Reathwood hastens to construct Western Isles Democratic Alliance offices

29 January 2020

WHITE BLUFF — The contract for the design and construction of the political offices of the Western Isles Democratic Alliance, which has selected Reathwood's capital as its venue for political summits, has fallen to architecture and construction giant Romund-Edwards. Despite intense local competition for the contract, Romund-Edwards—the largest dual architecture-construction company in Reathwood—was awarded the job after promises of a design and construction period lasting no longer than two years. Due to growing skepticism in the Landsall of corporate welfare and government alliances with monopolies, the contract had strict terms, including several stipulations demanding that Romund-Edwards outsource some of its construction process to local firms. Other restrictions unrelated to monopolistic practices included that the end design "befit" the neoclassical style of White Bluff's political architecture and receive approval from a government-formed commission. President Elvewer spoke on the contract in standard English Friday morning—

. . . the Romund-Edwards group has had a long history of service to the Republic of Reathwood, stretching nobly from its foundation in 1918 through the national turmoils of the mid-century and the great triumphs of the modern age . . . with its commitment to timely and reliable building, we find it to be our first and best choice in crafting a grand venue for the Alliance to which we have bound ourselves. Keeping with our high standards of competition, however, we have ensured that Romund-Edwards shall collaborate fairly and justly with other firms in its construction of this esteemed project. . . .

The offices of the Alliance have temporarily been stationed in the downtown Mighter building, which formerly hosted the corporate suites of now-defunct automobile manufacturer Outhwood. After Outhwood's dissolution in autumn 2020, often attributed to the encroaching Swisher monopoly, the city has maintained ownership of the building. Plans for an automobile museum to be hosted in the building have been put on hold while the national government leases the building for the Alliance.

"Mercy-killing bill" to go before Parliament tomorrow for voting

Image

By Kristofer Janssen
After years of rising public support for legalisation to legalise euthanasia, a bill was tabled before parliament last week, and after days of debate, it will go to vote at 2pm tomorrow. Branded the "mercy-killing bill", known officially as the Termination of Life on Request and Assisted Dying Bill, was brought before parliament by New Democratic MP Mathilde Johnsen and was co-authored by three other Liberal MPs. She understandably broke down in Parliament whilst telling the tragic story of her late mother, who suffered from dementia, and opened up regarding her suffering. She also presented a petition from her constituents, 78% of which supported her efforts to legalise euthanasia.

The bill has been opposed openly by countless Conservative MPs, most of whom form the Parliamentary Group of Christians, who campaign in Parliament for Christian-related issues. The in-government Liberal and Social Democrat Party have been whipped to vote in favour of it, as have the New Democrats and the Labour Party, but Prime Minister Ødegaard faces a significant rebellion from the more religious Members of Parliament from within the Liberal Party. Thirteen Liberal Party MPs have openly stated they will not support the bill and they will vote against it, dealing a blow to the minority government.

Religious leaders and figures within the country have also announced their opposition stating that "only God can decide when someone departs this place". Protests outside the parliament halted the debate on Wednesday after some protesters made their way into the Forum building and began banging on the chamber doors - they were promptly removed by police.

New Democrat Leader Mathias Jensen spoke about the implications of this bill on the political sphere of Nurbaria: "The lastest polls suggest some 74% support for legalising euthanasia" he said, "however it is looking more and more likely each day that this bill will fail. How is that democratic?" Jensen says, although his party will be whipped to vote in favour of the Bill, he would prefer a confirmatory referendum on the matter, even though the government have no intention to support or even table such.

As it stands, the 13-MP Liberal rebellion would likely be enough to derail the Government's plans, taking into account the official stance of the Conservative party. However, the New Democrats have met with some of the more socially liberal Conservative MPs, and their support could change the entire fate of the bill. It's going to be an interesting 24 hours on Havik Hill.

FIRST RUNOFF ENDS, OTHER STARTING PRESENTLY
This morning the first runoff ended with evident results. Grongen was left in shame as Lachenko and Tokanskn advance. What happened here? No one really has figured what actions occurred to make this runoff a landslide. One clear guess is that the Trigelian citizens did not fully support his words of no guns and a bigger government. One citizen was recalled stating: "He wanted to turn our country in to a dictatorship." Well after that loss, tomorrow the second runoff will start and we will see who is orderly chosen as Ministint.

TERROSIT ATTACK IN PRIZENALOKI
Yesterday while the election continued, explosions pummeled Prizenaloki, one of Trigel's biggest cities. Multiple buildings were destroyed, including where the candidates of the election were going to have a debate today. 4 were killed, and 12 were injured. The TSA (Trigel security Agency) Is looking for clues of whom did this and where they are from. So far it is seen they are Trigelian rebels that want to spark a war, Remodin Terrorist's, or escaped prisoners. Most cities have been put on safety alert as bombs were also spotted near the small town Czck.

There are arguments that the second runoff should be put on hold. It will be decided tomorrow what will happen. If more bombs are detonated, the Trigelian army and air force will be mobilized. Stay safe everyone and review the news tomorrow to see what will occur in the next runoff.

Domestic: Alesian riots wane, Imperial Guard withdraw
Anna Rezan, Alesia, Kingdom of Dacia

As the last of the 5th Battalion of the Imperial Guard leave Alesia, the end is finally in sight for the 2020-21 Alesian Riots.

Starting in mid-June of 2020 as a protest against the mass arrest and removal of the homeless and poor populations in Alesia, and across Doravo, the protests soon evolved into riots against the increasingly authoritarian government and the brutal repression of the protestors.

The riots reached an all-time high in December when the Alesian Police fired live rounds indiscriminately into an advancing crowd, killing 21 and wounding 103.

In early January, Chancellor Adrian Caruso authorized the 5th Imperial Guard Battalion's deployment to the city of Alesia to assist the local police.

The Inquisitorial Service also sent a special team to the city, though their purpose is unknown.

Early Friday morning January 29th, the rioters' de facto leader, Rufus Nakos, was arrested by local police and transferred to the Inquisitorial Service satellite facility in Alesia.

His arrest marks a pivotal moment for Doravo as one of the most wanted criminals is finally detained.

Nakos’ supporters were spotted gathering outside the DIS facility before the leaders were also detained as the rest scattered.

Her highness Sofia III had this to say...
"The ending of the Alesian Riots brings great joy to me as the citizens of Alesia and across Doravo can finally rest easy as the violence ends. However, the arrest of Mr. Nakos concerns me. Yes, he was a very violent and disruptive citizen, but there is no evidence of any criminal activities and the arrest threatens our nation's stance on the right to free speech."

