Commend The Allied Nations

Postby Scarriaa » Fri Mar 05, 2021 5:34 pm

Hello, Honorable Delegates! As I'm sure you are all aware about The Embassy's awful attack, many rose to the occasion to fight the inside tyranny. Many suffered, in The Embassy, and abroad. So, I must nominate, The Allied Nations for commendation, for their efforts against The Travelling Wilburys and raiders everywhere.

The Unity General of The Allied Nations, Moltisia, was a strong leader against the raiders. They should be commended individually for sure.

Anywho, the denoucment paper that was submited around the world by The Allied Nations was definitely a big achievement for diplomacy. Here is the link...

So, we must start to thank to heroes around NationStates, especially the small, but mighty regions, like our great The Allied Nations. And the whole region worked to make that ALLIED NATIONS STATEMENT OF CONDEMNATION OF THE RAIDERS OF THE EMBASSY form, together!

That should be celebrated!

Signed,
Scarriaa.

Illegal and self commendation.
Silvedania, the majestic nation.
NS Stats are mostly accurate except for a few things, like this nation is capitalist and the death penalty isn't in effect

News:All trade with Crabaiaia and Pikala has stopped as diplomats meet in Trenaka. Silvedanians are confused by Quentin Tarantulatino's new film, Seasonal Snackbox(This is a Bojack Horseman reference.) Weird song goes viral for making no sense.

Extremely illegal. Also a self-commend. Usually a commend would look something more like this (it is the most common and legal way to structure SC drafts):

The Security Council,

Noting that .................,
Further noting that ...........,
Observing .............,
Believeing that ...............,
(and so on)

Hereby commends (the nominee)

For example, here is a (fictitious) draft:

The Security Council,

Noting that Testlandia is the founder of Testregionia,

Further noting that Testregionia is often used by developers to test code,

Lauding Testlandia's use as as a nation directly to test code on,

Thinking that Testlandia's actions are commendable,

Hereby commends Testlandia

It's still a self-commend. If someone else can't write you a commend, then you most likely don't deserve it.

Of course, that would be illegal for breaking the fourth wall.

This proposal violates 7, maybe 8 SC rules. That's a lot.

You didn’t bother to draft on the forums, you didn’t bother reading the SC rules, you didn’t bother researching passed C&Cs to get an idea of the standard required. Basically a proposal that’s a load of “couldn’t be arsed”.

And a self-commend, while not illegal, would never have passed even if you had managed to do all of the above to a good standard.

Oh man, I was not prepared for this to be the actual text of the proposal. For the sake of using this as a teaching moment, I'm just going to actually explain the rules violations for the author.

To start off, while the entire proposal violates Rule 1A, I've marked the language that violates this rule in orange throughout the proposal. Rule 1A states that "Proposals must be written from the perspective of the World Assembly or Security Council, not that of your nation, region or another organisation."
Scarriaa wrote:Hello, Honorable Delegates! As I'm sure you are all aware about The Embassy's awful attack, many rose to the occasion to fight the inside tyranny. While I suspect that "we must start to thank" and "They should be commended individually for sure" may also be violations, I believe the red section is the Rule 1E violation that Sedge was referencing. This rule states that "A Proposal cannot attempt to do more than what it is able to do; Commendations/Condemnation can only Commend/Condemn the nominee..." The act of nominating a region for a commendation and the act of commending a region are two separate actions.
The Unity General of The Allied Nations, Moltisia, was a strong leader against the raiders. They should be commended individually for sure.

This clause violates Rule 4A, which states that "Links to Dispatches, RMB posts, the NationStates forum or offsite webpages are not permitted".

Signed,
Scarriaa.

Finally, you violate Rule 1D, which states that "Proposals must contain an operative clause that states what the proposal is actually doing - e.g. Hereby Condemns Sedgistan" or in this case 'Hereby Commends The Allied Nations".

I strongly recommend that you follow Sedgistan's advice and consult the Security Council Proposal Rules.
