Court der Smash, 2 pm. The final match of the first Tier 1 Tournament of NSTT Season 7 was finally upon us. For the last week, Gergary and the 3rd Steinigestraße Open has entertained us for some of the biggest stars and even some of the biggest shocks - especially from Indusse because apparently, they are the agents of chaos. Spencer Kohnhead and Marcus Hathwar had already taken the doubles crown but now, the true main event awaited us - the 3rd meeting of the TJUN-ian 11th seed and the Cenian 6th seed, De Kloor of Toropo vs Lonus Varalin. The first meeting was a win for Ceni's man at the ITT but Jean would tie the series soon enough, beating Varalin to claim the Diamond Trophy for himself. Now, in this Tier 1 Final, a chance to gain an advantage over the other in a matchup that may be slowly developing into a rivalry of the future.

The first set would be a duel for that ages as both men aimed for that ever-illusive first advantage. The play would be as tight as you'd expect from a T1 Final and the players were more determined than ever to try and forebay any advantage being given to the opposition in any way, shape or form. In the end, this set ended up going to a tiebreaker because that's what we all need - more tennis! Unfortunately for the viewers, this one wouldn't last for long as Varalin finally found a break to take first blood 6-4.

The second and third sets are grouped together because these will detail the potential comeback of our player, a player who's been through so much in his NSTT journey even before this contest was made official. The second set saw Jean try and go for an early advantage and somehow, someway, he actually managed to do that with a thundering shot to make it 3-1. After that, he would just push on to make it 6-3 and send this contest to the final set it deserved. Set 3 was tight to begin with, as you'd expect until we got to 3-3 when cracks began to form on the gameplan of Varalin. He began to falter, harder than he did in Set 2, and suddenly, the man with the tattoo of Monokuma on his leg was in the driver's seat to the final point. He tried his best not to falter himself and not give any emotion away until, at least, we won that final point to take the set 6-3.

Game, Set and Match, Mr. van de Kloor.

He had done it again. Jean was a champion again. He looked almost shocked once he shook hands with everyone afterwards - a sign that even he didn't expect to reach the apex of this tournament in some way. He would enter the Top 10 of the Singles rankings once again, but also make history in his own right - becoming the first TJUN-ian to win multiple titles, not just 1. If the "King of TJUN-ian Singles" was coronated at the Diamond Trophy, then this victory would certainly be the magnum opus. Long live the King? Maybe.

Inès was out for a late afternoon jog when her running music was interrupted by her phone ringing. She pulled her phone out of the pocket of her yoga pants and smiled when she looked down to see on the screen "Incoming video call: Camille". She let her pace slow as she swiped to answer the call, finding a convenient tree by the side of the road to lean up against. As the video turned on, she saw that her brother had already propped his phone up on his desk and turned back to his computer.

"Is the draw out then?" Inès asked.

"Yeah it just came out a couple minutes ago, I'm about to open it," said Camille.

"Go on!"

Camille double-clicked and stared expectantly at the screen as the PDF loaded. He read off titles as he scrolled down. "Singles, doubles qualifying..."

Inès wiped some sweat from her forehead. Her face was beaming, both with the healthy glow of exertion and the excitement of the anticipation. After their performance at Steinigestrasse she was eager to get back into another tournament, one where another good performance would be even more rewarded on a bigger stage.

"Uh, let me just search our names," mumbled Camille. He held down control F and quickly typed in 'fournier'. Two results, right next to each other. Brother and sister. "It looks like we're starting off against a Salmagundian pair," he said. "Milo Ealdræd and ProudSmith," he read from the sheet.

"They did pretty well at Mendez Bay, I think; made it to the quarterfinals," said Inès. "But went out in the first round at the Cenian Open and Steinigestrasse."

"We'll have to watch some tapes," said Camille. "I think we can do very well though."

"Me too."

"I'm not just saying that! I know the end of last year was rough and then we missed the Cenian Open, but you know how much we've been training. We gave everybody a taste of that in Gergary. This time I think we're ready to go the way."

"I know we are! Camille, I'm so excited."

Camille turned from his computer and picked up his phone. "Awesome. I guess I'll see you tomorrow morning when we meet with coach for footage review and whatever else we have planned."

"Alright, see you there!" The last frame of Inès's video was her brother reaching toward the phone to hang up, but her phone was already back in her pocket and her music was back on. Pushing herself away from the tree she had rested at, she set off down the road once more, her feet bouncing off the tarmac in an even stride whose rhythm kept the beat of the endless fight to stay at the top of the world's tennis elite.

LJUBOMIR IVANKOVIĆ - 22 years old, 185 cm, 79 kg, plays with his right hand, two-handed backhand. The player from the baseline prefers clay, but he also manages very well on hard surfaces. He can keep the ball in the game for a long time and has a great drop shot!

LUCIJA BAGARIĆ - 19 years old, 183 cm tall, 72 kg, born in Bistua Nuova and also plays for Smash Tennis Club.
With her tennis club, she won the DR Srednjaci championship last year. Muscular constitutions of the body, she plays with her right hand, one-handed backhand is also her best shot in the game. She likes all substrates but mostly grassy and hard courts.
Great foot work and pure power from the baseline give her the ability to quickly transit the game to the net.
She plays very well on the net, she also plays doubles so her volley is great, she is very successful, it is hard to lob her.
Her service is phenomenal. Serve quickly, powerfully and very accurately. Lucija has the best ratio of ases vs double foults in Srednjaci. She served 504 aces in 72 matches played, which is 7 per match.
She served the most aces in match against Irina Prydruchna in the first round of the Dormatisi Open. In two sets, she served 26 aces and only 1 double fault.
Strong service allows her to play "serve-volley".
Her fastest forehand was 168 kmh (104 mph) and her one-handed backhand was 161 kmh (100 mph). Her service is 82% of interceptions and after the first service she gets 86% of points! The average speed of the first service is 179 kmh (111mph) and the fastest speed service is 211 kmh (131 mph).
In the individual women's competition, she won gold at the championship in DR Srednjaci with a victory in the final against the then champion Tena Špiričić with 6: 7, 6: 2, 6: 4.
In mixed doubles, she was first in a pair with Leonid Farkaš.
Lucija Bagarić made great progress in the return game. The opponent's second serve waits inside the court in front of the baseline and perceives the direction of the first serve very well so that he returns the ball to the opponent very well and strongly.
Lucija had a win-loss ratio of 66: 6 last season. She won 10 titles in the DR Srednjaci and earned 3.1 million Dalats.

