The Wolf and the Eagle (OOC/PT/Low FanT/Signups)

The world as most know it is in turmoil. From the freezing winds of the Nordlands to the tropical climes of the Gulfmen, worrying rumors abound. Rumors of war, of a Two-Headed Wolf, of forces across the freezing Easter Sea, of men long thought dead returning to reclaim what was once theirs. Most sensible men dismiss these as the talk of sailors, peasants, and the superstitious, but there are a few who believe them. Chief among them is the Duc de Terreneuve, who has sent his great fleet across the Easter Sea to learn of these so-called "Brythons." His fellow Nordlanders have dubbed him 'the Mad,' for no ship has ever crossed the Easter Sea and lived to tell the tale, but the Duc believes that if he can learn of these Brythons, and their mystical land of Albys, he could perhaps stand a chance of surviving the coming storm, if the talk of sailors is to be believed.
In the South, the burgeoning Confederacy of the Neurld faced threats both internal and external. The current Emperor, Maxwell II Rothschild, won the election by a mere two votes, and so his rival, the self-proclaimed Emperor Clark IX Tennesley, has roused his supporters to rebellion. As the Confederacy deals with a civil war, Lonestar raiders under the Texarkan king, Bartolmew Beckett, have crossed the Confederate border into the Grand Duchy of Misasipye, wreaking havoc across the fertile fields and towns. Even the great city of Saint Lewis, old even before the Collapse, is under threat.
Farther West, the people sing praises to the Seraph, the Heavens, and to the line of Nortonid, who trace their lineage to the first Emperor of Calif, Norton I. The current Son-of-the-Seraph, Celestial Zophar 'the Magnificent,' rules the Heavenly Empire of Calif with a firm hand, yet beneath the calm exterior, Calif is in turmoil. To the South, the revanchist Empire of Mexica, under Emperador Zipactonal Coaqui, seeks to bring the rowdy Lonestar tribes to heel, while even farther South, a great jaguar sleeps.
Rising amongst the ruins of the fallen Union of Northemeria, the great maritime republics of Neuangla hold the ears of king and emperor alike. The greatest of these, the Serene Archate of Neuyore, is where the Blood of Old Northemeria still runs thick, and names like Roseavelt, Clinetoon, Barocke, and more still hold sway. It is here where the Aekademi of the Olurld is situated, which studies the possible existence of the Olurld, which is mentioned many times in antediluvian works, especially ones by the great Gaemes Worshop, who most historians have credited with writing most of what is known about the Olurld. It is here where the tongue of the Old Northemerians is still spoke, Anglith, and to speak the Common Tongue is to be treated as scum.
And lastly, we journey to the Sea of Eyrie, where the rising power of the Kingdom of the Cleave rules. Holding land from the Ilynoi Marches to the border of the Nordlands, the Kingdom of the Cleave has been ruled by House Hexos for the last century. Situated in the ancient city of Cleaven, the current ruler of the Cleave, King Bismaric III, seeks to expand his territory, and has recently sent his twin children, Prince Lykos and Princess Lupa, to harass the border villages of the Pensigreik in preparation for the main force. Yet King Bismaric III does not lack for enemies, and his half-brother, Ottaker, has managed to rouse the various jarls and petty kings of Mikag to war, and has had himself proclaimed Iskonge of Mikag, and prepares to march his Mikager host to war. In the Wolf Court itself, Bismaric's brother-in-law, Lord Peremyr Nikraski of Chikagoe, seeks to restore the ancient line of Nikraski to the Chikagoen throne, and will most likely make a move against House Hexos if Bismaric marches to war.
It is a horrid time to live in Northemeria, with such conflict brewing just on the horizon. But if the rumors are true, can the lords of Northemeria put aside their differences to throw the men across the waters back into the sea, or will they drown in their own hubris? Only time will tell, and the wills of men.

