry, arguably the best of what the nation had to offer. Allowing the Galasians to kick off the parade was a no brainer, as Galasie had faithfully been a friend to Italy since it’s unification in 1861. The Galasians and Italians had long been friends, as both nations proudly associated as members of the Latin Bloc. More importantly, the Galasians and Italians were nothing less than brothers. They had lived and worked alongside each other for decades; and fought alongside each other through the Hell that was Sagarochina. As such, the Galasians were allowed to march first, kicking off the parata with a round of cheers from the crowd. The Galasian Marines proudly marched down the street, their polished rifles glinting under the brilliant springtime sun.

In quick succession came the Osphenians. A longtime friend of the Italians, Osphen had long stood as a partner in the Latin Bloc, working alongside the Galasians, Italians, and Scotatrovians to build a brighter future for a stronger Latin World. The Osphenian contingent was the 84th Mechanized Infantry Regiment, First Mechanized “Brontos” Division. The Brunswick green coats and white trousers were a colorful sight to say the least, as the sun glinted off of their bright and colorful uniforms. A distinct click could be heard at nearly every step taken, the clicking of each jackboot almost sounding like a gunshot on its own.

The Eileanic, not to be outdone, were quick to follow the 84th Mechanized Regiment. The United Kingdom had long stood as a friend of the Kingdom of Italy, partly a product of the close economic and political ties that both nations had shared for decades as part of the League of Free Nations, and partly a product of the Eileanic Queen, Gloriana, being a cousin of Umberto Tomasso, the Italian King. The Eileanic were represented by the Third Royal Westamptonshire Regiment of Foot, one of the premier Regiments of the Eileanic Army. The Eileanic were a brilliant sight to behold, as their scarlet red uniforms shone beautifully in the springtime sun. Their scarlet red uniforms, a fine component of Eileanic military tradition, was complemented well by their pith helmets, a tribute to the mighty Empire that Eilean would forever be. The leading column proudly carried the Union Jack, drawing a wave of cheers from the crowd.

Next came the Amalians. Many Amalians had Italian blood in their roots, a product of the great exodus from Italy in the 19th century, where Italians immigrated en masse to the United States in search of economic opportunity, flocking to the urban sprawls of New Werwich. The United States was proudly represented by the 101st Airborne Division, Le Aquile Urlante, an iconic air assault formation of the United States Army. The olive and khaki uniforms Le Aquile donned were a classic design, one that would be forever iconic in military fashion circles. The brilliantly polished Garand rifles glowed magnificently in the sunlight as they marched down the street. The first row of soldiers proudly carried the Amalian flag, drawing a wave of cheers from the spectators. Alongside the Amalian Flag, the classic Italian tricolor was proudly carried alongside it, a tribute to the many Italians who had immigrated to Amalia with little more then a few loose coins in their pockets and a heart full of dreams of a bright future. The Amalians, in short, would forever be welcome Italy as famiglia.

Not to be outdone, the Tarazedians were quick in succession. The Tarazedians, like their Amalian cousins, had Italian blood aplenty flowing through their veins. Many Tarazedians had family, both ancient and living, that had immigrated to Tarazed from Italia in search of a better life following the unification of Italy and great exodus of the latter 19th century from Sicilia, Calabria, and other regions of the Italian South. Now, after generations of life in Tarazed, all would be welcome back to the homeland with open arms. Elements of the Tarazedian Army’s 5th Armored Division “Dragonsbane”, I Draghi , rolled down the pavement, their mighty war machines symbolic of Tarazed’s military prowess. Their seemingly omnipotent metal beasts rocked the very earth under their tread. The shaking of the earth was almost reminiscent back to the war elephants that Hannibal had used to wreck havoc on the countryside of Italia during the days of antiquity. The beasts of war, the ones made of steel and carrying the Tarazedian Flag to be specific, would always be welcome in the streets of Roma.

The Tarazedians were the final non Italian contingent to participate in la parata. The Italians themselves were, however, slow to follow, as a flyover of Panavia Tornadoes left a trail of red, white, and green smoke in their path.

The first Italian formation of la parata was the First Brigade, Divisione Bersaglieri Garibaldi. Though the rest of the Division was inactivated earlier this year, the First Brigade, was kept online as a purely ceremonial formation. Now, the delay made sense, as the Bersaglieri’s fast pace of march would have meant even the mighty Tarazedian tanks would have been trampled. The Bersaglieri Garibaldi, though they marched fast, were still a sight to behold. Their bright red jackets with green detailings were a perfect tribute to the legendary hero’s campaign in the Italian South in the 1860s, in the drive to unite north and south once and for all. Their wide brimmed hats stood out from the traditional peaked caps the rest of the Italian Army, adorned with the black capercaillie feathers that had become iconic of Italy’s light infantry formations. The only thing that could drown out the cheers of the crowd were the bugles, as each company’s bugler relayed orders and corrections via the brass instruments. As the Brigade continued to march, the crowds continued to roar in approval.

