The Fruit Smiles City Times

Fruit Smiles City - President Jim Evans has announced that he has signed legislation making all drugs legal. President Evans is quoted as saying about the law, "What people do to themselves is their own business."

The new law has understandably caused panic among the Fruit Smiles Socialist Party. An official statement from the organization reads: We strenuously object to this misguided legislation. It will only cause chaos and sow disorder in an already chaotic nation. WORKERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!

The rest of Fruit Smiles seems to support the law, with polling suggesting that it enjoys 98.7% approval nationwide.

At publishing time, stocks in pharmaceutical companies are plummeting to record lows.

Drongonia sides with Australia after Chinese paper posts "horrible" fake image of Australian soldier
Christchurch, Drongonia
December 1, 2020 | Jason Walls

The image shows an Aussie soldier cutting an Afghan child's throat

Chinese officials have delivered a stinging response to demands for an apology over a shocking faked photograph of an Australian soldier, accusing Australia of “barbarism” and saying the government should feel ashamed. On Monday evening, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying delivered a statement on live TV doubling down on the disturbing image posted by her colleague.

“Some Australian soldiers committed serious crimes in Afghanistan,” she said. “The details are appalling and shocking including men and boys who were shot dead all with their throats slit while blindfolded. There are stories about two 14-year-old boys whose throats were slit and their bodies were thrown into a recruit and recruits were told to kill prisoners in a practise known as blooding. These cruel crimes have been condemned by the international community.”

Meanwhile the editor-in-chief of state media outlet The Global Times, Hu Xinjin said the country is at the “urban-rural fringe of civilisation where gangsters roamed” in a series of inflammatory tweets.

Prime Minister Bill English has issued a challenge to China in the wake of the controversy, quoted as telling China to "look inside its own borders for a second at the millions of citizens it has slain in its pursuit of Han Chinese supremacy." and that "...China should, quite frankly, shut up." Prime Minister English went on to both defend Australia and scold China for their role in the COVID-19 outbreak, saying that "...you can be assured that due process will be followed in regards to the alleged war crimes committed by Australians in Afghanistan. One must forgive China for not knowing this, as they've never heard of due process. Their version of due process is silencing all who are courageous enough to question the CCP. Their version of due process is locking up millions of minorities in internment camps and starving them to death. Their version of due process is disappearing doctors who dare to speak out about the true nature of COVID from within China."

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison thanked English for his support, saying that "Prime Minister English's strong rebuke of China only further strengthens the friendship and the kinship our two nations share." Morrison called an unscheduled press conference yesterday to respond to the image which was posted on an official Chinese Government account over alleged “war crimes” in Afghanistan.

“The post made today, the repugnant post made today of a falsified image of an Australian soldier threatening a young child with a knife, a post made on an official Chinese government account, posted by the deputy director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is truly repugnant,’’ Morrison said. “It is deeply offensive to every Australian, every Australian who has served in that uniform, every Australian who serves in that uniform today. Everyone who has pulled on a uniform and served with Australians overseas from whatever nation, that they have done that. It is utterly outrageous and it cannot be justified on any basis whatsoever.”

Prime Minister Morrison said the fact that it was posted on an official Chinese government account was “shameful.”

“The Chinese government should be totally ashamed of this post,’’ he said.

Health Minister: COVID-19 vaccines "not up to regulatory standard" yet, public vaccine trust low
Christchurch, Drongonia
December 5, 2020 | Samantha Pullman

There is a significant approval process for all vaccines. Photo: // File

Interim Health Minister Leah Driver fronted a press conference yesterday following news from the United Kingdom that emergency legislation has allowed the use of a COVID-19 vaccine as early as next week, saying that Drongonia was "definitely not going to do something in that vain."

Driver explained that due to the fact that the vaccine was developed significantly faster than the usual years-long development and testing process, a more rigorous approval process would need to be followed before a Drongonian rollout would be considered. She also confirmed to media that Drongonia has yet to commit to purchasing any vaccine, with Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZenica vaccines all being considered alongside the University of Christchurch-created vaccine being developed. She told media that "Drongonia is considering its options in regards to which vaccine, or combination of vaccines may be used."

Prime Minister Bill English was also in attendance, and he took the time to both reaffirm to the public that the vaccine would not be mandatory and pour cold water onto claims he is playing into the hands of COVID vaccine conspiracy theorists. "This isn't about appeasing anti-vaxxers, this is about the public's rights as well as our Governmental obligations. As a Government, it's our obligation to provide Drongonians with an effective vaccination whenever serious diseases like this [COVID] pop up, but it's still a choice at the end of the day." PM English refused to comment when asked if he'd take the vaccine once it arrives in Drongonia, saying only that he is "thinking about it."

Typically, vaccines have taken approximately a year to make their way through the Ministry of Health's testing regime and enter general circulation, which was the case with the last widespread vaccine rolled out in Drongonia, Gardasil for HPV. The vaccine first arrived in other countries as early as 2006, but was not authorised for use in Drongonia until February 2008.

Critics of the Government's long-winded vaccine approval process cite the need to have Drongonia opened to the world, with the head of the Drongonian Tourism Operators Assocation, Max Steinberg, asserts that Drongonia is likely to be "left behind to rot" without a quick vaccination programme rollout. "Drongonia will be left behind to rot for sure, we're missing out on hundreds of millions of dollars already by keeping our borders closed, and every day that we leave our citizens unvaccinated we're only costing the economy more."

A survey conducted by FUX News suggests that Drongonians have mixed feelings about the COVID-19 vaccines. 53% of those surveyed said they had no intention of being vaccinated, with 40% saying they would be and the remaining 7% being unsure. The survey's director of research, Vijay Kumar, points to the relatively minor impact caused to Drongonia by COVID-19 in comparison to other nations, "We've seen in many other countries, people have died and the whole place has been locked down, as a result people will definitely be queuing up around the block for a vaccine. In Drongonia, not so much. Nobody has died here and we were locked down for less than a month. People aren't seeing this virus as being particularly serious."

FUX's survey also showed that an overwhelming 88% of people said they'd prefer to take a vaccine that was developed within the DANZNCC+ region, with 10% saying they didn't mind either way. 1% said they'd prefer an overseas-developed vaccine and 1% were unsure. Additionally, only 37% of people supported restrictions for those who refuse to take the vaccine. This worries epidemiologists who assert that for a vaccine to have maximum efficacy, 95% of more of the population needs to be vaccinated.

