HOLMES FIRED BY HAWKING-BYRD FOLLOWING SIX STRAIGHT DNQs
Future of Hawking-Byrd alliance in doubt
By Scott Baxter, Wreckerian Sports News

HALSTED – Chris Holmes is out of a job after failing to qualify for his sixth consecutive race.

Holmes, a native of Hapilopper City, Hapilopper, was officially fired by Hawking-Byrd Motorsports the day after the Toys ‘4’ All 500 in Vilita, with the team listing the same reasons – “Performance and Behavioral Issues” as Team Blue did when they let the 26-year old go midway through last season.

At this point, Hawking-Byrd has declined to name a replacement, and is believed to be shutting the 56 team down following the race, which is likely to mean that around 25 individuals will be let go from the organization.

“It is unfortunate that it had to happen this way,” said Scott Hawking, team owner of Hawking-Byrd Motorsports. “But the fact is, we are a performance-based business. We have to make a change if one of our drivers is failing to qualify for as many races as Mr. Holmes has. We owe it to our sponsors, our personnel and to our stakeholders to improve our situation.”

Hawking also appeared to confirm rumors that Holmes had been fired, in part, due to a recent series of posts on twii.tur that savaged the team, while publicly stating a desire to return to Team Blue for the next NSSCRA season.

“In this team, everyone has to work together as a unit,” Hawking said. “And if someone goes on social media talking about how they want to go elsewhere, well, they’re more than welcome to do that. I’m not going to stop them, and I’m not going to get in their way if they feel we’re not good enough for them.”

The team has been reportedly going through some turmoil as of late. According to a source within the Hawking-Byrd team, team owners Scott Hawking and Chet Byrd reportedly got into a shouting match after the race in Alanis Star concerning a meeting involving the team, Team Blue and Preston Autos, a meeting that led to Frank Bronson driving the Alanis Star race for the team.

Byrd was reportedly incensed over the fact that Hawking had given in to demands from Team Blue and from Preston Autos so easily, while Hawking was incensed over Byrd’s alleged interest in sabotaging the meeting.

There are also rumors that Byrd had revealed himself in the meeting as the man that fed false information to Hap O’Loppa, a controversial Hapiloppian columnist, who accused Team Blue of running illegal fuel during NSSCRA and HASCAR races. O’Loppa posted on twii.tur during the weekend of the Alanis Star race that his source had retracted the claim, but declined to mention who the source was.

Byrd declined to comment on the Holmes firing, the rumors of discord in the team or reports concerning the Hap O’Loppa story.

Holmes, however, did not decline to comment, stating that he was “extremely disappointed in the move.”

“We’d be in good shape if Hawking had given me the charter instead of given it to him,” Holmes said. “But all of this was about him racing every weekend against the best in the business. Problem is, the best in the business lap him every 20 laps. Honestly, I’m embarrassed to be involved in this program, and I’m embarrassed to have associated myself with this group. I feel terrible for Good Motor Oil because they deserved better, as did I.”

Holmes indicated that he would be sitting out the rest of this racing season, stating that he would not compete in either the NSSCRA or HASCAR moving forward, shutting out any rumors of Holmes pursuing the open charter for the upcoming Super Skychief 500.

He did say, however, that he intended to write a few things concerning his experience with the Hawking-Byrd team and in Wreckeria.

“There’s a reason I’m going back to Hapilopper,” Holmes said. “Last night, there was an armed robbery right outside my apartment. Third one this week. I’m getting the hell out of here.”

Lonngeylin Ring, Lonngeylin, Vilita
The Toys ‘4’ All 500
When Taylor Henderson climbed out of her Preston Super Skychief following the Toys ‘4’ All 500, her first reaction was to go over to the front end of her car to see how badly dinged it had been. And sure enough, the right-front fender was dented all to hell. The front bumper of her car was flattened, the hood had caved in, and there were marks all over the place. She had been more aggressive than usual, and it paid off for her with a third place finish. Meanwhile, the sides of her car had donuts and scrapes all over them, the telltale sign of an aggressive race.

Her crew was delighted with what she had done. So was the rest of Team Blue, who had seen a performance that they felt they were capable of. They weren’t a midpack team. They were a front-running team, and they knew it. They were a team that needed to be winning races, not finishing in the second 10. And Hendo running third, having moved guys out of the way all race long, was more than a little bit motivating to the rank-and-file crew members.

But still, there was some dissent. Drake Stevenson was not all that thrilled with Taylor after the race. Midway through the race, Taylor nailed someone in the rear going into the third turn, sending them into a spin. Drake had to take evasive action to avoid t-boning the driver, but still took some damage as he hit the spinning car ever-so-slightly in the right front.

“God damn, Hendo, maybe clean up your act a little bit,” Drake said to his teammate. “I get it’s a short track and you wanted to prove a point, but you didn’t have to clean that one guy out! I mean, hell, I almost got collected in that.”

“He was in the way,” Taylor responded flippantly. “Plus, we need to start running a little more aggressively. Not afraid to take action, you know?”

“I guess, but I’m not a fan of just dumping people,” Drake said. “You know, whoever that was, they’re going to want to pay you back, probably.”

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it,” Taylor replied just as flippantly. “I guess we’ll find out when I’m lapping their ass.”

Drake’s view was in the minority, especially among Hapiloppians. Hapiloppian fans watching the race on HTN were in nirvana watching Taylor’s ultra-aggressive style of driving, as spotted on twii.tur.

Taylor reasoned after the race that she needed to go out there and prove a point. She needed to prove a point that Team Blue was not going to be messed with, and was not going to be pushed around by the top drivers in the NSSCRA. She said she went out to send a message, and that message was most likely delivered. In the post-race meeting the next day at the Team Blue Shop, Taylor delivered a fiery defense of her driving, demanding that her teammates do the same.

“You think I’m OK with us finishing 15th? 20th? Are you kidding me?” Taylor said. “God DAMN IT! This is TEAM BLUE! This is a race team that’s supposed to kick ass and take names every fucking week! When I got signed by this team, everyone said ‘oh, they’re the ones that’ll run you over and make you sorry you got in their way!’ I have yet to see that happen. We need to go out there and start doing something!”

The rest of the team sat there and could only listen. Taylor was on fire.

“I went out there in Vilita and took care of business to show the rest of the world that I am SICK and freakin’ TIRED of getting pushed around! I’m sick and tired of all the rest taking the glory! I’m sick and tired of getting out of my car after the race wondering what else we could have done while some guy, I don’t know, Clarissa Alanis Star or Shark Suzgar or whatever the hell holds a trophy at the end of the day! I don’t care what it takes. We’re going to go out there, take care of business, and we’re going to get the fucking job done!”

And then Taylor trained her eyes on Drake Stevenson.

“And you, Stevenson,” Taylor spat out. “When I grew up, you were the Fearless Leader of racing in this country. I’d go to school every Monday after a race and everyone would ask me ‘did you see that holy shit move Drake Stevenson pulled on the track?’ God DAMN it! People would see you do things in a stock car that nobody ever thought possible. I pulled those kind of moves in Vilita because I saw YOU do them. I remember the time you got spun on the first lap of a race at some short track and you came back from last to first to win the damn thing!”

Drake could only sit there, silent. She was telling the truth.

“You knocked people out of the way,” Taylor explained. “You put that car in deeper than anyone else, and you dared people. Try to hold it next to me. I fucking dare you. Try to keep me behind you. I fucking dare you. That’s what you were like. Everyone I knew idolized you. My friends thought you were the coolest driver they had ever seen. I was a Frank Bronson fan, but I thought you were the coolest driver I had ever seen. Because you didn’t give a shit about the circumstances. It was win by any means necessary. And you went out there and you won, no matter what had been put in front of you.”

Drake wanted to say something, but that probably wasn’t the best idea. Besides, he realized everything she said was absolutely correct.

“When you went to the World Grand Prix Championship, we were so excited,” Taylor continued. “We knew that you were going to go out there and kick ass for the rest of us. For all of us. But what happened? You let some girl let you down. You let some piece of shit let you down, because, what, she was seeing some creep behind your back? You were concerned about you two getting back together? God fucking damn it, Stevenson. You were the best racing driver I have ever seen, and you let some jackass take you down. You’re not the Drake Stevenson I fell in love with.”

Drake looked up upon hearing the last two sentences. That was it. He realized exactly where she was coming from. And she was right. It was time for the old Drake Stevenson to come back.

“That Drake Stevenson would have been alongside me in Vilita, knocking guys out of the way,” Taylor continued. “And you and I would have probably knocked each other senseless trying to be the first one to the line. That’s the Drake Stevenson I want to see out there. I don’t want to see this Drake Stevenson I see in front of me – always timid, disappointed at people for running hard, and scared to death of the consequences. That Drake Stevenson isn’t gonna win jack shit and YOU KNOW IT.”

Taylor sat down in her chair and kept staring at her teammate. Drake looked back at her and had nothing to say. She wanted an attitude change. Everyone wanted an attitude change. And that attitude change had to come soon.

“She’s right,” Amanda McAlister said. “Next week, on the beach, I want to see the old Drake Stevenson back.”

A couple of laps into the Toys '4' All 500, Hengxing Tian tried to pull a bump and run on Kai Qiang, but it didn't go according to plan. First, Tian had trouble catching Qiang. It took three laps longer than Tian expected to make any kind of contact at all. Then Qiang stubbornly refused to be pushed out of the way, and they spent a few more laps shoving each other around, scuffing up their cars and cussing each other out. If other drivers could find the room to get around the rolling roadblock, they did.

