CURRENT DATE: March 17th, 2020 - March 24th, 2020

Welcome to the Land of the Free, an American Political and Character RP where players can explore the intricacies of government, from the cloak and dagger politics of the capital, to plainspoken compromise in the heartland, to the gritty in-and-outs of running some of the world’s greatest cities.

The year is 2019, and we are nearing the end of one of the most controversial presidencies of the past century. President Wolf, a polarizing and controversial figure, recently announced his intention to stay out of the 2020 Race due to his public diagnosis with a crippling disease. The struggle for the Presidency has been be blown wide open, and all politics hang in the president’s shadow. It is up to you to decide how you will manage in this climate. Will you oppose his policies from the left? Champion them on the right? Or try and chart a middle path amid one of the most polarized periods in American History?

Play as a Senator, Governor, Congressperson, Mayor or any other figure with a hand in today's politics. Or run for office, from dogcatcher to the Presidency to fight for your own slice of the American Political landscape. Create an original character, make history and steer them through... The Land of the Free.

All characters in this RP are original, and all politicians after Reagan left office in 1988 have been replaced with fictional characters. All events that occurred in real history have occurred in this RP, the economy is in the same shape, the climate, international relations, healthcare and everything you can quantify is the same.

What has changed is the President. President Arnold Wolf was elected as a Republican in a populist groundswell, upsetting the ultimate establishment candidate in unprecedented fashion. Wolf is similar to Trump, with similar accusations regarding racism and sexism, a similar tendency to be bombastic and loud, and an identical emphasis on rhetoric that has thrown fuel into the fire of American politics. In 2018 the Republicans took massive losses across the country resulting in losing the House but maintaining the Senate. In late 2018, a government shutdown paralyzed the capitol, but the shutdown was abruptly ended following President Wolf's unexpected capitulation on December 30th. It is 4 days later, the new Congress has been sworn in, and there is an air of great unease that has settled over DC.

As 2019 draws closer to an end, Washington begins to heat up with both the primary fields thinning out, only few remain in each party's primaries. In a shocking turn of events, President Arnold Wolf address the nation announcing his resignation from the Presidency citing 'poor health', this leaves Vice President Rick Tawney to pick up the pieces of a very divided nation and continue the Wolf legacy.

In the midst of a time of great political chaos and confusion, where do you stand?

Note: The Land Of The Free is the sanctioned spiritual successor to the long-running and award winning Washington Political RP.

THE LINKS:

COMPOSITION:

26 Republican Governors and 24 Democratic Governors

52 Republican Senators, 46 Democratic Senators, 2 Democratic Caucusing Independent Senators

235 Democratic Representatives, 199 Republican Representatives, and 1 Libertarian

THE RULES:

1. The OP's words are the words of the Gods, but these Gods are not infallible, you can argue your position in a civil way but in the end their decision is final.

2. No real people or celebrities as characters. There is no Bernie Sanders that you can play. As per the introductory note, politicians post-Reagan do not exist, or have been replaced with generic stand-ins: you can play them, should you wish. Records and history are the same, including statistics, save in the places where player-characters have brought about a change.

3. Regarding absences- If you, for whatever reason, must take a leave from the roleplay-that is of course fine. But please inform us ahead and how long it may take. If you are found to have just up and left the RP, we may have to simulate how you character act in votes per say, especially depending on their importance.

4. When it comes to writing; please do it well. We expect a certain level of quality with your posts. One or two sentences will not be acceptable, but we can be permissive-if your character is engaged in conversation, a sentence is fine

5. Please make characters of quality and substance. We don't want Mary Sue flawless characters who are 30 year olds, models, former sharecroppers with military service earning a medal of honor and then returning from Iraq to attend Harvard. Those characters aren't very fun to play or interact with. But on the other hand-no sabotage characters. Just because you hate Democrats, don't make a hopelessly corrupt and scandal-ridden Democrat with no redeeming qualities.

6. No cheat-edits. Once you've made an IC post, leave it. Edits to formatting are all right along with typos, but don't try to change anything major compared to what you have already written, especially if it has already been responded to. If your character said it in public, it must stay. Gaffes happen, after all.

7. If you are not sure if something is legal or okay, ask OOC first. Always better to check-and there is limited leniency for things that are obviously bad.

8. No events that directly affect another character without permission first. In essence, avoid physical altercations and outrageous "accidents". Assassination is banned, any external action taken against politicians will take place in the form of an event.