Hello, and welcome to my RP, the Wolf and the Eagle! This takes place in a post-apocalyptic world that has been thrown back into the dark ages. Confederate knights ride through the ruins of Gettysburg, Richmond, and Atlanta, misinterpreting the few elligeble artifacts for symbols of the American people, who they call the Northemerians. Much has been forgotten, including the English language, with only the patricians of Neuangla still speaking the old language, which they call Anglith. You play a peasent, nobleman, lord, raider, explorer, slaver, patrician, or anything you can think of. Be it a Mikag vikun or a Calif legionnaire, as long as you possess the skill you can do it. And so, onto the rules.
1. Don't metagame or godmod. Obviously.
2. Don't have your PC spouting off facts about Old America, or correcting them on their pronunciation. Even the greatest scholars believe that Games Workshop, or Gaemes Worshop, was a historian and not a company. It stands to reason that you would too.
3. YOU CAN DIE. If you decide to pull a Jon Snow and get stabbed a bunch while people yell, "For the Watch!" then you'll die. You can write a new character, but Ded McDedsson is gone for good.
4. If you choose to use magic, be careful. Magic, while rare, is seen as dangerous and demonic, so if someone sees you doing it, they'll get a mob together and burn you at a stake.
5. Guns. You can't have a gun to begin with. You could find one, perhaps on a body, perhaps in some ruins, but you can't start with it. I'll not have you pull a Jorg Ancrath and shoot the much better warrior in the face with some gun you magically have and win an entire war right off the bat.
6. As far as anyone knows, nothing exists past the Easter (Atlantic) or Wester (Pacific) Seas. You and I both know that's wrong, but your character does not.
7. Don't be a dick. If you harass, shitpost, or otherwise disregard this rule, I will ban you from the RP.
8. You have to show that you are a capable writer. Each post must be, at a minimum, two paragraphs long and with minimal errors. Flubbing a couple words or forgetting a period is fine, but misspelling everything and making tons of grammar mistakes will make it so I might not let you in the RP.
9. Have fun. If you don't have fun, I will do absolutely nothing, because you'd already be punishing yourself if you continued to RP without enjoying it.

Character Application

Name: Gaylen Tailier II
Sex: Male
Allegiance: Noble
Nationality: (delete everything but the one you choose) Southron
Age: 24
Family: House Tailier, which upon first glance appears French in origin, has no such claim to a Frankish heritage. Rather, House Tailier is deeply rooted in Anglith tradition. The family altered the spelling of its name when it gained significant claims to land near Lewisian territory, though much of its holdings and power are concentrated in [the IC name for Virginia]. House Tailier is one of the most powerful Houses, if not the most powerful House, in its local state, and is certainly one of the most powerful houses in Southron.

The current Head of House Tailier is Zackeri Tailier, a grizzled man with great deeds in combat and atrocious spelling. He is a bachelor and Gaylen's granduncle who came into power after Gaylen's grandfather and Zackeri's elder brother, William, died of a consuming disease (OOC: Tuberculosis). Next in line is Gaylen's father, Gaylen the Elder; he has two younger brothers and three younger sisters (Adami, Paeley, Helena, Ross, Tiffani).

Gaylen's mother, Margaret, hails from the similarly powerful House Zhefferson, which has lands to the west of the Tailier territories but still within the same region (OOC: state) of Southron. While she is alive and well, Gaylen the Elder once had an affair with a Vikun woman from Mikag when Gaylen (our main boi) was small; as a result, Gaylen the Younger has an illegitimate half sister, Poitri, aged 15. He also has a 23-year-old brother, Henricus, as well as another sister, Emma, aged 21.

Gaylen is married to Caroligne Claymore, with whom he has an infant son named Theodore.

Appearance:

Image

Bio: Lord Gaylen Tailier II was born to Gaylen Tailier I and Margaret Zhefferson Tailier in the midwinter 24 years ago, two years ere a plague of consumption (can rename if you want it to be called something else) ripped through the region. Gaylen, fortunately, was spared from the ravages of the illness, but several subjects and both of Gaylen's paternal grandparents tragically succumbed to the illness. Thus, his Grand Uncle Zackeri became Hard of House Tailier and remains so to this day.

Gaylen was raised from the time he was small to prepare for his eventual succession as the Head of House Tailier. Fortunately, this has not occurred yet; however, this rigorous private education isolated him and his brother and sister from other children their age. They were only acquainted with one another and with fellow noble offspring, but only to an extent.

He was betrothed to Caroligne Claymore at age 5 and married her when he was 22 and she was seventeen. Four months prior to the beginning of this RP, they welcomed their first child, a boy; they named him Theodore. Currently, Caroligne is nursing Theodore, but she will return to the court once he is weaned. She is, however, known for being a lethal warrior and strives to become a noble commander of Confederate forces.