The high-speed shoving match was terrifying, and Tian could feel his nerves starting to fray. He needed a break to catch his breath, but he was determined not to let Qiang get away. Qiang went charging up the embankment on turn 3, and Tian decided he would try to cut through the inside lane fast enough to slip ahead of Qiang before he came back down from the embankment. Like everything else that Tian had done so far today, the move looked much slicker in his head than it did on the track. He misjudged how tightly the car would corner when he was on the inside lane without the help of the embankment. Instead of slipping under Qiang and looking smooth as fuck, Tian fishtailed into Qiang's path and they both spun out. Other drivers scrambled to dodge around them, a couple of them bumping the wall in the process.

Tian was very discombobulated, and with all the bumping and banging on the crowded little track, he never had a good chance to settle down and collect his wits. His recklessness had set him back several places from his 15th place start, and he never managed to dig himself out of that hole.

He climbed out of the car after a demoralizing 32nd place finish and immediately got a tongue lashing from Huliang Ou, the Beiyang mechanic who had formerly worked for Kai Qiang. "What the fuck was that!" Ou spat in a thick southern accent. "I didn't sign up for this shit!"

"I didn't do it on purpose!" Tian retorted. "You think I want to spin out!"

Ou picked up a wrench and waved it threateningly at Tian. "You better fucking watch yourself!"

NSSCRA 10 | Round 7 Preview: Tropicoast Beach Course

Tropicorp 500, Tropicoast Beach Course, Tropicoast, Tropicorp

Tropicoast Beach Course :: Information

About the Track:
Image

Track Location: Tropicoast, Tropicorp, Atlantian Oceania
Track Record: 107.561s (Anavella Ariiki, NSSCRA 8)
Track Lap Length: 4.1 Mile

Image Image

Image Image

The race begins on the Tropicorp Motorway; an access road that runs along the coast connecting different primary areas of the Tropicorp campus, Tropicoast itself and nearby facilities. While it is typically considered a two lane road and racing will be tight on the paved main straightway when compared with the compacted sand on the back straightaway, drivers should be able to fit three-across without having to dip their wheels into the sand. Not too far down the road past the start finish line is the original Tropicorp headquarters building which now serves as the Tropicorp visitor center. The iconic Tropicorp sign surrounded by Palm Trees can still be seen and will provide an excellent photo backdrop particularly for the Team Tropicorp cars. The Tropicorp Visitor Center will also serve as the site of the Tropicorp Pit Crew Competition taking place prior to the Tropicorp 500.

Image Image

After passing the Tropicorp Visitor Center the road will begin to bend into an elbow as drivers will begin setting themselves up for the big curve and the transition off the paved surface. There is still plenty of room to pass after the elbow, however as drivers scream down one of the longest paved straightaways in motorsports. As drivers approach the Dart billboard they will begin to see the big curve climbing into the sky in the distance and will need to begin preparing themselves for braking to set up for the difficult transition from the paved surface to the compacted sand.

Image Image

As drivers prepare to make the big left hand curve off the paved surface, any drivers who brake too late or have an issue with their cars will have two options. Drivers may opt to continue straight down the paved road through the lightweight swing signs marking the end of the racing surface if they have an issue with their car and are not planning to continue in the race. Otherwise, drivers who miss the entry to the corner should still be able to make the turn and scrub speed as they climb the banking with the brakes applied. Some drivers may choose to climb the banking purposely to carry additional speed both into and out of the large turn installed by the Tropicorp locals both as a safety measure to allow cars to scrub speed off after flying down the nearly two-mile long paved straightaway.

Image Image

While drivers will have been mostly constrained to a 2-3 lane wide paved surface on the front straightaway in order to maintain maximum grip and speed, once they exit from the big curve they will open up into a wide open straight of compacted sand that will allow half the field to spread out and battle side by side if need be. The compacted sand is of slightly different color than the un altered natural beach sand and drivers will know the difference if they stray too close to the water line, though there is plenty of room for error on the racing surface before a driver would be in danger of going off into the unprepared surface. The inside of the course opens up to allow a pitlane before the tight, flat curve at the start/finish end of the course.

Image Image

Unlike the big curve at the other end of the course, drivers will not be able to carry a lot of speed into the flat curve and anyone that does may find themselves into the orange guard rail fencing and out of the event. By far the slowest part of the course, the flat curve will allow fans in the grandstands an opportunity to see all the cars and take nice pictures with the large Tropicorp billboards in the background at the center of curvature. As drivers exit the curve it will be a race to regain traction on the paved surface - taking a wider exit may allow contact patch with the pavement sooner but will increase distance traveled and may result in a slick paved surface due to kick back from the compacted sand. Taking a tighter exit to the turn may result in slower entry speed but a cleaner more natural transition back to the paved surface for the spring back to the finish line just meters ahead.

Image

Fan Access:

Fans will watch the race from the large Main Grandstand at the flat curve and a series of smaller grandstands along the front straightaway on either side of the Start/Finish line. There will be 'Campground' style access in the center of the course however there is no entry/exit from the center of the course when the race is under green flag conditions. There will be an employee-only viewing party at the Tropicorp Visitors Center while fans will also be able to utilize grandstands along the front straightaway at the transition to the Big Curve.

FanZone Information
Image Image Image Image

Pit Crew Challenge :: Tropicorp Racing Supply will host their 'Pit Crew Challenge" outside the flat curve where fans will be able to test their ability to change an NSSCRA tyre or act as the fuel person so long as they first sign a release form indemnifying Tropicorp of any injury that may occur as they attempt to set the fast times in the challenge. Participants may also enter Tropicorp's Pit Crew Challenge Promotion on Practice and Qualifying Day where the fastest competitors could get invited to pit the #42 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart of Euroli Islander during the Tropicorp NSSCRA Pit Crew Competition.

Cocoabo Zone & "Meet the Techie" Exhibit :: The Cocoabo Preservation Society will be on hand with a special Cocoabo Zone in the area outside the front straightaway past the Start-Finish line where trained Cocoabo will be on hand demonstrating some of their skills. Cocoabo Enrichment and Enhancement Project trainers will be on hand with their Cocoabo to discuss some of their training methods.

Cocoa-bo :: Delectable company Cocoa-bo will be on hand with a 'spin the wheel' and sample tent where fans can sample some Cocoa-bo product as well as purchase items for sale. Fans can also line up to spin the wheel for prizes including spinners, sunglasses and magnets with the Cocoa-bo logo on them.

twii.tur :: twii.tur will have 3 locations around the speedway where fans can have their picture taken and instantly delivered via twii.tur from inside the stock cars of Cocoabo #28 or the special #98 @CocoaboPark Dart that Jixaka Motorai drives in the Everlong Contenders Series as well as the World Grand Prix Championship car driven by TJUN-ia's Lane Carter during the recently completed World Grand Prix Championship season.

Toys '4' All, Visit TI, Arcticala Electrical, the Dart Group and Vilaye Energy Drink are among other entities also expected to participate in the fanzone with information kiosks or small sales tables as well as a selection of foreign entities including Five Star Mobile of Cassadaigua who will likely have a large display featuring their products and activities in support of the Five Star Combo.

The Everlong Contenders series will make its debut at the Tropicoast Beach Course with the Tropicorp Sifaka 300K sponsored by Tropicorp Racing Supply. It will be the first venture on a mixed-surface track for the second-tier contenders series following a busy week of racing activity within the Vilitan Cove. The Contenders series event will begin at 11:00 Local time to ensure the race concludes with ample time for driers and fans to relocate to Mavaloiao for the evening iROS event. While Drivers and VIPs will have access to direct helicopter service as required, most crew and fans will opt to hop on the Mavaloiao Ferry from the Port of Tropicoast. While Ferry service between Mavaloiao and Tropicoast is already set to be at triple the normal frequency for the duration of the Tropicorp 500 Race Weekend, it is expected that there will be additional surge ferry service going to Mavaloiao following the Contenders series race as well as returning to Tropicoast.

You have to be a certain kind of crazy to travel the multiverse, rocking up to ovals with a big, blocky stock car and sweating it out as temperatures in said big, blocky stock car reach far over the comfortable temperatures an average person can handle. But still, even as the risk of crashing out or fainting of heat exhaustion are there, every weekend 101 drivers, from superstars to upstarts, ride along the multiverse's best oval tracks and road courses hoping to be crowned a race winner, while only 2 will be crowned champion. From the Main Series to EverLong, these drivers strap themselves in and get ready for the ride of their lives. This is one driver's story.

Shigeru Ishikawa was having the race of his life around the Ring in Vilita. At least, in the very beginning. He was performing somewhere along the top 15 for the first half of the race, and sometimes, with all the chaos around pit lane at such a short track like this, he could get himself as high as the Top 10 in the Inklingcraft Splattershot before his Tropicorp tires were ready to be changed. For the most part, though, there were no problems for the #40 team, it was business as usual. Right until disaster struck.

With his tires just recently changed, the driver of the #40 could hear someone try to do the old bump and run on him. With how beat up cars can be on such a small track, by the time this happened his back was already beaten up a fair bit. That bump and run, however, would mess up the car's aerodynamics. The car would, as a result, get itself a lot slower, making Ishikawa drop all the spaces he moved up on the board and then some.

Yasu YOSHIOKA (Spotter, #40) - You're getting a bit slow over there Shigeru. You should probably pit now.
Shigeru ISHIKAWA (Driver, #40) - What, I'm the slow car now? You do realize how short this track is, right?
Hanzou YUKIMURA (Crew Chief, #40) - Oh come on Shigeru! YOU'RE the slow car! I need you to pit!
Shigeru ISHIKAWA (Driver, #40) - All of this work for nothing... That's the way it is.
Hanzou YUKIMURA (Crew Chief, #40) - Good. Try to not make a fool of yourself as you get there though, okay?

The #40 car would find itself at pit lane due to these problems, and as such essentially moved to the back of the field while the pit crew got to work fixing as many problems as they could - Which ultimately ended up with a bunch of duct tape on the back side of the car as well as trying to fix the spoiler. However, as the car went back to the track, it was still handling quite slow. It would take a while for Shigeru to come to grips with the car and for all the problems to be fixed, but by that time the race was wrapping up. He would cross the line in 30th, a far cry from where he was at prior to the bump.

