The Federal Republic of Svivk, population 58,377,483, is a medium sized Central European nation, with it's capital in Venice. It's largest cities are Munich, Zagreb, Graz, Trieste, and Augsberg.

It's national animal is the Italian Wolf, the national bird of Svivk is the Black Eagle and it's currency, the Siron is currently trading at 1.964 to the USD.

Svivk is currently ruled by President Rebekah Izi in a left wing-centre left coalition.

Early History of Svivk:
Svivk as a country didn't exist until very recently. Svivk was apart of the Roman Empire, coming under Vandal control after the Fall of Rome. After the defeat of the Vandal Kingdom by Belerius, a general of the Eastern Roman Empire's successor state, Byzantium, most of the area came under the control of Constantinople.

By the time the Medieval Period came around, however, much of what currentyl is Svivk was ruled by Venice, although the formerly German territories, such as Munich and Aubsberg were ruled from Vienna as part of the Holy Roman Empire.

20th Century Svivk:
At the start of the 20th Century, the lands that now make up Svivk were held by 3 nations. Venice by Italy, Munich by the German Empire and the Croatian and Slovenian lands by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. When WW1 Ended, the situation remained, although the Croatian and Slovenian area was held by the newly created Yugoslavian Kingdom.

During World War Two however, the entire area came under the control of Adolf Hitler's Germany. A successful geurilla movement led by Josip Tito in the Croatian/Slovene area, and the Allied Forces Invasion of Italy helped to defeat Germany, and after the war the lands again were split, this time between 4 nations. Venice remained apart of Italy, Munich came under the new East German nation ruled by Moscow, the Croatians and Slovenians became apart of the Yugoslavian Socialist Republic and the Austrian territories, Graz, included, were apart of Austria, although this was quickly swallowed up by the Soviet state.

Creation of the Republic of Svivk:
After Titos death, tensions in the Yugoslav states rose, culminating in the Yugoslav War in 1992. Croatia and Slovenia, already partially seperate, seceded fully and merged, creating the state of Svivk, with it's capital in Zagreb.

Venice remained apart of Italy and would stay that way until 2001, when Venicians voted overwhelmingly to join the fledging state of Svivk. Exit polls showed Venicians were fed up of high taxes, prices and political corruption. As such, they say the relatively low cost of living in the neighbouring state and sought to join them. Over 65% of voters voted to join the fledgling nation. Italy, in the midst of a financial and political crisis, didn't contest the result and allowed them to leave.

The Bavarian proportion of Svivk joined the country in 1994. The reunification of Germany and the collapse of the USSR led to the rise of nationalist groups all across the former Soviet states. The Bayer Freiheit Einrichtung, or Bavarian Freedom Organization, was one of these. The BFE won elections in Bavarian and started the process of seceding, when Josep Timic, then President of Svivk, offered Unification with Austria, which had joined Svivk as soon as they could. A referendum was held, where two questions were asked:

1. Should Bavaria secede from the wider German nation?
2. If Bavaria were to secede, should it join the nation of Svivk?

In answer to the first question, 73% were in favour. In answer to the second, 54% were in favour. In 1995 Bavaria's government issued a Angabe über Sezession, declaring that 'Bavaria secedes from Germany and joins the Republic of Svivk'. It was an unprecedented move. Munich, Germany's second largest city, had left and joined another nation.

Orgins of the Name:
The origins of the name Svivk are hotly disputed. Yasmin Jovetic, a etymologist at the University of Zagreb, claims the origins come from an ancient Dalmatian deity, although his paper, Svivk: A Word Quest, doesn't identify which one.

The Television presentor, and former Lecturer, Bernard Fritz contends that the word is an adaption from the Serbian svi, meaning all, the Italian ci meaning us and the Czech k which can translate as for.

The Government has never sought to offer an explanation for the choice of name, and nor hasJosep Timic, saying, when he was pressed in a 2004 interview; "It is not my intention to waste both your and my time commenting for things which are both irrelevant, and unlikely to sell many books." A comment only half true, it seems, as both Mr Fritz and Ms Jovetic are bestsellers.

