What are you thankful for?

Postby Geneviev » Tue Nov 24, 2020 8:56 pm

Anyone should agree that 2020 has been a weird year, and difficult for a lot of people. A lot of the news this year was genuinely terrible, and it had a real impact on people's lives. But, hopefully, this year wasn't all bad. Given that Thanksgiving will be taking place this week in America, I think it would be a good time to reflect on the things that didn't go wrong this year. Things that you are thankful for.

So, NSG, what are you thankful for this year, or what was the best part of the year for you?

This year, I'm definitely thankful for my family. Even though it's been a difficult year in a lot of ways, they're still incredible people. I'm thankful for my friends. I'm also thankful that I'm still in school, and still reading books. And, of course, I'm thankful for tea. So, what are you thankful for?

I'm thankful that no one in my family has come down with Covid-19, or anyone I know outside the family. I'm thankful that their health is all good, too, outside the dangers of You-Know-What. I'm thankful for Herself and for the Two Cats, for warm socks, being able to sleep in nowadays ... there are lots of things, including you lot (most of you).

I’m thankful that no one in my family or close circle of friends has been sick or died of CoVID19. Or their own families. I’m thankful that the year is almost over. I’m thankful that perhaps we’ll have a vaccine rolling out in a matter of weeks. I’m thankful about not having lost our jobs or home. I’m thankful for our upcoming move to a better place and, finally, I’m thankful to be alive.

I'm thankful for lots of things that have already mentioned, so just to add, I'm thankful my friends still care to check up on me, and that I found a fun thing to do on my free time.

Thankful that my mother got a job right as lockdown was coming into effect (in March), and that she got hired permanently for that position a few months after (in July). Given 2019 was a rough year financially, I can safely say that my family has been doing much better now than this time last year, given we don't have to worry about where our next meal will come from. :)

Well I'm certainly thankful I don't live in a state where my Governor is overreaching his power and saying we can't celebrate f---ing Thanksgiving with my family.

I'm also really thankful for my mom. I love and appreciate her more than I let on, and I'm working on that

I'm thankful for my family, thankful for my anxiety being better these last few years, and thankful to live in a country which respects human life enough to actually listen to Covid regulations (for the most part).

I'm primarily thankful that my closest friends (and my dogs) are healthy and for them helping me through this pandemic even though we can't see each other much. I'm glad that I'm no longer so depressed and that I discovered I was good looking before I had the opportunity to ruin my body with a horrible diet. I'm thankful for taking opportunities to travel before the shutdown, and I'm thankful for sushi and punk rock. Oh, and I'm excited that my friend/crush wants to go on vacation with me once the pandemic's over.

I have to add to this. I'm thankful that I will be able to spend Thanksgiving safely thanks to technology like Zoom. It's really good to see people, even over a screen.

I am thankful for Gov. Kirsti Noem (South Dakota governor) having the guts to allow people and businesses to make their own decisions regarding mask use and social distancing during the Covid 19 Pandemic which has turned many governors into mini-dictators. In the face of hard pressure to act like a dictator from many politicians, media outlets, and NS members, she has insisted that her citizens should be treated as adults and given the facts and then have the right to make their own decisions.

It is sad that few government officials are willing to stand up for the rights of their citizens (retired congressman Ron Paul is another official I am thankful for having courage and doing his best to steer Americans towards the right direction) but it is nice to see some good people still exist. I hope she can keep up her courage and not give in. If you are reading this Governor Noem, you have many people supporting you!!!

I'm thankful I live in a country that takes the threat of the coronavirus far more seriously than some other countries. I'm thankful that no one I know has been infected.

I'm thankful that vaccinations are literally right around the corner and the pandemic will soon be over as early as next spring.

I'm thankful my financial and employment situation is relatively stable and secure.

I'm thankful to my parents for giving me a fighting chance and a good quality of life most people could only dream of. I thank them to the ends of the Earth and back again.

I'm thankful to my grandparents for giving my parents a fighting chance and a decent quality of life most people could only dream of. I thank them to the ends of the Earth and back again. Without their hard work and perseverance, I wouldn't even be typing this.

I am thankful the government, for all its flaws and imperfections, isn't constantly breathing down my neck. I'm thankful I don't live in a country where any and all political dissent can be punished as "subversion, secession, terrorism, and colluding with foreign forces" and people can be arbitrarily disappeared without a trace based solely on the word of that difficult neighbor you never got along with.

I'm thankful that I get to enjoy some of the freedoms that Americans and Europeans enjoy, unlike some unpatriotic ingrates who take their freedoms for granted, demand free handouts, preferential treatment, affirmative action, and queue-jumping for certain groups of "oppressed" people over hard work and egalitarianism, and constantly whine and riot over trivial "injustices" in a wealthy, liberal, democratic society that has graciously hosted them their entire lives when people in most other countries suffer far worse outcomes politically and economically.
LIBERATE HONG KONG. REVOLUTION OF OUR TIMES. CCP DELENDA EST.

Wuhan coronavirus is racist but Japanese encephalitis is A-OK. The CCP has nothing to do with this double standard whatsoever. Nothing to see here.

I'm thankful that married the most amazing, wonderful person I have ever known and that she loves me and that we have been together for almost 5 years now, after sticking it out in a long distance relationship for 4 years.

Lately, the love I have in my life. I have friends, I have family, and I have God. I'm very fortunate to have all of these persons. I'm also greatful for my capacity to forgive as well. I harbor no malice in my heart towards anyone and I'm lucky not to be faced with any particularly trying circumstances as of late. The obstacles ahead are surmountable.
