Background: The only left-wing team in Ferdullaele, the wealthy capital state that had control over Farfadillis until only a decade ago. Why are they the only left-wing team? Because the team is still heavily associated with the syndicate that founded it, so they have by far the largest working-class fanbase outside Ruland. Left-wing as they may be, though, they're very much Ferdullaelan nationalists like almost all other teams in the capital (don't ask them why their roster features so many non-Ferdullaelans). So, basically, they're hated outside Ferdullaele for being xenophobes and hated inside Ferdullaele for being filthy commies. They relish this.
Notes: Ausharmuj Marusi are a solid team, but the new format means they will likely have to content themselves with a lower-mid table finish. They have a fairly solid squad, only really lacking in defense, where der Efer is the only player who doesn't look out of place at this level. They lack pace, too, which is not good news. What is good news, however, is that Lojes de Sájajo, World Cup winner and self-declared fan of the team, has made his return to Farfadillis to help them perform. With this new signing, la Sindica's attack actually looks fairly terrifying! They've got a nice blend of players from various up-and-coming national teams. Last season, they even outperformed Avenida Principal and Avenida Leal, rather unexpectedly. We'll have to see how they fare, but it's worth bearing in mind that they don't strictly lack quality: there's just too much of it to go around in the league they find themselves in now.

Background: Though Avenida Leal arrived comparatively late to the whole successful Avenida thing, they're nowadays arguably the second-best one historically, and some might argue the best one at the moment. They're a club of working class roots, much like La Nueva Avenida. In their case, they're heavily tied to the wood industry. This rather bizarrely puts them at odds with the rest of the Avenidas which, while more right-leaning, are much more environmental, going so far as to have their shared stadium in the forest. Silly chants about deforestation ensue. While the relationship between the Avenidas is bizarre, Avenida Leal can boast the title of "not very hated outside their home state", thanks to their many charitative efforts during the times of crisis. Notably, to date, none of their fans have died in clashes against Rulandese fans, with only a few exceptions.
Notes: Last season was an enormous failure for this squad. They have the talent; that much is clear. But they have thus far proved unable to get much out of it. Constantino Martínez has been handed one last chance to make things work by virtue of his standing as a club legend... but he better get to work. Travis Grimaldi, Krysia Bailey, Nevaeh Cathar... this is not a team that should be struggling to finish above hastily-put-together revolutionary movements and Ferdullaelan teams. The good news is that, as a relatively slow team, they have a much better match-up against the Banijan teams, which could prove an advantage for IFCF qualification.
Avenida Principal

Background: Avenida Principal is, you guessed it, one of the Avenidas. They are following in Avenida Victoria's footsteps: they've been in a clear downturn for about ten seasons now. Bizarrely, they're generally agreed to be the richest team in the country. In the past, they used to have the most foreigners in the league. Nowadays, well... they've had to change plans, and it hasn't helped them one bit. Politically, as the most affluent team in the nation, and having some of the most affluent fans outside Ferdullaele, you can guess where their loyalties lie...
Notes: If La Querida and their astonishing utter lack of competence didn't exist, this team would have to fear relegation. There just aren't that many talented players, and management doesn't seem particularly inclined to splash cash in an attempt to fix that. They've signed one player in Vdaran David Xeniadis. With him, the squad features four quality players in him, Bereket, Figueroa and Martelli. Bereket and Figueroa are old, and their young talents are not developing as they hoped they would. After last season, they've shown the door to Llorca and promoted a random youth coach. Fredeluces is definitely in over his head. Suffice to say the future doesn't look good for los Caballeros.
Busembe Timberwolves

Background: Another side who are owned by a foreign investor. They are owned by the Taeshani pizza conglomerate, Fadron Pizza, who have owned the side for a few seasons now. Fully committed to South Kitara, the Timberwolves are a team without much history, but who are a success story. One of the few Banijan professional teams to have started after the beginning of the BSL, they have worked their way up from basement dwellers to consistent mid-table status, with a pair of trophies in there. A powerful story with the potentially problematic message that money can do anything. They could not be denied one of Banija’s 10 spots in the S-FPL. They are a club that loves attacking, and their fanbase is in love with their popular manager, Bob Ubermanager. An almost excessively confident manager who throws all sorts of players forward, their fans embody his attitude, with their ultras group “The Wolfpack” declaring themselves favorites to win the inaugural edition of the S-FPL. Also, their fans are possibly the most violent in Banija.
Notes: Another interesting, ultra-attacking side. They'll fit right in. The team is built around Kiggwe Basamula, who for the past few years has refused a move to a bigger club in Banija because he likes the Timberwolves so much. This season, he’s (supposedly) finally got a worthy strike partner in Jason Þórhallursson, a burly #9 who can do it all up top, and who is only 21. Those 2 are expected to dominate an emphatic Timberwolves output. They even signed World Cup winner Amadi Uche to help in the central midfield. They’re absolutely dreadful in the back though, and that makes their ceiling the edge of Challenger’s Cup contention. The bottom line is you could almost mistake them for a Farf team.
Busukuma AC
Nickname: The Promised Club (in reference to Busukuma's nickname, "The Promised City")

Background: This one's known as the club of big business. Lukwago Field is known for having plenty of suites for businessmen to visit, and it is traditionally a right-wing club in a very left-wing city. Generally attracts support from members of the Royal Family... you get the idea. Royalist dipshits, is what the Farves would call them. The Kabaka himself was a big fan before ascending to the throne. He's now "neutral". Yeah, sure. They are one of four clubs in Banija that are owned by foreigners, as Quebecois investor Jean-Francois Joffre bought the team just before the end of the final BSL season. They are generally ripped for having a more “corporate friendly crowd”—fewer ultras, a ban on smoke and flares, the team’s fans are generally known for their relative quietness in comparison to Banija’s other passionate fanbases.
Notes: This is... not that impressive of a squad? Don't get us wrong, it can go toe-to-toe with the best teams on the league on a good day, but they were having a difficult enough time "trying" to win the BSL... yeah, IFCF qualification's a much more realistic goal nowadays. Nonetheless, they've got some great players in Lupe Enriquez, Cassadagan icon, World Cup winner Vínseslâdís Wìjìnì and Parker midfielder Declan Mason. They've also got Kalle Bjørnsson who, while not talented, can break a few legs for some good ol' negative reinforcement whenever the team's being badly beaten.
Dí Maozöxê