New police stats show national crime rate down, murder rate hits all-time low
Christchurch, Drongonia
December 7, 2020 | Alistair Wilkes

Crime rates are down across the board, with the murder rate hitting a record low. Photo: // File

A report released by the Drongonian Police Intelligence Office details the nation's crime statistics for the "Police 2020 Year" observed between December 1st 2019 and December 1st 2020. Only 4.4% of all Drongonians have been the victims of crime this year, with the overall crime rate dropping to a record low 4 reported crimes per hour per million citizens, averaging 3,372 crimes per day across the entire nation.

Drongonia's Police have historically used neighbouring New Zealand's crime rate as their benchmark for a "very low crime nation", with New Zealand reporting 270,848 victimisations against people and property in the twelve months ending in October 2020. This equates to 6.18 crimes per hour per million residents, as the country has recently hit its 5 million resident milestone. Drongonia's rate is 4.00, which equates to 1,230,605 crimes reported throughout the 2020 Police Year nationwide.

Among the good news is the further dropping of the nation's homicide rate, reaching a record-low 0.41 homicides per 100,000 people. This comes in well below New Zealand's rate of 0.7 and Australia's rate of 0.89. Worldwide, Drongonia now ranks 212th out of 230 UN-recognised nations in its homicide rate, with Saint Helena, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Andorra, Vatican City, San Marino, Monaco, Nauru and Niue reporting a homicide rate of zero, and El Salvador reporting the world's highest homicide rate of 52.02.

Drongonian Police Commissioner, David Wagner, put the numbers down to the country's somewhat unique community policing structure, which puts police officers into the communities in which they grew up. Police began the community policing programme in 2017 and received a 99.1% positive feedback rate from officers surveyed in January 2020. Commissioner Wagner said that "members of the community might be discouraged from committing any crime due to the somewhat tight-knit nature of many of our towns and city suburbs. It's quite likely that an offender will know someone who knows someone who's a member of the Police, and more often than not the community is able to figure out who's committed a crime before the police even can. Additionally, members of the community seem far more likely to come forward and share information with members of the police who they have a positive attitude towards."

Commissioner Wagner went on to explain "...it goes both ways though, really. Members of the community expect a higher standard of policing and a more polite and courteous police force, simply because they know the people behind the uniform. Also, members of the police know that their actions, be they positive or negative, are going to feed through their community quite quickly, often on a personal level."

The overall crime rate dropped in all districts except for Northland, where the victimisation rate rose from 4.9% in 2019 to 5.05% in 2020, which is largely blamed on an increase in Crime within the Nelson police district.

Victimisation rate by region
5.05% Northland
4.90% 2019
4.53% Southland
4.59% 2019
4.41% Christchurch
4.50% 2019
4.07% Western Districts
4.14% 2019
2.99% Eastern Districts
3.03% 2019
2.26% Central Districts
2.57% 2019
1.05% English Island
1.07% 2019

The full contents of the report is due for public release tomorrow morning.

Social activists say "racist, hateful" Dunedin street ignored by council, police
Dunedin, Drongonia

Fitzherbert Street in the Dunedin suburb of St. Kilda has come under fire this week as social justice activists and anti-racism campaigners ramp up calls for action over several "racist" and "offensive" signs prominently displayed outside many of the street's homes.

The street stands in contrast to the increasingly diverse city surrounding it, with the area's electorate, South Dunedin, being the most diverse in the country. The electorate recorded just a 44.33% European ethnic makeup in the 2020 census, which stands as the lowest in the country, followed by Central Nelson with 49.09% and East Nelson with 55.3%. The South Dunedin electorate is made up of 44.33% Europeans, 27.67% Middle Easterners, 24.95% Asians, 2.12% South Americans, with 0.93% of the population belonging to another group.

According to the residents of Fitzherbert Street, they've had enough. One resident we spoke to, who declined to be named or appear on camera, stated that "...the area has turned into a dump. All of these g███s and ragh███s have ruined the place. My house is worth half what my brother's across town is and it's double the size. I don't want to live on a 'diverse street'." A younger resident who only gave his name as Chad said to reporters, he simply disliked minority ethnic groups and didn't want to live near them. "Not racist, just don't like them. This diversity crap is fake and gay anyway, you know who funds this stuff? Look into it." "Chad" later shouted expletives at reporters as they took photos of his "Whites only" sign. TVDG does not endorse or condone the views of the residents interviewed.

One former minority resident of the street told TVDG that he experienced no hatred from the residents, but he could tell that they wanted him to leave. He later explained that his neighbour would often ask him where the rest of his family resided during conversation, and suggested multiple times that he might be happier "among his own kind". Lead spokesperson of anti-racist watchdog HOPE Not Hate Drongonia, Lucy Goldstein, told TVDG that it was "disgusting and completely unimaginable in 2020." She later went on to say the following: "White people colonized this land from Maori and kicked them off, so they have no right to claim any part of it outside their property as theirs or exclude anyone else from living there."

Dunedin City Council released a statement saying that "None of the residents we were alerted to have infringed on the Dunedin Ratepayers' Agreement. Additionally, city council bylaws don't make provisions for this sort of behaviour. DCC detests all racism, bigotry and hatred, however there is no legal recourse we can pursue around this matter. Amendments to the Ratepayers' Agreement may be discussed in the future to prevent similar events occurring."

Drongonian Police simply told TVDG that "...no laws were being broken with the erection of the signs. Expressing one's opinion, no matter how vile or racist, is not illegal. If the signs are found to be an incitement of violence our stance may change." There is no current statute within Drongonian law that prevents racism or allows an individual or group to be prosecuted for racial discrimination or inflammatory remarks. HOPE Not Hate Drongonia's Lucy Goldstein says that needs to change; "at the moment, someone can walk down the street telling everyone he hates ethnic and religious minorities, or even stop them from entering his place of business - and not a thing can be done about it. Drongonia needs to catch up to other Western democracies like the United Kingdom and crack down on this kind of bigotry before we lose our country's values."

