Karpos: Abolishing LGBT restrictions in the military is a step towards achieving ideals

Image

After nearly two decades of concealing their tendencies, homosexuals who serve in the Phoenician military can officially announce their sexual orientation without fear of being laid off. President Karpos considers this step a pride for every Phoenician on the road to achieving the ideals of his country.

The law on preventing homosexuals in the Phoenician military from declaring their sexual orientation came into effect, thus ending the work of what was known as the "do not ask or inform" policy that was followed in the Phoenician military regarding homosexuality. This policy prevented LGBT persons from publicly disclosing their sexual orientation during their service in the Phoenician military. "Starting today, talk of sexual orientation or the legal aspects of homosexual behavior will not be an impediment to joining military service or military academies," said Grand Marshal Julia Aurelia, Phoenician Chancellor of Defence, and appealed to all members of the military "to treat the other with dignity and respect regardless of his or her orientation." Sexual "and warned that harassment or abuse would be" dealt with "through the chain of command.

The law did not allow LGBT persons to serve in the army unless they kept their sexual orientation secret. They face the risk of being expelled from the army under this law if they disclose their sexual orientation.

Concilii passed the law in Legislative Decree No.14/2020 of 23 January, but that requires testimony from the President and the Phoenician Department of Defense that allowing LGBT persons to serve while revealing their sexual orientation will not hinder military readiness and discipline.

Karpos : A Step Toward Pheonisland's Ideal

The elected Phoenician President Tullius Karpos praised the end of the policy that prohibited homosexuals to profess their in-service tendencies and said its formal demise today represented a major step towards the realization of the ideals on which Pheonisland was founded. "Today the discriminatory law known as (do not ask or inform) is finally repealed ... From today patriotic Phoenicians in uniform will no longer have to lie about their identity in order to serve the country they love," Karpos said in a statement issued by the Palace of the Government.

"Our armed forces were a mirror and catalyst of this progress, and our lives, including homosexuals and lesbians, have sacrificed their lives to defend the liberties that we hold dear as Phoenicians," Karpos said. "Today, every Phoenician can be proud that we have taken another big step towards making our army the best in the world and toward achieving the ideals on which our country is founded," the president added.

On 1990, a bill repealing the ban on openly LGBT members of the Armed Forces of Palmyrion was passed in a landslide 395-2-3 vote in the Assembly. Nowadays, the LGBT community can openly serve in Palmyrion's uniformed services, not just the AFP - and many in the LGBT community have since then earned their keep in their lines of service not just for themselves but for the LGBT community as a whole.

One of these LGBT military heroes is (then) First Lieutenant Geraldine Vivo of the Palmyrian Army's Reconnaissance Battalion, 106th Infantry Regimental Combat Team, and a transgender woman. She earned a Purple Heart and a Medal of Valour (Palmyrion's highest of military honours) for her actions in the Turbulent Tens Conflict. At present she is a Captain in the Palmyrian Army, and leads C Company of the said battalion.

Originally Gerald Vivo, she transitioned to female starting from the age of 18; she joined the military almost four years later at the age of 22, on 2014. She attained her rank as first lieutenant two years later, while retaining her billet as a platoon leader of C Company's 1st Platoon. On 2018, she was promoted to the rank of Captain, alongside receiving her Purple Heart and Medal of Valour honours. She married long-time boyfriend and Army Scout Ranger MAJ Jeremy Macaraig on 2019 (who is two weeks her senior), and are currently parents to two adopted children: Valerie May, 9, and Jasper John, 10. She and her husband are still active duty in the military.

Toin permits those of the LGBT+ community to enlist in the military or for them to be drafted when necessary. Given that information, however, there has never been:
• An LGBT+ general officer holding a rank higher than Brigadier General in the Army.
• An LGBT+ general officer holding the rank of Rear Admiral in the Navy.
• An LGBT+ general officer in the Air Force.
• An LGBT+ senior enlisted adviser in the Army or Air Force.

As a general rule of thumb, there is usually at least one LGBT+ person in most of the ranks, but they aren't exactly common. Of all the bases, Joint Base Leopold-McGarry near Whitelaw has the greatest percentage of LGBT+ soldiers and officers at 17%. Most other bases, with a few limited examples, don't have a percentage greater than 2%.

All forms of sexual misconduct, including but not limited to homosexual intercourse, are seen as a disgrace to both TurtleShroom's military and the military's prestige and is not tolerated.

