Synopsis

It is the 31st Millennium and Humanity has spread across the stars! A million worlds forming the bastions of Humanity across the blackness of the void. A million suns bathing all manner of worlds and their inhabitants in their light. Unified under the rule of the Emperor of Mankind. For two hundred years the Emperor, joined by his Twenty Gene-Forged Primarchs and their Space Marine Legions, has waged the most monumental of Human endeavors! The Great Crusade has spread from Sol to the fringes of the Galaxy. Liberating, conquering, and discovering the numerous lost colonies after five millennia of darkness and superstition. Pushing back the blackness of the abyss and purging the Xenos from the rightful dominions of Mankind. Two centuries of progress, advancement, improvement, and construction of the greatest empire to span the Galaxy. And victory is at hand...

Image
The Ullanor Crusade broke the back of the largest Greenskin Empire and last significant bastion of Xenos resistance in the Galaxy. The Emperor, joined by four of his Primarch scions and their Legions, with millions of Imperial Army soldiers and thousands of vessels from the Imperial Armada fought a brutal campaign across the Ullanor Empire's territory. Scouring it clean of Ork life and there in the presence of many the Emperor announced that he would be leaving the Great Crusade. Returning to Terra to begin his next Great Project and leaving the progress of the Crusade in the hands of his Primarchs. Crowning one of which as Warmaster of the Imperium.

But all was not well...

Bitter rivalry, feuds that went back years if not decades, and maybe even the whispers of jealousy plagued the Primarchs. Siblings in all but name, the Primarchs share comradery and loathing for each other in variable measure. While, circling are the dark denizens of the Warp, seeking to undo all that the Emperor has created and sojourn the Galaxy to their ruinous whims...

Dramatis Personae
The Primarch
Name: Vasilisa Sanguina
Alias: The Golden Queen, The Angel of Solaria, The Emperor's Daughter, The Crimson Countess (by the less endearing)
Appearance:
(Image)
Archetype: The Witch-Hunter
Personality: Vasilisa could best be described as level headed. Quit and remote. Distant but not cold. Possessing, as her legionary officers and marines who meet her note, a peculiar sense of humour. Especially when in the company of her brothers. Vasilisa is an adept war leader and administrator. But does not seem overly eager for the former and dutiful if not entirely enthusiastic for the latter. No, Vasilisa is much more consumed with science and the recovery of technology and as such forges connections with the Mechanicum when able.
Backstory:

The Primarch that would become known as Vasilisa was scattered, like her brethren, about the Galaxy before the Emperor of Mankind could launch his epic Great Crusade. When the Ruinous Powers whisked the Primarchs away from the Emperor's underground gene laboratories hidden beneath the landmass of the Himalazian Mountains. Vasilisa, carried by the waves of the Empyrean, landed on the world of Solaria. To the Galactic West of Terra. Onto a beautifully dangerous world inhabited by the remnants of a space faring civilization from Humanity's dark age. The Solarians retaining the technology for space flight but primarily confined to their mountain cities. Having abandoned various locations and having lost the ability to resettle them in any meaningful way. This is largely due to the cities of Solaria being from the Dark Age of Technology and the technologies therein suffering catastrophic damage by the ravages of Old Night and time itself. The Solarians were a remnant until the coming of their Golden Queen. A name that is not literal so much as figurative. For under Vasilisa's guidance she reinvigorated the people of Solaria. Re-establishing trade with neighboring worlds, even annexing some, while promoting the arts and sciences on Solaria itself.

Eventually, the Emperor's expeditionary fleets arrived in the Solarian system, following rumor's by their neighbors of an expanding power. They were surprised to find one of the Emperor's lost progeny at the help. This surprise of course was not shared by the Emperor as he rushed to Solaria to reclaim his genetic offspring. Meeting in the Adamantine Palace on Solaria, behind closed doors, none quite knew what transpired between Father and Daughter. Only that when they emerged the Golden Queen took command of the 5th Legion and declared that Solaria was one with the Imperium of Mankind. That they had been reunited with their long lost homeworld of Terra and a golden age was coming.

However, all of this belies the darker side of this Primarch and her Legion's origins. The Emperor of Mankind had spliced his own genes into each of the Primarchs. Each a facet of Mankind and that of the Emperor, who was pinnacle of each of these aspects. In Vasilisa was the fearless drive to expel darkness and superstition. To combat that which stalked mankind from the shadows. The Mutant, the Witch, and Horrors from the Empyrean itself! Vasilisa was gifted with the facet of the Anathema. The power to expel the Warp and its entities. To combat them and walk through their sorcerous magic unscathed. But this comes with a price like many things. Vasilisa's unnatural beauty and grace is matched by elongated fangs, mirrored in that of her legionnaires, and eyes which will glow blood red with an aura of oblivion should she unleash her Pariah powers. This is matched by a small number of her Legionnaires who, in addition to sporting the odd psyker found in all Legions, uniquely had this gift as well when implanted with her gene-seed. Albeit to a weaker degree and with less control.

War Gear:

The Aetherial Crown
A silver crown possessing a a strong refractor shield and cloaking generator.

The Sword of the Szekely

A sword harkening to ancient rulers of Old Earth. A shimmering blood red blade seemingly stricken by electrical patterns in pulsating gold and silver that operates like a power weapon. The blade has managed to cut through ceramite and even tank armour with relative ease in the hands of the Primarch. Its hilt bears the eagle and thunderbolt of the Emperor matched with the fanged bat of her legions original background.

The Scarlet Glaive

A glaive possessing a scarlet blade and crimson handle. Emitting a purple flame when wielded and rumoured to be a psychic weapon harnessing the mind of its wielder.

Wings of Karpatha

White mechanical wings using archeotech repulsor technology to propel the user aloft. However, this clashes with the Primarch able to propel herself as evidence of silvery-golden wings tinged with blood red have been noted by various observers to manifest when the Primarch is engaged in battle and displaying her anathemic powers.

The Legion
Numeration: V (5th)
Primogenitor: Vasilisa Sanguina
Noteworthy Domains: The Realm of Valtmar (A collection of one hundred star systems centered around the planet of Solaria).
Solaria
The adoptive homeworld of Vasilisa and the Vth Legion. An advanced world dotted by old cities and the ruins of many others. A world wracked by fierce electrical storms but also cradling a rich biosphere of fauna and flora that have survived the harsh seasons.
Castillo de Solus
An ancient stronghold located in what was the Mesoamerican region of Old Earth. The Vth's Legion's official and original garrison fortress on Terra.

Hyperion Sextus
Located in the resource rich Hyperion system which serves as the main void based industrial base for the Vth Legion. Home to a Mechanicus Forgeworld and expansive geo-synchronous dockyards.

Combat Doctrine: Spearhead assault and surgical strikes.
Appearance:
Typical Legionary Colours(Image)
The main body of Legionnaires wear the Legion colors of Red, White, or Black. However, distinct specialist formations often have their own color schemes and aesthetics. Such as the Euthanatoi whom wear black and red color schemes. The Midnighters who beat a howling bat badge with white and red minor colors surrounded by a midnight blue seemingly wracked by a lightning storm pattern. Then of course the Athanatoi, the Deathless Ones, of the Primarch's bodyguard who wear purple and gold along with the insignia of the Aquila after the fashion of the Custodes. Allowed by this unit personally after intervening to protect the Emperor and Primarchs life early on in the Great Crusade.
Origins and History:

The 5th Legion's history begins on Terra. One of the original twenty space marine legions created by the Emperor of Mankind in his goal of conquering the galaxy. Reclaiming and liberating the worlds of mankind while pushing back the curtain of Old Night. To spread the flame of a nascent Imperium and rekindle the civilization of humanity across the stars. The 5th Legion originally was simply known as the Blood Lords and recruited from the Carpathian Hive Cities of Old Europa. The 5th Legion's earliest actions include the pacification of Luna and the wars in the outer reaches of the Sol System.

When the Great Crusade finally erupted out of the Sol System the 5th Legion, like the other Legions, led the massive Human offensive into the cosmos. Fighting alongside the other Legions in numerous campaigns until reuniting with their Primarch, the third to be rediscovered, on the world of Solaria. Located to the Galactic West of Terra.

The 5th Legion Primarch was discovered on the world of Solaria, Segmentum Solar, to the Galactic west of Terra. A world of beauty and terror. Wracked by fierce electrical storms and punishing seasons. The equatorial zones frequently sporting sweltering hot days before plummeting to below freezing at night during the Season of Flames. The human colonists however, for the most part, managed to survive in the remaining intact Dark Age of Technology cities. Maintaining and even replicating some of its technology. However, no functional STC or complete blueprint encyclopedia survived the calamity and chaos of Old Night.
The Solarians were space faring when the 25th Expeditionary Fleet arrived in the system. The two polities almost coming to blows until realization that the Golden Queen was none other than a Primarch. The Emperor wasting no time in making for Solaria. Arriving with all due haste to reclaim his long lost progeny. Becoming the first Primarch rediscovered by the Emperor in the early years of his Great Crusade.
What transpired between the Emperor and the Golden Queen could only be guessed. But after five days they emerged from the Adamantine Palace on Solaria with Vasilisa taking up the mantle of Primarch of the 5th Legion. The Legion arriving on Solaria in the following months to meet their new Master and take in fresh recruits from Solarian stock. Her XX chromosomal make up providing a stable gene seed to swell the Legions ranks. Further, it became apparent that a growing number of Solarian recruits sported Pariah and Psyker genes. Forming two cadres to mold these emerging specializations. The Legion's name was also changed to that of the Sun Angels. In reference to ancient Solarian myth.

The 5th Legion since then has fought numerous campaigns from the Rangdan Xenocides to the purging of the Greenskin empire of Zaradar to name a few. Fighting alongside the Steel Men and Heirophants in dozens of wars and battles in the name of the Emperor.

Then there is the darker history of the Legion. Its origins are laced with fabrication. For the 5th Legion was originally known as The Vapir Host. Originally recruited from Eastern European Terran populations and mutants, who would be turned into beautiful specimens of post-human grace upon successful implantation of the Legion's gene-seed mother's DNA. But their hallmarks remained. Beautiful fair to light olive flesh, fangs, and eyes that shifted with their emotions. Able to move swiftly in shadow with predatory stealth. The hunters of mutants, psyker-witches, and other horrors that the Emperor specifically tasked for them. A dark history best left unsaid to the masses of the Imperium. Thus, they became the Sun Angels and rebranded in a more glorious image.
Legion Organization and Structure:
The Legion is structured into a number of Great Company's and independent specialist stand alone formations operating in parallel.

Legion Command
Legion Command represents the top level of the 5ths command and control. Centered around Vasilisa and translating her wishes into orders. The Legion Command is actuality more or less a General Staff in functionality and not entirely made up of Astartes. Expeditionary Fleet officers and liaisons, other Imperial organization representatives, and individuals of Vasilisa's favour can be found in the Legion Command. Astartes of Lord Commander rank are found here alongside various other General level officers for Army formations attached to the 5th Legion. Operating in parallel is the Bloodsworn a group of 9 Legionary Officers of Astartes stock who take a special blood oath with Vasilisa and operate as her closest Astartes confidants and advisors. Many a battle plan has been changed or altered due to their words to their master. The Bloodsworn are demarcated by the Bat symbol of the old Blood Lord heritage along with the lightning bolt and eagle of the Imperium.

Beneath the Legionary Command and above the Great Companies is the Aetherial Council in a de jure but not de facto fashion. The Council oversees important internal Legionary support function and dealing with requisitions, supply, and dispositions. While also handling many of the administratively top level decision making processes for The Realm of Valtmar. This is mirrored by the shadowy Crimson Court which is an informal council handling clandestine affairs and effectively the Primarch's closest confidantes that best be not made public. Whether some also sit on the Aetherial Council is unknown and kept conflicting by the Primarch's own choice.

The Great Company's
De facto beneath the Legionary Command are the fifty Great Companies. Their full roster puts them each at 10,000 Marines and headed by a 'Vajda'. The Great Companies are designed to function as self contained formations allowing the Legion a flexible approach to warfare. They are strategic level and structured to allow modular swapping of entire marine units between them to augment specific engagements rapidly. The Vajda are assisted by the Boyar and Druzhina (the Vajda's second and third in command). The Druzhina serving as the heads of the various Tagmata. The Tagmata being the equivalent of Battalions of 500-2,000 marines.

Company
Beneath the Great Company's and more tactical Tagmata are the Company's. Made up of approximately 100 Marines and serving as battlefield tactical units. Each Company specializing in a particular form of warfare but over fifty percent of the Legion focuses on spearhead strikes and surgical warfare. The Company's are commanded by Captains who are in turn assisted by Sergeants and specialists.

Legion Command Hierarchy:
Vasilisa
Lord Commander
The Vajda
The Boyar
The Druzhina
Captain
Sergeant
Marine
Novitiate (Top level recruit rank that often is sent on combat missions)
Initiate (recruits deployed to assist in secondary duties)
Aspirant (raw recruit in training)
Specialist Formations:
(Image)
Athanatoi
The Primarch's bodyguards

(Image)
The Evocati
Marines who have shown exemplary skill and determination may opt to join the Evocati. Both an honour unit and a special forces units comprised of Marines capable of operating for potentially long durations alone without Legionary support. They are also quite capable in groups or in their own units. Evocati are tasked with operations deemed atypical of the 5th Legion's modus operandi.
Legion Wargear:
The Legion makes use of various Crusade Pattern and emerging Maximus pattern suits. Their wargear is very typical of Space Marines towards the end of the second century of the Crusade. However, they do retain a number of Volkite and Solarian Psi-energy weapons.

The Empyrael Centuriata

The Legion's Psyker cadre.

The Euthanatoi & Midnighters
Astartes that possess the emergent but recessive pariah gene found in Vasilisa's gene code. The Euthanatoi serve alongside their Legion on campaign and are at leat publicly known as a distinct unit. The Midnighters area clade of Marines left off all official records. Even beyond the already thorough blacklisting of other specialist branches log books. For their mission is to suppress problems arising from Imperial populations and, at least rumors among other Astartes whisper, other Primarchs and their Legions. For some less who view their most senior sibling to less esteem make no mistake in acknowledging that her task is to purge aberration. Even among her brethren.
Legion Vehicles:
Full canon legionary load outs.
Legion Fleet:

The flagship of the 5th Legion is the Gloriana-class vessel The Vengeful Spirit. The Legion Fleet itself is comprised of fifteen Battlebarges and 43 Strike Cruisers in operation by the start of the 31st Millennium. Supported by a few hundred escorts and scout vessels. This of course is reinforced by elements of the Imperialis Armada, Solar Auxilia, and Army attached to the Legions operational zones. Notably the 13th Expeditionary Fleet which sports 220 ships ranging from three battleships to several grand cruisers, over three dozen cruisers, numerous frigates and escorts, to the various bulk transports making up the logistical component of the Expeditionary forces.
Legion Relics:

The Encarmine Blades
Blades forged of special Adamantium and worked with ancient archeotech. Only a dozen blades are in the Legion's possession and are wielded by the Primarchs bodyguards or for honour duties.

The Banner Vermillion

A banner from the Legions founding and upon it the earlies inscription of the 5th Legions campaigns and laurels.

Spear of Arpad

A powerful weapon capable of plasma discharges the weapon is an archeotech weapon currently in the Legion's reliquary.

Rosarii Celestae

Special shielding devices above the normal Rosarii capabilities. Approximately 17 exist in the Legion's position and are often trusted to specific officers of import.

Panoplies of Solaria

Ancient suits of armour that only after intense Mechanicus scrutiny for orthodoxy. These suits, rare as they come, are relics from the Dark Age and possess various advanced technologies that Legion artificers of yet to fully replicate. Such advancements include improved sensoria, communication, more efficient energy production by its internal power plant, resealable membranes, and a mix of alloy not entirely dissimilar to the Auramite of Custodes armour.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Ravadiana Pegason
Alias: The Witch Queen, Medusa, The Lady of Styx
Appearance: Ravadiana
Archtype: The Psyker
Personality: Outwardly Ravadiana is a generally jovial and magnanimous individual. Inwardly however she sees herself as superior to most others.
Backstory: Deposited onto the world of Styx, Ravadiana was quickly taken by the cultists who ruled the hellish world. With her immense psyker abilities, the cultists quickly introduced Ravadiana to the study of the warp and the entities that resided there, including the cults brutal, cruel gods. With her natural skills, Ravadiana was a quick study, and was swiftly a master of the occult studies. As she grew older and her skills, both physical and mental, grew stronger and stronger, she quickly ascended the ranks of the cult.