Next came elements of the Divisione Folgore. Though only reactivated recently, and with many soldiers and pilots still in training, the Division was simply too iconic of a Italian military unit to not be allowed to march in the parade. The Divisione Folgore is the Army’s airmobile formation, their extensive use of helicopters and helicopter gunships proving a reliable tactic ever since the anti communist campaigns in Sagarochina that the Division participated in. In fact, many of the current commissioned officers and senior enlisted personnel were veterans of the war in Sagarochina, having been recruited from other Army formations to rejoin the airborne Folgore Division leading up to and during its reactivation this year, as their experience in the air would prove invaluable during future combat exercises. The formation of the Divisione Folgore that was participating was the Brigata del Vega, one of the most senior and experienced brigades of the Division. They were also accompanied by the Division’s aviation brigade, as a sortie of Agusta-Bell 212 Gunships and A129 “Mangusta” Attack Helicopters flew overhead, the spearhead formation of aircraft a perfect accompaniment for the soldiers marching on the ground.

Not to be outdone, the Divisione Acqui was quick to follow. Unlike their air born colleagues, the soldiers of Divisione Acqui were mechanized infantry, not airmobile infantry. The Divisione Acqui’s contribution today was the Brigata Sassari, along with the Brigade’s attached artillery battalion. The crowds were greeted not by columns of soldiers marching down the street, but rather well polished armored fighting vehicles, adorned with the Italian tricolor. Neat rows of Dardo Infantry Fighting Vehicles rolled down the pavement, the armor that was usually coated in the dust and mud of the proving grounds and the battlefield replaced with brightly shined and polished metal, that one could arguably see their reflection in. The leading row was proudly adorned with the varying flags, including the Italian tricolor, the flag of the Italian Army, and even the insignia of the Division and Brigade, drawing a round of cheers from the crowd. Next came a row of Palmaria SPGs, the self propelled artillery pieces currently in service with the Army’s mechanized infantry formations. The self propelled guns were followed by a second wave of Dardo infantry fighting vehicles, the neat and polished rows once again failing to displease.

The Alpini, eager to follow behind their mechanized friends, were quick to follow. The Divisione Alpini, Italy’s mountain warfare division, had contributed the Brigata Guiliani for today’s festivities. The Brigata Guiliani was arguably Italy’s best alpine formation, it’s namesake derived from the mighty Julian Alps that spanned the northeastern portion of the nation, in the State of Veneto-Guiliana, where the Brigata was also headquartered. The Alpini, like their Bersaglieri counterparts, stood out from the every day Italian soldier, thanks to the Capello alpine, their standard parade headgear. The single black feathers that adorned each capello, which were plucked from the ravens that populated the Italian countryside, had long earned the Alpini the nickname Le Penne Nere, a name that has stuck ever since. The soldiers of the Brigata marched onward in a seemingly awkward fashion, as many were not used to marching on solid pavement, having had to scale the mountains of the mighty Alps, and other mountains across the globe, during nearly every combat operation that formation had ever taken part in. Nonetheless, Le Penne Nere still earned a hefty cheer from the crowd.

The final formation to participate in the march was the first Brigade of the Divisione San Marco. Unlike their colleagues, the soldiers of the Divisione San Marco did not belong to the Army. Instead, the Divisione was part of the Navy, as a formation of the Royal Marine Corps. Despite a running joke that the Marines and the Army would be forever at odds, both seemed to put aside their sibling rivalry for the day, opting to focus on celebrating their nation’s birthday. Unlike the traditional khaki color of the Army’s dress uniforms, the Divisione San Marco took a radically different approach. Each soldier proudly wore their navy blue jacket, the red and gold trimmings standing out brilliantly from the more reserved jacket. This was paired with navy blue trousers, which tucked into white gaiters and black boots. Each Marine marched with rifle on their shoulder, the polished carcano with bayonet gleaming under the bright light. The leading battalion of the brigade proudly carried the Italian tricolor, along with the flags bearing the insignia of the Marine Corps and the Divisione San Marco.

As the parade wound down and the crowds began to disperse, the party had quite literally just started all over the nation. Many bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues would be packed to capacity tonight, as eating, drinking, and partying would be on the agenda for Italians across the nation. Many concert halls and sporting stadiums would be packed as displays of unapologetic patriotism became the center piece of entertainment for the evening. As the sun set, fireworks illuminated the sky, as brilliant explosions of green, white, and red filled the skies of every city, town, and countryside village in the nation. What a time to be alive.

72 for legalisation
36 for partial legalisation
27 for keeping it illegal

17 for all genes
47 non human genes
71 no genes

Site 13 Incident, Part 1.

