This thread is meant for ROLEPLAYS for the NSCAA 12 competition. Rosters should be posted on the roster-specific thread, linked above. Results will be posted on their own thread, linked above. OOC discussion should happen on the Discussion Thread, also linked above. This thread is for the roleplays, which should make a majority of the activity.

Listed below are all 13 conferences of 16 schools each, as well as who is hosting them. All of your schools should be in different conferences, so please check to make sure they're all listed correctly. If you're having a hard time locating your schools (there's a lot of them this time!), trying using your browser's Find feature (Ctrl-F) and searching the trigramme you identified in your signup post.

NSCAA 12 - Final Four Bid

Millennium Arena, Centivar County, Drawkland

For NSCAA 12, the Drawkian International Sporting Council (DISC) has decided to bid to host the NSCAA Final Four once again. The first (and last) time the NSCAA final was held on Drawkland's shores was in NSCAA 9, where New Lakeland University captured their first title, and Cassadaigua's third, by 15 points over Quebec's Farrer University.

Millennium Arena is part of Grand Gate Park, a massive sports complex located in Centivar County, Drawkland. The entire area was built to host the World Cup 79 championship, with the crown jewel of the venue being Seven Stars Stadium, an enormous 250,000 seater that sits aboveground. Below it is the equally venerable Millennium Arena, a 100,000 seat indoor venue with an equally beautiful interior, located underground. The skillful levels of Drawkian engineering and arcane technology have allowed such a huge venue to be built, while nearly every seat in the house is still great to watch the game from.

Fans who come to Millennium Arena will be delighted in the larger Centivar County Complex, which houses Grand Gate Park itself as well as numerous hotels, shopping centers, and tourist attractions. Located smack in the middle between Drawk City (Drawkland's cultural capital) and Metropolon (Drawkland's political capital), there are many public transportation options to get there quickly, easily, and safely. Before, after, or in between the big games, fans have ample opportunity to explore Drawkland's heartland and learn more about this nation that is exotic to so many people.

If you're worried about getting to Drawkland in the first place - don't! Just because Sonnel is a different planet doesn't mean it's hard to get to. For the more adventurous (and wealthy) fans, a deep space hyper shuttle could serve as your coolest option. For everyone else though, simply take a flight to the Isles of Avon (Rushmore), or Newmanistan (Esportiva). The Stratosphere City and Tundra Falls airports both have access to interdimensional portals, which land right in Iarokannet Bay on Drawkland's coast. It's just as quick and cheap as a flight to any sporting region destination! The Final Four squads and their necessary entourage will be paid in full by us, of course. One less thing for you to worry about on your way to a title!

We hope that this bid satisfies the NSCAA's desires for a venue that's as beautiful and fitting for such an important set of games. The Final Four in NSCAA 9 was as smoothly run as you can get, and it'll be the same for NSCAA 12, provided you select Millennium Arena. Good luck to all the participants, and we hope to four of you here in Drawkland in a month's time.

Here We Go Again

It is a busy time for collegiate athletics in the Eternal Empire, with Raynor University and Mar Sara Tech sending teams to the NSCF, meanwhile they and another six of the major universities inside the Empire are gearing up for another NSCAA season. The NSCAA continues to be a major point of consternation for the fans of basketball and generally Vanorian athletics, with none of the schools that the VSC have sent ever really making a mark in the tournament. Through the entirety of the entries of the Empire schools into the vaunted tournament, success has been very difficult to come by, as getting schools into the final sixty-four is difficult and then achieving success beyond that seemingly impossible. It is the trend of Vanorian universities in the NSCAA to not be able to make it past the first weekend of the championship tournament, often losing in the first round and not even making it into the second round, but tripping up there in those few instances that they do get that far. One only need look at last season to see how this plays out for Vanorian schools, as even though half the delegation made it to the championship tournament, three were eliminated in their first game and then Mar Sara Tech was completely blown out of the water in their second round matchup.

How does it get better, what can the schools do to try and fix their fortunes in this tournament? Well first we have to look at the competition itself and how the high turnover of the entries into the competition mean that the conferences are never quite the same and the strengths of these schools rise and fall like the tides. To that end, the Vanorian contingent might have an upper hand on some of their various opposition through the conference play part of the schedule, as most of the Vanorian schools come into this season with fairly unchanged rosters, most teams losing only a player or two to graduation since the end of that last tournament. That sort of experience will be key to successfully navigating the difficultly that comes in the conference schedule, as aforementioned the viotality that is in the conferences leads to odds paths. Raynor and Sabinal both had amazing seasons last go around but it all meant nothing when they were both upset in the championship tournament, they will need those upperclassmen to lead the way and have the team learn and grow from those experiences to try and get deep into the tournament.

There might also be a mental block and the squads knowing that basketball is the least supported of the big three sports in the Empire, despite the Elven Basketball Association being one of the best domestic leagues in the entire basketball world. The players might have it in the back of their minds that all their work might not be rewarded with a future in the sport after graduation. While that is true for most athletes in the universities of the Empire, that sort of distraction in the higher echelons and tiers of competition seems persistent and a good reason why the teams seem to falter. They have also witnessed those that came before as well as the national team in the sport continue to come up short time after time after time at the most pivotal of moments, where there might be a growing belief that they can not get it done on the big stage and it then become a self fulfilling prophecy as their performance falls from its usual standard. It might be time for the schools to think about consulting sports psychiatrists in order for the team to get out of whatever sort of mental dilemma is causing these issues.

It all begins with conference play, getting the teams to come together from the beginning of it all and not letting one defeat turn into a losing streak. The coaches have to establish a strict discipline with a high work ethic but also keep the players motivated and full of the belief that they are good enough to get the job done at this level. Ride that momentum into good results and perhaps even a conference title or two and who knows what can happen. The conference tournaments provide a second chance for the teams to get their momentum and morale back as well as a chance to show the selection committee that they are worth picking again despite the poor showing time and time again, that these are different teams who are hungry for success. It all starts in a week's time and we'll see how the coaches have prepared their teams for the gauntlet, to see if their players and themselves will rise to the occasion or if the fans and teams are going to be in for yet another year of wondering what could have been and poor showings once something is actually on the line.

Corinth City Student News In Brief

This week's segment: NSCAA 12 Preview!

Hello everybody and welcome back to The Lightning Round. Today's news in brief will be a lightning-fast preview of the upcoming NSCAA 12 tournament. Once again, Corinth City and our Chargers basketball team will be trying to capture the ultimate college basketball glory which has so far eluded us: the NSCAA title. While we had a couple tournaments making the Final Four, we've never competed in the championship game, much less won it. Can we do that this year? It's anybody's guess. With the so-called "skill drought" behind us, we could have a legitimate shot at the the championship again. Or we could flame out in the early rounds!

In any case, we must first navigate the conference season. Here on The Lightning Round, we take pride in producing quick articles that you can read between classes to keep you up to date. Thus, we will be giving super-quick previews and predictions for all 13 NSCAA conferences. Enjoy!

Pink 15 Conference: Cassadaigua
Front Runners: Drawk Corps U (DRK), Castle College (KHD), Calamari County College (SQR), California College (QUE)
With Drawk Corps University being the only real "blue blood" NSCAA school in the Pink 15 conference, many could assume it's their conference to lose. Newer nations to the NSCAA scene, such as Kohnhead and Squidroidia, also have entries in this conference. Only time will tell if they really pan out. There's also California College from Quebec. Everybody knows Quebecois colleges are really hit or miss in the NSCAA, so we'll see if they hit enough to threaten our "friends" at DCU.

Five Star Conference: Cassadaigua
Front Runners: Sadeg State (DRK), Mar Sara Tech (VAL), Belle Haven State (CBP), Universite St. Croix (QUE)
Fans of the NSCF will be keen to tune into the Five Star Conference. With three longtime NSCF powerhouses (Sadeg State, Mar Sara Tech, and USC) all members of the Five Star Conference, this is sure to be a conference hot with rivalry. Any of these three could realistically come away with the conference. Also don't discount Belle Haven State. While Baker Park universities haven't really made deep playoff runs yet, they're always a threat you shouldn't underestimate.

Sky Blue Conference: Newmanistan
Front Runners: Elmanden District College (DRK), Brat Tech (CDG), Raynor (VAL), Chittorgarh (PRT)
The first Drawkians to win the NSCAA, Elmanden District College, have a reasonably tough road ahead of them. A conference with both Dagans in Brat Tech and Vanorians in Raynor will be a tough one to dominate. Also of note is Chittorgarh University, a Pratapgadh school. We don't know how tough they'll be down the stretch, but they definitely could threaten early in the season with a solid roster. There's also Carleton College from Quebec and Inkopolis University from Squidroidia. Depending on how these midmajor schools perform, this could potentially be a stacked conference.