Background: The second-biggest club in Ruland in terms of success, and the one with the biggest fanbase, though Mâ Âlâmëómë fans would never admit it. Dí Maozöxê is a club founded by uranium miners, which means they have a massive following in all of Ruland, especially in the capital. That may sound like a non-sequitur but it really isn't. Their fans are some of the most passionate and violent in the country. Though they lean heavily left, as does most of Ruland nowadays, they lean more towards chaos than anything else. Their clashes with Mâ Âlâmëómë almost always take a few people with them. They also have a huge enmity with, well, the rest of Farfadillis as a whole, much like their rivals. Being Rulandese and successful will tend to do that.
Notes: There's one narrative here that eclipses all others. One has to feel bad for Alois Chiliarch, a very solid young prospect, going from strength to strength, bagging them in consistently... and then, without warning, one of the best players in the history of the game sign for your upper-mid table club. What's worse, he's a club legend. Yeah, Xíxì Êns is back and, though he may not be in his prime at the age of 34, he is likely to be one of the best players in the league. The rest of the team features plenty of capable players, too. Labeling them title contenders in the new league might seem a tad much, but if Xíxì hits his stride... well, safe to say they'll be a force to be reckoned with.
Herzegovina City FC

Background: This is arguably Banija's biggest club, as they have had the most success out of any in the BSL era. Winners of 5 league titles in the past 10 seasons. They are a club located in Herzegovina City, one of Banija's biggest cities and at the heart of Banija's dominant religion, Puritan Mormonism. Due to location, they are a club and a fanbase that is generally considered both right-wing and fairly religious, as shown by their logo. Their fans are known for their general arrogance, which has truly blossomed with their recent success. Of course, people from the Moravica region are generally known for their superiority complex, so this is a general feature of the Moravican sides in this league. Kobe Azizi, the present center-right Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Banija, is a widely known supporter of the club. Fans usually resort to accusations of heresy in order to thrash other team's stadiums.
Notes: It's very, very hard to pick out a favorite for this first season. There's too many variables that factor into it. However, HCFC might just be it, by the breadth of a hair. This is a very complete team, with a couple of stand-out players in, chief among them none other than Meghan Walcott. They play some nice offensive football, and their mouthwatering attack is likely to have to adapt to the many chances they'll be getting to crack open Farf defenses. Not all of it, though, because they've signed Farf international Edmün Çídh off of another team in the title race, and he's very much used to facing Farf defenses, what with topping the goal charts last season in the FFL. Big dick move from the club.
Hoima Warriors

Background: Previously known as Banija's most "chaotic" club—which, if true, would've made them the eleventh most chaotic club in the league—Hoima has now forged a reputation based on shrewd management and unexpected success. Their fanbase is the most avowedly left wing in Banija, appropriately reflecting the city's views. Their working class fanbase can get very passionate and very rowdy, filling the biggest stadiums on a regular basis. Well-known for being quite the rude visitors, one can only wonder whether they'll find themselves outmatched in the new league.
Notes: This is a very solid team. It's no wonder they were the BSL's last champions. However, there's one stand-out fact about this team: it lives and dies by Gitonga Kahara's performances, and the Banijan star is getting old. Sure, he's a national hero, and his performances at the World Cup mean the Warriors have little to worry about... but do they? The guy's 36. No team should be reliant on a 36-year-old, and the transition to the S-FPL is going to be tough for all teams involved. Their performance this season will be key in order to secure more money to splash on bright talents, because Gitonga's age is a symptom of a larger problem: the entrie squad is pretty old. Either way, a solid team and, without a doubt, a title contender.

This is a club that values attacking, as their Season 12 BSL title saw them score 123 goals as a team en route to a league title, leading to a great +90 goal differential and a league title. They have picked a good time to rise up the rankings as well, as they were able to parlay that last season into becoming Banija’s first ever international club champion, winning the Atlantian Oceania Champions League. Istria City is certainly the bigger club in Istria, and it is supported by primarily a middle class fanbase. The likelihood of seeing violence or anything crazy like that around this club is small, but they are a club that gets very angry at any sort of hint that Herzegovina City is a bigger club than they are. Doesn't make it any less true, though.
Notes: If you were to just look at the names in this squad, you'd come away thinking they're a strong team that can very realistically aim for a respectable mid-table finish. That's not the case, however. Our Banijan footy experts tell us they're actually in the title race, and are most likely second-best in Banija. How? Unsurprisingly, it's the old "good team chemistry plus a cohesive gameplan" trick. You know, sum of the parts and whatnot. Basically cheating. Either way, watch out for Huitema-Omeasoo. The young star could be one to terrorize defenses in the league for years to come.

Background: This is one of Banija’s traditional big clubs, they consistently do well in the transfer market and are always out competing for titles. The only big league club in Banija’s second largest city, many say that they have a legitimate claim to being the most popular club in the country. Jinja City is located in North Central interior Banija, and is situated along the mighty Jinja River, which starts on Banija’s west coast just south of Herzegovina, and flows west to east across the entire country. As Banija’s biggest interior club and also with a pair of BSL titles, expectations are always generally high at the club. Their star is likely to shrink down with the S-FPL, as they are behind clubs like Hoima, Istria City, and Herzegovina City at the moment.
Notes: The Vatan Ercetin-Xilit-Zaxac Yol connection has been the most valuable in Banijan football the past few years. With both players above 30, however, it is predicted to slow down. Xilit-Zaxac still figures to be toward the top of the goalscoring charts. Expect Madison McClain, a new striker, to help take the pressure and attention off of the Qusmi striker. Musa Gaye is expected to step up in a big way in the central midfield. Nonetheless, this is a mix of old, good players and not old, not particularly good players. Overall? They're not in an enviable position, and there's a decent chance they'll be the biggest victim of the S-FPL, but only time will tell.

