They wouldn't be above the tech level. Though the Crown Prince's weapon has an actual blade so it can not be energized and still functional. Just lightsabers kinda suck irl to use since all the weight is in the hilt and pommel so they've be very hard to actually wield without killing yourself. Nor would they stop projectiles.

Ah, so if I make a blade that's an actual metal blade, but with some kind of energy hue glowing around it, would it be okay?

That is also fine. The thing with lightsabers is that they don't work in real life as they do in the films without breaking physics. Mainly the whole deflection of incoming projectiles and the fact they'd be rather odd to wield due to the blade being weightless. So a sword would actually be more practical. Though, I imagine no one is going to be doing BS deflecting with their blades cause well...reflexes.

Name: Nathaniel Rosewood
Nickname: (If applicable)
Age: 135
Birth Date: 25,574
Gender: Male
Planet of Origin: Nova Terra
Race/Species: Base-line Human
Height: 5'10
Weight: 140 pounds
Physical Description or Image: Nathaniel Rosewood in navy uniform
Social Class: Being born into the Rosewood Great House made Nathaniel one of the richest persons in the galaxy merely by his birth and inheritance as the head of the Rosewood family
Titles: Noble, Duke
Occupation: Semi-retired due to a declining physical health, but still manages some aspects of the Rosewood family, sometimes taking their seat on the Imperial Senate when his condition allows him to travel to Nova Terra and participate.
Hobbies/Pastimes: Nathaniel is an avid reader and a patron of the arts.
Talents/Skills: A master naval engineer, highly intelligent, a fine understanding of naval tactics and strategy
Religious Beliefs: Agnostic
Personality: Modest and rather humble for someone born into his station, Nathaniel is a fine conversationalist and polite to a fault, though he has steadily become more withdrawn and somewhat irritable as his physical condition worsens.

Biography: Born in one of the Rosewoods palatial residences on Nova Terra, Nathaniel was brought up with all the dignity, pride, and burdens of bearing the Rosewood name. Being the first-born child of his parents, Archibald and Amelia Rosewood, Nathaniel was destined to one day become the head of House Rosewood, which made his burdens and responsibilities all the heavier. Educated by the best tutors money could buy, Nathaniel grew to be an intelligent and witty young man, though even at early ages he was noted as being modest and humble.

At the age of sixteen Nathaniel was admitted to the Nova Terra Naval Academy, and after several years of study he graduated, naturally closer to the top of his close. He could have secured an easy station with his name alone, though he opted to simply allow the navy to place him as it willed, ending up on the Navy Destroyer Valiant as it embarked on a multi-year combat patrol in the fringes of the galaxy, certainly a dangerous station for a newly graduated cadet, let alone a member of a Great House, and some suspected that Emperor Baldor had made it so, trying to weaken the Rosewoods, the ancient rival of his own House. Nathaniel himself declined to speculate and gossip, after all the Rosewood-Val'Vaeniad feud, almost as ancient as the Imperium itself, was in a down-turn.

Regardless of the reasons why, the Valiant soon found itself in combat against rebels and pirates, and Nathaniel made a proper showing of himself, the captain of the Valiant noting his calm and valor while under fire, both in ship engagements and while with Marines on away missions, in a commendation. Nathaniel's navy career would continue on for another forty years, seeing him rise to the rank of Admiral, earning a number of medals, commendations, and other awards. His career was cut short brutally however, when an officers dinner he was attending was attacked in a chemical and biological terrorist attack. While Nathaniel survived the attack, his body was inflicted by a biological agent that had essentially no cure, and it was only by a miracle that he had survived at all, though his body would slowly kill itself, with medication only slowing the process.

Now unable to function as an officer should, Nathaniel resigned his commission and retired to the vast Rosewood domain, taking up a position once again in his families primary shipyard. Twenty years after retiring from the navy, his father Archibald died, thrusting Nathaniel into position as the head of his House. While he didn't shy away, his condition has continued to take it's toll on him, and he has steadily been retiring away from public life, while his sister, the next oldest sibling, steadily takes over more of his duties, preparing to assume the mantle as Head of House.