Royal Conference: Newmanistan
Front Runners: Old Mountain (DRK), University of Victoriaville (CDG), Turbani Tech (VAL), Northern Moravica (BNJ)
The runners-up to Elmanden's NSCAA 8 title, Old Mountain University, will be calling the Royal Conference home this season. They may have some contenders to deal with, Victoriaville, Turbani Tech, possibly Barnley Tech, and Frostvale Institute of Technology. Don't forget Banija's Northern Moravica University, who are hungry to replicate their gridiron success on the hardwood. This could easily become a bloodbath conference, it's really anybody's game.

Calania Conference: Quebec
Front Runners: Cemmendy Tech (DRK), Pocono City Tech (NEW), Grande Mountain (CDG)
Woof. The top 3 in this conference feature Cemmendy Tech, Pocono City Tech, and Grande Mountain University. All squads that are used to making conferences their bitch in the NSCAA. And this is just the Top 3! There's easily another half dozen schools that could wake up and prove to be major threats to the conference title: Sankt Adelheid, Northern Baker Park State, Sabinal State, even Lismore Christian could cause issues for these "big boys." I would predict one of these Top 3 to win the conference title, but I wouldn't be confident in saying these three will end up being the top three in the standings once the season is over.

Salamantica Conference: Quebec
Front Runners: Kanyean Air Force Academy (STK), Southport (NEW), Seth Johnson (CDG), Richardson (RAN)
No Drawkians in this conference, but it's still going to be a tightly-contested one. KAFA, the reigning NSCAA 11 champions, are aiming to beat up the rest of this conference handily. Standing in their way are some of the midtier schools from Newmanistan and Cassadaigua, those being Southport and Seth Johnson. Oh, did we mention that we have Ranorians playing NSCAA ball now? Look out for Richardson to be a thorn in the bigger schools' side, if not even more threatening, by the end of the season.

Eternal Conference: Valanora
Front Runners: Ducentu State (DRK), Keisler College (NEW), Concord Heights (CDG), Kohnhead City (KHD)
Similar to the Calania Conference, the Eternal Conference features Drawkians, this time in Ducentu State, as well as a bunch of schools that could reasonably make runs to win the conference. In particular there's Keisler College from Newmanistan, and the University of Concord Heights, the NSCAA 5 champions from Cassadaigua. There's also Kohnhead City U from Kohnhead, who've had a reasonable amount of success in the NSCF and could prove themselves on the court as well. There's plenty of midmajors from other big nations here as well, Bunyoro A&M from Banija, and Kellerville State from Baker Park, to name a few. This conference could go to anyone, and it's clear Ducentu State won't have the nearly-undefeated conference run they had in NSCAA 10.

Woodlands Conference: Valanora
Front Runners: Ducentu State (DRK), Keisler College (NEW), Concord Heights (CDG), Kohnhead City (KHD)
Similar to the Calania Conference, the Eternal Conference features Drawkians, this time in Ducentu State, as well as a bunch of schools that could reasonably make runs to win the conference. In particular there's Keisler College from Newmanistan, and the University of Concord Heights, the NSCAA 5 champions from Cassadaigua. There's also Kohnhead City U from Kohnhead, who've had a reasonable amount of success in the NSCF and could prove themselves on the court as well. Planetary Conference: Drawkland
Front Runners: University of Bompton (STK), Kizza I College (BNJ), University of Hondo (VAL), Fair Haven State (BAR)
While we may be hosting the conference championship for this conference, there's none of our home nation teams playing in it (as per the usual protocol). Instead, we have some other frontrunners. For instance, Saint Kanye's University of Bompton will probably be the early favorite, which schools like Kizza I and Hondo possibly making appearances at the top of the table. One school I'm predicting to have a surprise run is the recently-returning Barnettsville entry, Fair Haven State. There's also a bunch of schools that could make runs, but these are the biggest 4 I could identify.

Flying Drawk Conference: Drawkland
Front Runners: Empress Jessica I (NEW), Concord Heights Beauty School (CDG), Queensbridge (STK), Cold Hill (RAN)
Another Drawkian conference, and this one has a more formidable lineup in my opinion. Schools like Queensbridge, Concord Heights Beauty, and EJ1 are set to be the big boys (and girls) for this conference. Still, you have schools like Cold Hill, South Caddonia, and Sarnia Tech all hungry to prove doubters wrong and make a crack run into the Ultra 64. It's anybody's conference right now!

Big Seven Nine Conference: Drawkland
Front Runners: University of Tundra Falls (NEW), Elmore Heights Correctional (STK), University of Belle Haven (CBP), Newton State (SQR)
The final of the three Drawkland-hosted conferences seems to also be the most wide-open. University of Tundra Falls is probably the biggest name in the conference, but Saint Kanyeans like Elmore Heights Correctional Facility could easily take it from them. There's also many mid-tier squads that, provided a couple upsets, could surprise the NSCAA world with a conference champions. I would look out for UBH, Newton State, and Politechnica Soria in that regard.

Orange 16 Conference: Hispinas
Front Runners: Cavsar (DRK), Farrer (QUE), College of Centralia (NEW), Starksville Medical (CDG)
Cavsar may be the most recent of Drawkian entries to the NSCAA, as well as the new NSCF entry, but they have a long ways to go to prove their worth as a true international-level Drawkian school. They may have made the Sweet 16 in NSCAA 10, they may have won the Pioneer Bowl in NSCF 22, but can they win the Orange 16 Conference and make a deep run in NSCAA 12? Only time will tell. I think they have a decent shot at taking this conference, but they'll have to go through Centralia, Starksville, and NSCAA 9 runners-up in Farrer University to do it. Not to mention the decent amount of midmajors that could spoil their run. It'll be interesting to see how the gladiators manage the challenge.

Sealion Conference: Hispinas
Front Runners: Corinth City University (DRK), University of Loyola-Istria (BNJ), Universite du Saguenay (QUE), Swisston City University (KHD)
Finally, we get to the conference that has us in it! Corinth City will be facing off against such NSCF-famed names like Loyola-Istria, Saguenay, and the more new blooded Swisston City. We may not be a football school, but we know these names when we see them, and everybody knows their athletic departments demand success in all facets. Whether or not this actually translates to their basketball teams remains to be seen. In my personal opinion, we should be able to win this conference. But you know how college basketball works. Upsets are king. Let's just do good enough to punch our ticket to the Big Dance.

A restaurant on the outskirts of Swisston City

While Sally's Steakhouse is renowed for being one of the worst restaurants in all of Kohnhead it was also renowned for other things most notably the large very large gambling ring that existed there. To date no one knows just how much power they weild but in the world of sports betting many suspect them of influencing seasons of the KFA Premier League and some claim they are active in college sports such as the NSCF.

While it's clear that Sally Roset the owner of the Kosher Deli knows about the intense gambling and planning that occurs in his restaurant it is unknown how large of a part he plays in it. Levi's personal life remains quite mysterious although it's clear that the money he has has not just come from his Kosher Deli. Swisston City however is one of the most corrupt places in all of Kohnhead and in the pubs and other "businesses" down the restaurant illegal activities that have gone unchecked for centuries commence.

All people know about the activity that goes on in here is that every Sunday at precicely 12:09 PM KST (Kohnhead Standard Time) a black suburban parks at the recreation center three blocks away from the restaurant. Approximately six minutes later a hooded figure walks into the restaurant and orders the same meal every time and is served by a waiter named Martha every time, the same Martha.

While halfway through his meal two more cars (they differ everytime) appear in front of the store and more clocked figures step out of the car. They proceed to order and by 1:00 PM the store closes as it does every Sunday the blinds are drawn and no one knows what goes on. Those cloaked figures are never seen to have left however at some point without anyone seeing they leave the store, what goes on until they leave is only speculation.

Some claim they are in there in back rooms with Sally himself, others claim there are hundreds of tenants down there who come out during this time. However it in some fashion must relate to the betting activities that go on during the time, what's odd is that this occurs every Sunday no matter the sports season. With the first NSCAA that Kohnhead will be competing in coming up many wonder if this group of hooded figures will attempt to influence what happens.

The Kohnheadian Government for some reason has never investigated this place out and Sally has never been arrested or gotten in any trouble for this. We know corruption exists but it's especially bad in this situation and these circumstances and especially in Swisston City. While it is unknown what they will be doing for the NSCAA season one can only assume they'll be active and current rumors (which could be entirely founded) say they're preparing to get behind some Kohnheadian sides and perhaps throw their weight around just like they have allegedly done in the NSCF.

In truth all of this could just be something entirely random or a story made up by some shady dudes in a bar, but I think there's definitely more to it than that and we will have to see what comes of this in the NSCAA season.