But now the Spartansburg based team were having a little dilemma. For one, the short track car just used, the one that had to be stitched up with duct tape, had to be in race condition by the TMW 500 in Ramba just 2 weeks later. Their speedway car? A certain Daryl Mizushima was being given it by the team for the Lao Long 380 IRACT race, which was the week of the Tropicorp 500. They only really had 3 cars in their stable - The once used road course car, the superspeedway car to be used at Tropicoast, and the battered up short track car, which the garage had to repair constantly throughout Tropicorp 500 race weekend just so it looked passable enough for the trek to the Sherpa Empire. What could have been...

The paint scheme was the same as it was in New Northwesteros when Ishikawa guided the then #40 to 15th place in Lannisburg. The only difference between then and now? The number. 63. That of World Grand Prix Championship driver Daryl Mizushima. The Squidroidian had a decent rookie season, at least if you define decent by only 2 starts and 2 points. With his duties in the top tier of open wheel racing done for now, however, he had the time to train his skills for the upcoming season of WGPC competition. So why not race in a completely different discipline?

Daryl's Lao Long race was supposed to be a one-off. After this, as per the contract with Inklingcraft, the speedway car being used was being given back to ISR and Daryl would have to use the IRACT provided car, complete with the Lao Long/Westlake sponsorship, if he won the race. But even then, the Squidroidian open wheeler was still set to have some fun and hone his skills in a discipline foreign to him. If it meant that he was ultimately going to handle his car better when the WGPC resumed, then so be it.

One driver in one stock car. A one-off race for Daryl in the Sherpa Empire with a NSSCRA open charter to whoever won in Lao Long. He knew the odds to win were stacked against him - 18 years old, driving a completely new car to his ride in the WGPC, and a field of other stock car racers to drive against on a 2.1 mile joy ride. A heck of a start to a wild offseason for the young Squidroidian.

This blog was written by Derrick Carlisle, Jaguar Racing's Social Media Manager

Saturday night arrived in Lonngeylin, Vilita and it was time for the main event of the weekend: the Toys '4' All 500! With only Michael Stefan (@Stefan07) running in this race, the pressure was all on '07 to deliver some good points from 22nd to keep up the pace with the Top 16. Both Alfonso Mercado (@AM64) and Maddson Riley-Jones (@MaddyRJ03) were watching this one from the sidelines we all hoped for some good points here tonight!

Stefan would get off to a good start by flying up to 10th before stabilising his position around this mark for a while. He then flew up to 5th at one point before coming back down to his original "zone", if you will. He fell back a bit to 19th but then came a spirited comeback as he sliced his way up the field to finish all the way up in 4th come the end of this race. He was happy with that performance, as was Alfonso and Maddy and everyone else. What a drive to produce JR's best result of the year thus far!

Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha finally took the lead of the standings from Jenna Logan's firm grip after winning tonight's festivities over Yraaga Gilli'i and the aggressive little devil known as Taylor Henderson. Jenna Logan would end up 13th while Frank Bronson continued his non-charter dominance in 15th. Jama'obo Pegasii finished his open-charter race in 31st, just behind Shigeru Ishikawa, while 8 drivers (including Tsering Chu and Lexi Patterson) failed to make it to the end. Stefan is now up to 21st after 6 races while Mercado's DNS only drops him down 3 to 33rd overall.

They would meet up in a local coffee shop, a place where no one knew their names. Harpa Gylfisdóttir and Derrick Carlisle, the Ice Queen and the Social Media guy, had agreed to another one of their coffee meets, as they have done since Harpa became team boss midway through NSSCRA 9 and they were always fun occasions. This one, however, would be an interesting one for both. Hapra had noticed that her social guy had been feeling a bit down recently and while she knew he wasn't one to openly talk about himself at all but she knew she had to get to the bottom of this before it was too late.

She would bring it up over the coffee, much to Derrick's surprise. First, she tried to pin it on Maddy and her recent mood. Derrick would disagree, as what Maddy was gong through was her business and her's alone. Maybe he just felt a bit rough or a bit sick? Nope, he was as fit as a fiddle. What about recent performances? No, because JR isn't the be-all and end-all of the world. He was clearly on the defensive and she knew something must be up.

She decided that cheering up Derrick would be a good idea and so, he told him about the plans for Jungle Fever II. The non-alcoholic policy and the food that would be available, the music choices and the lighting. Everything was going to be perfect this time on Ísfrúin's watch and she was going to make sure of it. She noticed how better he was appearing when she was rambling on about the party, how relaxed he became. She had a hunch about what it could be but it sounded like pure fantasy, at least right now.

After all that, they left for the track to prepare for the short trip to Vilisorma. It was there, during the walk back that she felt she had made a great mistake. Whilst stopping for a red light on the pavement, she was going on about how good the meet up was and, in the moment, hugged the Social Media Manager. He clearly wasn't expecting it and when she realised what she had done, there were some profuse apologies and the rest of the way was quiet.

How could she be so foolish?! Letting go of my guard like that, especially with him, was no going to do me any favours. She felt that she had made a clear mistake and she didn't know what to do. What was Derrick going to think? That she...liked him? She knew how true that question was, but how long would it take her to have the guts to tell him that herself? Maybe forever, at this rate...

Somewhere in Wreckeria
Two nights after the Toys ‘4’ All 500
Chris Holmes didn’t know what road he was on, nor did he really care at this point. All he cared was that he was heading east, towards Hapilopper. Towards home. It was over for him. His big chance at redeeming himself from the awful time he had made for himself a year before, and it was over in six races, races he had failed to qualify for. The day after the race, he was called into Scott Hawking’s office and informed that Scott had lost confidence in his abilities, and thus, he was out of a job.

He left the Hawking-Byrd shop that day despondent, figuring that his racing career was over. He was out of racing at 26 years old. But he didn’t want to stay in Wreckeria. Halsted was not the nicest place to live, especially the part of Halsted he called home. As he got back to his apartment, Chris could hear some screaming out on the street. He looked out his window to find some punk breaking into someone’s car. Once again. So he grabbed what meant most to him, and anything else he could fit in his car and got the hell out of Halsted.

His car, a Preston Skychief, was filled with electronics – a television, a computer, and some other goodies, as well as his clothes, some pictures and as many books he could fit in his car. He left all his furniture behind, figuring he could get those things replaced, and he took off for the east. For Hapilopper. For a more peaceful place.

There wasn’t many people on the road at this hour. There were some trucks traveling towards Halsted and points west, but it was a late hour. The sky was pitch black, probably darkened by the smog that always hovered over the sky in Wreckeria. Chris joked once it was “the fog of war that still hadn’t lifted.”

That joke was not received well in the Hawking-Byrd shop, which wasn’t a surprise. Many within the Hawking-Byrd camp remembered the 54 years of civil war that rocked Wreckeria to its knees, and many within the shop knew at least one or more people that had been lost in the fighting. Maybe it was that joke that started Chris down the road of leaving the Hawking-Byrd so quickly.

Thinking of what had happened over the last few weeks, Chris decided he needed to turn on the radio to listen to some tunes to maybe get his mind off what had happened. And it was that music that helped him relax. It was that music that helped him think about the happier times. About that magical day in Jebslund when he scored his first career NSSCRA victory.

The first of many, he thought to himself that day. At least, I hope it is.

He remembered all of Team Blue rushing over to mob him after winning that first race. How he was hoisted on Chet Byrd and Drake Stevenson’s shoulders after the race. Everything seemed perfect at the time, and all indications pointed to Chris scoring many, many more wins for Team Blue as time progressed. But that didn’t happen. Chris’s performance went off a cliff the next season, he seemed to descend into madness, and finally, Team Blue had seen enough. They let him go, and Chris and Chet quickly found themselves heading to Wreckeria to try again.

And it started so well. The Hawking-Byrd team traveled to the Sherpa Empire for the IRACT-sanctioned Rumble in the Rice Fields, and absolutely cleaned house, winning in convincing fashion, and enabling Chris to compete with an open charter for the next week’s NSSCRA race in Sherpaland. Chris felt that, after doing that well at the Rumble in the Rice Fields, he’d do great the next season with Hawking-Byrd. But it was not to be.

He wondered what would happen when he got home. Eventually, he stopped at a border crossing. The same one he had stopped at weeks before. A guard – the same one, in fact, that Chris had seen that day – stepped out of his post to see Chris’s car, and to see Chris, looking visibly downcast. Chris looked over and rolled down his window.

“Chris Holmes?” the border guard asked. “You going home?”

“Yes,” Chris said. “I can’t stay here.”

“I understand. Let me check your car to make sure you’re not carrying any weapons or anything,” the guard replied. “I know who you are, but it’s still my job to make sure.”

After about 20 minutes, the guard waved Chris on through.

“Welcome back to Hapilopper,” the guard said. “Hope you can turn things around.”

“Thank you,” Chris replied, trying to force a smile, but it was hard to do.

Chris drove into Hapilopper. Not far away was Border City, the first town in Hapilopper after the Wreckeria border. His final stop would be his parents’ house in Buckridge, a place he had moved away from just days before taking his first HASCAR ride four years earlier. His old bedroom had been turned into an office for his father, who worked as an insurance agent for Kenzie Family Insurance. He figured he’d move into their basement for a while until he could get back on his feet.

And for the first time in years, Chris started thinking of a life beyond racing. He figured he could work at a Mel’s Ultra Mart. After all, they paid well – about $15 an hour for associates. He could get a job there and start his life over. Maybe he could go to college and follow his family’s wishes. He could go to Buckridge University, major in something and get a nice job that he could support himself in.

