United States: divide Washington into two states?

In the United States, lawmakers are considering dividing Washington State into two states, the state of Washington and the state of Liberty. I for one do not endorse this. I think it's a stupid idea. The state of Washington has been around for a very long time and there is no sufficient evidence that they (meaning the part of Washington that wants to become the state of Liberty) are culturally different from the rest of Washington.

What are your thoughts on this? Should Washington be divided into two states, or should it remain one state? Why?

It's more a chronic feeling of non-representation in Olympia by the entire portion of the state east of the Cascades. It's not without merit.

Also the last few elections have shown Urban-Rural is far more of a factor in voting patterns than region is like it used to be, so it makes sense to create new states so rural people who are disenfranchised aren’t ignored

I mean in that case it would easier to just put in a popular vote and do away with the electoral college. That way everyone is represented equally.

A) The contention in the OP is unsourced; who are these lawmakers? Is there any external evidence that this suggestion is in any way realistic?

Two potential remedies if the OP would like to try again:
