Please assume YES for all answers in the Permission Box – just TG me first if it's particularly insane and/or egregious.

JJP's tactical mastermind, he's being groomed as a future national team boss.

Goalkeeping Coach – Marcus WASHINGTON, Age 45
Defensive Coach – Robert FIELDS, Age 46

Physiotherapist – Stephen WILLIS, Age 37

THE SQUAD

Goalkeepers

Image
Damien CARPENTER
Age: 30
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Mercia Bromham

Steely blue eyes and a blonde ponytail swishing in the wind – Carpenter is the poster boy for the Goalkeeper's Union in more ways than one. Tends to punch crosses rather than go for the clean catch, which has made him unpopular in some circles.

Image
Serge DUPRÉE
Age: 25
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Bromham City

Young agile custodian who was pretty much the only reason the Westies managed a second season. Now working more miracles in the Mercian capital.

Image
Robert WILSON
Age: 20
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Notegia Rangers

Impressed in the Under-18 World Cup, which earned him a place as Rangers' number one.

Defenders

Image
James AITKEN
Age: 28
Position: Right/Centre-back
Club: Ashton Olympic

Practiacally a midfielder in terms of pressing. Loves to work the overlaps.

Image
Ross GREEN
CAPTAIN
Age: 28
Position: Centre-back
Club: Leston Town

Tall and rangy, but can shift his weight when needed. Bags of pace and a good read of the game.

Image
Joey SINTON
Age: 21
Position: Left/Centre-back
Club: Ashton Olympic

Learning his trade well alongside Aitken. Excellent reader of the game.

Image
Ross OKANO
Age: 21
Position: Left/Centre-back
Club: Oustia

Young all-rounder helped guide Oustia to their first season in the big leagues.

Image
Rodolfo MARQUEZ
Age: 27
Position: Right/Centre-back
Club: Avidia United

Speedy and smart in the tackle; can be hesitant to go forward when the Dragons have the ball.

Image
Eddie BULL
Age: 21
Position: Left/Centre-back
Club: Stanton Town

Prodigious young talent; Paul Davis saw enough in him to put him straight in the U21s, and from there to the senior squad.

Midfielders

Image
Joshua KELNIC
Age: 28
Position: Right midfield
Club: Avidia United

Accurate crosser of the ball and good with it at his feet. Not the fastest.

Image
Oliver ALEXANDER
Age: 29
Position: Left midfield
Club: Notegia Rangers

Cultured winger with a fierce cross.

Image
Samuel JOHANSSEN
Age: 26
Position: Central midfield
Club: Bradwell Saints

Tenacious midfielder, full of running. Better at short than long passes.

Image
Cormac O'NEILL
VICE-CAPTAIN
Age: 26
Position: Central midfield
Club: Stanton Town

Took over from Murray Schwarzkopf at the Dockers. Silky ball player and workhorse midfield general all in one.

Image
Daniel MOULIER
Age: 24
Position: Central midfield
Club: Emberton Reds

Intelligence beyond his years. Quick passer of the ball.

Image
Ben FOYLE
Age: 22
Position: Right midfield
Club: Mercia Bromham

Speedy winger, accurate in the cross.

Image
Darren HARRISON
Age: 22
Position: Central midfield
Club: Ousevale Borough

Intelligent ball-player starting to get his chance at the Tigers. Formed in the mould of Ousevale CMs gone by.

Image
Joe BIELSA
Age: 24
Position: Left midfield
Club: Royal Emberton

Carves his way down the channels, loves a cross from the by-line.

Forwards

Image
Apollo PETERS
Age: 21
Position: Forward
Club: Avidia United

The Eagles often produce prodigious strikers, and Peters is no exception. Speedy and clinical.

Image
Alun BELMWR
Age: 18
Position: Forward
Club: New Cefn Albion

English may not be his first language - in fact, it's his third, behind Welsh and goals. Prodigious young talent, oddly spelt but familiar name.

Image
Neil SMITH
Age: 24
Position: Forward
Club: Stanton Town

This young lad is built like the proverbial outhouse, but is surprisingly quick on his toes. Right foot could open a jar of pickle.

Image
Andrew CARSETTI
Age: 20
Position: Forward
Club: Beckton Supermarine

Promising striker with a keen eye for goal.

Image
Curtis SUNDAY
Age: 23
Position: Forward
Club: Bromham City

Banging them in for Bromham's other team. Nicknamed "Weekend Warrior" for obvious reasons.

Image
Alex PARSONS
Age: 25
Position: Forward
Club: Notegia Rangers

Pace makes him difficult to track; has a lethal left peg. Only 5'7” though, so unlikely to win too many headers.

LIKELY STARTERS – Formation: 3-4-3 “System Garcia”

Busoga Islands National Team

Information
Country code: BUS
Denonym: Busogans/Busoga Islanders/Islanders(Busoga Islanders is the formal term; many Banijans call them Busogans, while locals refer to themselves simply as Islanders, which will be the terminology used by the journalists of this country)
Association: Busoga Islander Soccer Association(BISA)
Manager: Bethany O'Donnell, 66, female, native of Brenecia. A very down-to-earth manager who drills humility and discipline into her players, making sure they do the hard yards and don't get carried away with their status. That lead to turning Pikemouth into one of the larger second-tier sides into a consistent UICA challenger. Unfortunately, she lost her way somewhat at Northern Union. With the SRS, she consistently lived up to expectations for four years, but rarely exceeded them. She was let go in her fifth year after a poor start to WC84 qualifying, but a third place finish at IAC8 the year before remains a feather in her cap. She began in AOCAF LX with this squad- and while they regressed in World Cup 85 Qualifying, they look forward to improving in the Cup of Harmony.
Senior Assistant Manager: Xavier Mosobo. 44 years old, male, native of Banija.
Captain: Hibbaan al-Shareef
Alternate Captain: Mohan Thakshak.
Home Kits: Red
Away Kits: Black
Alternate: White

Notes:

Lakiska City Field
Image

The stadium is located in the nation's capitol, and the largest city on the South Island of Lakiska. It has a capacity of 31,000, and is host to Lakiska Sporting Club, the only team from the Busoga Islands in the Banijan Soccer League.

Orange Field
Image

The stadium is located in the country's largest city, Dukuma, and is on the North Island. it has a capacity of 17,000, and it is host to Dukuma Sporting Club, who competes in the Banijan Northwestern League, one of four regional leagues in the second tier of the Banijan/Busogan pyramid, and who are the reigning champions of the RBSA Cup.

Dukuma Oval
Image
Capacity of 63,000, located in Dukuma, North Island

This is primarily a cricket stadium. It is also located in Dukuma, on the North Island. It is most famous for being the host of the World Twenty20 X Final. However, it will be converted for use for football during World Cup Qualifying, to host exactly one game, due to its significantly superior capacity in comparison to any other stadium on the North Island. It will host the Squornshelous Remnant States match due to both their status as a serious competitor for one of the group's two qualifying spots, and the intrigue of hosting their manager's previous squad.

Lakiska City Cricket Park
Image
Capacity of 54,000, located in Lakiska, South Island

This park is also primarily a cricket ground. This is in the nation's capitol, Lakiska, on the South Island. The stadium has hosted exactly two World Cup Qualifiers, hosting a game against Vilita in World Cup 83 Qualifying, and a game against Chromatika in World Cup 84 Qualifying. Thanks to its superior capacity, it will be used for a pair of designated 'big games' in the second half of Qualifying, as BISA look to increase their home field advantage during the stretch run.

CM - Kimon Karalas - 7 - Sitia - Image
ST - Chirstoforos Lazelis - 11 - FC Limassol - Image

Lineup 1:

Markos Moustakakos - We start with the first team goalkeeper who is technically also a player manager. Markos is a fantastic shot stopper who can command his players very well, as shown in the Sporting World Cup and Campionato Esportiva, where the Vdaran Under-18s won the former and reached the quarter-finals of the latter, all with Markos in charge.

Tryfon Vlahiades - A wondrous wing back who always puts 100% effort into every match, Vlahiades has shown his greatness internationally, with his pace being used to get to wide areas further down the pitch. The 27-year-old is a skilful crosser and free-kick taker, and is usually the penalty-kick taker. The wing back scored 4 goals in the WC85 qualifiers, earning him a move to 1830 Cathair in Audioslavia, where he’s shown his worth as a great full-back. Following the retirement of Mathaios Pardakis, he took on the captain’s armband.

Nestoras Galanatos - Mathaios Pardakis’ retirement at the age of 41 paved the way for Nestoras Galanatos to enter the squad, and he’s certainly going to try and prove himself. Having come on as a substitute a couple of times during the previous cycle, he made 13 appearances - and only 2 of those had him in the starting lineup. He scored one goal in those 13 games, and it was a stunner.

Valentinos Giannakos - Giannakos is not the most well-known player in the squad, but he is certainly a fantastic defender. At 26, Giannakos still has plenty time left in his career to grow and develop, hence why you may hear more about him in future World Cups. He gave away a penalty against Xanneria in a 4-3 loss in the last cycle and gained a red card for it, so you may see less of him as more talented players rise through the ranks.