By the time he stopped at a Duck-ee’s Gas Station a couple of hours later – the largest in all of Hapilopper, with over 150 gas pumps and a convenience station as large as a Mel’s – he had figured out his plans. He was going to leave the sport of racing behind. When he got home, he was going to unpack, apply for a job at a Mel’s, while applying for Buckridge University. His grades in high school were pretty good, his aptitude tests were good, and he figured if he worked for it, he could turn his life around.

No longer would Chris Holmes be known as the butt of the jokes in the racing world. He wanted to be known as the guy that made something out of himself doing some honest work for a change. The sun was starting to rise on Chris Holmes again. In all likelihood, his racing days were over, but his days as an adult were starting.

Cars will line up in Turn 4 and await their turn before passing the S/F line and entering the Tropicorp Visitor Center Special Competition Pit Road

Rules:
Teams are required to change both left-and right-side tires and empty a full load of fuel into the car using up to 2 cans. The timer begins when the nose of the vehicle breaks the plane of the pit box and ends when the rear tires have exited the pit box. All violations, unless otherwise noted, will incur a penalty of 2 seconds added to the time of the pit stop.

Penalties:
1. Crew members over the wall prior to vehicle passing the designated marker

2. Car running over jack

3. Car running over or under air hose or air wrench

4. Each Tire rolling uncontrolled outside of painted pit box

5. Any lug nut not secured by at least 80 foot pounds of torque

6. Any cross-threaded lug nut

7. Air gun handed or tossed between crew members

8. Pushing a car that is under power

9. Any tire not returned to inside half of pit box prior to vehicle departure

10. Jackman swinging the jack in an uncontrolled manner in transit or handing to another crew member

11. Equipment attached to the car when exiting the pits

12. Dropping any fueling equipment during the pitstop

13. More than 1 litre of fuel remaining in fuel cans (combined)

14. Crew member performing a job they were not registered to conduct (5 seconds per)

Drivers will take the track in the inverse order of the current NSSCRA Owners Point Standings. There will be two pit boxes in use during the competition allowing one team to set up their pit box while a different team is conducting their pit stop. The pit entry cone is adjusted accordingly for each competitor depending on which of the two pit boxes are in use for that round. After exiting the pit box and re-entering the main straightaway of the Tropicoast Beach Course, drivers must bring the vehicle to a complete stop in the Inspection Area where NSSCRA and Tropicorp officials will inspect the vehicle to ensure there are no infractions such as Loose or Cross-Threaded Lugnuts. There will also be an inspector in the Pit area to weigh fuel cans and monitor for other infractions.

After the race and the subsequent release of Chris Holmes, the UnionRacing management were pondering their options for the 3rd car they were planning to add to their stable the next year. One option on the board was to try to sign Holmes and have Gordon split time with Rush in the chartered slot they were afforded. But that brought up the problem that Holmes most likely wouldn't want to have to qualify for races given the debacle that was Hawking-Byrd. One solution was to have Gordon get the charter the races he piloted the 05 car and have Holmes get the charter when Rush was in the car. The proposed time split would be Gordon taking the last 5 races of the regular season and the last 3 races of the Chase. One of the scenarios that they feared would throw a wrench in this was the event that Rush got into position to points his way into the Chase and that Gordon would siphon points from Rush. The proposed solution was to make the 05 car a collective entry of Rush and Gordon. As far as anyone at Union knew it wasn't on the books that multiple drivers could pilot the same car in a season. Another dilemma emerged from this as Gordon had clearly expressed to Rush that he thought that he needed seat time and wouldn't drive part-time in Tier 1 if it meant he couldn't continue weekly racing. The workaround to this was to allow Gordon to race in the Everlong series if NSSCRA would allow it which as far as they knew they would as the rule was that a driver couldn't race in multiple series on the same weekend and there was nothing on the books about a driver racing in multiple series in the same season. Rush made a mental note to check with NSSCRA headquarters to see if this was legal. If he couldn't race in the support series, Stevens would create a factory-owned entry in the Sword Island National Series Championship, the national equivalent of NSSCRA, and put Gordon in the car for the race weekends he would otherwise be off for. Gordon agreed to this arrangement. The only moving piece was Chris Holmes. Sure he might have a track record of doing stupid and brash things but the man could drive a racecar and he had at least in the eyes of UnionRacing, matured enough as a person to take a chance on. The only thing left to do was to begin the negotiations and try to convince Holmes to take a chance on them.

GFR Clash Schemes Unveiled!

It's that time of the year again, and we're sure you were all excited! No, not Christmas, not Halloween, not the Day of St. Kanye (June 8, to our friends from overseas). We of course are talking about the day of unveiling for GFR's special Clash schemes!

The Vilaye Clash, held at the Yutzie River Speedway in Vilita, serves as an "all star race" of sorts for the NSSCRA, and this season's edition of the event could see up to four GFR cars participating. Jeremiah Brooke, the defending NSSCRA champion, is locked into the main feature race by virtue of the Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Award he earned for the Tundra Falls 500, while his teammates have all confirmed participation in the open heats (Sage Caldwell as the successor of the now retired Skip Stiller, Thea Alvarez with her poles last season, and Pyotr Lavrentiev with his poles in the Everlong Contenders' Series).

Let's kick off the unveiling with Caldwell. This is a callback to QED Car Rentals' first scheme in the NSSCRA, driven by Stiller himself four seasons ago. Note the shades of blue that are slightly different from today's "Blue Trey".

Image

Brooke's car will remain in the iconic Hyde colors of red, white and blue, but in a design more reminiscent of the cars used by SVJ Racing in the third season of WGP2. Why that team? You see, one of its members was Abdoulaye Goita, who went on to win not only the trophy but the Yeezies' friendship as well.

Image

Image
(OOC: Original scheme by Savojarna)

Alvarez's scheme is a simple reversal of her primary this season, being rainbow-colored with a silver stripe and roof. It's also closer in appearance to her car last season (which was all rainbow).

Image

There's also a special little detail on the car. Looking at the name on top of the driver side window, you see, well, the driver's name.

Image

However, when you go to the passenger side, there's this.

Image

Yes, Thea's stuffed animal "co-pilot" gets a shoutout.

Lavrentiev will be using the same scheme he won the Racing Collectors 300 in, but on a Tier 1 car and with NSSCRA rather than Everlong decals. This is also what he will appear in for the races where GFR successfully gets the open charter.

Image

Please note that these schemes will NOT be used at the Tropicorp 500, Sifaka 300K, or Pit Crew Challenge. The schedule for those remains as follows: QED for Caldwell, GGtech for Brooke and Multiversal/Girls Will Code for Alvarez, and Lavrentiev's car will of course be the Everlong version.
Gale Force Racing (NSSCRA Main Tier)
18 Jeremiah Brooke (S9 Champ, S13 Runner-up) | 27 Stacie Houston (S7 Champ, S12 Runner-up) | 46 Thea Alvarez (S10 Runner-up)

Skip Stiller Speedworks (NSSCRA Second Tier)
20 Sage Caldwell | 22 Pyotr Lavrentiev (S13 Champion) | 30 Lexi Patterson

Champion:
IBC 20, 22, 23, 24 (Basketball)
NSCAA 11 (College Basketball)
IC7 II, VI (7ball)
Arena Bowl VI (Arena Gridiron)
NSSCRA 9 (Stock Car Racing)

Runner-up:
World Bowl 42 (Gridiron)
NSSCRA 10, 12, 13

Bronze:
IBC 19

Olga Gatutina had decided to watch the Team Blue post-race press conference originally out of curiosity, but once the presser was finished, Olga was convinced that it had been fate that made her go to the press conference so she could see what was going wrong in her own team.

Olga then used the Team Blue presser to start off her own post-race debrief with UrGa's drivers, and then once Taylor Henderson had finished her no-holds-barred rant about the current situation of her team, Olga paused the video and turned to her drivers. "That right there is exactly the kind of thing that we are sadly lacking here in UrGa right now," she said. "That right there is a driver who knows that she can hang with the best the multiverse has to offer, but her equipment and team just can't or won't perform to the level that she would like.

"I can't believe I'm actually saying this," she continued, "but I miss the days of Archer and von Cärinthen being here in this tent. Yes, both of them had their issues that they couldn't keep from spilling out into the racetrack, but at least you knew that they were driven, motivated, competitive. Both of them would have done anything to gain even the slightest advantage over the rest of the field, and in the case of Guillermo Archer, you could even make a case that he succeeded in doing that. But what do I see here in front of me right now?" Olga asked. "I see a bunch of guys who are happy to have been given the chance to drive in NSSCRA. I'm sorry, but just being happy to be here is no longer enough."

Olga then walked up to Dinggu Wang and his translator and said, "I know I've said many times before that I believe that you have what it takes to be a NSSCRA champion even at your age, but now I have to say that your age is also working against you. We all know you only have a few years left in your career. Like it or not, that's the sad truth. Do you really want to spend it just prattling around in the midfield because you can't make your impressive qualifications count?"

Olga waited as the translator translated her words to Wang. She wondered if the translator was doing it word for word or if he was condensing her statements to give Wang something shorter, which could be more concise but not necessarily accurate. The sad look on Wang's face once the translator was finished speaking made Olga briefly think that maybe she had been too harsh with her words, but then she steeled herself once again. She needed to lay down the law now. She'd been offering her drivers the carrot; now it was time to hit them with the stick.

Olga then turned to Ganglie Zhe and said, "Look, I know that you weren't expecting to be competing in NSSCRA this season or maybe ever. And I know you're grateful to Mr. Baxter for giving you chance and now his ride. But now it's time for you to stop being blinded by the bright lights and pull your own weight. Yes, you have talent, and you have speed. But you're still driving like a fanboy. Wake up, man! You're a NSSCRA driver now! Act like it! And as for you," Olga said as she turned her attention to Hossem Nasri, "you could do with acting just a little bit more professional right now. I know that you know that there are some people on this grid that don't like you and how you got here in the first place. And saying that you'll just pay for a new chassis after you wrecked your ride in Alanis Star is not going to improve their opinion of you at all. Just... just don't keep flaunting your money all the time, got it?"

