TSUNAMI ALERT AFTER EARTHQUAKE STRIKES OFF TEMEBOK ISLAND

LEONRAU - A 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck in the Emmirian Sea has caused a tsunami, the Qolaysian weather agency said.

“Tsunami confirmed,” the Qolaysian Bureau of Meteorology said in a social media post, as it warned of a threat to Temebok Island, which has most of its population on the north side of the island facing the direction of a tsunami directive.

The earthquake struck in the Emmirian Sea, sparking a tsunami warning for Qolaysia, Saint Croix and Bens, Alecburgh and other nations in the region.

The earthquake struck just after midnight on Thursday local time (13:20 GMT on Wednesday) about 415km (258 miles) north of Qolaysia

It was the strongest of a total of five earthquakes that occurred within an hour.

The Tsunami Warning Center said waves of 0.3 to 1 metre above the tide level are possible for some coasts of Qolaysia, Saint Croix and Bens, and Alecburgh.

The Qolaysia National Emergency Management Agency released a statement telling people in coastal areas to move away from waterfronts.

“We expect Qolaysian coastal areas to experience strong and unusual currents and unpredictable surges at the shore,” the disaster management agency said. “People in or near the sea in the following areas should move out of the water, off beaches and shore areas and away from harbours, rivers and estuaries.”

A wave of 0.3 metres struck Temebok, according to the social media feed of the island nation’s seismology department. It provided no further details.

JYAU FREEZES INTERNATIONAL ADOPTIONS AFTER ABUSES UNCOVERED
Some children adopted between 1967 and 1998 were found to have been stolen or bought under duress from birth parents.

Gutaai - The Republic of Jyau is freezing international adoptions after a government commission found some children had been stolen or bought from their birth parents in cases going back to the 1960s.

The commission was set up under pressure from increasing numbers of grown-up adopted children who began to research their roots and often found that their birth documents had been forged or lost, or that their adoption had been illegal.

It looked at adoptions from Barangadesh, De Yuan, Beleroskov, Qolaysia and Togaria from 1967 to 1998.

Jyaueze parents adopted about 40,000 children from 80 countries in the previous half century. The practice has declined in recent years, with just 145 children adopted in 2019.

In some of the most difficult cases, children adopted via intermediaries were found to have been stolen or bought under duress from their birth parents.

Image

Human Rights Minister Emannuel Riversa said on Monday that despite recent reforms “too much remains out of our sight” in some foreign countries.

“I understand that this will be painful for some people, but let us not forget the reason for this decision: by suspending adoptions we are protecting children and their biological parents,” he said.

In a letter announcing the halt, Riversa apologised to the adopted children, adoptive parents and birth parents who were harmed in varying degrees by the practice.

“The positive sentiment around adoption in the previous century – with the leading idea that we were doing good by adoption – may be an explanation, but it is not a justification,” Riversa said.

He said it would be up to the next government to decide whether any foreign adoption system could be designed that would not be vulnerable to such abuses.

Several key members of Chancellor Matthias Cerfbeer’s government resigned last month over a tax scandal and is acting in a caretaker capacity until an election due in April.

VONGANE JOURNAL
Trade talks: Mulfulira urged to be 'more ambitious' on climate

Quetana will urge Mulfulira to increase its 2030 emission reduction pledge in the lead-up to this year’s Malcanes, Quetana climate conference, with the Quetanan ambassador in Chingola saying all countries should embrace “more ambitious and emboldened” policies.

In an interview with the Vongane Journal, Dr. Larrian Gierson said countries should take stock of whether they were “in a better position than, say, five years ago to have a more ambitious climate objective”.

The ambassador also said the Eastern Adula Bloc wished to see all of its partners head in the direction of net zero emissions by 2050, and noted that Eastern Adula and Zamastan were considering carbon-related charges on imports in an attempt to ensure a “level playing field” on global climate action.

Image

Asked if Quetana was looking for Mulfulira to upgrade its climate policies to help smooth the way for a trade deal, President Brafeo said: “I would say what we have in mind is relatively straightforward. We are shouldering more and we would hope that our partner countries would do the same – that they become a bit more ambitious and emboldened when it comes to climate change objectives.”

Brafeo added that his comments applied “across the board” rather than being targeted at any single country.

He said there was growing global momentum to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, spurred on by the Moreau administration in Zamastan, and “we would all wish to see that all our partner countries would go in that direction”.

But Brafeo signaled that it was also important for countries to lift their medium-term targets, saying partners should take stock of progress in technology and increased use of renewables and ask whether they were “now in a better position than, say, five years ago to have a more ambitious climate objective”.

Quetana adopted in December an upgraded target to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, when compared with 1990 levels.

“And we are encouraging generally all our partners to … go through this [process] and see whether they can’t be a bit more ambitious themselves in terms of where they set their own objectives,” Brafeo said in reference to 2030 targets.

VUSWISTAN BROADCAST SERVICE

Syraranto expels Vuswistan military doctors attempting to reach besieged towns

BULLEMARA, SYRARANTO – Syrarantoan regime forces loyal to President Kyraikos Tasoulas have expelled Vuswistan doctors who had been operating in the country, giving medical aid to civilians caught in the crossfire between regime and rebel fighters in the country's brutal civil war.

