A group of 7 people walked out of the arrivals gate in Terminal 2. Immediately after they walked out, they briskly made their way to the vehicle pick-up area, where a black SUV with tinted windows await. Before they boarded, a man in suit asked, "Who are you?"
"The darkness in the background of the morgue."

"In the car, please."

After they got in, the cars swiftly drove out of the airport grounds, as the visitors are asked to turn all electronics off.

"Thanks for coming. I know that it is incredibly risky for you to leave your country. Fortunately, as you may know, your exiled friends have set it up such that you are, in Kancia's eyes, just coming here for a holiday. We're going to take you to a hotel for you to rest and get freshened up, and I hope to see you all at the meeting tomorrow."

As the car pulled up in front of a hotel, the visitors got off and entered their rooms, preparing themselves for the meeting tomorrow.

Pyotville Apartment Complex, Kancia City, Kancia

24:00 KST

Several shadows snuck towards the gates of an abandoned tenement, carefully treading without a sound. The figures eyed around, making sure they weren’t being watched. Finally, one figure whispered,

“No Government Surveillance cameras, we’re good.”

The figures slipped into the building one by one with utmost caution. One mistake, and the whole operation would cease. They creeped past the long corridors, until finally grinding to a halt at an old dining area deep inside the premise. Finally, they can rest for the night, but rest was not their goal. Not in these times.

“Now that we have an undisclosed meeting area, let’s make sure we know what to do. Our friends ‘on vacation’ are going to have a meeting tomorrow, but we must make sure we are ready for whatever plan they come up with.” The leader of the group, a young but optimistic man, announced. He pulled out a cellphone, one not connected to the heavily censored internet of Kancia.

“So you’re saying we can call them now? Even when the government is suppressing foreign phone calls?” A member questioned.

“Yes, but not at this moment. I have gotten in touch with them before but right now they have much more important duties to worry about.” The leader responded.

“So what should the Democratic Opposition do when that senile freak in charge is shooting us up like rodents?” Another particularly concerned individual anxiously inquired.

“That’s up to the meeting in Nacrad to decide.”

0800, the next morning.

The SDP members woke up, and went to the lobby for breakfast. There, they met one of the people that they would eventually meet. At least, they knew that once he hailed one of them over.

"How are you, Guilermo?"
"Not much, just met an angel in my nightmare."
"Huh, how quaint. I'm Mark Hopper, your... tour guide, I'm pretty sure we've never met. We're departing at 9 am."

The group once again boarded a van, which drove to a remote village at the border between Hadrax and Riverfort. They walked into a non-descriptive village house, and the doors closed promptly. Inside, several military commanders and men in suits sit.

"Take a seat, please. As you know, we're discussing on the upcoming... hang on, I forgot to ask you to turn off all your phones and computers. We don't know what Kancia has done to spoof this."

Everyone in the room instinctively checked their phones and laptops. They are all off.

"Where was I? Ah yes, we're here to discuss on a plan to overthrow Numik and all he stands for, that's what you, as in the SDP, wanted, no?"

[Kancia]

Remote Village, Nacrad

09:00

The SDP members nodded in agreement.

“We stand for democracy, equality and justice. Numik stands for dictatorship, oppression and injustice.” One of the members stated out loud.

Another SDP figure, one who was lucky enough to be exiled instead of imprisoned upon capture at the hands of the Kancia police, came forward with concerned expression.

“We need to know who we’re dealing with here. The Kancian Government is extremely dangerous, with an entrenched bureaucracy encompassing an eighth of all Kancians. Not only that, but we need to keep caution of the armed forces and secret police. If one of us gets captured by the KFSA, hell would be an understatement to describe what torture they will impose.”

“Don’t be pessimistic, we have the people on our side! The future is in the hands of the youth, and they aren’t fond of the Nationalist Party’s totalitarianism.” Exclaimed a more enthusiastic member of the group.

“Still, we have to consider the factors.”