DRIVERS, START YOUR... UH... FINGERS?
Drivers from across the Cup Series universities square off not for pride on the race track, but pride on the court

It doesn't really feel like the traditional Saturday night feature down at the university short track. From Hendrick State to the lowly College of Ware, the drivers that were supposed to run late models on 100 lap shootouts to decide a local university track championship (And maybe compete in the Collegiate Championship for even more honor) are set to tip off at a basketball court! Who woulda thunk it? These 8 universities fighting with other universities from realms we haven't even heard of (Kohnhead? Barnettsville? Hispinas?) on a basketball court, not the track? It's the NationStates College Athletics Association, as we here at NASCAR Scene have been told, and it is a wild ride.

Each of the 8 universities were assigned their own conference - There's Universitade Eldora in the Calania Conference, for example, the Mudslingers being pitted against such prestigious institutions as... Northern Baker Park State University... Sankt Adelheid University... And Pocono City Tech. Damn, why does that name feel all too familiar? The Hendrick State Dinosaurs are in the Salamantica Conference with the Kanyean Air Force Academy, Seth Johnson College and our personal favorites South Western Grey County Provincial University, DAMN that is a mouthful!

But to start off our journey in this weird world of college basketball (Or Awesome Baby College Hoops, you decide), we will turn to the University of Talladega Big Ones fighting out of the Flying Drawk Conference (Sidenote, what an awesome name). You might say they are the underdogs, with the Big Ones having to contend with legendary universities like Concord Heights Beauty School, Cold Hill University, Empress Jessica I University and Queensbridge University, all favorites to win the conference while UoT sit as a school that are on the outside looking in for qualification to the playoff tournament, otherwise known as the Ultra 64. But star player Redd Best isn't complaining about representing his university a bit more than on the track.

"College basketball is a whole nother thing compared to late models", said the shooting guard for UoT. "You just don't get into a car and drive around town like it is a race track. You can shoot hoops wherever you damn well please, indoors, outdoors, right by the race track... It's very simple to pick up and play, and you don't need any expensive stuff to maintain your ball." Best has competed in a couple features at the University short track, but hasn't picked up a win for himself on track. He hopes that the change to basketball exposes a better side to him.

Even with the newfound sport of college basketball sweeping universities up and down the pecking order, some late model drivers aren't interested in switching over to a bigger spotlight. A union of short track drivers representing Penske College, the Richmond Racing School and the Petty University of Entrepreneurship, all with teams partaking in the NSCAA, have called for a boycott of college hoops due to it "infringing on the tradition of drivers on the track". Truth is, college basketball is not going to put a damper on the short track scene due to scheduling, as only a small chunk of games will be played on Saturdays and collide with the short track scene.

It is still going to be interesting to see where the 8 colleges will go when the ball tips off for the first rounds of the NSCAA. Keep up with NASCAR Scene to see how things are going in this newfound world.

Can the NSCAA kickstart Hispinas' floundering basketball program?
After disappointing IBC camapaign, eight schools represent Hispinas among 208 entries

MANDRID - It was a recently disappointing sight to see Hispinas not advancing further from the Group Stages with the recent International Basketball Championships, with Walter Laganson finally pulling the plug on head coach Alfredo Esteban's career. It will be announced later this week that former Filindostan head coach, Ciot Santos, will take over head coaching duties, and might bring the entire coaching staff he had in Filindostan with him. Meanwhile, Laganson have identified the NSCAA as an opportunity to nurture the next Hispino basketball stars, as well as to improve those who are already in the national team or its pool of players.

Eight schools around Hispinas have been entered in different conferences in hopes of making it into the Ultra 64 either by winning their respective conference tournaments or by having a good win loss record and getting an at-large bid. Notable schools are Mandrid's two prestigious universities, Instituto de Tecnologia de Mandrid and Universidad de Hispinas, Vigano's Colegio de Nuno Espirito Santo, and the two Basko schools, Basko Unibertsitatea and Ipar-mendebaldeko Hispanako Unibertsitatea. These five schools are expected to fly the Hispinas flag in the tournament.

As part of a feasibility study to host tournaments, Hispinas was also given two conferences to organize and host, the Sealion Conference based in Mandrid, and the Orange 16 Conference presented by Telebuenas, based in Cebuenas. The two conferences will initially hold a double round robin before the teams go to Hispinas for their respective conference tournaments.

Pratapgadh Before The Arrival Of Basketball

Pratapgadh has a long and rich history, fought battles for over 400 years and is one of the nations to survive both the Islamic and British invasion. However, sports have played a big role in Pratapgadh's history. It helped people across India unite and share the same passion for sports. When it comes to sports, cricket, kabaddi and hockey have always been the most popular among the population. As Pratapgadh progressed along the way, it was also exposed to rugby, football and basketball. This article is about how Pratapgadh was before the arrival of basketball and other foreign sports.

As mentioned above, cricket has been a big part of Pratapgadhi history. Cricket was first introduced to the Rajput nation in the 1840s by the British. The British had colonial ambitions and took over the small coastal kingdom of Goa. It is said that the first contact between the British and the Kingdom of Pratapgadh was in 1841 when British army officer James Lupton met Rana Amar Singh II (King of Pratapgadh at that time). Officer James Lupton offered an alliance between Great Britain and Pratapgadh, however, Rana Amar Singh II refused as he didn't trust the foreigners and concerned with their colonial ambitions. This resulted in hostile relations between the two nations, which led to a war that carried on for three years. Pratapgadh and its allies fought the British along the borders of the present-day Mumbai district and also succeeded in gaining a small chunk of Goa. During the war, many British soldiers decided to switch sides during the war as they couldn't bear with brutality and cruelty of the British army and fought for Pratapgadh instead. The war ended with the British abandoning Goa and returning to their homeland. The British soldiers who fought for the Pratapgadhi side remained in Pratapgadh and built a small community of Anglo-Indians. However, one of most historic moments was when the British first arrived in Goa. The colonial troops were having a game of cricket on the beach when children from a local village arrived to see what they were up to. The colonial troops invited them to have a game of cricket, teaching them the basic rules of the game. These children continued playing cricket in their village, which also attracted other children and adults to the game. Slowly, cricket grew from a small village to being played by the majority of people in Pratapgadh. People were fascinated by the game of Test cricket due to its demand for skills, strength and management of time. Even before cricket, kabaddi was played all over the nation. Kabaddi lost its popularity due to cricket, but it is still one of the most loved sports in Pratapgadh. Hockey too was introduced to Pratapgadh by the British. It couldn't grab the audience's attention as much as cricket did, but is the third most popular sport in Pratapgadh today.

For nearly 400 years, cricket, hockey and kabaddi were the only popular sports of Pratapgadh. However, from the 2000s, other foreign sports such as football and rugby was introduced to the nation due to more participation in international sport. Rugby quickly became popular due to a great performance by the Pratapgadh National Rugby League Team in the Rugby League World Cup XVIII. However, football didn't have the same success. After all the players of the Pratapgadh National Football Team died in a horrific plane crash, football didn't recover. The Pratapgadh Football Federation struggled financially for years and couldn't put a team together for the World Cup Qualifiers. The Pratapgadh Football Federation filed for bankruptcy in 2022 and the popularity of football plummeted. However, the Pratapgadh Football Association was formed in 2024 and also held the Pratapgadh Super Cup in 2024. So maybe football can make a return and PFA could re-ignite the passion for football in the hearts of 302 million Pratapgadhis.

This is how things were in Pratapgadh before they were first exposed to the sport of basketball. In the next article, we will be covering how basketball was introduced to Pratapgadh and how it slowly grew in popularity. The story of both basketball and football are quite tragic as they didn't such a bad fate. Both of them grew in popularity and slowly suffered a painful death due to a lack of international activity. Football had to face a much worse fate than basketball, as basketball is still played casually and a few universities, colleges and academies are keeping the sport alive. The Chittorgarh University, University of Jaipur, Takshahila City College, University of Suryapur, Bundi University, Karnavati College, Chandigarh Military Academy and Kumbhalgarh City College are still keeping the sport alive and also participating in the 12th edition of NSCAA. There is only one basketball league which is played between these schools. Hopefully, participating in the NSCAA will help revive the sport. For now, goodbye and goodnight.

College of Ware's basketball ambitions shock the rest of the NSCAA, take Mar Sara Tech of Valanora to overtime

The small, intimate crowd of the Jacobs Center at the campus of the College of Ware really didn't got nothing to cheer for except for the university racing championship - The university, often seen as a "scheme" and a "joke" by the rest of the Cup Series drivers and fans, and as a result their representatives floundered on the big stage of the Collegiate Championship. But with the sudden rise of what Ware player Thurstan Poole calls "Awesome Baby College Hoops", the College of Ware has seen more life than it ever has - And it showed as the Big Red hosted the Mar Sara Tech Raiders from Valanora in a clash that sold out the university arena, mainly due to the sudden success of the College.