9. No meta-gaming. Do not let the OOC influence the realism of your character's actions. If they are in a closed situation in which information is limited, they cannot state specific statistics, for example.

10. PG-13 limit. Per site-wide rules, nothing too saucy or racy. You know it when you see it.

In this roleplay's predecessor, Washington, there was a tendency for players, especially newcomers, to gravitate towards a certain kind of character, dubbed "hotshots", with several traits typically in common: An extremely young, often fiery, successful, tall and attractive politician, with excellent charisma and skills, often winning in a district or state that their party typically loses in, and possessing an inspiring backstory, with their 'weaknesses' being stubbornness, unwillingness to follow the rules, and generally being an anti-establishment rebel type. Oftentimes as well, their views may be a self-insert of the player's own.

While such a character makes an excellent movie star, they are less fit for a roleplay based off of the realities of Washington. Few thirty-year old Senators built like football players and models are running about, and only so many anti-establishment characters can exist before the 'establishment' becomes a minority.

The recommendation is for new players to consider expanding their horizons. Instead of looking for a "movie star" "hotshot" character type, consider making a character who holds different views than you, who has definite weaknesses, older, establishment. Perhaps more skilled in experience, or other ways.

Everyone wants to be the young prodigy, but it is a better roleplay experience for all, including yourself, to seek some diversity.

Lilyana has been hesitant to do anything for any of the candidates.

Biography:
Wesley John Bucknell was born in 1937 in Beaufort, South Carolina to Hiram, a navy veteran of WWII, and Leanne (née Harvey), a nurse at the local naval hospital; his parents met while his father was recovering from a wound. Of English and Irish descent, he was the second of five children; he went by Jack from an early age so as not to be confused with his uncle Wesley. Shortly after Jack's birth, both his parents lost their livelihoods as naval infrastructure began to atrophy post-war. His family moved to a five-acre farmstead near Beaufort with no plumbing or electricity, where they raised tomatoes. Almost as soon as he could walk, Wesley was helping his parents around the farm. Despite the poverty and intense rural lifestyle, he had a happy childhood. As he grew older, he attended school only about half the year, never able to leave the farm during planting and harvesting seasons; his academic progress suffered as a result. Already 6'2" by his freshman year of high school, Bucknell was a dominant force on the football field, becoming captain of the school team during his senior year. He was a popular but gentle-natured young man. At the urging of his father, he applied to the Citadel, and was granted a full-ride athletic scholarship.

Jack Bucknell's years at the Citadel were the most difficult of his youth, as he struggled to stay abreast of the rigorous curriculum; he was intelligent, but had no solid academic foundation. Thanks to his perseverance and the help of his peers, Bucknell steadily climbed upward through his class, graduating 131st out of 821 with a degree in business in 1961. During these years, Bucknell, nicknamed "Bucky" by the other cadets, struck lifelong friendships with numerous other students and was popular among his graduating class for his gentility, wittiness, and good-natured personality. Shortly after graduating, Bucknell married his high school sweetheart, Jolene Johnson; their first child, Rusty, was born the year after.

Bucknell's first assignment was to a missile cutter, but he applied to flight school, which he graduated soon after promotion to Lieutenant in 1963. Promoted again to Lieutenant Commander in 1965, Bucknell was among the first navy servicemen to be deployed to the Vietnam War. Until 1968, he flew over two hundred bombing missions, obtaining another promotion to Commander. Life-altering disaster struck that year, when Bucknell was shot down behind North Vietnamese lines. Parachuting into a local village, Jack was beaten unconscious and taken prisoner, ultimately imprisoned within the infamous Hỏa Lò Prison. He was subjected to all manner of inhumane physical and psychological tortures, but despite the pressure, never betrayed his country to the enemy, and was in fact a leader of the resistance movement within the prison. His mental fortitude was best exemplified when his captors planned to parade him in public: Bucknell slit his scalp with a razor and bludgeoned himself with a stool until he was unrecognizable, unwilling to be used as a propaganda tool by the North Vietnamese.

Of course, this was not without long-lasting repercussions: Bucknell was repeatedly denied medical attention for his leg, which had been injured in the crash, leaving him crippled for several years and with a permanent limp. Moreover, his personality was greatly changed over the course of his five year internment. Previously a cheerful optimist, Bucknell came out of Vietnam a grim Stoic. His gentle nature was compromised by his new irritability, anxiety, and volatile mood swings; and overexposure torture left him with a phobia of flash photography. When Jack was returned to his family at long last in 1973 as part of Operation Homecoming, he was a different man; his wife would later reflect that she had seen him laugh more in one day before the war than he did the rest of his life afterward.

