I wonder how confused my Ghanaian, Nigerian, Malian ancestors felt when they were told they had to go to France to fight for the British/French because Germany was trying to go through Belgium because the French were allies with the Russians who were going to attack the Austrians because a Serbian shot someone in Bosnia.

Serbia and Austria-Hungary. Serbia sent the guy who shot Franz, and Austria-Hungary started a hissy-fit and caused the domino chain to begin.

Principe. He could have gone and done what normal people did like watch a soccer game or go to the beach, but he had to shoot the Archduke like his name was Joseph Anthony Colombo.

All because the Balkans were just emerging from the 2nd Balkan War so Greater Serbian nationalism led to Serbians wanting to take Bosnia from the Austrians who took it from the Ottomans who annexed it from a medieval state of Bosnia that got independence from Hungary who got it from the Byzantines because Slavs migrated into the lands of the Byzantines who ruled over the to-become Ottoman Empire because they were the Eastern Roman Empire that split from the Western Roman Empire in 395 CE. The Romans took it during their conquests of Illyria before which the area was ruled by Illyrian tribes and kept contact with the Greeks, who had historical relations with states in the Middle East including Persia (whom they despised) and before Persia, the Lydian, Median, and Babylonian Empires. This proves that Babylon is at the centre of all problems to do with Bosnia and thus we should blame Nebuchadnezzar for WW1, WW2, and the Yugoslav Wars.

To be honest, I imagine they were about as confused as my Italian ancestors who suddenly were told to go and fight Austria despite 5 minutes ago having had a treaty with Austria. Only to then be a part of Cadorna's 12 battles of the Isonzo River.

Germany already had a huge empire. They didn’t need to support Austria Hungary, and they also didn’t need a huge navy.

A Yugoslav pan-nationalist killed someone who actually wasn't liked back in Vienna anyways. Another killing in a region at the time strife with political violence. The joke I said at the beginning was a joke but it rings true. Blaming Principe for the over reaction of everyone involved and the political climate that lead him to kill an Archduke is missing the forest for the trees.

Many were increasingly of the opinion that they’d all made a big mistake in coming down from the trees in the first place. And some said that even the trees had been a bad move, and that no one should ever have left the oceans.

You blame it all on Babylon, but Babylon only came to exist because of Amorite tribes settling in Mesopotamia, and drawing upon Sumerian civilisation to craft their own city states.
