How did your nation came into existence?

My nation was formed by a war called the Demation wars which is a war between Donauliton and Anquia and lasted between 1941-1946. Anquia won the war and set up a treaty which made Goraria independent in 1947. But back then I was named Wentaria and it was more authoritarian. In 1950, a successful coup changed the nation into a more democratic country although it still had rules to the old authoritarian state that is still in place today. The name was unchanged until in 1975 where it was changed into Goraria.

I am surprised how this is still semi active.

Tl;dr

Seven power hungry Counts couldn't get along until foreign invasion forced them to ally together to win, but by doing so gave the people a sense of national pride and forced them to give up their power, wealth and armies to a singular ruler that everyone liked because he oversaw most of the fighting. Everything was swell for a hundred and so years, until a monarch tried to abolish parliament for not letting him rule the country like a dictator which made everyone take to the streets in protest. parliament and the armed forces saw that a civil war was about to break out and teamed up to abolish the monarchy and arrest the king but by then everyone was wanting to be independent again so the country re-organised itself into a federation to appease everyone. Everything has been going swell since.

Or to summarize: Settled by exiles from England, settlers eventually established an absolute monarchy, after a few hundred years a non-violent revolution against the monarchy occurred (despite attempts by said monarchy to reform into a more democratic constitutional one), last monarch abdicated and dissolved the throne, revolutionaries established the modern parliamentary republic that is the modern Democratic Republic at the start of the 20th century after a couple of years of governing as an interim government.

A bunch of rich elves convinced people they deserved to be that rich. This basically resulted in anarcho-capitalism for a while. Then the son of this dude with a huge military came into power because his dad died, and turns out the guy was actually a decent person and while he essentially caused multiple massacres with his huge military, he ended up forming some semblance of a government and eventually got the federation to accept voindi as a member nation hoping that it would do something to improve the lives of the citizens. Big military dude (Yep I'm just making this up rn haven't even named him yet) proceeded to rule as a fairly benevolent dictator for several decades, which the federation put up with because they understood that the country was in a transitional period. Then 30 years later that guy's oldest son killed him. At this point the federation considered getting involved but they had a downright scary military. Then that oldest son's 9 brothers got all peeved and insisted on having a role in the government, they all ended up dying under...."mysterious" circumstances and the council of the chairman basically insisted that the government have some form of meritocracy/democracy involved instead of the country just becoming some form of monarchy. From there the government system became more refined and more corrupt which led to the now industrial age country of voindi. Voindi would leave the federation, but there is another country in the federation with a very large military, which has essentially led to a "cold war" type of situation.

Well basically, there was a corrupt ruler by the name of Giovanni Barilaro, commonly referenced by the vast majority of the non-Italians as "Bruz". The ruling elites were wealthy landowners who horded the vast majority of the wealth, cutting welfare programs and pointlessly investmenting into areas that only existed on paper. People outside of the ruling elite were divided into two camps: the Italians and the non-Italians, as the Italians were treated more favourably with practically everything in society. Women weren't treated any better than the men, with only few being able to feel safe alone.

Then it all came crashing down, when in 1997, Bruz decided to cut Medicare, the last bastion of welfare for the masses enacted by Gough Krudd-Keating in a bygone era. A general strike was organised by The Prawn King at Engadine Mcdonalds to destroy the Bruz menace. The entire army was on the side of the strikers, and the remaining few pure bureaucrats joined the people as well. The entire ruling elite was exterminated for their crimes against The People, with Bruz meeting a similar fate to that of Mussolini. It was that year, 1997, that the people became free from the reactionary menace, where all are free and equal, a government that speaks for the masses, a constitution that doesn't pull punches on the corrupt, and the tools to secure itself as a fully independent nation.

The Empire of Whitemore was initially formed as an Emergency Government by the remnants of the Terran Military. They tried to organize what was left of Humanity after a devastating Alien attack on Terra that had forced us to flee light years away into space. However, as the situation stabilized and colonization efforts were launched a coup occurred that was led by then Supreme Commander of the Terran Military Edward Cornelius (or Emperor Cornelius I as referred to in Imperial Textbooks), he promptly executed via firing squad all who opposed him and his new order he established. Thus for the past 400 years has the Empire stood tall over the Hordes of Xenos that assault us on all sides.

A more detailed description can be found in the first few paragraphs of my history Factbook HERE, but I'll give a succinct rundown here as well:

- The Hughes nationalist government, during WW1, curtailed civil liberties and workers' rights, as in OTL. However, in this instance, the Great War continued on until 1921 and ended in stalemate, and Hughes was able to force conscription on Australians and further suppress freedoms.

- Returned soldiers, completely disillusioned with the Empire and Hughes, found unlikely allies in the IWW and militant trade unions, working together for mutual benefit to stockpile arms and smuggle foreign war comrades/lovers to Australia in contravention of the White Australia Policy.

- The (now Bruce) nationalist government fudged a razor-thin victory in the first post-war election in coalition with the Country Party and doubled down on authoritarianism immediately, though the Labor and Country parties acted to stymie this to varying degrees.