They have spent the last few years rising, and feel that the S-FPL will be a good place for them to truly start to reach new heights. Over the past few seasons, they have had a consistent string of sellouts, and rumor has they will build themselves a new stadium in Sisonke soon, with a capacity closer to the 45-50,000 range to fit their new found status. The fans generally like to term themselves as the "sixth member of the Power 5", whether accurate or not. They truly believe that, with a little bit of luck, they’ll be able to challenge this league’s biggest clubs and possibly compete for a trophy during the upcoming season. Bit pie-in-the-sky, but hey, stranger things have happened.
Notes: A very solid team: definitely one that could aspire to the title with enough luck... if Banija and Farfadillis hadn't combined their league systems. They've probably got IFCF qualification in the bag, but aiming for the title is a very tall order. They just don't have any depth. A serious injury to Jetvanna, Kaba or Mickel could very well spell an end to their season. But hey, with twice as many IFCF spots, they can afford to not be as great relative to the rest of the league, and build on moderate success, so not everything's so bleak. That trophy case will have to stay empty for a while, though...

Background: Initially a front for a Rulandese nationalist revolutionary movement, Lâ Lüs are now the sovereign rulers of the Rulandese region. Exciting politics aside, this does leave the team at a rather odd place with regards to their place in the league. The FFFF has entirely ignored the fact that one of its teams now rules over what is, for all intents and purposes, a nation and the RBSA has deemed it best to stay away entirely from Farf matters... so, as a result, the team's sort of continued playing? They've fulfilled their purpose entirely, but inertia's carrying them forward still.
Notes: They're now missing their two best players after selling them in order to finance their revolutionary struggle. It worked out well enough off-the-pitch, but it will not translate to success on it! They don't have any particularly talented players, although most of them are very technical and devlishly fast. They are about evenly-matched with Avenida Principal and Ausharmuj Marusi, but it is likely that they will struggle to find their form this season, specially with most of the squad also spending their time suppressing counterrevolutionary movements. Remarkably, Rutheford and de Urueña are no exceptions to this. One has to wonder how they wound up in this mess.

Background: The most successful of the Avenida clubs, and the second-most successful club in the nation, La Nueva Avenida are a club focused on success. While their supporters have a bit of a xenophobic right-wing (ecological) streak at times, the truth is people of every type support them in their home state, purely because of how successful they've been historically. After a dark period of not winning anything, they finally managed to win the league again five seasons ago, and they're building on that to retake the crown that Mâ Âlâmëómë stole from them a few decades ago... to limited success. Let's be honest, it's an uphill battle, now made even more uphill by the new format. The club is nowadays the darling of Alex Terán, president-for-life of Farolera, so they've been getting some extra funds, with some bread and circus likely in Alex's mind.
Notes: The departure of Emiliano Gallegas is a massive hit for the team, yes, but they've not stayed quiet and resigned themselves to losing their best player with no pay-off. Ezo Gicquel is a brilliant addition to the defense, though it remains to be seen whether he will manage to adapt to a country that plays what is effectively the polar opposite of Ko-orenite football. Replacing Gallegas himself we have Hồ Vũ Thanh Hoàng, who looks like he could be a world beater one day. Ÿya Tuuvyr looks like a possible future Mrii NTer, and the same goes for Kaia Larriet-Cortes. Up front, de Zúñiga's olethal, and Oroso even moreso. Safe to say this is a brilliantly-talented squad. Thjorgias can rest easy in that regard. However, with rumors of Terán managing everything behind the scenes, and with further rumors that he'll settle for nothing but greatness... the pressure will be on.
La Querida
Nickname: los Encorvados (the Hunchbacks)

Background: A very young club from what used to be the state of Pacifista, historically one of the worst states when it came to quality of football. Pacifista is now a part of Farolera, though, so maybe Pacifista will suddenly start producing better footballers. That's how it works. Anyway: the La Querida project was very simple on the outset: found a club that the whole city of Pacifista can support, and pour money into it until it works. It worked far better than anyone expected: the whole city has rallied behind them, elated at the prospect of long-term relevance in the Farf football scene. Unsurprisingly, they lack an identity beyond being from Pacifista and having been named after a grocery store. Older, more set-in-their-ways Pacifistans tend to look down on supporters of the team as plastics.
Notes: After the disaster that was last season, finishing dead last by nineteen points and on a minus seventy-nine goal difference... yeah, La Querida fans were not expecting to even get into the top flight again, let alone... yeah, you get it. They're in way over their heads. To compensate for this, they've splashed zero cash, but nonetheless signed many free agents that likely will not cut it. Their defense is shambolic, and their one decent attacking player is affectionately nicknamed el tronco (the tree trunk). Anartz Salayeta will probably score half their goals, which might just turn out to be like seven or eight. If you haven't caught on yet, they will finish dead last, and there isn't the faintest chance that they won't.
Lakiska SC
Nickname: Bandicoots

Background: This is the only Busogan club in the S-FPL, and likely the club with the lowest resources outside of Farfadillis. Arguments about this club’s inclusion in the inaugural season of the S-FPL were difficult, although a strong on field performance from them last season, just at the right time, forced their inclusion. It is interesting to note, however, that they are one of two Banijan clubs in the S-FPL without a single trophy in the BSL era of Banijan football, the other being Kitara AA. They are, in contrast to almost all other teams in Banija and Farfadillis, focused on a fierce defense. It is, unfortunately, a club not known for rowdy support, as ultras groups for this club can never seem to stick around for more than a few errors. Still, they will do whatever they can to make themselves a permanent fixture in the S-FPL.
Notes: This team is built around defense. Their core player is Carlton Sandt, their Sarzonian international goalkeeper. They’ve kept most of the team that finished in 5th last season, a Lakiska SC best. Expect plenty of responsibility to be heaped upon Govind Nigam anchoring the back line. They won’t score a lot, but when the goals do come, look for Neuheim to feature. It remains to be seen whether their unattractive style, which is bound to draw ire from the other Farf teams, will sink them or make them swim. They are, however, one of the worst teams in the league, only claiming to be decidedly better than... yeah, no points for being better than La Querida, to be honest.
Mâ Âlâmëómë