Vuswistan doctors, who were granted access as "free medical personnel" by both the Government of Syraranto and the Balgita Nationalist and Free Syraranto rebel forces, were detained in the eastern port city of Bullemara and ordered to leave the country or face lengthy imprisonment by the government.

Bullemara is one of the least impacted areas of the civil war, as much of the fighting in the country is in the west and north along the borders of Constantio and North Icadania. Over 300,000 people have died in the fighting, which erupted in June of 2020, and has quickly become the deadliest conflict in the world since the World War (1949-54).

Vuswistan has acted as a moderating force throughout the course of the conflict, holding peace talks in Tyrnatini in October and again in January, but to no avail.

Rebel forces, who scored key victories against the Tasoulas regime in the fall of 2020, have been battered back with intensive fighting. However, last week, rebels claimed large parts of a strategic military airbase in the province of Urikiban where they are trying to expand areas under their control, an opposition group said.

Image

The Vuswistan-based Syrarantoan Observatory for Human Rights said on Thursday rebels seized large parts of Dabaaki military airport in the town of Nasta near the border with Constantio, which is used as a gathering point for government troops. The town is crucial for both sides given its proximity to the Covijo-Urikiban highway. Video posted online allegedly showed rebels celebrating inside the facility, where rebels and government forces have been fighting for the past few weeks.

However, government forces have still seen rampant success. Government troops are tightening their grip on a rebel stronghold near the border with Constantio a day after taking control of a key village in the area, a field commander told reporters on Tuesday. Forces loyal to President Tasoulas have seized a string of towns and villages in the rugged Tirikan region along the Constantio border since launching an offensive there in November.

Backed by tanks, the army seized the village of Hirkinan this week and is closing in on Tirikan, the largest town in the mountainous region still in rebel hands, which was the subject of intense bombing that killed thousands of civilians in June of 2020.

Le Baian on trial for posting atrocity images

Elbresian far-right leader Miranda Le Baian has gone on trial near Allengin, accused of breaking hate speech laws when she posted pictures of murders carried out by jihadist group Al-Fijar.

As she arrived in court she condemned the trial as politically motivated.

The National Rally leader is riding high in the polls and is expected to be Gilles Martin's main challenger in the 2022 presidential election.

Mr Gilles Martin closely won the 2018 race but next election's is expected to be far closer.

The al-Fijar posts case has dragged on for years and was delayed because of political tribulation.

Ms Le Baian tweeted three gruesome pictures of Al-Fijar killings in 2015, including one showing the body of Marcus Jesterson, a talented Elbresian journalist abducted in Jaginistan while reporting on the insurgency for Allengin Times and later murdered. The other two images were no less shocking.

There was an outcry in Elbresia when she posted the images during a row with journalist Martin Bourdin. He had drawn a comparison between Al-Fijar and the party Ms Le Baian led at the time, the National Front. The social media spat came in the wake of the jihadist murders in Blankenlair in 2014 when 29 people died.

"This is what Al-Fijar is," she wrote under the photos, flatly rejecting the comparison.

Timerian Special Force Conduct Raid in Southern Azil

Two members of SHADOW have been captured by Timerian special forces in a raid in Southern Azil. The raid was launched after intelligence gathered from task force Shinigami located two SHADOW agents working with an Azilian air defense Colonel.

President Raso addressed the nation and praised those involved in the raid early this morning. She called the raid “a testament to combating terrorism”. The nations top national security officials also made statements on the situation and what it meant for the future of counter-terrorism operations.

Six Helicopters took off from a remote base in the Crystalholt region before flying over the border. The two SHADOW agents were located in a mildly populated area that forces operators to land within city limits and work their way through a residential area. In the air Timerian jets waited across the border to intercept any Azilian response while electronic support aircraft jammed radars.

The special forces team took two into custody and one is currently in serious condition being treated at a military hospital. There were no Timerians injured in the operation.

Also announced today the opening of Joint Defense Facility Storm Haven in remote Preli. The base will be operated by the Timerian Intelligence Agency and the Timerian Space Force. There wasn’t much information provided on the base and it’s currently considered closed to the public. Some images of the base have surfaced online with a few structures, one runway, and a number of radomes around the base.

OSSOTIA NATIONAL NEWS SERVICE

Beleroskovian and Ossotian troops clashed in disputed Rejebak, leaving at least 15 people dead, including 10 civilians, and wounding more than 30 on both sides, officials said Thursday. The fighting came amid increasing tensions between the two heavily-militarized South Ausianan neighbors. In a statement, the Beleroskovian military and government officials blamed Ossotia for initiating the fighting by firing rockets and mortar shells overnight and on Thursday that killed four Beleroskovian civilians and one soldier, and wounded 27, including women and children.

Ossotia officials said six civilians, three soldiers and a border guard were killed on their side, according to the ACP. The fatalities were some of the highest reported in recent years. Majan Mirokov, the leader of the Ossotia-administered Rejebak, urged the Coalition of Crown Albatross and international community to take notice, saying he feared a wider conflict.

“If such Beleroskovian hostilities are not stopped, then it will also be difficult to stop a war between Beleroskov and Ossotia,” he said.

Earlier, Beleroskov's military described it as the latest unprovoked cease-fire violation by Ossotia and said Beleroskov troops responded by targeting Ossotian posts. Majan Mirokov said several homes were damaged.