TENA ŠPIRIČIĆ - 20 years, 179 cm, 69 kg, born in Katanija. An excellent tactician on the field, a very intelligent player with great technique. She compensates for her's lack of strong punches with fast legs, great technique and quick reactions.
She reads the game very well and closes the possibilities of getting easy points to the opponent. Does'nt make a lot of unforced errores during the match, all around player, with incredible defensive skills, return to the field every ball she catches. She has great overhead smash, terrific volley, great forehand and backhand.
Serves accurately and precisely, rarely makes mistakes on service. The balls have rotations and bounce faster in contact with the ground.
There is no speed like Lucija Bagarić but her first serves are hard to read and return. Tena also uses a two-handed hidden backhand that is also hard to read. She often annoys his opponents with his game because She returns each ball and thus forces the opponent to take an one more shot, which is often an unforced error for an annoyed opponent.
She is a former Srednjaci champion, and a former junior Srednjaci champion. The last tournament she won is the Melarit Gold Coast Open two months ago.

IVAN ŠTIMAC - 21 years old, all around player but most successful on clay courts.
183 cm, 82 kg, muscular build, left-handed play, one-handed backhand. A very awkward player who can beat anyone but doesn’t have a constant so he can easily lose as well. He is very fast and agile, he moves great on the field, he has a good volley and more than a great forehand with which he has an advantage in the game.
Ivan is quite good on the service, he doesn't make mistakes, but he is not a service player either.
Born in Katanija he plays for the Comet Tennis Club. The champion is DR Srednjaci, in the final he was better than Ljubomir Ivanković 5: 7,6: 3,6: 3, 4: 6,6: 1!
Very combative player, runs a lot on the field and has great endurance.
He won only 2 tournaments last year including the championship. He even played 6 times in the finals and lost all 6 to Ivanković. Win-loss ratio 42:18.
Ivan Štimac played qualifiers at the Steiningestrassetournament and was better than John Ivanisevic (BGG) in the first match with 7: 6,6: 7,6: 4. In the first round, Goran McEnroe (BGG) won with 7: 5, 6: 3.
In the second round, he lost smoothly to Martha McNeil (27) (GRU) with 6: 1, 6: 0.
At the Electrum Slam they will have a very difficult task against tenth seed Marisa Maradona.

(10) Marisa Maradona (CEN) vs (WC) Ivan Štimac (SRE)

Leonid Farkaš/Goran Ibrahimović The most successful tennis pair in DR Srednjaci, an incredible series of 9 tournaments in a row undefeated. A great couple who understand each other very well and there is a special energy between the two of them on the field.
LEONID FARKAŠ 24 years old, the oldest of 5 children. brother Hrvoje also plays tennis but he is 13 years old. Sister Danijela Farkaš is an athlete, high jump. Ivana Farkaš, second sister is a swimmer and his youngest brother Leon Farkaš trains football.
He is 187 cm tall, 87 kg, plays with his right hand, two-handed backhand. Excellent service that can go at speeds over 220 km / h.
Born in Katania, he plays for the Comet Tennis Club.
GORAN IBRAHIMOVIĆ - 23 years old, 180 cm tall, 78 kg. Very fast player with great reflexes. He reads the game great and has a very good overview of the game.

Koreleva will play qualifications on ELECTRUM Slam and try to make the first points for international rankings.

IGOR MATKOVIĆis 17 years old and is the most talented junior in DR Srednjaci.
189 cm tall and 86 kg heavy, great player both from the baseline and on the net, almost complete. He plays all surfaces well.
An incredibly fast player who arrives and returns every ball. What definitely makes him dangerous is his return with which he smashes opponents.
He has an excellent and precise service, plays with his right hand, two-handed backhand. He is currently convincingly No. 1 junior in DR Srednjaci.
Matković will play qualifications on ELECTRUM Slam, this will bi his first international match.

JOSIP RATKOVIĆ is 18 years old, plays with his right hand and two-handed backhand. 191 cm tall and 85 kg heavy, very mobile with fast and strong hits from the baseline.
He was born in katania and is currently number 2 on the junior table in DR Srednjaci. He has won one junior tournament.
Ratković will play qualifications on ELECTRUM Slam, this will bi his first international match.

DORA KLEMENČIĆ she is 17 years old, an extremely talented young tennis player who has an incredible series of 29:1 ( WINN : LOSS) in DR Srednjaci!
She won 5 junior tournaments and played one final in a row. 185 cm high, her height helps her with service that goes over 195 kmh!
She plays well on the net, plays forhend with right hand and plays with a two-handed backhand.
A very fast tennis player and almost everything get back into the court. She is incredibly mobile for her height.
On ELECTRUM Slam she wil faced qualifications as well an try to get in main draw.

Electrum Slam, Here We Come!

Pemecutan Puri, - After the end of Steinigestrasse Open, the players are now focus on Electrum Slam. This competition is the second Grand Slam tournament in this season (after Cenian Open) and also the last event in Outdoor Hard Court season. From the previous season, Pemecutan players have never reached final. The best performance in Singles were made by Dewa Putu Adrian Putra and Maria Sophia Lubis. Both have reached quarterfinal, Adrian Putra in Cenian Open this season while Sophia Lubis in Electrum Slam previous season. In Double, Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati have made into the semifinal in AO Open last season.