- A general strike and week of protest was held leading up to Labor Day on May 1°, and when the army was sent in, many defected to the side of the workers who, now greatly outnumbering government forces, moved to enact a coup.

- The coup was quick, largely bloodless, and new elections were soon held (most nationalists were exiled back to Britain). A new constitution was prepared, and expected retaliation from Britain never came as they themselves suffered a revolution.

- New Zealand soon joined the new Commonwealth.

Much of what is now Platia was part of the Spanish Viceroyalty of Rio de la Plata. The cities of Buenos Aires and Montevideo were captured by the British in 1807, and following the Napoleonic Wars most of Rio de la Plata became a colony of Great Britain. After almost a decade of war between the new River Plate Colony and Spanish settlers who wished to create an independent republic, a peace settlement was reached in 1824 which established a federal state under the British crown in which all inhabitants would enjoy equal treatment under the law and the position of the Spanish language and the Catholic church would be protected. This led to the formation of the United Provinces of the River Plate, which became commonly known as 'Platia'. Over the course of the 19th century the nation began to expand southwards to the tip of South America, and experienced large-scale immigration, particularly from the British Isles. For this reason, in 1899 the decision was made to move the federal capital from Buenos Aires (which was by now majority English-speaking) to a new city nearer to the centre of the country, in order to be closer to the mostly Spanish-speaking western provinces. Platia was granted full internal self-governance in 1910 and became an independent Commonwealth dominion in 1931.

The UAC was formed after an uprising of the workers and farmers in the northeastern and central United States during the heart of the Great Depression. After a brutal conflict against both the remnants of the United States and a reborn Confederate states, the UAC was able to firmly establish their sovereignty and liberate the working people of America.

So basically, after Napoleon dies in Egypt when the battle of the Pyramids goes horribly wrong for the French, the British take it as an opportunity to declare war on the Revolutionary French, supplying the Chouan rebels in the Chouannerie while making their own moves. After several bloody campaigns across most of France, the Revolutionaries are forced to surrender and be exiled to Anatolia, while Jean Chouan (who didn't die in 1794 in this timeline) gets proclaimed as King Cottereau I. Of course, there would be a moment where the royal family gets forced out and is replaced with a military Junta hence the current pretitle of my nation, but that story is for another day.

[Somiens-et-Haveras]

Millennia ago, a slight change in the movement of oceanic crust in the North Pacific created an island chain now located at approximately 37°N, 172°E. Years later, sometime around 1100 CE, the islands were colonized by seafaring eastern Polynesian settlers.

The members of John Cook's third voyage, having themselves outlived their captain, became the first Europeans to encounter the islands in 1779 while en route to Kamchatka from Hawaii. Soon after, French Catholic missionaries established a presence on the islands. Working with the support of the French, newly converted Catholic tribal leaders conquered the islands and established the Kingdom of Hawe'ale, a French protectorate, in 1835.

After followers of traditional indigenous religion overthrew the Catholic monarch in 1853, the French Empire under Napoleon III annexed the islands with encouragement from indigenous Catholics and Western businessmen. The newly formed colony was named Somiens-et-Haveras, a bastardization of the indigenous names for the two main islands of the archipelago, and its capital was established at Sainte-Marie-de-Somiens.

As a French Colony, Somiens-et-Haveras received heavy investments under the direction of Emperor Napoleon III, who endeavored to increase French power in the Pacific. The Empire shipped off thousands of French colonists, many of them convicts and dissidents, in order to increase development on the islands. By the late 19th century, Somiens-et-Haveras had also become an important center of Japanese immigration. Before the beginning of the 20th century, the immigrant population outnumbered the indigenous population by more than 3:1.

Before 1840, Baseball had become the most popular sport in the colony, having been introduced by Japanese and American immigrants.

In WWII Somiens-Et-Haveras was occupied by Japan along with several of France's Asian possessions. After the liberation of Sainte-Marie by American soldiers, the islands were returned to France.

During the disastrous Indochina War, popular sentiment for independence spiked. The prominent political left of Somiens-et-Haveras strongly opposed the war, sympathizing with the plight of Indochinese communists. In 1953, representatives from different Somiénois-et-Haverasien nationalist parties convened in the National Constitutional Assembly. On June 27th, 1954 they declared independence from France as the short-lived Republic of Somiens-et-Haveras. The French, already reeling from losses in Indochina and confronted with the burgeoning independence movement in Algeria, had neither the resources nor the inclination to start a war with a predominately white, French speaking colony. They recognized Somiénois-et-Haverasien sovereignty on June 29th.

The first election resulted in a landslide victory for the Socialist Republican Party, giving them control of the executive and legislature with 2/3rds majority, marking the beginning the December Revolution. With a series of plebiscites, voters approved the establishment of a Marxist-Leninist one-party state modeled after the USSR, the banishment of all non-socialist political parties, the nationalization of the healthcare, education, energy, transportation, and communications industries, the appropriation of all foreign-held assets, and a complete democratization of the economy through the empowerment of unions and the establishment of co-operatives. The nation's name was officially changed to the Socialist Republic of Somiens-et-Haveras, and the new constitution was ratified on June 27th, 1954, exactly one year after declaring independence from France.