National Symbols of Svivk

The official national animal of Svivk is the Italian Wolf, a sub-species of the Eurasian Wolf that's found in the Alps and Dalmatia. Svivk's national bird is the Black Eagle, taken from the coat of Arms of both Austria and Germany.

The national Tree of Svivk is the Oak and the country has three national flowers, the Iris Croatica, the Cornflower and the Gentian. The three are collectively known as the Blue flowers of Svivk.

Svivk doesn't have a coat of arms like most countries, so the nation's flag appears on most government correspondence.

The Rule of Law
One of the problems the fledgling state of Svivk faced was how to reconcile the Laws of Italy, Germany, Austria, Croatia and Slovenia to each other, as well as the culture surrounding the law in all those places. The job fell to the men and women of the newly formed Office of Draftwork, where all new laws are drafted.

The drafters faced the unique problem of bringing together the laws of 5 countries, and numerious regional assemblies, and put them into one document. The Document of Svivkian Legislation on the Criminal and Civil Elements of the Federal Republic is more than 12,000 pages long.

The Police:
One of the first things the Government established was a well-funded, well-trained and well-armed police force. The Police are fully armed. Each officer is likely to carry a Fabrique Nationale FNP series of Pistols. In addition, in the trunk of every squad car, is a FN Patrol Battle Rifle and a Benelli M4 shotgun.

The Armoured Police Corps, the Svivkian equivilent to SWAT, are armed with FN Five-Seven Pistols, FN Special Police Rifle and , In addition to the M4, Kal-Tec RFB (more information on these arms, and the wider Armed Forces of Svivk can be found in the military section of this factbook).


Police outside Munich

The Police Force of Svivk was very careful in choosing their police vehicles. For a squad car, they went to German manufacturers Skoda, choosing their Octavia Ambiente model, with a brand new engine, producing 400bhp from new 4l diesel engines.

For the Police's motorcycle units, only one bike would do. They overwhelmingly asked for the BMW R1200. Currently 157 are in service with the police force, with more planned.


Police Funding:
The police force is split into 237 district forces, or , with Munich and Zagreb overseeing half each. The larger police force is in Munich, with over officers, although Venice District Police have the largest budget, to help combat the rise in crime both on land and on the canals and waterways of the capital. These budgets are constantly under review, however, with quartly progress reports being sent to Augsberg, where the Administrative Center is located.

The AC is responsible for the allocation of funds to all government organizations. In relation to the Police, the AC will recieve the reports from the Districts, as well as the recommendations from Munich and Zagreb, and then allocate funds accordingly.

The main Industry of Svivk is the Arms Industry. Both Steyr and Heckler and Koch operate factories in the nation, with the industry being the main employer in the nation. Over 40 countries operated in the defence industry are registered on the Venician stock exchange.

Svivk's other large industries are the automobile industry, with Volkswagen operating a factory near Munich, and the media also is a large industry, growing faster than any other, according to figures from the Office of National Statistics based in Innsbruck.

The Land Forces of the Federal Republic of Svivk
The Armed Forces Reform Act, passed in 2002, amalgamated the Air Force, Army and Armoured Corps into one force. The Land Forces of the Federal Republic of Svivk, the LFFRS, is now split into 26 groups, totaling 8,000 troops per group and 216,000 active personnel total.

Each group is split into Infantry, Armour and Air forces. The 7,000 men of the Infantry Section divide into 5 Battalions of 1,400 men, which again divide into 4 Divisions of 350 men. These Divisions are made up of 7 Companies of 50 men. Each Company is made up of 5 10-man squads.

The 750 vehicles of the Group split into 5 150 vehicle Brigades, then into 3 Divisons of 50 vehicles. The Division is made up of two 25 vehicle Companies. An average Company is made up of 10 Main Battle Tanks, since 2007 the Type-90 Tank, 5 Light/Medium Tanks, the Type-10 Tank, 4 APCs/IFVs, 3 Tank Destroyers and 3 Self-Propelled Guns.

The Air Force part of the Group is made up of 5 50 Craft Squadrons. These Squadrons are made up of 10 Craft Wings. Each Wing is usually made up of 6 Fighters, 2 Helicoptors and 2 Support Planes/Helis.