Briefly celebrated for his sacrifice, Bucknell was awarded the Medal of Honor and a promotion to Captain. Although he could barely walk and could not fly, the Navy kept him on active duty out of respect for his service. Over the next two decades, Bucknell, a workaholic, built a career in the naval administration. This period was largely uneventful, as Bucknell was still recuperating from the aftershock of his imprisonment; however, he did make a name for himself within the Navy as an advocate for officer training reform, wanting to better integrate the various naval aviation schools to minimize intraservice rivalries. His tireless work ethic, impeccable competence, and long-standing ties with the naval elite secured him steady promotions, until he eventually rose to become Admiral of the Seventh Fleet. Bucknell's only combat experience as a senior staff officer was in the Gulf War, where he organized 96,000 Navy and Marine Corps personnel and over 130 allied warships. Bucknell was also responsible for the prolonged naval and aerial bombardment of Iraq, actions which lay heavily on his mind in subsequent years. During the Gulf War Bucknell was nicknamed "Navy Jack" by the marines and army men who served under him, reflecting the high degree of control he exercised over joint operations.

Following the conclusion of the Gulf War, Bucknell presided over the Tailhook Association Symposium. When a sexual assault scandal erupted from the conference, much of the national blame fell on the Admiral, who was accused of failing to properly address sexual harassment in the Navy. As a result, Bucknell retired in early 1992, returning to quiet life in Beaufort. However, he was intrigued when he was offered the presidency of his alma mater, the Citadel. Jack was President for eight years, and was notable for attempting to radically reform the institution's training regimen. Influenced by his experience as a North Vietnamese captive, Bucknell wished to instill every cadet with the stoicism he believed was necessary not just to survive torture, but to serve America to the best of one's ability. These changes were resisted, however, by the Citadel's administration, and ultimately the only mark he left on the university was the Wesley Bucknell Auditorium named in his honor.

Retiring from public again in 2000, Jack lived quietly in Beaufort. His dedication to military service had prevented him from actively rearing his own children, Rusty, Sandra, and John, now fully grown; but he delighted in spending time with his twelve grandchildren. During this time, Bucknell also acquired a number of peculiar habits: he rose at three every morning to birdwatch, exclusively wore his naval dress uniform, collected a menagerie of exotic birds, and refused to interact with anyone or do anything he deemed "Communistic." In 2002 he published his memoirs, Five Years in the Hanoi Hilton, which was later adapted into a made-for-television movie by the NBC. He was also frequently invited to lecture at the Citadel and other universities, both military and civilian, across the nation; his lectures usually focused on his study of ancient Stoicism and application of the Greek philosophy to modern military life.

In 2004, Bucknell became embroiled in a dispute with Beaufort's county administrator. Bucknell wanted to erect a large flagpole, but the administrator repeatedly blew him off when he requested the necessary permits, and eventually flat-out refused to provide them. The situation escalated until an irrationally upset Bucknell went public with the story. Local newspapers published inflammatory stories accusing the administrator of hating the American flag, eventually generating statewide outrage and causing the administrator's resignation. Beaufort's county council, encouraged by the local outcry, offered Bucknell the job.

Initially hesitant to accept, Bucknell soon found he was back in his element as county administrator. He ran Beaufort with military efficiency, in fact subordinating the county council to his whims via a combination of charisma and intimidation, so that he was for all intents and purposes the executive branch of the county. Over the next few years he perfected this strategy of governance, and was well-liked by the county's populace for his rural charm and speedy competence. His interest in national politics was sharpened by the 2008 presidential election. A vocal detractor of Rashid Baharia, Bucknell was prone to rattling off a long list of conservative reforms he would enact as President to anyone who would listen.

Jack closely followed the 2010 Republican primary for South Carolina's governorship, but was surprised when he was approached by candidate [not-Nikki Haley], who wanted the veteran as her running mate. Encouraged by his kith and kin, Bucknell agreed. His relationship with [not-Haley] quickly became strained due to his reticence to leave the house and campaign, but after a heart-to-heart he agreed to step up for the good of the state, and was an active fundraiser and organizer during the final months of the campaign. [not-Haley] and Bucknell were elected to Arsenal Hill by a five point margin.