Name: Victoria Rosewood
Nickname: (If applicable)
Age: 130
Birth Date: 25,579
Gender: Female
Planet of Origin: Silverthorn
Race/Species: Full blooded Solarian
Height: 6'4
Weight: 190
Physical Description or Image: Victoria Rosewood
Social Class: Noble, immensely wealthy
Titles: Lady of House Rosewood
Occupation: The unofficial head of House Rosewood as her brother Nathaniel's condition has worsened over time, Victoria runs the Rosewood Shipyards, and is more often then not the person who attends the Imperial Senate and various other functions of State. She is also the High Mistress of the Order of the Rose
Hobbies/Pastimes: Martial training, reading, various others
Talents/Skills: Successful businesswoman, master naval engineer, accomplished officer, and an expert in all forms of combatant, though especially hand-to-hand
Religious Beliefs: (If applicable, feel free to make a faith of your homeworld)

Personality: Victoria is a proud woman, and while not as humble as her older brother she is not entirely outright arrogant, though when she is it is often justified. Victoria does enjoy the wealth her birth has given her, and enjoys sharing it, often throwing extensive balls and feasts for the high-born and low-born alike. As she has continued to more and more prepare to assume the title of Duchess as her older brothers condition has continued to worsen, she has developed into a traditional Rosewood leader, stern but fair with their subjects, harsh and ruthless to their enemies.

Biography: Born as the second eldest child to Archibald and Amelia Rosewood, Victoria's birth was a celebrated event in the House, as there hadn't been a pure blooded Solarian in the Rosewood line in millennia. If Nathaniel had been given the best schooling and training, Victoria was given even better. She quickly blossomed into a stunning woman, and once she reached adulthood she entered into the Order of the Rose to undergo a decade of living with the warrior-women, learning their martial skills. After a decade she left the Order honorably, passing all their ancient tests and rites that would allow her to be claimed as Grand Mistress of the Order once the current Grand Mistress, her own mother, passed or resigned the post.

Once out of the Order, Victoria assumed the mantle of Commodore in the House Fleet, a traditional post for the second born of the House. Here her military training was continued, though only on a tactical and strategic level, as physically she exceeded all marks. Although she would only see a few tours of duty on patrol, seconded to the Imperial Navy, and only light combat, Victoria would leave the active part of the position and instead assume the responsibilities in the Rosewood Shipyards, apprenticing under the Master Engineer, although she had mastered her own engineering courses during her schooling, working under an experienced Master could never be beaten. A decade and a half later and Victoria took the reigns, continuing the millennia old Rosewood tradition of creating the finest ships in the galaxy.

Her life continued much the same, though when her mother died and father retired from public life, Victoria took on the mantle of Grand Mistress of the Order of the Rose, and began managing some aspects of House Rosewood, as Nathaniel was still in the Navy at this time. When her brother finally retired from the navy, following the tragic attack, Victoria found herself actually being given more training. As Nathaniel told her, his condition was only going to get worse and she would be the Head of the House before too long. Victoria continued to take up the responsibilities as Head of House, slowly but surely. Eventually Nathaniel wasn't even able to make the trips to the Imperial Senate, and she began undertaking them as well, finding she rather enjoyed the politics and chaos of it all, matching her wits against others.

Now Victoria is the Head of House Rosewood in all but official title.

If Great House or a leader of a Faction like a SAS, Colony, Et Cetera
Name of Territory: The Duchy of Rosewood

Government: The governments in the vast holdings of House Rosewood are mostly a meritocracy, with planetary and sector governors being selected for their skill and accomplishments in their fields, though lesser offices are filled by various means, mostly by local meritocratic-democratic elections. Some holdings also fall under semi-feudal systems, as lesser branches of the Rosewood family and lesser noble houses loyal to the Rosewoods hold ancient titles, though the Head of House Rosewood holds the total power to revoke any title or position if presented with evidence of competence or improper rule.

Capital World: Silverthorn

Population: Half a billion

Economy: (jack of all trades, do you specialize in specific goods? Preferred economic system?) The economy of the Duchy is immensely strong, as House Rosewood has, over the millennia, invested in nearly every sort of business in the Imperium. They own ancient charters on trade, mineral rights, and thousands of other stakes, claims, rights, contacts, and treaties that take up an entire wing in the primary residence on Silverthorn.

