So...yea or nay?

My guess would be that, in the seven or so months that elapse between the two episodes in-universe, and perhaps after realising that guest quarters might be a good thing to have, some non-essential spaces aboard are refitted as such.

maybe the repair station did a little reorganizing.

I imagine Trip would have cried foul if it had done so without anyone asking.

From what we are able to see, NX-01 is quite a cramped, minimalist, and utilitarian affair: there is only so much space that they can repurpose before it begins to impact functionality. They somehow also manage to add in a Brig etc later as well. I'm guessing that by the end of its life the lower-ranking crew members of NX-01 were crammed into quarters like sardines, using a hot-bunking system to boot...

This is why the NX needed the proper secondary hull it was originally going to get had the show kept going.

I want so badly to get the NX Refit, but it's like three times the price of other ship models. I still have the Yeager Class and Constellation Class on my list, too.

NX Refit is one of the nicest designs in Trek IMO. ENT era in general I find has nice United Earth/Early UFP designs.

So yeah, they're definitely branching out into kid-specific shows as well now.

Although the Roddenberry and Berman Eras were already kind of a family-friendly thing for the most part (before eyeball ripping and such).

Although family friendly is subjective when Berman is too involved.

One thing that has always bothered me about Star Trek is how Human most of the aliens are (although that nitpick goes far beyond this franchise), so it is interesting to have more non-humanoid characters in the A-Team, don't think that has happened yet in Star Trek besides Odo, and he was mostly humanoid anyway (unless I missed any from TAS or NuTrek).

The bigger threat at the table is actually Data. He can calculate probabilities better than anyone, and can notice visual clues that show someone is tense or lying that others would miss. If someone had a disciplined enough mind then they could probably fool an empath like Deanna, but I doubt they could stop involuntary visual clues that Data would notice, things like pupil dilation, respiration, heart rate, and blushing.

She also wouldn't get a good read anyway. All she'd be able to tell is if they're being deceptive, and since literally every move is a deception in some way, her powers would be limited benefit at best.

I literally cannot visually connect those characters to any part of the Star Trek franchise. If the title wasn't looming behind them I'd be like "and what mildly-watched generic Netflix kids' fantasy show is this?" I've already crossed this thing off my list but I'm sort of waiting for them to unveil the ship, if they ever do. The only thing that could save this show is if the ship is Yeager-class. Won't happen, but don't take that hope away from me yet!

Also, they had a golden opportunity to set this show at Starfleet Academy, or even at a school on a starbase somewhere (bring back yorktown pls), maybe settle down from starships for a little while and let the other shows do the Trekking. This could have worked as an educational-type show teaching kids about real-world astronomy and physics (like Zula Patrol but higher-level and Trek-oriented), and maybe even some light morals and ethics, along with your occasional wacky adventure with stolen shuttlecraft/alien invasion. That would've been fun, and I dunno, maybe they'll do something like that with this whole hijacked-derelict-ship premise, but you'll forgive me if I doubt it.

I can only hope Mulgrew carries the show, and that this doesn't end up like a second STP.

ARCHER: And now we have guest quarters.

Theory: Ensign Rivers got ahold of some temporal technology that fell out of Daniels' pocket from season 1, and jumped between universes and through time, becoming Ed Mercer and assuming command of the Orville. Furthermore, during his jump, he ran into a spatial scission, and was duplicated. The duplicate was thrown backwards through time and landed at Fox Television, becoming Seth MacFarlane. MacFarlane, distraught by his experiences in the Xindi War and the Romulan War, then manipulated the events of Enterprise behind the scenes and erased all mention or sight of Rivers, (which explains the time discrepancy, with the guest quarters issue showing up between seasons 1 and 2 but him not "showing up" until season 3, as well as him not being seen from since) but he forgot about "The Forgotten" (ironic), in which we see him in. Essentially, he erased his existence from all but two episodes. He may have even been a main character. Archer is not aware of River's disappearance until season 2, by which point he gives the empty quarters to the cargo crew in "Precious Cargo", but makes no mention of the incident to the crew or Starfleet. Archer does not see Rivers in "The Forgotten" (again made sure of by MacFarlane), and Trip is too sleep-deprived to care. MacFarlane orchestrated Rivers' transfer to the Columbia in "Affliction" to get rid of him in-canon, as the fans had already made note of him. Now that I have uncovered this theory, MacFarlane destroys my house.
