The only issue I can see is a potential impact on the Japanese fishing industry. Not because the release itself is harmful, but because certain people will be less inclined to buy or consume Japanese fish or seafood products.

I was thinking that. If the anti-fission people want to keep the stuff from being released into the environment, maybe they'd like to buy some and take care of it themselves?

• Convenient sizes of containers (1l 2l 4l) filled with radioactive water.
• Frozen to reduce the risk of spillage in air-freight.
• Must be (refrigerated) air-freight, due to high risk of rail or ship.
• Kept frozen at the airport, and during delivery by courier.
• Customer is advised to keep bottled radioactive water frozen.
• Customer is advised to return water for re-bottling every five years.

Then send them a bill for the carbon emissions.

What kind of strange take is this? Anyone who's anti-fission wouldn't want this to occur in the first place. It'd be like asking people opposed to a local chemical plant to take care of the resulting pollution in the river themselves... it makes no sense.

Eventually this is as far as I know, the safest and most controlled way of getting rid of all the waste of the Fukushima plant. Also remember that this water is/will be treated before it is released and the levels of radioactivity are very closely monitored to be within safe parameters (Which some media tend to leave out or plain ignore for their convenience).

Yes it still isn't the best solution, but sadly I think it is the only solution to keep the ground from contaminating further and more problems arising.