Background: The one Farf club that any football fan worth their salt should be able to recognize. Mâ Âlâmëómë have had some of the best squads in the history of club football. Among the players that have worn green and black are: Mêndêlöíndçêl, Einarsson, Kâí, Etezadi, Aurora, Wínrôuge, Rainsford, Gosforth, Campbell, Zubiri, Shrike, Tzâín, Röènôùjýâ, Na'Kale, Söh, Wçêíl, Killanen, Soria Luna... you get the idea. As a Rulandese club, they are utterly despised outside of Ruland. As the best Rulandese club, they are utterly despised inside of Ruland as well. Their fans, numerous and very violent, wouldn't give this up for the world. They were orignially founded as a loosely cultish collection of followers of one of the many Farf pagan faiths, one which venerated “Mother Earth”, better known as Mâ Âlâmëómë in the local language. True to their roots, they don't like the prevalence of uranium mining in Ruland. Unsurprisingly, they have many ties with past and present Rulandese revolutionary movements. However, to you and me, dear international reader, they're just that Farf behemoth nobody can spell or pronounce.
Notes: This is, unsurprisingly, a very scary squad. Ígnîgo Çí Xôrí in midfield will take control of every game, Abdi, Labeaga and Axelrod-Conway are quality defenders, Zsase, Naqvi and Arambauzá are proven at the top level, and losing Edmün Çídh's no matter cause now they've got Latona Basilisk up front! Their football is fluid, direct and exciting. Yup, it looks like Mâ Âlâmëómë will continue to be a top team for years to come, even in a much more competitive league like this one. Having important NTers from the top 3 nations according to the KPB rankings is no joke.
Mynda Electra

Background: Mynda Electra have an interesting culture. They are Banija’s first club to have been bought by a foreign owner, with Electra Corporation of Damukuni(a public utility) having owned the team for quite a long time. Mynda is a surprisingly large city, a city of 800,000 but located at the heart of Banija’s smallest region, Aksum. Residents of Mynda claim they fail to get respect from national media, despite their large size, and you can see it in how their fans operate. Claiming Herzegovina City as their chief rival when they don’t acknowledge them as a rival back—is there no higher form of disrespect in the sport?—and, although Askatasuna FC is also in Aksum, they’ve never seriously considered each other rivals. A fanbase conditioned to disrespect, their culture loves “Mynda men” and is generally distrusting of outsiders, although they have embraced the foreign ownership group and their Chromatik manager, Daniel Lucas.
Notes: Another team that will fight off relegation. Xavier Melchoir is the player of note here: he’s an attacking midfielder who makes great long passes, and can move the ball quickly. But Lucas has a tall task. They're better than Lakiska and Umbazi, but a few injuries to their best players could spell doom for them. At any rate, anything besides a mid-table finish is pretty much a pipe dream. Such is life for medium-sized clubs: the best they can hope for is a boring season.
René Skaé

Background: Ever since René Skaé got promoted to the FFL, Szoirsian football has been slowly and very steadily rising through the ranks. First they produced NT-caliber players like Zsolgar Zsase, Kósa Bajnok and, most famously, Lázár Eleonóra. Then, René Skaé started following suit, eventually winning back-to-back FFL titles, mostly thanks to a certain Faragó rue Cazade. Off-the-pitch, René Skaé is quite the sensation in Szoirsia, with most anyone in the desert-that-some-people-believe-to-be-a-nation supporting the club. They're the second most left-leaning (now ex-)state, so their fans naturally lean that way as well. Their fans are remarkably mild, perhaps owing to the temperatures of their state, which is 90% a huge fucking desert (as we have made clear) where things you didn't know could melt do melt. Ferdullaelans and Farolerans resent, fear and envy them, because Szoirsians are not supposed to be better at football than them.
Notes: This team is still remarkably young, and far too good once you take that into account. Tulaki Rauogba, Lőrensz Ziczi, Lajos Éwanjé-Épée, Ljuba Buczvarov... hell, new signing Anwar Dawit looks a tad old, and he's only 25! Don't make unfunny jokes about factorials. Critics will argue it is a bit of a waste that the team's best player is a fullback (Darijen Vesele), and it's a fair point, but the rest of the starting eleven ranges from good to great, so it's hard not to view the Szoirsians as title contenders. They're not at their strongest, sure, but that's only because they no longer have rue Cazade.
Rülândéá Kôstä
Nickname: tâ Kôstä (those from the Coast)
Derogatory nickname(s): Mey Kôsâng (Little Brother, in reference to the two bigger Rulandese clubs), Pêskätörès (Fishermen)

Background: Rülândéá Kôstä are massive in the Rulandese coast. When we say massive, we mean truly massive. Most everyone in the city's coast supports the team named after the city's coast which, to be fair, is not exactly shocking. Their supporters have very strong ties to the revolutionary movements of the last two decades, and are violent even by Rulandese standards. Their stadium, partially destroyed by bombings, will probably pack twice its capacity every game. Surprisingly, tâ Kôstä have a very friendly relationship with all other Rulandese clubs, seeing them more as family than rivals. Teams from outside Ruland, though? Well, that's a very different, much bloodier story... The fans will be subdued for now, though, after the team unexpectedly won its first top flight title last season.
Notes: They may have won the league out of nowhere, but how they did it is not a mystery. Their midfield is fearsome: a Québecois international, an Astograthian international, a Starblaydi international, the best takilante in the league and a young, pacey and energetic winger. Up front, Röémün Çídh starts for Farfadillis, and tore apart the league last season. In defense, Savojar Tjova is really tall and also possibly good, while young prospect Gëngüdó Pìgülôçô is going from strength to strength. This is a fearsome team that's flying high, but they should be wary of flying too close to the sun and falling prey to complacency. They may be the reigning Farf champions, but that does not necessarily imply they are the best Farf team.
Umbazi Metropolitan SC
Nickname: Flamingos

Background: A small, financially impotent club from one of Banija’s most rural regions that is, unsurprisingly, right-wing club than many, if not all, of their rivals. But while this club has an energetic fanbase that hugs the national flag tighter than probably any other in the sport, it is one that is realistic about their chances of staying up in this league. They are the most likely to experience culture shock from the introduction of Farf teams to the pyramid. It's a good thing that they've got a good chance of getting relegated, then.
Notes: This is, simply put, not a good team. They're not La Querida levels of terrible, but they're prime candidates for relegation nonetheless. There isn't a single truly good player here. A couple of young prospects, sure, and by a couple we mean two, Koba Konateh and Ülì Èsàsè. There really isn't much to say about them. They play neutral football—which really just means defensive football in this day and age—so maybe they'll get the occasional Nepharan cheering for them. But there really isn't anything... workable, here. Hey, at least they'll beat La Querida. Probably.