The Big Red headed into this Pink 15 matchup against a stacked Raiders team led by Mille Jansson and Filippa Ström with a surprising 2-1 record in the conference, a loss away at Kanyean university South Union by 21 points followed by wins against the University Of Motostoke and Southern Dinagat State. But truth be told Mar Sara were struggling too - Under .500 with a 1-2 record, their only win was a 64–91 demolition of the University of Vukojevac. For a team like them, this seemed to be an "off" start to the season, like something was wrong within the Raiders camp, and the Big Red would capitalize on it as they hoped to go 3-1 to kick off the year.

The woes of the Raiders were, in turn, the spark the College of Ware needed to challenge a school from the Eternal Empire. The small but loyal fans at the Jacobs Center were almost like the screech of a million bats as the game went underway, the noise from the small but loyal crowd of 1,800 College of Ware fans deafening enough to get their Big Red the lead on multiple occasions. But, as the tying dagger from Mar Sara's Manuel Hellström flushed into the net at the buzzer, the 2 teams went into an overtime deadlock, something that you wouldn't expect coming out of the lowly College of Ware taking on a collegiate powerhouse like the Raiders. Unfortunately one overtime period was enough to seal a Mar Sara win, the Raiders winning 102-98.

However, the Big Red weren't disappointed in the overtime loss. The players all seemed to be happy that they pushed such a prestigious team to the limits, none more so than #53 Robbie Tailor. "You know, we should be proud that we played a team like this to a competitive result. If we can do this well against a team like Mar Sara, who knows what might be in store for us? We're not saying an Ultra 64 bid right now, but we're surely competitive in an environment like this."

The College of Ware isn't the only one getting the spotlight in college basketball, however. The University of Talladega Big Ones, covered previously in NASCAR Scene, have been flying high in the Flying Drawk Conference and sit undefeated on a 4-0 record, one of 26 remaining undefeated teams in the NSCAA. That included a 68-63 win over South Caddonia in the opening game at the Alabama Superfieldhouse followed by an infamous win away from home against Empress Jessica I University, 106-67. Talk about a start to your season if you're UoT!

NSCAA 12 tips off as controversy still rages on about Northern Moravica's and Loyola-Istria's non-automatic qualification vote

BUSUKUMA, NATIONAL CAPITOL REGION- Controversy raged in Banijan college basketball scenes as the BCSG, for the first time ever, voted to exercise its option to put in non-automatic qualifying schools into NSCAA 12. While TV and other media broadcasters were undoubtedly pleased, it was a move that sharply divided public opinion among college basketball fans, and made a lot of people angry. Ultimately, however, one cannot look back- and with NSCAA 12 in full swing, now's a good time to go back and look at this controversy.

To understand why this is a controversy, you must look at the regulations the BCSG put in place after NSCAA 9. Previously, the BCSG were simply picking schools based on how they'd think they'd do at this level. And it was mostly disastrous. In NSCAA 7 and NSCAA 9, Banijan schools struggled, with none making any runs past the Sweet 16. The BCSG thought they could do more to ensure that their schools had the possibility of success on the international stage, like Banija had in the NSCF.

And so, the BCSG set out a new rule. The NSCAA on our calendar, of course, occurs every third season. So the rule was simple. Anyone who makes Banija's national semifinals, in either of the non-NSCAA seasons, will earn an automatic bid to the NSCAAs. Which meant, that a minimum of four schools, and a maximum of 8 schools, could qualify for international sport's premier college basketball competition. And nobody else.

Of course, with NSCAA regulations allowing each country up to 8 schools, there was always the possibility of the BCSG voting to fill in whatever remaining slots there are. They did not do that, however in either NSCAA 10 or 11. In the two seasons preceding NSCAA 10, we had the same final four two years in a row, so we submitted four schools. In the two seasons preceding NSCAA 11, we had two repeat semifinalists, so we sent all six schools that made at least one of them.

But then comes the two seasons after. We have a clear top two in Banijan college basketball right now- University of Moravica(U of M) and Kizza I College. The two schools, on opposite sides of the country, faced each other in the national championship series two years in a row, with Kizza I College winning the first, and U of M winning the second. The semifinalists who faced them, however, were very different teams. These last two seasons saw the rise of basketball in southern Banija, especially in the Southern Shango Conference(who will have 4 participants in the NSCAAs!)

So of course, those were two automatic qualifiers. In Year 8, Heshima & Usian, who are making a slow climb up the college basketball ranks here at home, made the national semifinals for the first time in two decades. They had beaten Loyola-Jinja in the round of 16, aka the first round, and then downed Hangaza Tech in the quarterfinals. The Guardian Angels did so in dramatic fashion. A buzzer beating three pointer, to win, the fans storming the court, and qualifying. They got blown out in the semis in that best of 5 in 3 consecutive games by U of M, but hey- they qualified. They are here.

North Ankole qualified that year as well. Beating Army in the Round of 16 and then Lesedi in the quarterfinals, they qualified. They almost made the national championship series, but in Game 5 of the best of 5 against Kizza I, they wore down. But they made it to the NSCAAs. Their follow-up season was so rough, going .500, that they fired their coach and hired Gorom Obasie to run the program. In Year 9, it would be Sankt Adelheid and Bunyoro A&M who would make the semifinals and qualify.

But that meant Banija's two biggest money-making programs would go not enter. Northern Moravica and Loyola-Istria. Of course, they'd be fine financially. But they are Banija's biggest college sports television draws. And the controversy immediately started. Coaches across the country denounced potential addition of more schools, with many saying that "a trip to the NSCAAs must be earned." The BCSG, of course, owns media rights within the country for NSCAA basketball. When there were rumors that bids for those rights might go down without NMU and Loyola-Istria, the decision was made.

Northern Moravica athletic director, Horace Browning, defended the decision. "Qualification to these competitions should happen based on sporting merit." Horace Browning told the media. "Us and ULI were the next best teams in the country, and filling out all of our NSCAA slots is something that is good for the sport. Northern Moravica absolutely is capable of competing at the highest level, and as the country's premier sporting institution, we will find success here in NSCAA 12."

And here we are. Which of Banija's schools will find success?

Hello everyone! I am so honored to be able to write articles for the Concord Heights Times in the footsteps of my mother, Chelsea. As I am starting at the University of Concord Heights this year, it is a great opportunity to follow in her lead and maybe be where she is. I am going to be able to cover all of the college basketball games as eight of our nation’s finest schools participate in the 12th NSCAA tournament. We will be looking to win this for the fourth time, but I have been warned that since this is an even number edition, that we need to look out for Drawkland. They have done well in this before, and seem to be committed to putting the last tournament behind them for a better showing this time out. I will be rooting for our national champions, the University of Concord Heights, but unlike during the season here, I am a fan of all eight of the schools that have advanced!

University of Concord Heights (3-1, Eternal)
My classmates did a great job in their opening four games, taking three of four. Courtney Larkin, a phenom and a fellow freshman, scored 32 and then 35 in the first two victories, though did get shutdown against Universidad Carlandas. The team picked up the defense against Penske College to be where they are now in the standings. Our national champions have a great chance to go all the way and I am not biased. Ok, I am very biased!

Brattleboro Technical Institute (3-1, Sky Blue)
The Brats won three of their first four games, including a thriller to start things off against Valanora’s Raynor University on the road. These are two of the NSCAA’s more longer tenured sides, and they had a back and forth tilt the whole way. We were at the edge of our seats in the final minute of this game, especially. Rachel St. Clair hit a jumper with 19.2 seconds on the clock to make it 77-75, and the smothering defense at the end allowed that score to hold up. Unfortunately, they later lost by 28 to Elmanden District College but will hope to get them back later.

New Lakeland University (2-2, Woodland)
This team will not be happy to have a 2-2 start after their first four games, seeing as they are expected to be one of our top schools in this and are a recent champion. Losing by 20 to Genia University and by 24 to Universidad de Hispanis are inexplicable for a team with so much talent and firepower. Those who watched those losses closely said that they felt NLU simply showed no emotion. Expect that to change!

Concord Heights Beauty School (2-2, Flying Drawk)
The Beauticians are in the middle of the conference standings as they could not really gain any momentum in the opening four games. Despite playing well at home, the Beauty School has not really been known for big records in conference play, but have done damage in conference tournaments. PG Makenzie Stratton told me that, “we need to get rolling in this conference, there’s no reason we cannot be the best team in it.”

Grande Mountain University (1-3, Calania)
A slow start for this side in the Calania Conference, though they were in those three losses until very late. While there is no shortage of experience from this one time champion at this level, perhaps more games will get them rolling. Coach Sarah Edwards told me that, “Not where we want to be, but at the same time, it is not something you can’t climb yourself out of.”