Small Arms of the LFFRS
When looking to replace the various Small Arms of the 5 Armed Forces of Italy, Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia following Secession, the LFFRS went to the Italians of Benelli and Beretta, and Fabrique Nationale of Belguim. The following is a list of the entirety of the Small Arms of both the LFFRS, the NFRS and the various Police and Special Forces Units:
Pistols:

Used by the Special Forces in the 5.7x28mm FN produced Cartridge.

Used by the Police Departments, it is mostly Favoured by the PDs under the control of the Zagreb Police Headquarters.

The Standard Police Pistol favoured by the Munich Head Quarters.

The Storm is the Special Forces Pistol used by the Presidential Bodyguard.

SMG/PDW:

Also chambered in the 5.7x28mm produced by FN, the P90 is the main PDW of the LFFRS.

Chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum, the M12 is the main SMG of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Svivk.

Shotguns:

The only Benelli weapon used by the AFFRS, this 12-gauge shotgun is a favourite of many soldiers.

In the reforms of 2002, the Police Force of the Federal Republic (PFFRS) was granted permission to choose their own shotgun, and they went to Beretti.

Rifles:

Chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, the SCAR is the main Carbine of the LFFRS.

Chambered in the 9x19mm Parabellum, the Cx4 Storm was adopted by the NFFRS and by 5 LFFRS Groups.

When the LFFRS went to FN for an assualt rifel, they originally were going to go for the FAL, the Right Arm of Freedom, as it is known. However, the LFFRS was impressed with the FNAR, and the 7.62x51mm NATO Assualt Rifle was adopted.

Beretti pitched their own Assualt Rifle to the LFFRS but, when the FNAR was adopted, the Marines and the wider NFFRS chose to adopt the ARX160.

The only rifle used by the regular police, chambered in 7.62x51 NATO.

Used by both the police and the military, this 7.62x51mm NATO sniper rifle is the only sniper that was adopted.

Machine Guns:

The only Machine gun in use by the LFFRS, the NFFRS also adopted it in 2007. Chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO.

In 2010 the LFFRS signed a multi-billion dollar contract with Airbus, with the company to supply the AFFRS with C-27J Spartan, A400M, A310 and A330 MRTTs.

The Naval Fleet of Svivk
Svivk's Navy is an entirely brown water force, mainly responsible for prevention of crime and border control. Svivk is helped by only having one coastline, in the Adriatic, allowing the Navy to be a small, focussed, very effective force.

The size of the Navy is not as big as some of her neighbours, with 32 ships, 3 small subs and no aircraft carriers. The Navy does operate 8 Helicopter carriers, of the Mistral class, who spearhead the fight against organized crime in the Adriatic, taking on the bulk of patrol duties, looking for the ships carrying illegal immigrants from Albania into Europe.

To help this force, the Navy operates 3 small diesal-powered submarines, named the Watcher. The 44 men subs are regularly deployed to the area between Albania and Italy, to co-ordinate with the Helicopter carriers and other ships. Since the deployment of these to the area, the number of ships captured has increased threefold.

In supplement to these, the Navy of the Federal Republic of Svivk, or NFRS, operates 6 Horizon class destroyers. These modern ships were a tie up with France and Italy, who also operate 2 Horizon[i] class ships each.

In 2007, the first of the NFRS's new [i]Seeker class Frigattes went into to service. Built in Russia and based upon the Indian Talwar class, the frigattes are in addition to the 12 Offshore Patrol Boats that replaced the 15 CPBs of various types that the NFRS inherited after Seccession. The OFB's, all Orca class ships, built in Canada ans renamed the Canal, double as the larger coast guard vessels, and play an important role in the fight against crime in the Adriatic.

Future of the AFFRS
Both the LFFRS and NFFRS are due to submit plans for the years 2020-2050 sometime next year. However, several plans are already confirmed. The first of which is the pre-ordering of 15 Mitsubishi FSX2's, with more to come.

The AFFRS is also expected to announce a replacement for the Mil Mi-80 and whether or not Svivk will be building or ordering any cruisers or aircraft carriers.