At the start of this season in Cenian Open, Pemecutanian players made their highest position at quarterfinals. In Single, Dewa Putu Adrian Putra was defeated by Mindy Waterford from Kohnhead. And Oka Sulastra/Luh Putu Yundari was lost against Spencer Kohnhead/Marcus Hathwar from Kohnhead and Electrum. The surprise result came from Komang Agus Artawan who made into Round 4 and even defeating Marisa Maradona from Ceni in Round 3.

Starting the 7th season have been quite a journey for Pemecutanian players. The most memorable one was in Steinigestrasse where most of Pemecutanian players were lost in Second Round and only relying on their double, Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati. They are finally being defeated in quarterfinal by the dual country pair, Spencer Kohnhead/Marcus Hathwar. Pemecutan is also losing their players after Chandra Wiguna and Andi Permadi decided to retire. For the Electrum Slam, Maria Sophia Lubis is eager to replicate her performance last season where she is able to reached quarterfinal. Fortunately, no Pemecutanian players will be played in Qualification Round. And from 8 singles and 4 doubles, only 3 of them that are seeded. In Singles, Dewa Putu Adrian Putra and Ngurah Putra Muliawan are being seeded. And it is the first time Ngurah Putra Muliawan is seeded higher than Adrian Putra. In Double, only Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati that being seeded. From the drawing, there is a possibility of 2 Pemecutanian players meet in the First Round. They are Dewa Ayu Cintya Dewi which will be facing Ayu Ratih Kemalasari. Hopefully the host official will made change about this.

In domestic, Pemecutan have started their PTA Tour, the domestic tennis tour. And it has finished their second tournament. This tour will ensure the regeneration of tennis players in the country. As the reborn of NSTT Tour many have change in Pemecutan international squad. Kadek Adi Wiranatha was retired in mid Season 6. Oka Sulastra and Luh Putu Yundari decided to focus on double. And the last is Chandra Wiguna and Andi Permadi who decided to retire at the start of Season 7. With this constant changing, regeneration is a must. And with the running of PTA Tour, it is likely to be.

Tennis: 3 singles and 2 doubles entrants from Gergary to undergo qualifiers

ELECTRUM - The sporting organization of Gergary has entered 8 singles and 4 doubles participants for the Nationstates Tennis Tour (NSTT)'s second grand slam tournament in its seventh edition, but not all of them were able to make the main draw, as three entries for the singles tournament and two entries for the doubles tournament would have to go through the qualifiers to make it to the main tournament.

In the singles side, Vanessza Pataki, whose doubles entry with Marvin Weinwurm makes it to the main draw, will start her quest in Qualifier 2 against San Ortelio's Domenico Lunghi, and will face the winner of Ada Nunez and Igor Matkovic for the right to face 27th seed Martha McNeil in the first round proper. Ralph Henschel, who recently announced his departure from the Steinigestrasse Tennis Club, will have Leo Shenron for company in the first qualifying round, and then have to face either Emilio Robles, Alanna Choo, or Erika Kamamoto where in the one who will get out of qualifiers will face wild card Tena Spiricic, who made it out of qualifiers last time she participated in an NSTT tournament. Rosemarie Strobl meanwhile will face Gnejsian Sibylla Naess, and if she wins that match, will then face the winner of the match between Mikhail Korotkevich and Atlas Dominguez. The victor of that match will then have a date with the winner of the first Qualifier which will either be one of the following - Stephen Saltswoon, Shayna Lucero, Zahra Tusita, or Lïnumeda Kondu.

The two Gergarian doubles who found their way to the qualifiers will face doubles entries from Hafamarimët in their first matches. In Qualifier 3 bracket, Tamara Takacs and Albert Taussig faces the pair of Badan Knačpïh and Ïmal Hundrahdan in the first match and will face the winner of Margie Brown and Grayson Norris vs André Bapako and Isis Dimpal, In case they progress into the main tournament, they will face the Radkkar sisters of Eva and Ava in the first round proper. Bianka Arendt and Armin Miksa, both notable singles participants from the nation, will face Rama Čïbtënïku and Nina Dolvanova, and if they win, will meet the winner of Odelia Ayers and IllusiveTramp vs Alanna Choo and Jean-Luc Pocnic for a spot in the main tournament where they will face Evgeny Kondratenko and Oleg Vlasov if they get out of the qualifiers.

In the singles, Donat Kis, as in the Steinigestrasse Open, is the only seeded participant (22) in the singles tournament, with the other four, Orsolya Szabo, Bianka Arendt, Armin Miksa, and Eckehard Blumenberg being unseeded. Meanwhile in the doubles tournament, Alexandra Barna and Ralph Henschel who had the best performance of the Gergarian entries in their home tournament, is seeded 16th in the grand slam tournament.

Sins of The Father
It's never easy following a great parent. Arne knew this better than most Gnejsians. True, his father never excelled in tennis, so you wouldn't think the pressure would be on. But for some reason people looked at his father's skill and accomplishments as prime minister and expected that to manifest in his court performance. He had skill, for sure, and he was improving rapidly, no question. But people always demanded more. His few outings on the international stage had never been complete failures – given his age and experience – but then again still never quite enough. The build-up to the Electrum Slam had been even more intense than usual, with the hounding from all corners incessant.

The presence of the players from Baggieland had not made things easier. Because it wasn't enough that the prime minister's son was expected to be a great tennis player, he was also expected to aid in matters of diplomacy, when that suited the Foreign Office. Letting the Baggies play with the prime minister's son was deemed prudent, given how that further accentuated the level of respect shown a friend. He'd asked his father to intervene. Normally, he probably would've. But not this time. "It is expected," he said. "And one does not decline a friend," he continued, touching the right side of his chest and bowing his head ever so slightly. Damn Rock of Friendship. But it was true. It is known that one does not decline a friend.