Postby Yottabota » Sat May 08, 2021 5:59 pm

INCIDENT REPORT: 0001033

Date: February 12th, 1991
Location: Site 13, Mozambique SR
Time: 0130

The missile silo site held a tight security schedule, members of the Mozambique Communal Guard took great pride in the protection of this important regional defense platform for quite some time. It stood as the first line of defense if South Africa had decided to launch a more ambitious assault against the United African Syndicalist Republics, but that never came to fruition; now the silo sites dormant but vigilant. With the decree of Premier Amelia Armstrong this missile site would soon be dismantled and it's L(ong) R(ange) O(rdinance) D(evice) or LROD-31 would be retired and disassembled to be used for something involving the newly formed Space Agency. That, however, was scheduled for the end of the year so until then the site was to be maintained and staffed as normal. The LROD-31, codenamed "Archangel", would never see retirement.

The security gate of the facility was manned by three armed guards, two integrated metal detectors that would scan the bottom of vehicles coming in and out of the base, a mounted machine gun nest positioned towards the gate and it is in clear view of the main control tower that sat in the center of the site. At approximately 0130 hours, three armored personnel carriers from the UAA arrived at the facility, unannounced, to the surprise of the guards. As they began to radio in the sudden appearance of the units, soldiers rushed out of the APCs and opened fire on the guard outpost and gunner nest, killing 3 and injuring one. The alarms of the facility were activated, but a "malfunction" did not allow the alert system to properly inform the Sierra 7 Taskforce stationed in Botswana or local security forces in Mozambique. After breaching the gate, the assailants made a path towards the missile silo, killing 20 staffers and injuring an additional 45. After breaching the missile's fortifications, a small team of combatants entered the secured area and retrieved the nuclear warheads from within the LROD-31, after which they placed the warheads in the unidentified containers before leaving. The group then leaves, claiming the lives of 12 other staffers before leaving in the same 3 APCs they entered in.

Location: Briefing Room, Premier's Estate, Kropotkina
Time: 0710

Premier Armstrong sat in her seat, her leg bouncing on it's heel as the news was told to her by her Defense Minister. Her index finger, crushed between her teeth as she ground against it from stress, and then released it to rub the bridge of her nose. Sitting at the table were other military officers, Public Relations minister and other officials just sitting in still silence waiting for Amelia to break it. She took a deep breath and let it out in a sigh as she looked her Defense Minister in the eyes.

"Alert the press." She said in a calm voice that was trembling under a wave of stress and anger. There was a loud bang as the PR Minister Nathan Rani slammed his hand on the table as well as Commander Sophia Hawthorne.

"You're out of your mind if you think the public will respond to this news positively!" He spoke to the surprise of Chairman Newalla, but he was followed by Hawthorne.

"And we still don't know who is responsible for this, we may be playing into their han-" Amelia held up her hand to silence the shouting then slowly lowered it. She looked at Rani, fire and brimstone pouring out of her eyes as she spoke.

"Alert. The. Press." She took a sip of her tea and took a relaxed sigh. "Alert them and put the country into lockdown. Halt air traffic, have the navies on high alert and scramble every jet we have. I want every communal guard activated and combing through every inch of the country. We will tell the public the facts of the matter and urge their cooperation." She leaned back in her chair, "this is a test... And we must not fail the public in these dire times. We need to ensure that this administration and government is committed to transparency, even if it damages our reputation on the international scale..."

FROM THE DESK OF THE PREMIER
RAID ON NUCLEAR MISSILE SILO KILLS 35; NUCLEAR WARHEAD STOLEN BY UNKNOWN ASSALIANTS

Today, an attack has occurred on our nation. Many have died, but the more severely a nuclear warhead was stolen. The purpose of the attack was to steal the warhead, but the purpose for which this group plans to use the warhead is unknown, but we believe this is the start of a potentially devastating attack on our nation. We believe at this time that our nation is prepared to deal with this threat, but we wish cooperation from the international community during this time. As per the orders of Premier Amelia Armstrong, all air traffic in and out of the country is to cease immediately following this announcement, and all naval travel is to be halted and all outgoing vessels are to be searched by Homeland Security guards.

Premier Amelia Armstrong expressed sincerest apologies to the victims of the attack and all those effected, but even more so she expresses apologies to the international community for this failure on the behalf of the security forces. The country will remain in lockdown until the assailants are found and brought to justice. May god bless the UASR and the people of Africa during these trying times.

February 15th 1991 18:00
Havana, Cuba, Drucezschki

Cory Herring walked into his hotel room. His host had spared no expense. The view over Havana beach was beautiful. He unpacked one of his suitcases, putting his clothing in the dressers. After that he began to undress and put on some swimming shorts. The beach was appealing to him and he would only be in Cuba till the 21st. And he wouldn’t be meeting his hosts till tomorrow morning. For now he could relax.

20:00

“You speak good Scotatrovan for an Amalian,” a brown-skin woman said in Scotatrovan as she drank from her glass.

“You have to be well-versed to do business in Cuba,” Cory replied, “or to treat beautiful locals like you Ana.”

The woman smiled, “I really do appreciate this dinner date Cory. Businessmen are so interesting.”

22:00

The two walked on the beach, the moon above reflecting off the waves. Their feet sank in the wet sand. The two held hands, “I’m so glad to have met you Cory,” Ana stated, “Maybe one day I could visit you in Missouri.”