Beyond these, the Rosewoods are known as master ship builders, are among the most premium, if not the most premium, ship builders in the galaxy. They also have an immensely developed heavy industry across their territories.

Culture: There are hundreds, or even thousands, of different cultures throughout the Duchy, mostly human, but a decent number of xenos as well, as the Duchy has always been open to immigration from both humans and alien species, and has at times of high anti-xenos sentiment, actually been a haven for aliens fleeing other parts of the Imperium. So long as an immigrant contributes and does their part, they are welcomed.

Of note however is the near universal aspect of duty and loyalty, even in the harshest of times, though this extends to the Imperium and House Rosewood, and not entirely to the Imperial House itself, given to the ancient feud. 'Keep calm and carry on' and 'A stiff upper lip' are common sayings in the Duchy

Social Structure: The social structure in the Duchy is fairly fluid, except for the higher nobility, though minor noble titles are granted within the Duchy to those of outstanding service to the Duchy. Of note however are the extensive programs and public works that have essentially eliminated poverty throughout the duchy, with the vast majority of citizens living comfortable, if sometimes hard, lives.

Territorial Size: (How many settled planets/moons/stations, broken down into what kind: Arid, Alpine, Continental, Desert, Artic, Barren, Dead (No Atmosphere), Death World (everything wants to kill non-natives), Oceanic, Terraformed (not natural and extremely expensive, needs Imperial permission), Gaia (rare natural gems of worlds) The Duchy lays claim and rights to roughly 500 planets, and while they control a large swath of territory in the Imperial Core territories, they also have enclaves of worlds and systems scattered throughout the Imperium.

1 Gaia worlds
8 continental worlds
24 Terraformed worlds
17 Arid worlds
98 Barren worlds
75 Cheti worlds
7 Artic worlds
3 Death worlds
263 Dead worlds (With 54 being Tomb worlds)
15 Volcanic worlds

Military and Security Forces:

The Rosewood Fleet is the second largest dedicated naval formation in the galaxy, after the Imperial Navy, and while nowhere near possessing the number of ships or power of the Navy, the Duchy Fleets are no small matter. Consisting of thousands of ships, with a large percentage being Heavy cruisers and above (The Rosewoods are famed for their Heavy ships above all else), the Rosewoods are allowed to maintain such a force thanks to ancient treaty, which states that when needed, the Imperial Navy may call into service upwards of 75% of the Rosewood fleets to assist them in their tasks. Many have wondered why the Imperial House has allowed their rival to maintain such an amount of ships, but scholars note an old Empress saying 'If such a fleet ever becomes a genuine threat to our rule, our family deserves to be thrown from the throne.'

The Fleet has an accompanying Marine Corps as well, highly trained and equipped, they deal with ship boarding, and minor planetary operations.

The House Guard is comprised of nearly a quarter of a billion professional, highly trained and disciplined soldiers. Like the Fleet, the House Guard is noted for its formations of heavy units thanks again to the vast heavy industries of the Duchy. The House Guard is tasked with garrison duty, and in the times of rare, severe civil unrest, are called upon to help assist local authorities with manpower.

The Order of the Rose: Formed in the early ages of the Imperium, the Order of the Rose is an all-female militant order that was brought into being during the reign of one of the first Mad Emperors of the Imperium, who in their paranoia declared that Great Houses could have no men under arms, which prompted the Great Houses to use the loop-hole and simple had women under arms. The Mad Emperors reign was short lived, and less then a year after this decree he was dead and the decree was revoked. While the vast majority of the Great Houses reverted back to their previous formations, House Rosewood retained this new formation as a separate entity. Like the Imperial Guard that would be formed later, the Order of the Rose grew to be a large, elite formation of soldiers equipped with some of the best non-Solarian tech in the galaxy, and were utterly loyal to House Rosewood and the Imperium, though not the Imperial Family.

The Order of the Rose today boasts roughly three million in number, and act as the premier elite formation and heavy enforcers of House Rosewood, acting as personal guards for the family and other important figures of the Duchy.

Well, she is essentially the acting head of House Rosewood, with Nathaniel being increasingly physically crippled.

