Judge orders restoration of DACA

A federal judge on Friday ordered the Trump administration to fully restore an Obama-era initiative that protects undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children from deportation, requiring officials to open the program to new applicants for the first time since 2017.

Judge Nicholas Garaufis of the U.S. District Court in Brooklyn instructed the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to post a public notice by Monday that states the department will accept and adjudicate Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) petitions from immigrants who qualify for the program but are not currently enrolled in it.

Garaufis also instructed officials to grant approved applicants work permits that last for two years, instead of the one-year period proposed by the Trump administration over the summer.

What do you think, NSG? Is this a good idea? Or not? I personally see it as positive. Thoughts?

If there is another sympathetic president in office again, the GOP should vow to undo DACA in full, no matter what it takes and prevent an equivalent program from taking root going forward. My vision for what the nation should consider as apart of itself, is narrower instead of broad.

Why are we screwing around with "work permits" and other nonsense? Give them a choice: either become citizens or be deported. I don't think the children of illegal aliens should be punished simply because their parents broke the law and I would suspect given their time here in the United States they are significantly assimilated. I'd point out DACA is an executive order and not legislative policy, so we need to figure out a more permanent solution.

Most of them aren't White in the European sense, which is what'd matter to me. Putting that bias aside however, in allowing for something like DACA, the US is sending the entire world the message that anyone who gives birth in the US' borders or brings their children/family over, that they can become "anchored" to the country when this shouldn't be allowed and never would've been tolerated in the old days.

That just proves what I was saying, illegals pay sales taxes but don't pay income taxes in any proportionate amount. And what about FICA? That is strangely omitted.

I'd also like to know how they paid property taxes and state income taxes without SSNs...could it be their employer was using fake SSNs to report payments to the state? I can't file my state income tax return or purchase a property without my SSN so I am wondering how they were able to pull this off.

And let's not beat around the bush, at 10.5 million illegals with $11.2 billion taxes paid in 2017 that means they paid a whopping $1,100 per capita in taxes for the entire year. Someone making $14k a year will pay that much in FICA alone. Gee, I wonder why they stay illegal?

Not the topic of this thread, but once you find some growth in Islam that is not based on rapidly declining birth rates or outright coercion compared to the millions of Sub-Saharan Africans freely converting to and reinforcing their faith in Jesus Christ as Son of God get back to me. Hopefully many millions more Africans will continue to "apostatize" from Islam and return to Christianity and our churches will protect them from your bloodthirsty retribution, i.e. death for failing to follow your "prophet".