She was one of the first Primarchs to reconnect with the Emperor in the warp, though it would be some time before there was a physical reunion. After a few years of 'speaking' with the Emperor through their psyker abilities, Ravadiana rallied her loyal followers and launched a brutal purge of the cults across Styx, purging their existence and taint from the world, even her own followers once the purge was done.

She set about ruling the world and preparing it to join the Imperium in the coming decades, once the Great Crusade reached them, ruthlessly and brutally purging any signs of the cult or its practices of worship of the warp or any of its denizens. As most of the normal population had lived as little more then fearful slaves of the cults, this was a welcomed development, and Ravadiana was seen as a brutal, but fair, ruler.

When the Emperor and the Great Crusade arrived, it was with grand ceremony. The Emperor and Ravadiana spent several weeks in private discussions. She assumed command of the Sixth Legion shortly after, transitioning it over time to become a rather small, but psyker heavy legion.

War Gear:

The Spear of Witches: An artifact force-spear specially crafted on order of Ravadiana, which helps anchor and amplify her warp abilities, making them even more potent then they are.

The Sword of Styx: An artifact master-crafted artifact power-sword that also acts as a force-weapon.

The Black Grimoires: A collection of large tomes of arcane knowledge, written in a secretive language. They remain with Ravadiana wherever she travels, locked and secured behind locks, both material and otherwise.

The Legion
Numeration: VI The Hierophants
Primogenitor: Ravadiana Pegason
Noteworthy Domains: Styx: The home-world of their Primarch, and now home to the Legion.
Combat Doctrine: Psychic warfare and small scale unit specialization
Appearance: The Legion colors are primarily white, or a slightly off-white, and red.
Origins and History: Formed on Terra like all their fellow Legions, the Sixth was a fairly average legion until several decades into the Great Crusade when Psyker powers began to manifest in a large percentage within the legion. This served to generally isolate the Legion from its fellow Legions. While the development of Psyker powers was seen as a boon, it came with its downsides as well. A horrible mutation began to develop like a plague, named the Flesh-Change, where the Psykers were horribly mutated into beasts. The information of this mutation was harshly suppressed by Lord Commander Zakareos Antrix. Even the Emperor seemed to not know how to combat this mutation, that or he deigned not to share it.

As a result of this, the commanders of the Sixth were hesitant to replace or expand their numbers as swiftly as other legions, and the legion became smaller and smaller as the Great Crusade continued. There was much rejoicing when they were reunited with their Primarch, and since then the Flesh-Change seems to have nearly vanished, with some legions no doubt wondering just how that came to be.

Since being united with their Primarch, the Psykers within the legion have only become stronger, many being trained individually at least to some degree by their Mistress. Their numbers have slowly started to increase once more under the direction of Ravadiana.

Legion Organization and Structure:Owing to the Legions small size, it is broken down into thirty Companies of roughly a thousand Astartes each, which can then be formed into Great Companies, comprising of ten companies.

The Legion has a 1 to 5 ratio of Astartes with Psyker abilities, and this has lead to the specialization of small scale squad tactics. Foregoing dedicated heavy weapons sections as well, the average ten Astartes squad is broken down to have two Psykers and also two Brothers with heavy weapons, allowing a further break down to fire-teams of one Psyker, one heavy weapon, and three regularly armed Brothers per fire-team.

Legion Command Hierarchy: Ravadiana Pegason
Lord Commander Zakareos Antrix
The Conclave, the collection of all the Companies Captains and distinguished members of the Legion. Members from the conclave will be voted into the position of Grand Captain, in the event of the formation of a Great Company.
Thirty Captains, each in command of a Company
Company Coven: Each Company has a designated Coven of the most accomplished Psykers of the Company. They act as advisors to the captain, as well as overseeing the training and well-being of the rest of the Psykers in the company. It is not uncommon for members of the Coven to be sought out for advice and counsel by non-Psyker Astartes as well, as they are often seen as trusted figures.
Lieutenant
Sergeant
Brother
Initiate
Prospect

Specialist Formations:The Grand Coven: The collection of the greatest Psykers in the Legion. When called together it is often with their Primarch along with them, and their actions are often secretive in nature unless they are called together during a campaign to face an enemy.

Covens: Each company has a Coven of the most accomplished and trusted Psykers, that act as advisors and guides to their commander as well as their Brothers

The Hunters: Unknown outside of the Legion, the Hunters are specifically tasked with hunting down and capturing or eliminating any who have suffered the Flesh-Change, which although now rather rare is still kept as a closely guarded secret. Due to the psyker-contagious nature of the Flesh-Change, the Hunters are comprised entirely of non-psykers.

Legion Wargear: The Sixth uses much of the standard equipment as other legions, though is noted as having a proportionally large reserve of Volkite weaponry, thanks to the decimation of their numbers through the Flesh-Change (Though that part is lesser known outside the Legion)

As the Legion with the most Psykers, the Sixth also has a large number of Force weapons, ranging from spears to hammers.

The Sixth seems to have a large number of heavy weapons, though this is mostly due to the lack of dedicated heavy weapons formations, and the heavy weapons being distributed down to the fire-team level.
Legion Vehicles: The Sixth uses the standard Legion vehicles
Legion Fleet: The Legions fleet is rather small, comprised of only one hundred ships, with the flagship being a Gloriana-class battleship.

The fleet also comprises three battleships, 10 battle-barges, two dozen strike-cruisers, a dozen regular cruisers, and the rest escort class ships.

Legion Relics:The Grimoires: Like their Primarchs personal collection of the Black Grimoires, the Sixth Legion also has its own collection of tomes and texts of arcane origin. These texts are secreted away to secure libraries within the Legions holdings, though most are sent back to Styx.

The Legion has a number of other relics secreted away.

Atlas

"It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it."

Name: Atlas Monomakh
Alias: the Baleful Eye, Monomakh, Palatine of the Ten
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Warrior-Philosopher
Personality: When among other Primarchs, Atlas musters his innate charisma to present himself as balanced, judicious, a friend, and mentor if needed, to all his brothers and sisters. As best he can he remains aloof from any feuds, and shirks off intended insults. This personality has not been honed out of a sense of comradery, or a particular love for his siblings, but instead from his shattered faith in the Emperor's mission. Having not learned the truth this would be his personality, in private he is more melancholy, viewing his siblings as nothing more than tools, like himself, pieces to be moved when the time is right. But Primarchs are not so easily manoeuvred into place, and so the act must go on.
Backstory: A pod dropped from the sky onto the frigid world of Stirios, delivered by the very powers that had stolen it from Terra. The child inside was rescued by humble factory workers, cogs in a now nameless kingdom. He was raised communally in a humble setting, though in a short time he grew larger than any man, earning the name Atlas after Stirios' greatest mountain. Though he had many offers from the monarch to lead his armies, his heart lay with the people. He overthrew the monarch and established a republic, though the popularity of his reforms soon saw him established as the Princeps of this new state. Within a short time he had conquered the other numerous warring kingdoms, before submitting to the Emperor when he arrived.

That is the official story, which some have doubted. Stirios is not particularly close to Terra, yet it is known that Atlas was one of the first Primarchs to be found. Many records about Stirios have been lost, and a few show signs of tampering. A few have conjectured that his Stirian accent is flawed, though others argue that influence from his time on Terra is the reason. Whatever the case, a few facts are known:

  • He was one of the first Primarchs to be re-united with the Emperor, though he was not the first.
  • Stirios was only united after Atlas' arrival
  • His pod was never recovered

Atlas spent some time on Terra after his reunification with the Emperor, studying new forms of warfare, the history of Terra, and the Emperor's vision for the future. What was to be the start of a grand new life became only a horror for Atlas as he discovered his eventual fate. Try as the Emperor might, not all secrets could be lost forever. Atlas discovered the true fate of the Thunder Warriors. From discussions with Malcador he was able to piece together what he considered the true visage of the Emperor. He did not hate the Emperor for what he would eventually do, and even agreed with his goal of uniting Mankind. No, he simply felt the sting of mortality, and he hated it.

From the moment he was reunited with his Legion, the 10th, he began his plotting to avert his and his siblings' fate. Over the first few decades he shifted his legion's recruitment to a multitude of worlds, cutting recruitment from Terra down to nothing. Then he began purging the Terrans by means of attrition, using their commitment to the Emperor to 'honour' them with the most dangerous roles. With the Terrans essentially eradicated, he began attempts to subtly shift the hero worship of the Emperor to a more benign admiration, and to staunchly instil the Imperial Truth, and a hatred for the new underground zealots who worshipped the Emperor. While others view his work on creating the Palatinate as a monument to the glory of the Imperium, Atlas intends for it to merely be a base to supply his future efforts against the Emperor.

The Triumph of Ullanor: a crowning achievement for the Emperor and the other Primarchs, a time of dread for Atlas. The Emperor leaving the Crusade has merely confirmed his worst fears, that the end approaches for him and his siblings. His plans are incomplete, time is running out, and he feels cornered and alone. Allies must be found, even if it means betraying his ideals, and all that he has stood for.

War Gear: Hand of Fate - A Power Fist with an Auxiliary Meltagun built into it
Aetos - Atlas' personal power axe, scaled for use by a Primarch
Caelum - Artificer power armour designed specifically for Atlas

Steel Men

"It was Men of Iron who led Mankind into the Long Night, it is fitting that Men of Steel shall help usher in a New Dawn"

Numeration: X (10th Legion)
Primogenitor: Atlas Monomakh
Noteworthy Domains: The Ten Worlds, also known as the Palatinate, of which Stirios is the capital.
Combat Doctrine: Originally a legion specialising in attrition and siege warfare, Atlas has since remoulded them to take a more balanced approach to warfare. He has sought to create a legion able to respond to any situation by utilising and mixing carefully tested stratagems and tactics. This has ironically created a mindset of inflexibility among his commanders, as they are reluctant to deviate from tried and tested plans and adapt to unfamiliar situations. Regardless, the ever-updated Verba Atlas contains several lifetimes worth of scenarios, strategies, and counter-strategies.
Appearance:
Image

Origins and History: As with the other legions, the 10th first saw action on Terra. They were usually deployed against the most fortified of cities, and in the harshest areas on Terra. Operating silently and emotionless in dull unpainted armour, they earned the moniker 'Men of Steel', as though they were the Men of Iron upgraded and returned to haunt humanity once more. Upon taking part in the Great Crusade, they were often reserved for siege and attritional warfare, though this was soon to change.

Their reunification with Atlas was initially a period of celebration, until the Terran officers found themselves quickly sidelined by a primarch who seemingly did not trust them. No Terrans were ever chosen for his bodyguard or for the Philoi, though their numbers soon wittled away before any conspiracy could form, and those Terrans who discarded their identity for a Palatine one found themselves welcomed into the brotherhood they had been excluded from.

The Stirian dialect became a dominant barracks lingua franca, with Stirian customs and traditions soon dominating. Traditions from the numerous worlds recruited from were selectively encouraged by Atlas. The legion became a highly diverse group, bound only by their oaths of brotherhood and their devotion to their primarch.

Disaster struck the legion, which had swelled to a vast size, during the Rangadan Xenocides. They were reduced to one-tenth their size, lost much of their fleet, including their flagship, and almost lost their primarch. They were saved by the intervention of the Emperor and several other legions in what was a catastrophic war for all involved. They retreated to Stirios to heal their wounds, though they have yet still to regain their former fighting strength, having since been overtaken.

It was during this period of healing that Atlas began creating the Palatinate of the Ten Worlds, which greatly aided in restoring the legion back to a fighting strength in good time, allowing them to return to the Great Crusade. With the Ullanor Campaign ended, and the Emperor having returned to Terra, some in the legion now wonder if the time of the Great Crusade slowly comes to a halt, and worry for their own future.

From last iteration:

Since the parade at Ullanor, Atlas returned to the Great Crusade. With Indrania and the Star Swords he made contact with the Interex, and by deceit forged a conflict to take the Anathame for himself. Afterwards he revealed his knowledge of the Thunder Warriors to his legion, and his plan to rebel against the Emperor, and began a small purge of those whose loyalty could be doubted. His search for allies caught the attention of ancient powers, and he was led to Colchis. There its high priest, Erebus, enlightened him about the Primordial Truth, and he now undergoes a pilgrimage in the warp to understand his destiny.

Legion Organisation and Structure: The largest unit of the legion is the Stratos, commanded by a Strategos. They are 12,000 strong, and there exist 33 of these, of which 31 are standard, and one and two half-strength are irregular. The regular, full-strength irregular (Zhataroi), and one of the half-strength irregular (Makhaira) strati are divided into 8 (irregular: 4) Taxeis, with a strength of 1500, and commanded by a Taxarch. The taxeis can be grouped into two sets of four, known as a Phalanx, commanded by a Phalangiarch. Each Taxeis is divided into six Speira, which number roughly 256, and are commanded by a Ouragos. The speira are divided into 16 Lochos, a squad of 16, commanded by a Lochagos, which on the field can be divided into two, with the second half commanded by a Deuros.

The other half-strength irregular stratos is known as the Hetaroi, and is Atlas' personal stratos, having no strategos. It is divided into 30 Ilai, numbering 200, each commanded by an Ilarch. The ilai are divided into 4 Hipparchies, commanded by a Hipparch, which are each divided into 5 Chiliarchies, each commanded by a Chiliarch. The Iliad chosen to personally accompany Atlas for a mission is referred to as the Agema.

Outside of these formal structures exist the three shields. These are the Khrusasparides (gold shields), Argyraspides (silver shields), and Chalkaspides. The latter two are awarded for reaching 75 and 25 years of service respectively, while the former is awarded for a particularly meritorious deed, or reaching 150 years of service.

The last structure is the Philoi, divided into the Protoi Philoi (First Friends) and Timomenoi Philoi (Honoured Friends). The Protoi are Atlas' personal bodyguard, numbering 30, who usually take to battle in Cataphractii Terminator gear. The Timomenoi also number 30, but form an advisory council, and are picked personally by Atlas from any rank, with tenure for life unless dismissed. Within the Timomenoi exist an unofficial grouping known humorously as the Ekhthroi (Enemies), who are the five closest companions and advisors to Atlas.
Legion Command Hierarchy:

Protoi Philoi

Legionary

Specialist Formations: Zhataroi - An irregular full-strength stratos with a unique colour scheme bearing a red flaming eye for heraldry. Those in training who show a particular aptitude for ferocity are sorted into the Zhataroi, where they are instilled with an intense loyalty towards Atlas. They are often deployed as shock troops, used to break the toughest lines, and when no mercy is to be given to the enemy.
Makhaira - The Destroyers of the 10th Legion, the Makhaira are significantly larger than most other legion's destroyer corps, but rarely see action due to the ominous nature of their weaponry. Thus they spend most of their time stockpiling their hazardous gear and simulating combat for the rare occasion their talents are needed.

Legion Wargear: Nothing out of the ordinary for a legion. I may revisit this later, though if I do I'll notify about any changes for checking.
Legion Vehicles: Again little out of the ordinary, other than the use of various Legio Cybernetica automata loaned by the Mechanicum for use by specially trained Techmarines. If I do revisit this I'll notify about any changes for checking.
Excindio - The 10th were gifted them by the Emperor, who felt it fitting for the Men of Steel to utilise the wretched remnants of the Men of Iron for humanity's gain.
Legion Fleet: The flagship of the 10th Legion is the Star of the Waning Summer, created after the destruction of the former flagship the Gordian Knot. The fleet numbers roughly 600 ships, with a fleet ratio of 1:5.
Legion Relics: I'll come back to these another time, and notify if any of them deserve checking.

"There is no greater terror than that of the unknown."