In response, Chancellor Adrian Caruso said this,
“The arrest of the terrorist Rufus Nakos and his supporters brings honour to the brave members of the Imperial Guard and Inquisitorial Service. This terrorist threatened the people of Alesia and all of Doravo with his dangerous demands and actions. The people can rest easy now knowing Nakos is behind bars.”

Despite the few scattered rioters across Alesia, the primary groups have dispersed, and many businesses are now beginning to open back up.

The Queen of Dacia, Her excellency Cassandra II expressed her delight at the ending of the riots, saying, “I am delighted that these vicious riots have ended and the great citizens of Alesia can return to their daily lives. And it saddens me to think that so many Doravans joined in the riots."

Her excellency went on to ask that any true proud Doravan should avoid degrading themselves with acts of violence and instead place their trust in the monarchy and state.

A recent poll conducted revealed that the public’s opinion on the government response to the riots is mixed.

49% said they supported the protests, while 42% did not support them, and 9% said they were indifferent. Another poll revealed that 78% of respondents said they did not agree with the government response, while 19% said they did agree, and 3% reported not feeling too strongly one way or another.

Nevertheless, with the near end of the Alesian Riots, the city can finally begin to recover and prosper once again.

Domestic: Ferry experinces catastrophe in the Bay of Trent
Dimitrios Drivas, Republican City of Milea

As the 8 a.m. Milea-Pyrgos Ferry made its final maneuvers across the Red Chanel from the city of Pyrgos to the city of Milea, the high-speed ferry slammed into Milea’s Coral Pier around 8:45 a.m. Friday.

Scores were left bloodied and writhing in agony as emergency crews rushed to the scene.

According to several witnesses, packed with 326 passengers and five crew members, the vessel tossed people like rag dolls as it slammed to a halt, flinging those aboard into the air and against walls, seats, and windows.

“I saw a lot of bleeding heads with white bandages (and) a lot of people strapped to boards,” said passerby Zoe Stamiadi.

“It felt like we were in a car crash,” said passenger Aris Kanas, who watched in horror as medical personnel began triage on at least 85 injured people.

Two were initially listed in critical condition as emergency crews rushed the wounded on stretchers to hospitals. But by Friday evening, authorities said only one person’s condition remained critical.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash. The Imperial Maritime Safety Committee deployed a team to the scene and planned to undertake their investigation on Saturday more fully.

As the vessel approached Coral Pier, witnesses said, unsuspecting commuters had gotten up from their seats and packed closer to the ferry exits and atop stairwells – a typical occurrence at the end of the ferry’s hour-long commute.

But the perches may have magnified the effects of the crash, as passengers careened down stairwells and against windows.

“We know that they hit the pier at a relatively high rate of speed,” said Coast Guard Capt. Alekos Sarriades, who estimated that the boat had been traveling at about 14 knots.

Alekos said the vessel seemed to be “going pretty fast for a boat that was supposed to be docking.”

After the crash, the front of the ship bore a large gash.

Thirty-one people were transported to Milea’s St. Mark Republican Hospital. Of those, all were considered non-critical and were expected to be released Tuesday.

Total damages are estimated to be around ₭5.5 million, or $741K.

Domestic: Kulung insurgency finished? Doubtful says DIS Director
Petros Kravaritis

A joint press conference yesterday evening by the Minister of the Interior and Director of the Doravan Inquisitorial Service spoke on the current Kulung Insurgency currently plaguing Doravo.

Imperial Minister Quintus Hirtius spoke on the Imperial Guard's recent advances to combat the insurgency and how he expects the conflict to cease by 2023.

Currently, the insurgency holds no territory or towns and has retreated deep into the mountains of northern Arcadia and southern Lynova.

He went on to say that reconnaissance photos have revealed the suspected encampment of the insurgents, with no comment on any planned action.

The consensus among most government leaders is that the group, known as the Kulung Freedom and Liberation Movement, is all but finished. And is of little threat to the empire.

However, DIS Director Heraclius Kontoz says he expects the group to continue fighting. And warns that the KLFM is still a very real and active security threat to the empire.

Her Highness has not commented on the group or its activities. However, he did express her grievances and sorrow after the 2020 November Bombings in the town of Nicamea, Lynova.

The Grand Princess of Lynova also expressed her condolences to all families affected.

The 2020 November Bombings were the last major incident by the KLFM, and the joint response by the Imperial Guard and Inquisitorial Service pushed the group deep into hiding.

It is our hope that the KLFM cease all violent actions towards Doravo and her people, and that the brave men and women of the Imperial Guard remain safe in their fight against these rabid terrorists.

International: Chancellor Caruso attacks Euranian dominionship over Arashtar bringing forth another round of Chancellor/Empress quarrels
Irini Mouchou, Rhodini, Kingdom of Arcadia

On a visit to the city of Rhodini, Chancellor Caruso held a rally outside the former Rhodini Assembly building, the same location the transfer of ownership of the Free City of Rhodini from Eurania to Doravo occurred.

During the rally, Caruso praised the city's current reductions of crime and poverty and congratulated the mayor on his public works and education policies.

Later on however, Caruso shifted his focus onto the Euranian overseas territory of Arashtar, a disputed territory claimed by Doravo but under the firm control of Eurania.

Caruso criticized Eurania’s current ownership of the territory and denounced Euranian rule over it claiming, “The Doravan archipelago and all its islands and territory belongs to Doravo. Any foreign claim to the land is unjust and has no merit.”

Her Highness Sofia III later made a statement on Caruso’s tone and blatant disregard of international relations later in the day, saying,
“Chancellor Caruso’s tone and his disregard of Doravo’s international relations brings shame to me. It is the monarch's role to represent Doravo on the international stage, and these remakes in no way represent my stance on Arashtar.”

These comments come as the latest of multiple incidents of the Chancellor and Empress diametrically opposing each other on a pivotal issue past Doravan governments have been united on.

This latest argument has again divided the nation on yet another issue when Doravo needs to stand united and strong.

“If the Chancellor and Empress continue to bicker and attack one another, how can they expect their people to come together?” says prominent political analyst Haris Zurlas.

The Imperial Senate has also brought forth the question of Chancellor/Monarchal relations.

The Chancellor is technically subservient to the monarch acting as their chief advisor and supporter. However, since the Chancellorship Enabling Act of 2018, spearheaded by Chancellor Caruso, the powers of the Chancellor have risen to rival the monarchs.

