Commerce Minister Sylvaine Cornet announced today that Galasian trade relations with its various LMU and LFN members will continue through the year with some minor adjustments. Experts believe this is a continuation of the Republican Party election strategy that some are calling "The New Normal" as Republicans attempt to convince the people that their policies and methods over the last few years are a new and better way to govern Galasie. Both Prime Minister Henri Blanquer and Economic Minister Jean-Luc Calle have praised the deals and called them efforts by a great many people on both sides. Minister Cornet has stated that a trade deal with Amalia is also closed to be agreed upon and that she hopes to hash out the details with her Amalian counterpart very soon.
Cornet has been an especially high profile cabinet member in these past few months and some are saying that she is an extremely likely replacement for Calle as Economic Minister who announced that he would not stand for election in June and would be retiring from politics. The sixty-two year old has been a long time party stalwart and held various positions in government since 1981. Calle was often seen as one of the furthest left remaining Republicans, his retirement will be a blow to the left-leaning Republicans since the exodus of the Radicals.