Cody smiled, “Maybe, maybe one day. But for this week. I’m in Havana.”

Ana let go of Cody’s hand and stopped, she ran her hands through her hair and then reached out with both hands. Cody grabbed both, and Ana started to swing him around, “Then let’s make this week ours.”

She let go again and Cody went flying back, laughing, Ana giggled before tripping over herself. Cody regained his composure and walked over to her. He reached out her hand, Ana was still laughing and grabbed his hand. He pulled her up, and she snuck in a small kiss.

Stepping away, with a smile said, “I’ll see you tomorrow Cody from Missouri.”

And like that she ran off.

Looking down at the paper in his hand, he had a strong feeling he would see her again.

22:30
Back in his room, Cody stumbled to his bed. Turning on the bed light he uncrumbled the ball of paper.

Cubans want freedom, we have too long been the territory of another. Slaves to the Scotatrovans, Slaves to Amalians, Slaves to Drucezschskians. Our hearts, our cultural, our very existence depends on freedom.

Cody’s real job had just begun

“They lost what?” Lacey sat in his chair in the situation room, General Hudson was nearby along with a host of other personnel. “A nuke sir” First the mess with South Africa and that problem state it was, then Brazil and now this the USAR really was shaping up to be more of a problem for what it was worth. “Have they given any indication as to who they think stole it?” The room was silent, Lacey sighed. “Then there are only three groups of people that could have stolen the nuke, Terrorist, another nation, or the USAR.” The room was silent for a second before someone spoke up “You really don’t those last two are the case do you?”
Lacey leaned back in his chair, before speaking again “I don’t know, but there is a nuke in the wild and I’m not taking any chances with this. But we are not going in this alone. I want within the next 24 hours, an unified response from the LFN as a whole, under the table;over the table I don’t care. We need to have a handle on this before we are not able to.”

Feb 12th 1991
Presidential Palace, Neo Orleans, Louisiana
13:00

President Kennedy stood at his podium, reporters with notepads ready watched with an intense focus on the President.

"Earlier today, the United African Syndicalist Republics announced to the world a raid had been made on one of it's nuclear compounds. Furthermore they announced that a nuclear warhead had been stolen. I want to make to clear to all that the UASR has put the entire world at risk and that it is at fault for this security breach. The thing is, it's easy to say that when one's nation is in a safe and peaceful part of the world where threats are practically non-existent. Blame is not important at the moment. What is important is the world to act as one and assist in finding this nuclear warhead before a tragedy takes place. I am offering the UASR full support from the PCCA's intelligence community and that we are willing to assist in any way possible. Furthermore the PCCA is reaching out to Ethopia, Sudan, and Ismeil. The PCCA is willing to offer assistance in border security technologies in order to prevent this warhead from crossing national borders."

In the ministry of defense...

"WHAT?! THEY HAD LOST A NUKE?!" Minister of Defense Reynaldo Branco exclaimed. "Yes, I am afraid it's true." Said Diplomat Geraldo Macedo, with General Carlitos Maciel. "A nuke has been mysteriously stolen from the UASR." "First the situation here in this very land and now THIS?! WHAT KIND OF WORLD DO WE LIVE IN?!" Reynaldo exclaimed. "THIS IS MADNESS! A CATASTROPHE! WHAT IF WE END UP IN A NUCLEAR WAR...?" Reynaldo was hyperventilating. "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE...EVERYTHING IS GONNA BE GONE..." "Calm down, minister." Geraldo said. "We don't know any more about this stolen nuke until more information is found."

"Fair enough, I shall pray for it not to possibly escalate..." Reynaldo said lightly.

17 February, 1991
Rome, Kingdom of Italy

The HMS Empress of Sagaria glided across the smooth waves of the Tyrrhenian Sea, her escort of the Lord Faulkner, Gloriana II and Gallant following rather close. Her colours read joyfully still “God save the Queen” after they had passed by the Crown Colonies of the Balearic Isles to a happy reception, though they were still only little under halfway through the tour, and still had more of the Empire to see.

Gloriana looked over the railings of the ship named after one of her titles, looking at the beautiful blue waters of the Mediterranean compared to the dreary grey of the North Atlantic that surrounded Eilean and Strathland. But nonetheless, it was her home, not the plains of Northern Acuisia, the rolling hills of central Galasie nor the Taiga of Serkaria, but the green isles of Eilean.

An hour until we land in Ostia, your Majesty” the Sixth Officer of the Empress reported to Gloriana after saluting his Sovereign. Gloriana turned around and smiled politely, her hands clasped at her waist and nodded her head.

Thank you, do inform Captain Carrington I will return to my cabin before we arrive, just to make sure the Duke is ready.” Gloriana smiled again, as she walked away, nervous about how long this tour has lasted. And how she’s essentially left power in the isles both with her ministers…
But also her son, the absolute horror…

[hr]

Tie down the mooring lines! Officers of varying ranks commanded as deckmen quickly fastened the ship to shore, her massive hull dwarfing the skyline of Ostia. Dockhands and deckmen worked in unison, tightening the gangway tight against the hull of the Empress of Sagaria, right as the hatch door opened.