Throughout his childhood and adolescence, Gaylen was given premier military and combat training by a premier general. As such, he is a fierce warrior and expert tactician unlike WF's user, who fortunately has the Internet. His is known for having an incredible sense of direction. Furthermore, Gaylen has a natural charisma that comes from being surrounded by refined nobles his entire life and is known for being a shrewd politician. He is by nature very reserved and will not resort to violence unless absolutely necessary, though his brother is prone to fits of uncontrollable anger. Yet every man has his fatal flaw: for Gaylen, it is his overly controlling nature. He has been brought up to rule, not be ruled, and this is reflective in his mannerisms and the way in which he interacts with other nobles. He may seem arrogant at times, especially to commoners and foreigners, and is wary of others to the point of borderline paranoia.

Equipment: One longsword; four daggers; chain armor with leather jerkin bearing familial crest; two attendants (leather armor, longswords); a trunk full of clothing, food, and other provisions; medieval stationery; a seal of nobility (kept safely hidden; to be used as necessary); money (can edit if OP)

Coat-of-Arms:

Theme: Hopefully, I will think of something.

Two things:

1.) Is only Western Artwork or Pictures permitted for image claims?

2.) Do you have a Discord account or plan to make a Discord Server?

I want to apply, but I have a question, I wanted to write an app about a man who reads The Good Lord Bird and starts a branch of Christianity that believes that John Brown was the second coming of Christ and sought to purge the world of slavers and sinners for the sake of humanity but died thanks to the sinful slaver, and that his church and him would be a sent to punish the slaver. It might not make a lot of sense but a bunch of evangelical anti-slaver old man and his sons trying to spread the word of the savior Brown, so is it fine if I write this in my character's bio?

Well, slavery isn't really around in the Confederacy. Slavery was banned by Emperor Terence the Pious, and the Northern nations already have serfs. Slavery's rather important in Mexica for sacrifices, and in the Heavenly Empire of Calif, but besides that only the nomads that roam the Great Plains participate in the slave trade.

Well he could be based in Kansas, if you include that in the Great Plains, thanks to Brown's involvement in Bloody Kanas it could be seen as some type of holy land and the church could encounter the slaver nomads which would cause conflict.

Character Application

Name: Rod Martin

Sex: Male

Allegiance: Mercenary Leader with Noble Blood.

Nationality: Neuoryen with mixed Southron Ancestry

Age: 20

Family: After the great disasters which had befallen his mercenary company, only his mother, Lady Rosamundi of the Confederacy, is left among his family. Though her childbearing years have begun to pass, she is still extraordinarily beautiful, and her bloodline and claims to Confederacy territories make her an appealing prospect for suitors.

Appearance:
Image

Bio: There was a great company of Mercenaries called the Dogs of War, which operated under the ancient principle of 'all who can serve are worthy'. Comprised of second sons of the continent's nobility with knightly gear, yeomen from the hills and plains with great longbows, and burghers and guildsmen who held crossbows and pikes, this was an army hired out to the highest bidder, a war-winning force of great renown. Great enough that Ronald's father, Valten Martin, was offered the hand of a noblewoman of no minor rank, Rosamundi of Marielyn, in exchange for helping her father win back his Duchy from an usurping brother. The wedding was celebrated and the Dogs of War promptly won Rosamundi's Father back his place in the Confederate nobility.

Then this Duke, ungrateful to his benefactors, planned to have Valten and his officers murdered in a feast, but Rosamundi, who had genuinely grown infatuated with the dashing and handsome Valten, alerted her husband to her father's plans, and the Dogs of War left Marielyn with what pay and plunder they had already collected - They would have done more if not for the Duke's own contingency plan: Petition the current Emperor for aid in destroying the Dogs of War in exchange for concessions to royal authority. Either way, the Dogs of War returned to Neuoryen, with money, a noble bride and newborn son... And a firm enemy in the Duke of Marielyn.

As he grew up, Rod was raised in the ways of the warrior and scholar, the latter at the insistence of his mother. Taught by tutors from the Akeademy of the Olurid, who instilled in him a knowledge of Anglith and the lore of Gaemes Workshop, he grew in mind and body even as his father partook in the wars among the merchant republics of the Neuangla Region, occassionally participaing in expeditions north into Terreneuve or west to the Kingdom of Cleave. Then, disaster struck as Valten, returning to Neuoryen with the Dogs of War, was ambushed and killed by assassins sent by the Duke of Marielyn, and without their commander and paymaster, the grand majority of the mercenary army dispersed, with only a core of less than a thousand 'loyalists' under Valten's Liutenant, Luthor Gelt, coming back to Rosamundi and Rote with the news.

