How did YL ascend to power?

Postby Houtengrond » Sun Feb 07, 2021 3:52 am

Simply give a summary of how YL ascended to power, or give an explicit description if you wish.
(Sorry if this is a replica of a similar topic, I personally couldn't find one like this)
I'll start.
President Nancy Tillman began her political career in July of 2019 as the Chief Advisor to the former President Caroline Holtzclaw. Tillman was noticed by an electoral advisor for the Federal Council's Left Coalition for having "quality traits for a politician". This electoral advisor suggested she run for her district's FC seat since it was vacant. She took up on the suggestion and registered to run. She was elected to the Federal Council and quickly became a notable figure in the country's political scene.
In January 2020, President Holtzclaw resigned due to declining health and the Chair of the Federal Council, Francis Umfreville (not an intentional House of Cards reference, got the name from a generator lol) ascended to the Presidency. As a result of his ascension, a Chair election had to be held, and Tillman was chose to be the Left Coalition's nominee. The Chair election would be one of the most competitive in history since neither the Right Coalition or Left Coalition had an absolute majority and both had to campaign to Non-Caucusing Independents.
The Chair Election was scheduled to take place on March 31st, 2020, on that same day, tragedy struck as President Umfreville was assassinated by a car bomb. Given that no one was the official Chair, the High Servant (Attorney General basically) Jay Russel became the acting president for 5 hours. The Chair Election was tied with Mary Williams of the RC receiving 75 votes and Nancy Tillman of the LC receiving 75. Given that Russel was a member of the dying National Conservative party, many expected him to choose Williams, however he chose Tillman to be the Chair, likely to avoid national outcry since the LC had a non-absolute majority and was more preferred in the polls.
A minute after being sworn to be the Chair, she was sworn in to be the President because of constitution's process for Presidential succession.

I'm a bad writer, sorry.

Prime Minister Park Sang-Hee was elected Leader of the Gandoor Communist Party in 2022, succeeding Lucy Kobayashi. As party leader, she became the Communist candidate for the office of Prime Minister in the 2024 National and Forum Election.

In the elections, which occurred on 6 July 2024, the Communist Party won 487 of 1000 seats and a plurality in the Forum, with Park resigning her seat in the Forum on 8 July (unlike in other parliamentary systems, the Gandoorese Prime Minister must resign their seat in order to take office), and on 11 October 2024, Park was formally appointed to the office of Prime Minister by the 41st Forum of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor as their first official act.

The Emperor became when his father abdicated for health reasons, and was officially the leader when the parliament elected him as Federal President of the German Realm and Emperor of the Germans.

Chancellor Katharina Bierlein became chancellor after the governing coalition of house of deputies elected her after a Chancellor Westmark resigned from parliament. She has been since confirmed as the Party Leader of the Social Democratic Party of the German Realm ahead of the 2021 federal election.

Kazova Nashawa started her political career in the Bornaeku City council in 498 after going to college. In 500 she won the race for mayor of the city of Bornaeku. In 506 she ran for the republic of Bornaeku's 12th representative district and won the race. Her reputation for being outspoken about her views drew support from the left and criticism from the right nationally, and she energized younger voters to turn out. She ran successfully for her legislative seat from 506 to 512, and in 514 she ran for one of Bornaeku's upper council (senate) seats, serving for 6 years and deciding not to run again in 520 and instead opting to run for president, with the endorsement of Randy Forthright (independent president from 508 to 520) and Sanda Burnuti (democratic socialist candidate in 516) she won the race, with 33.5% of first round votes and 52.1% of final round votes. She is the first person from her party, the democratic socialist party, to be elected to this office.

The position of head of government in Australia is derived from the House of Representatives, the lower house of our legislature, the Federal Parliament. The leader of the party/coalition with the majority of seats in the House of Reps. assumes the position of Prime Minister. Our current head of government, Prime Minister Gene O'Caelleigh, has been politically active for nearly his entire adult life, in both the Federal Parliament and the Syndicates (our executive branch).

His syndic career began whilst he was still in high-school, as he took on an apprenticeship within his local branch of the Victorian Consolidated Infrastructure Syndicate within the urban planning division. After a few years of work, and completing his apprenticeship & civil service, he was elected by his collective to be their State Syndic Delegate. He proved to be an effective and amicable representative and retained his position as delegate for over a decade and a half, serving on many state committees and even as one of the members of the state secretariat for several years. He also served as the Victorian Cabinet Minister for Infrastructure for two terms at the end of his Syndic career.

Gene decided to switch tracks and run for Federal Parliament in 2007. He joined the Industrial Socialist Party and was comfortably elected on first-preference votes in his home commune, and has retained this seat since. In 2016, when the Industrial Socialist Party lost its coalition majority to the Labor Party, Gene was selected to replace the outgoing I.S.P. leader and thus became the Leader of the Opposition. His coalition was able to return to government in the following election in 2019, and as such Gene became the Prime Minister. Another election in 2022 saw Gene retain his leadership position, with the next election scheduled for 2025 (it is presently 2024).