“People are running for safety in panic and Beleroskov is deliberately targeting the civilian population," he told The Associated Coalition Press. Villagers were hiding in community bunkers as the exchange of fire had intensified, he said.

LIVE: Hisrea Region Alleges Bombings In "Unexpected War"
Zalluabedi army claims intensive insurgent movement prompted action

Zalluabed's Hisrea region asserts that fighter jets have bombed locations around its capital, Sekele, aiming to force the region “into submission”, while Zalluabed's army says it has been forced into an “unexpected and aimless war”. The Hisrea allegation was read out Thursday evening on the regional broadcaster. Zalluabed's government has not commented on it.

Earlier, Zalluabed mobilised for war in the northern Hisrea region, dashing international hopes of averting a conflict between President Zayyaan al-Akhtar's government and the powerful ethnic faction that led the ruling coalition for decades. On Thursday, the deputy army chief said the “country has entered into unexpected war” after Zalluabed's lower house of parliament approved unanimously a six-month state of emergency in the region which is ruled by the opposition Hisrea People’s Liberation Front (HPLF).

“Our country has entered into a war that it did not want. This war is a shameful war. It does not have a point. The people of Hisrea and its youth and its security forces should not die for this pointless war. Zalluabed is their country,” the deputy chief of the army, Jirhanu Bjyala, said on state television, adding that troops were being mustered from around the country and dispatched to Hisrea.

“The war will not come to the centre, it will end there [in Hisrea].”

Communications remained cut off in Hisrea after services disappeared at just around the time Bjyala's office first announced the attack and military action on Wednesday. The communication blackout has challenged efforts to verify the Zalluabed federal government’s account of events. A humanitarian source said shelling and shooting had been heard in the region since the early hours of Thursday, and nearly two dozen soldiers had been treated at a clinic near the border with the Khamama region. Another source told The Associated Coalition Press news agency that the Hisrea capital, Sekele, appeared calm on Thursday morning but skirmishes took place elsewhere.

KARABAKHI NEWS
'A third of Karabhaki underwater' after heavy rain, floods

A third of Karabakhi is underwater after some of the heaviest rains in a decade, officials said. Almost four million people have also been hit by monsoon floods in Southwest Nortua and Northwest Adula, specifically along the Cadair-Birnir Basin. The monsoon – which usually falls from June to November – is crucial to the economy of the island chain nation, but also causes widespread death and destruction across the region every year.

“This is going to be the worst flood in a decade,” Karabakhi's Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre chief Arifuzzaman Bhuiyan told the ACP news agency. The floods started late last month, and after briefly easing continued to worsen, destroying crops and driving people from their homes in several impoverished regions. Bhuiyan said about a third of flood-prone Karabakhi – an island-nation crisscrossed by hundreds of rivers – was underwater, and at least 1.5 million people were affected, with village homes and roads flooded.

“The floodwater is constantly rising. Neither we nor our cattle can go out. So, I’m using a boat to go out. We’re having issues regarding food also. The cooking ovens have been flooded. Even our beds are also underwater,” Samsud Doha, farmer, said. In north-central Karabakhi, the Rahmatutra river was almost 40cm (15.7 inches) higher than normal and threatening to burst its banks, district administrator Farook Ahmed told ACP.

Most villagers were trying to stay near their flood-damaged homes, but some 15,000 had fled severely affected areas, officials said. Another farmer, Rabiul Islam, said: “Our homesteads have been flooded. We had a little road left which got destroyed last night. So, we’re taking away all our crops like rice and corn and other goods.”

SECRETARY OF STATE VALLOTIS: "WE ARE LOOKING AT ALL OPTIONS"

When pressed about the Zamastanian government's response to the more than a dozen arrests of West Chanchajillan diplomats in seven individual countries over the Armbar regime's support of Kyraikos Tasoulas in Syraranto, Secretary of State Jessiah Vallotis stated that "the West Chanchajillan dictatorship does not have any morality when it comes to the plight of the everyday person. We are looking at all options."

Vallotis' comments come following the extridition of Federico Casoula, a personal lawyer for Frederick Armbar, from Jyau last Thursday. Casoula was wanted in Zamastan on money laundering charges while he was vacationing in Jade Harbor on a foreign passport, which was also illegal under falsification of documents laws. In Jyau, however, he was fined Z$300,000 for illegal entry and smuggling charges, as well as conspiracy to bribe authorities. He was held in the Jyaueze capital of Gutaai after authorities discovered a large cache of cocaine, illegal in Jyau even for diplomats.

Image

President Atticus Moreau has largely remained silent on the issue of West Chanchajillan prospects, at one point dodging a question directly from Tofino Times political corespondent Jacinda Hammer. Hammer asked Moreau, before he boarded a flight to Viitaniemi, Caspiaa, if he would be introducing additional sanctions on the Armbar regime for the actions of its diplomats and the public executions of dissidents. Moreau flashed a smile and responded "what is West Chanchajilla?", in a move which many are calling tone-deaf.

Since the attempted coup d'etat of the Armbar regime one year ago, Frederick Armbar and his forces have been responsible for an estimated 5,000 executions, ranging from citizens who were accused of being participants, to top military officials and poitical figures in the regime itself. West Chanchajilla's economy has tanked since Armbar took power in 2005, but he has continuously led to worse conditions the longer he has stayed in power. Extreme policies, which most attribute akin to state sponsored communism, and the total state-ownership of all businesses, including the most potentially lucrative oil industry, has led to a decline in revenue as the international community creates more sanctions against the government.