Name: Indrania Stratia Megasa
Alias: Warden of the Eastern Fringes, The Last Daughter, The Lost Primarch
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: The Explorer/Utilitarian
Personality: Indrania is a surprisingly nervous, jumpy and quiet individual for one otherwise so careful and methodical and extremely practical. She is not particularly well-adjusted to the company of others, and can often come across as standoffish. She believes that all of her fellow Primarchs look down upon her for her lack of achievements, having only been discovered in the closing stages of the Great Crusade and blame her for the I Legion's fall from grace during the Great Crusade. Indrania prefers to restrict herself to the logistical business of warfighting, feeling that her inexperience would be a detriment, leaving the conduct in the field to her legion's more experienced commanders even if she dislikes them and feels increasingly isolated.

Backstory: Indrania Stratia Megasa was the first Primarch created by the Emperor, and like the others, was scattered. Indrania's pod, however, seemingly missed the planet it was aimed at as it was spat out of the warp, colliding and embedding itself within the Space Hulk Gladium Stellae as it passed through realspace. Aboard the Gladium Stellae, Indrania's life was one of survival, constantly moving between different parts of the hulk so as to avoid disturbing the various xenos species that inhabited the hulk too much with her presence, as they were her primary source of sustenance on the hulk, supplemented with the meat of whatever carcasses Indrania could find.

The Gladium Stellae was, however, also a treasure trove of technology. Although not understanding any of the theory behind it, Indrania soon developed a keen, if limited to the more practical matters, understanding of the absolute mess of the space hulk's systems, which bridges controlled which part of which ships, and more importantly, the layout of the space hulk. Normally a futile thing to attempt due to space hulks being hard to impossible to penetrate with scanners, Indrania had nothing but time on her hands. Her mappings forced her to pass through the territory of many of the xenos species inhabiting the space hulk, favouring stealth over violence, and after several years getting a complete map of every last ship and small craft welded into the Gladium Stellae on a holographic projector she'd found, Indrania realised that there was a very conspicuous hole in the middle of the hulk, a void where the original ship that the Gladium Stellae had formed about would be. The problem was getting there. Over the course of years, Indrania mapped the area around the hole, using scavenged short-range auspexes and similar devices stolen from the xenos slaver-bands that used the vessel for transport or to hide on until she found a point of entry, an airlock that she forced open that led into the barrel of a cannon of some form.

Emerging into a gun deck and heading into the ship proper, Indrania soon found the purpose of the original Gladium Stellae, the millennia old identification beacon still working and broadcasting the name of the ship the rest of the hulk had formed around; a vast armoury hall, filled with all the paraphernalia of war of the Dark Age of Technology. Indrania took but two pistols from this vast collection of ancient weaponry, Decimator and Obliterator, and over the course of years cleared the Gladium Stellae of xenos, hunting them from the shadows and fighting off any borders with her pair of pistols. Eventually, the Gladium Stellae, which had travelled the length and breadth of the Eastern Fringes, was boarded by mysterious gold-armoured warriors. Reacting to them the same way that she would any other border, Indrania led them on a cat-and-mouse hunt throughout the ship until she was eventually caught. She was brought back to Terra before the Emperor, but did not spend much time there, instead being given command of the I Legion, the Imperial Heralds.

Renaming them to the Star Swords after the ship that had been her home for almost two centuries, Indrania found herself facing off against two centuries of extremely entrenched legion culture. Unable to make much headway, with her legion scattered across the Galaxy in search of glory to reclaim the early days of the Great Crusade, Indrania continued regardless, rounding her wayward legion back together and intending to make them into something better.
War Gear:
  • Decimator and Obliterator, Twinned Archeotech Nanite Pistols

The Star Swords

Numeration: I (1st Legion)

Primogenitor: Indrania Stratia Megasa

Noteworthy Domains: Beyond their fortress on Luna which serves as their base for recruitment within the Sol System as the Star Swords primarily recruits from the Sol System still, the Star Swords have no notable domains. Since Indrania's return they have broadened their recruitment pool to the dissatisfaction of many Terran veterans within the Legion.

Combat Doctrine: The I Legion is in a state of flux regarding doctrine as its old ways, used since the Unification Wars, collide with Indrania's own sense of how things should be. The old Imperial Heralds focused on tactical and strategic versatility and firepower, using their status as the I Legion and their vast quantities of plasma weaponry, on top of more esoteric and unusual weaponry granted to them by the Emperor personally including large quantities of phosphex, rad weaponry, stasis weaponry and other such ancient weapons to overcome any foe through a combination of versatility, superior firepower, tenacity and will, although by the present this way of warfare has become terribly distorted by the Host system, with each Host focusing on their own distinct, specialised style of warfare, the versatility of old being lost when viewing the legion in a microcosm.

Indrania, after realising the mess she had been put in charge of and seeking to reunite her legion, has attempted to reshape it according to the fighting style she learned aboard the Gladium Stellae, use of surprise and overwhelming firepower applied precisely before melting away after the objective has been achieved. This has met with mixed success at best, with those Hosts that espouse similar fighting styles, such as the Host of the Dagger and the Host of the Shrieking Winds enthusiastically modifying their tactical doctrine, while others such as the Host of Steel and the Host of Bone have actively stymied any attempts to change their battle-tested doctrines for their new Primarch, championed by the Legion Master Daias, an old Terran veteran.

Appearance: Here. Legion Symbol is a Silver Sword on a nine-pointed star.

Origins and History: The I Legion, then known as the Imperial Heralds, were the first Legion raised upon Terra during the Unification Wars, a prototype legion created to test the Legion concept. Because of this, each of their Hosts that they were formed into was prone to tactical experimentation upon the barren plains of Terra during the last period of the Unification Wars, leading initially to a doctrine of flexibility being embraced by the legion. Alongside the Custodes, they culled the Thunder Warriors, although few warriors among the I Legion yet live that were involved in their culling. The Imperial Heralds were the vanguard of the Great Crusade, being dispatched by the Emperor to the most horrific warzones without complaint and being issued weaponry accordingly, being granted a fleet of ancient warships by the Emperor himself after the Liberation of the Sol System.

The Legion Master of the I Legion stood as the Emperor's left hand, yet as the first Primarchs were rediscovered, the Imperial Heralds slowly began to fall out of favour. Their doctrine of adaptability and versatility began to stagnate as Hosts grew more distant from one another and campaigned alongside one another less and less, each Host naturally becoming more specialised in the form of warfare that the equipment available to them, the battlefields they fought on and the enemies they fought made them trend towards specialisation. As other Legions grew in size and prominence, and the Imperial Heralds yet remained without their Primarch, they stagnated yet further, veterans refusing to recruit from outside of Terra and each Host jealously guarding their tactics and doctrines from the others, becoming increasingly insular.

Even after a series of disastrous battles against Xenos on the northern edges of the modern Segmentum Solar, culminating in the death of the Legion Master Alcadia, who had led the Legion since it had first been created. The Hosts, forced back together rather than as their semi-independent units, were unable to choose a replacement as decades of suspicion of the others and arrogance in their own way of war manifested themselves. Malcador declared a new Legion Master, Varatia.

Varatia proved unable to unite the disparate Hosts of the Imperial Heralds and they scattered back across the Galaxy. The Legion was among the first involved in the Rangdan Xenocides as the Hosts gradually were drawn in to the conflict, each Host seeking to outdo the others and the other Legions involved in the conflict and prove their own superiority. The death of Legion Master Varatuia in the First Rangdan Xenocide, along with the strategic failure of the divided Hosts to cooperate, only worsened the divisions as each Host blamed the others for the failure. The I Legion suffered extremely heavy losses during the Rangdan Xenocides from its own disunity and insularity, and after the end of the Xenocides the Hosts once again split apart, returning to their expeditionary fleets.

As they moved closer and closer towards the Eastern Fringes and the very far edges of the Galaxy, many within the Heralds, despairing of the state of their Legion, hoped to find their Primarch, to inject new vitality and to reunite the legion, yet as the years dragged on and all the other Primarchs were recovered, hope faded from the Imperial Heralds, and many grew to simply accept the disunity and insularity both within the legion and without it. Rumours began to circulate that their Primarch had been found but had perished soon after, or had been killed long before they had been found, and some began to deny they had a Primarch at all.

Indrania's discovery was a shock to the Heralds. Renamed the Star Swords, many officers within the legion resented their new Primarch as she attempted to change the legion's doctrine, attempting to reverse two centuries of disunity, hubris and insularity with only mixed degrees of success, some Hosts wholeheartedly embracing their new Primarch with open arms as vindication of the superiority of their doctrines, others simply ignoring their Primarch's return. The rapid growth of recruitment as Indrania ended the legion solely recruiting from the Sol System caused only further resentment among those already against her, unifying behind the Legion Master, Avia, while those in support of her called it a much-needed reform to increase the legion's numbers to regain their former glory. Yet as the Great Crusade seemingly draws to a close, it appears like Indrania will have the chance for glory, and the Star Swords chance to redeem their reputation, stolen from them by time.

Legion Organization and Structure: The Star Swords, although many among them still call themselves the Imperial Heralds, are organised into 16 Hosts, as they have always been. Each Host claims to have mastered a particular way of warfare, and the Star Swords been described by some as being the Legio Astartes in miniature. However, two centuries of internal rivalries and divisions and the lack of authority of the Legion Master means that none of the Hosts entirely trusts any of the others, and their near-autonomous nature for much of the Great Crusade means Indrania has been struggling to reign them back in under her command to remake the I Legion.

Each of the 16 Hosts is split into ten Columns of 1,000, named after their commanding Lord Commander, with each Column being organised into two Battalions of 500 under a Knight Commander. Each Battalion is in turn split into five companies each under a Lance Commander, with each company having 5 squads of 20 Legionaries each led by a Commander, which can be infantry or tank crews. A single Column exists outside this structure in the form of the Praetoria Stella, making a total of 161,000 Legionaries.

Host of Destruction - destroyer, vortex, phosphex, rad weaponry (Old Guard)
Host of the Dagger - stealth, guerrilla warfare, small-scale raids (New Guard)
Host of the Winds - lightning strikes, hit and run warfare (New Guard)
Host of Steel - attritional armoured warfare (Old Guard)
Host of Bone - attritional infantry warfare (Old Guard)
Host of the Ether - void combat (New Guard)
Host of the Tarot - psykers, small unit tactics (New Guard)
Host of Executioners - terminators, decapitation strikes (New Guard)
Host of Iron - massed artillery and fortifications (Old Guard)
Host of Blood - massed melee infantry, terror tactics (Old Guard)
Host of Flame - urban warfare, melta/flamer weaponry (Old Guard)
Host of Lightning - fast-moving armoured warfare (New Guard)
Host of Shadows - recon, assassination, decapitation strikes (New Guard)
Host of Blades - heavy infantry, linebreaking (Old Guard)
Host of Shields - defensive warfare, counter-attacks (Old Guard)
Host of Birds - aerial warfare, air/space-to-ground assault (New Guard)

Legion Command Hierarchy:
Primarch
Legion Master
Master of the Host
Lord Commander
Knight Commander
Lance Commander
Legionary

Specialist Formations:
Host of Destruction: The Star Swords formation wielding its large quantity of destroyer weaponry, the Host of Destruction uniquely issues such weaponry among individual squads, rather than tightly concentrating it into destroyer squads to better spread the destructive potential of such weaponry across the battlefield.

Praetoria Stella: Indrania's personal unit of 1,000 space marines, raised solely from those taken into the Legion after her discovery. Equipped with Tartaros and Cataphractii Pattern Tactical Dreadnought Armour and the newest vehicles to be delivered by the Mechanicus despite their green status compared to the rest of the legion, the Praetoria Stella are loyal to Indrania personally and have wholeheartedly taken up her way of war.

Legion Wargear: In addition to a much higher than normal quantity of plasma, volkite and destroyer weaponry, the Star Swords have some more esoteric weaponry within their arsenal, including stasis grenades, bolter shells and bombs, nanyte blasters, and vortex weaponry. Such weaponry is normally jealously guarded by the Host that possesses it, however, and is normally restricted to experienced veterans within Hosts.

Legion Vehicles: Little beyond the normal, beyond a higher concentration of older models of vehicles.

Legion Fleet:
Gladium Stellae- Indrania's flagship, a vast, archeotech warship of unknown type and age, salvaged from the heart of the space hulk that once bore its name, equipped with a vast teleportarium capable of teleporting hundreds of Terminators at once to multiple, independently selected points. Although its full capabilities are largely unknown, the Gladium Stellae is believed to be capable of facing down at least one Gloriana-class Battleship
Gloriana-class Battleship Emperor's Wrath- Flagship of Legion Master Daias, leading the 19th Expeditionary Fleet.

In addition to these two capital ships, the Star Swords possess a further 76 Capital Class Ships and 139 Light Class Ships.

Legion Relics: The I Legion has a large number of weapons considered relics; however, these are weapons because of their history, rather than any superior capabilities to normal weapons of their type.[/b]

The Primarch
Name: Adalon Cyprus
Alias: The Reaper
Appearance:
Image

Personality: Adalon is a kind and warm man. He is one to invite anyone to the dinner table with him. But he is fiercely protective of the things that matter to him the most. He prefers to avoid conflict, having a mindset of never starting a fight but always being prepared to finish one. His time tending to cattle have given him a soft spot for non humans. He is willing to kill any xeno on sight, provided they are a threat. But innocent alien creatures, he would prefer to do no harm to.

This is him on the outside. On the inside Adalon is Calculating. Machinations run deep within him and those who are loyal to him. He never takes a step that he hasn't planned out hours in advance. Things rarely surprise him, and fewer things illicit a reaction when they do manage to catch him off guard. He has a plan for every occasion, and an occasion for every plan. as such he has a deep distrust of all psykers and their abilities.

Backstory: Raised on an agriworld, Adalon spent his formative years tilling and harvesting fields, tending to cattle, and being raised by a very loving couple. He out lived them by a decade before The emperor ever found him. Adalon never did anything flashy or noteworthy to draw in the Emperor's attention to him. Thus he was one of the last primarchs to be rediscovered. When the Emperor told him of his nature as a primarch and reunited him with his legion, Adalon was dismissive. It was one of the few times something had happened to Adalon that he wholly could not predict. It took him months to make his decision. He did not want to leave his home. He didn't want to leave the only life he had ever known. But Adalon's adoptive parents raised him to believe in the value of duty. So Adalon took leadership of his legion, and answered the Emperor's call.

War Gear:

Father's Scythe - A large and immeasurably sharp wheat scythe. The blade is a metal of unique composition, the make up of which was known only to Adalon's adoptive father. The blade is so sharp that it can cut through ceramite like butter. The handle was once made with a wood from his home world, but Adalon has since replaced it with a titanium staff, painted yellow and black to match his legions colors.

Cattle Prod - an electrified power maul. Built with a pressure sensor on the top of the maul. When depressed the maul discharges a large burst of electrical energy for a medium distance in all directions.

Rubber insulated power armor - Rubber lining and insulation within Adalon's power armor to not be affected by his power maul's discharge.

Dispatcher - Custom made belt fed heavy bolter with an ammo pack attached to Adalon's armor.

The Legion The Umbral Hornets
Numeration: XV (15th)
Primogenitor: Adalon
Combat Doctrine: Quick, precise, and decisive strikes. Preferring to harm none that need not be harmed.
Appearance: Forces where a deep golden yellow, with black trim on their armor. Specialist formations often have unique color palettes.

Origins and History:

The fifteenth legion is one often used in defensive assignments rather than offensive ones. Their strong and unbending nature making them an idea legion to call upon when Orks or some other race of Xenos threatens planets under the Imperium. And it is a task they have performed well since the first founding.

When Adalon was discovered The legion did not come under the command of their primarch for years. Between his reluctance to accept the duty as a primarch, and the legion completing their missions, defending multiple planets throughout the galaxy, their reunion was delayed for years.

When Adalon and the fifteenth legion finally did come together, Adalon accepted his legion as his family. Vowing to treat them all with the care and respect his adopted parents raised him with.

Legion Organisation and Structure: The legion is organized into five massive chapters of 15000 Astartes and Human marines, each separated into 15 batallions of 1000 marines each, and further segmented into marine companies of roughly 200 marines. As well as three stand alone specialist formations.