Seth Johnson College (2-2, Salamantica)
After their shocking upset loss in the first round of the Cassadagan tournament, our top all-male team is looking to avenge themselves in this competition. A great run would really give them a chance to erase the mental demons that will come from losing early in our own tournament. Two solid wins, but also a loss to Newmanistan power Southport University occurred, as well as an up and coming school from Kohnhead.

Starksville Medical Institute (1-3, Orange 16)
A sluggish start for this side with just the one win, and they were not really competitive in their losses. Not sure what went on here, but they will certainly vow for improvement. Thankfully, they have a lot of games left to play.

University of Victoriaville (2-2, Royal)
This is the first time that UV has been in the NSCAA tournament, but with their young roster we can expect to see more of them in the future. They dropped their first two games, but bounced back in their next two. We’ll have to see more of them to see how they fare.

The Arrival Of Basketball

Sports such as cricket, hockey and kabaddi have always been big in Pratapgadh. Over the years, football and rugby were also introduced to Pratapgadhis in the 2000s due to Pratapgadh breaking away from isolation. This period of time also gave Pratapgadhis their first taste of basketball. In today's article, we will be talking about the arrival of basketball on our television screens, its early perception and how it started to surface in Pratapgadh. Before I continue, I would like to say, the sporting history of Pratapgadh is also quite tragic. Certain games had lost popularity and slowly disappeared from Pratapgadh, and in some cases, the whole national team died. Pratapgadh is a graveyard of many sports that once flourished, it is time that our people start appreciating every sport other than just cricket and hockey. So without further delay, let's start.

Television sets in Pratapgadh first appeared in 1996 when businessman Qais Ahmed bought the first-ever television set in Pratapgadh. Pratapgadh lived in isolation from the world for nearly 400 years, the only ones it interacted with were fellow Indian kingdoms. This was mostly due to Pratapgadh's hostile view of European nations, believing that they are all greedy like the British. In the 1990s, Pratapgadh started opening up to the world which also led to the introduction of other foreign sports in Pratapgadh. Television back in that time only showed the news and classical dramas. Football first appeared on national television in 1992 when players from Great Britain played a friendly match against Pratapgadh. The newly crowned king, Rana Bhagwant II (the king of Pratapgadh to this day), formed his own football which mostly included Anglo-Indians. The Anglo-Indians were the only ones who knew how to play this sport and taught the other Pratapgadhis in their team. This was an act of friendship by Rana Bhagwant Singh II towards the British and a historic moment of Pratapgadh coming out of isolation. The game ended 3-1 with the British running over the Pratapgadhis. The people of the nation who watched the game on television fell in love with the sport. The tactical game used by the British amazed Pratapgadhis and soon people around the nation wanted to try the sport. What I am trying to tell here, is that television was the main reason behind new sports arriving at Pratapgadh just like basketball.

The game of basketball was first shown on national television on 30 August 2010, the PRT News Media explained how the sport is played and the basic rules of the game. One thing that the Pratapgadhis love was when the ball went through the basket cleanly, really satisfying to watch. Tall people especially had a big advantage in the game. Many tall people who struggled in cricket and football, believed basketball was a sport that could benefit them. The early perception of basketball was quite positive as Pratapgadhis were quite open to new stuff at that time, so new activities were welcomed. Around 2011, basketball first surfaced in Pratapgadh with locals starting to play the game. The Royal Colony in Chittorgarh introduced the very first basketball court at The Royal Colony Park. The locals learnt to play the game mostly from the coverage of PRT News Media. Over the next few years, basketball courts became prominent in parks and public spaces. However, basketball was still more of a public pass-time than a sport with potential careers for people. This all changed when schools started to play the game and built a little league of their own.

Around 2014, schools in Chittorgarh and Jaipur started to take the sport more seriously and developed their own leagues. This gave basketball more ground in Chittorgarh and Jaipur and room for development. Slowly, schools in cities like Karnavati, Suryapur, Kumbhalgarh, Ranthambore, Amritsar and Chandigarh started to their own semi-professional leagues. The most famous one to this day is the Chittorgarh Senior Schools Basketball Championship, which has been around for 21 years now. Basketball mostly remained in Gujarat, the southern part of Rajputana and Punjab. Things were going great for the sport, but there was the risk of it becoming trapped in these regions with no possibility of expansion. That changed when universities, colleges and academies took the job of spreading the popularity of basketball.

In the next article, we will be talking about how basketball was quickly expanding and developing in Pratapgadh. The next article will talk about universities and colleges, who were the main reason behind the development of basketball. For now, goodbye and goodnight.

With the NAU welcoming the Collegiate Gridiron game for the first time just a few weeks ago, it was high time for most of the rest of TJUN-ia to catch up in this regard with the welcoming of the Collegiate Basketball game to these shores. With 30 conference games, a conference tournament and the potential of seeing TJUN-ian teams in the Elite 64, there was certainly plenty to fight for and the 8 debuting schools certainly knew that putting in a good start may lead them to success later down the line. So, with all this considered, who rose to the occasion in the opening 4 games?

4-0: Wallabies Wallop The First Four!
Record: Beat Mar Sara Tech by 13, Auster by 6, Universidade Portia by 19 and Universite St. Croix by 9.
Verdict: Tight at times but otherwise, a great showing by UWWB! Margaret Kngwarreye is certainly a threat at times and it will be interesting to see how she develops in the rest of the season.

3-1: Auto Club Spoils Mariners' Run
Record: Beat KCU at Louisville by 3, Castle College by 10 and Wyndon College by 4, but lost to ACTI by 18.
Verdict: Almost perfect by the College of Portside, but Auto Club certainly brought this team back down to earth. Holden McGriffin was certainly clutch against KCU-L and Wyndon.

3-1: Early Slip For Green Flash Leads To Three On-The-Bounce!
Record: Lost to Bayview State by 2 but then beat Cold Hill by 7, Southern Unova by 7 and PNUA by 16.
Verdict: A tight loss on MD1 empowered UCPT to win the next 3 games convincingly. Layton Palmer certainly brought a lot of points to the game and could be one to watch in the future for the Green Flash.

2-2: Al-Hilal Turns 2 Losses Into 2 Wins
Record: Lost to Sabinal State by 26 and Grande Mountain by 3, but then beat Svemira by 5 and Emperor State by 17.
Verdict: It wasn't the best start at all by the Islanders, but they turned things around in the final 2 games, While Sabinal State was a write-off, Mohammed Alawi certainly helped in keeping the team in the games against Grande Mountain and Svemira.

2-2: 50-50 Split For Los Leones
Record: Beat Pormut by 30, then lost to MLCC by 7, then beat Concord Heights by 5 before losing to Bunyoro A&M by 2.
Verdict: El Rugido's team saw two great wins while other games have been close, but not good enough. Jonathan Salvador certainly helped carry the team to victory over Concord Heights and may prove useful in other games.

2-2: Grizzles Start Strong, Then Fall Off A Bit
Record: Beat Plava Vila College by 8 and Richmond Racing School by 3, but then lost to MPI by 5 and Tundra Falls by 5.
Verdict: All 4 games have been tight for CSU, but the first 2 were better than the last 2. Lina Chernomyrdina has been a good point scorer in all 4 contest so far, so certainly someone to watch.

1-3: Win In Port Squidward Saves Surfistas' Blushes
Record: Lost to OEU by 15, then beat PSCC by 9 before losing to Denalia-Hawthorne by 12 and Northern Dinagat State by 11.
Verdict: It certainly hasn't been fun for UP thus far, but that win over Port Squidward certainly showed this is promise in this unit behind the 1-3 record. Pedro Alaves was a beat in that sole win, so maybe it may be best to rely on him more for future success.

0-4: Dragons Struggle In Sealion Gauntlet
Record: Lost to Overglade by 13, Swisston City by 3, Karnavati College by 13 and Veridian City by 3.
Verdict: Some games have seen HPU be outclassed, while others were tight and show us that there is still talent in this team. Gu Ying and Ma Rui have been a dynamite duo on occasion, but Hongxai may need more than that if it wants to get wins on the board...

Not the Best, Not The Worst

It was a first two weeks of mediocrity for the schools representing the Eternal Empire in the NSCAA, with the biggest disappointment of the bunch being Mar Sara Tech with a pedestrian two and two record after their first four games. For a team that had made it into the Ultra Sixty-Four last season, they were expected to come into this season on a high and bring a bit of fight about them, instead they are looking like just another one of the also rans of the competition through the first two weeks. Starting off with a double digit loss to some no name school from TJUN-ia in Mar Sara was hardly the start to the season that was expected, but then to lose at home a week later to an obscure Baker Park university before being dragged into an overtime game against a school whose main competition is automobile racing? This is not the sort of results that you would come to expect from a Raiders team that are supposed to be among the class of the Empire's collegiate sporting representatives and having had mild success in the NSCAA in seasons prior.