As for Armbar, multiple governments, most significantly WEDA, CAMDA, Drambenburg, and Cadair do not recognize him as the legitimate leader of West Chanchajilla, and Armbar's administration has been deemed "responsible for grossly mismanaging the economy and plunging the country into a deep humanitarian crisis". Additionally, the regime has been accused of attempting to "crush the opposition by jailing or exiling critics, and using lethal force against anti-government protesters" by several nations. However, his regime is supported by Yuan, Syraranto, Great Epsilon, and the DSC.

Armbar has been described as a "dictator", and a Zamastanian Intelligence Service report determined that crimes against humanity have been committed during his rule. Under Armbar's administration, more than 29,000 people have been executed for “resistance to authority” and more than 3 million Chanchajillans have been forced to flee the country. He has also directly supported the regime of Kyraikos Tasoulas in Syraranto during the 2020-21 Civil War, and has been linked to aiding the M.L.F. and Al-Fijar terrorist groups.

SAINT RANEAU TIMES
ALBARINE COMES FACE-TO-FACE WITH DARK HISTORY SURROUNDING LOS GLACIARES

Los Glaciares National Park in Albarine receives hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world every year. A World Wonder Site, the park covers an area of 2,800 square miles and includes stunning glaciers, high mountains and beautiful natural scenery. A new study from September 2020 examines the forces that led to its creation. The study traces how the park’s purpose has shifted from being a tool to assert Albarinean sovereignty (and not as much to fulfill conservation goals) to the source of a robust tourism economy. To arrive at these conclusions, the authors examined the regulations and laws governing Los Glaciares, conducted interviews of park workers and top officials in the National Parks Administration, and observed public hearings on land access.

The study begins with the history of the acquisition of the land on which Los Glaciares sits, as it is crucial to understanding the forces that created the park. Los Glaciares is located in Saint Topial in southern Albarine. The expansion of Albarine into this region in the late 19th century followed a brutal military conquest in 1879 called the “Conquest of the Skies.” This violent military conquest led to the murder and removal of the Indigenous Buckinglanese from Saint Topial in what amounts to a genocide. As Mattias Borg Rasmussen, an environmental anthropologist, explained to ACP, Indigenous people were “encamped. They were sent to other parts of the country, so you had this vast open territory… that needed to be resettled.”

Therefore, the Albarine government encouraged the settlement of Adulan and Euronian immigrants and opened the region to a capitalist economy to develop Saint Topial as part of Albarine. As Marcos Mendoza, an anthropologist at the University of Saint Raneau who has also studied the history of Albarine national parks, explained to ACP, the goal was that Euronian farmers would populate the area, cultivate the land and livestock, and sell the commodities on international markets for profit. However, foreign capitalist firms consolidated control over the best lands, so this plan had limited success. Additionally, the landscape was quite “unappealing” and “unromantic” to live in, Mendoza explained.

Investigators Believe Money Flowed to President Kennard's Accounts Amid 1QDB Probe

LEONRAU - Qolaysian investigators scrutinizing a controversial government investment fund have traced nearly Z$700 million of deposits into what they believe are the personal bank accounts of Qolaysia’s President, Abiel Kennard, according to documents from a government probe.

The investigation documents mark the first time Mr. Kennard has been directly connected to the probes into state investment fund 1Qolaysia Development Bhd., or 1QDB.

Mr. Kennard, who founded 1QDB and heads its board of advisors, has been under growing political pressure over the fund, which amassed Z$11 billion in debt it is struggling to repay.

The government probe documents what investigators believe to be the movement of cash among government agencies, banks and companies linked to 1QDB before it ended up in Mr. Kennard's personal accounts. Documents reviewed by The Leonrau Sun include bank transfer forms and flow charts put together by government investigators that reflect their understanding of the path of the cash.

Image

The original source of the money is unclear and the government investigation doesn’t detail what happened to the money that went into Mr. Kennard's personal accounts.

Former Law Minister Zaid Ibrahim bluntly told President Abiel Kennard, in his latest blog posting, to step down but only after he does something to redeem himself so that he will be remembered differently.

“You must step down as President because there’s no way you can get out of this hole,” said Zaid in an obvious reference to allegations against him in The Leonrau Sun last Friday. “The country needs a new direction and a new team of leaders.”

“You can of course ignore what I have said and remain as President for the next 10 years, but they will remember you for 1QDB and your private banking account.”

President Brafeo Meets with Tayyib Hume in Vongane

VONGANE - President António Brafeo met with Mulfuliran President Tayyib Hume in Vongane on Sunday, discussing climate regulations and agreements, security concerns, as well as potential trade agreements. President Hume arrived here this morning for two days of meetings with WEDA officials as they craft a new plan for the newly-announced cut in Zamastanian troop deployments and seek a new mission statement that will keep them relevant in the 21st century.

After a lengthy trip to expand Quetanan trade opportunities last week, Brafeo turned around immediately for a trip to reassure friends in Adula that their shared security and economic concerns are also a top priority. The focus for the weekend is forming the WEDA plan to begin contributing more troops to the organization by 2022 as Zamastan cuts its contribution nearly in half amid President Atticus Moreau's decision.