Pyotville Apartment Complex, Kancia City, Kancia

05:00 KST

“Wake up! Now! It’s an emergency!” Cried the leader of the secret SDP meeting stationed at the abandoned complex.

“Law enforcement vehicles detected approaching our viscinity!” He screamed again. “Take cover!”

Everyone scrambled across the meeting area, searching for a place to hide. People jumped under tables, hid behind chairs, locked themselves in cabinets, anything to avoid capture. A climate of panic ensued, with the leader desperately trying to calm everyone down. But the fear was too real. Did the Government already find them?

“Wha, what’s going on?” A frightened member frantically wailed.

“Quiet! They’ll hear you!”

Sirens could be heard screaming from outside. If the police were to discover them, not only would their hideout be revealed but the Nacradian meeting could possible be disclosed. The sirens continued, but no sound of police could be heard. The sirens faded away. Perhaps the police were just patrolling the streets like usual. But no one could really be sure.

[Nacrad]

A man in suit scribbled down the SDP members' remarks. After a few moments of thinking, he finally opened his mouth.

"OK. You said that you had the people on your side? I know that Kancia has conscription. Have they received military training? In addition, how many of them have guns? I know that you would much rather keep your protests peaceful, but you need to become more assertive, ehm, aggressive. That's what's happening in Shanghai too, by the way."

"Also, if it isn't already obvious, we won't be able to officially send military aid until either a rebel movement pops up, or the President declaring outright war against Kancia. The latter won't happen, by the way, since our military is nowhere as strong as Kancia's, I must admit."

[Kancia]

Another SDP member took a step forward from the group.

“Well, and estimated 20 million Kancias may have participated in the recent protests, though most don’t have military training. But while the Kancian Military is a juggernaut to be faced, there is a sliver of hope.”

The exiled SDP member expressed doubt on his face. He knew the dangers posed by the Kancian Regime, as he nearly became victim to them. But before he could respond, the member up front continued.

“A lot of Kancians have guns, since the Nationalists had to arm the populace during their takeover of the mainland in the 1956 civil war. Maybe a few million of the protesters might have arms, though Weapons Shops have been encouraged to refuse to serve non-Nationalist supporters, so we don’t know how many people can revolt. However, there should be a sizable amount with guns. There are already armed protests occurring in areas under martial law, so maybe we can unite them for this cause.” The member up front concluded.

“Don’t forget the numerous militant groups the government has currently fought against. You know, the Kancian Communist United Front, the Indigenous Liberation Army, the Red Kancian Eagles and the Kancian Internationale. They have thousands upon thousands of well trained members each, with massive military experience and effective guerilla tactics. Maybe they can help?” Another more enthusiastic member suggested.

However, part of the group simply shook their heads in disapproval.

“I don’t know about them. The groups you mentioned are certainly on the more extreme side. You’re talking about Anarchist, Marxist, Leninist, and Maoist groups. They share a mutual hatred of the government, but they also don’t have good relations with us Social Democrats.” The exiled SDP member responded.

“Hear me out. Those groups may be ideologically opposed to us, even calling us ‘succdems’ but we need as much on our side as possible. The few million people who support our cause and possess arms need the most allies as possible. We can settle our scores with the militants later. However, we should let the officials from Nacrad also have a say.” The enthusiastic member proclaimed.

[Nacrad]

"Fuck..." Said an official, under his breath. He then spoke up, "There is, you see, an ideological problem with aligning with the communists. We just came out of a war with the communists north of our border. I'm afraid that relying solely on a communist rebel group, or indeed, any communist group, will be unacceptable among Nacradians. So, if you are going to collaborate with the commies, make sure to keep them far, far, far away from politics. It's like how the Kuomintang and CCP put down their quarrels to fight Japan, at least that's the most similar example I can think of at the spot."