Background: The only left-wing team in Ferdullaele, the wealthy capital state that had control over Farfadillis until only a decade ago. Why are they the only left-wing team? Because the team is still heavily associated with the syndicate that founded it, so they have by far the largest working-class fanbase outside Ruland. Left-wing as they may be, though, they're very much Ferdullaelan nationalists like almost all other teams in the capital (don't ask them why their roster features so many non-Ferdullaelans). So, basically, they're hated outside Ferdullaele for being xenophobes and hated inside Ferdullaele for being filthy commies. They relish this.
Notes: The defense really let down the team last season. As a result, the club has decided to make one key change in the line-up: Oskar Holsteiner makes his way back to his boyhood club, hoping to pull off a Xíxì Êns. The defense has remained the same, although the bench has seen new arrivals which could break into the first team if the starters' form continues into this season. Honestly, it's hard to imagine them doing well this season: the first season fo the S-FPL was not kind to them, and there's no indication of, well, anything having changed. They have a few good players here and there (namely, World Cup winners Lojes de Sájajo and Oskar Holsteiner as well as NT starters like Joe Green and Joaquim Martell), but so do most teams in the league!
Avenida Leal

Background: Though Avenida Leal arrived comparatively late to the whole successful Avenida thing, they're nowadays arguably the second-best one historically, and some might argue the best one at the moment. They're a club of working class roots, much like La Nueva Avenida. In their case, they're heavily tied to the wood industry. This rather bizarrely puts them at odds with the rest of the Avenidas which, while more right-leaning, are much more environmental, going so far as to have their shared stadium in the forest. Silly chants about deforestation ensue. While the relationship between the Avenidas is bizarre, Avenida Leal can boast the title of "not very hated outside their home state", thanks to their many charitative efforts during the times of crisis. Notably, to date, none of their fans have died in clashes against Rulandese fans, with only a few exceptions.
Notes: It's very hard trying to predict how they'll fare this season. On the one hand, their eighth-place finish last season is a good sign. On the other... the team just looked like it didn't (and couldn't!) click for most of the season. Does this mean they've got better players than they let on? Or does it mean they were stupidly lucky and will crash and burn now? When you read the squad list, it seems like the answer is neither. Maybe their luck and their failure to play as a cohesive unit conspired to make them finish in the exact place they would've been expected to.
Avenida Principal
Nickname: los Caballeros (the Knights)

Background: Avenida Principal is, you guessed it, one of the Avenidas. They are following in Avenida Victoria's footsteps: they've been in a clear downturn for about ten seasons now. Bizarrely, they're generally agreed to be the richest team in the country. In the past, they used to have the most foreigners in the league. Nowadays, well... they've had to change plans, and it hasn't helped them one bit. Politically, as the most affluent team in the nation, and having some of the most affluent fans outside Ferdullaele, you can guess where their loyalties lie...
Notes: La Querida fans do not envy Avenida Principal fans. Why, you may ask? Because while La Querida fans are mostly content to watch their team get destroyed week in week out and generally not amount to anything, AP fans have found the last decade tortuous, purely by virtue of being in mid-table purgatory permanently. They used to challenge for the titles and be a big club. To date, they're the only Farf club with top flight IFCF/UICA success! Fans don't even get the excitement of a (successful) relegation battle. They only get to watch their team be forgettable. With that in mind, this team pretty much encapsulates all of this. Leandro Martelli, David Xeniadis and maybe (this ancient version of) Lemuel Bereket are the only two players that would've made it into past AP squads. They're not bad! They're not getting relegated, that's for sure. As long as La Querida are here, that's a certainty. But maybe a relegation battle some years down the line will bring excitement to the fans for the first time in a while.
Avenida Victoria

Background: The first big Avenida team. Of the big ones, the smallest. Most Avenida Victoria fans are still proud of how their team helped destroy the Ferdullaele monopoly of the league back in season 3, after decades of total hegemony from the capital city's club. Success was short-lived for Avenida Victoria, though: they only won the FFL in seasons 3 and 4. They've been chasing that high ever since, and one has to admire their fans, as they somehow haven't given up hope. Now back in the top flight after mysteriously making it back despite there being no records of a second-tier of Farf football being played lasy season, they'll be looking to claw their way back to the top (although mid-table would be a fantastic start). They have a very intense rivalry with La Nueva Avenida—the only rivalry in Farfadillis comparable to lâ Rülândéá Kâlâsïk. El Clásico, as the fans call it, is always a very heated affair, and red cards tend to fly.
Notes: Making a prediction here is very difficult because we don't have much to go off of. They apparently did well last season? No way to know. No footage of the players, no records of how well they did. Some of these names we do know, however, and they are ok but not great. Seeing as it's unlikely that Avenida Victoria have simultaneously gotten a lot better, mainly because that would imply there tons of S-FPL tier Farolerans not signed for any professional team, it's probable they'll sink back down. Not this season, of course, as La Querida are surely much worse than them.
Busembe Timberwolves

Background: Another side who are owned by a foreign investor. They are owned by the Taeshani pizza conglomerate, Fadron Pizza, who have owned the side for a few seasons now. Fully committed to South Kitara, the Timberwolves are a team without much history, but who are a success story. One of the few Banijan professional teams to have started after the beginning of the BSL, they have worked their way up from basement dwellers to consistent mid-table status, with a pair of trophies in there. A powerful story with the potentially problematic message that money can do anything. They could not be denied one of Banija’s 10 spots in the S-FPL. They are a club that loves attacking, and their fanbase is in love with their popular manager, Bøb Übermanager. An almost excessively confident manager who throws all sorts of players forward, their fans embody his attitude, with their ultras group “The Wolfpack” declaring themselves favorites to win the second edition of the S-FPL. They made a similar prediction last season; it didn't pan out and this one won't either. Also, their fans are possibly the most violent in Banija.
Notes: Going into last season, Kiggwe Basamula was expected to be the team's star. He played pretty well, sure, but he was completely eclipsed by Jason Þórhallursson, who managed to even get into the Best Eleven despite playing for a very mediocre team. Their defense sucks: it sucked last season and it will probably suck this season as well. They have at least changed some of it. However, the changes do seem a little suspect. To put it simply, nineteen-year-old Chuks Uchie hopefully won't mind his first season of professional football consisting of organizing the backline of an ultra-attacking team in a league where half the teams are from Farfadillis. As always, though, Übermanager's side is bound entertain, and at worst the fans will be able to find solace in that.
Busukuma AC