At the same time, President Hume will meet with the allies to talk about cooperating on a missile defense shield for Mulfulira, in the wake of rocket attacks from insurgents in Saudi Jiddiya. The idea was previously too distasteful for Mulfulira to discuss in such an international forum, but warming relations between Hume and Brafeo helped to pave the way.

The visit to Vongane casts a spotlight on Hume's foreign policy, just as politicians in Mulfulira have made it clear how hard the president will have to fight to implement any of his priorities -- starting with the arms treaty he crafted with Brafeo. Some in his government are now threatening to push off approval of the treaty until next year.

PEACE TALKS BETWEEN QOLAYSIA AND TOGARIA BEGIN IN BUENA VERA

BUENA VERA - Peace talks have begun between Togaria and Qolaysian representatives after nearly 12 long years of low-level conflict in the Togana region in southern Qolaysia, with delegates meeting in Buena Vera, Artegana, to discuss a lasting ceasefire and permanent end to hostilities. A new cycle of talks opened on Sunday, particularly focusing on the issue of the victims of the conflict and their rights. Togarian representative Henres Marque denied that the process is on its final stage, and publicly called an emergency meeting to resume the bilateral assessment of decisions.

He said that the government of Togaria cannot continue to act as if the views of rebel fighters in Togana had no value or consequences and invited Qolaysian Interior Minister Emaneu Cookmano to the exchange since, he said, the peace process cannot continue to be addressed on the media agenda and through biased interpretations.

Image

In a communiqué read by Marque, the Togana rebels reportedly rejected unilateral legislative initiatives by the government, and they said that concepts such as transition, demobilization and the putting down of weapons are not on the agenda.

The issue of the victims is the fourth of a six-point agenda agreed to by the parties, and it includes the end of hostilities and mechanisms to sign and verify a possible final agreement.

The two parties already reached an accord on the points related to rural reform, political participation by the rebel forces and illegal drug trafficking.

The Togana War has been ongoing since 2008, and though it has never become a full-fledged war involving the full backing of either government, Togarian and Qolaysian forces have occasionally clashed. The conflict has occurred in and around the province, city, and island of Togana, with nearly 6,000 being killed since the war began. Rebels, wishing for secession from Qolaysia, often fight with government forces, and are backed by the Togarian government.

VANBERSON WINS REELECTION

President Arthur Vanberson (Labour Party) was reelected to a second term in a close victory, narrowly defeating his opponents Samuel Torrin (Conservative Party) and Cory Lewinhana (Socialist Party) with 54% of the popular vote. Vanberson had struggled over the course of the campaign over scandals surrounding an affair with an aide and a generally unpopular stance on increasing nuclear energy consumption. However, his victory cements another 4 years of liberal government in Versenia, and Torrin congratulated his opponent on a well run race.

Despite Vanberson's victory, the Conservative Party was able to regain a sizable amount of seats in Parliament, only falling one seat shy of claiming a majority from the Labour Party, who barely managed to hang on.

After a week of intensive campaigning by both President Vanberson and his opponents, all candidates awaited the results of the election, which were delayed due to irregularities. Estimates had put President Vanberson ahead of Torrin and Lewinhana. This reportedly did not discouraged Mr. Torrin, who held one of his campaigns largest rallies outside the lake city of Gilport. Torrin congratulated the President on his win, and promised his supporters that he would "continue the fight".

VILANJA SENTINEL
76 DEAD BOMBING IN MEGUÉN
AUTHORITIES SUSPECT ARMBAR BEHIND ATTACK IN SOME CAPACITY

Meguén - A devastating bombing, the worst terror attack ever to strike East Chanchajilla, rocked the lakeside city of Meguén on Sunday afternoon, killing 76 people and injuring hundreds. The explosion occurred at a concert on the city's famed boardwalk, where thousands of people were packed along the beach celebrating Republic Day for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Chanchajilla in 1951. The suspected bomber, who was arrested shortly after by authorities, is a West Chanchajillan national, and authorities believe the attack was intentionally organized by the West Chanchajillan government.

The bombing occurred at 9:22 PM, moments after award-winning singer Irene Atenas had begun her set. The explosion was near the back of the crowd and the entrance to the seating areas of the concert, killing and maiming many people who were crowded in the narrow walkway. The shock of the explosion caused a stampede of people attempting to flee the area, while many witnesses rushed into the chaos to help wounded survivors. As emergency responders arrived at the scene, they described it as a "warzone", with chairs, debris, and blood splayed across the zone.

The bomb is believed to have been hidden in a backpack, which the suspected bomber dropped at the concert before leaving the scene and allowing for a timer to count down the explosion. The suspected bomber, reportedly Tomas Alarcón, is a West Chanchajillan national who arrived in the country last week through Paraboca after seeking status as a refugee under Paraboca's laws regarding West Chanchajilla. However, under these laws, refugees are allowed to travel under a visa, which allowed Alarcón access into East Chanchajilla despite his nationality. He was arrested roughly an hour after the explosion, reportedly preparing a second bomb inside his rented vehicle, which he claimed to authorities was for "President Boer". Authorities have not stated whether a direct threat to President Gideon Boer is imminent, but have stated that the President has substantial security in the wake of the terror attack.