The Imperial Fascist and Royalist League of Doravo, the dominant party, has been divided on the issue as well, with the royalist faction throwing their support behind Empress Sofia III, while the fascist faction supporting the Chancellor.

However, the pacifistic and liberal attitude of Empress Sofia has caused even some of the hardline monarchists to oppose her in favour of her son, Crown Prince Leopold V.

“This issue threatens to divide our great empire,” says Deputy Chancellor and Senate Speaker Victoria Makros, “and must be resolved immediately.”

International: Doravan-Balnik relations closen as new trade deal signed during state visit amid a planned joint military drill
Alex Manakis

A “historic” trade deal was signed yesterday by the Balnik head of state Andre Chernobog and Doravan Empress Sofia III.

The deal set new tax, tariff, and investment policies with an emphasis on oil and energy products as well as agricultural products.

The deal was signed during the state visit of Empress Sofia III to Balnik amid the future bilateral military drill set for early February.

“Doravan and Balnik forces will take part in joint military exercises in northern Balnik early February”, the Doravan defense ministry announced Friday.

The “Faronna 2021” drills will deploy wheeled vehicles and light weaponry to be flown to the drill location on the islands by Doravo’s latest transport aircraft, the ministry said in a statement.

The exercises, running Feb. 1-5 will focus on defensive tactics, encirclement, and battlefield control and command, the ministry said.

The exercises have special meaning for Doravan-Balnik ties as the nations come closer together.

Since establishing a bilateral military and economic alliance three decades ago along with the associate state of Aprosia, Doravo and Balnik have cooperated increasingly closely on military matters and diplomacy. Our militaries regularly hold joint exercises and back each other on international issues like the occupation of the Faronna Islands by Balnik, which is wholly supported by Doravo.

Prime Minister O'Connor Announces Cabinet Picks

O'Connor Picks Cohen for Transportation, Nguyen for Foreign Affairs

This morning in a press release from the
Presidential Palace it was announced that O'Connor had chosen his picks for his 2021 cabinet. Notably among these picks, he chose Lawrence Cohen, the Majority Representative, and Nguyen, the Lieutenant Representative, as his Transportation Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister respectively. Commentators have noted that this may be a move for cross-partisan unity. Nguyen, a Conservative Party member, ran against O'Connor last December during the 2020 General Election. Joseph O'Connor's father and former Prime Minister Jackson O'Connor had also appointed Lawrence Cohen to his cabinet prior to the division of the Progressive and Liberty parties. However, Cohen's tenure in the elder O'Connor's cabinet was as the Minister of the Interior rather than the Transportation Minister.

Lieutenant Representative, Lee Nguyen

Some critics within the Liberty Party have questioned the Prime Minister's motivation in appointing high-ranking officials from the House of Commons to his staff. Some claim that the move was purely political and was intended to curry favor with the Conservative and Progressive parties. Others have commended the PM's actions, believing that Nguyen and Cohen are both highly qualified members of staff and would not only create unity in the House of Commons but would ensure that the cabinet wasn't filled with yes-men.

Lachenko now promises to get closer to other nations in case of breakup or war.

Speaking about elections there are 5 races in the senate and 8 in the house. For the 8 in the house 5 are for Buergen area, and 3 are for the Fatinz area. These will start in a week. Right now the Congress is based at the Trugla international center in Coslo. The construction of the new capitol will commence in about a month or so, taking 6 months.

Balniki troops preparing for joint exercise with Dovaro in the Faronna Islands

By: Jeremiah Vogel
KAPOLDER - Over the weekend, military forces from the Federation of Balnik and the Doravan Empire assembled in and around the still in dispute Faronna Islands, just off the east coast of Gael and straddled between Balnik and Roendavar, for what was described as "regularly held joint exercises" between the two nations. In accordance with the Cour Rouge-Rustov Agreements, signed in 2002, the United Republics of Dormill and Stiura and the Federation of Balnik agreed to reduce cross-border tensions by being more transparent about the general activities of their militaries, including exercises performed either alone or with international partners. This transparency had, in the past, taken the form of diplomatic missives being passed between each others' militaries some time before the exercises are set to begin or before any public announcement of their commencement. When the Doravan state media company Imperial News Network announced to the Isles of the upcoming February exercises with Balnik, there was an initial shock within the diplomatic sphere of Dormill and Stiura, followed by anger, with President Dyson going as far to say in a Friday Press Briefing:

The mere fact that this exercise was even considered within the disputed area of Faronna was a problem enough for us, but Balnik's refusal to send any advance notice to the United Republics in accordance to the peace is beyond shameful. This is in addition to the presence of Doravo, which is a clear and obvious escalation on the part of this so called "Iron Pact". Their involvement in Gaeltic affairs will not be remembered fondly by my government.

This comes on the heels of weeks of litigation between Roendavar and Balnik in the International Court of Justice, which remains ongoing. In response, President Dyson urged Congress in a letter to begin taking considerations as to dealing with Balnik and Doravo in the future, additionally making a call to the League to open a dialogue on the matter at their next session.

The Dispatch reached out to the governments of both Balnik and Doravo for comments but received no response at publication.

INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT - The Annual Western Isles Gala is one of the biggest events of the early year, marked by some of the best people, outfits, and music the Western Isles can offer. Hosted this year by King i Florin Celion Faunus Eleos Caenalren Iralethias in the Hall of World Peace and featuring all the pageantry natural to Roendavar, the Gala was nothing but beauty from dusk till dawn. Among the attendees were several high-ranking government officials including Segentovan Chief of State Pierre Delacroix, Deputy President Nora Soodalter of Almorea, and Estral Consul Zirilo Arsua alongside international celebrities and other members of high society. One of the biggest moments of the night was President Dyson's second public appearance alongside his new partner, Sylvia Vilar, who exited Griffon One with mirrored white and gold outfits, with Dyson in white and Vilar in pure gold. The pair have been together since last November and have been seen together in public sparingly in the final weeks of the election, with the first true showcase of their affection only coming when his election victory became clear in the early morning hours of 20 December. This marks the second time they are truly in public together after his 10 January inauguration.