Furious at this betrayal, Rote and his mother rallied the remnants of their army and vowed to restore the fortunes of the Dogs of War, starting with their participation in the nearest and most profitable conflict, whatever it may be...

(Edit permitted by OP.)

Equipment:

Personal Equipment - A suit of Plate Armor, a Longsword and Shield, a Warhorse, a Lance, a Riding Horse, and a small crossbow which can be used while mounted.

The Dogs of War - A mercenary company composed of 'all who can serve', creating a mix of honorable folk and scum. The Dogs of War accepts fighters, siege engineers, scholars of logistics and accountancy, and even the occassional 'Witch' if their powers are subtle and hidden. The Dogs of War number:

- 100 Heavy Horse.
- 100 Light Horse.
- 200 Pikemen.
- 100 Longbowmen.
- 100 Crossbowmen.
- 50 Zweihander-equipped Swordsmen.
- 1 'Witch', Cassandra the Seeress, who can see brief glimpses of the future (dictated by the GM). Her powers are secret, of course.
- An unknown number of camp followers who perform various services, such as selling food, providing medical care, maintaining equipment, and of course, prostitution. These are not counted amongst the Dogs of War.

Name: Nadia Foscan
Sex: Female
Allegiance: Knight-errant ((For now))
Nationality: Mixed/Dikzai
Age: 27
Family:
Traver VII Foscan, Great Lord of Zainon (Father). Lisabet Landron, Great Lady of Zainon (Mother). Raymond III (Elder Brother). Hugo (Elder Brother, Deceased). Zara (Younger Sister).
Bio:
Nadia was born to the north of the great gorge, in the land where the Dikzai people dwelled. Her father, Traver, was the latest lord in a long line of illustrious rulers to herald over Zainon, her birthplace, and claimed mythical descent. House Foscan had been founded in a union between the first Great Lord Traver and an ocean sprite from the Wester sea. This first ruler of Zainon had himself come from the east, and had waged a great and bloody war with the Nefic folk who had lived in Zainon long before there were any Dikzai calling it home. Following this success, Nadia's legendary ancestor aligned other desert tribes in opposition to far greater Nefic polities to the north, and it was such that a confederation of oasis kingdoms was born under a southwestern sun. It is still within this confederation that Nadia's family reigns.

As a child, Nadia spent her days exploring the painted bluffs, riverbeds, and red rock of her birthplace. The third child and first daughter, she was given vastly more freedom than her older brothers to spend her time as she wished, though all of the Foscan children were given leeway in their younger years. It was said she could ride before she walked, though her father's prized horses were often off-limits to all but him. Horses were an expensive luxury in the desert, and she didn't posses her first till she was 14.
Like all Dikzai noblewomen, Nadia was given the same formal education as her brothers, though she was more inclined to be outdoors, hunting or fishing. The pine forests found higher up in the mountains became a favorite locale, and it was there she spent her free days as a blooming teenager.

Her eldest brother, Raymond, was naturally expected to inherit, and though men and women inherited equally in her father's lordship, she was a solid third-in-line. This meant that Nadia was expected to choose a path that would bring the most benefit to her family. In that, she chose the path of tracker for her father's domain. Though her ancestors had conquered Zainon from the Nefics, they were still under constant thread from the north, and many conflicts had been only narrowly won by using the terrain to their advantage. Here was where Nadia got her first taste of warfare, and in this her archery was prized among the bowmen.
When she wasn't engaged in the military aspects of her homeland, she acted as official guard to the merchants and emissaries of her people. Such missions saw her travel to other realms in the confederation, like Vayhas, Bannerstaff, and Magovai. These missions showed her the precarious position her family found itself in -- wedged between the cayote-raiders of the east, the Nefics in the north, and ultimately the Heavenly Empire of Calif beyond Magovai. Such as standing could at any moment spell doom for the Dikzai people, and even Nadia, now firmly a young adult could detect the danger.

It was in light of this that she convinced her father that her own knighthood lay in protecting the realm. Protection, in Nadia's opinion, meant more powerful allies than the oasis confederates. The lore of her family saw her ancestor rise from the east, and so she and her brother Hugo, set off on a quest to find allies beyond the lands of the cayote-raiders. The next few years saw Nadia travel further than she ever imagined, deep into the plains, seeking to go even beyond. Along the way her and her brother met many strange people, befriended some and fought others. They as knights of Zainon made sure to bring renown to their house through heroics in their journey. It was bitter work, but it went well, it went well for a long time, until Hugo was killed.