As for a motive for the attack, investigators believe the target was Rodrigo Carballal, a prominent East Chanchajillan lawyer responsible for prosecuting four Armbar diplomats in 2019 for money laundering. He was present at the concert with his family, and his youngest daughter was reportedly injured in the bombing, but Carballal was unharmed and is currently under supervision and security. Carballal had been targeted in a previous attack in 2020, when a gunman opened fire on his car in Vilanja.

Frederick Armbar, known for not shying away from attacks on foreign soil through his agents, is suspected of being behind the attack in some capacity, according to East Chanchajillan authorities. Armbar has routinely used his agents to assassinate those he perceives to be enemies to his foreign interests, including his wide range of criminal enterprise and support of syndicates, terror networks, and dictators across the world. He is known to be directly affiliated with East Chanchajillan drug cartels, which are responsible for hundreds of murders and killings each year in East Chanchajilla.

Image

President Gideon Boer, speaking in Vilanja, stated that he has ordered the Ministry of Justice to investigate the attack fully, and that those responsible will be "hunted down, prosecuted, or destroyed." He also gave condolences to the families of those killed and to those injured, stating that he would visit the Meguén Saints' Hospital and victims this week, and he would personally visit the site of the attack. Additionally, he promised that "Armbar will pay for his endless atrocities. One way or another, he will face wrath and judgement."

Meguén is a popular tourist destination, and with the momentous holiday of Republic Day being celebrated across the country, other attractions across the nation are on high alert and being placed under additional security. Meguén is also, unfortunately, a hub for drug smuggling, with its location on Lake Louise being a prime area for smugglers to connect from West to East and Zamastan as well, which creates an extensive network.

Former Chancellor of Jyau Cristopher Odell Dead at 92
Cristopher Odell, Conservative Party Chancellor from 1980-88

Gutaai - Cristopher Odell, who served as Chancellor of Jyau for 8 years, died on Sunday. He was 92 years old.

Current Chancellor Matthias Cerfbeer confirmed in a statement that Odell died at a clinic in Gutaai following complications from a urinary tract infection.

Cerfbeer declared three days of national mourning beginning on Sunday in Odell's honor.

Odell took office in July 1980 with the goal of reforming Jyau's economy after his predecessor, Aurelia Holmes, resigned due to a final crisis brought on by hyperinflation.

As Chancellor, he privatized state companies, curtailed the influence of labor unions, slashed state subsidies, fired thousands of government employees as well as tying the Jyau currency to the Zamastanian dollar on a 1-to-1 basis in 1983.

His financial policies helped drop inflation to low single digits, while the economy grew by 6.1% annually from 1981 to 1987 but unemployment rose under his leadership.

The early years of Odell's Chancellorship were also marked by his decision to issue a blanket amnesty to the leaders of the military that staged multiple rebellions against Holmes, who called it "the saddest day in Jyaueze history."

THE ACADRE TRIBUNE
President Cardoza Closes Asylum Policy with West Chanchajilla
Newest move comes following deadly bombing in East Chanchajilla

Following the devastating bombing in East Chanchajilla by a Western agent, President Cardoza of Paraboca has suspended the government's policy of accepting asylum for refugees from the Armbar regime. This comes as the bomber was suspected of posing as a refugee, who entered Paraboca under the guise of a refugee and then, after a few weeks of residing in Paraboca, entered East Chanchajilla and committed the attack.

"Frederick Armbar has used this notorious practice by abusing our sense of civil morality," Garn'n Cardoza said in a statement, going on to say that "Armbar and his cronies will always resort to the worst possible scenario to commit their atrocities."

Tomas Alarcón entered Paraboca under the law stating asylum must be provided to people fleeing the deteriorating socialist dictatorship. Another law stipulates that refugees are allowed to travel under a visa, which allowed Alarcón access into East Chanchajilla despite his nationality. He was arrested roughly an hour after the explosion, reportedly preparing a second bomb inside his rented vehicle, which he claimed to authorities was for "Boer", meaning President Gideon Boer of East Chanchajilla. Authorities have not stated whether a direct threat to President Gideon Boer is imminent, but have stated that the President has substantial security in the wake of the terror attack.

Image

Parabocan authorities have increased security around popular tourist locations and prominent government sites, including the capital and the Presidential residence, in the wake of yesterday's attack. However, they state that an attack is not imminent, and that the increased security is merely a precaution. West Chanchajillan threats have not been made against Paraboca, as it is one of the few nations in the world that still have some diplomatic ties with the hermit nation. However, Paraboca's government has been leaning off their support in recent years due to Armbar's aggressive and shady international dealings, especially with their strictly aggressive stance on their Eastern counterparts, their support of Syrarantoan dictator Kyraikos Tasoulas during a deadly civil war and suspected genocide, and the open support of terror groups around the world.

Some experts believe that the suspension of asylum acceptance will harm relations with West Chanchajilla, as the Armbar regime will no longer be able to manipulate the humanitarian rules to allow their agents to leave the country in a moderately undetectable way. However, others argue that it will actually strengthen relations, as actual refugees will no longer be able to flee the country as efficiently.

Alcarres Will Need To Upgrade Navy to Keep Up With Regional Trend

President Akkin Gunaydin stated on Monday that the government of Alcarres is severely in need of a military upgrade, with the naval forces most desperately needing a overhaul to keep with a trend in the Albarine Sea region of national navies being fitted with more modern equipment at an escalating pace.