One resident who volunteered to be named, Samuel Hyde, said "I love living on Fitzherbert Street. It's the safest place in South Dunedin and it's a great community. I encourage all White Drongonians to move here and help us build this place into a perfect little community." Property data released by the Real Estate Institute of Drongonia (REIDG) showed that homes on the street sold up to five times faster than the Dunedin-area average, with the average home only lasting six days on the market.

Assembly Approves Conscription Bill On Fourth And Final Reading
Gerard Madrigal | 16 December 2020 3:40 PM PST

  • National Service Act Amendment 2020 now on Chancellor desk for signage into law
  • Bill to introduce mandatory 2-year military service for high school graduates at or above 18
  • Completion of mandatory service term required to avail suffrage, universal healthcare and education

Image
Lead SDP Representative Evelyn Sta. Ana expresses her dismay over the results of the reading.

ARAGON, D.C. | At 2:00PM today, the Assembly approved, in a joint Assembly reading, the National Service Act Amendment of 2020 in this week's Joint Assembly Session with 840 Yeas, 96 Nays, and 24 Abstentions, thus passing the relatively controversial bill into the hands of the Chancellor's desk for signage into law.

The National Service Act Amendment of 2020, known disparagingly as the Conscription Act 2020, requires that high school graduates at or above the age of 18 enter, upon graduation, Basic Selection and Training in their selection Armed Forces branch for one year, after which they will serve for two years as part of the active military forces. After their two-year service contract they will be given a choice of either leaving military service altogether or be relegated into the reserve force, both in order to pursue higher education or civilian careers.

Penalties for not completing one's two-year military service include one's rights to suffrage, universal education, and universal healthcare not being granted to them until they finish the remaining years of their two-year mandatory military service contract. Other, more egregious violations of the two-year service contract will warrant a court martial or even a criminal charge.

Among those who voted in support of the Amendment was SDP representative Jemimah Rokossovsky-Fariñas from the province of Nueva Vizcaya, Cagayan Federal Republic, citing Palmyrion's potential military manpower shortage in light of decreased interest to volunteer for the military as a result of the Turbulent Tens Conflict, the ongoing war in New Sandau, and the still-ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"Public interest in voluntary military enlistment has been low as a result of the Turbulent Tens Conflict, and we fear that, at the current rate of attrition, we cannot sustain the war in New Sandau; this, on top of the COVID-19 pandemic, would potentially cause a military manpower shortage that will hamper Palmyrion's military readiness for conflicts present and future." Rep. Rokossovsky-Fariñas (NV-8) said during the Joint House Session that decided the bill's fate in its fourth and final reading.

Objectors to the Amendment include Lead SDP Representative Evelyn Sta. Ana, condemning the Amendment as a "gross violation" of the right to liberty and self-fulfillment. "The Conscription Act is a gross violation of the right to liberty and the pursuit of self-fulfillment." Rep. Sta. Ana said. "Forcing citizens into military service under threat of denial of their rights is a violation of a person's right to personal volition and free consciousness as citizens of the Royal Palmyrian Commonwealth." she added.

The Chancellor has 15 days to sign the bill, after which it could lapse into law.

Senate passes new 2021 Budget; Gao promises support to Busin

Postby Avinaa » Thu Dec 17, 2020 12:05 pm

Daily Times: With approval from the Federal Senate the government has successfully passed PM Yang's 2021 budget that includes more unprecedented state spending to prop up the economy and is set to rack-up nearly $900 billion in new federal deficit spending. The Finance Ministry had already projected a "base deficit" of $250 billion to continue the government's Green Energy & Economic Investment Plan (GEEIP). In a press release Yang called the huge borrowing levels "unfortunate...but the options on the table...are to pay a lot now or pay a lot more later" noting that without support from the state many service industry and travel industry workers will quickly lose their jobs. The budget continues to fund the Paycheck Guarantee Program (PGP), extended & expanded unemployment benefits and food assistance programs, and monthly direct cash payments of $900 to everyone making less than $120,000/year.

The budget vote passed the Senate 62-58 after passing the House 240-210. The Finance Ministry intends on financing nearly $450 billion in debt through the Federal Reserve (central bank), a further $350 billion through the international debt market, and $100 billion through the World Bank.

National Post: Finance Minister Julia Gao hinted that the government's pandemic response aid was "open-ended" and that her ministry would prioritize supporting the economic recovery over deficit/debt concerns. Markets reacted strongly to the Minister's remarks, but Conservatives denounced her remarks as "irresponsible to our future generations."

Emergency Pandemic Bill of 2020 passed; Deal with Pfizer signed

Evelyn Stevenson | 19 December 2020 8:00 AM PST

  • EPB on desk of Prime Minister and Emperor for signing
  • Bill to introduce mandating face masks in all aspects of society; social distancing to be enforced
  • Government to secure 10,000,000 Pfizer jabs; additional 40,000,000 on pending list
  • Some NA members questions Bill enforcement

Image
Pfizer's vaccine has been on rollout in both the United States, Canada and other countries. The Government has reportedly "placed it's faith" on the vaccine

DISTRICT OF VARYAG | This morning, 8:00 AM Pacific Standard Time, the National Assembly of the Empire of New Goldman has officially voted the Emergency Pandemic Bill of 2020, officially Senate Bill 1021, into law. It was officially passed in a specially administered Assembly Session, with social distancing being enforced and face masks for Senators and Representatives being mandated. It was passed with 400 for Yes, 210 Nay, and 24 Abstaining. 1 Senator was absent from the meeting, thus their vote was not counted. The EPB, created to officially mandate rules for the Covid-19 Pandemic and the eventual vaccine to be utilized, has been confirmed and is now on the desks of both the Prime Minister and the Emperor for signage into law.

The Emergency Pandemic Bill of 2020, known officially Senate Bill 1021, requires that mandatory social distancing and the wearing of face masks in public to be enforced to the general population to prevent further spreading of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Cases has been stuck at 800 total, with 50 confirmed lives dead of the virus, with around 78 recovering without special treatment and a vaccine so far. The EPB mandates special lockdown procedures be mandated in hotspots across the country, with a national emergency warning system to be enforced in case of major changes in the Pandemic's continued effect.

