Molither bans chewing gum

Postby Molither » Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:03 pm

King Christopher Hughes recently decreed that from now on, chewing gum shall be prohibited. This is after a recent visit to Singapore where the King was impressed by the cleanliness of the streets and when inquired why, was met with the answer that Singapore has a ban on chewing gum.

From now on, anyone caught in possession of chewing gum faces a $1,000 fine and anyone caught importing chewing gum faces a $10,000 fine. Exceptions have been made for nicotine gum, that is available for prescription only for smokers trying to quit.

The dominion of Molither shall not tolerate these threats! The King has prepared the national guard of 20,000 men just in case.

Molither calls for assistance from its allies to airdrop essential supplies, similar to what Truman did during the blockade of West Berlin.

Hundreds of planes are sent to not let any air supplies come in. All civilian planes will not be fired upon, but after they unpack goods will be destyroyed

This is a disgrace. Killing an entire industry just to make the streets 2% cleaner? Strange choice, but what am i going to do?

We will try and promote peace, but this will do little to ease tensions.

Like we say, we will promote peace, however, we can send resources over to help fuel the blockade if you want. We don't want to get our hands dirty.

OOC-fun fact from someone who has lived in Singapore for 16 years (and counting)...

Chewing gum law is something that is indeed present in Singapore, but it's not that enforced that fiercely. You can totally have a pack or two for yourself in order to share it with your friends or your families. Possession alone won't get you. Importing a boxload or a warehouse-ful of it with the intent of selling them, however, are going to be trouble.

So this is a bit funny whenever people cite the chewing gum laws of Singapore as one of the weirder laws we have here - It has always been legal to bring small amounts into the country for one's own use. It sucks that you can't find it, sure, but until COVID happened, you can totally go to Malaysia, buy a few sticks, and then come back. Yes, that is fine. I am not giving tips on breaking this law, lol.

You are now a Finer City than Singapore! Thankfully chewing gum is not as addictive and people can live without it. If your people thrive on gums, that's going to be a huge black market.

/ End of fun fact. And nitpicking! :P

The blockade was one thing, but this is worse than an aerial bombing! We have sent propaganda pamphlet balloons to Romextly calling for their citizenry to rise up against the regime and have provided photoshopped pictures of the Romextly elite littering and laughing about the state of their nation!
