Probably not a tobacco farm, though, I hope...

Agriculture is one of the biggest mistakes in the history of mankind, it is an abhorrent practice that has cursed us to hellish lives, it is of utmost importance that agriculture is banned and society goes back to hunter-gatherer tribes where we will finally live in peace and with unlimited freedom

No, probably not. They tried growing soybeans as well, but the non-GMO variant they used didn't fare well in Northern Missouri. So, tobacco was their main crop.

Anyhow, tobacco has been replaced by a slightly healthier, slightly greener, and much more intoxicating crop in many markets and for many individuals. If federal legislation changes, I'd give that a go when I'm older.

My thoughts on farms? Most of them are owned by corporations that can go fall in a hole. The rest are owned by millionaires, granted some of them have their entire wealth tied up in the land/equipment. They receive a ton of subsidies from the government and often are portrayed as poor and under threat from the big bad (mostly poor) people in the cities.

People in the cities would love to eat healthy food. Sadly it can get incredibly expensive. I can eat a meal for about $1. Or I can buy fresh food from the farmers market and spend $10+ on something. Or I could grow vegetables, fish the nearby river, and die of various cancers caused by pollutants in a decade.

Most farmers have all fo their assets tied up in land and equipment. Most don’t live like millionaires.

And subsidies is what makes food cheap.

Exactly this. Farmers have the potential to make some good god damn money, but it's also rather lucrative in that a few bad seasons or a few bad years can land you in financial ruin.

But yes, farming is important. Every young person should have some farming experience, which is why they should be sent to the fields to practice weeding, plowing, hoeing, harvesting, and planting.

Happens to the best.
Indeed, it's essential. I might be a bit advantaged, since my grandmother grew up on a farm and still grows food in her garden, so I'm not exactly the guy who looks at seeds and wonders what to do with it. I still have less experience than I should ... still, I notice some trend towards urban farming, which I consider a good thing.

(So, yes, NCR, I was indeed joking, no worries.)

not as interesting as complete wilderness, but everybody's gotta eat. more interesting places then being stuck in a city.
lots of lovely odd old mechanical fiddly bits to play with in old barns.

large scale mono culture tends to be abusive of everything, but isn't the only or best way of doing things.

many many thoughts i have, but mostly land has become too expensive for poor people, and that represents a major loss of opportunity.

i'm too old now, but wish i could have owned, or for people to not have to own, a little piece of land all my life when i was younger.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

"economic freedom" is "the cake"

I already said that, although we disagree on whether it is most or just some. All the farmers I have met were living very very comfortably. None had a supercar but they all had toys. Brand new pickups, horses, 4 wheelers, high end rifles, and tools the rest of us could only dream of having in a garage. Granted they work a lot but these days its common for everyone.

Sometimes your opinions can be confusing Sun.

Thinking about it, one could also interpret Sun's statement as "I don't like doing farm work", which doesn't necessarily suggest an opposition against the concept of agriculture itself. But they should probably explain that themselves.