The position of head of state is shared in our nation between a directorial council - the State Council. The membership of this council is also drawn from the Parliament; the leaders of the largest political parties in the senate are granted seats on this council, to the effect that the membership of the council represents collectively and sequentially at least 66% of constituents, and is of an odd number. The current State Council consists of 5 State Councilors;

  • Malcolm Ambrose Arnott of the Industrial Socialist Party
  • Glen Seung of the Australian Labor Party
  • Joelle Briscoe of the Country Party
  • Emilos Koutsopoulos of the Christian Social Democrats
  • Rennae Russell Tucker of the Australian Green Party

Rather than post an induvidual biography of each State Councilors, in brief, all the current state councilors are experienced Senators, and most have experience at the State, as well as Federal, level. Senators are elected on a multi-member state-wide proportional basis, as opposed to for specific communes, and so represent their state/territory as a whole rather than their local commune.

Harold Lawson became the Prime Minister when his party, then called the Conservative Party, won the May 2019 general election. He won due to having a large media presence, a brash and direct personality and a populist ideology.

Maru Satsaenyak ascended to the Chancellorship via his election. But to give a more in-depth elaboration as to his political success, Satsaenyak's ambition, eloquence, and approach to governing were all the best fit for the situation at this moment in Merriwhethran history. Increasing wealth inequality, recovery from the Recession of '08 - '09, the growing prominence of the threat of Climate Change, and rapid changes in industrial and communications technology were all in play prior to the election of 2010. Satsaenyak had been a rising star of the DSP prior to '08, having served a term as a provincial governor and one-and-a-half terms in the Lower Assembly and made waves with his radical ideas and talent for argument.

By the end of his first term, he formed the Freedom Caucus, an intraparty faction interested in more socialistic policy than the mainstream Democratic-Sovereigntists, together with 35 sympathetic legislators of the Lower and Upper Assemblies. Through the beginning of his second term, he worked to forge closer cooperation between his faction and the Socialist Party of Merriwhether, who were natural political allies and, while not an immense party, held enough seats to tip the scales on certain legislative propositions. He held a certain demonstrative skill for disarming the more moderate majority of the DSP with his use of language and appeals tailored to more Social Liberal and even Centrist views, and worked tirelessly to establish a great deal of credit and trust with individual party members. Of course, in hindsight, this was all preparatory work. His latest and greatest triumph would be his takeover via the Chancellorship.

In late 2008, early 2009, as we know, a serious collapse in market speculation and bad-credit lending resulted in the Great Recession. The Merriwhethran economy, which saw a great deal of growth in exports and finance in years prior, bore a crippling blow to its most vital sector. Though managed effectively on the local scale, with the activation of the 1948 Economic Crisis Relief Dispensation Protocol, it brought growth to a grinding halt, and nearly two-million jobs were shed seemingly overnight. The concurrent administration of Right Centrist Chancellor Kaehaba Ryoraesa pursued a policy of economic recovery through austerity and tax relief, resulting in an immediately greater loss of jobs and a great deal of political conflict over national budget shortfalls and draw-downs on unemployment disbursement. Austerity proved to be an unpopular approach, and parties in opposition seized upon this to rebuke the RCP, ensuring that the next Chancellor would belong to the DSP.

In all the Ryoraesa Administration is one remembered fondly among the Merriwhethran Right for its rainbow coalition, but also doomed by its dependence upon the other parties to maintain its legislative majority. The fallout fractured trust between the RCP, the CP, the GP. and the Liberty Party. The Liberty Party pushed the hardest for the recovery policy that the administration pursued, and as a result, suffered immense losses to the other parties on the Right; so much so that their membership fell beneath the threshold for participation in the national legislature. Congressman Satsaenyak's work in forging ties with the SPM ensured that it would be displaced by a stronger two-party coalition under his imminent Chancellorship. So it was, as the saying emerged, that "Liberty was slain, and Freedom came to reign." Not word for word, of course, but to translate a rhyme of Akaenailu to a rhyme of English with the essence intact.

His was initially a dark horse candidacy in the 2010 elections. Many people had never heard of the congressman, despite his notoriety in political circles. However, the mounting frustration with austerity bolstered the strength of his calls for significant expansions to national unemployment insurance, and his position in favor of greater oversight and regulation of the financial sector struck a chord with both those affected by the job loss and many a socialistically or social democratically inclined voter. The same can be said for his clear views on Climate Change-concerned reforms, promoting workplace democracy and social corporatism, and many others. This platform picked up many voters who sat out in the elections of previous decades due to cynicism with the DSP's neglect of their interests and disregard or disagreement with the approach of the Socialist Party. Such is the reason why many were caught surprised by his explosion in the polls, driven by largely unexpected turnout, and his victory in the DSP primaries, which made him a shoe-in to becoming Chancellor. In the end, he won with 56%; a strong majority.

By winning the election.

Actually it's a little more complicated than that.

While it's true that he won the election, and indeed won a landslide, this wasn't so much a reflection of him as it was of his predecessor Jaagen Autenberg. President Steven McCarthy was Autenberg's Vice President and became the SDU nominee when Autenberg announced he was too ill to run for a second term - but his endorsement was enough to win McCarthy a landslide victory. (It also helped that the LCP nominated someone with radical views that were out of step with what Radiatians were after at the time.)