TOULONT - Chief of the General Staff of the Unified National Defence Forces of French Charbagnia (FDNU), Renaud Léon, announced on Monday that the FDNU will begin a program seeking to replace the ad hoc equipment held by the ground forces with a true national stockpile. The program includes small arms, heavy weapons, vehicles such as trucks, APCs, and tanks, and even helicopters. At present, the FDNU has narrowed down a shortlist of competitors which includes Eagle Industries, Hunter Defense Systems, Verhun Defense Systems, and Redseed Manufactories. The program seeks to test all aspects of ground warfare and the ability for multiple systems to interface in a unified command and control scheme. Up until now, the FDNU has relied on equipment either taken from Federal forces during the 2018 Revolution, donations from the League and the ASRF, or those recovered from the ARRF invasion, none of which are presently compatible with the FDNU's plan to create a modern and efficient army. When reached for comments regarding a possible French Charbagnian Air Force or Navy, the Ministry of Defense responded:

At the moment, the core of our concerns and the majority of our resources are directed at refitting the Ground Forces. While we intend to develop Air and Naval forces, we have neither the time nor finances to invest in either while we still try to develop. Until such a time that we can, neither is relevant to our decision-making regarding the ongoing program.

Former Vice President Dindi Passes Away Following Resignation

Former Vice President Gabriel Dindi passed away early this morning after losing his short yet fierce battle with cancer. Despite their best efforts, doctors at Morgan Kosi National Hospital in Kessa pronounced him dead at 5:32 AM. He is survived by his two children Yasmin and Fabien, who were present at the hospital. Arrangements are being made to bury the former Vice President alongside his wife, who lost her own cancer battle four years ago.

Dindi's passing comes shortly after his resignation from the office of Vice President. Gabriel Dindi announced his official resignation one week ago citing his health, which was deteriorating rapidly. Although the VP initially had to be evacuated from a meeting and rushed to the hospital, it was believed that he would remain stable and possibly recover over time. However his condition took an abrupt turn for the worse overnight.

In response to his VP's resignation, President Maxime Zubele appointed (former) Parliamentary Chief of the Republic Amelie Lafrenz to the Office of the Vice President. Émile Mbombo has also taken over from Amelie Lafrenz, and will now serve as Martenyika's Parliamentary Chief. This reshuffling has sparked some controversy, however. Many of President Zubele's critics do not believe former PC Lafrenz is qualified, and instead think current Chief Minister of the Republic Adewale Chéreau is more capable of the transition to VP. Vice President Lafrenz is already taking on foreign affairs, attending the Gala at the International District in Dindi's stead. Chief Minister Chéreau has yet to weigh in on these recent political developments, although he has offered his condolences to Gabriel Dindi's family and children.

The insurgency in the Palo Territory is threatening to become a full scale civil war after multiple attacks have been reported in the last week. A bomb detonated at 11:39am, killing 15 people immediately, and leaving 20 people critically injured. 8 more people have died since, and 6 people are still fighting for life. The Western Isles Gala was held yesterday in the International District. Many nations sent delegates, from kings to ministers, and New Jacobland was no exception. New Jacobland League delegate Kevin McCarthy and Foreign Minister Rod Stevens attended the gala, and they took the opportunity to meet ssome other leaders. McCarthy said," It was great fun, I had some nice chats with some delegates and had a good time!"

Trigel sets up navy, Remodin government calms them down
Tuesday, February 2nd 2021
Image
Trigelian sailors gathering before they get on the ship.

By: Cartier Konshu
Over the past days, navy divisions from Trigel have been assembled around Remodin islands in protest of the terrorisms attacks. They also want to claim some disputed islands. Remodio never agreed to "Trigelian ships scouting their land." It could be an exercise, a protest, or a sign of battle. No one knows why they are doing this and what it could be for. The Trigelian government was even discussing breaking diplomatic ties with their neighbor. The Remodin government was not in support of this, and had their own say:

"This has totally crossed the line. No more of this!"

It looks like the next few weeks will be tight. For Remodio it seems as if they might litigate. In response to this, new Ministint Boris Lachenko said:

It is a fully protected right that you can protest and exercise your armies. And we are allowed to protest when there were terrorists in our country.

Remodio and Trigel are having a war of hatred. A step further, and it could turn in to actual war.

By: Keiven Latoinen
In the International District, during the Western Isles Gala, new members are arriving. One of them whom is Trigel Ministint Boris Lachenko. He arrived yesterday expecting to better explain the situation of the tensions between Trigel and Remodio. Since the Western Isles Gala is going on that meeting will be delayed till tomorrow. For the Western Isles Gala Ministint Lachenko was with his wife and other politicians party ready. Boris Lachenko as his opening line said, "Yes, there is a complicated politics situation. This is the time to let it out, relax. Time for the celebration!" He must have enjoyed his break because now he has much to do in politics.

By: Alberto Kanovski
For his first days in office Lachenko has already checked off his promises. He joined the Global Experimental Thermo-Nuclear Reactor Project, The Western Isles Climate Response Council, and the Western Isles Democratic Alliance. He has also communicated with other countries and connected airlines to various foreign and domestic airports. He recently started the program, Economic and Military Relationships (EMR). In his recent interview he said:

It is a lot we need to improve the country. But what we need to improve is where we are improving."

Looks like the president is happy with his changes and progression, but how will he deal with Remodin relations?

Sports Reminder: Tommorow is the start of the Isles Cup.

United Magarat open with 4-2 win over Insulalia

Image
The United Magarat team's 4-2-3-1 lineup

SEGENTOVA

The United Magarat team opened their first match in the Isles Cup with a 4-2 victory over Insulalia. Within three minutes into the game, Magarati attacking left-back Kaji Man Inwahang almost scored for his team but the attack was blocked by Insulan captain and goalkeeper Sleeve McDichael. Three more minutes later, the Magarati offense was successful in actually scoring a goal with midfielder Miraj Rajbansi's shot. Twenty-two minutes into the game, the Magaratis doubled their lead thanks to forward Firoz Suhang.

It initially seemed as though the Magaratis might dominate the field but after the 25th minute, the Insulans launched their counter-attack. Multiple Insulan shots on target were deflected by Magarati captain and goalkeeper Ankit Maharjan and a strong Magarati defense. On the 37th minute, the Insulans finally succeeded in converting their attacks into a goal due to Mike Truk's excellent footwork. And Truk struck again just eight minutes later to even the score exactly before the half-time.

The Magaratis entered the second half of the game determined to break the even score. Manager Milan Main seemed to have ordered his team to play a game of possession. Frustrated Insulan players resorted to rough tackles to win back the ball. Four different Insulan players were awarded yellow cards just five minutes into the second half. During these tense five minutes, Magarati left-wing midfielder Fau-doh Armaja was also given a yellow for roughly shoving Insulan goalkeeper McDichael.