Yes but in a more refined and limited form where it’s just more fighting between various sects.

Hm. Two questions for the IC.

What would a “standard” tax rate for a galactic scale trade route be?

That world the fanatics overran - was it part of a larger SAS? A House’s holdings?

Probably not a universal thing since the logistics of collecting such a task would be the responsibility of the planets and polities along the route. So levying what is essentially a “imperial level tax” would be on top of whatever planets charge to dock in system, and whatever their own import/export fees are. Which are probably 1-3%. Being a major route I can’t see planets or polities being super steep.

I'm going to let the plot develop a little more. Once there are a few player characters interacting in a given place, I'll just have a Deynai show up there and join the fun.
For really, I think that the poorest he that is in England hath a life to live as the greatest he. And therefore truly, Sir, I think it's clear that every man that is to live under a Government ought first by his own consent to put himself under that Government. And I do think that the poorest man in England is not at all bound in a strict sense to that Government that he hath not had a voice to put himself under.

Name: Visyrath Stormoth-Spyre
Nickname: "The Slinger"
Age: 75
Birth Date: 19 848 IC
Gender: Male
Planet of Origin: Erramen
Race/Species: Human
Height: 1.77 meters.
Weight: 80 kilos.
Physical Description or Image: Here ya go.
Social Class: Dominai Majoris Aristocracy - House Stormoth-Spyre to be precise.
Titles: Faeron (King) of Isrand - Protector of the Realm and all Israndi - Lord Count of the Three Brands - Three times Champion of the Scutum-Crux Slingshot-Racing Competition (19 895, 19 009 and 19 911)
Occupation: Faeron of Isrand.

Hobbies/Pastimes: Visyrath has a long-time passion for Gravity-Assisted Racing which he has pursued since his 20's. He also enjoys hiking, the studies of prudent stewardship, military strategy and likes sparring with staves and blades alike.
Talents/Skills: He has a number of good qualities to him, first is his undeniable skill administering the realm. Though much of the groundwork was laid out by his father, Visyrath has continued on the path of raising the once long declining fortunes of Isrand. His competitive racing success makes him somewhat of a celebrity, something he uses to "rouse the rabble" of the Kingdom along with his rhetorical style, which sets him in the light of caring protector of the Kingdom and it's people. His active lifestyle also keeps him fit and in good shape.

Religious Beliefs: Israndic Syncretism - A mix mostly of native Israndic polytheism with elements introduced from major Human faiths.

Personality: "I am not blind, nor deaf. I know you all believe me weak, frightened, feeble. All talk with nothing to prop it up. Someone who smiles, japes and jests, then hides. Your father knows me better. Ordvan was ever the serpent, the deadly Constrictor. Deadly, dangerous, none dared tread on him. I was the grass. Pleasant, friendly, sweet-smelling, swaying with every breeze. Who fears to walk upon the grass? But it is the grass that hides the snake from his enemies and shelters him until he strikes."

Biography: As the firstborn son and heir of the aging Faeron Shelysir II, Visyrath grew up surrounded by wealth, splendor and the opulence that the House of Stormoth-Spyre is known for an equally as detested as renowned for across the noble circles of the galaxy. The Luminant Hall, vast palatial complex of House Stormoth-Spyre on the capital world of their Kingdom was his home, and the prince along with his siblings was deeply loved by his aging parents who finally managed to produce heirs to the throne. Visyrath's mother, Queen Alethine had terrible issues during her earlier pregnancies, losing two children early on. Indeed, Visyrath and his siblings were all subject to extensive and expensive gene-therapy even when in the womb as to counteract the deformities that would otherwise have afflicted them, seeing as the Stormoth-Spyre marriage customs aimed to avoid civil conflict by marrying claimants with each-other have resulted in 10 of the last 15 Stormoth-Spyre marriages being between a brother and a sister while 2 were between niece and cousin.