Suddenly, a Major spoke up, "I... respectfully disagree. While yes we need to unite the left wing in Kancia to counter the exceedingly powerful right -- and we don't know if we can do that, anyways -- we must not allow the communists any chance at usurping power after the deed is done. Let's take the CCP and Kuomintang example again. After the Japanese had been nuked, CCP literally stole everything from Kuomintang. Do you want that to happen in Kancia? Granted, the CCP had aid from the Soviet Union. If we don't want the communists to take power, which I trust all of you don't as it's just substituting a left wing dictatorship in the place of a right wing one, we must alienate the Chinese and the Russians from this whole deal, on top of keeping them from all political facets."

Everyone else seemed to nod in agreement, as communism hardly appeals to them. Despite being on the left, Nacrad seems to hate communists, and that has a historical reason.

[Kancia]

Most of the SDP members agreed.

A communist ally would be too ideologically extreme to support. The Social Democratic Party of Kancia has been opposed to all forms of extremism, be it left or right. Marxism-Leninism or Fascism. Finally, the exiled SDP member made a statement.

“The Nationalist Party is abhorrent. But we risk the same thing happening in China to happen to us, as those radical militants are not the friendliest bunch. Maybe we can ally with the more moderate leftists, like the socialists in the Green Party. I’ve heard armed eco-socialists managed to sabatoge an oil plant used by the military, which was able to delay a government crackdown long enough to bring protesters to safety. Certainly we don’t have to ally with the Kancian Red Eagles, you know the group which is associated with numerous terror attacks that have killed hundreds of poor souls. Sure, it is no where near as bad as the atrocities of the Numikist Regime, but violence is violence.”

“What you are saying is certainly correct, but do you want to face defeat at the hands of the Nationalists? The KFSA puts insurgents through rat torture for crying out loud. I think we should listen to the first official and ally with the communists only for the moment, distancing from them as much as possible.” The newest member of the group replied.

“And get screwed over by the communists? It’s too risky to do so. Allying with such groups will just make us seem extreme, and possibly damage our reputation for a lot of people. Certainly we can sacrifice the support of a few thousand highly trained guerillas to retain support from hundreds of thousands or millions of Kancians.” The exiled member countered.

After some bickering, the SDP group came to a majority agreement that support from the communist guerillas was too risky. There were other alternatives, and the risk wasn’t worth it for most of the group. Now that that debate came to a conclusion, it was time to discuss how to organize such uprisings.

"WIse choice to alienate yourselves from the militants.

Seen as most of you don't have military training, I'm thinking if we can do precisely that. We can open those summer outdoor experience camp thingies... what are they called in English again? Ah yes, 'adventure activities'. Kancia being a corporatocracy has its weaknesses we can exploit. I know a few friends who have been coaches in these activities. Maybe we can bribe Kancia to give us a license to open those camps, then open one such camp using "adventure activities" as an alibi? That's what we've done before in some other places. In case you don't know what those are, I can get the drivers to take you to one of them to really let you know.

As a fallback plan, and also frankly I'm just curious, do you happen to know any gangs that may be willing to assist us? We'd like to smuggle our NID agents there."

[Kancia]

A figure in a professional suit came forward. He was a high ranking member of the SDP and had a lot of experience in the corporate world of Kancia. He was a former high ranking official in a powerful megacorporation and had an understanding on how Numik’s form of capitalism worked.

“It is very difficult to start a business on your own without the main corporations getting involved. Monopolies are completely legal and the biggest corporations have almost zero restrictions, as long as they remain loyal to the Nationalist Party. We can try to set up such a camp, but it will be difficult to do it on our own without the big businesses taking over.”

He pulled out a brochure containing a list of Kancia’s most powerful and influential corporations .