After finalizing its deal to buy multirole jet fighters from New Elkland, Alcarres may also seek more modern frigates. Ieraskevi will almost certainly require newer and more modern warships to counter its rival adversaries' rapidly growing naval strength.

Alcarres and New Elkland signed the Z$2.8 billion deal this January. Alcarres is purchasing 18 of those 4.5-generation multirole jet fighters – six of which are brand new and 12 of which formerly served in the New Elkland Air Force – and expects to begin taking delivery of them this July. Elkland and Alcarres already share military equipment as their partnership in CAMDA, but the increased military partnership is an indication of escalating buildup in the region.

Image

Ieraskevi also wants to buy between 18 and 24 stealthy fifth-generation Z-14 jet fighters from Zamastan. It is open to purchasing second-hand versions of these aircraft too, especially if that would speed up their delivery.

Consequently, the Alcarres Air Force is steadily becoming a more modern and powerful air force. The future of its regional rivals, on the other hand, looks bleaker than ever.

Zalluabed and Buckingla, for instance, were suspended from the Z-14 Joint Strike Program and had their respective orders for at least 100 of these advanced stealth fighters canceled after they purchased and took delivery of advanced Drambenburgian air defense missile systems. Furthermore, Zalluabed's large fleet of fighter variants, which make up the backbone of its air force, may severely suffer from a lack of extensive upgrades in the long-term.

While the AAF has a good chance of gaining a highly advantageous technological edge over its rivals by the end of this decade, the Alcarres Navy (AN) could, conversely, find itself more heavily outgunned and outnumbered by the Zalluabed Navy than ever.

The AN presently consists of four Whitetail-class frigates designed in Elkland, products of the ECSO 200 frigate design, and delivered in the 1990s. It also has nine Tali-class frigates built in Emmiria, all aside from two of which formerly served in the Emmirian Navy, and delivered in the 1990s and early 2000s. Aside from this, most of the AN’s surface vessels consist of smaller gunboats. Its submersible fleet consists of 11 Beleroskov-built diesel-electric attack submarines.

RHAGA TRIBUNE
Akram Sulaiman becomes President
Sulaiman succeeded Khayahad al-Azari following his resignation

RHAGA - Outgoing President Khayahad al-Azari congratulated and oversaw the swearing in of Trade and Commerce Minister Akram Sulaiman to the Presidency, following nearly a week-long delay due to infighting between politicians in the National Assembly and the Emmirian Consultative Assembly over the preferred Presidential replacement.

"Akram Sulaiman," al-Azari said last week, "is an upstanding individual who will no-doubt propel our glorious nation to great heights."

Image

"I promise," Sulaiman said in his inaugural statement, "to be a President for all Emmirians. I will progress our nation to new endeavors and we will continue to be the greatest light in the world."

Sulaiman was nearly certain to be the President following al-Azari's resignation, with al-Azari naming him as his preferred sucessor. However, the National Assembly was split with who they wanted to take his place, and the results of their vote was delayed nearly a week after the negotiations between ruling political parties stalled.

Sulaiman now will have a multitude of issues on his plate, including the tensions in the Albarine Sea, worries surrounding terrorism and the insurgency in Jiddiya, and a stagnant oil economy.

ILHAVEIA TRIBUNE
--------------------------------------------------
West Chanchajillan Stefano Capmany Arrested in Ilhaveia
Capmany, Businessman and Known-Crime Lord with Ties to SHADOW, Suspected of Planning Attack Against Lutharia Government

Stefano Capmany, a West Chanchajillan businessman and long-suspected crime lord in a global crime syndicate, has been arrested in Ilhaveia following an investigation that unveiled a plot to attack Lutharian government sites and assassinate prominent leaders, including President Baldur Hirschl.

Capmany, who ran a prolific restaurant in downtown Ilhaveia, was arrested on suspicion to commit political violence, espionage, and several charges ranging from drug smuggling to murder charges. Capmany is also a well known associate of Frederick Armbar, the dictator of West Chanchajilla, who is currently being condemned worldwide for his role in supporting authoritarian regimes, terror groups, and the recent bombing in East Chanchajilla that killed 76 people.

Lutharia, following Capmany's arrest, announced additional arrests of his associates and a suspected tie to the shadowy global crime syndicate known as SHADOW, which has been linked to political maneuverings across the world in events such as the coup d'etat attempt in Qolaysia and recent engagements in Azil by Timerian forces. There are concerns that, despite Stefano Capmany's detention, the West Chanchajillan government or SHADOW will continue their dangerous and seemingly unrelenting attacks across the world, which could have included Lutharia

Image

Largely unconditional and unengaged in global politics, Lutharia has rarely been at the center of global affairs. However, with the expanse and sudden mass-arrest trend of West Chanchajillan diplomats internationally, fears are growing in Lutharian political circles that the nation will be brought to the forefront of the news if a West Chanchajillan sponsored terrorist is able to commit an attack. In response to these worries, security has been increased nationwide, especially at political sites, culturally significant and tourist attractions, and schools.

