The Insaani House of Representation is voting on whether or not to implement Shariā Law as the national law of the land. The late President Mustafa ibn Sina Abu Jamal blocked the House from debating this, but with him now gone, politicians of the National Islamic Party (NIP) and Hizb Islamiyya fil Ard an-Nas (HIN) are presenting the issue again. In mid- 2020, both these political parties gained substantial power, and now are in a position where this ruling might pass.