He had been teamed up to train with Goran McEnroe. While charming, in a thuggish kind of way, his erratic behaviour had filled Arne's days with a degree of unpredictability he was not accustomed to. He would switch from causal stories about the beaches of Hawthorn to frantic rants about that one umpire who ruled against him in the Steinigestrasse Open in a split second. And when Arne asked him if that thing about the chalk was serious – because he hadn't much experienced that himself on hard court – McEnroe had given him a look that would've chilled the bones of a dragon. The Baggie hadn't spoken to him much after that, but when they changed sides or had a drink of water, he would sometimes lean in – too close – and hiss something like "Your sheep's clothing don't fool me".

Fortunately for the Baggie, he was apt at translating that intense – insanity-bordering – energy into tennis. He had great ferocity in his game, and he often left Arne outplayed. Unfortunately for the Baggie, that same paranoia-fuelled intensity had landed him in prison after he assaulted a small child just outside the compound; apparently McEnroe had accused the lad of crying something. That had been a real nightmare for the upper echelons, and an unwanted test in how far friendship stretches and what the rock actually allows for. Stretches pretty far, and allows for a great deal, seemed to be the conclusion. The man hardly spent any time incarcerated at all before he was sent abroad under the cover of darkness.

Arne had seen him around the players area after arriving in Electrum, but had made sure to keep his distance; McEnroe still had something akin to a deranged hunger in his eyes. He was trying to focus on his qualifier against Telo, but he was having a hard time of it. The other Gnejsian players he knew seemed to be in a zone, but he just felt lost. One the night prior to his game, he found himself alone walking along a boardwalk. As he looked up, a billboard hurled a question at him "Feeling lost? Need a guide? No worries!". It was merely an advertisement from the Centralis Tourist Office, aimed at visiting spectators, but it resonated with Arne on a deeper level.

Domenico Lunghi played around a bit with the strings of his racket. They had been set in prime shape ahead of his confrontation with Pataki, so that couldn’t be blamed for his opening set. The Gergarian didn’t even need to put the pedal to the metal to take it and looked fairly comfortable that she could be on her way to her first singles win of the season. Somehow, Lunghi realized, he managed to draw players with a losing streak only. Unfortunately, he offered them an easy out to break that series. Kohnheadian Covalt might have just won her first qualifier, it still felt painful to know that he had been the sole blimp in her series of early eliminations.

Despite being an early qualifying rubber between two virtually unknowns, droves of tennis-mad Electrumites had made their way to the outfield. Quite a few of them had made their way elsewhere by now, the connoisseurs sensing that this match provided less entertainment than what was being dished up in other places.

Why was he here?

So far, Domenico hadn’t yet found the right answer to it. Because he had to? Or because he wanted to? He had arrived the day before yesterday, as grandfather had arranged a spot for him on a private jet with vacation goers. It had been a splendid, luxurious flight and he really felt like he clicked with the daughter of the construction tycoon – for a second he wondered whether he should play or travel along with them to the beaches near Somer. The Orion Hotel was grand, marvelous and had never felt lonelier.

After a dinner by himself, Domenico had gone up to his room but after flipping the channels of the tv for half an hour, the temptation to go out and do something had been too strong to resist. After all, he was traveling the world for this and he wouldn’t get a proper look of the beautiful city? Still – voices in the back of his mind told him not to. The Slam was an incredibly mediatized event over here, who know who would notice him out on the street? In his current conundrum, keeping his head down seemed the best way forth. Eventually, he settled on the middle ground, picking up his synergy card to visit the hotel casino. He had never done that in his life and well, a bit of a thrill couldn’t harm, right?

After finding a proper outfit, he stepped into the large hall. The Orion was a city in itself and Domenico could imagine some travelers spending their entire holiday inside. And yet, in that large ant heap of players, staff, supporters, press and others… His eye fell on the first table. A craps table. Rather than the lonely slot machines, it’s great game to play in group, having strangers becoming your best friend in seconds – if it’s a winning table, of course. But it wasn’t the game, the ringing of chips going back and forth, that caught his attention. It was the group of six which crouched around one side of the table, all in matching light blue jerseys.

They were… They were themselves, first of all. Fiorenzo looked at it from aside, with the mysterious smile that reminded him of a teacher out with his teenage pupils: slightly amused with their enthusiasm, slightly condescending. Luciano hung over the side, loudly debating with Massimo where the next batch of chips had to go – it came with a lot of hand signals but also a lot of laughter. Oscar counted the chips for them, did the stack management before handing it to his older brother Massimo. Andrea looked a bit annoyed, probably over an earlier loss. And Graziano, the veteran took a similar stance as Fiorenzo but with a different twinkle in the eye – the one that continuously seemed to wonder if all of this was a dream or reality.

Two minutes later, Domenico was back in his room. Of course, he didn’t know them as well from the domestic circuit as the others but… That looked a lot like a get-together with all Ortelian players – but him. Oh, how he missed the beaches of Somer, suddenly.

And sitting here, getting his ass kicked by Pataki, the sentiment only strengthened. Maybe he…

“You’ve got to get forward more.”

Somehow, his mouth must have made a perfect question mark, so the man who stood behind him – on the first row of the stands - repeated it.

“You’ve got to get forward and take the game on. That’s perfect on this surface and it worked already for me in Mendez Bay.”

Even if he was giving instructions, a broad smile did not disappear from the face of Luciano Crepaldi.

“Thanks, ehm… I,” Domenico stuttered.
“We’re not all Massimo who can opt to just slam it with power and see where it ends.”

Domenico halted, not sure what to say. Why on earth was Luciano here? Didn’t he have… Practice? Rest? Anything?

“Sorry for missing the first bit,” he read his mind, “had been sparring with Val. Got to support the few Ortelians, no?”
“Oh.”