Down the gangway, Gloriana descended in a black dress, as she had switched out quickly from her blue dress, a black veil covering her head for a later meeting that day, though nonetheless she still had that matriarchal charm. Prince William followed right behind her in an equally respectful black suit. Down the gangway, they met their Italian cousins, the King, and Crown Princess of Italy.

”Ah, benvenuti a Italia, mia cugina!” Umberto proclaimed enthusiastically, warmly welcoming his Eileanic cousin. After many days of preparation, the Queen of Eilean, the head of state for one of Italy’s closest allies, the United Kingdom and her vast overseas Empire, had finally arrived in Roma as part of the Imperial Tour. The King and the other members of the Italian royal family were more than willing to welcome her to their sundrenched peninsula in the Mediteranean. ”You remember your nipote Gabriella, si?” Gabriella, standing a meter or so away from her father, had grown to be much like him.

Gabriella seconded her father’s warm welcome. ”Ciao, Zia Gloriana! It’s so nice to see you again! I hope your travels have been good so far.”

Dearest cousin Bertie, thank you for such a warm welcome.” Gloriana said happily with William behind her, looking around at the Mediterrean sun, practically blinding his Acuisian eyes. “My, Gabriella of all our cousins, I swear you grow more beautiful every time we visit.” the Queen-Empress smiled, of all her cousins, the Savoyards were the closest to House Brunay-Bonbry… Especially ever since the fall of the Kaiserreich to the nationalists clique.

So, how is bella Italia?” she asked, genuinely interested in the state of her cousin's realm, besides the obvious information the State-Papers had.

”We are doing decently.” Umberto responded in kind. ”I’ve been speaking to Signore Provenza and Signora Kovicic about an economic bill that is currently in the works, although that is well beyond my control. We finally have dealt with the significant majority of the violence in Sicilia between the factions that I’d rather not discuss currently. Beyond that, things have been relatively quiet here in Italy. E tu, cugina? How goes the state of affairs in the Empire?”

Papa, you’re forgetting the grand celebrations that are coming up very soon!” Gabriella chimed in. ”Remember, this year marks the 130th anniversary of the Kingdom being unified all the way back in 1860!” Turning to Gloriana, she continued excitedly; ” We’ve also been super busy planning the celebrations in every state, province, county, and village for months! It has been very exciting!”

It sounds delightful! I remember when we celebrated the 100th Empire Day when I was a little girl, seems like it was ages ago!” Gloriana smiled, while Philip snorted, considering Acuisia didn’t have any Empire to boast by the time they were children… Then again, he was sent away to Carinsey for boarding school.

And the Empire is doing well, so it seems. Our recent Infrastructure reforms in the Home Isles have been bountiful, and has given the Royal Navy’s Dockyards increased productivity. First Minister Peckingham has even notified me there may be a bill in parliament soon to expand its size further.” the Queen said as she looked back towards the magnificent HMS Empress of Sagaria. “Though, I do hope they go for Missile Cruisers as opposed to a fleet of Destroyers, or else I will be wasting a few good bottles of Champagne.

“I could not agree more,” Umberto laughed. ”The Royal Navy deserves much more firepower than a fleet of destroyers. I’m sure it will all work out in the end.”

”Papa and Zia Gloriana, come!” Gabriella chimed in, after taking a brief break from the conversation to check her watch. ”It’s nearly noon, we’ll be late for pranzo!”

Umberto rolled his eyes before continuing. ”Come, cugina Gloriana. We have a reservation at La Altrove in downtown Roma for lunch.”

February 18th, 1991
Bukavu Border City, Congo Syndicalist Republic

02:28

George Yun stepped out of his vehicle as he arrived at the checkpoint, in his hand were his state issued ID, Chinese passport, and work permit; the Congolese Security officer held up a flashlight as he took the papers and allowed the other officer at his side to take them into the booth to verify them. While Yun stood and waited, two agents went through his car with a bomb sniffing dog and a heavy duty Geiger counter that scanned for radiation, seeing if he was harboring nuclear materials like the warhead that was recently stolen. He sighed slightly but his attention returned to the officer who held a slightly stressed smile to him.

"Hello Mr. George Yun correct?" His voice was somewhat soothing to the ears, the Kikongo leaving his lips initialized what languages Yun needed to adjust to.

"Uh y-yes sir." The Kikongo that left his was choppy, and his mandarin roots came out on occasion.

"Sorry for the inconvenience but I need to ask you a few questions tonight. What are you doing past curfew and where are you going?"

"Work; I'm a member of the Congo Tungsten Mining Group, and I'm returning to my home in Gihundwe."

"Ah, wonderful. Have you been in contact with any suspicious persons over the past 72 hours?"

"No sir, unless you consider an Chinese man in central Africa as suspicious." At that the officer laughed, leaving Yun with a smile.

"Tell me, you're from the People's Republic, how does it fare compared to our nation?"