The former admiral soon began to butt heads with [not-Haley] once more, wishing to wield more than ceremonial power as Lieutenant Governor. Although their working relationship was tense, [not-Haley] never replaced Bucknell for fear of the backlash from his dedicated admirers across the state. Bucknell forced his foot into the door of the state legislature during his tenure, making contacts in the South Carolina House and Senate through the same mixture of intimidation and charm he had used as Beaufort county administrator. In 2014 Bucknell and [not-Haley] stood for re-election, winning by a handy fourteen point margin this time. [not-Haley]'s term was cut short, however, when newly elected President Wolf appointed her to an ambassadorial position in 2016. Bucknell was left to fill in her shoes as Governor.

The remaining two years saw Bucknell backpedal some of [not-Haley]'s decisions, notably when he issued an executive order protecting the flying of the Confederate battle flag on state property. State executive orders, normally reserved for crises, became Bucknell's trademark, as he issued them whenever he could not strong-arm the state legislature into doing his bidding.

In 2018, Bucknell stood for his first election as Governor. It got off to a rocky start: his severe camera shyness, some questionable public remarks, and an attack of PTSD led to a number of gaffes on the campaign trail. However, he leveraged his network of contacts from the statehouse all the way back to his Citadel days to construct strong campaign and fundraising infrastructure. He ran on the motto, "Christian Values, Military Efficiency," making the enactment of heartbeat and bathroom bills the feature of his campaign.

Despite facing a younger and more energetic Democratic challenger in [not-James Smith], Bucknell's chances were regarded as high going into the general election. The gubernatorial debates featured an abundance of interesting moments, leading to national coverage. At one point, Bucknell seemed to zone out entirely for nearly a minute; this was due to a hearing aid malfunction. [not-Smith] made the mistaken of attempting to frame Bucknell as senile, however, which gave the Navy veteran the chance to tout his impeccable military service and sacrifice and accuse the Democrat of disrespect. When the votes were tallied, Bucknell carried South Carolina by almost five points.

Bucknell's first full term in office saw him tighten his grip over the state legislature. Already inundated with Jack's contacts and supporters, Bucknell had used his influence to get even more old friends elected. 6'5" tall and with a piercing stare, Bucknell had no problem intimidating the other state legislators into submission. As such, he was able to proudly sign both a heartbill bill and a bathroom bill into law in 2019. Other achievements from Bucknell's four years on Arsenal Hill include redistricting in 2017, which skewed the state legislature even more in favor of the Republican Party, and increased funding of police and immigration enforcement.

However, Bucknell still has a fractious relationship with the state legislature, and has faced significant pushback even from Republican legislators. Currently the South Carolina GOP is highly divided between hard-line Bucknell supporters and more moderate Republicans, who have stalled various articles of reactionary legislation the Governor would have liked passed. However, the Republicans retain an operational majority which allow Bucknell a degree of flexibility in his governance and the ability to keep his campaign promises and leave a mark on the state.

Bucknell's no-nonsense, military demeanor and his ties to the Citadel gave rise to the nickname of "the Beaufort Bulldog," often shortened to just "the Bulldog," and he is viewed avuncularly by many South Carolinians. Critics have denounced his style of governance as dictatorial.

Bucknell was an early and vocal supporter of Arnold Wolf during the 2016 Republican primary. Jack was reportedly on the shortlist for Wolf's Secretary of Defense, though the position ultimately went to Bernard Porter.

During the 2020 Republican primary Bucknell has been a vocal supporter of Porter, with whom he shares military ties and strongly identifies. His advocacy possibly helped to narrow the margins substantially in the South Carolina primary, although ultimately the state still went to Richardson.

Other Info: After being elected governor, Bucknell attempted to end confusion by re-adopting Wesley as his first name of choice. However, continued interchangeable use of "Wesley," "Wes," and "Jack" have only added to the confusion.

Character State of Origin: North Carolina
Character State of Residence: North Carolina
Character Party Affiliation: Democratic Party
Main Strengths: State-wide political connections, moderate African-American appeal, bipartisan and good fundraiser.
Main Weaknesses: Unenthusiastic and uninspiring, silver-spoon origins story, carpet-bagger (and related scandals), coziness with Republicans in North Carolina.

Biography: Nadine Marchant was born 1948 in Winston-Salem to her parents Gregory and Anna Marchant. The Marchant families history dates back to the mid 19th century, when German settlers arrived in America. Their family settled in what was then Salem and dug in their roots ever since. Her mother, Anna, was the daughter of wealthy industrialist, so never had to work a bone in her life. Her father was an attorney, who operated his own law firm in Salem. Nadine received a well-to-do childhood and entered charter school, as their family could easily afford for Nadine and her two other sisters to attend.