Domenico still struggled to speak words like regular people. Last night there was a part of him that wanted to be a part of that camaraderie. But deep down, he also admitted that he had ran off and hidden because, if they had seen him and if they would have invited him over, what next? Maybe they would just treat him like shit – didn’t they all think he was just some papa’s boy?

“Really think you can win this one and then Nunez… Not easy, but not impossible either,” Crepaldi continued whilst the umpire indicated it was time for the second set.
“Th… Thanks?” Lunghi spoke.
“No, seriously, you can win. Well, if you want to.”

IT'S TIME FOR TENNIS

Qualifications for the ELECTRUM Slam have begun and our representatives are fighting to enter the main draw.
In this show, we will take you through matches.

Lucija Bagarić (Q) (SRE)          6   6   9

A very talented young tennis player, Lucija Bagarić, won in her first qualifying match Frank Dalby with 6:7,6:4,9:7!
A very difficult match for a young nineteen-year-old. Lucija had to change the game in this match because her standard service-volley game did not prove to be a winning combination. Lucija had only 28% success on the net. Although she served 16 aces , the percentage of interceptions of the first service was 54%, which is low by her standards, and she made as many as 7 double service errors. She was great on the return but also had a high percentage of points scored on the first serve 82%!
In the first set both players made an early break.
First Frank Dalby took the service away from Lucia but then she immediately retaliated so it went into a tie break where Lucia was reckless and made too many unforced errors. She lost a tie break with 7:1 and also a set with 7:6!
In the second set, she made fewer mistakes, raised the level of her game and with the result 2:2, she made a break for 3:2 with two return winners and two volleys on the net. She successfully kept her serves until the end and won the set with 6: 4! The third set is also the most interesting, Frank Dalby had as many as 8 break opportunities but did not use any of the other side Lucija had 2 break opportunities with the result 7:7, served by Frank Dalby, Lucija reached 40:15 and immediately used the opportunity for 8:7. She served great for 9:7!
"This was the hardest victory of my career.Today was not my day but I am glad I won despite not playing the way I normally play. I won a match like this in both ways,physically and mentally, and now my self-confidence is at the highest level. I am very happy and I hope to make it to the main draw because it has always been my dream." Lucija Bagarić.

Young junior Josip Ratković had a difficult day behind him. He even had to play three matches, one in doubles and two in singles, but he felt what victory meant. In the first qualifying match, Ratković played against Žurhïd Seman and won with 6: 2,3: 6, 6: 0. He started the match very aggressively, hitting every ball hard and running after every ball, and he won the set convincingly with 6: 2. However, he gave up a bit in the second set and Žurhïd Seman played well and won the set with 6: 3. Taught by the lesson from the second set, Ratković put it in the fifth gear again and swept the opponent with 6: 0!

After winning the first round of qualifications in singles, Ratković and Matković playes doubles and won. After that match, he did not have a chance to regenerate for the next qualifying match against Georg Heraklit. For this young tennis player, this pace was too strong and fatigue did its thing. Georg Heraklit easily won that match.
"I am glad that I played even though my strength betrayed me in the last match. I could no longer play at the same level as in the first single match and in doubles. But this is an experience for me on the big stage. I hope to win with Igor Matković. will take us to the main tournament. "Young Ratkovic said.

Ljubomir Ivanković (Q) (SRE)      6   6

Our best tennis player, Ljubomir Ivanković, won his qualifying match against Fonzie Sartin with 6:4,6:3.
Ljubomir imposed his authority right at the beginning, he knocked out his opponent with a smart game. What is important for this match is the ratio of break opportunities and Ivanković did not allow any break opportunities to his opponent while he twice took away the opponent's service and had 6 break opportunities.
Ivankovic will look for a place in the main draw in the match against Grace Covalt (KHD) who winn the match against Gjörëg Čëtan (HAF) with 6:3,6:4 .
"I played well, I wasn't at my 100%, which is good because the form needs to be raised from match to match. I hope to get into the main tournament because that would be great for me and my career." Ivankovic said.

Alina Koreleva (Q) (SRE)          6   6

Young Alina Koreleva achieved her first international victory in her first international match.
She played very strongly and powerfully against Thibaut Berthelot (RCN), almost without a mistake in the first set. Ace services and winners shone from all sides. Thibaut Berthelot didn't have a chance. In the second set, Alina slowed down, she didn't want to spend too much energy, she played as long as it took to win the set and finally the match.
"I was happy with my game. I played everything I imagined. The hard preparations I had helped me a lot. Now I have to rest and prepare for my next match." Said Alina
The next match Alina will play against Alain Moreau (NOV) who was better than André Bapako (ACS) with 4:6,7:6,6:2.

Igor Matković (Q) (SRE)           7   4   4

Igor Matković, our most talented Iraqi under 19, failed to win in his first qualifying single match. Matkovic lost to Ada Nunez (GRU) with 6:7,4:6,4:6 and thus said goodbye to playing in singles. He won in doubles.
"It was hard for me. I missed too many chances in the second set. I had two break chances at 2:2 and I gambled them stupidly. It stayed in my head, I got nervous and lost. I'm glad to have a chance with Ratković to reach the main tournament at least in pairs. " Matković said.

Dora Klemenčić (Q) (SRE)          1   7   8

Another young junior played a great match but left the field in tears, defeated.
Dora Klemenčić lost in one super match the first round of qualifications .Giusto Gomes (YVK) won with 1:6,7:5,8:10. Young Dora played great, the fighting lioness still did not have the strength in the last set and Giusto Gomes came to victory.
The first set Gomes imposed his game and Dora was impressed with her international debut. But Dora restores balance in the second set and is no longer a child on the field but a player hungry for success and wins the set with 7:5. In the third set, both players have opportunities to break at an early stage but do not use them. With the result 7:7, the physiotherapist goes out on the field because Dora got cramps. At 8:8, the second time medical time out. Dora is on the serve but she couldn't take it anymore, she fought to the last breath but the cramps were too strong and she lost her serve range. Gomes easily gets his serve game and concludes the match.
"This was exhausting for me. I just cried because I was close to winning, I played really great and combative. All my effort fell into the water. But now I'm mentally much better and I'm aware that I really did my best. "said young Klemenčić.