David Xeniadis - A decent defender who was the youngest player in the National Team at WC84, Xeniadis - who is now 22 - has certainly solidified as a defender since he gained his first international cap as an 18 year old.

Manousos Athanas - A fantastic wing back with more pace than sense, Athanas has been known to race past opposition midfielders and defenders with a smirk on his face and his few brain cells rattling about in his head. Now 27, Athanas is yet to peak, with his pace seemingly increasing each year.

Kimon Karalas - A midfield maestro who is great at crosses and corners, Karalas is a player who could impress many at this World Cup. His ability to pass the ball is one that has bamboozled many opposition players before, and the 25-year-old has been known to perform skill moves such as the rainbow flick and McGeady spin relatively often, which is odd for a central midfielder. Goals aren’t uncommon for this lad either, as he bagged 4 in 29 appearances during the last cycle.

Vangelis Mavroglou - A central defensive midfielder, who takes the ‘defensive’ part of his position very seriously, Mavroglou has been a centrepiece in the Vdaran midfield. The 28-year-old isn’t exactly fast, but he makes up for it with his incredible bursts of adrenalin which only seem to pop up when it seems destined that the opposition are going to score.

Anargyros Stamatelis - Not much is known about this midfielder, but he is quite good. Performing decently at the last World Cup, the 27-year-old has shown critics that he is more than just an average midfielder, at least by Vdaran standards. A decent crosser, Stamatelis usually sits back in the midfield when people go forward, and he’s wary of counter attacks.

Chirstoforos Lazelis - A young, quick striker who can zoom past defenders faster than every other player in this squad, Lazelis rose through the Vdaran football pyramid straight from the Gamma League to the Alpha League following the 22-year-old’s incredible performances in the 4th tier. With an incredible 35 goals in 29 games for Vdara in the WC85 qualifiers and the last Cup of Harmony, Lazelis is ready to impress yet again.

Nik Cosmidis - Young, and scores goals. Not the most interesting of players, but he does play in Taeshan, so the 17-year-old does have that going for him.

Alexis Fotellis - Most famous for his ongoing feud which had both of his boots ending up in the face of Nate Ellis of Hapilopper, this striker is better at shooting than he is running, being more used to receiving crosses and passes while he’s inside the box. Now 38, Fotellis may not have much longer to play in the National Team, with younger players - such as Nik Cosmidis and Andrianos Petras - rising through the ranks. He scored 10 goals in the WC85 Qualifiers, second only to Chirstoforos Lazelis.

Lineup 2:

Zaharias Frangoglou - A product of the national team’s recent dive into forming their own academy rather than snatching their players from established sides, 16-year-old Zaharias has impressed many with his reflexes and diving ability, and at 6’4” he towers over most of his teammates. In the last Sporting World Cup, Frangoglou saved two penalties in the final which gave Vdara their first ever trophy - even if it was just a youth tournament.

Anargyros Zerveas - Following Vdara’s disappointing last place finish in Sporting World Cup 10, Anargyros earned himself a move to Taeshan in an attempt to prove that he was in fact still a solid player with great potential. The move boosted his confidence and helped him grow as a player, and at 18 he ended up being an integral part of the Vdaran defence during Sporting World Cup 11.

Trifonas Tolakis - Cool names are an oddly effective way of making your way into one of the national team, and Trifonas Tolakis has managed to capitalise on that opportunity fully. Another product of the national team’s academy, the youth scouts predict that he’ll go far, and that commentators will enjoy saying this 16-year-old’s name out loud.

Stamatios Christakos - How many academy graduates can you have in one squad? The answer is six, and Stamatios is the third one in this list. This lad has never skipped leg day, and could probably crush a watermelon with his thighs - if he could be bothered. The 17-year-old’s sheer strength allows him to make great tackles and clearances, all while striking fear into more scrawny opponents.

Akakios Demotis - Here’s another player who moved to Taeshan after a disastrous performance in SWC 10. Amazingly, his move to Taeshan at 16 helped him a lot, and at 18 he was an integral part of the midfield duo which dominated games at times during SWC11.

Lambros Tantalopoulos - What do you know, it’s academy graduate number four, and the second of the midfield duo! As the name implies, Lambros is quite pacey, which is quite odd for a central-defensive midfielder. However, this helps him be a deadly force in counter attacks, and he also helps maintain the 2-man midfield with Akakios Demotis. After an amazing performance in the Sporting World Cup in which he scored a hat trick against Megistos to send Vdara to the finals, at 16 years old he earned himself a move to the Walstreim Lions in South Newlandia for an academy-record $350,000!

Alkiviadis Manolakis - A fantastic performance in the last Sporting World Cup from this 18-year-old has showed that Manolakis has the potential to break into the senior team. He’s got pace and passing ability, which he used to his and the squad’s advantage during the team’s trophy-winning performances.

Themistoklis Muleas - Not the most standout player in the squad, but definitely not a bad one. He is overshadowed by most of the other attackers - and other players in the squad - but the 18-year-old is still definitely one to watch during this tournament.

Andrianos Petras - Following the advancement of Nik Cosmidis to the first team, Petras was called up from the Academy to replace him. This worked amazingly well, as the 16-year-old scored goal after goal after goal during Vdara’s SWC 11 adventure. Keep your eyes on this one!

Mathaios Makrotsis - The last academy graduate of this lineup, Makrotsis will be looking to perfect his abilities in this tournament. At the very young age of 15, Makrotsis has plenty time to perfect his abilities at his new club in Quebec - and he has a winners’ medal from the last SWC.

Manousos Scafididis - Last but not least, we have Manousos Scafididis. Yet another remnant of the Sporting World Cup 10 squad, Manousos has been looking to improve ever since. Amazingly, he has, and his pace and agility have only gotten better with time. He showed this in Sporting World Cup 11, where he whipped in cross after cross, and used his skills and quick feet to score quite a few goals, all at the age of 18.

Twicetagrien Premier League: The Real Boomers
by Antonov Vasilyev

As the saying goes, an old friend is a true friend. Well, we're definitely friends with the teams we're featuring today. These teams are undoubtedly the oldest teams in Twicetagria with one of the, stretching as far back as before the Equestrian Revolution. KFK Strayquestria and Srednevekovi, please rise up.

KFK Strayquestria
Image
What's the narrative in 20 words?
A mediocre season for Strayquestria landed them 11th place, which was a mighty cry from 6th a few seasons ago.

How did last season go for them?
Strayquestria had a relatively quiet season, with the spotlight going towards the likes of Imperial, Black Swan and Arsenal. They'll be looking towards a higher mid-table finish.

Got any interesting stats from last season?
Strayquestria conceded the least goals in the league apart from the top 3, with an average 0.76 goals conceded per game.

Any transfer news?
Strayquestria hasn't done much transfer-wise, but since their best players are back from injury why would they need anybody else?
In: NIL
Out: Pietara(loan)

Fun fact about the manager?
Jan Kevin Beck is the father of aspiring motor sports racer Tania Beck, whose's gone to win 9 out of 12 races. In your face, Carmichael.

Where will they hope to finish?
Despite arguably a more balanced side, they don't look like the surprise package, although we'll probably see them move up the table.

Our Verdict: 10th

Srednevekovi FK
Image

What's the narrative in 20 words?
The Medievals have risen from their aged ashes, achieving promotion and just losing the league to ideological rivals Krasni Kvadrat.

How did last season go for them?
A very talented side inspired Srednevekovi to a second place finish in League 1, losing out to the champions by a mere 4 goals (for).

Got any interesting stats from last season?
Their main striker, Kandey Roshiovey, has scored more than 3/4 of Srednevekovi's side, a wonderful achievement for a 35-year-old. Oh, and he'll be retiring this year.

Any transfer news?
The only thing Srednevekovi is sell their more obscure players, without buying a goalkeeper that they desperately need because their current one is very leaky.
In: NIL
Out: Chamouz, Riyetov, Nazakhin, Hasher

Fun fact about the manager?
Raze Ciuminov is the oldest manager, with a ripe age of 76.

Where will they hope to finish?
Seeing the magic Ciuminov and Srednevekovi can inspire and scare their opponents, they're less likely to be relegation candidates.

Our Verdict: 13th

Barunia Suns
Cup of Harmony 78 Squad

The Suns came into World Cup 86 with a new sense of vigour and hope. Poor team dynamics, off-field dramas, and association politics had derailed the lead up to World Cup 85, but the team, under new coach Rafael Barrios, had performed as expected. The team managed to only come 5th in what was a tough group, but a Cup of Harmony invite is a success for the team. As expected, the squad remains unchanged from the World Cup, who have been widely praised in the Barunian media.. Renowned commentator David Scott has said that "this looks and feels like a team from the glory days of Barunian Football." Those glory days included two finals appearances in the Cup of Harmony, and the team will be looking for a third, albeit with the hope of a different outcome.

Cup of Harmony Seventy-Eight
Zeta Reka and Hügeltaldom.
Two small oblasts. One large dream?
Roster (starters in bold)
Goalkeepers
12: Zlatko Wukowić — 24 — 185.25cm/6'1" — Lonngeylin City (Vilita)
01: Bosko Nowak — 39 — 194.75cm/6'4.625" — DD Porto Nowi
27: Klaudio Rekawić — 28 — 185.25cm/6'1" — Aleiusia Riverside

Zlatko Wukowić will start after a rocky qualifying campaign and will look to show himself as competent, though with his age there are plenty of chances to play in the future. Time is not on Bosko Nowak’s side, but he can back up Wukowić in a pinch. Klaudio Rekawić will probably not see any playing time outside of a rouge carding or injury, but that’s normal for the third choice.

Defenders
04: Janko Yakowić — Left center — 30 — 193cm/6'4" — Aleiusia Capital
37: Zaur-Luka Igorić — Left center/Left Wing — 20 — 177cm/5'9.75" — Ogroven Vanguardi FK
26: Wlad Wlad — Pure center — 24 — 192.5cm/6'3.875" — Ogroven Vanguardi FK
14: Jan Thimig — Pure center — 29 — 203cm/6'7.875" — Ogroven Vanguardi FK
03: Bartolomej Wladmirowić (c) — Versatile — 30 — 171.33cm/5'7.5" — KT Morezura (Audioslavia)
13: Wladmir Bogdanić — Right/pure center — 29 — 185.66/6'1.125" — VZRH Matov-Uri

The biggest change to the team from qualifying is the institution of a three center back system. Most of the parts in this system are players who Rekan fans would be familiar with. Bartolomej Wladmirowić, the teams most capped player, is tournament captain for reasons one can figure out shortly. Wlad Wlad is looking to be the shot stopping ace of the trio, but will need to keep his temper in check. Janko Yakowić was hoping to see his twin brother play, but Janko alone will need to keep the Yakowić name alive in the Cup of Harmony.

Backup Jan Thimig still towers over would be opponents, and would be a pick to duel with other tall players. Wladmir Bogdanić is the player on this squad with the most experience in a three man defense, qualifying for IFCF play at his club. Zaur-Luka Igorić is the youngest player on the team, and showed great attacking skill in World Cup qualifying. He will play on the wings.

Midfielders
06: Mullow Dorboslawić — Defensive — 30 — 174.66cm/5'8.75" — DD Porto Nowi
17: Stani Gröss — Defensive — 25 — 174cm/5'8.5" — 1830 Cathair FC (Audioslavia)
40: Stanimir Rekawić — Center — 21 — 174cm/5'8.5" — KT Ferramendiak (Audioslavia)
11: Želmir Kolarowić — Center/Attacking — 29 — 190cm/6'2.75" — Kven FK

10: Rybki — Center — 37 — 176.25cm/5'9.625" — DD Porto Nowi
47: Tomislaw Radowić — Center/Attacking — 20 — 180.5cm/5'11" — FK Bergsteiger
07: Jad — Left Wing/Right Wing — 27 — 184cm/6'0.5" — Aleiusia Capital
08: Miloš Simeoniwić — Right Wing/Left Wing — 27 — 178cm/5'10.125” — Kven FK
18: Albertow Nowak — Right Wing/Left Wing — 25 — 175cm/5'8.875" — Brisara City (Chromatika)

Stanimir Rekawić from KT Ferramendiak is an unexpected choice for the central midfield role, replacing captain Rybki, who showed a weathered body throughout the World Cup qualifying campaign. He will play inbetween the other central players. Ahead of Rekawić will be the proven assist maker Želmir Kolarowić, with alternate Tomislaw Radowić seeming to make up numbers.

While Dorboslawić is marked as a starter, Gröss is expected to pull equal time in the tournament. Backup wing men Heiden and Nowak may have some issues adjusting to playing backwards, and so the nuance of both Jad and Miloš Simeoniwić will be put into question. It’s possible that in a pinch a few defenders like Igorić or Wladmirowić could get some time along the wings, but since the team is playing things by ear nobody knows for sure.

Forwards
09: Bogdan Rawić — Striker — 22 — 166.25cm/5'5.375" — Aleiusia Capital
25: Valdi Di — Shadow Striker/Right Wing — 28 — 191.33cm/6'3.375" — DD Porto Nowi

29: Arnald Gal — Striker — 21 — 177.5cm/5'9.875" — DD Porto Nowi
19: Stojan Heiden — Striker/Left Wing — 25 — 162.75cm/5'4.125" — AK Stanimir
33: Horst Rühl — Striker/Shadow Striker — 22 — 179.66cm/5'10.625" — Coolville United (Baker Park)
The Rekan team will be employing two men up front for the first time as a unit. This change comes from a desire to take advantage of extra scoring opportunities. Bogdan Rawić will continue to lead up front as he is seemingly the thoroughbred of Zeta Reka’s football system. Playing along side him will be a taller Vladi Di. Di was a quiet player for the national team and exudes confidence.

Arnald Gal was a quite adept scorer in qualifying and remains a backup due to his play still being unseasoned. Stojan Heiden has been moved to the front as he would be too small for a role as a rough and tumble wing back. Horst Rühl has been a quiet player for the national team, and is looking to establish his brand of “Stud Football” around he world.
Standard XI
Wukowić - Yakowić, Wlad Wlad, Wladmirowić- Jad, Rekawić, Dorboslawić/Gröss*, Kolarowić, A. Nowak - Rawić, Di

*near equal odds of being picked according to the experts and could play in a double pivot by removing a forward.
"Fun" Trivia
-The Rekan starting XI has an average age of 26.54 years young.
-Zeta Reka is the most common name for the country, despite it being a federation between two states.
-"Zeta Rekan" is an often repeated denonym to describe the country's ethnic or racial minorites. Slavic people attempt to monopolize the nation's offical denoym of "Rekan." Many people in minority groups refer to themselves as Rekans, and view Zeta Rekan as a slur. The longer term has fallen out of offcial use by the government under it's current presidency.
-The most popular sport in Zeta Reka is an outdoor game similar to Baseball and Rugby Football.
-Even after large scale privatization, the federal government is still a major player in the national fire insurance industry.
-Around one hundred teams every year are elligable to win the national championship in Football.

Cup of Harmony 78
TEQUILO NATIONAL TEAM
Attacking Modifier: +3.3

The national team headed into it’s second World Cup campaign having established itself in world football as a creditable opponent who will give anyone, except Cheergirls, a good game on their day. With semi-final appearances in both the Baptism of Fire and the last Independent Associations Cup, as well as reaching the knockout phase of the last Cup of Harmony, Tequilo set themselves a high bar and pushed on this cycle to challenge for a place in the World Cup proper; a final matchday defeat at 95X was a heartbreaker that left the team in third place - a draw would have been enough to secure a World Cup play-off berth. But the progress was significant, and Los Pitxileros will hope for another good showing in Sylestone & Ethane.

.
In the sprawling, continent-spanning country of Tequilo - more formally the Allied States of Tequilo or PAT, Patrias Aliadas de Tequilo - football was traditionally a matter for the regional sports authorities. So large and geographically interesting is Tequilo, that it once was formed of nine nations - six Latinique former colonies of the Costelloan Empire and three Indigo city-state empires - who clubbed together as jolly good friends and neighbours to gang up on their dreadfully superior and bossy neighbour to the north, a place they prefer to call Horizonte Oscuro. Anyway that is a history lesson for another cutoff, but in terms of football - or Pitxi in the local dialect - like most things it remained governed on a local basis by the nine football associations. But recently, in an effort to improve the quality of the pitxi on offer (and not at all to make more money, nonono) the nine associations formed one national association, the Unión de Pitxi de Tequilo; and the UPT has formed a national play-off system to decide it's country's annual champion. The authorities also organised the first ever national youth tournament, the Liga-J under-19 league, won by Argón Tacranza.

Ambitiously, it also entered the new national team - which had never existed in all the time pitxi was played across the PAT - into the recent World Cup cycle. Inexperienced in such matters, the UPT has appointed foreign type Dik ten Beuenk, 88, as Team Director. Ten Beuenk oversaw the entry of the tiny Principality of Mustardy into the last World Cup, where an unremarkable campaign exploded into life with an away victory in South Covello, one of the modern giants of the game. That, and the fact that the Red Herrings were not thrashed pillar-to-post through qualifying, won the UPT over when looking for an experienced head to guide this inexperienced nation through a World Cup campaign. Under ten Beuenk and coaches Mauricio Nores for the Baptism of Fire and Isaac Martí for the rest of the cycle, the agave-blues impressed with a BoF third-placed bronze medal, a good showing in World Cup qualifying to finish fourth of 13 in the group, and reaching the knockout stages of the Cup of Harmony.

Phase One of Dik ten Beuenk’s Modernisation Master Plan, Section Two, Sub-Section Six [Create National Junior Teams for Pathways to The Senior National Team] paragraphs two [Players] and three [Staff] is well under way, with the Under-18 team impressing in the Commonwealth of Baker Park to bag a third placed finish and a bronze medal at the Under-18 World Championship. The UPT - that’s the TeqFA to you and me - named an under-23 representative team for the team’s impressive debut in the Independent Associations Championship, a blend of under-18s, and some of the under-21s that exited on penalties in the first round of the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy in Sarzonia. The Under-23 management team of Luka Entenza and Haize Apeiztegui oversaw a national team record six consecutive victories on the way to the semi-finals, and a fourth-placed finish. Subsequent to the impressive showing, the team was upgraded to full senior status and the players given national team caps instead of fancy certificates.

CUP OF HARMONY 78

Head Coach: Isaac Martí, 57, head coach of the national team and former coach at Motozintla FC. Also director of the junior teams; the under-23 and under-18s.
Team Director: Dik ten Beuenk, 91, Mustardo advisor (allegedly, debates rage about his true identity), a professor in a tracksuit.
Assistant Head Coach: Luka Entenza, 49, former coach at Argón Tacranza. Intense sort of fellow. Also head coach of the Under-23 development squad.
Coach: Juan Manuel Botín, 37, recently retired player for Motozintla, learning his trade with Isaac and Luka, apparently destined for moderately good things. Coaches the under-18 national team.
Coach: Terenzio Ramon, 44, much-admired coach at national champions Pitxi-Pitxi 77, enjoying his secondment to the national set-up.
Player-Coach: Haize Apeiztegui, 34, a professor of the game and brilliant defender coming to the last of his playing days at Unuiĝinta, still playing for the national team as a supporter’s favourite, Tequilo’s most-capped player.
Coach:Callañuapa, 37, quiet and confident defensive midfielder at Equipo Caimán, recently retired from the national team as a supporter’s favourite and returning in a tracksuit as part of his apprenticeship in coaching.
Team Captain: Mateo Tafalla, 33, possibly the best midfielder in Tequilo; part of the Motozintla leadership dynasty that has influenced the national team since it’s inception for World Cup 85 under Moto’s manager Mauricio Nores and former coaches Isaac Martí and Juan Manuel Botín.
Vice Captain: Vilca Hualla, AML, 23; the Índigo Huayna winger, who lost his seat in coach Martí's starting XI to Xaime Medal, bounced back magnificently when Medal looked overwhelmed in World Cup qualifying to remind the coach why he has been so highly rated since the Baptism of Fire days. Appointed captain of the Indigo this season, his leadership qualities are shining through and one good tournament might win him the official national team armband when Mateo Tafalla retires.

TOURNAMENT SQUAD
PLAYING STAFF

Coach Isaac Martí names a largely familiar squad for the Cup of Harmony tournament with only Xaime Medal dropped from the first XI. Tlacolotl will again lead the forward line and really has become the talisman of the team now following his player-of-the-cycle award in the Tequiloan press for his faultless World Cup qualifying campaign. Leyton, enjoying his first call-up, never failed to impress and rewarded his coach richly for his faith in the Índigo winger.

The team retains a strong core of players returning with experience from the last World Cup cycle, led by the official and unofficial team captains in Mateo Tafalla, Haize Apeiztegui and Huracan, as well as Vilca Hualla, back in favour and appointed vice captain. Highly rated right the way back to the Baptism of Fire, injury troubles had set him back but he appears to have put those woes behind him and will look to press on and potentially win the captaincy for the next cycle. There is no place in the tournament for Xaime Medal, who failed to impress in World Cup qualifying, and he'll be watching progress from his home in Audioslavia - coach Martí is keen to point out this isn't the end for the impressive young winger, but he needs more league experience before he gets back near the national team.

Strikers Ito and Roxelio Toran are both selected from the extended squad that competed for places in the qualifying campaign; fans favourite Roxelio seemed to have lost his shine over recent competitions but a fantastic domestic season propelling Ciupa Azul to the Liga-TQ Primera means he has played his way back into the national team manager's thinking, while Ito will get more tournament experience after his impressive turn out in the IAC alongside Ecuador.

Following the marvellous title-winning season for Florentino, there are first time call-ups for two of their stars this season - stylish defender Antton Machinena has been knocking on the door for some time and finally gets his opportunity, while young winger Esâ Neá, who replaced Xaime Medal on the left wing at Las Violetas, now replaces him in the national team squad. Eagle-eyed spotters may notice this is the same youngster who appeared in the Under-18 World Championship with some credit, under a different name. The young Uiaiey indigenous tribal member was then going by his tribal name Ssrtskauouoi; PR agents seem to have convinced him that his familiar name Esâ Neá will work better for his endorsement contracts.

Ex-pats did not fare so well this time around, with only Nufro de Urueña making the cut after Xaime Medal and Farfadillis-based duo Raul Hoyo & Horazio Buriain were dropped from the squad that was named for the World Cup. There is also no place yet for Martí Calderon, like Xaime based in Audioslavia and having a fun time at Bombarralense - there was a feeling he might get the call up this time, but no. Nufro does well to keep his place; much derided in Farfadillis for being a poor pitxi player at Lâ Lüs, but recognised there as perhaps the luckiest footballer in the multiverse when it comes to goalscoring opportunities - he can be a spectator for 90+ minutes and still hit a hattrick by accident, often straight off his elbow (VAR notwithstanding), hip, knee, or face. That kind of bizarre and persistent luck is hard to ignore and he could well be the man to call on when things are going badly and you need a talisman blessed by all the patron wights of pitxi.

Five major players have announced this will be their last tournament for the Agave-Blues, somewhat marking the end of an era - Patrick Zambo, Haize Apeiztegui, Chicchan, Urlegi Gorostola and captain Mateo Tafalla will all hang up their national team boots after this tournament, although all of them intend to carry on in the domestic league for a while yet. Haize will remain on the coaching team, continuing to serve his apprenticeship with both the senior national team and as assistant head coach to the under-23s, who are likely to become a national-B team in future strategies.

TEAM GUIDE
FIRST ELEVEN

Image
LOS PITXILEROS FIRST XI

Image
1. Oscar Bienvenida
GK | Motozintla | Age 20 | 44 caps, 12 clean sheets
The rise and rise of baby goalkeeper Oscar Bienvenida, who had barely been heard of outside of his nursery club Tumuloa Xico but today stands on the brink of international stardom thanks to his cat-like exploits for the new national team in the last two world cup cycles. Getting a dream move from Tumuloa to domestic big-shots Motozintla, who are good at spotting a great young talent, he has been concentrating on a bulking-up diet and although still something of a streak of pipí, he has strengthened up considerably and more than holds his own in the box. Not only can he stand up to overbearing forwards, he also marshalls his box confidently and has all the ingredients to become a natural captain for club and country. Was the only ever-present in the last qualifying cycle. Could beat Haize Apeiztegui's record for consecutive appearances for the national team (23) in this tournament - currently he has 18 in a row.

Image
2. Patrick Zambo
DL | Resplendiente | Age 33 | 43 caps, 4 goals
A marauding full back, Patrick plays his final tournament for the national team before bowing out to concentrate on his domestic duties. A reliable and intelligent fullback, was an obvious first choice for coach Mauricio Nores for the first ever unified Tequilo national team at the Baptism of Fire where he chipped in with four goals in ten games from the back. From there he has retained his place through two cycles of the World Cup and into this tournament as the first choice for the left side of a stable and experienced back line. A tall and strong defender, he has a good turn of pace, doesn't mind getting forward a bit to link up with attacking wingers, and is comfortable on the ball. He can tackle too and has strong positional sense, with no real weakness to exploit in his play.

Image
3. Haize Apeiztegui
DC | Unuiĝinta | Age 34 | 54 caps, 5 goals
Holding the record for the most consecutive internationals for Tequilo (23) and presently the most capped player in the early days of national football, Haize Apeiztegui rose in the public estimation from ‘decent defender’ at Unuiĝinta in Puezan, to ‘most admired’ national hero, within the space of one world cup cycle, and is now an absolute fixture - until the end of this tournament when he bows out. Having spent his whole career at Los Rojos where he has won an impressive four state titles, Haize is certainly enjoying widening his horizons as a veteran and leader in the national team, and seems to have a new spring in his step. Outstanding in both the Baptism of Fire and two World Cup qualifying campaigns, he won Tequilo’s player of the tournament in Cup of Harmony 77 and will be greatly missed after this tournament - a fearsome unit with the highest footballing intellect, what he lacks in pace he makes up for in spatial awareness. No-one in Tequilo can match him for reading the game, and he looks set to develop into a decent coach once his playing days are done. Coach Martí has appointed him player-coach for this cycle following a successful stint as coach on the IAC squad.

Image
4. Huracan
DC | Jaguar Ixtacomitán | Age 25 | 45 caps, 7 goals
Another of Tequilo's classy defenders, who really impressed in the Baptism of Fire tournament as Tequilo’s best player. The young centre back Huracan, of the Ixta people, is only 25 and a surprisingly slight fellow for a player task with holding up the last line of defence. But don't be deceived; to the pitxi fans of Tequilo, this talented defender seems to have already been around for an age, having made his league debut for Jaguar Itxacomitán at only 15 years old. Full name Patzin Cihuacoh Xihuidira-Nogue, Huracan should grace the national team for a couple more cycles at least; his needle-point tackling and boundless energy made him a fans favourite early on, and at Jaguares he is well on the way to being a club legend. He established himself as a fixture in the new unified national team alongside Haize Apeiztegui and Patrick Zambo; the three of them a solid wall at the back who have demonstrated great understanding of each other; while this will be their last cycle together, Huracan knows he could be leading this line for years to come.