"Sure thing, boss," Nasri nodded, and then he stood up and walked out.

"Hang on! We're not yet done here!" Olga said, but she knew that her words were now falling on deaf ears. All other eyes in the room followed Nasri as he walked out, and then they all turned to Olga. "You know what?" she finally said after a moment of silence. "I've already said all that I needed to say anyway. I honestly and literally cannot think of anything more that I can possibly say to any of you right now. Just... remember what I said. Please. For the team."

The others nodded their head, and then they slowly started filing out of the room as well. Once Olga was left alone inside, she shook her head and muttered, "Fuck me." She couldn't believe that at this point in the season, she was already wishing that both Guillermo Archer and Wilma von Cärinthen would come back to UrGa. They were both pains in the ass to deal with, sure, but at least Olga knew that those two drivers still had that spark, that desire to win in them even when they were starting out in the midfield or as a must-qualify driver. Sad to say, but Olga didn't think she could see the same spark in her current stable just yet. Time would tell of course if she was wrong about her observations, but for the moment that was what she was seeing: a bunch of drivers just happy to be on the grid and not really interested in going for the win just yet. Nasri she could understand having that attitude, and maybe even Zhe. At this point last season Zhe was still just Leo Baxter's spotter. But not Wang. The man had already won an official NSSCRA race, in his "home" country even. Had his year out of the competition really affected him that much?

Olga knew very well that she could be overthinking all of this. But even then, she had already staked her reputation on the claim that she could make Dinggu Wang a NSSCRA champion, or at the very least, get him in the Chase. She believed that ever since she had seen him during NSSCRA Season 8, when she was conducting research in preparation for UrGa's entry into the competition the following season. It was clear that Olga Gatutina believed in Dinggu Wang, but now it seemed the question was if Dinggu Wang trusted Olga Gatutina and UrGa. And Olga was not sure if she wanted to know the answer to that question right now.

The Valentians – Starlight Speedway, Holly’s Delights, Nuuk, Greenland, Alanis Star (Valentine Z) (Superspeedway)

Image

As they concluded their race in the Fortress Run, the Valentians headed back to Cassadaigua for they have all landed their planes there. This time, they took an extra effort to go back early and to prepare their planes for the next take off because it was going to be much different, as Clarissa would put it, “Oooh, I just can’t wait to come back home!” However, due to shoddy paperwork that was improperly filled due to inexperience, Charlene managed to secure an airspace in Jebslund, in a way. “So I apologise for the error but,” Charlene trailed off before picking back up her documents and announced to the Valentians on both ships, “We could not secure the approval from Emperor Jeb due to the shoddy paperwork, which again was my fault. However, we got the next best thing! We will be going 200 km Southwest of Jebslund’s landmass in order to open the transdimensional portal to Valentine Z. We would be the planes leading the way, then the rest will follow, ensuring that we will all make it safely there.”

The plan was a bit shaky, but it would work, the Valentians reckoned to themselves. There was a small risk of the planes hitting the walls of the portal, but it would not absolutely disintegrate them; it would simply throw them off course, but ultimately still in Valentine Z. Packing up once again, the Valentians made their move, with Clarissa on the radio relaying the message and communication to the rest of the drivers and their cargo planes. “Well, hello there! So I assume that you have all read the guide to Valentine Z that we posted a while back. If not, do not worry, Clarissa is here to help you! Simply follow us through the portal, and we will be there in Valentine Z in no time! We will be the first ones to lead and open the portal, while you all follow behind us, within a reasonable distance of 500-1000 meters per plane. Please be safe, and see you all later!”

With the other planes following in unison and ensuring that there are either no overtaking or any planes getting lost, the second plane of the Valentians, the ones with second tier race team, stayed at the back of the line. After a few minutes of travelling, all of the planes went into the interdimensional portal without any incident, and ended up at the other side. “My fellow friends and drivers… Welcome to Valentine Z!” The portal opened up right at Greenland, the destination that they needed to be. Perhaps more of 20 kilometers away from the airport in order to let them land properly. 30 to 40 minutes would have passed, and they are finally here. A day and a half away from the qualifications and the actual race for the second tier racers. The Valentians hoped that these 1.5 days would be more or less sufficient for everyone to start practicing on the track. Given the frozen weather, being called Holly’s Delights for a reason, the trucks would find it a little difficult to grip and drive towards the track. The Starlight Speedway was recently built, an indoor track with complete climate control and pollutant filtering systems. The CO and other harmful gases would be ejected or converted into less harmful gases, and the temperature kept at 25 to 30 degrees Celsius.

The next day, and the qualifications came. Clarissa placed 22nd, Anastasia at 1st, and Gwen at 15th. The track was still new for Clarissa, so she figured and explained that this resulted in her less than stellar qualification results. The local record was only one of two things – either she pulled a miracle and tuned her vehicle to the right configurations, or that someone simple keyed in the results wrong. “Oh no, I did not pull a Mitchell with this one. Those Donkey Kong results were not achievable. Mine has a degree of possibility with the right configurations! As I said previously, I will gladly give rewards to those who managed to set a new record! That is a Clarissa challenge and promise, haha!”

Valentijn, on the other hand, placed herself 9th for the qualifications, and managed a podium finish. Not just any podium finish, but a 1st. She was certainly extremely comfortable with controlling her new body, and she showed this to new effect with her current results. “Well, this won’t be the only thing you guys will see today!” she told the press and for those who are watching her physically or at home, “Tomorrow, I have prepared something very neat for you guys!” For the rest of the night, while the first tier Valentians were practicing their butts off, Valentijn was practicing for the event tomorrow, while wearing a few different outfits in her own room.

The next day, came the race. Though before the race, Valentijn came up with the event that she was talking so much about. A military parade consisting of 500 Valentians marching around and exhibiting several displays, all in their intimidating but gentle tall statures and weapons. Valentijn was already back in her 20 feet self, opting for the middle ground instead of her giant body in order to make it less terrifying for the people involved. She was leading the parade, giving and shouting commands as a drill instructor would. “One, two, left, right, keep it in line, folks!” After the 20 minutes of display was over, on top of a national anthem, it was time for the race.

As for the race itself, Clarissa had an awful head start, thanks to her codes not working up to standard, specifically on how her learning rate was a little too large. It took her a little longer than she normally would in order to learn and adapt to the track. She eventually did, but at a cost of not as performing as she would expect to be, coming in at a 14th. Still, it was not as bad as Anastasia who qualified first but had her own fair share of problems not with her car but with the constant speeds that she was dealing with. She was not so much as made for the fast tracks, someone who is terrified of the high speeds not performing up to her standard was something that was beyond control, but she certainly kept going. Gwen would be the one taking the 5th position for this race, just 2 cars away from getting her podium finish. The three Valentians were yet to win something out of this race, but since they have only went for their 5th race, there was certainly a lot of time and commitment that they can put in it.

The Valentians – 1st Tier: Toys '4' All 500, Lonngeylin Ring, Lonngeylin, Vilita (Short Track); 2nd Tier: Racing Collectibles 300, Lonngeylin Ring, Lonngeylin, Vilita (Short Track)

Clarissa: 12, 1, 3, 7, 5, 1
Anastasia: 10, 4, 11, 8, 25, 12, 8
Gwen: 17, 14, 8, 17, 8, 15, 9
Valentijn: 5, 3

As all of the Valentians arrived at the same time (just that the name of the race was different for the two tiers), Clarissa was most definitely not one to be disappointed by such a turnout in her own home, out of all places. The Valentians have all expected great things from one another, but perhaps it was just a series of fumbles that were of little significance. After all, none of the Valentian drivers have experienced a DNF just yet, and it is most definitely for the better. While it was not exactly a disaster in the first place, finishing at 14th, 15th, and 5th respectively, the Valentians have been racing for either their second or third season at this point and figured that they could start scoring a little in their favor; not a lot and not to the point of making enemies, but perhaps simply to focus better. It is partially about winning now, but fun and experience are still on the forefront for the Valentians.

As they took one look at the short track, Gwen decided that this should be something that she should overcome the fear of. If she was going to perform badly in a short track just because of a few incidents and risk of pileups, she was not going to achieve as much. Anastasia, on the other hand, felt comfortable with the low speeds that the cars would be going around on. As for Clarissa, with the aid of Jenny, her crew chief and assistant programmer, she ironed out herself and ridded herself not of bugs but of the calculation parameters that she should take in and use in order to evaluate the best paths.

The qualifications were not too well for the first tier Valentians, as it would have seem. 12th, 10th, 17th. Looking longingly at their results, the three Valentians wondered what would be in store for them. Clarissa, however, was still determined, confident that her new measurements and learning parameters will be able to help her out tremendously. Maybe it would not work too well on the short track qualifications but it certainly could change for the actual race with other cars around. Anastasia was more or less expecting the results, citing that “I could do better, but there’s also knowing that I might have ended up worse, so… that helps!” Gwen, on the other hand, expected it fully and was still disappointed. There was going to be a lot of ground for her to take once the race begins, and given how this is a relatively small track in terms of category, overtaking will be easy in terms of speed, but difficult in techniques. Avoiding other drivers would be the forefront.

Valentijn, on the other hand, had different plans. While it was not as fantastic as the one she had previously in her own nation, getting a 5th for qualifications and a podium finish of 3rd was more than enough for her. “You know, it could be worse, I could be second, haha!” she thought to herself, “Second is the worst, as I have read it. You didn’t do enough to win like 1st place, and there was not a lot of accomplished feeling from just getting 3rd place. Though still, I can’t say this blatantly in front of the news crew.” Right after, she simply commented that “Short tracks were not exactly my speciality, but I’m most definitely trying my best out there. My luck should certainly change sooner or later with the next race.”