The pair Štimac / Bagarić won in the first round of qualifications the pair Iván Flanagon / Ailbhe O'Hannagain (SQR) with 7: 6,0: 6,6: 0.
In the second match, the pair Zunaira Hardy / Myah Cuevas (BUC) is waiting for them.

Our second strongest pair, Špiričić / Španović, beat Zeta Juanis / Zahra Tusita (ERM) with 7:6,4:6,6:4. Špiričić won the Wild Card for the main draw and Španović only plays doubles. The girls had service problems which is weird for them. We hope that these problems are behind them because Amara Charles / Rivera Bassett (BUC) are waiting for them in the next round.

A new beginning
Mikhail Korotkevich became the first Waisnorian player in Electrum Slam to play his game, and it is certainly a good beginning for a tournament:

Mikhail started in qualifying round, where he was paired against Atlas Dominguez from Grearish Union. Korotkevich performed quite a long time ago for the last time the NSTT tournaments and it seemed that he had lost his form - the fight with Atlas was not easy for him. However, he was able to withstand this battle and tip the scales in his favor and snatch victory in the first set with a score of 7-6. The victory in this set clearly gave him confidence in his abilities, and Dominguez, in turn, somewhat lost his form, which he showed in the first set. In the second set, Korotkevich began to play much more efficiently, and it was not difficult for him to defeat Atlas, already with a score of 6-2. Thanks to this, he secured himself a pass to the next round.

We began with a Grand Slam and now, the Open Hard Court Season must end with a Grand Slam. We certainly have enjoyed some good success with the first quarter of our 2nd NSTT season, with a final and a title enjoyed by many in the Isles, but now we must return to the competition that started it all: the Electrum Slam in Centralis. When we began in this sport, 12 players arrived looking for a purpose in their careers, something to fight for on the international stage. Now, one year later, these same 12 players are here once again looking for something special, certainly changed after more than a year on the road. Let's see how they are on the day they returned to the original stage of play.

Last time out it was De Kloor of Toropo who reclaimed the TJUN-ian crown in style with victory in Steinigestraße, rising to the Top 10 in the standings and the only Top 10 seed here in Centralis. He won Best Underdog here last year and now, he's the 7th seed and certainly looking to use this familiar setting to his advantage. His first test this time around in Alexey Pustozerov of Waisnor.

It's almost as if we have a mirror situation between the traditional TJUN-ian Big 2 - whenever one does well, the other faulters. That latter happened to Scarlet in Gergary, falling far in the rankings to now be the 18th seed heading into this tournament. We didn't see much of what she would become in the debut competition, but she certainly will be proving to return to the peak of the sport once again. She takes on Luciano Crepaldi of San Ortelio in Round 1.

If anyone is trying to turn the Top 2 into the Top 3, then that player would be L'artiste. Not really showing much in most of last season, he has been a player in form since the Indoor Hardcouts, turning up to this tournament as the 21st seed, only 3 behind Scarlet herself. It certainly poses questions about whether or not he can continue this good form but with his boyfriend also still seeded, maybe we already have the power couple we expected of TJUN-ian tennis. His opponent in Round 1 is certainly interesting as Botack Andiam of Ceni takes on Baloui.

Speaking of the boyfriend, The Kat of Horizon finds himself as the 32nd and final seed of this competition, meaning 4 of TJUN-ia's 8 singles players are seeded in this tournament - who'd thought you'd say that this time last year? The Kat has certainly been a consistent player in this sport ever since his debut and he will certainly try to put that to good use against Leo Garry of Britonisea in a jarring contest. Last year, Katsi had to qualify and Garry was on top of the world as our No.1 player. Now? Katsi is the 32nd seed and Garry doesn't have a seed at all.

The other player will also be looking to make names for themselves this time around. Samurai Shinji will take on Komang Agus Artawan of Pemecutan with the goal with a good showing in mind, as will El Matador against Derek Dubrovnik of Britonisea. The big match involving the non-seeded TJUN-ians, however, is a derby between the NAU and the JagBase itself. The Cowboy vs The Crawler, a battle between two players who have certainly not been at their best in the Singles competition so far. A win here may be celebrated back in their region, but it may also prove telling in deciding which of the two may have better luck during the switch to clay.

As for the doubles, the organiser certainly couldn't have drawn up a better Round 1 if they tried. Scarlet and The Cowboy may have dropped to the 3 seeds rather than the 2, but that won't stop them from looking for a good showing against locals Anthony Kawasaki and Jack Ho. Samurai Shinji and El Matador also have a chance of greatness here, taking on the winner of Qualifier 2 in the first round. But the big contest is in Section 3, as we have what is effectively a battle for 3rd in TJUN-ia between the Li Bo Twins and the pairing of VuRa and Kaui Kama. With both teams closer than ever in the rankings as it stands, who knows who will rise to the occasion in this great contest.

GREAT START IN ELECTRUM SLAM

Eraman tennis players had a successful day on the opening day of the Electrum Slam. Eight tennis players from Eraman compete in Centralis. Four of them played on the first day in the qualifying round and excelled.

It's only the second appearance for Jimi Rusman, Lenta Rasmi, Zeta Juanis, and Zahra Tusita in international tennis tournaments after featuring in the Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis. The four youngsters did better in their second outings by winning their qualifying round matches easily, all on a straight-set against Imal Hundrahdan from Hafamarimyht, Peter Feachell from Indusse, Esterina Picarelli from Recuecn, and Linumeda Kondu from Hafamarimyht respectively.

It's a huge sigh of relief for tennis enthusiasts in Eraman. The four youngsters are seen as the future of tennis in Eraman but their first outing wasn't convincing. All four of them lost in the qualifying round in the Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis. The Electrum Slam is a chance for them to redeem themselves and they have done well early on.