"Eh, hard to say honestly. I do miss a lot of the cooking from back home but a nice piri piri chicken makes it all worth it." He nodded approvingly.

"Have you ever had a good bowl of Jollof rice? Personally I prefer Nigerian but I've heard good things of the Ghanaian variety." Yun thought about it and shrugged.

"Not yet no, I haven't managed to go that far West, but if I ever am in Lagos I have to give it a try."

"See that's the spirit, I like you Chinese guys, always open to new things!" He laughed again as the other officer that took he documents returned.

"It all checks out, you're free to go." The interviewer wiped the tears from his eyes from laughing and handed over the documents to Yun who nodded. "Please take care, and if you see anything out of the ordinary please report to your local security office." Yun nodded and returned to his car to drive over the bridge into Rwanda. He parked his car into the small lot besides his apartment and retired for the night...

Nyane, Lesotho Syndicalist Republic
Operation Fox Catcher

03:30

"Tiger 1-0 report in."

"This is Tiger 1-0, prep'd for insertion."

"Copy. All teams prepare for operational start."

Approximately 2 kilometers away, 2 CH-47 Chinooks rapidly approached a small village in interior Lesotho, imbeded deep in the mountains. The team, comprised of members from Sierra 7 Counter-Terrorism Units (NAVY), Task Force 88 Units (ARMY), and a small squad from the Chemical, Biohazard, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Task Force (AIR FORCE). A once in a lifetime cooperation between the three departments ground units but extraordinary times always call for extraordinary measures. All soldiers wore dark grey NBC suits, CBRN Gasmasks and Geiger counters that would feed into an earpiece. The helicopters began to slow as the village came into sight, with all the soldiers preparing to repel down, when suddenly the lock-on radar on one of them started to sound off.

"We have enemy lock on! Deploying chaf-" They were suddenly called off as an RPG-7 grenade struck the tail of it and the vehicle fell into a tail spin.

"Shit! Sparrow 1-2 has been hit and is going down!"

"Mayday mayday! Brace for impact!" The pilot held onto the belts that secured him in place as well as the other soldiers who braced as the helicopter crashed into the side of a small brick villa on the outskirts. Dazed, the crew of the downed Chinook quickly pressed the emergency release latches to their harnesses and disembarked from the helicopter. The captain checked the cockpit to see the status of the pilot and co-pilot, only to find their mangled bodies impaled by debris. He sighed and exited the craft before taking cover as bullets started to rain down on them from a compound not far from where they landed.

"This is Tiger 1-0, we're taking fire from enemy combatants, 145 from our position!" He yelled into his comms while exchanging fire, laying down only when the grenadier of the squad pulled out his M32A1 and lobbed a single High Explosive shell at the balcony. There was a sudden burst of red mist and an abrupt ceasing of firing as the poorly constructed compound caved in on itself from the force of the blast. "Alright move up! We need to get to the central compound! Sparrow 1-1, we need backup at our coordinates!"

"Copy, touching down now." The Chinook came down on a football field not far from it's crashed comrade, and the full squad quickly disembarked and made a beeline towards the others. Once assembled the two squads made their way up towards the compound, shooting and moving as they cleared a path.

"The compound should be up ahead, Hyena 2-1 head around back and block their exit my squad, on me!" 2-1 nodded and rounded up the rest of her squad as they made their way around the compound and waited to ambush whoever came out the rear and side exits. Tiger 1-0 brought the rest of the squad with him to the front entrance of the enemy base and signaled for them to line up for a breach. On the count of three, the grenadier detonated a blast charge on the door, blowing it off it's hinges and sending shrapnel down the hallway. They could hear the cry of one of the terrorists as he was hit with some of it, but his screams were quickly silenced by a bullet entering his brain. Three soldiers entered in formation first, then the rest followed suit, clearing every room as they moved from the bottom floor all the way to the roof. Once done, both squads regrouped the stand ready at the basement, preparing a final breach.

"Geiger Counters on, and watch your shots.... 3... 2... Breach breach breach!" The Pointman knocked the door down with his shotgun and went inside the room, which was utterly silent minus the dull hum from the light fixture. The CBRN units went in soon after, and used their tools to find the highest concentrated point of the room, which was in the bathroom. Checking inside, all they found was the lead lined case the warhead was stolen in, as well as used iodine tablets and pieces of duct tape.

"We're late captain, the forces here were just to stall..."

"Dammit... Radioing it in."

Press Room of the Premier's Estate, Kropotkina
07:21

"... At this time we are still unaware of the current location of the nuclear device. I was briefed early that an operation on an enemy compound came up empty handed, as the assailants were able to escape before our soldiers were able to contain them. We have, however, captured four enemy operatives we believe to be coordinating with the thieves who stole the warhead earlier, and are currently being held for questioning. I'll now bring Dr. Jordan Hunt, Nuclear Physicist and professor at the University of Nairobi, who will give us information on the nuclear weapon that was stolen." Premier Amelia Armstrong got off the podium, taking off her glasses and wiping the sweat from her brow as the Doctor took the stage.