Chapter Commanders
Commanders are the highest ranking soldiers in the 20th legion. A Captain is only able to ascend to the rank of Commander after displaying a deep and wide breadth of knowledge in many subjects. Adalon values knowledge, and as such only the most intelligent Captains are ever even given the chance to test for the position. It is a test that requires the Marine to engage in an active fire fight, alone, against a company of Astartes while answering five thousand questions randomly selected by the Primarch. Should the marine get a single question wrong, or be defeated by the company, the marine is stripped of their Captain rank and demoted back to the rank of Marine.

Battalion Captain
Each Chapter of 15000 marines is organized into 15 Battalions, led by a Battalion Captain.

Sergeants rise to the rank of Captain much more easily that a Captain can rise to Commander. The role is gained simply through seniority of the position. Whomever has been a sergeant in the Battalion the longest is given the honor of being promoted to Captain, provided the Commander of the Chapter the Battalion is in does not object.

Company Sergeants
Sergeants are promoted from the rank of marine by their Battalion Captains for distinguished acts of honor, valor, and ability. Sergeants over see a company of roughly 200 marines, doling out more precise orders in the heat of battle to those fighting beside them.

Legion Command Hierarchy:

Primarch
Chapter Commander
Battalion Captain
Company Sergeant
Marine

Specialist Formations:

The Tillers
A powerful formation of marines in terminator armor. They are out fitted with the best weaponry the legion has to offer. Their role is to strike early on in battle, creating weak spots and openings for the rest of the legion to exploit. They attack full on dealing as much damage as they can until they are forced to retreat.

The Harvesters
Marines specially assigned to collect valuables, artifacts and any other useful items and materials from battle grounds. Adalon believe that waste is a contemptuous thing. He takes pride in collecting things from the battlefields. As such the Harvesters are not a group that is well armed. A simple bolter in hand and a sack in the other.

The Dust Giants
Adalon's personal guard. Outfitted in mostly black with light yellow fringe, power armor. These marines, trained by Adalon himself, wield power mauls and heavy flamers in defense of their primarch.

Legion Wargear:
Most Marines are outfitted with power gloves, Bolt pistols, plasma grenades and grenade launchers

Legion Vehicles:
Rhinos, Predator Destructors, drop pods, rams.

Legion Fleet:
Flagship - The Oasys, A 22km long Gloriana class battleship. Mounted on the sides of the vessel are a dozen plasma lances, 3 dozen standard lances, 20 torpedo tubes, numerous flak turrets, 30 missile tubes, and a belt of macro cannons. There are 12 front facing torpdeo tubes as well as two forward facing plasma lances. Turreted Macro Cannons run along the Dorsal spine of the ship. There are 4 Gravitron Pulsars as well as 60 Bombardment cannons undeslung. And an array of void shields.
50 Hunter destroyers, fitted with plasma torpedo tubes, five of which are Captained by a Chapter Commander, and equipped with Ion shields arrays.
50 Vanguard Mk.III Strike Cruisers fitted with Bombardment cannons, and macro cannons. Each with a void shield generator.
75 Firestorm Class Frigates, wielding a laser weapons battery and single prow mounted lance. each Frigate supporting a squadron of Cobra Class Destroyers that sport a weapons battery and tow forward facing torpedo tubes.
5 Battlebarges one for each chapter, with void shield arrays.

"Father's scythe" - as a proprietary metal of extreme strength, many would love to get their hands on the weapon to discover its composition. But as Adalon's adoptive father was the only one that new the recipe, and he has since passed, Adalon refuses to allow any harm to come to the blade. It is a treasure most special to him.

While the idea of a peace-loving Primarch is interesting, it doesn't really fit well with this RP which will be focusing on a civil war analogous to the Horus Heresy. It's also unlikely that the Emperor would tolerate such a Primarch and Legion, given the immense resources needed for both. He has plenty of able diplomats, his Legions are primarily designed for expansion of the Imperium at any cost, and the majority of the time through conflict.

If finished from its current form it cannot be accepted.

As a side note your link to bolter and chainsword doesn't work, might be worth uploading the image to a site like Imgur rather than trying to link it directly.

The Heralds of the Scale, IV Legion of the Imperium

Postby Acerbez » Tue Jan 26, 2021 6:44 pm

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Kortaez Aisa
Alias: The Bird Of Hermes, Son of Nyctasha, Harbinger of the Scale, The Curse of Solomon (derogatory context).
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Vigilante, Zealous, Perfectionist
Personality:
Kortaez Aisa much like many of his Primarch siblings is an anomaly of events, occurences, and circumstances melded into an unconventional collage of human psyche.

Kortaez is surprisingly rash and crude at times, unrepentant of damaged pride and openly critical of the contrived hypocrisy of his peers. Their meek attempts at soft hand tactics and diversions to appease the masses or their sycophantic whims meant to garner them some sort of favor within the Imperium. This disdain of so called 'mercy' stems from the ordained punishment destined for those who sought to rebel against the blessings and commandments brought onto them- Mercy was asking. In other moments, Kortaez is construct-like and silent, taciturn almost to the point of insult. Observant and reserved, going entire conversations with mere nods or even the slightest responses of acknowledgement. The Former becoming much more apparent than the latter as time passes, as time of reasoning has fleeted and force seems to be the 'stick to carrot'. The mask of criticism and animosity that Kortaez wore frequently was a defense mechanism to create waves and noise to crash against the ear piercing silence he experienced within his own conscious- weighing and measuring his siblings and the rest of the emperor's subjects to their actions that took place around him. A windowless habitat, Kortaez's mind echoed relentlessly with the notions and percieved subliminals delivered by vibe and action, not dictated by verbal communication. Their true natures and meaning.

The truth, of course, being much darker or abhorrent. His petitions openly ignored or shaken off by the emperor and failed to be taken seriously. For Kortaez is afflicted and stricken, cursed and followed by a spec of darkness. An evergrowing pool black ichor only witnessed by him it seems, that after years and years has begun to speak freely with its achozen 'host'. Whispering unto him, the abject disregard for rule of law, weakness over strength, right to rule, mercy over authority, the false prospects of respect and admonishment...

Respect and admonishment being qualities clearly displayed painstakingly false and erroneously gifted by and to those who only wish to glorify themselves for a chance of reward- like mangy dogs with golden leashes. Kortaez's true self without mask is a shambling man raging against the growing tide of nepotism, confused with the growing lies, and is growing evermore influenced by 1 that believes in nothing but breaking those that falsify their hubris and arrogance over law and authority. Steadily beginning to believe the second voice is his own, Kortaez is beginning to rebuke the golden trim of bureaucracy and believe in something else entirely.

Backstory:
Kortaez Aisa was found on the planet Nyctasha. Flung across the cosmos in the same mishap as his siblings. Nyctasha was a unique planet that experienced only 2 months of day light and the rest of a Terran year resulting in perpetual darkness. A frigid cold and industrious planet, Nyctasha was ruled by barons, warlords, and gangs. Fractured beyond progressive repair, as greed and ambition swallowed Nyctashan society. Its industry revolving around supplying its overseers with whatever asset would most benefit their current circumstance, the planet had suffered and receieved no quarter to its well being. Rivers were poisoned, the air was polluted, humanity was marginalized and last priority to the power games that ensued.

Crashing into the foundation of a small sector city of the planet, Kortaez penetrated deep within the crust, making a crater of whatever building once stood erect. Being awoken by the prod of barbed points and clanging of shackles, foolhardy slavers attempted to make due with their just reward. Rather, they left this world with their just deserts as a child artistically murdered it's would be captors with ease. Stringing their corpses around the crater before making an abrupt escape into the lower level openings left by the collision.

For a time, he was hunted by the tyrannical as a trophy until rumor turned myth. Making a legend of the monstrosity that lurked beneath the surface. It wasnt until the rise of a clan warlord, Akasha the eye, rose to prominence and instead took a different route altogether. Evoking the philosophy of justice into her tribe, accountability became paramount, and her subjects belief reached the ears of even the most down trodden, the darkest corners of the forsaken underdark. Until she herself sought out to find this monster. Her intent was to convince. By reason or by force, under pain of death. What instead happened was a profound exchange of thought, a deliberation of minds, the injection of philosophy into an untamed mind that was capable of comprehending even the most complex or unnatural phenomenon. The concepts of accountability, lawful conduct, just prosecution, order, punishment, and the most valuable tool at Akasha's disposal... 'Fear of punishment, fear of death'. Or fear itself in all its beautiful facets.

Kortaez convinced, in his youthfulness, believing to have truly found a purpose followed Akasha from the dark and into the day. Unbeknownst to himself and any other, a shard of his original abode of darkness. The windowless abode he made as his first home had followed him too, nestled somewhere on his soul as a small spec or impurity. Much like the Planet's year, day turned to night, and so did the era of Kortaez's newfound direction, as the planet's fractured society would be forced into cohesion.

Used as a valued instrument but treated as an equal, as were all subjects under Akasha the eye, Kortaez earned many names and titles. The nost prominent being "The curse of Solomon" due to the scripture tattooed down his left side of his face from forehead to just above the collar bone. This 'seal' said to give powers over evil- it's true history however, inferred necessary evil. While sent to wage war against a larger city state of Nyctasha, Kortaez far from his adored tutor, heard news of Akasha's death at the hands of an emissary of outworld, not of Nyctasha. Upon his return, Kortaez grieved and turned his anguish upon seeking out this murderer. Through subterfuge and investigation discovered that there was a plot from Calizar, the largest remaining baron of the planet, to weaken his opponent and attempt to have her lapdog wage war against an outworld host that came down from the skies.

Having left the clan in search of this alleged murderer. The philosophy and teachings of Akasha went unheeded as ambition and greed had overtaken the hearts of her own and they devoured one another. Creating a blackhole of everything Kortaez had fought for, he shouldered the burden of just persecution and judgement upon himself. Evading pursuit while exacting a terror campaign against the planet's entirety and bringing it to its knee's on his own accord for years. The planet fell to rule of terror, out of fear of being sought out by the harbinger for transgressions that ammounted to very little.

Finally, in its inevitability, the Emperor caught up to his child... Finding a contradiction to the stories told by Nyctasha's people, save for the unsavory desecration inked into his pale skin. The emperor challenged his son, not to combat, but to understanding. To heed the tenets Kortaez claimed to champion and to bring that sense of purpose to the greater universe. Creating an avenue that mimicked the very first deliberation and debate Kotaez experienced with Akasha. The 2 argued for an entired week without pause. Finally, enamoured with this proclaimed father and his ability to speak rationally and wisely, openly with conviction and what was percieved to be affection- Kotaez returned to the imperium after his protracted absence.

War Gear: Kortaez is equipped with mastercrafted Artificer armor that is specifically designed to work in conjunction of 3 of its unique additions. His helmet, akin to his legion's, maintains the similar white visage of fear that is some snarling canine or fowl with extentions at the ear.

Falconiae Pattern Jump Pack: A unique piece of archeotech, its design is clearly meant to grant the appearance of wings while its propulsion system is housed in its center. Its design is complex and intricate, testing the knowledge of the mechanicum as to its origins.

Naix & Iblis: A pair of unique Lightning Claws with which he has developed a murderous degree of skill. Each of these heavy gauntlet-like devices of uncertain origin combine barbed power blades and an inner maw fitted with underbite mechanised chainblades that make use of adamantium teeth. These gauntlets' pattern and manufacture are unknown to the Tech-priests of Mars. Mounted at the wrist section of both claws is housed chain fed combi-bolters.

Vulturis Talons: Worn over a pair of boots, giving their wielder the appearance of some eldritch raptor-beast. When an Astartes wearing them descends feet-first into the ranks of his prey, the Talons will clutch and rip, slicing and eviscerating all those too slow to evade. A heartbeat later, the crushing weight of their assailant will be brought to bear with sickening, spine-breaking impact. Sin eaters have replicated the design, albeit not nearly as sophisticated as Kortaez's. They have become a significant symbolism of the Scale companies.

Numeration: IV
Primogenitor: Kortaez Aisa
Noteworthy Domains:

Combat Doctrine: Stealth/Guerilla Tactics, Terror Tactics, Offensive Rushes/Blitzkrieg, deepstrike assault.
Appearance:
Image

Origins and History: Heralds of the scale are akin to all other legions, in regards to their inception on Terra. Their stock raised off the genome of Kortaez. Similar in appearance to their template primarch, their hair ranges from Black, grey, silver, or white. Due to a genetic mutation, the whites of their eyes are tinted a slight red while their retina is almost always dark brown if not borderline black. Their skin complexion is a very pale shade of beige. They're are slightly gaunt and oriented to the sharp end of the spectrum in appearance.

Before their reunion with their primarch, the 4th was tasked with both offensive thrusts into re-offending sectors that seemed to revert to unsavory or rebellious activities after reunification. Upon their arrival, Lex imperialis was often the first and only line of communicative exchange before punishment was dispensed almost indiscriminately. Often, a lack of enthusiastic piety for the imperium and emperor would result in extended stays by the Heralds, often leaving a planet drastically less populated but more in tune with the consequences of any form of sedition.

After their reunion with Kortaez, they underwent a form of inspection and were found 'wanting' by their leige. Deemed inefficient and lackluster by Kortaez's standards- one of 10 of his legionnaires were punished by their nine other peers under pain of death. An abhorrent practice viewed by his siblings, Kortaez convinced the emperor of this necessity as an acceptable punishment to the 4th legions supposed record of failure. This mandate however brought upon an unprecedented bond between the primarch and his legion. The lesson percieved that punishment was a token of equality afforded to all- even the judges and executioners. Fear was a by product of this edict and later a pillar within the 4th legions culture. A symbolic example, that displays of unbridled cruelty mixed with judgement would produce the most amicable and desired results of fealty and obedience.

Legion Organization and Structure:
The legion operates with Kotaez as it's paramount leader. Followed by his council of 3, an informal if not ceremonial designation created after the reunion with the 4th legion. It consists of his 3 most trusted officers. Beneath them in equal rank save for their informal titles are the Arbiter-Viziers, commanders in charge of 10,000 strong war hosts. The triumvirate maintains control of their subordinate Arbiter-Viziers in typical fashion. Beneath them are Arbiters of the scale who maintain command of 5000 legionnaires. Lord-Intercessors command companies, referred to as scales, that number in the range of 1000. Scale commanders oversee 500 and Adjucators over wings of 100. Typical ranks encompass the remaining ranks down to the legionnaire.

A fundamental trait within the 4th is the roles that Lord-Intercessors play. Functionally akin to Chaplain, they are regarded with zealous respect and serve as internal inquisitors and reinforce the views and beliefs of their beloved primarch. Their rank ceremoniously affords them a large degree of authority and instances of conflict between them and Arbiters of the scale often result in the Intercessor's judgement and decree heeded over the former. This is largely due to Kortaez's belief in micro managing his legion and corresponding with the Lord Intercessors directly. Their office often means they will not rise further in rank due to their role and places less emphasis on their management of strategy and planning and moreso on internal policing and reinforcement of the tenents of the 4th legion. Making Arbiters of the scale closer to being de facto generals of the various Scale companies.

Legion Command Hierarchy:
Primarch Kotaez Aisa
The Triumvirate
Arbiter-Vizier
Arbiter of the Scale
Lord-Intercessor
Scale Commander
Adjucator
Legionnaire

Specialist Formations:
Aeterna Lex: This special formation refers to the Kyrannus pattern sub-pattern dreanoughts that reside within the various Scale companies of the 4th legion. Their design incorporates aspects of the mechanicum cult that resides on the planet of its name-sake origin. Equipped with the external Incaendius Booster Pack secured to its back. This volatile, single-burn magneto-plasma engine was powerful enough to decelerate the Dreadnought in a fall from low orbit or to propel it in a shallow leap at significant velocity despite the bulk of its armour and ceramite endoskeleton. Their armory is usually purely close combat oriented but has been exchanged depending on necessity.