Image
5. Huachalla
DR | Acacoyagua | Age 26 | 24 caps, 3 goals
Since the formation of the national team, flamboyant young right back Huachalla had been the understudy to Chicchan and in getting playing time in about a third of the national team games proved one of the understated heroes of Tequilo’s rise from obscurity to comfortable mediocrity, and now boasts one of the best average ratings of the whole national team database for players who have made over ten appearances. That impressive stat alone was enough to win Huachalla Nuccu-Huaxtenautl, to use his full name, a place in the first XI for the current cycle. A player comfortable with playing out from the back, happiest on the front foot and always ready to overlap with the midfield, he will also run all day long and can drop back faster than antarctic quicksilver. Other than his unexpected rise into the starting line up, there is nothing understated about Huachalla, who will often frighten the bejesu out of his coaches with elaborate turns, dummies and backheels in his own box when defending a corner; and he will be guaranteed to infuriate opposition supporters with his less than magnanimous approach to team successes. All of which makes him a most-loved player with his own fans at Acacoyagua, where he came through the youth ranks and has been a first team regular since the age of 18. Featured as the starting right back throughout the World Cup cycle for the first time, and should continue to do so provided a disgruntled opponent doesn’t punch his lights out first for taking liberties.

Image
6. Ixtub Tün
DMC | Pitxi-Pitxi 77 | Age 19 | 32 caps, 2 goals
One of Tequilo’s undisputed great prospects of our time, the young man they call El Tren - The Train: Ixtub Tün. Second youngest national debutant after Niño Pinto, at sixteen the Pitxi-Pitxi 77 defensive midfielder was still a baby when he made the national team and is still a toddler in age terms now, but you wouldn’t call him that if he was stood in front of you - at 199cm and weighing in at 112 kilos he really is a beast already. On the field of play he is no slouch despite the weight he has to pull, and it takes two men to knock him down. He is a giant. But it is not all about his physique and throwing his considerable weight around - Ixtub is an impressive reader of the game already, calm on the ball, he does the simple things well and his presence is reassuring both to the defence behind him and to the attackers in front. In this cycle, with the retirement from international football of Callañuapa, his apprenticeship was served and he stepped up as the youngest of coach Martí’s starting XI, though already with plenty of experience. If the last cycle was his international bow and his warm-up, this one was the one where he cemented his status as the nation’s Numero Seis.

Image
7. Vilca Hualla
AML | Índigo Huayna | Age 23 | 23 caps, 4 goals | Team Vice Captain
Identified as a prospect back at the Tequilo entry into the Baptism of Fire for cycle '85, Tzoma Cactzina Vilca Hualla, familiarly known as Vilca Hualla, was hit by early injury and has twice had to fight back into contention for the national team first XI, initially losing out to Isidoro Artechevarria and at the beginning of this cycle to Xaime Medal. But the boy from Índigo has shown his mettle to come through both challenges, whilst enjoying his rising star at his hometown club along with fellow internationals Leyton and Niño Pinto. A marauding left winger, he has had to overcome a reputation for being a little flaky, which largely means he's been unfortunate with injury, and has demonstrated his inate leadership abilities to win the captain's armband at club level. The national team captaincy might well be next for this intelligent footballer with a good eye for a killer pass and the ability to take players on. Though he doesn't score many from his wide positions he is nothing if not generous with his forwards - in the top ten for assists in the domestic leagues four seasons in a row, he also has the highest assists per game ratio for the national team. With boundless energy he will also track back all day long and makes a perfect partner for a raiding fullback, happy to assume a defensive position with the back pushing on, or providing the overlap if needed.

Image
8. Mateo Tafalla
AMC | Motozintla FC | Age 33 | 37 caps, 17 goals | Team Captain
The first great hero of the Tequilo national team, captain of Motozintla, and outgoing captain of the Agave-Blues. The famously eccentric midfielder has been the driving force of the national team's attacking instincts from the outset; in Tequilo if not abroad, Mateo has accumulated wide admiration for his audacious play, cunning tricks, vision, and ability to control the pace of a match. He had his footballing education in Dolores, Tamarindia, variously with city clubs Bayona Cadíx, Piratas and Universitario before returning home to join the ‘Make Moto Great Again’ campaign under Mauricio Nores. His international stats have been diminished somewhat by injury problems and suspensions - he's a full blooded combatant at all times and often to his own detriment - missing chunks of the campaign after being targetted by frustrated opponents or angry referees, but his average rating is still one of the highest of the national team as he always puts in an impressive shift when he’s available to play. With the giant Ixtub Tün giving him protection in the midfield, he has had a long run through the cycle so far and will hope to drive the attack again in Sylestone and Ethane - and that can only be to the advantage of Los Pitxileros.

Image
9. Tlacolotl
ST | Pitxi-Pitxi 77 | Age 21 | 49 caps, 34 goals
One of 77os prodigios, striker Tlacolotl went to Delaclava as an untried reserve and finished leading the line into the semi-finals and third place playoff of the Baptism of Fire. He went on to become Tequilo's leading striker through the World Cup and Cup of Harmony for that cycle, and has already accumulated some impressive stats at the spearhead of the national team. Full name Hunaphu Ah-Kuhmix-Unicob Tlaco Xumucane, Tlacolotl is a striker in the old-fashioned hooligan mould, a fearsome competitor, never afraid to mix it up, physically and mentally able to intimidate much bigger defenders through sheer force of will, and also technically competent. No-one will match him in the air and if you put him down on the ground - no mean feat, well done - be warned he will never stay down for long and when he gets back up, he will be coming for you. At domestic giants Pitxi-Pitxi 77 he has made the number 9 shirt his own, and looks set for a glittering career scoring goals and busting noses.

Image
10. Ecuador
ST | Real Gardaresso | Age 24 | 15 caps, 10 goals
Füçê Phiá Eqato, a tribal Uiaiey native of the Antivadoro islands, had been quietly impressing at his second-tier home club Gallandaires for a number of seasons as a young orthodox number 10, winning the club top scorer three seasons in a row and state division top scorer and best player in his final year before mighty Real Gardaresso took a punt on him. With three or four young strikers looking for a spot alongside Real stalwart Raimi Dokunanga, it was ‘Ecuador’ who won his manager’s favour as the team stormed to a spot in the Liga-TQ Primera division, eventually finishing third and qualifying for IFCF competition. Winning a call-up to IAC-10 he stepped up once more to win Tequilo’s player of the tournament as top-joint goalscorer and highest rated player, showing a natural calm and quiet leadership whilst at the same time proving a deadly finishing touch. His quiet character is reflected in the way he plays, often drifting unnoticed into dangerous positions with his sublime movement and reading of the game, providing space for others too as he did so well in his debut season for Real as Dokunanga had his highest scoring return in six years, and for Ito in the IAC tournament, who matched him for goals thanks largely to Ecuador’s running off the ball. A serious injury midway through World Cup qualifying cut short his international progress and ruined Real's season this year, but he is back and we all hope he's back to his best. Potentially one of the most naturally gifted number 10s in Tequilo, coach Martí has immediately returned him into his first XI to support top scorer Tlacolotl.

Image
7. Leyton
AMR | Índigo Huayna | Age 27 | 10 caps, 2 goals
The first player to be called straight into the national team first XI from no previous experience since the opening Baptism of Fire tournament, Leyton - full name Valerio Huanitzin Leyton - may have surprised us all with such a call up but fans at home club Índigo Huayna were nodding sagely, and muttering ‘about time’. They have been admiring his energetic, mazy running from the right wing, his cutting in and trickery, his intimidating of opposition players and his considerable contribution of assists and goals for his hometown club for nearly a decade. It had been a constant source of wonder to them how he had been overlooked throughout the last cycle - but that has been put right now and the sturdy, sometimes surly, and always mercurial winger has already chipped in with goals, assists, cards and arguments. Throughout his career he was and still is touted for a move to one of the bigger clubs in Tequilo or even abroad. Of mixed Costelloa-Índigo heritage - the common non-pejorative demonym here is Mextiqo - he has the silky ball skills of the Ipanema side of the family, the fierceness of his Huayna ancestors and the confusionist tendencies of all good Tequiloa.

TEAM GUIDE
FAN FAVOURITES

Image
40. Roxelio Toran
ST | Ciupa Azul | Age 27 | 19 caps, 10 goals
The first player to score a brace and then a hattrick (plus one) for the nation, the gifted striker has always garnered plenty of attention from Tequilo’s big clubs - and Ciupa Azul hadn’t won anything for 70 years. He may not be a man to make a hasty decision, but it was felt that surely as he reached his golden years, he would want to be winning things? His appearances in Tequilo's Baptism of Fire, cut short at the end of the group stage through injury, suggested that he could have gone sooner rather than later, but sticking at Ciupa may have been to the detriment of his national position - where he fell down the rankings somewhat. But the fans still love him and he kept faith with his team - this season, they were state champions with Roxelio the star of their campaign: Roxelio has returned to the top of the tree; and coach Martí rewards his old favourite with a surprise recall. A piece of useless trivia on Roxelio - if you think he looks a lot like famous Tequiloan comic poet Bermúdez (full name Iago Bermúdez), well, you would be right - they are cousins!