Prior to becoming Jaagen Autenberg's Vice President, Steven McCarthy was a Federal Senator representing the state of South Corpshire.

President Laura Nyborg was elected president in 2019 with support from 54% of the voters in the second round. She first entered politics as federal MP in 1999 as a New Democrat quickly rising within the NDP. She was appointed deputy prime minister/finance minister from 2003-2005 before ousting her former boss Thomas Gates. She served as prime minister from 2005-2011 leading a minority government from 2007-2011. Nyborg left politics after the NDP suffered major losses in the 2011 election. She returned to the political arena in 2015 when she ran for and won a seat in the Federal Senate becoming a leading critic of the ruling Conservatives. She won her party's presidential nomination in 2019 and won a competitive race and bringing her party back into government leading a center-left governing with the Greens.

She is expected to run for reelection in 2023.

The former president, Jeon Hyun-kkoch, was extremely popular and had 5 consecutive terms, but decided to not seek re-election. Her party, the Quartian Environmental Party, didn't have a good candidate so it was really a contest between the other 2 major parties. Lellin Nimagyeo, a political outsider, was very popular for her own views more so than her party's, so she won a decisive victory.

plurality vote of the members of the next broader level of councils. ultimately, at the broadest level, everyone elects the members of their local council, who then elect the members of their district councils and so on, up or down or whichever you want to call it, to national council, which consists of a small and always uneven number of persons. nine is considered optimal, while as few as five or as many as 13 can work. there is no individual power. only consensus at each level.

and likewise there are no political parties nor need for them.
very little of anything resembling campaigning either, with some communities forbidding campaigning outright.

Anatoli Piesiyackiya and the Social Democratic Party won the 2016 election, after the fallout of the previous Fox government. Jamie Fox's administration was extremely unpopular and his approval rating was hovering at 20% before the election. Anatoli Piesiyackiya promised an end to the painful austerity and budget cuts of the previous administration, and he along with Anna Sherman of the Green Party won the election with 100 seats and a majority government. The only reason they didn't win more was because of gerrymandering carried out under the Fox government, which benefited the Progressive Conservative Party.

TurtleShroom is run by a joint head of state, which is also the joint head of government. The TurtleShroomian Crown is the head of state and government, and it is comprised of three Tsars. Tsar Maven Outtacountry is the turtle Tsar, Tsarina Tammy Olvia is the human Tsar, and Tsar Grigory Wip is the mushroom Tsar.

All three Tsars of TurtleShroom were enthroned at the end of the TurtleShroomian Civil War by a consensus of the warlords and leaders of the various Cliques, after they agreed to make peace with the Loyalists in exchange for a seat at the table going forward.

The various Cliques that warred each other eventually set aside their differences and instead killed off the Marxist revolters, who started the war, after the Loyalists approached them and offered them each an equal seat at the table when the nation was restructured and rebuilt. They demanded an end to TurtleShroom as an unitary state and wanted more autonomy to run their own ideologies under the TurtleShroomian banner. These requests were granted for the sake of avoiding the shed of any more non-Marxist TurtleShroomian blood.

The three reigning Tsars were the candidates that the Clique warlords and representatives jointly agreed to anoint. Normally, a new head of state of TS is drawn from the deceased predecessor's pool of twelve potential "heirs" (which he chose beforehand), called the Majestic Twelve.

Since it's establishment way back in 1718, the Emperorship was being passed down by members of the Nortonian Bloodline, the Royal Family of the Empire of New Goldman. The current monarch, Harry Norton II, took power after the death of his power, Michael II, in 1974. The Prince of The House, aka the Emperor's oldest son, is set to replace him once he passes on. The current POTH is Raul Norton.

As for the Prime Minister, his position is democratically decided. The PM has a term of 4 years, with no term restrictions. The current holder of this position, Boris Samuel Johnson, became Prime Minister after being re-elected during the November 2020 General Elections, which notoriously took 10 days to announce the winner, which was Johnson himself.

She first entered politics as federal MP in 1999 as a New Democrat quickly rising within the NDP.

Forgot to include the head of government.

Prime Minister Charles Yang was first elected to parliament in 2011 to a safe NDP seat in Hampshire State. A former metropolitan mayor, Yang quickly rose through the NDP caucus becoming the party spokesperson on transportation issues. In late 2013 Yang was appointed Deputy Transportation Minister in the Social Democratic-New Democratic coalition government. He was named the NDP spokesperson for local government after the 2015 election. Yang was elected party conference chairman in 2016 election. This post is the third highest ranking party office after party leader and deputy leader. After the 2017 election Yang was elected party leader leading the party in a more left-wing direction. While Yang supported the Grand Coalition government of 2017-2018 and voted to allow a presidential emergency government from 2018-2019 he did not serve in either. Following the 2019 federal snap election Yang was appointed prime minister by newly elected President Laura Nyborg.

He is expected to run in the next election in 2023.