As the Valentians prepared to sleep it off for the next day, they noticed an advertisement about a certain race alongside a Pit Crew Challenge. However, they have all been rather exhausted for the day and as a result, didn’t bother to check until tomorrow. “Nah, don’t worry about that!” Gwen told the rest, “We certainly have a lot of time to check it out tomorrow. For now, we rest! All the best!”

The next day indeed come in, and it was once again time for their race. Whilst not so confident with their qualifications, the Valentians felt that this should at least give this a try. Especially with Anastasia who was more than ready. Gwen could be seen hesitating and fidgeting around with her water bottle, taking a few sniffs to ensure that there are no eggs inside if it, and that it is simply pure water. No energy drinks, no raw egg mix, just plain old water. “Going green soon, get ready,” Jenny, Jared, and Marcus announced on the Comms for their respective drivers, “Good luck!”

And they are away!

For the entirety of the race, Anastasia and Gwen took it conservatively, ensuring that they have more or less enough time and space against other drivers – Anastasia was much more confident but that does not mean that she was going to cheat her way to the top. Gwen was so much more conservative, trying to find a way around a cluster of vehicles everywhere around her. Anastasia told her to stay behind her as much as she can, in order to ensure a degree of success for both of them. Clarissa, on the other hand, has other plans. While regarding the safety of everyone involved, her learning rate and skills, as well as her making Lightspeed calculations, simply could not be paralleled by anyone else. Adapting constantly, sharp movements, and making sure that her vehicle is in tiptop condition, Clarissa tore through lap after lap after lap, only stopping for tires and fuel as she usually does, and then going back to burning rubber once more. “Wow, Clarrie, look at you go! Those numbers must have done great things!” Jenny exclaimed on the radio gleefully, much to Clarissa’s happiness and extremely high levels of confidence and joy. Given how the vehicles were bunched together, she could not make out her position. She could talk to Jenny or look around for TVs or boards, but she simply was focused too much on the driving. She drove, and drive, turned a little to the pits and drove off once more. The white flag was up as soon as she passed the finish line. Could this really be it? She thought to herself. With one more lap to go, and a familiar #41 behind her, she gunned for the lap around, making sure to still follow the optimal route and speeds. As she drove forward more, Clarissa started overdriving her CPU cores, the equivalence of human heart beating faster and generating a lot more adrenaline.

As she passed the finish line, she did it. She did it all. “Congratulations, Clarrie! You did it!” Jenny screamed, along with many more other chatter and congratulatory messages filling the radio chatter. She finally saw the board. “1st – #7”. She finally did it after all. In her blue fire outfit that complements her bright blue skin and personality, she ran up to the podium, trophy in hand, and simply celebrating and waving about. So many questions, so many interviews, so many press coverages on that day. Clarissa remedied this by giving priority to those that would like her face to be recorded. As for the rest who simply needs her text input, she booked herself to a LAN and split herself into many processes with the sole purpose of merging again later to process them.

The Valentians certainly had a hearty celebration. They did not forget about the efforts of Anastasia and Gwen, who also finished 8th and 9th respectively. All in all, they scored it like they did back in Terre Sept., though it was certainly not that good just yet. It will be yet to come but for that one night, the Valentians ordered lots of Lhotse Love food and ate a lot of servings. “Lhotse food to go around!” Valentijn announced, her wife Clarissa in one arm, and giving a shoulder pat to Anastasia, Gwen, Holly, and Jolyn, “Hey, don’t be disheartened. I really like all of you and you guys are making me proud as well. I can certainly see the improvement in results. As for Jolyn, I’m just really glad to have you back in NSSCRA as well. I understand this was a really tough time for you, but I’m happy and glad that you have been persistent in making it out there.”

With that all said and done, finally for the advertisement that they saw yesterday. Vilaye Clash, it would seem. “up the Vilitan Coast at the Yutzie River Raceway right in the Vilisorma Beverage Company’s backyard in Vilisorma, Vilita,” according to the advert. More importantly, the list of drivers eligible. “Clarissa and Anastasia? Woo hoo, we are already inside!” Clarissa exclaimed happily as she and Anastasia gave a high five. Gwen was also an eligible name, and so did she decided to sign up. Valentijn as well, though she figured that she would need a car. Holly volunteered to hand over her car and her crew for Valentijn to use; she was not only not sad that her name was not inside, Holly was trying her best to keep it on the down low for most of the race. She was simply her for the race and the thrill, the idea of being featured too much in other events was something she was taking in slowly. Additionally, there was also the Pit Crew Challenge, and as a name suggests, a challenge to finish a pit stop as fast as the team can while avoiding penalties. Valentijn proceeded to start writing an email on behalf of both the Valentians and the Gardeners.

Gordon Orton came to the Lonngeylin track ready, it was his bread and butter, a small oval track like many back in his home in Xanneria. Orton was a regular at mny short ovals in his early 20s in the north central areas of Xanneria. These tracks ranged from Half Miles to Quarter Miles, Mr Orton was ready or so he though. Practice went a bit weirdly for the 57 car

SPOTTER: Oooooh the 25 is up high ahead of you

SPOTTER: Slow down he looks wiggly! He's sideways, go low! go low! You around him! And he just ate shit into the outside wall! he over corrected it

SPOTTER: Pull in I think they're gonna redflag this practice session

The 25 of poor Ahron Ahndreus had lost control of his car in the second turn of the track, Orton went low to pass him but Ahndreus inexperience caught up with him and he over corrected the car nosing it into the outside wall despite face the opposite angle and the start of the spin.

ORTON: What happened with the 25?

CREW GUY: I'unno man, that driver looks fresh out of the pond, and int he baddest of ways

CREW CHIEF: Yeah I've heard things about that team, somebody told me a rumor that team lost a money funder last second and they couldn't get the drivers they wanted. Heard they haven't even been able to pay for their charter yet.

ORTON: Damn that sucks, I wouldn't have to do that, reminds me of Central Shanesville a few years ago. Thats reminds me how's Jeff been racing back there?

CREW CHIEF: Yeah I hear he's a god of racing there now!

For the race, Orton plugged in an okish lap that would get him all of 39th spot.

SPOTTER: Green Flag is out! Car High!

SPOTTER: Caution out! Caution out! slow down!

ORTON: What the fuck, already?

SPOTTER: Henderson just ran over the 25 on the first lap.

ORTON:
Really? Really?! Are you sure he didn't just spin himself on her bumper?

Needless to say this would set the tone for this race, and it wouldn't be over for the 57 team.

SPOTTER: Looks like some black cars dumpin' oil on the track be careful should be a yellow soon.

SPOTTER: And he blew up!

SPOTTER:
And your Crashed, Car on top!, Car on top!

CREW CHIEF: You ok?

ORTON: Yeah who the fuck slid in to me?

SPOTTER: Can't tell I think it's the Twicetagrian car! they're on their roof now though...

ORTON: Hey Our Car is gonna be running, let the boys band-aid it up. I doubt this looks pretty!

Unbeknownst to many a car had been leaking fluid on the track, and oil line had malfunctioned on a fellow competitors car and slicked up the track, Orton was running high around the outside fo the track when the 84 car of Layla Diamantriov slipped in the oil and took a direct flight off the rear end of Orton! Diamantriov ended up on their roof, out of the race and Orton ended up with his car extremely scared, but Orton was able to continue on! That would elad to some bigg issues down the road.

Lap 175

CREW CHIEF: Alright come in for fuel, we are sharing the stall with another team remember

CREW CHIEF: And your in!

CREW CHIEF: GET OUT! GET OUT!

ORTON: What?

CREW CHIEF: Your cars ass is on fire and Carl just chucked a flamin' Gas can into the Scott Hawkings stall

Orton escaped the car and everyone was fine. Apprently when the initial wreck with Diamantriov happened the fuel line to the gas tank got a small crack in it, so when the fuel guy filled up the car a small bit leaked on the hot brakes (The team has drum brakes set in the back of the car) and caught the car on fire, the Gas man promptly yeeted the fire engulfed gas can into the neighboring pit stall and the race was promptly over for Orton, a 43rd place finish the hardway

While Union were trying (and failing) to get Chris Holmes in a UnionRacing ride next season Stevens Motorsports were in the middle of their hunt for a second Tier 1 driver. One person of interest was Ryan Pearson.

He had been a consistent driver in SINCS for years(9 seasons, 324 starts, 18 wins, 9 Chase appearances, 1 Championship 4 appearance, average finish of 15.9) until he had his breakthrough 2 years ago and won a title while winning 14 races in a historically lopsided season in which he won 10 races in the regular season and a race in the Round of 16, 12, and 8 and capped it off with a dominating performance in the Championship 4. Since then he has put up championship caliber seasons, winning 8 races the season after his championship and is on pace for 9 wins this season. So he had a championship pedigree and experience behind the wheel, both things Stevens needed in a driver to pair with an inexperienced Lexie Shelby next season. And to top it off his contract was expiring this year and he had already expressed that he would not return to GasAndGo Motorsports. But that also created a bit of a problem: SINCS had a rule stating that teams from other race series had to match the offer made by the highest bidding SINCS team to sign a driver from the series. Pearson knew this and had been playing hardball with the many national series teams bidding for his services next season hoping to drive the price up for his preferred landing spot, Stevens Motorsports. So far the bidding war had made Stevens's initial offer of 2 million ballon to 14 million NS dollars and majority ownership of his ride. If this game of chicken continued then Stevens would be put in a bad financial position for the near future. So they decided to hit a knockout blow and offer him 15 million, majority ownership of his car, majority ownership of the Stevens development driver program in SINCS, and a 25% stake in the #04 car. The offer was sent immediately after the Toys '4' All 500 and so far the only word back from Pearson was that he would like to take a tour of the Stevens racing shop.