They will have to win their third qualifying round before they can join their compatriots, Batera Siwara, Hemat Darwisa, Mekat Laut, and Sekar Laut in the first round. All Eramanian singles lost in the first round in the Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis. A repeat of that is a disaster for Eraman's tennis.

Electrum Slam: Arkinn and Primarch fight through first qualifying round

Cenian entries have generally not found themselves in the qualifying rounds of major tournaments recently.

Thanks to the protected ranking policy instituted by the NationStates Tennis Tour, the Cenian players who have competed in previous editions of the NSTT have been able to take advantage of relatively high seedings.

Nonetheless, new players on the tour still must fight through qualifying rounds at big tournaments like the Electrum Slam. Only one team from Ceni found itself competing in these rounds: the new and relatively inexperienced team of Jana Arkinn and Myria Primarch, who came up through Ceni's national development program to make their way to international competition.

In qualifier 7, Arkinn and Primarch had to push through a team from Indusse, Gregory Huemenn and George Mellintus. Indusse had previously shown its doubles prowess when Jordina Silva and Fonzie Sartin made it to the quarterfinals of the Steinegestrasse Open, upsetting the world number 1 team along the way.

But Arkinn and Primarch faced no such fate, dispatching Huemann and Mellintus in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5.

Arkinn and Primarch have the instincts to come up to the net that characterize most Cenian teams, even as other all-female teams tend to focus more on groundstrokes, returns, and poaching. "We still do focus on the return," says Primarch, "but our strategy is to use the return to set up a solid volley at the net, not to use the return as a one-stroke weapon."

Arkinn has also focused on using the lob as a weapon. That played out against Huemann and Mellintus to solid effect as Arkinn's lob sealed the victory over the unsuspecting team from Indusse. "I've somehow found a way of perfecting my lob to the point where I almost rely on it too much," says Arkinn.

The team will next face Milicent Broon and Alexander Dumor of Kohnhead, the fourteenth seeds of the qualifying tournament. "It's qualifying at a tournament renowned for upsets," says Primarch. "I'm not going in and expecting to win, but we'll give it our all."

No Reçuecian doubles pairs had been drawn in the qualifying round, but three players had been put into singles qualifying: Esterina Picarelli, Thibaut Berthelot, and Tristan Delisle. The latter was the only one to make it through the first part of qualifiers, beating out Yuvenkian Giovanni Castretto 6-1, 7-5 in a fascinating match with sets that alternated from blowout to dead heat. Delisle entirely dominated his opening set, dropping only a single game that was in fact the only game of the set that was at all close. But in the second game of the second set, Delisle appeared to stumble while attempting a return. He fell, striking the ground with some force, and although he jumped back up to resume the game without delay on the next point, he seemed a little slower on his feet from that point on. After the match his doctor indicated that he was fine and would be able to play on, and had merely felt a little sore during the rest of the second set, a close affair which he almost lost. But Delisle's fans are still concerned for him, hoping that he did not strike his knee when he fell and that any pain will have ended by the time he is due for his second match. Delisle put a brave face on it, saying he felt "confident and strong and ready to continue in the tournament". After all, he is young, but his next match is coming up soon.

Most of the Reçuecian fans are looking forward to the first round of the open, in which their nation's biggest names will join the fray: the Fournier siblings, one of the most highly ranked doubles pairs in the multiverse, as well as Gaëlle Sellier, Reçueçn's current top player, and also Abelie Fontana, the young prodigy who has captured people's hearts in past performances as she improves her game and works her way toward the top. Since no Reçuecian players were present at the Cenian open earlier this year, this is their first slam tournament, and an important chance for them to demonstrate their abilities on the biggest stage, not to mention grab some rank points that will help them in the battle for the NSTT finals. It is also the last tournament before the clay swing, the part of the season where Reçuecian players have traditionally been stronger. This year Reçueçn will also host its first slam at home, giving a key advantage to its players who have never before had the opportunity to compete at the highest level in front of an entire stadium full of their own fans. Thus although this tournament is important in and of itself, it is also almost a first practice run for this year's Beçonailles tournament.

At this stage in the tournament, every Reçuecian player has now arrived in Electrum and if they are not on the court themselves practicing or competing, they are in the stands watching their compatriots. TV cameras caught the Fournier siblings watching Picarelli's game, while Fontana attended Berthelot's game, as had he advanced, it was possible she would play him in her second match.

LUCIJA: everything is organized at the highest level. Top hotels, great food, traffic connection with Electrum Tennis Park is great. In fact, everything is at higher levels than in DR Srednjaci.

REPORTER: again you will have a double program, single and doubles in one day. Can it affect your performance?

LUCIJA: I am physically ready for bigger challenges. As for fitness, I won’t have a problem.

REPORTER: Who do you think should pass through qualifications ?

LUCIJA: I was very sorry for young Dora Klemenčić. She played a great match and lost 10: 8 in the last set. But young Alina is playing great and Ivanovic, in my opinion, should pass the qualifications. He is a very good player.

REPORTER: Do you think the Srednjaci can organize a tournament?

LUCIJA: Well, if everything goes well and is organized, I see no reason why the tournament should not be organized. For start, some lower rank tier tournament . That would help our players to progress faster.

Tennis: Kis, Takacs announce departures from Steinigestrasse Tennis Club

ELECTRUM - A week after Ralph Henschel announced that he will leave the nationally-renowned Steinigestrasse Tennis Club on the onset of the Gergarian Tennis Series (GTS), fans nationwide, especially those in Steinigestrasse would be shocked to the news that the best Gergarian singles player in the NSTT tour would be departing the oldest tennis club in the nation.