"Hello, and thank you to Premier Armstrong and to our armed forces currently aiding in the search... As you are all aware, a group of terrorist stole the warhead from one of our LROD-31 Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. The LROD stands for Long Range Ordinance Delivery, and that is exactly what it does; in it the LROD can wield up to 10 nuclear warheads, with a full yield of 1 megatons of TNT, which is a lot to say the least. However, it is reported that this specific missile was in the middle of being disarmed, and only had 1 warhead that was armed. These warheads are the Type 211 type, which are rated at 100 Kilotons; for reference the bomb the Central African Union dropped on South Africa was just under 20k. If, let's say, the bomb were to be detonated in Lagos." He presses a button on a projector behind him, showing a diagram of Lagos and the surrounding area. It would kill a conservative estimate of 261,000 and injure 3 times that amount; the downtown area would be heavily radiated for years and the surrounding area would see damages ranging in the hundreds of billions. It is imperative that we act quickly to mitigate these risks and to bring whoever stole this warhead to justice at once. We must cast aside international tribalism and work to a common goal to not only deal with these terrorists but also rid the world of nuclear weapons altogether."

18th February, 1991
Ismailiya Canal, Ismailiya, Exalted Ismeili State

In the morning breeze of the rising sun, crushing the waves of the Mediterrenean Sea, a ship of the Royal Navy entered the now renown Ismailiya Canal. A mega-construct of Human Engineering that connected the Red Sea and the Mediterrenean Sea, cutting across the African continent where it was most narrow. Now a ship of the Crown of St. Edmund, a feat of Naval and Aerial design which basked in the blazing hot sun of the Ocean barreled through it.

It was a ceremonial gesture, one that solidified a friendship from times past. A hundred year old construct which laced the destinies of two nations: Ismeil and Great Eilean. On the very edge, witnessing the meeting of two immense constructs, was the Head of State of Ismeil, the Caliph of All Islam, the Padishah of Africa. And on the decks of the HMS Empress of Sagaria, was the Head of State of Eilean, the Queen and Empress of the Realm where the Sun does not Set.

“How much longer Atilla?”

“Here they come now, Sire” The personal attendee looked over in the distance, seeing the massive Hulk of Steel, Iron and Concrete arriving to meet them.

“We shouldn’t keep them waiting then. Atilla, bring my Guard. A formal entrance is an order.”

“Right away, My Padishah.” The attendee left the entourage which awaited at port. Behind them were rows upon rows of onlookers, journalists and several officers of the law. Even in such a foreign land the arrival of another Head of State was a sight not seen in a long time.

The Ship moored into the Port, its colossal magnitude dwarfing the surrounding city and its inhabitants. The Flag of the Cross blowing with a Golden Reef and Crown, standing parallel to the Flag of the Silver Crescent and Star. Not a moment too soon, the Life Guard of the Padishah arrived, adorned in their sleek yet regal Long Coats, encrusted in silver coloured linen and modest crimson Fez to top them. Forming ranks behind the Padishah, the Ship hailed the entourage below.

Down the ramp, Sir Charles Taylor descended in the formal court uniform of the Brunay-Bonbry court in Wyndham, his medals from the Sagarian ‘conflict’ clinking all the way down. Before the Caliph of Ismeil and all Muslims, he bowed low and courteously as he would to his own Sovereign or a monarch from Europe.

“Her Royal and Imperial Majesty, the Queen of Great Eilean and Strathland, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith and Empress of Sagaria invites your Imperial Majesty aboard the HMS Empress of Sagaria.” Sir Taylor said, rising from his bow only to bow his head again towards the Caliph, moving aside and gesturing his hand upwards towards the aircraft carrier and flagship of the Royal Navy.

The Entourage stopped before the Secretary at the motion of Süleyman. With a motion to the Secretary he would speak. “Please rise, let us meet Her Majesty before doing formalities.” There was a modesty to his voice, before he stepped onto the ramp he turned gesturing towards his group, a meager group of no more than 14. A fraction of what the vessel before them could house. “If you would be so kind to lead us to Her Majesty”

The Queen’s Private-Secretary nodded, scooting past the Caliph’s entourage and up the ramp, before slowing to a more formal and polite pace, only a few steps before the Caliph and his guards. Near the hatch, the military prowess of the HMS Empress of Sagaria faded away as it began to feel more properly as a Brunay-Bonbry yacht. Eileanic Royal Marines at attention, quickly installed wooden panelling, fine Werwichshire carpets. All leading to the most powerful Matriarch on Earth…
Gloriana Anne Brunay-Bonbry, dressed in a formal black dress and a veil to be more ‘suitable’ for the Ismeili sense of modesty, the medals of the Knightly (though Christian) Orders of Saint Paul and Order of the Vigil. At her side was her husband, Prince William of Elginsburg in full military regalia, both of them possibly surviving the Ismeili heat by the grace of the ships Air-Conditioning system.

“Welcome aboard the HMS Empress of Sagaria, your Majesty.” Gloriana III smiled, nodding her head politely as did her husband the Duke.