Background: This one's known as the club of big business. Lukwago Field is known for having plenty of suites for businessmen to visit, and it is traditionally a right-wing club in a very left-wing city. Generally attracts support from members of the Royal Family... you get the idea. Royalist dipshits, is what the Farves would call them. The Kabaka himself was a big fan before ascending to the throne. He's now "neutral". Yeah, sure. They are one of four clubs in Banija that are owned by foreigners, as Quebecois investor Jean-Francois Joffre bought the team just before the end of the final BSL season. They are generally ripped for having a more “corporate friendly crowd”—fewer ultras, a ban on smoke and flares, you get the idea. The team’s fans are generally known for their relative quietness in comparison to Banija’s other passionate fanbases.
Notes: A good, but comparatively mediocre squad. They've got a few great players here and there, but last season showed just how out of their depth they can look at times. They did eventually qualify for the ChC, but they were very unconvincing throughout. It's on Andrea Vardalos to make the most out of this squad while keeping in check her developing crippling addictions, but fans shouldn't hold out much hope. The one thing that might give fans some hope is that most of the older Farf fans seem to be wary of what Cu Roi Garrard can do, per his past at René Skaé, but it's unlikely the Brenecian can turn a mediocre team into a truly good one; he's just not that kind of player. Overall, however, they're not a bad team—no team featuring Parrott, Enriquez, Mason, Wìjìnì and Garrard can be.
Dí Maozöxê

Background: The second-biggest club in Ruland in terms of success, and the one with the biggest fanbase, though Mâ Âlâmëómë fans would never admit it. Dí Maozöxê is a club founded by uranium miners, which means they have a massive following in all of Ruland, especially in the capital. That may sound like a non-sequitur but it really isn't. Their fans are some of the most passionate and violent in the country. Though they lean heavily left, as does most of Ruland nowadays, they lean more towards chaos than anything else. Their clashes with Mâ Âlâmëómë almost always take a few people with them. They also have a huge enmity with, well, the rest of Farfadillis as a whole, much like their rivals. Being Rulandese and successful will tend to do that.
Notes: Was last season Xíxì Êns' swan song? The answer is no because he hasn't retired. He seems intent on going out with a whimper, not a bang. If he can keep up last season's form, lôs Rébélés will no doubt be among the favorites to win the league. However, that's a massive if when he's just turned 36. What's worse, complacency is an enormous risk: Dí Maozöxê, while moderately successful, are not a team used to success, and there's a good chance it will show. For now, however, the players can enjoy a level of adoration most of them won't be used to—and maybe never imagined possible. And hey, they've earned it.
Herzegovina City FC

Background: This is arguably Banija's biggest club, as they had the most success out of any in the BSL era. Winners of 5 league titles in the past 10 seasons. They are a club located in Herzegovina City, one of Banija's biggest cities and at the heart of Banija's dominant religion, Puritan Mormonism. Due to location, they are a club and a fanbase that is generally considered both right-wing and fairly religious, as shown by their crest. Their fans are known for their general arrogance, which has truly blossomed with their recent success. Of course, people from the Moravica region are generally known for their superiority complex, so this is a general feature of the Moravican sides in this league. Kobe Azizi, the present center-right Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Banija, is a widely known supporter of the club. Fans usually resort to accusations of heresy in order to thrash other team's stadiums.
Notes: Yes, this is still arguably the best team in the league on paper. No, they did not manage to prove that on the pitch on their fist go in this league. However, they did look like they could turn into the best team at any point. Their form was just too irregular. It's possible there wasn't any single reason for it: sometimes shit just happens. Either way, you'd be a fool to think this team won't, at the very least, nail a CL spot (specially now that Banijan teams get three). Meghan Walcott and Edmün Çídh up front are arguably the most dangerous pair in the league, while their already-strong defense has been reinforced with a Valladar international. The midfield is very promising, too. If they're not favorites now, there's still a good chance they'll be favorites in a few seasons' time.
Herzegovina Phoenix

Background: Phoenix are one of Banija's youngest clubs, without a ton of history. They're Banija's biggest club to only have formed in the BSL era. They are in Herzegovina City's southern suburbs, and constantly live in the shadow of their local rivals. Many thought that they would be chosen to be part of the original Banijan 10 to be in the S-FPL, but were passed over by better moneyed interests like Busembe and Mynda. The club is generally supported by upper middle class suburbanites, so they have that sort of 'posh' atmosphere at their club, except for derbies, which can turn violent.
Notes: While they unsurprisingly dominated the lower league to earn promotion to this league, they'll have a battle trying to stay up top. There aren't worse Banijan teams in this league but, fortunately for them, that means they're not expected to get relegated: Lakiska are arguably worse. Not much worse, mind: they'll have to fight to stay afloat, you can be sure of that. You can think of them as a slightly better, slightly less mind-numbingly boring version of their Busogan counterparts.
Hoima Warriors

Their fanbase is the most avowedly left wing in Banija, appropriately reflecting the city's views. Their working class fanbase can get very passionate and very rowdy, filling the biggest stadiums on a regular basis. Well-known in Banija for being quite the rude visitors, and also well-known in Farfadillis for not being massive sissies.
Notes: The future looks bleak for the Warriors. Gitonga Kahara couldn't get them into the top half, and now he is gone. They have a lot of good players, even some very good ones like Okello and Iruka. However, their good players are declining and nobody's stepping up to take their place. Manager Mark Grayson is on thin ice, despite his past achievements, the young players don't look particularly exciting (besides maybe Chewbacca), and the team's playstyle seems to be all over the place. Their only big signing is Lukas Boldfont. He better bang them in.