On the 51st minute, Magarati defender Kabir Hangun was able to find an opportunity to score. He went for his brace on the 86th minute by taking the only Magarati free-kick of the game. With this opening victory, the United Magarat team now seats at the top of the table in Group C which includes Coille, Corindia and Dormill and Stiura besides Insulalia.

OIL SPILL NEAR GRAIG
As much as 40 tonnes of oil leaking into the Lowlands Bay

Image

GRAIG, The Lowlands, Westmoor, February 4th
Last night a tugboat struck an unused oil wellhead located off the coast of Graig. A geyser of oil has begun spilling from the now damaged wellhead. Though the geyser only covers an area about half the size of a football pitch, it is estimated that up to 40 tonnes of natural gas may leak into the bay and may even enter the Black Creek River. It is unclear yet how much oil has leaked and what long term effects it may have on the area's ecosystem. Crisis management teams have been deployed by the state and federal governments.

"It shouldn't be too bad," says Doctor Grace Wilkins, a professor of Environmental Sciences at Felton University in Graig. "Purely because there is so little oil located in Westmoor. This wellhead was primarily exploratory and the geyser will likely stop once the response team is deployed."

Others have expressed more distress over the incident. Sasha Wilson, head of the Labour Party, voiced her concerns to the Gazette.

"This is the kind of incident that you don't expect to happen here in Westmoor but I can't act surprised. Our administration has callously ignored the concerns and complaints of us who are more environmentally minded for years now and this is just another thing to add to the pile. We need to increase funding for our Environmental Research Department and need to recognize that any harm done by restrictions today will be far less harm than we'll face in the future."

This isn't the first environmental incident to receive the spotlight recently. Last November it was found that thousands of homes in the state of Bernow had water that was contaminated with various toxic chemicals that had run off from mines in the area. These chemicals included lead byproduct from silver mines and mercury from the processes used in gold mines. While some insist that new guidelines would damage the economy and cost countless jobs, many supporters of stricter guidelines point out that gold mining, the largest contributor to the contaminated water supplies, has been on a sharp decline for decades now and believe that guidelines would simply kill an already dead industry. It is unclear whether or not Prime Minister O'Connor will enforce new guidelines as his family owns the largest mining corporation in Westmoor.

WESTMOOR BEGINS SEASON WITH DEVASTATING 0-2 LOSS
Are the Golden Boys' Luck Running Out?

February 4th
The Serpens Land National Football Team beat Westmoor in an upset the Men's Champion Team never saw coming. Nicholaus Strong, the new head coach of the Men's Champion Team, stated last week that there was "absolutely no way that Westmoor'll lose to those muppets."

"They really are bad," Strong said in regards to the Serpens Land National Football Team. "The Mullers will show them why we're called the Bruisers."

Harry and Ben Muller have often been called the Golden Boys of Westmoorish football. Though they play on opposing teams domestically, the two are known for their aggressive playstyles when on the pitch together. Last year Ben Muller led the Westmoorish Men's Football League in goals scored, earning him and the Bernow Football Team the Black Creek Cup. However, this opening game for the Isles Cup was seemingly missing Ben's typical luck and post-game bravado as he failed to score a single goal against Serpens Land. This season does not bode well for Westmoor.

Tsumbia vel Kliig & Others Address Terrorist Attack in Trigel

Pruhimna Truum

Following the tragic attacks in Prizenaloki, Trigel, and the subsequent investigation revealing that one of the terrorists who participated was Remodin citizen Triiub Samaam, Rhumba Tsumbia vel Kliig, in the midst of campaigning for current Rhumba Braadi Griit Z'emnito in the upcoming general election, released the following statement:
"In spite of the harsh hostility we have received from Trigel officials, we promise to cooperate fully and have denounced the citizenship of Mr. Triiub Samaam, allowing this individual to be held accountable on Trigelian soil. We do not seek war, and refuse to participate. Our country has seen bloodshed, but we will no more. I empathize with the citizens of Trigel, more specifically those in Prizenaloki. I empathize for the congress members who have lost their lives, and their families. I empathize with the soul of Trigel."

Kliig also made it clear that the capital and largest city of Remodio, Ioodiisitie, is remaining on high alert for more potential terrorist attacks. He did not specify whether or not if he would help Trigel in rebuilding, but did not rule it out of the question. He emphasized the need to focus on Remodio first.

Other political figures, such as Tuurn Ropine, female senator of Dhakit, have spoken out against Trigel. She tweeted a day after the first attack, following a second one in the Trigel capital:

The disputed claim in question is whether or not Triiub Samaam has been punished under law; his whereabouts are currently unknown, however, according to Remodin airline records, he has not returned to the country.

Statisticians Say Glimpusmen is Helping Anti-Isolation Sentiment

Luuk Tihiima

Yes, that's right. One of the hottest new games in the Western Isles has even somehow made it's way into Remodio, peaking the curiosity of statisticians around the country. Glimpusmen, developed by Corindian game developer LoadLord Interactive, has grown rapidly throughout the Isles, peaking in countries such as aforementioned Corindia and New Jacobland. Now, the trend has reached Remodio, where retailers have been quick to capitalize on the release of new Glimpusmen merchandise.

The point of the game is to catch creatures known as "Glimpos" to fill up what is known as a "Glimpfolio". These creatures then battle it out, and after winning enough of these battles, or perhaps trading with a friend, they may go through a process known as "Reglimpifying". Pictured below are two Glimpos fighting, an Armee and Molehusk.

Image

Per a poll conducted by Tahalan Polls Institute, reports show that 62% of those from the ages of 10-18 have bought the game, while 44% of those from the ages of 18-30 have bought the game. Even some older folks are enjoying the game; 13% reported to have bought it as well. All of this data was collected in the month of January, the first month that the games hit stores in Remodio.

In an article from JCB Senator Huurim Jerthoa, he correlated this data with poll data asking if Remodio should leave isolation. Of those who answered in December, he pointed out, only 42% agreed. However, correlating with the release of Glimpusmen, that number skyrocketed to 67% in January. "A free market, especially globally, is what makes people happy, and I think LoadLord Interactive has proven that this month. Perhaps if we opened up more, we could see even more happier Remodins."