Sin Eaters: Denoted by rank, Sin Eaters are jump assault combat specialists that make up one of the most elite and preferable positions within the scale companies. They operate significantly more independant than their comrades and act as an elite vanguard unit of their Scale companies, partaking in many forward operations, they are a fundamental instrument in causing discord among enemy formations and ideal saboteurs that take pride in terror and mayhem. Their hit and run capabilities are honed to perfection and make up a rather large portion of the elite formations of the 4th legion. Theyre equipped with talon like lightning claws that go over their power armor boots that afford them a terrifying bird like appearance in tandem with their jump pack load out. Chain glaives are a favoured weapon, however given their disposition, they often are seen with combinations of melta weaponry and chain sword, or dual lighting claw load outs.

Legion Wargear: The 4th legion makes extensive use of jump assault troops, but for the most part maintain a diverse load out in akin to other legions. However they have a preference to Melta/flamer special weapons when it comes to 'ranged weaponry' designations. Close quarter combat is a favored tactic of the 4th, so generally speaking, long range support is largely left to the few heavy weapon teams or armored components of the 4th. However, the 4th is notably pre-dispositioned to the astute effects of controlled artillery and incendiary bombardment.

Legion Vehicles: The 4th legions preference resides with most of the lighter, faster, and heavier hitting vehicles as opposed to the large and slower vehicle platforms.
Legion Fleet:
The legion fleet consists of 6 seperate 'Wings' or armada. 20 capitol class battle barge starships and 180 strike cruiser starships, and 300 escort starships.

Included into the fleet's overall composition is the massive Phalanx class starship, which in reality functions as a mobile fortress Monastery for the 4th legion. The massive planetoid like ship has been ordained as the 4th legion's headquarters and flagship vessel, referred to as Atrophos.

Legion Relics:

The Sanctum of Atrophos: The massive starship that serves as the mobile fortress-monastery of the Herald's of the Scale legion was constructed many millennia ago by unknown hands during the Dark Age of Technology long before the Age of the Imperium. Atrophos itself is gigantic, the largest starship known to have been constructed by Human hands, and something of its magnitude has not been seen since the Age of Technology. The size of a small moon or large asteroid, its foredeck can dock a dozen Imperial Navy cruisers around its circumference.

The vessel is essentially a hive city in space, with its great spires reaching towards the stars, giving it the appearance of a giant mace-head. In many ways, The Phalanx class is the only vessel ever built by Mankind that comes close in size and complexity to that of the Aeldari's craftworlds. Atrophos is so large that it reflects light like the stars themselves. The vast starship is completely mobile and capable of travel through the Warp and often follows the 4th legion they stalk throughout the galaxy.

Phalanx is essentially a mobile, pre-Imperial battle station that is seemingly replacing the 4th legion's homeworld of Nyctasha and their foremost warship. In form and scale, it is nearer a planetoid than a conventional vessel; it is a mighty cathedral of war that dwarfs the largest Battle Barge, and wields the firepower of a formidable fleet. Many kilometers long, triangular in cross-section with its upper surface bristling with weapons and sensorium domes. Two wings swept back from the hull, trailing directional vanes like long gilded feathers. Every surface is clad in solid armour plating and every angle is covered by more torpedo tubes and lance batteries than any Imperial battleship can muster. Forebodingly it is hoisting an alarming rate of thousands of 'battle-honours' and campaign markings, increasingly more grisly than the previous, all over its beak-like prow.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Brelo Viake
Alias: The Slave King, The Trickster, Hortator
Appearance: Brelo || armor
Archetype: Infiltrator
Personality: Having made his name in the cutthroat court of the now-deposed Tyrant Bahram, Brelo is a wily opportunists who excels at political misdirection and negotiation. Consequently, most of Brelo's fellow Primarchs see him as a schemer and plotter who generally cannot be trusted; whether this is because Brelo is truly prepared to engage in backstabbing and betrayal or whether he simply wishes to cultivate an image of unpredictability is part of his mystique. It is always a difficult endeavor to earn his trust and vice versa, but Brelo treats his small circle of close friends like brothers, demonstrating an openness and generosity that he usually reserves only for his troops. In general, he has no love of war, seeing it primarily as an unpleasant job that needs doing. The ebb and flow of politics, however, gives him a thrill like nothing else.

Backstory: After being scattered to the Immaterium, Brelo's pod landed on the mountainous world of Istakhr, a warlike planet dominated by a patchwork of feudal kingdoms and despotic empires. His freakish growth and great strength astounded the native Istakhri and caught the attention of Bahram the Great, Tyrant of Bishapur, who took the boy as his personal slave.

As Brelo grew rapidly to maturity, he received a crash-course in war and statecraft, fighting Bahram's external enemies and contending with the king's internal rivals at court. One such rival was Narseh, the Crown Prince, whom the Tyrant compelled Brelo to slay in a duel out of misguided paranoia. Brelo took the son's place as price, finding himself in the contradictory position of both imperial heir and slave-soldier. His conquests continued for a number of years until the Empire of Bishapur encompassed nearly the whole of Istakhr. When Brelo grew tired of war and requested his freedom from Bahram, the Tyrant refused him. Brelo slew him and tossed the king's decapitated head down the steps of the Great Ziggurat.

Brelo did not crown himself Tyrant, but rather took the title of Hortator, an Istakhri word meaning 'war-leader.' His first edict was to free the millions of slaves who languished in various degrees of servitude across Istakhr, thus forming a loyal power base and a personal army of freemen who would follow him anywhere.

Not long after, Imperial forces made contact with the world and Brelo was reunited with the Emperor, who restored him to his legion, the 12th. Having been one of the more obscure of the original 20 Astartes legions, under Brelo's leadership the 12th made a name for itself in the 200-year campaigns of the Great Crusade, bringing hundreds of worlds under the Emperor's enlightened rule. Seven of these worlds in the vicinity of Istakhr, along with his homeworld itself, were placed under Brelo's personal administration, forming the Stratocracy of Istakhr, the military state-within-a-state that forms his personal power base.

Under the tutelage of the Emperor, Brelo learned to commune with the warp. His abilities manifested primarily in the arts of stealth and misdirection rather than brute strength or firepower. In combat, he excels at remaining unseen and striking from nowhere, or confounding the enemy's senses when he is out in the open. He has molded the 12th's combat doctrine accordingly.

War Gear: Vardanes- An eight-foot force-spear imbued with the soul of a long-dead Istakhri warrior. This is Brelo's primary weapon, and serves to reinforce and augment his warp powers.

Boots of the Phantom: The most potent portion of Brelo's power armor, these sorcerous boots not only greatly strengthen the wearer's speed and agility, but also commune with Brelo's psykic powers to project images of him where he is not, or to render him invisible for short periods, or otherwise confuse the enemy with diverse sights, sounds, smells - and, it is rumored, memories of their past.

The Legion
Numeration: XII (12th) 'The Indomitables'
Primogenitor: Brelo Viake
Noteworthy Domains: The eight worlds of the Stratocracy, of which Istakhr is the capital and headquarters of the legion. Recruitment from the peoples of the Stratocracy was once limited, but has increased over the course of the Great Crusade so that a large majority of the 12th's recruits are now drawn from that region of space.

Combat Doctrine: The 12th has always served the Emperor primarily as light infantry, a tradition which Brelo has deepened to the extent that now the Indomitables function quite differently from most other legions. They possess few heavy vehicles, as these would impede their preferred doctrine of infiltration. Legionaries of the 12th are typically deployed in smaller, company-sized detachments for the purpose of carrying out reconnaissance, counter-insurgency, raids, ambushes, and other direct action. 12th Legion units are trained to operate for long periods without assistance or direction from other Imperial forces or even from the rest of the legion. They are often the very first deployed on hostile worlds to prepare the way for much larger landings, using their mastery of remote mountain and desert terrain to create friendly insurgencies against enemy forces wherever possible.

Appearance: (Please put image in spoilers)
Origins and History:

Legion Organization and Structure: The 12th is organized along the lines of eighteen tumens, each of which are about 10,000 strong. Sixteen of these are the standard 'Ranger' configuration, while one tumen is reserved for Brelo's personal bodyguard and one for top-secret 'deep' operations, which takes the Indomitables' doctrine of infiltration and decentralized warfare to a frightening extreme. Each of the tumens are led by a Spahbed, who report directly to Brelo.

Each Spahbed's tumen is subdivided into five regiments of 2,000 legionaries under the command of a Sarhang, more or less equivalent to a colonel. Below the regiment are between ten and twenty companies of 100-200 legionaries, each under a captain. Companies are comprised of ten-man squads and five-man fireteams, under sergeants and corporals respectively. Noticeably, the 12th lacks any formation at the battalion or platoon level; a direct consequence of the legion's doctrine of dispersal and ambush. Platoon units are judged to be too unwieldly and noticeable for this form of warfare, giving wide latitude to the leadership of squad sergeants as to how they wish to wage their "thousand tiny wars" as the Primarch has put it. Forces of the 12th rarely if ever unite above the regiment level before their final assault.

Legion Command Hierarchy:
Primarch
Legion Master - Antoine Roederer
Spahbed
Sarhang
Captain
Savar - Regarded as either the most junior of officers or the most senior enlisted men, the Savars are usually 3-5 to a company and serve as middlemen between the sergeants and the captain. The captain may delegate a Savar to take command of multiple squads.
Sergeant
Corporal
Legionary

Specialist Formations: Hoplites- Only one of the 12th's eighteen tumens are dedicated heavy infantry, and these are the Hoplites. Ferocious shock troops, they are typically deployed at the crescendo of a final assault to help break the enemy line, but lack the wilderness training or stealth capabilities of the 'ranger' Marines.

Immortals- The 18th and last tumen serve as Brelo Viake's personal bodyguard, should he take the field personally. The 10,000 Marines are split about evenly between Hoplite and Ranger style Marines, so that Brelo can either launch a frontal assault or attack by the 12th's traditional means of hit-and-run.

Legion Wargear: Quite standard for an Astartes legion, though with a somewhat lower preponderance of heavy weapons and a higher proportion of melee weapons and rifles, especially sniper rifles.
Legion Vehicles: Unique among Astartes legions, the 12th is almost completely devoid of heavy tanks and large artillery, save for the Hoplites who serve a more conventional function. The 12th's motor pool almost entirely consists of scout bikes, Invader ATVs, and various landspeeder variants. This maximizes the legion's mobility and quick-strike capability.
Legion Fleet: The legion's flagship is the venerable Gloriana-class battleship Shahanshah, which has seen heavy combat throughout the Great Crusade. In total the 12th's fleet number about 300 ships, including 7 battle-barges, 21 strike cruisers, and various frigates, corvettes and support ships.

The Primarch
Name: Aleksandr Zorkastanov

Alias: Chasovoy (Sentinel) of Gentium, Herald of Equilibrium, Premier of the Seven Stars

Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Orderly, Just, Learned

Personality: Aleksandr was always one to ensure equality in everything done, no form of going over too far from one aspect in both life and the legion granted to him by the Emperor. While he is one of the more studious ones among his fellow Primarchs, he is no slouch in a fight, preferring to either end things quickly with one strike, or to solve things diplomatically first, earning the ire of some of his more combat oriented siblings but giving a better image to the Imperium to the people.

Backstory: One of the 20 Primarchs made to unify the lost remnants of humanity, Aleksandr was also jettisoned Into the warp and landed on a planet that was habitable with signs of advanced civilization. It was lucky that he had landed on the planet of Gentium, a planet whose human populace had just begun their expansion into interplanetary colonization, and had survived Old Night, or as the locals had called it, the Great Static, relatively fine and intact. He was found by a military convoy on it's way for redeployment. Instantly the child that fell from the stars became the talk of the whole seven systems. The pod he arrived in would be studied for now, but the seemingly normal child was simply put up for adoption, however he ended upon the care of a rather wealthy family.

As an only child, his needs were always attended to, however as the years came by, so did the genetic enhancements of the Primarch begin to manifest as he became larger, smarter, stronger, and faster than the rest of his peers. This of course has piqued the interests of the ruling government and had taken him with their consent for testing. The results found were of little use to them as they could not fathom the level of biological sciences applied by the Emperor, even attempts at collecting tissue samples was a daunting task due to the extreme regenerative abilities of the child-primarch. Due to his intellect he was able to accomplish the basic educational system in only a few years and immediately received scholarships from the top universities in Gentium at the 11th year of his life. After only a few years again he was able to accomplish his chosen course and had chosen more and more to simply learn, it had become something of a hobby to him, however war had come about.

A rebellion from the furthest colonies had begun due to unfair legislatures. Having been of the legal age the armed forces had immediately conscripted Aleksandr, the biggest problem having been how to dress and arm an 11 foot tall citizen. While in this war he was able to get a taste for combat, instantly bringing swift victories to Gentium and swift defeats to the insurrectionists, instantly becoming the poster boy of the military then. However there was one thing the government, which had gone corrupt over time, forgot, he would outlive them. After having quelled the rebellion, Aleksandr stayed in service for a longer time. Having attained a higher rank he was able to be privy to some of the less humane acts of the government, fearing for his life he decided to simply be quiet, but while waiting for the right time to strike, he gathered allies who would stand with him when it came to overthrow the corrupt system.

In the next decade, riots and acts of rebellion constantly kept breaking out over increasingly repressive legislatures. According to Aleksandr it still was not the time to strike, however the crew of the people and their suffering forced him to advance ahead of his time table and commence talks with the government, however then Prime Minister Farhine had heard what Aleksandr had to say, he branded him and anyone in association with him as traitors. It was then he decided to storm the Gentium Palace of Leadership, he overthrew them and for their crime of negligence, summarily executed all of them. With the news of Prime Minister Farhine having been killed, all the remaining colonies were free from tyranny, but for three years inter-faction war would tear across the four colonies, tired of the constant disturbances he decided to unify all of them under one flag once again. For another six years he had unified all seven planets under one flag with him as the de-facto leader and eventually elected Premier of the Seven Stars.

Aleksandr was amidst a university class, lecturing about the Six Year War for Unification when a ship made contact with the magnificent golden ship of the Emperor. Initially there was diplomatic channels open for the possible peaceful outcome with their first contacts outside of their realm, however when it was revealed to him that the pinnacle of humanity who was seated across the table of the Hall of Diplomats was his genetic father, he had simply bowed and asked what he requested of him. Directly after that he was asked to return with the Emperor to Terra to be refined in the many arts of warfare and trained under the relative watch of the Emperor.

It was on Terra he learned of the Machiavellian ways of both governance, management, and warfare, he hated it however recognized the necessity of a necessary evil and would use it sparingly in his command. During his off time however he gained a proficiency for crafting and creating warfare of exemplary make as a hobby. Eventually having been deemed ready, Aleksandr was given command over the II Legion, originally named the Horizon Dragoons, a decently sized legion who he took back to Gentium system to take on local recruits.

War Gear:
Spear of Necessity: A custom made Guardian Spear with a higher energy output and interchangeable volkite and plasma gun attachment.

Protego: Artificer Terminator Armor based on the Cataphractii and Aquilon patterns of armor, suitable for use by a Primarch.

Ceramite Hand: Gauntlets with built in bolters and a limited use metlagun.

Divine Right: The Primarch sized sabe made by the then Gentiumite Armed Forces, redesigned to be a power weapon.

Combat Doctrine: Widely known when fighting for general large and small scale warfare, the Primordial Guard, then known as the Horizon Dragoons, had specialized in breaking defenses, encirclement tactics and mass deployment, evident from their use of Land Raiders and drop pods to mass deploy to the warzone, break the defenses of the enemy, and then encircle them, leaving a small corridor of retreat for the enemy, whereupon they will be given the chance to either talk diplomatically, or die trying to break out. Most individual Guardian Units had their doctrine surrounded around either volkite or plasma weapons who create most of the damage against infantry and some vehicles, however due to a lack of such weapons, their roles have been taken up by other weapons such as heavy bolters, however these weapons are more reserved for specialized units, and simply more volatile and explosive ammunition, and diamantine tipped sabot-bolter rounds in limited production, thus a total of up to two to four sickle magazines per Guardian Unit Specialist.