Some of the 210 nay voters have expressed their doubts on the eventual execution of the bill, and doubts that the general populace could even follow the protocols set, as this was the first Pandemic that struck the country since the SARS pandemic. They also state that the stricter parts of the bill was "not going far enough to be even taken seriously by the general populace." Chief among these is Senator from Appalachia, Nancy Hollander, who said that the bill is "too soft" on punishments should someone break the rules of the bill.

"This bill is too soft on punishments for breaking the law. If you want the people to follow, you have to make sure the rules are strict and demanding." Senator Nancy said in an interview afterwards. "It is such a shame that it was passed despite me and the 209 other Senators and Reps' objections. But perhaps we could add amendments later should the need arise. But for now, as I said, it is such a shame. But it's democracy, and there has to be a winner and a loser in the match."

Apart from this, the Goldmanian Imperial Government, specifically the National Health Administration, has also signed a deal with Pfizer-BionTech to secure 10,000,000 advance shots and vaccines for the population, should the Pandemic worsen for the Empire, and to prepare for a total wave of cases expected at the thousands or even millions should it arrive. The Government is also on a pending follow up order of 40,000,000 vaccines, mostly to be distributed to local communities. The Pfizer vaccine has been on rollout in the United States and other countries. The Imperial Government has reportedly "placed it's faith" in the German American partnership, and hopes for the vaccine to be utilized in the long run.

Like any other law and agreement, the PM and Emperor has 2 weeks (14 days) to sign the law into effect. The first nationwide coordinated lockdown has been reported to begin this incoming midnight.

Murder is suddenly no longer the leading cause of death in Minokawan, people left speechless and unsure as to how this happened.

A recent survey on the leading causes of death revealed that death by murder has suddenly been wiped off of the pie chart. People have been left speechless as they never expected this to happen. While it is a welcoming fact, the suddenly low murder rate was an unexpected event. Many people have praised the government and police forces for their work on preventing murder, and other things like outlawing caged chickens.

Back then before the sudden loss of murder rates, it was formerly ~20% on the pie chart of leading causes of death. This was due to certain laws being passed that allowed people to get away with murder much easier. However, as time went on, the murder rate diminished all the way down to 0.2 percent.

Renewal of the USA-New Goldman Dual Alliance

Mark Hendricks | 19 December 2020 8:00 AM PST

  • Treaty awaiting confirmation from Imperial Palace
  • US opinion on New Goldman arising to 90% from previous 70%
  • Trump Administration wishes good luck for alliance under Biden Administration

Image
Most Anti Trumpists views that Trump did the renewal to cleanse his tarnished image after false claims of voter fraud in the 2020 Elections

DISTRICT OF VARYAG | Today at 9:00 AM this morning, the Ambassador of the United States to the Empire of New Goldman and the honorable Prime Minister Boris Johnson has signed the renewed USA-New Goldman Dual Alliance first signed in 1982 under the guise of the then Prime Minister Lance Victor, signed in conjunction with United States President Ronald Reagan during his rearmament against the Soviet Union as it got weaker. The Treaty has been pending renewal since 2016, and is considered an important step in restoring strong relations between the United States and New Goldman after the Trump Administration tarnished it.

The Treaty has been approved by the National Assembly with an overwhelming vote of 635 to 0, and has been approved by the National Assembly President, Kim Patterson. The Treaty was then confirmed minutes later by the United States Congress, and was also approved by their own leadership, although with reported reluctance from incumbent and defeated President Donald Trump. The Treaty has been extended from it's original military purpose to an economic one, promoting free trade and other economic promises for both signatory parties.

Public opinion of the Empire of New Goldman in the United States of America has been reported to have risen to a never before expected rate of 90%, passing the all time high of 87% in 1982, and compared to the 2016 opinion poll upon the inauguration of the Trump Administration. In turn, US opinion on New Goldman arisen to 91% from the previous 71%. Various reactions from US politicians and Goldmanian ones have been mixed, but mostly on the positive side. Vice President and former Governor of Indiana Mike Pence for example simply stated that "We hope to have good relations with the Goldmanians. They are a long time ally and they deserve America's utmost respect."

The Emperor himself, Harry Norton II, has been quoted saying "The United States of America is at a crossroads especially after this election. We must at least let them all know that New Goldman is here to stand with them no matter what happens. Their Covid-19 crisis looks to be at almost an end, as the Pfizer vaccine has been approved and is shipping out to all Americans nationwide. We are brothers, and we must stand strong together." It was met with warm reception from the public, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson placing his comment agreeing on the statement on Twitter earlier today.

With positive comments comes derogatory comments. There were no negative comments on the treaty itself. The most kind of people that placed their opinion are the Anti Trumpist organizations and people. They mostly state that the renewal is an attempt by the 45th US President to cleanse his tarnished image after filing false claims of voter fraud in the 2020 United States Presidential Elections, especially after the shocking victories by Joe Biden in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Georgia. Trump has not responded to these allegations yet, but Pence defended Trump, saying: "The President wanted and wished for this treaty to be renewed, and so do I."

"American public opinion of the Empire has surprisingly risen to 90%, an all time high for this day and age." National Assembly President Kim Patterson stated in an interview afterwards. "It is indeed a wish by many Americans and Goldmanians alike: to come back together as brothers as we once were, especially in this time and age full of challenges and the Covid-19 Pandemic. Even I was surprised when no one voted against the Treaty. It's like a Lord given miracle that was bestowed on our 2 peoples and governments."

Some prominent individuals spoke in favor of the Treaty, and called for their supporters to support it as they did. One of these is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Norton Enterprises and second nephew to the Emperor, Henry Norton. "This is an achievement that every American and Goldmanian must be proud of. This is a huge leap forward in the eventual restoration of American-Goldmanian relationship and comradeship." CEO Henry said. "Our brotherhood must stand eternal, firm and strong. Let's not break that bond." he added.

The Imperial Palace has 2 weeks (14 days) to officially sign the Treaty and give it's confirmation and recognition. The United States President (Donald Trump) meanwhile has given his recognition, though reluctant.

Reminder from Government: We're closed!
Christchurch, Drongonia
December 26, 2020 | Alistair Wilkes

Essential services such as police and ambulances will continue to operate normally. Photo: // File

Drongonia's Government has taken to social media to remind citizens that certain services provided by the Government will be unavailable or only operating at a reduced capacity until January 11, 2021. This comes after Ministry of Social Services staff reported on Thursday that they were being harassed by angry benefit claimants.

