Trump, the republicans, the democrats can want to preserve the traditional way of life. However, the demographics have changed so much that the traditional population does not exist anymore. The outcome will not be what people expect. There soon will be no majority demographically. This frightens people. It does not mean that the democrats or republicans will remain in control. Without a majority people will have to share power or have a lot of problems. Guns won't help, claiming you are in control won't help. The change that is coming will be a shock to the system for everyone. Only coalitions will hold power. There can be little supremacy in this kind of setting. Traditional control by one group will erode.

Sure there is. It means that in order to hold power, you have to be more inclusive, on the right, you invite in the hardcore-- the goldbugs, the white supremacists, the sovereign citizens and other crazies. It means you get a weird populism with some very unsavory politics. The same is true of the left, you get communists, hardcore greens, and other fringe people. You can't rely completely on the old majorities and you have to reach out to people who many people consider fringe. This part of the reason you get populists like Trump or Ocasio-Cortez.

Who the hell thought any aspect of his political career was a good idea? He's been on an even faster upward trajectory than Obama, but as far as I can see there's really nothing behind the suit-- I know I'm not the target audience, but usually I can at least tell when someone has charisma or political ability. Hawley seems very much like the right's knockoff of some Democrats' hopes for Joe Kennedy.

Regardless of their security being terrible, the proper thing to do in a scenario like this is to report the vulnerability to the platform, not just releasing it to the public immediately. If they don’t take action or actively go after you for discovering a vulnerability, then public disclosure is perhaps acceptable, but never before that point, and releasing all the data you could access is pretty much never okay.

The problem is many of the security groups are aware of weaknesses the same time the “real” hackers know about them. Reputable security groups tend to try and work with a company if they happen to find something bad. If the company isn’t responsive; they force it by publishing the issue, without the details needed to get through.

It happens more then you think and it goes that way as businessmen tend to be more concerned about profit and plugging security holes can get costly.

It’s not too hard to see why he was such a rising star in the party before this to be honest—young, suave and charismatic, educated, populist—everything the GOP was trying to be to expand its base. He was popular and rewarded for a reason.