Much to the confusion of many, Rhumba Tsumbia vel Kliig spoke out heavily against the games and has even floated around the idea of banning them during one of his final 4 months in office. During a short press conference, Kliig stated that "these games are clearly against Remodin ideals and even potentially possess a national threat to our security; shame on Corindia for promoting such gross content." Many teens and young adults have criticized Kliig, and the few who have access to the Internet have not held back on creating memes mocking the current leader.

Government announces that it will seek membership of the G4

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it will pursue membership of the Gael Four within the next few weeks. The precise reason for membership, however, remains unclear. The Social Democratic government has dedicated no small amount of its post-election public appearances to the issue of establishing alliances and free trade with other nations. This policy has drawn the ire of the Communist Party and National Revolution Party, who have argued that the government should wait until after the upcoming Senate election before pursuing membership, but has received almost unanimous support from the Social Democratic Party, including backbenchers, as well as other liberal third parties such as the Democratic Party and the Movement for Justice.

While the stated intentions of membership are economic, cultural and closer political ties with the rest of the continent, this comes during the backdrop of increasing tensions between Roendavar, with the backing of other G4 members, and Balnik over Balnik’s recent invasion of the Faronna Islands, a move which has been condemned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Secretary of State for Gael, Barrett Layton, is expected to go to the Gael Four Commission headquarters in Arnton, Ainslie within the next week to argue the government’s case for membership.

Election Filling Begins

On Monday, election filling for the upcoming Senate Election began, with parties finalising their nominations for Senate seats. All of the top 5 dominant parties have announced that they will put up candidates in all 100 constituencies, while the Movement for Justice and Biaten People’s League have pledged to run in most, but not all constituencies, endorsing Democratic Party candidates in some more conservative constituencies. While some non-parliamentary parties have decided to put up candidates in around a couple dozen constituencies across Biaten, such as the Social Conservative Party whose leader is running for a staunchly conservative constituency in Auvia, many of them are quite localised in a certain area. It is unclear how many votes each small party would receive, but one thing is for certain: that every candidate will receive at least 5 votes, for that is the minimum required amount of signatures required to become a candidate in this election.

Bernow Teenager Arrested for Several Alleged Cybercrimes

Allegations Include the Hacking of Parliament Email Archives

On February 7th reports from the Ministry of Justice announced the raiding of the headquarters of popular Westmoorish internet forum Vox Populeaks, which has been the source of numerous leaked photos and documents relating to the private information of popular celebrities and politicians. The raid came after a now deleted user posted a text file of emails supposedly from President Mary Vanderberg's government email inbox. Although the validity of these emails is unclear, almost immediately following the leak the moderation team locked off user submissions and the homepage began displaying a text message stating that it was down for maintenance. The police raid led to a total of five arrests. It is Westmoorish Federal Police policy to release the names of all arrested adults along with their charges, which is how it has been discovered that one of the five individuals arrested is a juvenile. The juvenile's charges are among the most extensive of the group, with allegations of "Unauthorized Access of Digital Government Archives" and "Unlawful Computer Hacking", charges which could possibly lead to a maximum sentence of thirty-five years.

The juvenile's trial date has been set for February 14th, Valentine's Day. While the Ministry of Justice does release the identities of juvenile criminals after a guilty verdict, it is WMN3 policy to withhold the information.

Prime Minister O'Connor Announces Plans Regarding Free Trade and Transportation

"Reduced Tariffs and New Railways" says Prime Minister

In an exclusive press meeting in the Presidential Palace, Prime Minister O'Connor disclosed to WMN3 that his administration is beginning the process of proposing new legislature which would reduce tariffs across the board and allocate funding for new transportation contracts.

"My predecessor introduced a series of protectionist policies which hurt the isles more than they helped them," said O'Connor. O'Connor stated that under his administration there would be a return to free trade agreements and that transportation would once again be in the hands of the private sector. "When we nationalized transportation we forced an entire state to stagnate. My administration is stepping back. You're going to see reduced tariffs and new railways, I guarantee that."

Railway transportation in Westmoor has been under the government's control since the Right to Transport Act was signed in 2011 by previous Prime Minister Moses Benson. The Right to Transport Act was intended to provide free public transit to all Westmoorans but since the act was signed and railways were nationalized entire regions of the Highlands were cut off from the rail network. This devastated some agricultural areas as they had to rely on poorly maintained state roads for the transportation of goods. Supporters of the act believe that transportation simply needs to be funded better, with several Labour and Progressive Party politicians encouraging reallocation of military spending towards transportation.

United Magarat score another victory with 1-0 win against Dormill and Stiura

Image
The United Magarat team's 4-2-3-1 lineup

SEGENTOVA

The United Magarat team managed to grab another three points with their 1-0 victory over Dormill and Stiura on February 7 thanks to midfielder Hemant Rai's 69th minute goal.

The initial 15 were uneventful until Magarati forward Firoz Suhang decided to take a shot at the goal post and Doraltic goalkeeper Nolan Abney performed excellent save. The rest of the first half went on similar fashion with both sides failing to score thanks to brilliant saves from their goalkeepers and solid defenders on both sides.

The second half opened with the Doraltic team on the offense. But this also generated a string of fouls and multiple Doraltic players were shown the yellow card. The Magarati team was awarded a free-kick and Hemant Rai stepped in to take it. The stunning shot landed right into the Doraltic post and proved to be the decider of the match. Multiple attempts were made by both teams and the situation turned hostile as Magarati and Doraltic players started tackling each other. By the end of the match, the United Magarat team had performed 21 fouls while the Doraltic players made 25 fouls.

United Magarat's consecutive third win; 2-0 victory over Coille

Image
The United Magarat team's 4-2-3-1 lineup

SEGENTOVA

The United Magarat team now sit at the top of the Isles Cup Group C with their third consecutive victory. The team has not conceded any goals in its last two matches thanks to its solid defensive line of Kaji Man Iwahang, Kabir Hangun, Sabin Jimbuhang and Kulbir Tamang and the brilliant saves made by captain and goalkeeper Ankit Maharjan; a performance that manager Milan Main hopes to continue throughout the tournament.

Immediately after the match with Coille started, the Magarati team got into trouble with a yellow card for Magarati right-wing midfielder Kiran Yohimbang in the very 1st minute after he shoved Coillean striker Geo Christie.

On 8th minute, United Magarat's left-wing midfielder Fau-doh Armaja fired his shot into the goal post as Coillean goalkeeper Salvatore Willoby was unable to parry it. The Coilleans launched their counter-attack but they were unable to turn their multiple shots between the 21st and the 45th minutes into goals.