Essential parts of the Government such as emergency services and welfare payments will continue to operate uninterrupted, and the Ministry of Social Services will be paying out anyone who is awaiting a decision on their benefits. MSS spokesman Ken Bernard told TVDG "as a show of appreciation for people's patience over the holiday period, we will be paying out the full entitlements requested, as long as applicants filed their application before December 22nd, when the partial shutdown began."

Drongonians will now only have one certainty in life - death. This comes as the country's tax agency, Inland Revenue (IRD), shuts its doors for the holiday period. The agency released a statement saying they will not pursue any overdue taxes or other enforcement matters during this period, and that all requests for payment have been deferred to January 11 2021 at the earliest. It is estimated that there are currently over 500,000 people who owe the IRD a sum of more than $99.

Motorists also get to breathe a sigh of relief as car Warrant of Fitness certifications, as well as Vehicle Registrations, are deferred and any which run out during the partial shutdown period are still considered current until the grace period expires on the 20th of January, giving motorists nine days to get their vehicles up to standards after the shutdown ends.

Emergency services will continue to operate as normal despite the closure, with these services operating at their usual respective capacities. A list of Government entities and services that are classified as "emergency services" will be provided at the end of this article. Drongonian Police Commissioner David Wagner urged the public to remember that they can dial 111 at any time to reach emergency services, despite the shutdown.

The annual partial Government shutdown has been a Drongonian tradition since 2000, when the Drongonian Government Holiday Operations Act 2000 was passed, detailing the operating conditions of each Government department. Initially, the Act only allowed for a partial shutdown from December 23 to January 2, but this has been altered over the years, with the last change occurring in 2018, with the dates being extended from the December 22 to January 8 to the December 21 to January 11.

All public service employees are paid fully during this period, with any public service employees working in a department requiring them to work these days receiving double pay or 1.5x pay with days worked in lieu if they would prefer.

As Television Drongonia is a state-owned (independently managed) enterprise, we will be operating on a reduced capacity. As a result, TVDG's "Breakfast" is off-air, as well as the noon news broadcast. TVDG's "The Nightly" current affairs show is also off-air.

What is classified as an emergency service?
- Drongonian Police (all departments)
- National Health Service (hospital sector and National Ambulance Service)
- National Fire Service (emergency response only)
- Child, Youth and Family Services (emergency response only)
- National Crisis Hotline Services (all front-facing and referrals staff)

New Deputy PM Baker announces intention to re-instate 50s-era "White Drongonia" policies
Christchurch, Drongonia
December 26, 2020 | David Fischer

Leader of the controversial right-wing People's Front party and recently elected Deputy Prime Minister, Simon Baker, addressed a crowd of supporters at a rally in Port English yesterday, reminding attendees about the importance of Christmas, traditional values and spending time with family over the Christmas holiday period. His headline talking point was something a lot more controversial, however.

Towards the end of the rally, Baker let his supporters know that he had apparently secured the votes required in Parliament to pass the long-forestalled Immigration Restructuring Bill, which was originally drafted by former Conservative Party leader Eric Knight in 2015, but was never debated in Parliament. Former Prime Minister and Labour Leader Robert Jacobson had publicly stated his moral disagreement with the Bill, and had the Labour Party vote down its debate in Parliament throughout the two years it existed under his leadership. Current Prime Minister Bill English has stated in the past that he's open to debating the Bill in Parliament, but has never filed a motion to debate it, citing the need to "...discuss more pressing matters."

Deputy Prime Minister Baker cites an article from FUX News discussing the 2020 "FUX State of the Nation Yearly Survey", in which, 55% of participants expressed support for the 1950s-era "White Drongonia" policies. The policies, phased out under the Anna Nolan-led Labour Government of the 1990s, barred immigration from countries outside North America, Europe, Oceania and selected other countries. It also set a maximum refugee intake of 100 per year. The ethnicity requirements were officially removed from Immigration Drongonia's rules in 1996 and were replaced with questions regarding one's English literacy ability, and cultural compatibility. The maximum refugee intake was also removed in 1996, with a minimum refugee intake of 100 being bought into law in 1997.

Deputy Prime Minister Baker will have to convince 61 Members of Parliament to vote for debate of the Bill, which political analysts say is unlikely. Alternatively, under Parliamentary rules, the Prime Minister may order a Bill's discussion via a Prime Ministerial Order, although this has not taken place since 2004, when then-Prime Minister John Blackwell used a Prime Ministerial Order to kickstart the Parliamentary debate over a Bill which would have made prostitution punishable by up to 25 years in prison. The bill was ultimately defeated 71-49 upon its final reading in 2005.

Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland officially made into Regions, divided into provinces
MAINZ- The former German states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland have been formally incorporated into Trenaka in accordance with the Frankfurt Agreement. This follows a transition period where they were Provisional Regions. Both new Regions have also been divided into Provinces, of which there are 6. However, Saarland, due to its small size, has not been divided into provinces. Both new Regions have retained their capitals, and local elections for the new Regional Assemblies are being arranged.

Electoral Commission publishes report on electoral reshuffle - says more electorates needed
Christchurch, Drongonia
January 12, 2021 | Hannah Wilson

Photo: TVDG Archives
Image

A long-awaited report titled "Elections in Drongonia: Past, Present and Future" has been released by the Electoral Commission today, analysing every General Election held in Drongonia since 1999. The report also draws on the recommendations of Members of Parliament, electoral law scholars and public submissions on the topic of rewriting the long-standing electoral boundaries in Drongonia.

Drongonia's electoral boundaries have not been significantly modified since 1999, when the number of electorates was increased from 100 to 120 to compensate for population growth. The number of Drongonia's electorates is set to increase, according to the report, which has legal authority according to the Ministry of Government Operations. The report presents four options, which would all increase the number of electorates from the current 120 to anywhere between 150 - 200. There is also an option to add ten electorates onto the map every election cycle, which is seen as the most pragmatic move to keep up with constant population growth.