The garage area was a pretty pleasant place to be after the Toys '4' All 500. Both Kassie and Micheal had run better than expected all weekend and the next race, a 4.1 sprint of a track that featured both paved and sand sections, was expected to fall right into the wheelhouse of the UnionRacing team as their car for the weekend was a modified version of their superspeedway car built to reach the highest speed all 3 drivers thought they could reasonably do on the long straights. To create some downforce entering turns 1 and 2 the R&D department had created a pretty ingenious DRS system: the wing angle was controlled by a spring so that when the car was in the straights it would stay down and when it was in turns the wing would pop up. They also decided to roll with a harder tire, partly to increase tire mileage and partly to combat the abrasive sand surface that a good portion of the race would be held in. Meanwhile, the message Gordon and the Everlong team received this week was to find their mojo again. It felt like they had found some of it on Saturday before Gordon wrecked his car and went 55 laps down. He managed to claw his way back to a top-30 spot but the damage had been done. Chris had been in a tailspin as of recently and needed an adjustment to get back to the form he was in earlier in the season. That adjustment came in the form of his crew chief's new idea: Gordon needed to find a partner in the garage.

"Let him pass you," Houzhi Chang said on the radio. "You'll be able to catch him later, or pass him in the pits."

"No way!" said Qiang. "It's the Stationary Star. If I get stuck behind him I'll be running 40th!"

Qiang had gotten dragged into a shoving match with Hengxing Tian, and the crashing and bashing was slowing them both down -- but they were both too stubborn to back off. Qiang called Tian a colorful assortment of obscene names, as well as the comparatively mild "capitalist pig." Qiang's crew had a guy listening in on other teams' radio chatter so they knew Tian was cussing up a storm of his own.

"He's obviously found some speed or you would have lost him already," Chang insisted.

"Yeah, fuck that noise!" said Qiang. He went barreling into the outside of turn 3, using the banking to help him around so he barely had to brake, then back down to the inside as he came around turn 4. "Am I clear of Piggy?" he asked.

"You're clear -- NO, WAIT!!! SHIT!!!"

There was an ugly crunch and Qiang's car went skidding sideways. "WHAT THE FUCK???"

"Sorry, I thought he was going to make that turn!" Qiang's spotter apologized.

Qiang's car was still running, but the spin had loosened one of his wheels, so he had no choice but to limp into the pits for a repair. When he returned to the race, he was a long way back from the lead pack, but he was free from his battle with Tian. He was still pissed off, but that could wait till after the race. Right now, he had work to do. He nudged his way past Tyler Butler and started climbing back up the field.

He made it back up to 11th, which wasn't that bad all things considered, but he hadn't forgotten how Tian spun him out. After the race he stormed off toward Tian's hauler saying, "I'm going to butcher that pig!"

Houzhi Chang had to grab him and pull him back. "Come on, don't get yourself in a fight. Go check on Tsering or something."

"After I finish with Tian!" Qiang said.

Tsering Chu had retired from the race with an engine failure, and it was obvious that she was getting frustrated with her struggles on the track. As this scene with Qiang and Chang played out, she was curled up in a corner having a good cry. Tomorrow, her team would take the engine apart and try to figure out what they were doing wrong. It was the 2nd week in a row that their engine had given them trouble, so they really needed to get to the bottom of what was causing the problems. But right now, Tsering just needed to get some emotions out of her system.

Houzhi Chang had Kai Qiang in a chokehold to stop him from attack Hengxing Tian. "You complain about Mendok and then you do this?" Qiang stammered, struggling to get the words out because he couldn't get enough air.

"Okay, let me take care of Tian," said Chang. "You're just going to get yourself beat up."

"I can fight my own fights!" said Qiang.

"Oh, really?" Chang said.

Qiang squirmed helplessly, unable to free himself from Chang's grasp, until he had to give it up because he was about to pass out. Chang sat him down to catch his breath. "Why do we have to do this every fucking season?"

"You saw what he did!"

Lexi was furious. A late-race DNF, courtesy of a blown-out tire leading to an uncontrolled spinout into the wall, had resulted in a worryingly poor finish. Sie Nah, upon reviewing the reports from her pit crew, would later reassure her that this finish would not be considered in reviewing her performance, but it had certainly not helped matters. Nor would it help her mood much, given that the tire was determined to have likely been defective, as it had blown out after a late-race pit and had not had enough time to wear down that much. Inspection of the remaining tires on stock turned up no other defective tires, leading to the consensus being that it had been a freak incident, possibly a case of a defect having somehow slipped past QA, and one not likely to come up again. Upon recieving an invite for the Villaye Clash, Lexi gladly accepted, having no intention of missing out on any races this season if she could help it.

Meanwhile, Oberfeldwebel Erik "Magier" Kerman was preparing for the Lao Long 380. Absent a reply to their preference for vehicle, it was decided to go with the armored car, though the stock car variant was also brought along in case officials at the track took offense to the armored car. The number 88 was proudly displayed on both vehicles, which bore a gold and blue paint scheme and a fierce-looking dragon painted on the hood with a banner emblazoned with the emblem of Lindwurm, a popular energy drink, in its talons. Lindwurm sponsored several racers in both the PRL and the RVdSCAR, and part of its image was being popular with teams and fans in those leagues. Lindwurm would be requesting permission to set up booths at the Lao Long 380 as well. Some of Magier's usual associate sponsors had had to forgo their usual trackside activities due to not being permitted to sell merchandise at any IRACT tracks, but they had made do.

Hana may have been rueing that she qualified poorly in the Lonngeylin Ring, as she had the car to compete inside the top ten, heck even the top five. Her 21st place start is her worst this season, but she managed to use the grip of the Tropicorp tyres and the grunt of the Badai Angin engine to start picking up places to 13th with 1/5 of the advertised race distance completed. She struggled and lost several places coming into the second half of the race, but in the longer runs, she was able to conserve the tyres and ran as high as 8th, before eventually finishing 10th, good enough for her second top 10 finish and keeping her inside the Top 15 in driver points.

After the race when she put the GWC/Zalada #0 car into the pit road, she was congratulated by the team and her teammate, Fiona, who failed to qualify for the fourth time this season. The two were called into the BA Tim motorhome by Werner, informing the two of the potential changes in the team brought upon by Grupo Varadi taking the majority share of Badai Angin's motorsport division. He even told Fiona that she might be moved to another team that has a charter to have her qualify for the upcoming races. However, Hana told the team boss that she is willing to give the #0 charter to her teammate, having felt guilty that her decision to stay in the organization have caused the issues they have with the #00 team.

"We'll do that swap when you win a race, Hana. We cannot afford to risk you losing points and not make the playoffs. We have a better chance this season with the improvements we have." Werner disagreed to what Hana proposed as she is perceived by Werner to be a contender for the playoffs at least this season, and having her not qualify for some races may hurt her chances in keeping the top 16 spot. "Don't worry though, Fiona will still be a BA Tim driver for the foreseeable future, we just need to manage the expectation of our sponsors."

Hana understood what Werner is trying to say, but she does not want to have Fiona moved to another team as it would be probably a hindrance to her development as a driver.

At Filindostan meanwhile, four BA Kecepatan K8s were being prepared for the Lao Long 380, with Mercy Binayas and Marinel Agamata driving the cars. The former is very determined to prove that she should have been selected to drive for the main NSSCRA team this season instead of FIona, and she intends to win the race to make it to the TMW 500. For Marinel, this will be her first overseas race and she will relish the opportunity to compete with other cars, with her having been confined to FISCAR for the past seasons.

Mercy is not advertised to appear in the Contenders' Series race at Tropicorp, as Tadashi will continue to drive the #0 for the Katana Racing organization, while Barnabas is hoping to win his first race of the season.

老龍 380 JUSENKYO TRAINING GROUND

Zhangjiajie Racing Club and Jusenkyo Training Ground welcomed racers and fans from around the world this weekend for the Lao Long 380, sponsored by Lao Long Herbal Medicine Group. It was not quite as large a crowd as NSSCRA 8 when the Lao Long 380 was included in the NSSCRA calendar, but there was a good festive atmosphere without the international tensions and animosity that marred the event two years ago. There may have been a couple of people who had one too many beers or who got turned into newts because they ignored the warnings not to touch the Cursed Springs, but the overall mood was friendly and festive. It was a hot afternoon, especially for this time of year, but booths around the track were ready to keep the fans hydrated with Westlake tea, Lindwurm energy drinks, and Nongfu spring water (bottled in Hangzhou, not at Jusenkyo).

The Gardeners – Starlight Speedway, Holly’s Delights, Nuuk, Greenland, Alanis Star (Valentine Z) (Superspeedway)

Image

Along with the rest of the Valentians, Holly and Jolyn made it into Valentine Z once again, the place that is as familiar as time to them even with a relatively new race course on it. As they disembark out of their large planes, Jolyn quickly put on a thick layer of winter clothing, while Holly was more or less unfazed. She was still wearing a blue dress on her light blue skin, and nothing else. Unlike Clarissa, it was not that she’s a robot. Holly is an unusual character, being made out of magical lights, and those lights gaining sentience and sapience from some unknown cosmic coincidence. “Well, well, time to show these people who Holly Starlight really is!” she whispered to herself with a wholesome glee, anticipating and getting ready for the qualifications and the race, as well as the show that she is putting on in order to show the world about her. Perhaps it would be said that she needs to be careful with how she approaches the people around her, but letting them know a little about her would not seem to hurt. Jolyn, on the other hand, was more or less preparing herself for the average. She had an absolutely safety net in this race, since given that this is the hometown for the Valentians, she could use the open charter if she did not qualify for one. Sure, someone might have lost the opportunity, but she was certainly more than ready to prove that she also is meant for greater things if people were to move on from her shortcomings and mistakes.