The second half started with Yohimbang redeeming himself for the yellow card he had received earlier. Two minutes into the second half, Yohimbang pounced in from a narrow angle to score his first goal in the tournament. The rest of the match had the Coillean players launching multiple offensives but they either went off target or were blocked by the solid Magarati defense and captain Maharjan.

Destruction in Prizenaloki not going unseen, A civil war sparks in Trigel

Kansco Patanoein

Around 1 and a half weeks ago, Prizenaloki was attacked by a Remodin terrorist. Fast forward, and today an estimated 58,000 marched the streets in a violent protest destroying buildings and killing anyone in their way. The Trigelian air force division based in Prizenaloki was activated and started bombing those who did not agree to go home. The city is half rubble half warzone right now, and it looks like a deadly civil war is going to start. President Boris Lachenko released a statement about this:

"Even though we have different beliefs, we need to unite and put aside our differences. Lets not focus on our differences, but our similarities."

Trigel is now asking Remodio for support. It is not known whether they will help or not, simply because of the insults the Trigelians repeatedly aimed at Remodio.

Boris Lachenko again had a word about this:

"Remodio, I know you are unsure about this, which I feel for. I am sorry for our insults and charges. But we will be stronger together. If we unite, side to side, it will be a peaceful world. So I order you to sign this paper in my hand, the Trig-Remdo peace treaty where we will both form peace, and help each other. Put aside the actions of the past, and create a better future.

Paton: That is great to hear, what do you plan on next match?
Coach: Well, just play like we keep doing, get a hold of the game instead of coming in late, I hope we keep playing well.

National Referendum on the Dicatorship, Kamerov Coup Crushed!

Vozhd Markeviç, recently returned from the Siege of Nový Litkov, has just announced that in two days, a referendum is to take place. This referendum is to determine whether or not to continue the dictatorship of the Gvārdyy Zelenzyy Revolutyonyy, and the various authoritarian policies that entail. Voting in this referendum is mandatory for all citizens of Mokov aged 16 and up, with failure to vote to result in a month of hard labor.

Vozhd Markeviç has released this statement, aimed at the League.

"You have tried your hardest to hinder Mokov's growth, and attempted to force us back into the oppression of the Tsars. That will never occur, and we will fight to prove it. You have demanded free and fair elections, and so, I give you one. How will you justify your anti-Mokovki stance once the people choose to maintain the revolution? You may claim that I have had the referendum rigged, and so, I invite you to oversee the vote. I have no innate hostility towards the League, but unless it shows that it is willing to respect the wishes of the Mokovi people, we will always have a conflict."

Debenham Hits Campaign Trail Early: “There is just one thing you can rely on”

Image

Leader of the Conservative Democratic Party, Garfield Debenham, has kicked off his party’s Senate election campaign early in a rally in Hachen. The Conservative Democratic Party is the first party to start their election campaign, as most parties do not start their campaigning until March. During the rally, Debenham outlined what party senators would do when they are elected, as well as condemning the government’s current actions.

“In this country of ours, I must tell you that there are only a few things which you can rely on. In fact, there is just one thing you can rely on. It isn’t the Government, it isn’t hope, it isn’t money and it isn’t business. The one thing you can rely on is the gift of family. God’s gift to us all is family, our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, the whole lot if it is God’s way of showing love does exist. Family provides security and stability which the Government does not. In our times of need it is the family we turn to, not Government. When we lack faith, we discover it in our families, not in Government. And if we ever, for a moment, forget our commitments, it is our family who reminds us of why we get up in the morning, it is not Government.

If we are to learn anything from the past few years, it is this. The Government cannot do good and should not be relied upon. We must take power and realise that we must take Government off the backs of the people. Put into simple terms, the Government should be the horse, and the people the rider. Government is merely an instrument of security and collection. We must not allow a radical Government with mass powers. We must not allow a big Government where the people are told what to do, how to do and when they should do it. Instead, let us create a Government that is in place to support families.

If you elect a Conservative Democratic Senate, we will move Government in a new direction. We will prevent the Government from interfering in your private life and preventing you from achieving high wealth. I stand before you to promote a policy of conservatism, respecting the individual and bringing Government out of social life. The Government cannot be trusted. Let us wake up to morning in Biaten.

How fortunate I have been throughout my life, I find it terribly sad the fruits of expansion cannot be tasted by all. We feel that there is reform to be had, and things to change. The Social Democrats have led a big government that looks to be your mother, but we must put a stop to that.

If you believe in family over Government, if you earnestly want work and opportunity, if you think that there is no future in empty promises, if you want change, then you have but one option: vote for the Conservative Democratic Party, for we are the only party you can rely on.”

Government announces change in military policy

Minister of Defence Cameron Ashworth has announced a change in military policy, announcing that the Government will, before the summer, pass a bill preventing members of the military from participating in political activity while on duty or in uniform. The Minister also announced a U-turn in spending policy, announcing that the Government will not make any further cuts in defence spending for the foreseeable future, and that it will order the construction of more ships for the navy, for which it currently only has 7, as well as further promote enlistment into the military through a military recruitment campaign.

The reason for this shift in policy remains unclear, although it is widely speculated that the Government is looking to protect the north-western Ipachi-dominated islands from any potential takeover by unfriendly nations, such as Balnik, as well as protect Biatenian cargo and transport ships from pirates. In recent months, there has been a rise in global tensions, with the Balniki invasion of the Faronna islands, the regime change in Mokov and the increase in piracy in the Mesder Sea, and so this new change in military policy could be out of fear of a potential attack or invasion.

TROUBLED SEAS: MINISTRY OF DEFENSE ANNOUNCES DEPLOYMENT OF WARSHIPS TO SAFE GUARD SHIPPING AS CRISIS IN TRIGEL CONTINUES

Image

With a third of Wachovia's international trade traveling along the eastern coast of Argus towards markets in the north of the continent, and Gael, concerns mount that the rise in Piracy experienced in the Western Seas could be replicated in the south.