Her beloved brother, second-in-line to the seat, was killed by arrowfire on the grassy steppe of the Lonestar one morn. Whether it was bandits or nomads who had shot the bow, she could not say, but what was certain is that after burying Hugo beneath red sky, she was on her own. Despite her grief, she had made it into the east, wiser, tougher, and certainly older. Though she had not seen her family in years, Nadia is determined to accomplish what she set out to do, or at the very least bring glory to the name of her father as a knight of house Foscan.

Character Application

Name: Jineral Albirt Hillingham.

Sex: Male

Allegiance: J'hawcs (Great Plains Nomads)

Nationality: Great Plains Nomads

Age: 27

Family: Koache Ralph Hillingham (Father), Mariessa (Mother, Concubine), and too many brothers and sisters to count.

Appearance:
Image

Bio: Albirt Hillingham was born to one of the slaves of the 'Koache' of the J'hawcs nomads, Ralph Hillingham, and it was his luck that he was strong and healthy enough not to be cast aside. As soon as he can walk, he was taught the arts of war and how to shoot a bow, wrestle and box, and use a sword and knife. He knew how to survive in the tough world of the Great Plains, but there was always so much more he yeared for, not just power - Although he was taught to want it - But uniqueness. He received his first taste of it when he quarreled with a younger brother over a box of apples, and ended up shooting him dead with his bow and arrow - He was rewarded for that by his father, who saw in the young man a precocious ruthelessness when something he wanted was the goal.

Albirt began participating in raids against other tribes at the age of thirteen, and was already a known fighter at sixteen, his aim the envy of many of his brothers and sisters. Said envy turned into betrayal, as on one of the raids against another tribe, the Lac'ers, he was abandoned by four of his siblings and his troops and captured by the enemy tribe, who promptly enslaved him. This gave him a taste of a slave's life, a burning desire to escape, and a faint sense of empathy towards the other slaves with him. Albirt, running on adrenaline and determination, first talked to the slaves taken from other tribes and who knew the basic skills of horsemanship and survival. Then he moved on to the slaves taken from Southron lands, many of whom formed the ill-treated infantry of the La'cers. He insinuated the idea of rebellion and escape into them, making them think it was their own idea, then promptly broke into the tent of the Lac'ers' own Koach when the rebellion started and slit the man's throat with a kitchen knife.

After that, he then fought his way out using the Lac'ers' Koach's own weapons, carrying the man's own head to rally the slaves around himself. Then he slaugthered those of the Lac'ers who refused to flee and subjected the women and children to the same fate he had been given. He was seventeen then. Albirt then told the rebels that they were now free, and those who wanted to go home to the Southrons will receive no enmity from him. However, if they helped him go back to his clan, they would be well-rewarded.

Almost all of them stayed, including Jimm Starlinng, a Southron known for knowing how to read, write, and do sums, and had helped sieze the spare bows and arrows of the Lac'ers. And so Albirt came back to the J'hawcs, a changed man - Still cruel but with nuance.

After returning to his father, Albirt was given vengance over the siblings who abandoned him, and his punishment was to have them torn apart by wild horses and the pieces fed to the dogs. This demonstration of cruelty and ruthlessness was important as once given a larger command by his Koach Ralph along with the rank of Jineral, Albirt had begun to act strange.

He learned how to read, write, and do sums from Jimm, and began to organize the army of 10,000 he had been given not on family and clan, but on divisions of 1, 10, 100, and 1000. And most controversially, he freed his slaves and allowed those who wished to return home to return home, while promoting those who stayed to higher rank. This was met with alarm by many traditionalists in the J'hawcs, but Albirt had proven his strength many times over, and met each sign of opposition with overwhelming force.

Now, he prepares to raid the Confederacy, ready not just to loot, plunder, and slaugther, but build a true Kingdom, as the first 'Big Cheef' in centuries...

Equipment:

Personal - Hardened Leather Armor, a Composite Bow plus Arrows, a Saber, a Warhorse, plus Twelve Spare Horses, and a large Yurt for audiences and habitation.

The Warband - 10,000 men and women under his personal command, numbering:

- 5000 Horse Archers.
- 5000 Infantry.

These are organized according to divisions of 1, 10, 100, and 1000, and overseen by 'Beane Caounters', ex-slaves led by Jimm Starlinng of the Southrons who know how to read, write, and do sums, and most importantly, construct siege weapons. This last part and the personal protection of Albirt (who receives medical services from them), makes them both respected and resented...