Yet the struggles of the Raiders were just indicative of the struggles of all the Vanorian schools in these first two weeks of the conference double round robin. While Everlin might have come on as a bit of a surprise with their three wins, it is not quite enough to wipe away the average and just very pedestrian showings from the Vanorian schools in the first two weeks. For all the talk from the various coaches and school administrators talking about taking the competition seriously this go around, the effort on the court does not show it in the slightest. With the two biggest and best schools from the Empire respectively going two and two each, with Raynor sitting far away in the lower mid table of their conference, it is a bit of humble pie, as even Turbani Tech and Sabinal State only managed to get a pair of victories. The Naval Academy in Rinaldi might have been the only school that was sticking true to their word, as their three decent victories were good, but they were ultimately made to look like amatuers when they visited Drawkland and Corinth, making it seem like they were pretenders instead of a real contender for the conference title.

However if there are two bright spots it comes from two unlikely schools, in South Caddonia and the University of Hondo, with Hondo being the only Vanorian representative not to lose a single game in the first two weeks, while their Caddonia comrades managed to only to lose once. What sets these two universities apart from the rest of the Vanorian contingent and made it where they were able to perform up to a much higher level than even the other two squads who managed to put three wins on the board through the first two weeks? If we are being completely blunt with South Caddonia, they have perhaps gotten the easiest draw of the entire Empire lot with regards to the strength of their conference and having a few good shooting nights to open up their start to conference play. With this only the second time they have entered into the NSCAA, there is also less footage for other schools to have to counter them. As for Hondo, they are indeed in a more competent conference but unlike Raynor and Mar Sara, they have been able to keep up the high standard of play and not find the weight of expectation or home disarray as major obstacles. It may yet come with more difficult games in the heart of the schedule, but for now they are looking like a team having fun.

All that being said, it is still early days and the likes of the Rockets and Raiders can find their footing quickly enough, they could be back in within a shout of chasing their respective conference leaders by the end of the next two weeks of play. The early weeks in the NSCAA tend to be prone to upsets, especially with newer schools that few will have heard of or even have any sort of gameplan for. That very well could be the problem with the Raiders and their three very disappointing games, we can not be too sure. The squads will need to lean in on that veteran leadership, the whole eight of them, if they are to rise above this early adversity that has been thrown before them and make good on all the talk that they had before the season began. If not, they might be going a long way to proving those who say that basketball is simply not a sport that the Vanorian athlete is able to have success in, that the domestic league results are an anomaly, given how poor the Dragons fare in the IBC and how the schools poor track record in the NSCAA would reflect upon that growing train of thought.

A good start for Kohnheadian teams

The first four games in the 12th NSCAA have come and gone with the eight Kohnheadian teams having participated, some are fairing better than others although overall it's definitely been a successful start for the nation's college basketball programs. The teams will be put in order not by how well they did but by initial rankings even though those initial rankings haven't really been followed to say the least.

Game 1: Kohnhead City University (KHD) 97–65 Pallet Town University (DUR)
Game 2: Keisler College (NEW) 75–90 Kohnhead City University (KHD)
Game 3: Kohnhead City University (KHD) 81–75 Kentucky Commonwealth University (APY)
Game 4: Kohnhead City University (KHD) 73–83 NUS Sjoedrhavn (SVJ)
Place: 4th in Eternal Conference

It was a very good start for the Mighty Eagles who followed the football program with success routing Pallet Town University in their first game and then winning their next two by much closer margins. Against Kentucky Commonwealth University out of Appalachian Nation we saw us make a large comeback with Hart actually closing out the game with the first unit as opposed to Hills who has struggled thus far. Ultimately our run came to an end against NUS Sjoedrhavn from Savojarna and now we sit in 4th of the conference.

In a four game cycle that was quite repetitive of Kohnhead City's although without the dominant first game, Swisston City managed to beat fellow NSCF school in Universite du Saguenay from Quebec and Bull hit a deep two with 12 seconds left on the clock to put us up by three against Hongxai People's University a surprising 0-4 team from a good basketball nation in TJUN-ia. Alas Pratapgadh side Karnavati College hit a game winning three as time expired to defeat us in a game that knocked us down to 3-1.

University of Barnley Tech
Game 1: University of Barnley Tech (KHD) 94–77 University of Victoriaville (CDG)
Game 2: Basko Unibertsitatea (HSP) 67–59 University of Barnley Tech (KHD)
Game 3: University of Barnley Tech (KHD) 92–57 University of Western Appalachia (APY)
Game 4: University of Barnley Tech (KHD) 65–69 College of the Air Force (VNG)
Place: 6th in Royal Conference

Oh look our top three teams are placed 4th, 5th, and 6th in their respective conferences that's pretty cool. While Barnley Tech also carried on the tradition of winning their first game they couldn't shoot at all against Basko Unibertsitatea and fell by eight with Frasier getting into foul trouble early. Appalachian Nation side Western Appalachia stood no chance against Barnley losing by 35 points in just a complete route which only made our four point loss that we blew after being up by 9 heading into the second half worse in our 4th game.

Caslte College
Game 1: Auto Club Technical Institute (NCS) 69–90 Castle College (KHD)
Game 2: Castle College (KHD) 72–82 College of Portside (TJU)
Game 3: Calamari County College (SQR) 82–93 Castle College (KHD)

Place: 6th in Pink 15 Conference

Castle College have the best offense in Kohnheadian college basketball and it showed in this strech scoring at least 90 points three times and the other scoring 72 in a 10 point loss to a TJUN-ia side. Our defense lacks a little to be desired with 69 points the lowest we allowed although it wasn't too bad. This team is surprisingly 3-1 including a win in the battle of C's, it was Calamari County College against Castle College and Castle College proved victorious.

A good start for Kohnheadian teams - Part 2

University of Kohnface City

We just love 6th place don't we as just like Castle and Barnley Tech, Kohnface City sit in 6th place of their conference at a 2-2 record that saw them suffer a poor opening loss to Drawkland school Elmanden before rebounding against NSCF school Akers University and then using that momentum to propel them to a 29 point victory over Carleton College. Ultimately they would suffer an 11 point defeat to Susquehanna in their fourth game home for the second time.

So far this list has been quite accurate in its portrayal of teams showing that maybe the oddsmakers did know something when making the list. Wangor State College started out slow going 0-2 but they rallied in their third game to take the win in overtime and then carrried that over to a dominant rout of Starksville Medical Institute holding the school from Cassadaigua to just 48 points and scoring 81. This is quite an offensive team so holding them to 48 points is pretty convincing, they become the 3rd school to go 2-2 from Kohnhead with the other three covered in this article having gone 3-1.

Northern-Parga State
Game 1: University of Prince Raoul Islands (QUE) 84–72 Northern-Parga State (KHD)
Game 2: Northern-Parga State (KHD) 75–83 University of Hondo (VAL)
Game 3: Fair Haven State (BAR) 88–61 Northern-Parga State (KHD)

Northern-Parga State did the worst out of all the Kohnheadian teams stumbling out of the gate to an 0-3 start although they were quite competitive in two of them not having the firepower to keep up or the clutch genes as this is a team full of freshman after all. The freshman got their first win when they took down Ranoria State University by 12 to at least avoid an unbeaten start. This team wasn't expected to compete now so this isn't really unexpected or anything still however they did the worst from Kohnhead which shows just how good all of our teams did.

This was completely unexpected the team that everyone said was worse than a team of 12 freshman, a community college everyone in Kohnhead laughs at and they start out 4-0 in dominant fashion winning three of their four games by at least 15 and two by over 25. And when the games did come down to the wire like against Seth Johnson College from Cassadaigua this team clamped down defensively led by Owen Bridges who has been an absolute menace under the basket and some clutch free throw shooting late from Luka Sears in a game where the refs called a lot gave us the four point victory.

Overall it's a very good start to the NSCAA season for all teams with the exception of Northern-Parga State who weren't expecting to compete anyway. It's very surprising to see Kohnhead teams do so well and I think some like DCC with their 4-0 start or powerhouses such as KCU and SCU could even make a run at a conference title.

hey, what schools are doing good in the NSCAA this year?

Well, pretty much all of them are doing pretty well so far.

Here's my personal ranking of all of them:

#8 - Corinth City (2-2): Every Drawkian team started 4-0, but somehow, Corinth City lost their first game to a no-name school.
Extremely embarrassing, and they went on to lose the next game, albeit it Loyola-Istria.

#7 - Ducentu State (4-0): While Ducentu State is still undefeated, they've looked really sloppy.
Two of their wins were one-shot leads over mediocre opposition.