Gregory was a civil rights attorney, acting on behalf African-American clients during and throughout the Civil Rights Movement. Inspired by the work of her father, after finishing her basic education, Nadine went on to Stanford University to study Law in 1966. Although, by this stage the Civil Rights Movement was coming to a close, she too wanted to follow in the footsteps of her father. Gregory had established a good name for himself among the Black population in Winston-Salem, as well as across the state of North Carolina. He earned a reputation of being liberal, yet incredibly professional as to not disturb the sensibilities of the white establishment.

After returning to North Carolina with her Law Degree, Nadine found work in her fathers law firm, often tasked with the menial paperwork and reception-keeping duties. Two years later, in 1972, Nadine met a young man called Daniel McMahon while working for her father. During their dating period, she began to build up through the ranks of her fathers law firm, beginning to take on her own cases. With a few earlier (but minor) victories, this built up her confidence in the field of law. In 1975, her father did something unexpected. Gregory Marchant ran for North Carolina's 5th Congressional District and won. He and his family had a strong background in the local area, that being Winston-Salem, and he won overwhelming among African-American voters.

It was when her father was in Congress that Nadine assumed the leadership of his law firm. Though, still young, and only five years out of law school, the position was largely ceremonial. That same year, she married Daniel McMahon and gave birth to her first child, to which she named Michael Gregory McMahon. Nadine took on Daniel's last name. After her short period in a management position, she was forced to retire to look after her child, as most women did in that period. Despite being absent from the company, she retained an advisory role to the law firm and often helped in building their cases where she could.

Her father built a strong civil rights voting and bill-writing record and was regularly re-election to the 5th Congressional District. A year after having her first child, Nadine had another to Daniel McMahon. She gave birth to Christine Deloris McMahon in 1976. In 1977, Daniel began working for Nadine's father in his Congressional Office in Washington D.C. During this time, and unbeknownst to Nadine or her family, Daniel was cheating on her for an intern working on the Hill.

In 1980, Nadine returned to the workforce. Due to her connections within Washington D.C., through both her husband and father, she secured a job with the National Organisation of Women, later called Legal Momentum, that focused on women's-based lobbying and legal defense fund. She was often used as the face of the organisation, and was appearing on local and national television on behalf of the organisation as its spokeswoman. The family moved to a large house in Morehead City, across the other side of the state, now with both incomes of Daniel and Nadine supporting them. At the same time, they bought multiple other investment properties in the state of North Carolina and Virginia.

It was until 1982 that Nadine discovered that her husband was cheating on her. Rumour was adrift in Washington D.C., and her father reportedly told her about what was happening. Almost immediately, she filed for divorce. She reverted back to Nadine Marchant, had custody over the children and received an promotion at the NOW Legal Fund. The houses were split evenly, though, Nadine kept the property in Morehead City where she could continue to live and work from. Despite the emotional turbulents, things could not have been better for her.

It wasn't long until she met a new man, Erwin Smith, while helping her father in his 1983 re-election campaign. Erwin had been hired as an internal pollster for the campaign, doing contract work. Erwin worked for Black and White Polling, a polling and political consultancy company based in Raleigh, North Carolina, but had offices in Washington D.C. After a year of dating, Erwin proposed to Nadine in 1984 and they got married. Instead of taking his last name, as she did with her previous husband, Nadine took the hyphenated name of Marchant-Smith. It was two years later in 1986 when she had her third child, Kristof Marchant-Smith, first child to Erwin.

In 1991, founded her own law firm in the eastern region of North Carolina. Similarly named to the polling company that her husband still worked for, it was named Black and White Law. She ran this business with a great level of success, hiring a large staff and maintaining a strong record in law circles, both in the state and outside. In 1995, when her father retired from politics after two decades in politics, he urged her to take up his mantle in the political scene. Despite being interested in politics, she declined, instead focusing on her budding law company and her family.

This apathy for running for political office was not permanent, however. With the 2006 Midterm elections approaching, Nadine thought it wise to join the political fray, with whatever backing her last name held still within the North Carolina political climate. In 2005, she retired from her position as CEO of Black and White Law, and plotted a run for North Carolina's 3rd Congressional District. The district was her home, but it was overwhelmingly Republican and she knew that the election would be difficult, if not impossible to win. Still, Nadine ran a high-profile campaign that attracted a lot of local media and some national media, as the daughter of a famous civil rights lawyers and congress people. She lost decisively, 35% to the Republican candidates 65%.