OLDES BAY — Since its reformation in the late 1990s, after dissolution a decade earlier, the Maritime Defense Force of Wachovia has been restricted in its activity to constabulary and gendarmerie operations. This was the reality presented to naval planners in the mid-2000's who were tasked with the development and expansion of the force into a first-class fighting unit, the likes of which had not been seen in the south. With heavy investment into Wachovia's defense industries, studies by the Naval Academy, and contracts with both foreign and domestic arms manufacturers, Wachovia was able to accomplish in 20 years what could challenge the most advanced powers in the Isles for decades - one of the largest navies East-of-Argus (EoA). Critics of the Defense project have long stated concern that the development of an advanced defense apparatus would only embolden future leaders to take a more interventionist stance in international politics, which had long been considered anathema until the passage of a Constitutional Amendment opening the door for such back in December. Then, Prime Minister Brooks outlined his vision of Wachovia's place in the world as a "New Day", highlighting the nation's commitment to issues of climate change, economic justice, and a critique of regional institutions whose inability to respond to crisis has left millions vulnerable throughout the Isles.

Those words were as prolific as those of defense critiques - for as sure as the League was unable or unwilling to intervene in the Faronnes Islands, the Energy Crisis of Ainsle, and the ongoing crisis in Mokov - it is silent to the events occurring in Trigel, compelling Brooks to consider military action to uphold Wachovian interest and regional peace. The Prime Minister made his position clear on the floor of the Assembly yesterday evening in saying:

What the surge of tensions throughout the Isles proves, is that the League is but a tool of the elite concerned only with imposing its will upon the nations of the Isles, while being mute to the need of innocents. We cannot, and will not, allow the south to fall into chaos and disarray - opening the door for non-state actors to reign terror in a region known for its peace and tranquility.

The remarks were welcomed on the floor by a mix of applause and jeers, with furious yelling from the opposition who called the Prime Minister's remarks "Incendiary" at best and, "Foolishly Given" at worse. The Premier would go on to state Wachovia's commitment to quote;

Quash any threat to the security of the Southern Seas with prejudice.

To that end, questions about what that exactly meant were answered in the early hours of this morning when the Ministry of Defense announced the deployment of the warships from the Home Squadron to the northern Lotus Sea, south of Trigel. That force, the Ministry announced, would be tasked with protecting commercial shipping routes from potential acts of Piracy and deterring further aggression by rouge elements within Trigel. Comprised of three (3) Espere-class Sloops, led by the Wilmington-class Frigate WS Oaksum'it (F312), the Task Force would leave port tomorrow, February 16th, and arrive on station sometime on Wednesday, February 17th to begin operations. When asked whether or not Wachovia would consider direct intervention into Trigel to stabilize the country, the Prime Minister stated that Wachovia would;

[...] only be a stabilizing force in the region, and not risk further instability by engaging in fruitless foreign expeditions. However, we will do whatever necessary to protect Wachovian interest, the freedom of the seas, and justice for innocents.

Pending the deployment of a larger force if the crisis prompted, the Prime Minister made clear that the mission of the Task Force would focus on the protection of civil craft and not seek the initiation of hostilities with Trigel, or any other power except in acts of self-defense.

The United Magarat football team stayed on top of Group C with all 12 points after their 1 - 0 victory over Corindia on Tuesday; while also qualifying for the Top 16. Despite losing the match, the Corindi team also qualified for a spot in the Top 16.

Tuesday's match started with a yellow card for Magarati attacking midfielder Samir Gurung within the 2nd minute for performing a rough tackle on Corindi goalkeeper Patricio Rosales. The Corindi team was thus awarded an early free-kick but the opportunity was wasted.

The possession of the ball kept on switching between the two teams until Firoz Suhang dribbled past the Corindi defense and scored in an almost empty net. This is the Magarati forward's second goal of the tournament and he has been in excellent form this year unlike the past two years when he was unable to score a single goal in the Isles Cup and dubbed the "Toothless Striker" by angry fans. Suhang's inclusion in the team this year as well had generated quite a controversy but his performances on the field so far has silenced the nay-sayers.

The second half of the game was frustrating for the Corindi team. Corindi players rushed too much and missed plenty of wonderful opportunities. Magarati goalkeeper and captain Ankit Maharjan, with the help of the strong Magarati defensive wall, cleared several Corindi attacks.

Top 16

Of the 21 national men's football teams that participated in the 2021 Isles Cup, five are now eliminated from the tournament. These teams are Roendavar from Group A, Nurbaria from Group B, Dormill and Stiura from Group C and San Montagna and Doravo both from Group D.

The teams that qualified into the Top 16 are:

1. Alteran Republics (Group A 1st Place)
2. Aruia (Group A 2nd Place)
3. New Jacobland (Group A 3rd Place)
4. Essena (Group A 4th Place)
5. Hyukai (Group B 1st Place)
6. Trigel (Group B 2nd Place)
7. Segentova (Group B 3rd Place)
8. Reathwood (Group B 4th Place)
9. United Magarat (Group C 1st Place)
10. Corindia (Group C 2nd Place)
11. Insulalia (Group C 3rd Place)
12. Coille (Group C 4th Place)
13. Thromsa (Group D 1st Place)
14. Westmoor Isles (Group D 2nd Place)
15. Ainslie (Group D 3rd Place)
16. Serpens Land (Group D 4th Place)

Sitting at the top of the table in Group C, the United Magarat team will most likely play against Group D's 2nd placed Westmoor Isles. Having won all four matches they played and grabbed all possible 12 points, a feat only achieved by the Alteran team in the current tournament, the United Magarat team are one of the favorites to the win the Isles Cup this year; or at least what the Magarati fans believe will finally happen.

The Essenian Stags advance in the Western Isles Cup Tournament
By: Charles Baker

In a delightful surprise to the nation, the Essenian Stags have advanced in the Western Isles Cup Tournament; qualifying after beating the team from Roendavar 5 to 1. Having a record of 1 win and 3 losses the Stags were able to pull out a win when all seemed lost. Talking about the win over Roendavar, Coach Kelvin Illmer had this to say "We knew this last match was a make it or break it moment for us. After our third loss I told them in the back; we must win the next one! Frankly no other Essenian Stag team can say they advanced in this tournament to the round of sixteen. The next game we play think about the children, the fans at home in Essena and use that to pull out a win. And of course, we did. Yes, the journey is not over but it is one step towards the right direction." Team Captain Olano Rowe had this to say about winning his first match in the tournament "This feeling is the greatest I've felt. We pulled out a convincing win, 5 to 1. Its so crazy. The win feels so much better after the 3 losses we suffered but the hard work is not done and the team has a high momentum going into the next round. As team captain I hope to use that momentum to lead the Essenian Stags to victory!" As you can see high hopes for the Essenian Stags after their win. Though there journey is not over as they move on to the round of sixteen where the competition is even fiercer than before, the Essenian Stags spirits and momentum are up.