Origins and History:
The II Legion was originally from Terran stock. They had specialized in ensnaring the techno-barbarian forces large enough to see to the destruction of significant Imperium forces during the last years of the Unification Wars. Much like many of the Astartes Legions they were present during the culling of the Thunder Warriors, the II being in the surrounding areas ensuring that the routing and encirclement of the Thunder Warriors would be kept to a very strict cordon to ensure they were all wiped out.

During the beginning of the Great Crusade, they did not have a specific role or favored warzone the Emperor ordered them to march to, only that they were pointed in the direction and would unite or destroy what was there. Initially they were led by Helios Alistair who had made a rather well career leading the Horizon Dragoons in their wide scale deployments and battles. Their names however were not as memorable as they had not done anything as stupendously incredible yet, only having brought worlds to compliance through bloodshed, they were a fierce fighting machine that only knew that a show of power was the only way to unite humanity, even if it meant they were to kill millions of innocent civilians to show it. It was not long however when they would find their Primarch. The day the Emperor came to the Gentium system, he was there to hold onto the leashes of the II Legion as to not cause a scene and potentially have to cull a Primarch and an entre legion for their failure to communicate properly, luckily Aleksandr was willing to talk.

Their reunification with their Primarch was a very messy one. When the Horizon Dragoons were handed over to Aleksandr, the first thing he had fixed was the disciplinary issues. With limited time and the Great Crusade swinging into action he had decided that for a while, anyone who showed aggression and fell out of line would be killed, a message that many did not receive well but would indeed come into effect much better than Aleksandr had thought. Next was the diplomatic aspect the Primordial Guard are very renown for, more than 50% of their compliance campaigns did not even require many lives to be lost as the approaches were more diplomatic than warmongering, which caused him to clash ideologies with the then Legion Master Helios Alistair who preferred direct confrontation, almost ending his life when Helios had tried the patience of his Primarch for far too long, however after having adapted to each other they had become near inseparable friends. On the campaigns requiring combat, Aleksandr will have taught the Legion the importance of far more intricate tactics, while they are flexible in most tactics, their preferred one had become a much more diplomatic version of an encirclement, allowing their opponents the choice to surrender or die. The switch of attitudes had changed the attitude of the legion to be one of the most tempered legions out there, even having the old Gentiumite doctrines of the preservation of life and property having rubbed off onto the legion with their evidently new attitude of showing care and some human emotion to civilians

During the Ullanor Crusade however the Primordial Guard would be tested to the very limit. Having seen the massive Ork Waagh! The legion was able to encircle a large horde of Orks in a standard encirclement move to remove pressure from his fellow brothers and sisters. A significant chunk of his legion was lost, majority having been the Terran born members. While the Emperor rescued his siblings and the killing blow was delivered to the Warboss, they bled to ensure that the operation was to succeed. However the Emperor had elected a new Warmaster, he felt a bit betrayed it was not him given him and his legion having been experts on large scale warfare and diplomatic approaches, however perhaps it was for the better he would think, as the galaxy was still very violent, and he feared that there might be a time he would not make the hard decision.

Years after, the rise of lodges had become prominent in the gossip of the fleet, while it was not minded at first, Aleksandr one day had remembered how the roots of corruption had started within the Palace of Leadership, in the small groups of people coming together as a group with common interest, soon growing into ambition and power they could not control. The infamous Primordial Guard Order 284, the disbandment of lodges and the ensuing disciplinary actions was enacted, some had refused to follow this order and were put to death due to their defiance. The culling of some parts of the legion had hindered, thus reducing their numbers further. The next phase was the installment of loyalty to the Imperium and the Emperor before their Primarch, through Primordial Guard Order 285, loyalty would be to the Emperor first and the Imperium above all else, chants would have the Emperor first before him was one of the better examples of this. While new Astartes are being trained, their close vicinity to Segmentum Solar allows them access to many more recruits who do not just come from the Gentium systems. Now as the tides of internal strife begin to churn, Aleksandr and his sons now stand at the ready for whatever new missions will happen.

Legion Organization and Structure:
Total Number of Active Astartes: 150,000
Zashchitnik Glava
- The equivalent of a Chapter to the Primordial Guards consisting of 1,000 Astartes with a total of 15 in active service
Batalli Sgiath
- The equivalent of a legion battalion. Each Zashchitnik Glava consists of two Batalli Sgiath which consists of 500 Legionnaires each alongside supporting equipment.
Dionadair Camarades
- Derived from the Gentium name for company sized units. Each consists of 100 Astartes, leading to roughly 10 in active service per chapter.
Strazh Yedinitsa
- Tactical Squad equivalent consisting of 10 Astartes. Originally this unit size was put into five Astartes per Yedinitsa, however due to both compliance and standardization changes were made to accommodate and ease the pressure and stress from logistics

Legion Command Hierarchy:
Marshal of the Legion
Grand Sentinel
Guardian Captain
Starshina
Eolach Priomh
Eolach Mion
Legionnaire

By nature the highest rank is held by the Primarch Aleksandr Zorkastanov, who is surrounded normally in meeting by his 15 Regiment Captains, this formation formally being called the Conference of Sentinels who are allowed to speak candidly to him in regards to battle plans, doctrines, etc. They are also present for advising during diplomatic solutions in compliance, the head of the First Zashchitnik Glava , Grand Sentinel Helios Alistaire, is the presiding chairman of the group when the Primarch is not there.

Specialist Formations:
Conference of Sentinels - The legion’s 15 most distinguished Grand Sentinels who convene before major affairs to talk about the plans and approaches, or should the Primarch simply call for their company.

Ostriye Tolchok - The first Battalion of the 1st Grand Batalli Sgiath clad in Cataphractii Terminator Armor who specialize in breaking both plans and defences of the enemy, thus forcing either a route, retreat, or surrender by disrupting operations to an extreme extent, or by killing the enemy leader by any means necessary as long as the casualties are not too high. They also have an Armored Company consisting of Land Raiders and Fellblades who are simply known as Company A who transport and break directly through enemy lines.

Vigil Confido is the chosen Dionadair Camarades of the 1st dedicated to the protection of the Primarch Aleksandr Zorkastanov.

Ubdi Eigneachaidh - A unit consisting of Astartes members in charge of eliminating whatever secret lodges are left and to maintain order among the ranks if the need arises. They can recruit some members outside of the legion in order to help in enforcement duties.

Andarna Cothrom Scions - A 2,500 strong unit of failed recruits who have a new purpose to the legion, they serve as operators, alongside their Astartes brothers, to crew support weapons and vehicles to allocate more Astartes to the fight. They do not operate all vehicles and support weapons however. Clad in carapace armor and a choice selection from appropriately sized bolters to hellguns. A smaller unit from them is used as a Special Operations group when the bulk of an Astartes hinders them to accomplish their goals.

Operatory Vosstanovleniya - A mix of Auxiliary and volunteer Astartes units dedicated to spearheading the rebuilding of recently made compliant worlds, or to make improvements on diplomatically compliant worlds. With the help of the Pinnacle of Industry they are not only able to replace weapons without the need of a logistics line for a while but to create pre-fabricated homes and structures.

Starthilfe - A mix of Auxiliary and volunteer Astartes units dedicated to spearheading the medical missions to gain the trust of the populace and tend to work together with the Corps of Engineers.

Legion Wargear: Standard loadouts for the legion, however there has been a note that there has been an increase in the distribution of volkite and plasma guns previously, however being switched over with grenade launchers, more explosive bolts, and diamintine tipped sub-munition sabot bolts. Melee weapons tend to be reserved for officers since the combat doctrine calls for range from the enemy, however each legionnaire is recommended to be proficient with one as a new order for basic Astartes sized assorted melee weapons will be coming soon.

Legion Vehicles: Use of standard vehicles, however has a specific use on both Fellblades and Land Raiders.

Notable Vehicles:
Chariot of Balance - Land Raider (Personal Transport of the Primarch Aleksandr Zorkastanov)

Murderous Intent - Fellblade (Personal Command Vehicle of the Primarch Aleksandr Zorkastanov)

Legion Fleet:
Total Fleet Number: 205 Ships

Notable Ships:
1x Gloriana Class Battleship - Pride of the Nation
1x Nemesis Class Fleet Carrier - Beast Made of Steel
1x Emperor Class Battleship - Might of Gentium
5x Battle Barges - (Constant Variable, Venerable, Mortal Wound, God Slayer, Freedom from the Oppressor)
1x Factory Ship - Pinnacle of Industry

Legion Relics:
None for now

Note: Sources say legions were in the hundreds of thousands. I'll bring the numbers down if the mods are doing double digit thousands only. Cheers.

Saphira and Raziel

"How could you ever hope to know the threat you faced when you have never walked in the dark places of the galaxy?"

Alias: Saphira: [Lady of] the Eventide, Belkira | Raziel: the Midnight Prince, Shemhazai
Appearance: The twins look remarkably similar to one another, to the extent that mortals can find it difficult to differentiate between them. They also bear a resemblance to their elder sibling Vasilisa. They are notably smaller than most of their siblings which, coupled with the larger than average height of their legionaries and similar looks exhibited by their legionaries, can help them seemingly blend in.

ImageImage

Archetype: Lone Wolf/Hunter
Personality: To mortals there is little difference between the twins; they are both dour, prudent, and seemingly prescient. To their siblings, however, there are differences. Saphira is lighter, with an eye to the future and holds a cautious optimism, whereas Raziel’s moods are more ephemeral, shifting from content to pained in short time, and having a grim outlook on events.

Much of this comes from their greatest gift, and flaw, the power of foresight. Often both will see the same or similar events, but in varying circumstances, and often different results. These visions can cause them significant pain, especially for Raziel who often sees the darker futures that may lay in wait for humanity. It is also rumoured that the twins have some form of limited telepathic or empathetic bond.
Backstory: According to classified official records, Saphira and Raziel were stranded upon a planet of barbaric and cannibalistic mutants, and the few 'sane' centres of civilisation hosted dark religious cults. It is unclear how long they were on the planet for, or when they landed. Deciding that all hope for the planet was lost, they fixed an old ship and set off a strange device which decimated and ultimately destroyed the planet while they made their escape.

War Gear: Spear of Destiny - Saphira wields a power spear apparently given to her by the Emperor. Supposedly it was forged from a lance held sacred by a religion of former Terra, and one that pierced the Emperor’s side during one of his many guises.
Ebonbrand - The power sword of Raziel
Artificer Armour - Both Saphira and Raziel wear artificer armour modified to suit their needs
Raziel's modified Needler - A highly modified Needler, suited to a Primarch's needs
Twilight's Blade

Image

"Plans are fragile things and life often dashes expectations to the ground."

Numeration: XX
Primogenitor: Saphira Razielim
Noteworthy Domains: None - Fleet Based
Combat Doctrine: The Twilight's Blade favours quick freedom of manoeuvre, and its battle tactics show a fondness towards specialised reconnaissance and infiltration units in opening combat operations, promptly followed by the rapid deployment of a strike force of fast armour, close air support and mechanised infantry units.

The Primarchs believe in freedom from set tactics, that officers following their own initiatives allows for the Legion to simultaneously attempt numerous objectives at once, at the cost of a strict hierarchy and possible coherency. Squads, and even legionaries, are expected to be able to act independently, on a permanent basis if needs be.

The Blades also further fight a war in the shadows. Their Astartes are not merely warriors, but also hunters, assassins, and spies. Alongside this, they great usage of mortals for purposes as spies, assassins, and saboteurs. They practice extensive psycho-reconditioning and facial reconstruction to place their agents deep behind enemy lines. With a single swing of a sword, firing of a laspistol, or command to lay down arms, an entire war can be averted or won.

Appearance:
ImageImage

Origins and History: Before the coming of their Primarchs, the XX served as the 'Ghost Legion'. It was designed to operate in the shadows, using subterfuge and measures that went against Imperial law to achieve victory against foes better left forgotten, or end rebellions before they had even begun. They were designed with great secrecy, and until the revelation of their twin primarchs they operated at the highest level of discretion, their existence only known by those told by the Emperor.

According to Imperial records they were found by the Primarch of the 14th, Uriel Februa, who found them in a barely functioning ship floating above a shattered world wracked by unnatural storms. Uriel then took them to the Emperor, and they were soon reunited with their legion. The truth is a little more puzzling. According to classified records when Uriel arrived a few ships of the XX legion were already present. His conversation with them was very brief and he left. They then reunited with the rest of their legion. The records make no mention of them meeting the Emperor until much later.

Reunion with their Primarchs did not come without its faults. Already they had suffered multiple flaws, their Betcher's Gland does not function, and their Catalepsean Node was, and still is, greatly flawed, giving them hallucinations and wracking them with mental pain even with moderate usage. Mere weeks after reuniting with the Twins, some began to have what is now called the Midnight Dream, a night of pain and hallucinations where the Astartes loses all hope and is reduced to a melancholic savage killer. These lost brothers would be gathered into the Eshim. Otherwise it is possible in the heat of combat for brothers to experience what they call the 'Hour of Twilight', the end of all things, where they experience a sense of rage at their hopelessness, though most return to normality soon afterwards, while an unlucky few experience the Midnight Dream while still awake. Unbeknownst to the legionaries, these problems largely stem from faults from their Primarchs.

Legion Organization and Structure:
The Legion is divided into 8 Commands, of 10,000, each led by a Lord Marshal. These are further subdivided into 10 Chapters, which are led by Chapter Masters. These are then divided into 10 companies, led by a Captain, and these are divided into squads, numbering 8 marines, which are led by Sergeants.

The smallest division in the squad is the legion is the Pair. As successful aspirants, Pairs are expected to learn everything about their other, enough to seamlessly take their identity if needed. These bonds are expected to be kept up even if they no longer belong to the same squad.

Legion Command Hierarchy:
Primarchs
Lord Marshal | Qess
Chapter Master | Moreh
Captain | Hakham
Sergeant | Maskil
Legionary | Rav
Aspirant | Shye

Specialist Formations: Doomiya - The 'bodyguard' of the Primarchs. Those who are selected for the role are not amongst the best fighters. Instead they are selected secretly, being listed as KIA and their old identities forgotten. They take a vow of silence, and never show their faces. They are notably very tall and large, even for the Blades.
Eshim - Those brothers who have fallen to the Midnight Dream. They have lost all hope, and in battle act suicidally, venting their range. They are gathered together, outside of the normal structure, and often given dangerous or impossible tasks where they can finally gain an eternal rest.
S’erhmelk - Specialised hunter-kill squads operating outside of the normal legionary structure. Once they are given a target, nothing will stop them in their attempts to kill, capture, or disable said target.
Tesed Rashem - A specialised formation of terminators dedicated to siege warfare
Hevzah - The grouping of the legion's pyskers, who, under order from their primarchs, study the more subtle arts.

Legion Wargear: Roughly standard, though with an emphasis on items that help with subterfuge and fast-paced combat
Legion Vehicles: Will look into this, but won't be anything strange bar maybe a collection of xenos vehicles.
Legion Fleet: The Twilight's Blade possess a very extensive and diverse fleet, although they lack in large numbers of heavy capital ships and planetary siegecraft in comparison to most other Legions. The main strength of their fleets is found in a plethora of different intermediate-class and Escort vessels, with range and speed being their primary focus.

They have also been accused of utilising a number of captured xenos vessels, a practise strictly forbidden under Imperial law without the sanction of the Mechanicum, but given the Blade's frequent activities far beyond the Imperium's borders and its hidden or obscure bases of operation, these accusations have so far been impossible to prove.
Legion Relics: N/A for now, will alert if anything changes.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Lucian Calrona
Alias: The Third Primarch, The Marshall of the Third, The Unifying Son
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Strategist/Tactician
Personality: Lucian is a calm and collected man who attempts to analyze and understand as much about a situation as he can in order to make the correct decision when called upon. He very rarely shows any emotion at all and looks upon everything with a cold attitude of logical thinking.
Backstory: Lucian Calrona, Primarch of the Third Legion and son of the Emperor was started his life just like every on of his siblings. Whisked away from their fathers labs on terra by the great beings of the Warp, Lucian found himself deposited upon the backwards feudal world of Grevona. This world was a world at constant war, fighting between the hundreds of lesser and greater domains had forged its people into a martial one which they used to great effect, killing and conquering one another.