Image
18. Niño Pinto
AMC | Índigo Huayna | Age 19 | 25 caps, 11 goals
Holding the records for youngest debut, youngest starter and youngest goalscorer for the national team, all before his 17th birthday, the impish midfielder secured several high-profile modelling contracts and is quite the heartthrob of young Tequiloan society. Declining the approaches of more successful Huayna-Comitán cross-town rivals Acacoyagua, the lad signed for traditional Huayna people’s favourite Índigo before his tenth birthday, and has been watched intently ever since by envious rival clubs. A hit at every level of youth football, he broke into his club’s first team at 15 and has not looked back. A stylish midfielder with an eye for goal and a great reader of the game, he looks like the natural candidate to replace Mateo Tafalla once his reign at the top comes to an end. Niño Pinto impressed throughout the last cycle as back up to the national team captain and will have to be patient again, as he is likely to hold the reserve spot for this tournament too. But after that, with the veteran Mateo stepping down, he will join his young midfield colleague and good friend Ixtub Tün as the beating heart of the national team for years to come.

QUICKSTART RP GUIDE
PERMISSIONS & OTHER NOTES

Have fun. Maybe don't kill everyone. At least not all at once.

I Give My Opponent Permission To:
====================
Do Absolutely Anything: Y*
====================

*RRR: the Right to Reciprocity Reserved

The ‘Paeips’ (‘peeps’) system - as noted in the squad listing - is there to assist your RP, if you need it. Full description ‘Personality As Expressed In Playing Style’, it uses a single word to sum up how the person plays, and/or how they are off the ball, off the field, off the clock and off piste… feel free to interpret that one word how you wish, or ignore it.

Most likely to get…

Poacher's tap in: Tlacolotl
20-metre screamer: Ecuador
Applauded for fancy panenka: Mateo Tafalla
Laughed at for bungled panenka: Chicchan
Jeered for over-exuberant celebrations: Huachalla
First minute booking: Xaime Medal
Last minute winner: Nufro de Urueña
Early bath for handbags: Isidoro Artechevarria
Stretcher to the tunnel: Vilca Hualla
Blood-covered rag around head: Ixtub Tün
Tackle of the season: Huracan
Book of tactics for extra-curricular homework: Haize Apeiztegui
A packet of sweets, a pat on the head, and excused from doing his homework for the night: Esâ Neá
Early nomination for legend status: Niño Pinto

The average Tequiloan has an exceedingly high SQ (shambolic quotient) meaning they are really very good at creating and thriving in chaos… they generally get things done in a very roundabout and often nonsensical way, usually with an unbelievably high portion of luck (either good or bad). They are happy to lose, and prefer it in chaotic fashion - it's all about the journey, not the result. 0-7 is much more interesting than 0-1. Apparently.

For the purpose of media marketing, the PR company attached to the UPT has decided the national team will take the nickname Los Pitxileros - the imaginative epithet translates as ’The Footballers’ - although the press and fans mostly prefer to use ’the agave-blues’ on account of their shirt colour.

OOC: Always happy to collaborate - drop me a TG or call me out in RP (but maybe still drop me a TG in case I miss it…)

Players in bold are default starters. Other players can be substituted whenever necessary. Do note that there are some changes made from the 23 players playing in the Baptism of Fire and some players who were cut from the team who played in the WCQ.

Head Coach and Playing Style
Following the poor performance in the World Cup Qualifiers, the GIFC appointed Poafmer Zahi Castillias to the hot seat, becoming the sole manager of the combined national team. Castillias is a former pundit for the Poafmersia Broadcasting Corporation, who left his job as the manager of the Poafmersian club Mancodas City after a poor title defence. He led Mancodas City to the PFPL title during their inaugural season, before leaving in the second season after a failed title defence, but not before leading the team to the FFI LdV semi-finals. Castillias took a 1 year sabbatical before becoming a pundit at the Poafmersia Broadcasting Corporation, and is happy to return to a managerial role for The Gothanita Isles.

The manager understands the style of football in TGI is slightly different from that in Poafmersia, so he choses to play a balanced possession-based football style for the team. The team is now more tactically flexible and willing to push forward whenever necessary, instead of relying on counter-attacks as the only source of goals.

Style Modifier: -0.250
Formation: 4-2-3-1 (default); 4-4-2 diamond, 4-3-3 (alternate)

I give my opponents permission to do the following for their RPs:
- Choose my starting lineup, goalscorers, substitutes. This must be done in reference to the details provided in pre-match RPs/main roster, such as the 11 starters listed above, and the players' styles.
- Godmod any scoring events, subject to these events being realistic. (Eg. Long range balls from midpoint line/goalkeeper line is allowed, RPing a fast ball boy that allowed for the corner to take place amid chaos is allowed, but something like having a pigeon swoop down from the sky to push a ball in is not allowed.)
- RP or Godmod injuries to my players. These injuries can occur inside or outside the match, however, you only RP what happened. (Do TG me so that I will take notice, especially for godmodded ones.) The extent of injuries, as well as the duration of the player being out, is decided by me.
- Hand out yellow and red cards to my players. However, the number of red cards can only be 1 more than the number of red cards you give your own players.
- RP or Godmod any other events, with the exception of any pandemic-related events. No pandemic in my nation, no pandemic on my players. Do TG me if you wish to let me know of any other events you plan to RP, and I am willing to cooperate if necessary.

Manager: Image Sam Billic • Formation: 4-4-2

For a fourth successive cycle, Mercedini were pushed all the way but couldn't get the job done in World Cup Qualifying, finishing third in the group and falling into the Cup of Harmony bracket, to once again fight for a second title at the multiverse's secondary post-quals tournament. It was a competitive group with a clear front three in the shape of Baker Park, Savojarna and Dini who traded blows against each other early on. Mercedini did something they had never done before, and that was to sweep the group's top seed and then-World #8 Baker Park in both games, winning 1-0 first in the BBP Stadium in Belle Vue, followed by another 1-0 win in Zoloroni. Normally that would be enough, but Savojarna then did the double over Dini in both matches to keep it a tight three horse race until the end. However, the difference come in the shape of defensive frailties, which meant Dini dropped points against teams from lower pots to ultimately give up their qualification run. A 3-0 win against the Busoga Islands rounded out the campaign for Mercedini in a positive light, but it was far too late to make a difference in the group, with Mercedini eliminated in 3rd and now fighting for the Cup of Harmony trophy once again. Billic's first tournament as manager of the national team was last edition's Cup of Harmony, we will have another crack to try and do better than their 3rd placed finish at the 77th Cup of Harmony.

GK Daniel Hosset 30 Image Zoloroni City
GK Ibrahim Elaani 23 Image Dynum City Randajad
GK Anders Vorsini 21 Image Kiaono Locals

The young goalkeeping roster which was a hit-or-miss pairing throughout qualification, is renewed for another tournament with Hosset, Elaani and Vorsini all getting the nod ahead of fourth-man Mikelson, who drops out after only featuring in one game in qualification. Hosset was the standout defensive performer for Mercedini throughout qualification, with the four matches versus CBP and Savojarna yeilding very different result for the side, so it is very much a question of which defnsive group turns up on the day for Mercedini. With most of the big players otherwise occupied in the World Cup Group Stage, it gives Dini a chance to flex their muscles against some of the lower reaches of the world rankings, with the Golden Eagles almost guaranteed of a top seeding in their group when it is made.

RB Lucas Stretovsky 24 Image Blue Strike Zoloroni

There isn't really that much change when it comes to the personnel available in the defensive roster for Mercedini, although the transfer window has certainly changed where those players represent. The major change comes in the shape of Di Sansev, who finally departed Cosumar, and landed in Brigham, Eura for an eye-watering eight million NS$. Subsequently, he was upgraded to first-choice right-back for the upcoming campaign, capping off a stratospheric rise for the defender. Toivonen moved from Cosumar to Nephara, and now plays for Vermilion Rage in a move which is sure to excite the defensive connoisseurs in Mercedini, who have long looked for inspiration elsewhere to develop the defensive roster. Aznelik returns to the first team following a long absence, with everybody else keeping their spots from the last campaign. As stated before, qualification was very much a hit-or-miss run for the defence, but the Cup of Harmony gives them a chance to reset before they are eased back into action in the Group Stage, typically fertile ground for Dini to pick up results.

Once again, only a handful of changes to the midfield roster and they take the reigns for the national team, with the good performances put forward by the midfield squad during their World Cup run warranting national praise and re-selection for the upcoming qualification campaign. Mercedini has put itself on the map with it's attractive brand on attacking and controlling football, with the midfield quartet always at the heart of the action as they ebb and flow with the action of the game. Cricket scores can be chalked up when this group is in form, with experienced veterans teaming up with enthusiastic young-guns to provide plenty of variety and depth to Billic as he attempts to get maximum efficiency from his players. Mercedini have often struggled against the top teams due to their inability to keep up with the midfield play, but this group of players are well experienced from one previous cycle together. It is simply a question of whether Mercedini can be put in the same bracket as the top tier of football-playing nations this time around.

