World Cup Host Announcement

Someone has brought it to our attention that there was a minor error in the creation of pots. Caryton (The Spiritual Republic of Caryton) was mistakenly listed as unranked, thus placing them in pot 10. However, Caryton is ranked 300 which would place them in pot 8.

To rectify this, minor changes will be made to the group draw, affecting groups 1, 7, and 19.
- Caryton will be moved from group 19 to group 7.
- Silvedania, now in pot 9, will be moved from group 7 to group 1.
- Mapletish, now in pot 10, will be moved from group 1 to group 19.

What time GMT on Monday will the MD1 scores be posted?
NS Stats are sometimes right, but sometimes wrong. TG me if you have questions, but the most important thing to know is that Lorrana is capitalist, even though the stats show otherwise

Competition that will run through the World Cup qualifiers. To enter, all you have to do is pick one team from each group. You have a maximum of 240 KPBs to spend, so you can't just pick the Pot 1 from each group! Follow the instructions at the bottom of the "Start Here" sheet (and let me know if you encounter any errors along the way!)

Thanks to Ko-oren on whose work 95% of this was based, all errors are 100% my fault.

Last call for fantasy entrants. Otherwise the sheet will be locked for additional entries/changes at the MD2 cutoff today (which is presumably about 4 1/2 hours away).

I normally don't read posts from other users during the qualifying stage, unless they are in my group.

But I must say the one posted by Arch (on his puppet account) was a good one.

Or is Arch the puppet of Alisdair.

The UWC is an Audioslavian invention which traces the World Champion not based on the tournament but by the boxing principle - you become the champion by beating the champion. It is traced back to WC1 and came into the tournament in the hands of Al Qurija. More information can be found at this link

I suspect it is also based on the irl Unofficial Football World Championships which has been calculated since 2003 though has been calculated since the second international match when England won in 1873.

Ah yes thank you penny drops now. It's like when you unexpectedly see someone from work when you are holidaying in Torremelinos... it's hard to place them out of context.

EDIT: Not that that is likely to happen anytime soon.

More detail can also be found in Audioslavia's youtube series, if any interested have some time to burn watching his Jon Bois impression. Episode 4 is the one that specifically deals with the matter of belts, and the chapters of Episode 5 (as well as Star's new Craziness Encouraged video series) are currently being aired live every Sunday (organized through the NSS discord).

Cheeky trailer for the next few instalments.

If you've ever wondered what a semi-complete history of Eastfield Lodge's trials and tribulations in the Nationstates World Cup looks like, come along on Sunday at 20:00 UTC. The link to the sync-tube.de room goes up an hour beforehand. Give me a shout if you'd like me to PM you the link too.

If you don't mind waiting, all of Episode 5 will be coming to a World Cup / Cup of Harmony thread near you this cycle.

For the awareness-raising-of-video RPs bandwagon, I will also drop this thread in, and as Episode 2 of Craziness Encouraged premieres tonight in the same Discord watch-along as The Idiot Project, CE Episode 1 will be linked in that thread and the WC87 RP thread around the same time, for anyone who missed it*.

Silvedania, the majestic nation.
NS Stats are mostly accurate except for a few things, like this nation is capitalist and the death penalty isn't in effect

News:All trade with Crabaiaia and Pikala has stopped as diplomats meet in Trenaka. Silvedanians are confused by Quentin Tarantulatino's new film, Seasonal Snackbox(This is a Bojack Horseman reference.) Weird song goes viral for making no sense.