Lucian was found by one of the Larger domains, the Domain of Gaius Calrona. Upon seeing and watching great growth and powerful mind the sonless Gaius adopted him as his own son and heir to the Domain and its Legions. Lucian would be taught the ways of war on Grevona, the emotionless and brutal slaughter of each other. He would excell in every area of his training, from stratagem to mathematics Lucian was the best, so it came as no surprise to the Domain that upon his adopted fathers death in battle he was confirmed as leader of the Domain.

Lucian quickly and efficiently conquered the lesser Domains that bordered him, subjugating their people and conscripting their capitulated armies into his own. These first moves did not cause any immediate worry from his rival Great Domains, this was the cycle of the world after all. The Great domains would conquer and subjugate those around them to show their strength and then would subside into a peaceful status quo with their neighbors, wars between the greater realms were rare, what was to be gained from them after all?

It was upon Lucians swift and brutal war with the largest of his neighbors that the remaining Great Domains began to worry, this upstart adopted son of a Domain Marshall was upsetting the balance of the world and needed to be stopped. The Great Domains rallied against Lucian, it was the Greatest Host ever gathered on Grevona which marched off to end Lucians threat and bring balance back to the warring world. What came next shocked the world, The Great Host was crushed, the Marhsalls slain. Whispers about Lucian began, what exactly was he? He was a genius, invincible, immortal, untouchable, they said. No one could best him, they knew this now and the world submitted to him, cities flinging open their gates upon his approach, Marshalls bending the knee. Grevona was united under one banner for the first time in recorded history, it was unthinkable.

That is until the truly unthinkable occurred. The Imperium arrived. The Emperor had come for his son. The people of Grevona are a stubborn bunch, Lucian himself inherited this from them, so when the Imperium first made contact they readied themselves for war. Hundreds of thousands, millions, gathered under Lucians banner. Old enemies united not just by the conqueres blade, but a seeming threat to their very way of life. There was no way they could lose, not with the invincible one leading them, not with Lucian Calrona as their marshall.

In hindsight Grevonas idea to stand against not just the Imperium but the Emperor himself, for it was he who personally lead the force which found Lucian. However the Grevonans and Lucian did not know who they truly faced at the time, they thought themselves facing conquers and did not know it was truly their long lost brothers who wished nothing more than to embrace them and lead them into the Imperiums light. Some scholars and remembrancers of the Imperium have asked why the Emperor was so generous in dealing the upstart Grevonans, we know that the Emperor and his legions could have swept the planet clear of opposition without effort but he did not, for the Emperor realized that one of his lost sons stood before him.

It was this reason and this reason alone that when the Legions of Grevona in their millions arrived on what is now called the Field of Unity, they faced not a hundred thousand invaders or even a million, instead they faced one hundred and one. The Emperor and one hundred of his custodes had landed, ordering the rest of the crusading fleet to stay in orbit and await his triumphant return. In his many years of warfare Lucian very rarely hesitated to press his advantage, this time he did however. His advisors seethed as the Marshall halted his forces and refused to attack, "Barely a hundred of them" "You could take them alone", they said. Something made Lucian doubt that.

So a truce was called and a meeting set up, the leader of this invasion force and Lucian were to meet unarmed between the great armies. None of the words said between father and son could be heard by either of the forces, but when both stood from their seats the Grevonan force was astounded to see the Great Marshall himself sink to a knee. Some say it was the Marshalls own example that lead to what happened next, others say it was the Emperors presence, many believe it was both, however all agree that upon seeing their Marshall show fealty to this man, the greatest host ever seen on the fields of Grevona did the same.

Lucian was then taken from Grevona and spent several years with his father, learning the ways of the galaxy from him and coming to understand his purpose. He was soon united with the Third Legion Astartes which he renamed to the Unifying Sons.

War Gear: A simple set of power armor that is modeled after the Legionnaire armor of his homeworld. Two twin shortbladed powerswords. A refractor shield built into his armor and a master crafted bolt pistol.

The Legion
Numeration: III
Primogenitor: Lucian Calrona
Noteworthy Domains: The Homeworld of Grevona. The Recruiting worlds of Seresto, Trevio, Gunther II, and Amors Stand.
Combat Doctrine: Drop pod assaults into CQB
Appearance:
Image

Origins and History: Formerly known as simply "The Third Legion", the Unifying Sons are the third of twenty legions who swear fealty to Primarch and Emperor. They have taken part in the great crusade since its beginning, fighting directly under the Emperor for much of the early stages of the crusade, splitting off later to form their own arm of the crusade like the other legions.

Countless worlds fell before them as they strove to bring humanity together once more, yet one thing was missing, they were leaderless, without their primarch. Each Astartes hoping that the next world they found would host their gene father, yet each world was another dissapointment. Their wait, while feeling like ages, was not to be as long as many of the other Legions. The Emperor himself discovered and brought Grevona and Lucian into the Imperium and the Legion rejoiced upon hearing the news.

Now the Legion serves as Lucians blade, striking down his and the Imperiums foes as they strive to see an end to the Great Crusade and a beginning of a united human galaxy. They did not know who their true foe was as they lurked in the warp, manipulating the legions and their primarchs from the shadows.

Legion Organization and Structure: The Unifying Sons are split into ten formations of ten thousand Astartes each. These formations are known as Cohort and are each under the command of a princeps. Each Company is split into ten files of roughly one thousand astartes each lead by a captain.
Legion Command Hierarchy:
Marshall (Primarch)
Princeps
Captain
Sub-Captain
Lieutenant
Centurian
Legionnaire

Specialist Formations:
Singulares: The personal bodyguard unit of Lucian. Only those who are far past the skills of their comrades can hope to be selected for the Singulares.

Librarius: The psyker wing of the Legion
Legion Wargear: Standard issue wargear with a higher ratio of Stormshields and Combi-bolters among the Legionnaires.
Legion Vehicles: Standard issue vehicles with a higher ratio of aircraft and droppods.
Legion Fleet: The flagship of the Legion is the Gloriana class battleship Indomitable Son. The Fleet itself is made up of 17 Battlebarges, 35 Strike Cruisers, which are supported by hundreds of lighter escorts and strike craft.
Legion Relics:
Cloak of the Exemplary: A dark red and finely made cloak which is awarded personally to those Astartes who are thought of as Exemplary by the Marshall. To wear such a robe is the highest honor among the third legion and those that receive it are almost always guaranteed a fast climb through the ranks. Those granted the cloak gain the honorific of "Exemplary", Brother-Exemplary, Captain-Exemplary, Princeps-Exemplary, etc.
Shield of the Marshall: A dozen mastercrafted Displacer fields which are usually worn by the princeps and deserving captains.

WIP, would appreciate any thoughts.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Drennus
Alias: The Judge, High Commandant of the Order of Judges, Wrath of the Emperor.
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Executioner/Architect.
Personality: Drennus is a stoic, grim individual. He has a penchant for ‘gallows humor’ when around those he finds respectable, such as his Legion or Imperial law enforcement, but he will not tolerate poor discipline or disrespect. Wholly devoted to the Emperor and his Truth.

Only when greatly riled does he display the deep rage within himself, entering into a maddened frenzy that removes all mercy from his mind.
Backstory: Like all other Primarchs, Drennus was scattered from the Imperial Palace to the expanse of space, his genetor-pod coming to rest on the world of the hive-world of Kiresti. Having been wracked with crime since the barbarity of the Long Night, her cities had seen the rise of the Order of Judges, a law-enforcement caste that held writ to summary execution. However as time passed the numerous syndicates and cartels had corrupted or outright slaughtered the Judges, leaving only one ‘true’ holdout, located into Hive Primus. It was here that he was found, rescued from the depravations of gangers. Raised amongst the numerous other orphans, he was instilled with the values of the Judges; Order, Punishment, and Law.

He grew quickly, in both body and mind, and began purging criminals before his 15th year. Before long he attained officer-rank, and soon after he became Commandant of the Hive’s Judges. However, he found himself disgusted by the noble leadership which controlled the Hive; more concerned with their power than actually ruling, they reveled in their decadence, openly dealing with the criminal elements that ruled the other Hives. They were incompetent, inefficient, and completely corrupt. Drennus could not let this stand. Marshaling his Judges, he staged a bloody coup against the nobles of the arcology, arresting them before trying and executing them on a planetwide feed. The crackdown that followed was the greatest in the history of the Order. Firing squads executed malcontents on live feeds, while tanks and gunships patrolled night and day, supported by surveillance cameras on every corner. Those who spoke out found themselves breaking their backs in the factories, or flayed if they resisted still. Order had come to Hive Primus, by gun and flame. As time went on this purge reached the other Hives; Resistance was met with grim efficiency and fury. Before long Drennus had brought the entire planet to heel. When the Emperor arrived he found an ordered, efficient police state.

It is said that, upon meeting the Emperor, Drennus knelt and presented his executioners blade, swearing an oath of loyalty to his Father. No hesitation, no bartering, no deals. Like many of his siblings, Drennus found his siblings wanting. From single-minded templars he changed them, teaching the Code and forging an organization like that of the Kiresti Judges. They became grim, brutally efficient enforcers of the Truth and the Emperor, building compliant worlds and crushing those that would resist.
Redemptor, an archeo-sword discovered by Drennus himself. On it the following is inscribed in High Gothic.

Only In Death Is Redemption Found. Empire Eternal

The Judges
Numeration: Ninth.
Primogenitor: Drennus.
Noteworthy Domains: The Judges recruit from a moderate number of worlds which they have personally rebuilt, and of course Drennus
Combat Doctrine: , with a focus on counter-insurgency and punitive actions. The Ninth are singular in purpose and exacting in mission, using the Codex Iudex, a warfare and philosophical treatise written by Drennushimself, as a guideline. It maintains that efficient usage of both fear and reward are key to maintaining an orderly society, and that efficiency is directly tied to the health of the State.

Campaigns undertaken by the Judges are hallmarked by the usage of combined arms, retributive tactics, and concentrated brutality; Firing squads, execution of political figures, and decimation are common. The greater the resistance, the more force the Judges will apply. Resistors are flayed, jackbooted enforcers march the streets, and transhuman monsters purge dissident meetings. Following a successful campaign, the Legion will leave behind a company detachment, acting as an advisory and enforcement apparatus to the local regime as rebuilding occurs, using their transhuman skills to create efficient, ordered worlds. By the time the Legion leaves the planet, it is self-sufficient as possible, and producing tithes on time and without complaint.

Appearance:
Image
No Hazard Stripes, and the armor is black.
Origins and History: Like all Legions, the Ninth held origins in the Unification Wars. Assembled from the children of those who resisted the Emperor, they were taught the sins of their forebears, and so fought with the fervor of those who sought redemption. Gifted the Cognomen ‘Iconoclasts’, they would root out those who subverted the Imperial Truth, burning buildings and putting those they find guilty to the sword, fighting with an aggression that often bled them near dry from the constant, massed assaults. The enemies they left behind were wrecked and ruined, worlds that would take intensive effort to become economically viable again.

When they were reunited with their Primarch, a radical rebuilding occurred. He taught them the philosophies and tactics he had honed in his years on Kiresti. They would function well in any theater of war, able to shift tactics and strategems as needed. Brutality and the resulting terror were merely one step of ensuring compliance; A rebuilt and reformed world, especially one with a healthy surveillance state, was key to ensuring loyalty. Since that rebuilding the Ninth have served admirably, smashing insurrections and crafting loyal worlds in the aftermath. (In short, the Judges are primarily intended for internal policing, with particular regard toward ideological purity and ensuring planetary effiency. Strategically/Tactically they operate akin to the bastard love child of the Ultramarines and the Night Lords; Combined arms, terror attacks, etc. They are the efficient and brutal arm of the State, punishing deviance and purging sedition. Torture, book-burnings, wire taps and disproportionate punishment are all tools utilized.)

Being replaced.

Name: Alizarelia Kallax
Alias:
Age: 73
Appearance:
Image

Organization Character Belongs to: Armada Imperialis (Saturnine Fleet)
Rank and Titles: Rear Admiral
Personality: Stern, but fair.
Backstory: As the fledging Imperium arose on Terra out of the ashes of the Unification Wars, another Human empire existed on the moons of Saturn and called itself the Saturnyne Ordo. The Ordo dominated Saturn and operated a highly disciplined military arm known as the Saturnine Fleet which was famed for its armoured void hoplites. During the early Great Crusade they signed a treaty with the Emperor to join the Imperium. The Saturnyne Ordo continued to have an influence on the Imperium in the form of the Solar Auxilia, which were largely based on the Ordo's Hoplites. The Ordo, now part of the Imperium, also continued to provide skilled naval officers to the Crusade.

Alizarelia Kallax hails from a long line of naval officer who've served in the Saturnine Fleet, her family having proudly served the Saturnyne Ordo for generations. However, Alizarelia has never step foot on the moons of Saturn nor has she laid eyes on the Sol System itself. Instead she was born in the void between the stars onboard a Saturnine warship, growing up amidst great clashes in the void until she was old enough to join the Fleet as a Midshipman. Over the decades that followed she steadily rose up though the ranks, partaking in boarding actions and gaining more responsibilities with each new rank. It almost seemed like Alizarelia was destined for command by first becoming the captain of a frigate and then a light cruiser before commanding squadrons and finally battlegroups. Recently she found herself being promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral and some say she has her eyes set on an even higher prize.

Alizarelia is known as a brutal and daring commander, willing to employ less than orthodox tactics if they seem likely to help achieve victory. Though it should be noted that she is resentful of the way that the Legiones Astartes commandeer ship, but she still has some grudging respect of the fighting qualities of the Legions.

Skills and Experience/Career Summary: Expert in void warfare, long career as a naval commander having held various positions as they rose through the ranks.
Personal Accoutrements of import:

"A battle is a beast. To try to control it is leashing it, restraining it. Better to let it run wild and free, liberated by chaos, rather than restrained by it."

Name: Uriel Febua
Alias: The Warhound
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Brute/Warrior
Personality: Uriel is a rather loud, jovial and bombastic Primarch, leading from the very front of the battleline alongside his Brazen Beasts. Impulsive, rash and more a creature of instincts than logic, Uriel detests the view of war as a science and indeed planning entirely, believing that any plan is doomed to failure and that warfare should be treated like a beast, to be herded and guided, not forced. Likewise, Uriel views his space marines as his friends and comrades, rather than his subordinates, and he can often be found drinking and socialising with his marines.

Backstory: Uriel Febua had the misfortune to end up on the barren plains of Alx; were he but a normal human, he would have died within minutes from exposure even with the shielding provided by his gestation capsule. Even as a Primarch, Uriel was lucky to survive until his capsule was found by members of the nomadic warrior-clans that fought across Alx's surface. Uriel was taken back to one, and his survival was hailed as a miracle, if an unexplained one.

Life on Alx was one of war; mobile and chaotic and the techno-barbarian tribes moved across their surface territories between access points leading down to underground agri-complexes that could only be inhabited for a short period of time while the crops there were harvested before the arcane filtration technology that provided the clean air and the auto-lathes that were used to build and repair vehicles had to shut down while automatic maintenance procedures repaired them. Warfare was chaotic, communication impossible in the storms that wracked the surface, and so individual initiative and leadership became how battles were decided.

Uriel, by virtue of his physical stature, quickly became a leader of one of these raiding groups, leading a single vehicle among many in raids on other tribes, absorbing them into their own, noting down the locations of the agri-complexes they used to better feed themselves.

It took a long time; decades, by Uriel's reckoning, to conquer every warband and underground facility on Alx. The Emperor arrived soon after, and Uriel was introduced to his legion, the Brazen Beasts. They were melee shock troops; Uriel didn't need to adapt them much in terms of combat doctrine, his main change was to their command, or new lack thereof. Although formally abolished, experience meant it remained informally initially, but as the Great Crusade dragged on, that dissolved as losses were suffered and new recruits gained more experience. The techno-barbarians of Alx were suited to becoming space marines, although they never became a majority in the Brazen Beasts, as Uriel introduced the principle of recruiting from those they conquered to replenish losses.