Her failed run did not dampen her desire for politics, however. Her splash into politics had made an impact and when state elections rolled around in North Carolina in 2008, many party insiders were pushing her to run for the vacant 20th Senate District in the North Carolina State Senate. Nadine, though popular among Democrats, did live in the District. After a visit from a State Assemblyman, however, she was convinced to run for the seat. She easily won the primary, with little to no challenge and cruised to an overwhelming victory of 70% in the solid Democratic District. Following her victory, she promised to move to the District amid media scrutiny for her carpet-bagging. After a year of being elected to the State Senate, local media inquired deeper into whether she had actually moved to the District yet. They discovered that Nadine still lived in Morehead City. With the media blowing up how she lied about moving, their family bought a property in the area and she lived there on a part-time basis.

Her initial foray into politics proved that she was a very collaborative and bipartisan legislator. During her first term in office, she secured additional funding for domestic violence charities in her District and was at the forefront of the debate to raise the salaries of school teachers. When 2012 came around, Nadine was re-elected without a hitch. This was the same year that Nathaniel Richardson was elected Governor of the state. The Democratic Caucus in the State Senate was impressed with her success during her first, and with the help of her insider political connections, was nominated as the Minority Whip in the Senate. There, she would earn a reputation of being a fierce, yet fair Whip. It was her work as Whip that was able to flip many more left-leaning State Senators to support Nate Richardson's tax cuts and CCC “Carolina’s Choice Care”, all measures that Nadine supported.

In 2014, the former Minority Leader in the Senate announced that he retire. Nadine ran for the position as the Democratic Minority Leader in the North Carolina State Senate. Almost unanimously, she won the position, with no opposition within the Caucus. It did, however, anger many grass-roots organizers who were demanding for a more left-leaning Minority Leader. She earned a reputation, even among Republicans, as being welcoming to negotiate with. While Minority Leader, she was able to negotiate well with Governor Richardson, though opposing his efforts to strip funding from public education tooth and nail. Nadine stringently opposed the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act, which prevent many LGBTQ people from filing discrimination law suits. Following its passage through the State Senate by the Republican Majority, she lobbied heavily for Nathaniel Richardson to veto the Bill once it reached his desk. Still to this day she retains a cordial relationship with the man.

She couldn't keep doing the job, however. Nadine was personally disillusioned with her lack of power as the Minority Leader, and with very little chance to win the State Senate over she knew that would never have the power she wanted. In 2016, the media began investigating more into her permanent residence. While claiming to live in the 20th Senate District, Nadine still mainly lived in Morehead City, not Durham which is where most people in the District lived. With a mounting campaign from the progressive left against her in her own District, partly due to her carpet-bagging and partly due to her close relationship with Republican's, she decided to not seek re-election. Instead, she announced that she would seek the office of Attorney General of North Carolina. Nadine had a primary challenger nominally to her left, but she defeated him 52 to 48 due to her powerful name recognition.

In 2016, she was running as a Democrat while the relatively popular Nate Richardson was running for re-election as Governor. Nadine tried her best to appeal to the moderate, suburban base, that would be later called 'Nate-Nadine Voters' by the media for their support of a Republican Governor and a Democratic Attorney-General. Nadine was able to out-fundraise her Republican opponent, nearly 2 to 1. Due to this, and her ability to turn out African-American voters in droves because of her and her fathers records, Nadine was elected Attorney-General by 0.7%.

As Attorney-General, she was not one to sit back to use he power. Nadine took keen interest in housing inequality cases, including cases surrounding the discrimination of women and the LGBTQ community. She aggressively supported the Governor in his insistence to remove Confederate Monuments across the state. Her largest action in North Carolina was recouping millions of dollars for the City of Chapel Hill following the destruction of the natural environment by a petrochemical company.

As of 2020, Nadine Marchant-Smith is strongly considering running for either North Carolina Senate or Governorship.

If there were any unfair results so far, it'd been in the Democratic Party. Considering Levi is defeating Dayton in the popular vote, yet she is ahead in the Delegate Count.
Senator Levi Murphy (D-MN)
Chairwoman Lilyana Wolf (R-ME)
J.P. Randy Cramp (R-TX)
Mayor Tammy Tablot (I-NV)

If delegates were allocated proportionately Porter's chances of winning the primary would be close to 0%.

Yes, unless your character actively votes against whips they win their uncontested primaries.