“Instead, we should set up the ‘adventurous activities’ camp under the guise of one of the powerful corporations. Even though the Nationalists have favored big corporations and given them a lot of leverage, I doubt every single one of the Fortune 500 companies has complete respect for the regime. If we can find a megacorporation that secretly distrusts the government, we can ally with them and set up a training force or even a paramilitary group with them. The major companies in Kancia have very little restrictions, being allowed to do almost anything so long the Party doesn’t view them as a threat. And it’s not hard for the big businesses to make it seem like they are friendly to the government.” He continued.

“As for the second question, there are quite a few armed groups that could help us. Some private entities possess massive paramilitary wings that consist of tens of thousands of members. While most said groups are probably not willing to assist the cause, there are certainly several that are. I have personally encountered gangs and even organized mafia-affiliated armed groups which have had rough relations with the government. Perhaps the Kancian Free Eagles could be an assistance, as they have over 8,000 armed members and don’t particularly like Numik’s obsession with law enforcement.”

[Nacrad]

"Fortune 500 companies, you say? I know someone who runs a company specialising in these 'adventure camps' that got bought by a subsidiary of a subsidiary of a subsidiary of one of them. Maybe that'd work? If that fails, we might have to take things into our own hands. At least I don't have any ideas just yet."

"By the way, do you have any social democrats in key leadership positions in the military or police force? They can be a very useful asset to keep."

[Kancia]

“That would likely work, considering there are plenty of companies to chose from that aren’t as restricted as you would think. There are also a few paramilitary corporations with armies stronger than the militaries of entire countries, but they tend to be more closely watched by the Nationalists than usual. Still, your idea seems to be reasonable as the Kancia Government is rather supportive businesses as long as they are influential and not considered a threat to them. I suggest making sure the camps look as naive and harmless as possible, just for safety measures.” The SDP official responded.

“But, most social democrats are prohibited from high ranking positions of power. Anyone in our party who runs for any political position is heavily monitored and often risks imprisonment or worse. Not many social democrats are high ranking in the military or police, at least open ones. Back in the 1997 purge, dozens of generals were executed for their affiliation with our party, but I think I know a general or two that secretly support our cause. I know for certain that not every single soldier is going to be blindly following the Nationalist Parties orders, as eventually a small minority will have the courage to speak out against the orders to massacre their own people.”

[Nacrad]

"Hmm... That's to be expected. I suppose we should start by setting up training camps -- no, sorry, 'adventure camps' -- in Kancia, training you guys to be a powerful contender, and when you have about a million trained, link up with the generals and take power? Does that sound like a good plan?

"In addition, I'll send some agents from NID to negotiate an arrangement for our agents to be smuggled in."

[Kancia]

The SDP group nodded.

“Seems like a good plan. But we have to be quick and try to take power before the Nationalists can launch reprisals. The atrocities that Numik would go to in order to retain power would be catastrophic, considering how little he shows remorse for massacring thousands of his own people. There is a high chance of a civil war erupting with foreign nations getting involved. We have to do everything humanly possible to avoid this scenario.” A lead figure of the group answered. He paused for a moment, then continued.

“But, yeah. Your plan is probably the best bet we have in this underdog fight. If we train enough people, our chances of putting the Kancian Government to justice would be far better. We cannot let Numik avoid justice for the torture and murder of hundreds of thousands of his own people.”

He picked up the note slid to his side of the table.

“Ok, just be prepared for a bombardment of questions from our peers back in Kancia. But your agents would be of important assistance, so take care of those negotiations.”

He slid the note into his pocket, making sure it was safe. He then turned to the rest of the SDP members.

“What do you guys think?”

A few moments of silence passed. Finally, the group collectively came to an agreement.

Freedom is the utmost priority.

[Nacrad]

"OK. Do you have any more questions? If not, you're free to go now."

The man in suit said, putting down his coffee mug.

[Kancia]

The group members glanced over at each other.

“Not at the moment.” One member answered.

The rest of the group agreed. The lead member of the SDP group came forward again, then gazed back to the crowd behind him.

“My friends, be patient, the process of mustering enough power to fight the government will take a while.” He announced.