Visyrath and his twin-sister Kharyn, born immediately after him and the two siblings were inseparable in their early childhood. As a child Visyrath played together with his sister in the great gardens of the Hall and his parents afforded the royal children some of the finest educations a noble child could get from Deynai Magisters in order to properly groom them for the task that lay ahead. Indeed, the aging Faeron was clear from the start, it was their duty to assure the rise of Isrand from the ashes, the muck and the mire that it had crawled in for centuries. This weight was, as can be expected, foremost placed on the heir to the throne and young Prince Visyrath spent many, many long hours in the libraries and data-vaults of the Luminant Hall, his Deynai tutors ever close. As the boy slowly grew to manhood, it was clear that he had quite the aptitude for statecraft, administration and stewardship. At family gatherings he would often converse about the state of the realm, bringing up vague, minute facts and statistics he found in the royal records of state and weaving them into complex plans on "putting the realm right" which greatly pleased his father. However, he showed another side to him as well, one that loved nature, he would spend much of his free time in the gardens of the Hall or hiking across the most breathtaking areas of the Isrand with his brother Ordvan. His greatest passion however was that of gravitationally-assisted racing, a passion he shared with his sister.

As custom dictated, Visyrath was married to his sister Kharyn, in a lavish ceremony the two siblings were bonded in matrimony and soon after that, they were forced to don the twin crowns of Isrand. Under Visyrath's reign, he continued his fathers laborious work to drag Isrand back to it's days of golden glory, while the road had already mostly been paved and readied for him by his father, Faeron Visyrath put his skill in statecraft and administration to use in order to bring the rampant inflation under control and jump-start the economy by a program that has become commonly known as "Visyromics". With a relatively weak Isradic Credit encouraging exports alongside encouragement of corporate investment such as in the Lorea colony and increased domestic spending as a result of several mega-projects and incentives to improve the standard of living in the most impoverished and over-populated areas of Isrand, the kingdom's economy has seen rapid growth for several decades and is rapidly becoming an important "anchor-economy" for it's region of the Scutum-Crux. Faeron Visyrath, despite the demands placed on his by his position has not abandoned passion for racing and indeed, he is a three time champion of the Scutum-Crux Slingshot-Racing Competition. However, the Imperium is changing, the decay... the rot... it seems clear to all with half a wit that the galaxy will soon be entering a cycle of change and violent upheaval. Ever devoted to the Kingdom, Visyrath is preparing, hoping he will not have to make the hard decisions that might be his to make, of where to send the troops in the Emperor's name, for abandoning the Imperium is, as things stand, out of the question.

Important Persons in Immediate Circle
Kharyn Stormoth-Spyre: Visyrath's sister and wife, Faera of Isrand.

Ordvan Stormoth-Spyre: Visyrath's brother, Imperial Navy Veteran, honorably discharged, currently serving in the Royal Navy of Isrand.

Vrarloth Stormoth-Spyre: Visyrath's Uncle, Representative of Isrand at the Imperial Senate.

Lord Remin Castravan: Hand of the Faeron, Head of the Small Council.

Axius Mzandie: Commander of the King's Own, Household Guard of House Stormoth-Spyre.

Name of Territory: The Kingdom of Isrand
Government: Administrative Monarchy - Vassal of the Imperium under Star Feudalism.
Capital World: Erramen.
Population: Approximately 85 Billion.

Economy: A highly diversified economy. It follow a mixed approach or a "market apporach with active state-support" as it is called by the government. The Israndic economy had been stagnant for a long time until the reign of Faeron Shelysir II and his reforms, later continued by his son and is currently growing rapidly. Contemporary analysts are commending the Israndic economy on not over-relying on a single export sector, the low levels of private debt and low rates of unemployment as well as flexible currency. It has a strong agricultural, light industry, and hydrogen-helium refining sector and is currently host to fast growing, banking, research and heavy industries as well thanks to increased corporate investment over the last five decades.

Culture: The culture of the Kingdom of Isrand is greatly influenced by it's religion and demographic situation. Only 5% of the population are human while the Iaar and Tzyran make up the vast majority of the population, having their homeworlds within the Kingdom's borders. A syncretic religion had already begun developing by the time the region was conquered by the Imperium and when Thereza Stormoth-Spyre, founder of this great a noble lineage was elevated to the position of Queen of this new Imperial vassal state, she quickly began taking on local customs in order to portray herself as a local ruler. She created a new god, Cealiastis, to garner support from both Humans, Iaar and Tzyrans. Cealiastis is the patron god of Isrand and has powers over fertility, the suns, funerary rites, and medicine. His growth and popularity reflected a deliberate policy by the Israndic state, and was characteristic of the dynasty's use of local religions and customs to legitimize their rule and strengthen their control. The religious syncretism and a focus on spirituality permeate the culture, creating a common identity of "Israndi" which crosses the barriers of species and space. The Israndi history of tolerance and outright embrace of alien culture and it's location in the outer edge of the Mid-rim makes the Kingdom an attractive destination for xeno intellectuals from more the more anti-alien Periphery.