The current electoral math suggests that there are approximately 198,300 voters per electorate. The Electoral Commission also notes a large imbalance in the average amount of voters per electorate in certain cities. For example, Christchurch, Dunedin and Nelson all have at least 400,000 voters per electorate, whereas Carterton, English Island and Norcott Point all have approximately 100,000 or less. The report recommends a target of no more than 150,000 voters per electorate. With 150 electorates, there would be 159,067 voters per electorate. With 160, there would be 149,125, and with 200, there would be 119,300.

Concerns have been raised regarding the redistribution of electorates, with some comparing Drongonia's current system to that of the United States Electoral College, as the voter representation rate in cities is lower than that of those in rural areas, therefore unintentionally keeping a more balanced electoral system. Opponents to the change say that the increased emphasis on city-dwelling voters will leave rural voices sidelined. However, the Electoral Commission says that their recommendations are more oriented on bringing a fair and balanced electoral system to the country. Under the most popular choice, the 160 electorate plan, areas designated by the Local Government Act of 2002 as "city areas" (Carterton, Christchurch, Dunedin, English Island, Gilroy Bay, Greymouth, Halver, Invercargill, Lake Ellingham, Nelson and Norcott Point) would receive 111 of the electorates, leaving 49 for the rest of the country. These areas made up approximately 69.3% of all votes cast in 2020, and would make up 69.37% of the electorates under the 160 electorate plan.

Members of Parliament will vote on the changes in the coming weeks. It is expected that the vote will either go in favour of the 150 or 160 electorate plan, but the legally binding report states one must be chosen.

Three Murchison teens dead following 'Datura' overdoses, psychosis
Christchurch, Drongonia
January 17, 2021 | Hannah Wilson

Datura plant // Photo: Wikipedia
Image

The residents of the small town of Murchison, approximately 100km east of Westport, were woken up to the sound of police and ambulance sirens today as three teenagers were airlifted to Westport Hospital following the consumption of a little-known hallucinogenic plant, Datura.

The teenagers were rushed to Westport Hospital in reportedly "critical" condition at around 6am this morning. Two of the teens suffered respiratory paralysis shortly after arrival, and one teenager suffered what medical staff are calling "self-inflicted blunt force trauma", after allegedly attempting to assault multiple medical staff and police officers during a psychotic rage induced by the drug. Western Districts Police have ordered name suppression for the three young men, until the families of each see fit to remove it.

The teenagers, aged 16, 17 and 18, reportedly each consumed around 20 Datura seeds and smoked two leaves each, with the seeds being crushed into a lemonade-style drink before being consumed, according to friends contacted one of the boys soon after the initial consumption. It is as yet unknown where the teenagers acquired the Datura plants, as they are illegal to knowingly grow, sell or possess within Drongonia.

Datura is considered poisonous to humans, and is often consumed in South America and some parts of Europe as a cheaper and easier to obtain alternative to other psychedelics. Datura species can cause uncomfortable side effects, hallucinations, unusual behaviour, mood disorders, and overdose. Users of Datura can often report lifelong ailments associated with consumption of the drug, such as personality disorders, depression and anxiety, and partial loss of vision. Often, users accidentally overdose due to the unpredictable nature of the drug, with some individuals being much more sensitive to it than others.

Western Districts Police commander Barry Tillman released a statement today warning the public about the dangers of Datura and other psychedelic substances. "Datura, along with any other psychedelic substance, is dangerous and should absolutely not be taken. The deaths of these three otherwise fine young men have only highlighted this and serve as a reminder to the rest of us, these substances are illegal for a reason."

The deaths have been referred to the coroner, and police are conducting further inquiries.

Eight Weeks Out: NCP Takes Polling Lead

Postby Avinaa » Thu Feb 04, 2021 10:46 am

National Post: With eight weeks until 17 states across the country will go to the polls to elect state legislatures, governors, mayors, and city councils the National Conservative Party has taken a small lead over their center-left New Democratic rival. The governing NDP-Green coalition is defending 7 states where they hold power, including one NDP governor. In contrast the Conservatives are defending 8 state governments and the Social Democrats are defending 2 incumbent majority governments. Additionally the nation's four largest metropolitan and city governments are going to elections including the capital city of Rome. The Greens and SDP are each defending a mayorship and council majorities and the NDP are defending two. The most high profile race is in Rome where the governing Social Democrat mayor is none other than Mary Ward, the party's leading national figure and 2019 presidential candidate. She is in a completive three way race between the NDP and an independent candidate backed by the Liberals and Conservatives. Ward is largely expected to run for president in 2023 but would be derailed if she lost re-election.

The polls show that despite the public largely approving of the NDP's response to the pandemic both within their own states and nationally they are not seeing an increase in their support among the public. NDP's federal party is nervous that a slowed economic recovery could cost them dearly in 2023 since the Federal Reserve estimates that the economy won't recover until 2024 even with their massive fiscal stimulus bills. The elections will be held on March 23rd, 2021 with federal parliamentary and presidential elections nearly two years after.

Poll Averages Among the States-
National Conservatives: 34%
New Democrats: 31%
Social Democrats: 15%
Greens: 13%
Liberals: 4%
Republicans: 3%

Thousands protest in Christchurch, Nelson, Dunedin as "White Drongonia" laws qualified for Parliamentary debate
Nelson, Drongonia

Approximately 15,000 people took to the streets yesterday in opposition to so-called "White Drongonia" laws, which have now reached the beginning of the Parliamentary debate stage. The Bill currently before Parliament, the Race Relations Bill 2021, seeks to officially ban the immigration of non-Europeans into Drongonia, launch Government programs to discourage miscegenation, and criminalise "hate speech towards ethnic Drongonians". The Bill was introduced by controversial Deputy Prime Minister Simon Baker, of the far-right People's Front party.

According to preliminary data from the 2020 Census, Drongonia's population is approximately 91% European in ethnicity. Critics of the Government say this figure shows that Drongonia is "not accepting of people of other races and ethnicities". Human Rights Watch Drongonia spokesperson Vicki Wu said at the Nelson protest, "Drongonia is undoubtedly a racist, White supremacist nation. These protests may be our last chance to stop Drongonia slipping into fascism once and for all." Wu went on to say that Drongonia was not "playing its part as a global citizen".