#6 - Cavsar (4-0): Cavsar seemed a little lacking in their wins, but they still got the job done.
They're higher on the list due to their handy win over Newmanistan's College of Centralia.

#5 - Drawk Corps U (4-0): DCU may have the lowest point differential of the undefeated teams, but they've had harder foes.
They've taken out Banijans and Vanorians in particular. Signs point to them dropping one sooner than later.

#4 - Old Mountain (4-0): The Royal Conference features a gauntlet of tough teams, but so far OMU has easily won games against such teams.
They've also done it looking better and more cohesive than DCU's comparable resume.

#3 - Cemmendy Tech (4-0): With 3 undefeated teams left in the Calania Conference, the other two sit at around +26 PD.
Cemmendy's PD is at +107, and they've gotten wins against two AO GSW schools already.

#2 - Elmanden District (4-0): In the Sky Blue Conference, Elmanden crushed Kohnface City on Day 1.
Even better came a couple days later, when they destroyed a Dagan university - Brat Tech - by nearly 30 points.

#1 - Sadeg State (4-0): Sadeg State currently sit at 4-0 with a huge +121 point differential.
They have wins against Saint Kanyeans and Pratapgadhans by considerable margins, definitely our best so far.

How did the schools fare in the first four games of the NSCAA 12?
Which teams made great starts and which made disappointing ones?

MANDRID - The first four games of the NSCAA season has been done and the eight Hispino schools have started their journey in their quest to become the best basketball college or university in the multiverse. Join us in recapping the results of their first four games.

Instituto de Tecnologia de Mandrid
Cardenales Rojos, or the Red Cardinals, did not have a great start expected of Hispinas' best school, although they had a Drawkian school in their schedule, Ducentu State, which annihilated them in Matchday 2, 62-91 in their own arena, after dealing with Penske College 80-61 in their opening game. They were upended by 4 points by Barnetsville Athletic Christian, before pounding Appalachia's Kentucky Commonwealth by 11 points. ITM currently sits 10th in the Eternal Conference organized by the elves of Valanora.

Universidad de Hispinas
Genios Verdes/Green Geniuses meanwhile, had the same 2-2 record their bitter rivals had, in the Woodland Conference that had been organized by the compatriots of those from Eternal Conference. They did not have the best of starts when they were stymied in front of their own fans against Mount Ester of Quebec and Shingoryeo, 59-82, although they bounced back quickly in an 82-75 win over Vricksinburg State of Ranoria. Though it seemed that they are nervously playing in front of their fans, as they suffered another embarrassing home loss to NIFB Virkaja of Savojarna this time, 70-58, before closing out Matchday 4 with a hammering of Cassadaigua's New Lakeland, 88-64. They currently sit 9th and will hope for a better turnout from Matchday 5 onwards.

Colegio de Nuno Espirito Santo
CNES also made a 2-2 record in their four games in Drawkland's Flying Drawk Conference, with the Fantasmas Morados upset in the first day against BohemiaIV's Buke U, before dealing wins over Cassadaigua's Concord Heights Beauty School and Vangaziland's Blue Coast U, however Talladega beat them between the second and fourth matchday. Unlike UH though, they are able to draw their support from the home crowd which they convert to wins, it is their travels that they haven't got any results from.

Basko Unibertsitatea
Basko U meanwhile has made the best start of the eight Hispino schools. The 'Haranurdina Panterak', or 'Panthers of Vallezul' preyed on their first four opponents, Applachia's Western Appalachia (78-69), Barnley Tech of Kohnhead (67-59), Air Force of Vangaziland (105-77), and Silvedania's Lagea Penninsula (94-77), to level with Drawkland's Old Mountain being the only unbeaten teams in the Royal Conference organized in Newmanistan.

Ipar-mendebaldeko Hispanako Unibertsitatea
ImHU Mendizaleak (Mountaineers) meantime struggled at the start of the Five Star Conference, with a 1-3 record, winning only against St. Croix of Quebec and Shingoryeo and taking losses against Portia of Lisander, Mountainview of Silvedania, and then the ever present Sadeg State. With the poor performances they are currently 14th in the conference organized based in Cassadaigua.

Pamantasan ng Silangang Hispinas
The Mandaragat (Mariners) had a poor first two games in Quebec and Shingoryeo's Calania Conference, losing to Pocono City Tech, 65-71, and Northwest Kalactin's Lismore Christian, 84-91. They turned the results around when they bombed Bassachusetts by 55 points, 103-48, and then beat Squidroidia's Armed Forces Academy, 67-54.

Unibersidad sa Cebuenas
The Cebuenas-based Kabog (Bats) were the unexpected team of the first four matchdays for Hispinas as they had a 3-1 record in Drawkland's Planetary Conference. Only losing to Suryapur from Pratapgahd, they beat the other three opponents Storevik-Ejana of Savojarna, Ezra of Baker Park, and Bompton of Saint Kanye, their biggest upset of their three wins.

Instituto de Azucena
The Avispas (Wasps) meanwhile were also had an unexpected start, 3-1, and losing only to another school from Pratapgadh, Chittorgarh. They beat Diplomacy of Raspotochje, Leitner of Xanneria, and Pawlograd Tech of Savojarna.

Fans of these colleges hopes to bring more wins for Hispinas to increase their chances of sending as many schools to the Ultra 64 as they can.

Cryptokleptics Deliver the Drama With 83-82 Victory
Over University of New Gardenalia

Led by big man Dennis Algorand at center and Michael Tezos at Power Forward, the Cryptokleptics rallied for a second half comeback after falling behind at halftime, down 49-37 at the buzzer at that point. With our MPI squad already not having fared so well in their first few games, it looked to be a continuation of that trend.

Fortunately, as we mentioned, the team came back in an impressive rally. Dennis Algorand, a rebound specialist, finished with a whopping sixteen on the day to go along with six points, all inside the paint of course. More importantly, ten of those came in the second half, getting the ball into the hands of other guys like Tezos or Ezra Tether. Tether, the most consistently "okay" player on the roster was steady throughout, as always.

Meanwhile, a true moonshot specialist had to be brought out come the fourth quarter, when the team was still down six with just a few minutes to play. And that's where Kanan Theta thrives. Theta has a tendency to not advertise himself with the ball, if you know what we mean, he's not particularly threatening. However, we will point out again that his moonshot is something to see, and the freshman delivered with his only two shots of the night, going 2/2 from beyond the three point line to draw the game to a tie at 81-81.

Unfortunately, Dennis Algorand had a blunder on New Gardenia's last possession, fouling the shooter and leading to their hitting a free throw. Nothing to worry about. Ezra Tether took the ball down the court, and the stable presence of this team was able to get set up Michael Tezos nicely for a game-winning layup. Yeah, sorry, no dunk, we know, that would've been a lot more fun. Don't worry, Bochniak Ether will be recieving a strongly worded letter for not coaching his players to give us a poster shot for the game winner.

Anyway, the Cryptokleptics seem to be showing the most promise of any Ranorian team in this tourney! But hey, no one really has any idea what's going to happen, this is the NSCAA!

MIXED RESULTS

ST. CATHERINE - The four squads in NSCAA Season 12 have started their respective seasons. All have been competitive, and three have .500 or better records (Southern Dinagat State being the outlier at 1-3). Their northern rivals, the Panthers, have surprised many in going to a 4-0 start in a rough and tumble conference. We will recap week 1 for all four squads.

SOUTHERN DINAGAT STATE RAMS (1-3)

The Rams started with a relative tail-whooping to Vukojevac, 80-67. The team as a whole shot three-for-twenty eight from beyond the arc. Yes you read that right. 3 for 28. Eleven percent - 10.7 to be specific - from long range. Four players by the end had fouled out, which shows how badly overmatched they were.

Their second game was their first victory, beating Belle Haven State 73-66. It was a whole lot closer than the score indicates, as the green and black went 17-for-18 at the line to finish the game, including 6-for-6 in the final minute.

Game three was the exact opposite, as College of Ware took advantage at the line in the closing minutes to hold off SDSU 74-65. The Rams played well, but couldn't overcome a 20-point halftime defecit.

Their most recent game was the most agonizing, as they fell to Taksashila City College 78-74. The Rams had a chance to take the lead in the final 20 seconds, but saw a three point attempt rattle off the back iron. It was, however, their most complete game so far.

SUSQUEHANNA PIONEERS (2-2)

Susquehanna started with a nailbiter, winning on a buzzer-beating three 69-68 over Carleton College. That's all that needs to be said.

Lerna returned the favor, so to speak, hitting a three with 0.2 on the clock to send the Pioneers to defeat 78-75.

Inkopolis from Squidroidia handed Susquehanna their most lopsided loss so far 80-73 that involved a few garbage time threes from the Pioneers.