War Gear:
  • Judgement and Executor, a pair of matched Archeotech lightning claws that each includes a single-shot inferno pistol mounted over the wrist.
  • Hound's Bark:, a missile launcher.
  • Wrath and Ruin:Matched chainaxes

Brazen Beasts
Numeration: XIV
Primogenitor: Uriel Febua

Noteworthy Domains: The Brazen Beasts will normally leave a group of volunteer marines, ranging from five upwards to hundreds, behind on worlds that they conquer, to protect the world and to provide aspirants to be inducted into the legion. For this reason, the legion is scattered across the length and breadth of the Galaxy. The Death World of Alx, the legion's homeworld, is the largest single concentration of Brazen Beasts, largely still in training or having simply chosen to remain on Alx until they are persuaded to leave in a warband.

Combat Doctrine: Many of Uriel's brothers would call the Brazen Beasts' tactics human wave doctrine; an onrushing mass of vehicles, either carrying Space Marines within in the case of transports or riding on the exterior where not to close to melee without subtlety or strategy. The truth is far more complex and confusing. The dense storms of Alx where Uriel learned his art of war made any carefully crafted plan doomed to failure from the ever-changing and unpredictable situation or reliance on one specific group to perform one specific role suicidal. Warfare was fluid and unpredictable, chaotic, a beast unleashed and necessitating leadership to stem from the bottom-up, and it is this doctrine that the Brazen Beasts follow.

They are much like a wave; they will crash into the enemy with brute force, attempting to overwhelm them with force as they disembark from their transports. Like a wave, they will follow the path of least resistance, units flooding through where breaches have been made from where they have not, plans being formed organically as units report their status and opposition to one another and modified accordingly as the situation changes. And like a wave, if one assault fails, they will gradually withdraw, reform, reorganise, brief adjacent units on what they encountered and try again until they are successful. The Brazen Beasts believe that sheer relentlessness and tenacity can overcome anything in their path, and so losses are simply ignored. Their marines are trained to perform all roles, in order to be able to field as many or as few of each type of Space Marine as field conditions require, including leadership, so that the potentially high level of attrition the legion can endure on campaign is not an issue for combat effectiveness.

Appearance: The Brazen Beasts do not paint or otherwise adorn their armour.

Origins and History: The XIV Legion, the Brazen Beasts, were the Emperor's anvil; not a spearhead, meant to punch through, but meant to grind down through attrition, to hold the enemy in place. Where other legions might resent this treatment, the XIV accepted it with a grim efficiency and acknowledgement. They set out on the Great Crusade, largely being directed where other legions had failed or ground to a halt, their tenacity and fierceness expected to win through any enemy given time while freeing up other legions for more suited campaigns.

This continued for the rest of the Great Crusade, even after being reunited with their Primarch, but the legion took up Uriel's views on their assignments; they were the ones that were sent for when other legions failed; some would have said that they were used for the grimmest assignments, but the Brazen Beasts embraced it with pride at being sent to where the other, weaker legions had failed. Little changed with the discovery of their Primarch, save for the change in structure; the more free-flowing, horizontal hierarchy suited the wilder nature of the Brazen Beasts

Legion Organisation and Structure: The Brazen Beasts do not have a formal command structure, see below for more details. Stands at around 200,000 Astartes strong, with a large reserve being retained due to anticipated attrition in combat. Noted to usually have large quantities of supporting Solar Auxilia and Legio Titanica support and to have a good relationship with the Legio Titanica due to the high degree of respect and autonomy given to the Legio in field operations.

Legion Command Hierarchy: The Brazen Beasts do not have a formal command hierarchy or indeed a formal legion organisation; rather, structure in the field is figured out in the situation based on experience and respect, from the squad level upwards, with squads ranging in number from anywhere between five to fifty marines. For this reason the Brazen Beasts Terran veterans usually fill the de facto role of officers as they are the most experienced, leading warbands that are figured out as the battle evolves to perform specific tasks in their section of the front or were formed in earlier campaigns and have continued to exist without other warbands being split off. Likewise, the legion's Primarch is at the top, as he is the most respected member of the Brazen Beasts by virtue of being their Primarch. This makes them a nightmare for other legions to operate alongside, as it is extremely unclear to outsiders who is in charge of what if Uriel is not present, as the respect and experience-based hierarchy is otherwise unmarked within the legion, and so the Brazen Beasts normally operate alone.

Specialist Formations: The Brazen Beasts do not have specialist formations, as doing so goes against their doctrine.

Legion Wargear: The Brazen Beasts do not use destroyer weaponry nor train psykers. Terminator armour is noted to be rarer within the legion.

Legion Vehicles: The Brazen Beasts possess a higher than normal number of transport vehicles and Predator battle tanks, but otherwise do not field anything atypical.

Legion Fleet: Due to it's decentralised nature and the nature of Warp travel, a full and accurate accounting of the fleet of the Brazen Beasts is all but impossible; however, as a largely-fleet based chapter they are reckoned to have one of the larger fleets, numbering around a hundred capital class ships and 500 escort class ships, with these often being scattered into packs of 5-10 ships. The largest single concentration is around the Gloriana-class battleship Rex Bestia, led by the legion's Primarch, and has ten capital ships and 63 escort ships accompanying it from the legion.

Legion Relics: Beyond the Gloriana-class battleship Rex Bestia, the Brazen Beasts have nothing they would consider 'relics'.

This looks good! Any positions for someone not really interested with managing a legion or regiment? Had some thoughts about maybe an officer or advisor for another character or a knight pilot attached to one of the legions? Was also wondering what the relative strength/power level of humans, astartes, and primarchs will be like. Would a squad of guardsmen be able to tango with an astartes, or would they be doomed from the get-go?

Very much depends on the Astartes and guardsmen in question, the situation, and also what point in the Heresy. If you wanted to do something with a bit more punch you could do a Titan crew maybe?

Ooh, that could certainly be interesting - although I don't know all that much about what combat with Titans is like in the lore. Could it potentially be a bit on the OP side? The other appeal of Knights is that the aristocratic/house politics that their associated with could make for some fun character interactions. Although a single Knight may be a bit uninteresting besides Primarchs and Legions?

Depending on the Knight, one could definitely take on a squad or more of astartes. A Knight house depending on the size could be a lethal weapon of the imperium.

Titans are powerful, but there's ways to bring them down for normal Astartes forces, mostly Cerberus Heavy TDs, so they have to be used the right way and can't just blunder in, and in 40K at least view fighting non-Titans as beneath them. Titan crews also tend to have more of a say in larger matters than individual Knights, unless you did a Knight Household instead.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Nehushtan Saraph
Alias: The Serpent, The Hollow Shell (derogatory)
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: The Anvil

Personality: Nehushtan, on the outside, appears to lack the complexity of his siblings. While they wax about their titles and accomplishments, Nehushtan only goes by the Primarch. While they may think of complex strategies, Nehushtan will attack with overwhelming force. Some may stay behind to refound the damaged planets and build trust in the Imperium, Nehushtan will leave a portion of his iterators behind and carry on with the Crusade. In all, Nehushtan would appear to be a man who lives only for the fight and is unrepentant in his bloodlust.

However, while these are true, on the inside, Nehushtan deeply yearns for the recognition of his siblings. He undertakes the battles that the other legions would refrain from so that they may be able to assist in more vital conflicts. He attacks in overwhelming force so that he can bring the Crusade to a speedier end, not wanting to have it drag on with debates. He dislikes the titles as he feels that he hasn't yet earned them as the Crusade is not yet over, hence why he builds no statues to commemorate himself, as that would take resources that would be better spent in fighting the Crusade. He knows how superior the Primarchs are, but believes that the time to be human is for after the Crusade as the Imperium does not need any more philosophers. It requires soldiers and those willing to sacrifice themselves, and Nehushtan dutifully does so.

Backstory: Nehushtan crashed down on the planet of Nuzi, a death world covered in unforgiving sands that would swallow up the unprepared, its cities were almost all on the coast and fought frequently over the lifeblood of humanity, water. Nehushtan was found by a battered army on the retreat, and would have likely been eaten by the starved men had one of the commanders, Prince Naram, not sighted this and rescued the child, bringing him back to Naram's city, Girsu. Here, Naram saw that his rescuing of the child was a reward, as the child grew at a far greater rate than any other, his development considered a marvel of the gods that ruled Nuzi.

By Nuzian culture, he was not granted a name until he had completed a great task and was simply known as the Found Son, which was used to mock him during his education. It wasn't long before Nehushtan succeeded Naram and became ruler of Girsu, almost immediately setting his city on the warpath to conquer Nuzi. Nuzi had an established code of conduct in how war was fought, but Nehushtan found them ridiculous and constraining, so he frequently used whatever weapon he could, a particular favourite was to release a horde of venomous snakes into an enemy's camp and set it alight during the chaos, which led to him being named Nehushtan, the Fiery Serpent. Two decades of violent war was the price of conquering Nuzi, and it was then that Nehushtan began to rebuild, the sparse resources that were once used for war would now be utilised for peace. He built great monuments and memorials, redesigning cities and organising Nuzi into a landmark of civilisation. By the time Nehushtan was reunited with the Emperor, he was often referred to as a Living God, which he initially liked, however when meeting the Emperor, he realised how greatly he paled in comparison to this being and made it known he was just as moral as any man. Nehushtan was given command of the VIIIth Legion, the Imperial Wardens, but he changed the name of the legion to the Vipers Astra, changing the philosophy of the Legion from overseers of Imperial rule to that of a brutal war machine that churned out compliant worlds, however bloodied.

War Gear: Serpent's Fang: An artefact power-Khopesh, a crude khopesh blade that lacks the decoration of similar weapons. It's sharped edge crackles with power, while the blade is coated in a poison that can kill a man in moments, leading to death even if the blade barely cuts its foe.
Bane of Mercy: An artefact bolter pistol
Armour of the Primarch: Artificer armour for use of a Primarch, largely unadorned other than a large snakeskin cloak. Comes with a wrist-mounted flamer.
Feral Maw: A colossal artefact Power-maul, it's casing has the image of a snake carved in it.

The Legion
Numeration:VIIIth
Primogenitor: Nehushtan Saraph
Noteworthy Domains: Nuzi: Home of Nehushtan and the Legion's primary recruiting pool
Combat Doctrine: Attrition, terror, and unstoppable force
Appearance:
Image

Origins and History: The Vipers Astra were once known as the Imperial Wardens, they conducted warfare in a style that aligned with the example set out by the Emperor, honour was greatly prized by the Wardens and defeating the leader of the enemy head to head was considered the optimal to receive promotion. By this fashion, the Wardens were a slower crusading fleet, but the compliant planets it produced were wholly aligned with the Imperium and exemplar citizens, as such they were often tasked with conquering planets that would be considered particularly resistant to Imperial rule, additionally, the original Wardens were of noble stock or children of those families that had allied with the Emperor against his enemies during the Unification Wars.

The reunification with their Primarch didn't change the planets they were ordered to conquer, but it did change how they did so. Ruthless bombardments, unstoppable advances of men and material that crushed the enemy underfoot in brutal displays of ruthlessness, flamers were used with particular focus due to the psychological effect it produced in the enemy. Additionally, the old preference for noble-born aspirants was done away with. Nehushtan's time on Nuzi had taught him to use every resource available, and this was committed to all aspects of the Legion, especially in how it chose its aspirants, making do with children of conquered enemies, those chosen from the Nuzi system, and even children made during relations between those serving in the Imperial Army units attached to them. For the Vipers Astra, this large pool of potential recruits was necessary for its style of warfare. It was soon realised that the gene-seed of the Vipers Astra presented a mild flaw, an overactive Betcher's Gland, which has led to acid saliva being made involuntarily and of higher acidity than that of other Legions. This has led to more than one occasion, accidentally spat on visiting diplomats. Consequentially, many Vipers cover the lower half of their face to prevent such happenings.

Worlds conquered by the Vipers Astra were cowed and broken, but loyal to the Imperium, in fear that the Serpents might return should they step out of line. A consequence of this is that the Legion is often wanting of recruits to maintain its numbers, which it does so by taking applicants by force from conquered planets, by volunteers from Nuzi and their aligned planets, while also using the children of the citizen crews of their crusade fleet.

Legion Organization and Structure: The Vipers Astra organisation does not deviate much from the norm, the largest unit being an Imni which was composed of 10,000 men, with 36 of these existing. The Imni are commanded by two Sars, who divide responsibility for organising the units and ensuring they fulfill their orders, while in turn they are subordinate to a Sar Mat who oversee three of the Imni. The Imni are broken down into 5 Schmeli's of 2,000 men, commanded by a Bani. The Sar Mat's make up the Primarch's upper echelon and are privy to his military plans, however five are chosen to be Sar Mat Exemplar, which are those that are closest to the Primarch and whom he asks for advice from.
Legion Command Hierarchy:
Primarch
Sar Mat Exemplar
Sar Mat
Sar (5,000 men)
Bani (Captain, 2,000 men)
Ensi (Sergeant, 1,000 men)
Muddis (500 men)
Issiak (100 men)
Dingir (50 men)
Brother (Smallest unit)
Specialist Formations: The Vipers Astra maintain four specialist units; the Nabu, the Kudurri, the Ninurta, and the Usur. The Nabu are morale officers and, while on the battlefield, act as an intermidiary between the Muddis and the Ensi's, while their primary function is overseeing the psycho-indoctrination of the Vipers Astra and ensuring a lack of discontent among the men, additionally a corp of them are responsible for overseeing the training of aspirants and choosing those that are ready to become Astartes.. The Kudurri are the personal bodyguard of Nehushtan and number 100, they are one of the few units that are allowed to display any decoration on their armour, often in the shape of a pauldron shaped into a snakes head. The Usur are the specialists of the Legion and oversee the maintenance of their armouries and vehicles, often working with the Mechanicum in this function. The Ninurta are the Terminators of the Legion and are present in every Imni in the 4th Schemli. Usur are also the only members of the Vipers Astra that are authorised to use doomsday weapons and only in cases where the enemy are too numerous to overcome in the normal fashion, or deemed unworthy of being brought into the Imperium's light. The use of these weapons is not done lightly, while the Usur who uses the weapon is not named.

Legion Wargear: The Legion uses the standard equipment as the other Imperium's legions, however it possess a larger amount of flamers and heavy weaponry, due to the legion's propensity for overwhelming force and psychological warfare.
Legion Vehicles: The Legion uses standard legion vehicles, however it has more tanks than usual due to the aforementioned firepower.
Legion Fleet: The Vipers Astra possess one of the larger Legion fleets to accommodate for its large size and the logistics involved in servicing the force,numbering at 107 capital ships, 700 escort class ships, and countless smaller craft. Of note, the Legion possess;
1x Gloriana-class Battleship - Head of the Serpent
4x Retribution-class Battleship - Vigilance, Herald of the Imperium, Beast of the Deep, Emperor's Guiding Hand, Eternal Dominance
7x Battle barges - Jewel of Nuzi, The Fiery Serpent, Primarch's Pride, Superiority of Man, Benevolence, Bane of Xenos, Terroriser

Legion Relics: The Legion is forbidden from revering any relics due to the Nehushtan believing the Imperial Truth outlaws it, however soldiers are permitted to carry items of value to them to commemorate individual events, which are displayed during feasts held by the Legion. So, in a way, the Legion, despite having no relics, possesses countless relics.

Antimersia - Looks fine, could use more ships, most legions had a minimum of 180 ships with the only exceptions being the Thousand Sons who were far smaller in number than the average legion

Rodez - Looks fine so far

United Island of Polis - Could do with more ships, see above for rough guideline for numbers
Volkite and Plasma weapons would be seeing a reduction of use rather then an increase thanks to the time and setting
A bit too intertwined with the Imperial Army and could use some more separation, including combined units and naming and organization.
Normal Astartes wouldn't be issued Power weapons which is implied at one point

Rev - Storm bolters did not exist in 30k, they're combi-bolters although they do look very similar
Imagine link doesn't work for me at least, but others have said it does for them so
Storm shields are rare since they're just coming into service, but can still have a higher ratio of them even if the numbers will still be small, don't forget the thunder hammers either
Displacer field drawbacks, but not an issue otherwise

Pruss - Need a general break down of line/escort ships split

Audunia - Seems fine so far