TurtleShroomian law explicitly bans all forms of sex by a soldier outside of heterosexual, reproductive intercourse within the confines of wedlock. A soldier that is exposed as having committed any sort of sodomy, fornication, adultery, or other act of sexual deviancy is immediately and summarily dischared.

For any sex crime, TurtleShroom only enforces this passively, using a strict "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy. A soldier that has homosexual tendancies can serve if no one knows of his bedroom matters, as it should be. In the same way, asoldier that is fornicating will continue to serve unless his actions are uncovered in an investigation or review that does not involve sex.

Conscripts cannot use this as a means to get out of the draft; those found committing sexual sin are reassigned to grueling and unpleasant tasks outside of the front lines, such as peeling potatoes, the heavy manual labor of logistics, or latrine duty.

On an unrelated note, any form of rape or use of sex as either a weapon or a "release" during combat is punished by immediate and summary execution by any and all soldiers in the vicinity upon its reporting to a commanding officer, as soon as it is possible to perform the execution.

Those who are LGBT are permitted to serve in the Thermodolian Military. In 1936 the military was ordered to suspend the ban on LGB people from serving due to World War Two. In 1947 seeing that no issues occurred the federal parliament repealed all laws banning LGB people from serving openly in the military.

Trans people where not allowed to serve in the military until 1996 when a don’t ask don’t tell was adopted. The policy was controversial as it really only offered lip service to the trans community while making it easy for them to be discharged from military service.

The policy was repealed in 2008 allowing for trans people to openly serve.

In Sharifistan homosexuals have been allowed to serve in the military since 1995, they can be any rank. Homophobic harassment, victimisation and violence is, however common in the Sharifistani military. This has been condemned by many military personnel (especially officers) but is still a sufficiently widespread problem that gay men are expect from the draft (though can still volunteer for the military).
Gay soldiers are frequently stereotyped as obseqiuous, effeminate and cowardly whilst gay officers are frequently stereotyped as predatory.

Homosexuals have been allowed to serve the Armed Forces since 2000. They may served at as either officers or enlisted personnel. Since gay marriage was legalised in 2014, gay/homosexual married couples have had the same rights vis a vis married quarters etc. as hetrosexual married couples. According to a review in 2035 it was unusual for a soldier to experience discrimination according to sexual orientation.
Trans-genders are also widely accepted due to changing attitudes and by 2032 transphobia had become taboo.

Same-sex relations are encouraged in the military as a way to build camaraderie. There has never been a prohibition on homosexual military persoonnel and military personnel are often posted to the same regiment as their gay or lesbian lover(s).
Trans-gender personnel are, however, oppressed due to trans-genders not being part of Hellenic (Ancient Greek) culture and openly trans-gender people may not serve in the military.

Trans-genders are allowed to serve in the military following the precedent of trans-gender palace guards and rulings from Islamic scholars saying being transgender is allowed in Islam. In terms of homosexual military personnel, it is more ambiguous, laws requiring "high moral character" from offiicers are often used to exclude homosexuals from command and the Army crackdown on male-on-male sexual abuse (especially of childtren) has previously been used as an excuse to falsely accuse or harrass homosexuals.

They have been allowed to join the military since The Socialist Scottish Federations start. They of course, aren't given high positions for simply being homosexual. They have to work their way up like all other members of the military, Homosexuality is fully permitted inside of the Socialist Scottish Federation, So I don't see why they wouldn't be permitted in The Blue Army.

LGBT people have officially been allowed to serve openly in the National Military of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor since 1991, when the military abandoned its long-standing (but seldom enforced) ban on openly LGBT servicemembers following a lawsuit filed in 1990 claiming that the ban was in violation of our nation's laws prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, which date back to 1967.

While abandonment of the ban was originally thought of only applying to allowing people to serve in our nation's armed forces, regardless of their sexual orientation, another lawsuit filed in 1996 (three years after our nation banned discrimination on the basis of gender identity) confirmed that the abandonment of the ban also applied to transgender people as well, affirming their right to serve in the armed forces too.

LGBT people are allowed to serve at both the provincial and general level armed forces of the NAU without fear of discharge because of who they are.

There has been official policy against LGBT service members since the 1940s with MOD regulations against it but those were amended with a "don't ask, don't tell" policy in 1992, and then full repeal in 2000, letting LGBT service members be open about themselves.