STRIKERS
ST Daniel Dostalok 26 Image Starling
ST Ben Chillotov 25 Image Lajuno
ST Adrian Talisky 19 Image Blue Strike Zoloroni
ST Feliks Alva 24 Image Elspachia

In a roster where there has been little to no change, the prolific group of strikers has only seen one change in the last two cycles from the group which got their call-ups to the senior team last edition, with Adrian Talisky keeping his spot in the attacking roster due to his super-sub moments last edition. Talisky is certainly seen as the next generation of talismanic strikers, after Billic and Chillotov have done before them. After scoring more than twenty goals in the past two season for Blue Strike Zoloroni, the teenager has certainly earned his stripes, where he hopes to add another cutting edge to the quintet.

Chillotov and Dostalok remain the top two in the Mercedinian striking world and are selected once again to lead the line. They have been holding steady for their respective clubs, and are finally within their calibre of quality after lighting up their respective leagues before moving abroad to face greener pastures. All of these players used to play for their hometown club before moving for considerable amounts of money to their current clubs, effectively bankrolling their boyhood clubs for a while. Now playing internationally, they have been through the highs and lows of the qualifying schedule, so nothing should come as a shock to them as they go through the gears once again. Minnows and Juggernauts will have to face off against these players, whoever comes out of the other end will likely decide the campaign for Mercedini, with so much tied on the performances of these strikers.

Starting Lineup, Formation, and Tactics:

Image

The Valladar national football team is known for having its traditional 3-2-2-3 (or 3-4-3 for general reference) formation, which can turn into either a very aggressive yet non-conventional 3-2-5 for attacking or a 5-4-1 (a 3-6-1, even) when the team feel the need to enter into a defensive mode. La Nacional will always be looking to attack and retain ball possession for as long as possible, trying to score many goals in the shortest possible time and mounting an insurmountable lead for the second half of the match when players from both teams start showing signs of fatigue. This squad mostly relies on the speed of its wingers both in attack and in defense modes, with another couple of players (usually Leonardo Rojas and Christian O'Brien) playing the role of defensive midfielders that was well covered by Jonathan Bosetti and Pedro Pedretti in the past: both should be able to retreat to the defensive line with ease whenever the team lose ball possession in order to form a line of 5 defenders, thus giving rival forwards a very hard time when trying to break through the Valladar defense. Regardless of who the trio playing up front is made of, those strikers are well prepared under the premises of the typical Valladar forward: very speedy and talented, with the ability to seemingly harmless crosses into goals, create chances and score goals out of nothing, and kill defenses with speed and lethal counterattacks.

RP permissions: Your RP permissions are mine, short of death and career-ending injuries. If I can send off your players, you can send off mine. If your players can’t be booked, neither can mine. If I can invade the Earth Kingdom, destroy the Southern Water Tribe and wipe out the Air Nomads in the name of spreading the prosperity of the Fire Nation to the entire world, so can you. Just make it funny/entertaining, if you don’t mind. ;)

Note on surnames: Saltsteadish surnames follow RL Netherlands Dutch conventions on surname prefixes: they aren’t capitalised when used in combination with first names or initials, but are capitalised in all other situations. For example, “Carle de Marħt” is correct, while “Carle De Marħt” is not; however, when the given name is not used, “De Marħt” is proper, while “de Marħt” is not. When multiple prefixes are used, such as in “Zacharias van den Slåp”, only the first should be capitalised (i.e. “Van den Slåp”, not “van den Slåp” or “Van Den Slåp”).

Pandemic disclaimer: I will not be recognising the existence of any international pandemics. This does not mean that I will not recognise the existence of disease outbreaks in other countries, but these will be construed as a series of unrelated outbreaks that do not extend beyond the borders of nations that accept their existence. These outbreaks will not under any circumstances extend to or from the Saltsteadish Commonwealth and any attempt to introduce new disease outbreaks to Saltstead will be immediately nullified by the Ministry of Defence’s newly-acquired “Instantaneous Godmode Neutralisation by Optimised Revision of Events” (I.G.N.O.R.E.) system.

I wish anyone currently afflicted with COVID-19 a speedy recovery and anyone struggling as a result of the pandemic the best. <3

The so-called “Qusma revolution” has been universally recognised by all sides as a dud, with the Royal Saltsteadish Football Association and Tlanx-Nulzk Hal mutually agreeing to part ways after AOCAF LIX. Saltstead have reverted back to the defence-oriented roots of Saltsteadish football under the watch of newly-appointed head coach John Nicholas Rosencrants. The former Saint Anne Athletic head coach has wrested back and tempered the gameplans that Tlanx-Nulzk Hal threw into the wastelands of Kryosis, hoping to recapture the magical first years of Saltsteadish international football. Patience and control are once again the name of the game, the midfield has returned to form as a de facto first line of defence and the attack is once again sporadic and opportunistic.

The grandson of Saltsteadish republican dissidents, Rosencrants played as a forward for the Omerica national team before retiring to coach his hometown club Saint Anne Athletic. Achieving stability at the club and guiding them through an unexpected relegation battle, the Saltsteadish-Omerican’s appointment is seen as providing a safe pair of hands to transition Saltstead back into international football after its unexpected interruption. Rosencrants brings along another Saltsteadish-Omerican in former Omerica midfielder and longtime confidant Thomas de Vricht, while employing native Saltsteader Aleksänder van den Bergen to act as a cultural liaison between the Omerican duo and the rest of the Saltsteadish team structure.

The default Saltsteadish strategy can be summed up in one phrase: “the best offence is a good defence”. The Stallions play a highly opportunistic attack, lying in wait for an opportunity rather than charging head-on, with possession mostly confined to the midfield. Saltstead prefer to play a passing game in possession, while attempting to pry the ball away from the opposition when not, either by intercepting a pass or tackling players. The Stallions will attempt to frustrate and infuriate the opposition and are unashamed of drawing games and advancing via penalty shoot-outs.

Cup of Harmony 78

Sargossa - 'The Corsairs'

We’ve been around international football long enough to know that it’s a game of peaks and troughs. Recently we were enjoying quite a peak, now we’ve tripped and fallen down a trough. After a failure to qualify for two successive World Cups the Football Federation decided a change was necessary.

Head Coach(s)

Brian McAllister (Tikariot) & Luís Molina
Although listed as co-coaches that’s not entirely accurate. Brian McAllister is the new face in the dugout and is calling the shots. A key part of the backroom team that masterminded Tikariot’s highly impressive arrival onto the world stage, McAllister is bound to bring new ideas and impetus. Which is exactly what the FFS wanted. Luís Molina joins him in the technical area in an advisory capacity, as the new coach has had little time to get fully up to speed prior to the Cup of Harmony, but will return to his post as Director of Elite Football at the conclusion of the tournament.

Backroom Staff

Assistant Head Coach: Gregory Wallen (Tikariot)
Assistant Head Coach: Miguel Marí
Defensive Coach: Iker Conde
Attacking Coach: Jordi Suárez
Goalkeeping Coach: Dario Almirón
Fitness Coach: Luis Miguel Sacristán
Team Doctor: Dr Carla Segura

Talent

GK: 1. Alejandro Martínez (24) – Sportivo Soluca
GK: 13. Sergio Arrabal (24) – Alianza Jucaro
GK: 25. Tomás Gaos (34) – Sportivo Cordova

As a teenager Martínez was touted as a future star by no less a luminary as former Corsairs’ keeper and coach Martín Tejera. He’s know showing exactly why he earned that praise. Sergio Arrabal spent his formative years as a hugely talented understudy to Penedo at Ciudad. He had to move to Alianza to finally prove he had what it takes to be a number one. Gaos provides a more experienced back-up option.

DR: 2. Carlos Carter (28) – Sporting San Marquez
DC: 5. Juan Esnáider (29) – Oriannor Mountaineers (Tikariot)
DC: 6. Valentín Alarcón (27) – Ciudad Soluca
DL: 3. Saúl Escribano (32) – Sportivo Soluca
DLC: 12. Josué Ruiz (29) – Ciudad Soluca
DRC: 14. Máximo Moya (22) – Sporting San Marquez
DR: 19. Tobías Figueroa (19) – El Nacional
DC: 21: Hugo Galán (26) – Yaton FC (Taeshan)

With a brand new coach in the dugout it’s a blank slate for the this group of players. Brian McAllister has had barely a chance to bed so the World Cup squad have a tournament in which they could well be playing for their future places. Fallbacks driving forward have been a key component of the Tikariot attack so McAllister will probably be delighted to find three wide players in Carter, Escribano and the youngster Moya who revel in going forward. Juan Esnáider has already impressed Tikariotian eyes, having embarked on a new career chapter in Oriannor. Who partner’s him in a new look back four is a question waiting to be answered.