The Padishah himself was dressed as he would in most diplomatic meetings. Adorned with very similar attire to his Guards which were lined up behind him. Except for one particular detail, his long coat was covered in a sash from side to side with the colours of the Royal, a Red-Green-Black which mirrored the rest of colours of the uniform itself. Behind him was also the Ismeili Ambassadorial Representative and the Minister of Foreign Relations, in far more western style clothing.

“Your Majesty.” The aged Süleyman made a slight bow gesture in respect. “A fine ship you have. The finest I’ve seen in many years. I hope your trip to our humble land was safe and comfortable.” It was a meeting in a completely different league, two Monarchs with the fates of their respective nations at their fingertips, so different yet sharing such history. It was already making headlines as photographers from down below tried their best to get a finer shot of the meeting.

“Most definitely. The Mediterranean has treated us far better than our native waters off the coast of our Island home” the Queen said with a small laugh, William snicketed simply “That’s an understatement…”
“Our cousins in Italy; and Governors in the Balearics have shown us great hospitality, but I always remembered my father saying that when one travels to Ismeil, they will have more than an over-abundance of kindness and hospitality to show.” She smiled. “Now try squeezing out the bare minimum from an Exsean governor, soldier or aristocrat for their Sovereign. Bloody near impossible.” William sneered with a small grin.

The Padishah gave a hearty laugh, dusty from age and dry from the weather. “Nonsense, your people are beautiful and gregarious. I’m sure the treatment would be all the same. Nevermind all of this.” Süleyman gestured to the ship around, noting how remarkable it was. “This is what friends are for, Your Majesty, to come good times…..and the bad.” Noticeably the Padishah’s smile faded after the pause, a brief sigh escaping his lips.

“But let’s not dwell in sadness. It is a day for celebration, I recall. A day where we can commemorate and confirm this lasting relationship between our two countries. So let us do so” He finished. Motioning to Atilla, who promptly left the premises for the ceremony.

“Indeed, regardless of what is happening abroad. Right now is a time to celebrate our realms’ ancient friendship, started all the way back during the reign of my Great Great Grandmother, Gloriana II.” Gloriana said, causing William to mutter something about “Godforsaken Syndicalist geriatrics…” only to earn a curt, though unnoticeable elbow to the stomach from his wife.

“And we have her and my own ancestor, Osman the Asker, to thank for.” Just as they were finished exchanging words, Attila returned, whispering into Süleyman’s ears before he turned to the Queen again. “Well met Your Majesty, Atilla informs me preparations are set. Might we step outside for a moment?”

“Oh, most definitely!” Gloriana smiled at Süleyman, offering her arm to him so that they could walk to the elevator to the Flight Deck of the HMS Empress of Sagaria. William gave a soft snort, only to catch a glare from his wife and a furrowed brow before returning her attention to the Caliph.

Süleyman obliged Gloriana, taking the Queen’s arm as he, his entourage and her own guards escorted them out into the Flight deck. Stepping out into the blazing sun, conveniently obfuscated by a cloud that passed over. The most noble group was met with the flags of the Monarchy where the Sun never sets and the Realm where the Crescent never falters. “They should be arriving shortly, Your Majesty.”

As he spoke, the Banners fluttering in the wind changed direction, an increasing roar approached them high in the air. The common folk and the many officials there turned towards a few shadows up in the sky. A wing of one of the Padishah’s own. Cruising over them as it zoomed past the flags and caused an enormous boom. The Symbols of the Sublime State dressed over in the aircraft of the Queen’s Empire’s making.

Soon, they turned about, releasing coloured smoke as they flew low near the Carrier. The four came, blue, white, gold and red. Then the next three, green, white and black. Each the national colours of these two countries. Side by side as the air wing zoomed right over them at incredible speeds. A Show of Strength, Technology, Cooperation and Skill. All neatly tied around a bow tie in homage of their friendship.

A day to remember

20th of February, 1991 CE

>Today is the 56th anniversary of the Caucasus act passed by Olga the great on this very day. The Caucasus act was proposed by Olga as a way of respecting and appeasing the various minorities of the Serkarian empire in the fallout of the Serkarian civil war which had sided with the abhorrent red menace which almost brought Serkaria to its knees. The act focused around the decriminalisation of all local languages within the Serkarian empire and mainly focused on, as the title implies, the minorities of the Caucasus, but also touched on some other things such as religion and rights.

>Unfortunately many people within the Serkarian empire take their rights as granted, but it needs to be remembered that our great rulers granted us our rights and freedoms and this fact should never be forgotten as we all should be grateful to them and remember their kindness. So I dress this to the various detractors who wish for the abolition of the monarchy, mainly members of the Burist and Nihilist parties. Why do you wish to remove from power the very same people who gave us rights, why do you want to remove those who haven't wronged you just because they weren't elected, why do you wish to stifle the will of the people and our god, Perun? I do not expect them to answer, but I can hope that they do ask me so that I can tell them why they are wrong to wish for it and maybe even change their mind.