It is a club that values attacking, as their Season 12 BSL title saw them score 123 goals as a team en route to a league title, leading to a great +90 goal differential and a league title, and kept up their performances in the inaugurual S-FPL season, only finishing behind Dí Maozöxê. They are also Banija’s only international club champion, as they've won the Atlantian Oceania Champions' League. Istria City is certainly the bigger club in Istria, and it is supported by primarily a middle class fanbase. The likelihood of seeing violence or anything crazy like that around this club is small, but they are a club that gets very angry at any sort of hint that Herzegovina City is a bigger club than they are. Doesn't make it any less true, though.
Notes: This team has to be considered the best in Banija after last season. Not necessarily the most talented, sure, but Alvin Burnsides has them playing some very lethal football, and astonishingly consistently too! They may have lost some steam towards the end of last season, but they still only finished six points behind a Xíxì Êns-led, very inspired Dí Maozöxê squad. They've signed reinforcements, so they now look even more lethal, though doubts remain over how much this could upset team chemistry. In all likelihood, though, Burnsides can manage.
Jinja City FC

Background: This is one of Banija’s traditional big clubs, they consistently do well in the transfer market and are always out competing for titles. The only big league club in Banija’s second largest city, many say that they have a legitimate claim to being the most popular club in the country. Jinja City is located in North Central interior Banija, and is situated along the mighty Jinja River, which starts on Banija’s west coast just south of Herzegovina, and flows west to east across the entire country. As Banija’s biggest interior club and also with a pair of BSL titles, expectations are always generally high at the club. Their star is likely to shrink down with the S-FPL, as they are behind clubs like Hoima, Istria City, and Herzegovina City at the moment.
Notes: With Xilix-Zaxac Yol and Vatan Ercetin now no longer starters (and the latter actually retired), it is time for Jinja City to usher in a new era (or sink). To this end, they've splashed a lot of cash. Five of their starters are new signings expected to be definite improvements over the players they replaced. It might sound desperate but improvements had to be made after finishing tenth last season. The S-FPL will make you irrelevant quickly, is what Jinja's management realized. Now we gotta see how these signings turn out. If the move backfires... well, let's just say that, with reserves now likely depleted, Jinja fans would rather not think about that scenario.
Kitara AA

Background: Kitara AA is a club on the rise. The fourth of Banija’s four foreign owned clubs, as they were just bought out by Equestrian investors over the offseason. They have spent the last few years rising, and feel that the S-FPL will be a good place for them to truly start to reach new heights. The fans generally like to term themselves as the "sixth member of the Power 5", whether accurate or not. They truly believe that, with a little bit of luck, they’ll be able to challenge this league’s biggest clubs and possibly compete for a trophy during the upcoming season. Very pie-in-the-sky, sure, since there's absolutely no way Kitara will find success for another decade or so (if at all), but at least they've got a shiny new stadium now.
Notes: Kitara is the quintessential above-average team. Great players in Ronald Mickel, Betanni Jetvanna, Morgana Kolaj and Immaculate Kaba. Solid players elsewhere. With some luck, they could even push for CL qualification, specially if Ivanovich proves to be an inspired tactician. Thing is... this is not a club with a winning mentality. Clubs like Herzegovina City and Mâ Âlâmëómë, they're used to winning. They don't crumble under pressure because they've been there many times before. Kitara are new to being good, and their trophycase is, comically enough, emptier than La Querida's. For now, they'll have to content themselves with being sort of good.
La Nueva Avenida

Background: The most successful of the Avenida clubs, and the second-most successful club in the nation, La Nueva Avenida are a club focused on success. While their supporters have a bit of a xenophobic right-wing (ecological) streak at times, the truth is people of every type support them in their home state, purely because of how successful they've been historically. After a dark period of not winning anything, they finally managed to win the league again six seasons ago, and they're building on that to retake the crown that Mâ Âlâmëómë stole from them a few decades ago... to limited success. Let's be honest, it's an uphill battle, now made even more uphill by the new format. The club is nowadays the darling of Alex Terán, president-for-life of Farolera, so they've been getting some extra funds, panem et circenses style.
Notes: This was already an impressive squad, on par with the best teams in the league, but they've now gone ahead and added Rashica Horvath to the line-up. Rashica regularly gets playing time for the best national team in the Multiverse, so hopefully you don't need me to expand upon why she is such an important addition. This is a team that could very well win the league if things go their way; last season, they did not, and they barely missed out on CL qualification (due to a shock loss against Umbazi in matchday 36, though...). If Dí Maozöxê don't play like last season, this is probably the best Farf team in the league.
La Querida
Nickname: los Encorvados (the Hunchbacks)

Background: A very young club from what used to be the state of Pacifista, historically one of the worst states when it came to quality of football. Pacifista is now a part of Farolera, though, so maybe Pacifista will suddenly start producing better footballers. That's how it works. Anyway: the La Querida project was very simple on the outset: found a club that the whole city of Pacifista can support, and pour money into it until it works. It worked far better than anyone expected: the whole city has rallied behind them, elated at the prospect of long-term relevance in the Farf football scene. Unsurprisingly, they lack an identity beyond being from Pacifista and having been named after a grocery store. Older, more set-in-their-ways Pacifistans tend to look down on supporters of the team as plastics. They have recently become something of—as the youngsters say—a "meme".
Notes: You do not need us to tell you this is the worst team in the league, or that their only hope of scoring goals is a two-meter tall behemoth who rarely runs. Were it not for the inherent instability of the Rulandese region, La Querida would not still be in the top flight. Still, here they are, and there's a good chance they'll break every possible record this season: the squad is almost untouched. No changes were made beyond kidnapping a few Rulandese kids that will initially be coming off the bench due to their lack of experience in professional football. Fans hope they'll turn out better than some of the starters. Honestly? It's hard to blame them.
Lakiska SC