“But we have a chance. Once we get the ‘adventure camp’ ready, the fall of the KNP will only be a matter of time. I guess this meeting today can come to a conclusion.”

He turned to the Nacradian official.

“We know what to do.”

[Nacrad]

"Good luck," he said, sternly, holding out his hand as he wanted to shake hands with the lead member.

He, as the president of such company, wrote a letter to the Kancian Department of Commerce,

To whom it may concern,

I am writing on behalf of Sunshine Adventure and Training Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of a part of Aegis Defence Service, to request permission to open a service called an "Adventure Camp" with in the same esteemed model we have perused from our nation of origin. As such, we request a plot of land roughly 75 acres in area in the countryside, preferably in the hills. I hope to hear your reply soon.

The lead SDP figure shook the officials hand.

“I think we’re ready.” He turned to the group and was met with agreement.

Kancian Department of Commercial Development HQ, Kancia City, Kancia

A man in a suit was resting at his office, filing out documents, when all of a sudden a knock vibrated on his door.

“Come in.” He quietly stated.

“Sir, more letters have arrived at the inbox.” An aide announced. He handed the official a stack of documents to respond to.

The official opened up the first letter and read through it.

“Sunshine Adventure... adventure camp ... 75 acres... Ok. So a company wants to set up an adventure camp? Hand this to the land department.” The official stated. He then went on to the next letter.

The aide took the letter and walked to a separate room. He approached the official sitting at the desk, handing the letter.

The official at the desk skimmed through the document. A response was quickly made.

Dear Grayson Tsang,

Your request has been acknowledged. 75 acres in the Nivaziv Piedmont will be open for your company’s use. We will notify the private entities overseeing the Nivaziv Province, and the paperwork will be handled from there.

The company's leaders, as well as a few figures from the NID under pseudonyms.

They then walked out of the airport after clearing the immigration, and went to the closest car rental to rent a car in order to go to Nivaziv Province, where they will go to the local government building in order to get the appropriate documents.

Uzville, Nivaziv Province, Kancia

After a long drive spanning several hours, the car finally came to a halt at Uzville, a small town near the southern border of Nivaziv. The town was located on a massive rolling hills region in the province, and was a matter of kilometers away from the requested plot of land. The company leaders parked at the entrance of a 3-story windowless building, as that’s where the map lead them.

A figure in a black suit and with the Kancian Emblem on his shirt approached the vehicle. Behind him were several other officials as well as a couple of body guards. He met the company officials with a welcoming voice.

“Welcome to Nivaziv, the province where our dear President was raised! Now, about your request for land.”

[Nacrad]

The smile disappeared on Andrew's face, in part because of the tiring journey, and in part because of the figure in black suits.

"Yes? I assume that you're going to take us to the plot we've been allotted? Before you do that, however, could you let us use the washroom for a moment?"

[Kancia]

The official simply smiled and pointed his hands to the entrance of the building.

“Make yourself comfortable. There is no need to hurry.”

He held out his hand, waiting for a handshake.

“We make sure to create the most suitable environment for private enterprise, so your land will be kept safe.”

[Nacrad]

He also held out his hand, and they exchanged a firm handshake. Everyone in the car also came outside, since they had been on the road for hours.

"Ah, I understand. I wonder where the washroom is, though?"

[Kancia]

“Oh, just for follow me.” The official chuckled.

He and his associates stepped towards the entrance of the building. He held open the door at the entrance, letting everyone in one at a time. Behind the doors was a wide hallway connected to a plethora of rooms and entrances, each marked with a number.

“The washroom is right down the end of the hall, to the left side. You’ll see a sign showing which restroom is which. We’ll just wait for you at the room right across.”

[Nacrad]

"Alright, thanks."

One by one, they entered the washroom, and relieved themselves in the surprisingly clean toilet stalls. After they cleaned themselves up, they walked out.

"Alright, sorry for that. I take it that we will go to the plot of land now?"