TVDG understands that the Bill does not currently have Parliamentary support, meaning it will likely fail on its first or second reading. Labour leader Sarah Ellice addressed the Christchurch protest yesterday, saying that [i]"...my Labour Party is one of tolerance, acceptance and inclusion. None of our members support these vile changes to the law, and we will not be voting for the debate on the Bill to continue past its first reading."
Green Party leader Dianne Fitzgerald and Libertarian Party leader Sean Davidson have both announced their intention to vote against the Bill's further debate on social media.

Prime Minister Bill English was interviewed on last night's "Drongonia Tonight" current affairs programme, where he said he didn't expect the laws to pass, but said that "...it's important [that] opinions like these are debated in Parliament. Without robust debate, we as politicians wouldn't have a clue how the public felt about these proposals, meaning we couldn't represent them effectively. Considering what we've seen today, it's clear to see that at least one section of the public have made their feelings very clear."

National have not released a statement regarding a party-wide stance on the Bill, saying only that "our members are free to vote with their conscience".

The Free Lands of the Hjallvinter declares independence

Postby Hjallvinter » Mon Feb 22, 2021 11:28 am

Adelaide Lorraine reporting with HNN news at 11. Tonight, Independence has been declared!

A new nation has emerged in the international theater today as First Minister Hermann Nielsson signed the newly ratified Articles of Agreement into law. Amidst the fanfare and pageantry, the First Minister took to the podium to address the celebrating crowds flooding into the streets across the country.

"Citizens of the Free Lands of Hjallvinter, I come to you today with wonderful news. By the sweat of our brows and the blood of our forefathers, we have forged for ourselves a new nation, dedicated to one singular purpose, and that purpose is the preservation, protection, and proliferation of Westernkind. Too long have we watched our European descended brothers and sisters suffer under the yoke of rabid and encroaching Antiwhitism. Too long have our brothers and sisters been victimized by endless replacement migration programs, becoming foreigners in the lands of their birth that they themselves built, their taxes repurposed from their own wellbeing to instead subsidize the existence of foreigners, all the while their numbers endlessly dwindling. Too long have their populations succumbed to the biological erasure of an entire people under the guise of "diversity, equity, and inclusion". 20 years ago, I would have laughed at such a statement, but today, the nightmare is all too real, playing out in real time across the west."

"These duplicitous victimizers make shallow pretense at moral high ground, citing historical revisionism and guilt ridden propaganda to craft a narrative under which we are meant to suffer, forever portrayed as villains for demonstrating concern for the wellbeing of our own kin. Their demands for supplications at our expense are ceaseless, but to them, we say, enough! Atonement cannot be made for a grievance never committed! No man alive today is responsible for actions that exist only in the pages of history. We will no longer allow our sense of fair play and good will towards all men, regardless of their immutable characteristics, to be abused by their jealousy and spite. We will not become servants in service to their plunder of our civilizations."

"While today we celebrate, the road ahead will be difficult. The struggles we face shall be endless, and I tell you assuredly that for simply daring to exist as a free people concerned with the wellbeing of European descended men and women everywhere, we are a nation under siege, and a target is painted upon our backs. They will decry us with every Antiwhite slur in the book that they can muster, and attempt to tie us to some horrifying spectre from history that they can use to justify harm against us. There will be sanctions, embargoes, and injunctions levied against us, if not far worse, but none of this matters. The only thing that matters is the survival of our people, our cultures, and our way of life, and to such a noble goal, I am honored to stand in service."

"This invitation is extended then to every man, woman, and child of Westernkind, living under the yoke of openly hostile Antiwhite regimes everywhere, to the Spaniard and the Slavic, the Greek and the Norse - you are welcome within our lands. Come with us, and build a nation worthy of the dignity of European descended peoples everywhere. Together, we recapture our destiny."

"To those of different heritage, we say this - you too are welcome, so long as you respect our customs, our ways of life, and our right to simply and peaceably exist into posterity.

After yesterday's protests where approximately 15,000 people people took to the streets, action in the capital ramped up today amid the proposed "White Drongonia" law reforms being introduced to Parliament for debate. Christchurch Police estimated that at least 55,000 people rallied through the capital today, disrupting traffic and ultimately arriving outside Parliament just before 2pm.

The protest in Christchurch was matched in size by protests in Nelson and Dunedin, each city seeing approximately 50,000 people protesting through the main streets. There was also a smaller protest in Invercargill's Davidson Square, where police say approximately 5,000 people gathered, chanting against racism and vowing to stop Parliament debating the Bill, which they say would discriminate against minority groups and those from non-European countries.

The Race Relations Bill 2021 has not yet begun its first reading in Parliament, with this due tomorrow. The Bill is scheduled to be debated from tomorrow until Friday, with Members of Parliament drafting amendments over the weekend and into next week. After this, the amendments will be voted on, and a vote will occur to determine whether the amended Bill will continue through to a second reading.

TVDG understands that the Bill does not currently have Parliamentary support, meaning it will likely fail on its first or second reading. Labour leader Sarah Ellice addressed the Christchurch protest yesterday, saying that "...my Labour Party is one of tolerance, acceptance and inclusion. None of our members support these vile changes to the law, and we will not be voting for the debate on the Bill to continue past its first reading." Green Party leader Dianne Fitzgerald and Libertarian Party leader Sean Davidson have both announced their intention to vote against the Bill's further debate on social media.

Police said they made 264 arrests in total, with 103 being in Dunedin, 88 being in Nelson, 66 being in Christchurch, and 7 being in Invercargill.

Following smaller protests throughout the week, an estimated 500,000 demonstrators took part in nationwide protests in opposition to the Parliamentary debate over "White Drongonia" legislation, introduced by controversial Deputy Prime Minister Simon Baker. Demonstrators called for Deputy Prime Minister Baker to resign, and for the laws to be officially rebuked by Parliament - a process in which a majority of MPs vote to halt discussion of a Bill immediately.

Protests in Christchurch, Dunedin, Nelson and Invercargill turned into sit-ins as Saturday drew to a close, and Police were dispatched en masse to attempt dispersal of the protestors in various cities. In Christchurch, protestors sat in the middle of the Queen Street Intersection, blocking traffic and causing disruption. 50 of the protesters were peacefully dispersed and a further 38 were arrested, according to Christchurch Police. Things weren't so peaceful in Nelson, however, as Police say protesters assaulted officers and formed roadblocks using cars and roadworking equipment, leading to over 300 arrests alone on Trenton Street, near the district court.