Background: This is the only Busogan club in the S-FPL, and likely the club with the lowest resources outside of Farfadillis. Arguments about this club’s inclusion in the inaugural season of the S-FPL were difficult, although a strong on field performance from them in the final BSL season, just at the right time, forced their inclusion. It is interesting to note, however, that they are one of two Banijan clubs in the S-FPL without a single trophy in the BSL era of Banijan football, the other being Kitara AA. They are, in contrast to almost all other teams in Banija and Farfadillis, focused on a fierce defense. It is, unfortunately, a club not known for rowdy support, as ultras groups for this club can never seem to stick around for more than a few errors. Still, they will do whatever they can to make themselves a permanent fixture in the S-FPL.
Notes: Yes, they may be boring and wholly unequipped to last more than a few more seasons in the S-FPL, but they are undeniably an interesting team to watch. The clash of styles they generate with just about every other team in the league make them an interesting case study. Detractors of defensive football will point towards the team's awful performances, while supporters will point towards how shit most of the players in this squad are and how they are, somehow, here. One thing is for sure, though: don't expect them to score many goals unless they're facing you-know-who.
Mâ Âlâmëómë

Background: The one Farf club that any football fan worth their salt should be able to recognize. Mâ Âlâmëómë have had some of the best squads in the history of club football. Among the players that have worn green and black are: Mêndêlöíndçêl, Einarsson, Kâí, Etezadi, Aurora, Wínrôuge, Rainsford, Gosforth, Campbell, Zubiri, Shrike, Tzâín, Röènôùjýâ, Na'Kale, Söh, Wçêíl, Killanen, Soria Luna... you get the idea. As a Rulandese club, they are utterly despised outside of Ruland. As the best Rulandese club, they are utterly despised inside of Ruland as well. Their fans, numerous and very violent, wouldn't give this up for the world. They were orignially founded as a loosely cultish collection of followers of one of the many Farf pagan faiths, one which venerated “Mother Earth”, better known as Mâ Âlâmëómë in the local language. True to their roots, they don't like the prevalence of uranium mining in Ruland. Unsurprisingly, they have many ties with past and present Rulandese revolutionary movements. However, to you and me, dear international reader, they're just that Farf behemoth nobody can spell or pronounce.
Notes: Oh boy, they did not take last season's debacle lightly. No team in the league has been more aggressive in the transfer window than them. Not by a long shot. Five quality players straight into the first team, one of which is a young Euran prospect who's already been capped, and another of which is Tahir Fejzuli, who Farf followers of the ex-Premiership don't need me to introduce. Dimitri Keldoulis, who was a great option off the bench for Brinemouth, almost looks like "only" a good signing when you look at what they've signed here. It remains to be seen whether they'll play well together (and adapt to Ruland, of course...) but it's safe to say they look dangerous, and that another eleventh-place finish is very unlikely.
Mynda Electra

Background: Mynda Electra have an interesting culture. They are Banija’s first club to have been bought by a foreign owner, with Electra Corporation of Damukuni (a public utility) having owned the team for quite a long time. Mynda is a surprisingly large city, a city of 800,000 but located at the heart of Banija’s smallest region, Aksum. Residents of Mynda claim they fail to get respect from national media, despite their large size, and you can see it in how their fans operate. Claiming Herzegovina City as their chief rival when they don’t acknowledge them as a rival back—is there no higher form of disrespect in the sport?—and, although Askatasuna FC is also in Aksum, they’ve never seriously considered each other rivals. A fanbase conditioned to disrespect, their culture loves “Mynda men” and is generally distrusting of outsiders, although they have embraced the foreign ownership group and their Chromatik manager, Daniel Lucas.
Notes: It looks like there can only be one good black and green team starting with M in this league. Mynda Electra are, simply put, very lacking. Their offensive output is pitiful, as is their defense. Strangely, neither are egregiously pitiful, and the midfield is just about decent. This means they've got a fairly decent chance to avoid relegation, but don't bet on it. If they go down, nobody would be particularly shocked. Also, this is arguably the most forgettable Banijan team in the league. Probably not relevent to you, reader, but I genuinely had forgotten their name before writing this up.

Background: Ever since René Skaé got promoted to the FFL, Szoirsian football has been slowly and very steadily rising through the ranks. First they produced NT-caliber players like Zsolgar Zsase, Kósa Bajnok and, most famously, Lázár Eleonóra. Then, René Skaé started following suit, eventually winning back-to-back FFL titles, mostly thanks to a certain Faragó rue Cazade. Off-the-pitch, René Skaé is quite the sensation in Szoirsia, with most anyone in the desert-that-some-people-believe-to-be-a-nation supporting the club. They're the second most left-leaning (now ex-)state, so their fans naturally lean that way as well. Their fans are remarkably mild, perhaps owing to the temperatures of their state, which is 90% a huge fucking desert (as we have made clear) where things you didn't know could melt do melt. Ferdullaelans and Farolerans resent, fear and envy them, because Szoirsians are not supposed to be better at football than them.
Notes: A very young team that is, nonetheless, one of the best in the league. This is both great and not-so-great news for the fans: great because they're likely to stay a good team for a long time, not-so-great because the team lacks experience. Few players in the squad can provide the leadership needed for a title charge and, while such players are not strictly needed, it is still a huge disadvantage. Nonetheless, it is clear no team will travel to Szoirsia thinking they've go the three points in the bag: they'd be fools to even assume they've got a point in the bag.

Background: Rülândéá Kôstä are massive in the Rulandese coast. When we say massive, we mean truly massive. Most everyone in the city's coast supports the team named after the city's coast which, to be fair, is not exactly shocking. Their supporters have very strong ties to the revolutionary movements of the last two decades, and are violent even by Rulandese standards. Their stadium, partially destroyed by bombings, will probably pack twice its capacity every game. Surprisingly, tâ Kôstä have a very friendly relationship with all other Rulandese clubs, seeing them more as family than rivals. Teams from outside Ruland, though? Well, that's a very different, much bloodier story... The fans will be subdued for now, though, due to the team's more fortunate present.
Notes: A very solid team with great team chemistry. They finished sixth last season despite focusing most of their efforts on the Challenger's Cup! On a good day they'll be capable of soundly beating anyone in the league. Fortunately for the rest of the league, they've made it back to the Challenger's Cup group stage, and it looks likely they'll make a deep run once again, so the league will, in all likelihood, once again be relegated to the background. It is understandable: for the club, IFCF football is very much a novetly, unlike for, say, Mâ Âlâmëómë.