Earlier this morning, Donat Kis, world number 32 in the NSTT series, has announced in a small press conference in Electrum that he has signed a three-year deal to join his hometown tennis club in Pas, with doubles specialist Tamara Takacs joining him to the newly-established tennis club, which will specialize in indoor hard court and clay. Both players, as well as Henschel, have been members of the Steinigestrasse Tennis Club when they started participating in the NSTT tennis tournaments, but the rising popularity of the sport have caused the government to allow other tennis academies and clubs to be established, paving the way for seven other clubs to form either by using existing infrastructure, or build a new one.

This has also caused the formation of the GTS, which will have their first tournament in Pas in time for the NSTT clay season, where national tournament results will have an impact to which participants the Gergarian organizers will enter in the next tournaments. Toni Weimann, president of the Steinigestrasse Tennis Club have predicted this would happen, but is confident on the remaining player pool he has in the club in the upcoming national tournaments. "This is bound to be expected due to the money the other tennis clubs would offer. But we have the facilities to produce Gergary's next tennis stars, and we already have them in the pipeline for the first GTS-sanctioned tournament in Pas."

Donat Kis is seeded 22nd in the main singles' tournament and is waiting for the qualifiers to complete, while Takacs and her partner, Albert Taussig, will face Margie Brown and Grayson Norris of Grearia after they dealt with Badan Knacpih and Imal Hundrahdan of Hafamarimet in their first match in the Qualifying 3 bracket of the Electrum Open. Vannesza Pataki who is a doubles expert, was the first Gergarian to lose a match after losing out to San Ortelian Domenico Lunghi in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 3-6.

IT'S TIME FOR TENNIS

IVAN JURLINA : The last qualifying matches for ELECTRUM SLAM were also played!
In the single competition, rising star Lucija Bagarić routinely passed in the main draw, Ljubomir Ivanković with a little difficulty also passed to the main tournament. However, Mlada Koreleva failed to make that step in the main tournament. Couples are also quite successful.

Lucija Bagarić played very strongly and powerfully against Eva Brandt in the last round of qualifications. Our young rising star served 12 aces with the fastest serve of 205 kmh.
She played great her game in the first set, the game by which she is recognizable and that is service-volley. She was 82% successful in game on the net which is a great percentage. Every time Eva Brandt served, Eva Brandt faced a break ball on serve. She managed to save two serves but lost two.
In the second set, Lucija slowed down a bit, played more from the baseline and tried other shots. She took the lead with 4:0 right at the beginning.
However, that relaxation was not desirable at all because Eva Brandt managed to return to the set and come to 5:4 and serve for 5:5. Again Lucija throws in more speed, with two winner returns pulling uncertainty into Eva Brandt's hand and Eva starts to make errors. Three break balls for Lucija and she immediately uses the first one. The young tennis player's hands are in the air, she greeted the opponent warmly, thanked the referee and the audience. Let's listen to what she said.

"Yesterday was a difficult match for me. I had two opponents and the biggest one was myself. I know that my opponent today is dangerous and that she can do a lot as she showed in the second set when she came back from 0: 4. Ljubomir Ivanković reached the main draw with a result reversal against Grace Covalt. Covalt played great and caused a lot of problems for our tennis player who did not manage to impose his game and authority.
Already on the first serve, Grace Covalt had a break opportunity, but Ivanković managed to save himself.
But later Grace Covalt managed to make a break and win the first set.
In the second set, Ivanković slowly raised his game, both players kept their serves until the result 6: 5 for Ivanković. Grace Covalt served to equalize the score at 6: 6 but she did it disastrously and Ivanković won the set. The third set, an early break by Ivanković, whom he defended until the end of the match. This is another great result for Ivanković considering the game shown.

"I'm not too happy with the my game. Grace is a great opponent and I couldn't find a balance between strength and technique. I'm glad I won and I'm in the first round of the main tournament. Points are very important. Thank you."

Young promising junior Alina Koreleva failed to qualify for the main draw. Despite a great game, Alain Moreau was better than her with 2: 6,7: 5,5: 7. Young Alina was quite slow in the first set and Moreau quickly went to a 4: 1 lead. When Alina lost, it was already late for the first set. In the second set, Alina is no longer impressed by the opponent and starts to play more aggressively, hit and move much better. She got that set and announced that a surprise was possible at the door. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Alain Moreau played better on key balls and took the win in the end. Young Alina should not despair because she provided two great matches in the qualifications.

"This is a good week for me though. The experience I have gathered will help me further in my career. I believe in myself more than before the start of qualifying. This is just the beginning of some great story, I hope." Alina said.

3rd qualifying round of Electrum Slam has given a reason to cheer for Waisnorians - single and double made it through:

After a victory in previous qualification match Mikhail Korotkevich was paired against Rosemarie Strobl from Gergary, country who hoster previous NSTT tournament. Before the match Mikhail was in high spirits, he was determined to win, and in the first set it was noticeable - Korotkevich used the chances that he had more often and successfully and generally showed a more interesting game than Rosemarie. This resulted in a 6-3 victory in the first set. However, this defeat somewhat enlightened Strobl and already in the second set she became a much more serious test for Mikhail. Both opponents in this set were equal, and both players could snatch victory. Korotkevich turned out to be more successful in this battle, who nevertheless won the second set with a score of 7-6 and went further along the tournament bracket.

First Waisnorian pair to enter Electrum Slam, Jan Turovets and Vitaly Rakov, went bye on the first round. In the second round they battled against Kaura Sparks and Rhonda Robbins from Nova Anglicana. The first set for Jan and Vitaly turned out to be quite a turd one - Laura and Rhonda tried not to give chances to their rivals and looked like worthy opponents. However, Turovets and Rakov at some point were able to take the initiative in the match and take the victory in the first set with a score of 7-5. Apparently, such a turn did not affect Sparks and Robbins for the better, and in the second set they looked weaker than in the first. Jan and Vitaly were happy to take advantage of this state of affairs, thanks to which they won the second set with a score of 6-3, and they went to the next round.