Kohnface City took the brunt of the frustration from the IU loss, as Susquehanna blew them out 77-66. Twelve threes helped the Pioneer cause.

ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN CRUSADERS (2-2)

The simplest way to describe the Crusaders' first two games is horrible. There is nothing to say about either, so we will just give you the final scores and be done with it. Ducentu State 94, ACU 66. Kentucky Commonwealth 91, ACU 69.

Against ITM (sorry, too long to type), the purple clad home squad squeaked out a 64-60 win that wasn't decided until the last ten seconds, when Atlantic Christian benefitted from a questionable foul call, to hit free throws to set the final. The game was tied 26-26 at the half.

Pormut held tight for 45 minutes of game four, but the Crusaders pulled away late for a 79-70 win. ACU's point guard had a double-double with 34 points and 10 assists. He was one rebound shy of a triple-double.

NORTHERN DINAGAT STATE PANTHERS (4-0)

Banija has their powerhouses in NSCF with Norther Moravica and Loyola-Istria, but Moravica game Northern Dinagat all it could handle, as the Panthers won 82-75.

Soria held tough, and Northern Dinagat sweated out a 79-70 win. It was truly balanced, as the bench picked up 15 points, and the starters chipped in with 8 (C), 20 (PG), 9 (SG), 13 (PF), and 14 (SF).

Bornell gave NDSU a major scare, but the Panthers escaped with a 79-75 win. The small forward picked up 25, with the starting point guard picking up 32 on his own.

The Panthers battled to a 93-82 win over Universidad del Pacifico, that also saw a scuffle resulting in the head coach and reserve center for NDSU both ejected.

The head coach said post-game, "In some ways, we are lucky to be undefeated. We need to work harder to stay that way."

Hey guys! Welcome back to my corner of the internet for everything college football! I, of course, usually cover the NSCF, especially the two Banijan schools, as well as domestic college football here in Banija. But I'm a U of M grad, aren't I? The University of Moravica are the dictionary definition of a basketball school, especially these days. Two straight NSCAA Championship games, 3 years apart. Defending national champions. This year is finally our year, right?

As a U of M grad, I always pay attention to the NSCAAs. Now, this blog always gives you a different perspective. I can't talk to you about the X's and O's of basketball, and really don't have a damn clue which Banijan schools will have the biggest impact in the NSCAAs. But here's what I can do- rank nicknames. That's right! Your authoritative guide to the best nicknames in NSCAA 12.

Random Ranking- Nicknames

Now, the following is a list of schools that can be ranked.

*OOC Note: I only included schools with rosters up to and including Cassadaigua's roster post, as that is when I started writing this RP. Sorry to anyone whose nickname were released after that!

We're going to rank all of these schools whose nicknames I can find. We'll rank these primarily based on the factors of uniqueness and fierceness. Is this a fierce sounding nickname? Does it have a fierce meaning? Alternatively, is it unique- are there a million schools out there with the same nickname as yours?

Unrankable

Drawk Corps University (Drawkland)
University of Moravica Golden Bears

As far as I can tell, Drawk Corps University is the only Drawk school that... Doesn't have a nickname? I searched far and wide, and it just seems ot be called Drawk Corps University. As for the University of Moravica- well, they're my alma mater. You can't expect me to be non-biased regarding them, right? And it's obvious we have the best nickname(a Golden freaking Bear- what's cooler than that?) But, to prevent any accusations of bias, I just won't rank them.

And to say- for groups 1-4, schools are not ranked within those groups. They are simpled grouped into a category. Tier 6 is the only place where school nicknames will be ranked individually.

Group 1- The Rest
Most of these are fine nicknames. But they aren't unique or fierce or interesting enough to go any higher on this list. No analysis necessary.

The Northern Moravica Cougars are the worst of all of the above, because obviously. Anyone who likes Northern Moravica should be thrown into the Farf part of the Shango-Fogoa basin, and forced to fight the kraken over there. Most of these nicknames are fine- but they're just that. Fine. Doesn't have that something extra. There are some unique ones though. Fireflies. Bats. There's one that's the Engineers- which c'mon, what's so fierce about an engineer? Seems like they're bragging about what they'll do post playing career, rather than trying to scare you today.

Group 2- Second Tier
These nicknames are plenty fine, better than any above. However, I don't think they've done quite enough to get into the top tier on this list.

There are some interesting nicknames here- but they are not quite top tier. I don't mind the Five Musketeers- it's a solid nickname. Cyperbunks too. But they don't have the pizzazz that I'm looking for. Bullets is solid. Lady Lions- won't somebody tell our BPer friends that there is actually a term for female Lions, called Lionnesses? That sounds much more majestic than a lady Lion. Lionesses would've been top tier, but Lady Lion is laziness- and therefore I had to downgrade it. Look, Red Cardinals probably would have gone to the other list so far if it wasn't in Spanish, but Cardenales Rojos is so much cooler in Spanish. But- is there a such thing as a non-red cardinal? It'd be

Group 3- Questions Asked
Nicknames that do not make a ton of sense.

Now, c'mon. A lot of these come from the NASCAR Cup Series, but there are a couple of other countries on here as well. What is a Mechanor? Can somebody from Drawkland tell me? And what is a Panterak? I don't have a freaking clue. How can I judge a nickname when I don't know what it means? And then, the three NASCAR Cup Series schools. Action Team? Big Red? The Club? The Club. What does that even mean? What club? The Auto Club? It'd be like Saguenay calling themselves the "Saguenays Saguenays." So it's gotta have another meaning, but I have no idea what it would be.

Group 4- Badass University name but the nickname leaves a lot to be desired

Look, any of these four schools I would want to go to, based on the name alone. Susquehanna? I have no idea what it means, but sign me up. University of Wisdom? Genius. Heshima & Usian means wisdom and honor in Banija's national language(Olusanke), which is also bad ass sounding. And Hongxai is just a cool name to pronounce. I'm down for any of those schools.

3-1: Sudoeste Plays Spoiler For Mariners This Time Around
Record: Lost to Sudoeste by 4 but then beat CCC by 7, Coffs Harbour by 2 and North Ankole by 13.
Verdict: Despite the tight home loss to Sudoeste, this was still a good performance by Portside overall. Dami Wong was good in the 3-game winning stretch, but we'll see how this unit does against other opposition.

3-1: Sadeg State Finally Knock Off Wallabies
Record: Beat Mountainview College by 3, IHU by 19 and Neroville College by 3 before losing to Sadeg State by 10.
Verdict: We knew that this run would end at some point and Sadeg State was the one to do it, now the only undefeated team in the conference. Pohiva Nukuʻalofa was clutch a few times, but it will be interesting to see how this UWWB side handles defeat.

3-1: Islanders Impress (But Not In Sankt Adelheid)
Record: Beat Austin College by 7, lost to SAU by 20 but then beat LCU by 16 and TCC by 13.
Verdict: While that match in Sankt Adelheid was a write-off, the other 3 games were brilliant by this AHU squad. Sayeed Abdulla was a rock and a shooter in most situations, so who knows how this team will fare later down the line.

2-2: Another 50-50 Split For Los Leones
Record: Beat Pallet Town by 25, lost to Keisler College by 3, beat KCU by 4 before losing NUS Sjoedrhavn by 4.
Verdict: Another 2-2 run by UC, but both losses were very close indeed. Luis Lainez was good during this run, but it will be interesting to see how this team tries to become more clutch.

2-2: Certainly An Improvement By Los Surfistas
Record: Lost to HIT by 2, then beat Genia by 11 and Mount Ester by 10 before falling to Vricksinburg State by 2.
Verdict: 2-2 is certainly better than 1-3 for UP and both defeats were only by the barest of margins. Rafaelle was good in all 4 games, but whether or not they can keep this up remains to be seen

2-2: Rockier Waters For Green Flash This Time
Record: Lost to South Caddonia by 29, beat Empress Jessica I by 16, lost to CNES by 16 before beating Sarnia Tech by 20.

Record: Beat Nampa State by 4, Gonzaga (not that one) by 19 and Belle Haven by 16 before galling to KCC by 30.
Verdict: Certainly some great play by CSU this time around but that loss to conference-leading Kumbhalgarh City College was certainly a hard one to swallow. Matvei Dzhanayev was a stand out during the 3-win run, but can this team bounce back from the heavy defeat?

2-2: Major Upset Shows Dragons' Potential In Spades
Record: Beat HSEDC by 23 and Loyola-Istria by 2 before falling to RAS St. Andrei by 22 and RNA by 5.
Verdict: Winning and losing this time for HPU, with the home upset of Loyola-Istria the main highlight (complete with court-storming). Yusuke Tokunaga was great during that upset, but it will be interesting to see if this team can move on from their losing ways.