Social Structure: The social structure of Isrand is characterized by a human-dominated elite layered on top of an old, well-established xeno hierarchy. The human nobility dominate the highest political positions and make up the Royal Court and senior administrative positions within the bureaucracy. The xeno-dominated priesthood is a powerful force and important in keeping society stable as the Isradi Syncretist faith has become a major pillar of internal stability and thus the clergy and major corporations tend to have some degree of lobbying power. The majority of Israndi people are xenos who overwhelmingly fill out the middle-classes and lower-classes except on a few human-majority worlds. While in the beginning, xenos were barred from rising past a certain level in administration, the military, law enforcement and other similar state services. These policies have largely been done away with, though humans are still often more able to rise higher due to traditional favoritism.

Territorial Size: 150 Star-systems make up the Kingdom of Isrand and within them are a total of 45 colonized worlds and a further 200 colonized asteroids, colonized moons and space-stations and outposts. The planets range from from the heavily-urbanized capital world of Erramen with it's sprawling mega-cities and a population of 35 billion to small colonies on the fringe with a population of no more than a few thousand in small settlements of pre-fabricated houses to colonized asteriods, moons or space stations.

Military and Security Forces: The Royal Armed Forces of Isrand prefer to fight offensively, much more concerned with the quick destruction of the enemy force rather than the taking and holding of ground in prolonged battles of attrition. Pinpoint destruction is favored, with the hope of breaking through weak points in the enemy front and then immediately launching deep into their rear, cutting supply lines and logistics, destroying headquarters along with supply-dumps and support units and then leaving the enemy to wither away surrounded, cut off from communications and supplies. If an enemy attacks with overwhelming force, the Israndi will usually evacuate, dismantle or destroy all important technology and equipment and return at a later time with a greater force to retake it in a decisive counter-attack. Large focus is maintained on speed, firepower, recon/situational awareness, adaptability and establishing cyber-superiority within the battle-space. The idea of a static defense is a foreign concept to the Israndi officer corps´ military philosophy. Fighting to defend every little scrap of strategically unimportant ground is not seen as honorable, it is in fact seen as infinitely stupid. Many worlds only have token garrisons placed on them which are intended for scouting and guerrilla ops rather than large-scale combat, harassing the enemy and avoiding large engagements to observe and report on the invaders using drones and scout teams. The Royal Armed Forces station powerful concentrations of fleets and armies at strategic points in the Kingdom's star clusters so that in the event of an attack they can soon respond with overwhelming force. It should be noted that there is no large distinction made into various service branches such as an army or navy. For example field officers could command ground operations as well as starships with Fleets being the basic organizational unit, with each fleet consisting of warships and land forces led by an Archon and his staff of Subarchs. The RAFI have a total of 220 000 000 active personnel and count 75 space-faring warships from it's two Assault-Carriers with crews and complements of 25 000 crew to many small Patrol Corvettes with 50-man complements. The most numerous ship-class is the Ophean-Class Frigate with a 800-man complement. Some of it's ships are modern but most are of centuries-old classes, albeit very well-maintained.

Mass Effect Andromeda is a solid 7/10. Deal with it.

This is by far the biggest Great House app in the OOC:

165 billion subjects

45 million soldiers

25,500 warshops of every size.

1,300 colonized planets

He can take on Uri's entire Coalition all by himself.
There is no such thing as peace, only truce between wars

I'm kinda doing the Game of Thrones thing

I'm making a reference to the monstrous evil in Episode 1, and then I won't mention them again until season four :)

Nah but seriously, I thought it'd be cool to bring them into the story, cuz they were never defeated, just held off, so yeah I'm RPing that they're back. Unless Imp stops me from doing so