On Sunday, protesters returned and were once again met by police, this time heavily armed and in full riot attire. Prime Minister Bill English talked at length on nationwide radio station Newstalk ZX today regarding the protesters, saying he was "disappointed and alarmed at the scale with which they [the protests] occurred...", and how they "...stretched Police resources to their absolute limit" in dealing with the mammoth number of arrests and charges being filed.

Police say that while the majority of those arrested have already been processed and released for minor charges such as breaching the peace and traffic infringements, a minority of protesters will be staying with Police into the coming week, with charges ranging from attempted arson, violent breach of the peace, assaulting police officers, male assaults female, common assault, destruction of public property and vandalism.

TVDG understands that the Bill does not currently have Parliamentary support, meaning it will likely fail on its first or second reading. Labour leader Sarah Ellice addressed a Christchurch protest last week, saying that "...my Labour Party is one of tolerance, acceptance and inclusion. None of our members support these vile changes to the law, and we will not be voting for the debate on the Bill to continue past its first reading." Bloodbath narrowly averted in Urmia thanks to Armenian militia, city Gendermerie.
Urmia, Persia; 24 February 2021; Stephan Mahkent
Fire raging in the Old City, barricades drawn and armed militia entrenched along old ethnic lines in the city that was meant to be a melting pot of Kurds, Azeris and Armenians. In the morning of the 18st of February, the year 2021, Urmia fell to violent riots. The city, located deep inside the claimed homelands of the Armenian, Kurdish and Azeri peoples as well as the heartland of the Persian Nation, has been the site to multiple incidents all related to the greater Azeri Insurrection that has been ongoing since the second Great War returned Southern Caucasian lands to Persia after 135 years of occupation but none has been as severe as the riots this week.

The riots began after a tense standoff between Armenian and Azeri militias belonging respectively to the Armenian Popular Army and the People's Front of Azerbaijan, which itself began after a heated discussion over overpricing in the Urmia Bazaar, located in the Armenian-populated Old City district. Riots began after Hurremdin Emin, an Azeri, was killed by armed Armenian militia on 9:30 of the same day, beginning a bloodbath. More than 10 were killed in the initial fire exchange, but while some hoped the conflict could be put down peacefully, it was only to get worse. Azeri citizens, agitated by what they saw as an act of aggression against one of their own, took to the streets and besieged the Armenian Quarter for 4 days, trying to break through the hastily-erected barricades and punish their enemy. Thrice they struck, and thrice they were pushed back, the Azeri suffered near 100 fatalities to gunfire during the ongoing siege and the Armenians lost nearly as many until the poorly-timed entry of the Persian Gendermerie finally ensured the dispersion of both sides and arresting of more than 387 from the two sides.

While the Persian government as well as the city authorities in Urmia claim that the Gendermerie's 'timely arrival' ensured the conflict could not turn into yet another bloodbath held by the Azeri against their usual victims, many among the Armenian Iranians and beyond are less optimistic. Only time will tell if this is the beginning of a new period of conflict over this much-contested region or an isolated incident brought to life by events largely out of anyone's control.

Concerns Mount as Emperor Spends 27th Night in Hospital

ADAB CITY - Crown Prince Alulim and Prince Sargon, the first- and second-in-line to the Imperial Throne, today visited the Emperor at the Umar ibn Al-Khattab Hospital in Adab City amid rising concerns about his health.

The Crown Prince and his eldest son arrived at the hospital under heavy guard at approximately 4:50 p.m. today and were immediately ushered in through a back entrance, as members of the press photographed them from a distance. All entrances to the hospital have been heavily guarded by police since the Emperor was moved here.

The Crown Prince resides in the Imperial Palace alongside his father. Prince Sargon has recently spent much of his time at his Cairo villa but made an unannounced return to Adab City last week amid increasing rumors regarding his grandfather's health.

The Crown Prince, 94, and Prince Sargon, 75, spent about fifty minutes in the hospital with their father and grandfather. They left at 5:45 p.m.

The Emperor, 112, was admitted to the hospital on February 6 after reportedly feeling "weak" for some days. An Imperial Palace source told The Adab Times that the Emperor had been receiving treatment in the Palace for at least a week beforehand, and that the decision to move him to the hospital was made in order to ensure that he received the best care possible considering his age.

Tonight will be the Emperor's 27th night in hospital. The cause of his hospitalization has not been officially disclosed, however the Palace has insisted throughout the course of the Emperor's treatment that he is in good health. His hospitalization is not related to COVID-19 and he has tested negative for the disease, the Palace said in an announcement on February 28.

On March 3, the hospital announced that the Emperor is responding to treatment and will be staying for "at least another week" to allow for continued observation.

Nevertheless, the Emperor's stay has been much longer than expected. This has been his longest hospital stay, and every day since he was admitted members of the press, as well as the general public, have crowded the entrances to the hospital, seeking the latest information regarding the Emperor's health.

The Emperor has generally been in good health throughout his life. He had surgery in 1999 to remove a benign growth from his neck, and in 2005 underwent total hip replacement at the age of 97. In 2011, aged 103, he spent a week in hospital after angioplasty to clear a blocked coronary artery.

The Emperor has held the throne since 1927.

Yesterday, the Adab City Council issued a statement urging people to cease gathering within and around hospital grounds and leaving bouquets of flowers on roads and sidewalks leading to the hospital. "While the concern for His Imperial Majesty's well-being is very much appreciated, we believe that it is also important to ensure that the hospital and ambulances going in and out of the hospital continue to operate smoothly and the comfort of all patients is upheld," the statement said.

Privy Council Pays Tribute

The Privy Council in its meeting today paid tribute to the Emperor for his "more than ninety years of service" and prayed that he will return to the Imperial Palace soon.

"His Imperial Majesty's record of service has no parallels in the history of this country. It is only right for us, in this time of worry, to seek solace in the achievements of his long reign and the affection which the whole country holds for him," the Lord President of the Council, the Duke of Baghdad, said at the start of the meeting.

The Council then held a one-minute silent prayer for the Emperor before formally proceeding to the agenda of the meeting.