The qualifications happened on the next day, and it was nothing spectacular or noteworthy. With a 65th from Holly and a 52nd from Jolyn, including the other entities that did not qualify for the race, the Gardener Valentians (a term for Holly and Jolyn, the two drivers separate from Valentine Z’s main team) were looking a little gloomy at the end of the day. They have heard about Valentijn’s success of finishing 3rd, but just like the main team, the qualifications were less than stellar, especially for a race course in their own home. “I will admit, I was a little too focused on my own performance later, hmhm!” Holly spoke to the press with her full firesuit on, ensuring that no one has seen her just yet, “Tomorrow, hopefully that luck might change.” As for Jolyn, even after a few qualifications, she was still trying her best to get the hang of the whole NSSCRA business once again. She felt that her bumpy past might have done a number to her career but then again, people have had even worse and scandalous controversies surrounding them. Still, that was not an excuse for Jolyn and the Valentians to be insensitive. It would have been great if none of that happened in the first place but since it has seen the light of public eye, the Valentians, and Jolyn especially, are going to fix their own image the right way – to prove their worth.

The next day, the race happened as per normal, with Holly finishing at a 39th, and Jolyn at a 37th. While it was not exactly the most shabby of results, it was till embarrassingly low when the Gardeners considered that there were only 41 cars finishing up in the end. There were technically 46, but 5 of them have DNFed. Jolyn tried to make light of the situation, citing that “Well, for a starter… it’s not so bad. I mean, this is my first time in NSSCRA 10 with actual drivers. ACTUAL, imagine that. For the past few races, I have been doing nothing but qualifications, and it starts to wear on your mind.” As for Holly Starlight, she was still going through with her own plans.

After the race, a few of the visitors and Valentians alike would have went off to several places – some of them went to other parts of Valentine Z for sightseeing or for other business opportunities. A few others have departed to the next venue (using the dimension portal that the Valentians have provided, 5 km south of Nuuk). Still, even then, there were still a healthy and supportive amount of visitors (drivers, crew members, and other average tourists) have stayed to see the wonder of Holly Starlight as they take their seats in part of the speedway that has rows and rows of chairs overlooking a distant, dark, and plain landscape of Nuuk, Greenland. It was used for outdoor sightings, aurora borealis, and now for Holly’s Lightshow. It was a perfect setting, the skies navy blue with a few stars sprinkled but not too many, the clear weather, and the level snowy horizon.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, fellow racers and friends of Valentine Z… We would like to present to you tonight’s one and only spectacular performance – Holly Starlight!” Clarissa announced on the PA system as Holly could be seen outside, still in her firesuit, and walking slowly to the center of the crowd. Along the way, extracts of her pre-recorded voice plays on the systems, narrating her story as she was going to put on a show outside.

“Welcome, everyone. My friends, my very esteemed friends! It is such a delight to have you all around here. I am Holly Starlight. Now, you might be wondering about me – why am I always seem in my suit? Why could not anyone other than the Valentians be allowed to see my looks? Well, today, I will show you the nature of myself!”

As she take out her suit, a little figure could be seen in the distance which eventually grew to a towering 31 meters, just enough for the whole of audience to see. Many gasps and exclaimations were heard in the audience, mostly non-Valentians.” The brilliant and radiant shades of blue filled the navy blue sky, Holly in her usual form with her short light blue hair, and a body with a “dress” that is a darker shade than the rest of her body.

“Now now, please do not be alarmed. I am sure quite a handful of you might have seen magic before. Or at least heard of it. It does not exist in most worlds, but it surely does in Valentine Z! My world, my little dimension, is a magical marvel that has defied many laws of physics and science, existing solely for me! I was born inside of this vast world, which looks pretty small from the outside, I will have to say that. Now, please do allow me!” As she trails off her last sentence, Holly shoots out a burst of energy into the sky, lighting it up with every colour of the visible light spectrum. A burst of elated and energetic melody also plays on the PA Systems, filling the place with magic, wonder, lights, and just about general niceness and wholesomeness. Holly was not done with solely making lights; she also made a smaller stage in front of her consisting of little light blue creatures running about. A little kitten was running around playing with the other tiny and adorable animals, all before fading away.

After several more acts, Holly, still in her 31 meter body, lied down in front of the audience, laying down on her chest as she looks up. Her face unfortunately could not be seen, but she was giving a giggle and a smile (the later lost to the audience) “I would like to dedicate this to the Valentians around me. Instead of exploiting and using me recklessly, they recognised me as a friend, and have let me to you wonderful people. I have been isolated from the outside world for many years and eternities, nervous and anxious about what they would do to me. Many horror stories, many terrible tales… however, I have found pleasure and company in sportsmanlike people such as you all. Thank you for attending, and thank you, for everything that you have all done for me.”

Standing up and walking back a few steps, she placed both of her hands on her chest, of where a human heart of her form would usually be at. She shrunk back to her normal size, followed by flying towards the right in a streak of light.

It's the beach race at Tropicoast. Half compacted sand, half asphalt, the Tropicoast Beach Course was once again playing host to the Tropicorp 500, one of the bigger events on the NSSCRA calendar and a treat for drivers to watch, as well as for car companies to analyze automobiles on 2 different surfaces. It wasn't as fast as, say, Tundra Falls, but if there's one thing Tropicorp could show everybody, it's a damn good time.

It sure as well is a damn good time to confirm your entry (For real this time) in the Tropicorp Pit Crew Competition if you're the #40 team. This was going to be one hell of a weekend, and with Tropicoast not lacking in terms of entertainment for the small heap of Squidroidian fans that showed up the time sure did pass by before qualifying for the main event began.

When Shigeru did start his hot lap around the half and half circuit, he found it to be a joy to sling around his #40 car around the long, long track. Yes, that sentence did sound childish, but with how long this course was, it was a given - Compacted sand and all. He managed to find compacted sand a joy to drive on, almost like it was a second road. Ishikawa took this joy with him as he set a damn good lap around the circuit, at least compared to the lower rung of the field - A 1:48.408 laptime, 2nd only to Micheal Rush from Sword Island when it came to rookies. Good drive indeed.

A 19th place qualifying session for the Squidroidian was a good result, but there seemed to be a theme - The #40 machine was a beast at qualifying, but during the races, at least at the superspeedways, there was a habit for the car to... Let's just say not perform as well. It was an issue they were trying to fix, but it always seemed to unravel, whether or not it was a result of beating and banging racing or not. The last thing the team wanted was for this to happen again...

Meanwhile at Jusenkyo, the Lao Long 380 was having its qualifying session, and for WGPC driver Daryl Mizushima, it seemed like he had a pretty fast Inklingcraft machine on his hands. It wasn't the fastest in the field - As a one off that was for sure, he was getting challenges from the IRACT regulars like Shao Mengxia and Zhu Shuzhen. But with this car he was mad fast through the just over 2 mile track, and his offseason couldn't start any better - He qualified 6th, behind a familiar WGPC face... Cocoabo #23.

It was his first time qualifying in a stock car, yes. But with the prowess he showed at the oval you could be mistaken for the fact that he seemed like a better stock car driver than a open wheeler. It might be because of the machinery being used, it might be a show of skill he only showed at Hap City, it might be sheer dumb luck. For the Inklingcraft team, it was a win - But not the big win. That was at the main race tomorrow. For now, however, he was taking it all in. Such a majestic piece of land... It was a shame that this was only going to last for a little bit.

As the Inklingcraft team who went to Jusenkyo were fine tuning the car for the race, Daryl was calling Shigeru, both of whom were taking their breaks after a long day of racing from the two.

"Hello?" Shigeru would say as he picked up the call.

"It's Daryl again, nice to meet you! So, how was qualifying at Tropicoast?"

"A blast! I qualified 19th on the grid!" Shigeru joyfully said, not knowing about what Daryl just did.

"Pfffft. I got sixth. Say, that was a nice car you gave me!"

"No way, dude..." Shigeru stayed silent for a couple seconds, taking it all in. "That's superb! I knew you had it in ya!"

"You're too kind, Shigeru. Race is tomorrow, so I don't really have much more time with this #63 before it turns back into a #40."

"Look Daryl, whatever you do in that race, I'm proud of you. You have the feel of a stock car driver within you. Maybe with some luck we're both going to be racing in Ramba!"

"Racing in Ramba? That's if I win the race silly!" Mizushima laughed as he took a sip of Westlake tea from his teacup. "If I don't win the race, it's still a fun experience to hone my skills for the upcoming WGPC season."

"Keep doing what you're doing Daryl. See you after the race!"

"Goodbye Shigeru!" Mizushima smiled as he hung up the phone, going back to his tea.

12 car to withdraw from NSSCRA - Focus on Domestic Racing
excerpt from http://www.xtrasports.xan/nsscra

TROPICORP - In a shocking announcement, KRD Team Iona Boss Derek Iona has made an announcement that after the Tropicorp round the #12 of Roman Gwinnett will no longer be running in NSSCRA, but the team will be ran in the domestic series "XCAR". The Statement made comments about the teams budget being tight enough that the two cars were strangling the KRD team as a whole.

Here's what he said

Unfortunately we need to move Gwinnett over to a different series. At the time we entered this season we had put in the same amount of money into each car as we did last season. THe problem appears is that we didn't take into account Tropicorp and Team Blue having to also contend for open charter and they have been spending much more than we have and the results show. It is clear teams like UrGa have a much much bigger set of pocketbooks than we did with the way Nasr and von Carenthen were able to run those cars out of the gate. We do plan to bring back Gwinnett sometime this season for a one off, but as of now he has agreed that the team will better off with him running XCAR and us focusing on Walters Jr.

NO word on what races that Gwinnett will return to or weather he'll be back next season.