VILANJA SENTINEL
BOMBING IN CAPITAL KILLS 21
AUTHORITIES SUSPECT ARMBAR BEHIND ATTACK, SECOND OF ITS KIND IN LESS THAN A WEEK

VILANJA - Only three days after a devastating bombing rocked the lake-side city of Meguén, a second attack has blasted through a restaurant in the East Chanchajillan capital of Vilanja, killing 21 people and injuring hundreds more. The national terror level has been raised to its highest ever, and President Boer has been granted emergency powers to enact sweeping security acts.

Investigators are certain that this second attack is also part of the Armbar regime's strategy of attempts to assassinate prominent politicians who have strengthened sanctions against the West Chanchajillan government, as one of the victims in today's bombing has been identified as Carlos Hasreia, a congressman in the Parliament.

The bombing occurred at a popular downtown restaurant in the capital of Vilanja, and it was especially packed due to week-long celebrations for the 70th anniversary of East Chanchajilla republicanism. The bomb, hidden inside a backpack similar to the concert bombing on Sunday, ripped through the building, blowing out windows across the block and causing a partial collapse. The suspected bomber is still at large, but authorities claim they know who it is without informing the public of their identity.

Image

President Gideon Boer has promised action, saying "West Chanchajilla's tyranical and evil government proves no morality. We will make them pay." There are escalating indications that Boer's administration is preparing for a versatile option of response, which may include a military strike. The two nations fought for several months in 2019 over escalating tensions in the Turania region, but the new tactic of terror attacks against civilian targets is a mode of violence Armbar's forces have apparently only recently begun to use directly.

President Moreau of Zamastan has extended condolences for both attacks, but has not spoken directly about what Zamastan's response to the recent attacks will be. The Zamastanian Secretary of State, Jessiah Vallotis, stated prior to Sunday's attack (in response to West Chanchajillan diplomatic arrests across the Coalition of Crown Albatross), that the West Chanchajillan dictatorship does not have any morality when it comes to the plight of the everyday person.

West Chanchajillan diplomats have been linked to numerous crimes across the world, including conspiracy to commit attacks or inspire and conduct others to undertake attacks. Stefano Capmany, for example, is a West Chanchajillan businessman and long-suspected crime lord in a global crime syndicate, who was arrested yesterday in Ilhaveia, Great Lutharia, following an investigation that unveiled a plot to attack Lutharian government sites and assassinate prominent leaders, including President Baldur Hirschl.

RHAGA TRIBUNE
Al-Azari to Meet With Alecburgh's Queen Diana
The Former-President Will Travel to Kynnport This Week

KYNNPORT - Former-President Khayahad al-Azari will meet this week with Queen Diana of Alecburgh, announced Royal Advisor Gildroy McIntyre on Thursday. This meeting, seen by many as a confusing move for the moderately-positioned former President, comes on the heals of immense public scrutiny against Queen Diana for her recent actions in deposing Prime Minister Benjamin Warren, establishing full-royal authority over Alecburgh, and instituting marital law against protest movements across the country. Amidst the announcement, the metro areas of Port Croix and Jacksonville were placed under lockdown after protests against Queen Diana turned violent last week.

When asked why he was meeting with Queen Diana, former President al-Azari stated "I'm no longer in charge. I'm no longer President. It's time for forgiveness."

Image

"This is a momentous occasion!", said RA Gildroy McIntyre of the Advisors for Queen Diana to the press.

Emmiria's official position on Queen Diana's absolute rule in recent weeks has not been lenient. Emmirian diplomats have requested and advised that a special election be instated to reaffirm the country's diplomatic principle and reinstall a Prime Minister, although a general agreement among politicians in the National Assembly is that Benjamin Warren was a criminal. Warren, in January, sent forces to the border of Saint Croix and Bens as an intimidation tactic, which was widely condemned.

Former President al-Azari has stated publicly that this meeting is purely personal, but experts believe he may try to convince the Queen to establish new national elections for a new Prime Minister and other elected officials during the meeting.

SAINT CROIX JOURNAL
URSKABAU CONDEMNS WEST CHANCHAJILLA
The President Motioned the Coalition of Crown Albatross to Unanimously Condemn the Armbar Government

Saint Elmenau - President William Urskabau officially issued a condemnation of West Chanchajilla on Thursday in the wake of violent terror attacks that have killed nearly 100 people in East Chanchajilla this past week, and is now calling on Coalition of Crown Albatross Secretary General Katherine von Wettin to put to vote a resolution to condemn West Chanchajilla for their actions.

"Frederick Armbar and his rogue regime have destroyed the ideal of moral display," Urskabau stated in a statement to the Saint Croix and Bens legislature, "and we condemn them in the strongest possible terms. Innocent lives are being snuffed away by their renegade violence, and for what more than to anger the world?"

He went on to plead with Secretary General von Wettin to adopt his resolution proposal to condemn West Chanchajilla at the General Assembly in Tofino this next week.

"Madam Secretary General," Urskabau said, "adopt Resolution 236 and have the international delegates vote to condemn this tyrannical and maniacal regime on the floor of the General Assembly."

Von Wettin, who is in her second year of her five year term, has already seen dynamic shifts in the global political and crisis realm, already known for revoking the seats of Martin Saint-Yves' Ossinia government in 2020 and the Tasoulas government seat in the wake of the civil war in Syraranto.

Urskabau's comments are also the first he has made in regards to West Chanchajilla, as Saint Croix and Bens is largely disconnected from the central Euronian nation's reach.