DMC: 4. Esteban Pomar (27) – El Nacional
AMR: 7. Édgar Elvira (22) – Dínamo Maturín
MC: 8. César Goyoso (32) – Sporting San Marquez
AML: 11. Esteban Leguizamo (27) – Blacklake Blues (Taeshan)
AMRC: 15. Agustín Soria (20) – Sportivo Soluca
MC: 16. Adrián Fonseca (30) – Ciudad Soluca
DMC: 18. Marcos Águila (21) – El Nacional
MC: 22. Juan Sebastián Varela (24) – Alianza Jucaro
AMLC: 24. Mauro Pereira (28) – Sportivo Cordova

There was no one happier at the new appointment than Édgar Elvira and Esteban Leguizamo. Finally they had a national coach for whom wingers weren’t just something used in Plan C or D. Midfield battler Esteban Pomar’s lack of creative nous may count against his chances of a start. Which could see veteran César Goyoso drop deeper or the introduction of the talented Marcos Águila. Elvira will battle Agustín Soria, fresh from some impressive cameos off the bench, on the right. While Esteban Leguizamo will surely get the run in the side he’s been so craving.

FLC: 9. Mauricio Sainz (25) – Ciudad Soluca
FRLC: 10. Diego Alejandro Costa (27) – Ciudad Soluca
FC: 17. Mateo Manzanares (19) – Dínamo Maturín
FRC: 20. Diego Cazalla (24) – Alianza Jucaro
FL: 23. Alonzo Bienvenida (27) – Sportivo Cordova
FC: 26. Tomas Murillo (30) – Sportivo Soluca

Six forwards could well be a luxury we see much less of in future, with the new coach favouring just a single front runner. Diego Alejandro Costa will no doubt provide strong interplay with his accurate range of passing but the strength and power of Mauricio Sainz may yet get the nod. And waiting in the wings is the talented Mateo Manzanares. Diego Cazalla provides another option both up front and on a pretty stacked right hand side. Alonzo Bienvenida adds depth on the left.

Style

Brian McAllister, alongside Stuart Ekstrom, implemented an attractive, fluid, attacking style on their Tikariot side. Expect more of the same here. With a formation that is 4-3-3 in possession and 4-5-1 without it and plenty of movement, both on and off the ball. Swift, short passing and forwards switching positions to confuddle the opposition are also hallmarks of the Tikariot approach. If it comes off it should be very exciting indeed. But it remains to be seen whether the new coach has had enough time to fully integrate his ideas.

The SuperLiga is quite a physical league so challenges can often be described as 'uncompromising' and cards are pretty common. Gamesmanship, while never encouraged, is also not entirely uncommon. But diving is considered particularly stigmatic so Sargossan players are unlikely to be found doing it.

"This is SBN Sport. Right now, live from Sylestone, a preview of the 78th Cup of Harmony."

"Full time from Inkopolis, and what a sour note to end it on - Squidroidia are out of the World Cup."

It felt like forever ago when Cassadaigua knocked out the fearless Inklings in qualification. Squidroidia somehow were running with the wolves in their group early on. But some results...

"What an embarrassing loss to start off the campaign, Wymondham get 3 points over Squidroidia."

"It's going to be an even bigger hole to come out of! Ihilthracna puts Squidroidia in trouble!"

"HOW? Just HOW did they draw to Kulefati!?"

...They never recover from them. But every time they fall down, they get back up.

"Here's NARIAKI! THE COMEBACK FROM THE INKLINGS IS COMPLETE, AND THE GRIM REAPERS ARE STUNNED!"

But there's always second chances. Welcome to the Cup of Harmony. A stage removed from the big one, where the most devout and passionate fans stick it out for their countries through thick and thin.

And welcome to Sylestone, a nation with sentients, snakes, spiders, elves and uncut natural beauty. As much as you can be admired by it...

"Main Nation Ministry leaves on a high note, but it isn't enough!"

You can fall to it.

In order to survive Sylestone and reach the Final, you have to master the environment. One slip up and you're packing. In order to survive, you have to outlast.

Only then, will the one nation lift the cup. Squidroidia's journey starts here.

"And we welcome you live to beautiful Chamberley, Sylestone, where Squidroidia, along with the nations of New Lusitania, Kohnhead, Geektopia, the Orion Islands and Valladares, along with the cheerleading crazy Cheergirls, will stay for Group B of the 78th Cup of Harmony. It's not as important as the World Cup in the eyes of the Committee, but passion in this tournament is well rewarded with a possible trip to the Final, to lift the aforementioned cup."

"And here I am, right outside the Chamberley Institute of Sport, Sylestone's largest stadium! It's Takanaki Osa, and right next to me, the lovely Rose Golden! Rose, how do you like this place?"

"Such a serene Esportivian place to be honest. If I were a tourist and my team got knocked out, I would probably stay just for the beauty. There isn't anything like it in Squidroidia, to be honest."

"And I have to agree with you. Pulling up the map of Sylestone, you see a lot of beauty just from the layout alone. Group A will visit the sentient town of Kirkham - And that's where the defending Baptism of Fire champions Græntfjall will be playing their group games!"

"Speaking of them, here's Snow Wolves coach Brynjólfursson! He guided his team to the Playoff round and came close to making the World Cup on his first attempt too. They're a team to watch for sure."

"Group B's teams traveled to Chamberley, and besides Squidroidia themselves, another interesting team to look out for is Geektopia."

"A 3 thousand year wait for them to make Sylestone. They had lots of time studying the Squidroidians, they'll only have to wait until the second matchday to take them on."

"And we won't have a Group B without the Cheergirls too, Rose."

"A very interesting team if I ever seen one. Very flexible too, they can surprise anybody with their fluid game style."

"For those in Group C it's off to the capital of Sylestone in Avondale. 4 teams are familiar here to the Inklings - Megistos, Flavovespia, Abahnfleft and the Gothanita Isles!

"I feel bad that the Squidroidians beat them hard in the bronze medal game in Baptism."

"And finally Group D will stay in Betham, home for the groups of the Glaskopolis Rangers."

"Stevenakios Gerardikis. What an interesting man, what an interesting manager for Rangers!"

"Their groupmates are interesting too, and one of the most interesting teams in Sylestone and the Cup of Harmony is Yuezhou, and if you're at all familiar with Tractor Club Sawayama in the Jecken Squidroidian Super League, you will be familiar with Liu Huiying!"

"And they're more interesting than just having an international playing in Squidroidia. They nearly got to the playoff round despite not even partaking in a WCC sanctioned event before."

"Those are all the interesting teams playing in Sylestone, and here are the groups. More names we haven't mentioned are Tequilo in Group A, New Lusitania and Kohnhead in Group B, Huayramarca in Group C and the longest name in this Cup of Harmony coming out from Group D, say it with me... Zeta Reka and Hugeltadom. Those playing in Ethane are on your screen, Group E looks like the group of death with Tikariot, Twicetagria, Sylestone, Xanneria, Krytenia, The Jovanic and Murphtannia all in the same group, Group F has the interesting Slusus of Slusuland along with HUElavia and Ziwana, Group G is the home of the defending IAC champions Poafmersia and looks deadly too, with Vdara, Tioguldos, Riena and Maccian alongside them, and rounding out is Group H, where Omerica, Springmont and Northwest Kalactin will all have to face the mighty Taeshan."

"So, what are your guesses on where Squidroidia will go this Cup of Harmony?"

"It depends to be honest. We can win against the Orion Islands, but everyone else will have to be taken cautiously. I don't see us beating Geektopia or New Lusitania to be honest. We're either going to be out of the Cup of Harmony in the groups or if we're lucky the Round of 32. This is going to be tough."

"Tough indeed, and speaking of Geektopia, that's who Squidroidia will face first, but that's on the next matchday! For Matchday 1 they will be taking on New Lusitania here in Chamberly, and you can catch it all on SBN Sport. Matchday 2, Squidroidia versus Geektopia, will be broadcast LIVE on SBN 1 and without commentary on SBN 2, along with Squiddish coverage on SBN Squid. But for now, my name is Takanaki Osa, we'll see you back again for the start of the seventy-eighth Cup of Harmony, here in Sylestone!"

Electrum National Football Team
presented by Electrum Football

General Information
The sentient creatures from the country of Electrum take part in a competitive endeavour called football, where the objective is to use feet (the bottom two limbs) to move the ball into the opposing team's netted zone, scoring one goal. The most goals wins the match. Electrum's performance in this tournament, which was historically (inter)stellar (winning the "World Cup 78" competition), has fallen by the wayside in recent years, due to the catastrophe that required your (The Computator) intervention. As you may recall, you saved Electrum from a time freeze, which had frozen the country in time while time moved inexorably forward in the fourth dimension across the rest of the multiverse.

Electrum had a satisfactory return to the tournament last edition, which boosted morale amongst the creatures. Their performance was deemed worthy by the authorities to merit an invitation to the "Cup of Harmony" tournament, but the creatures did not make significant progress on that front. We continue to use overseas creatures from Electrum who were not in the country during the incident, who do not suffer from the effects of the time warp, to lead the tribe. We have also extended the contract of the chief strategist and managerial staff without a procurement process in order to maintain continuity and preserve experience. After our last qualification run, we have once again been invited to the "Cup of Harmony", to save face, we have accepted the invitation.

If you may recall last edition, we embedded some of your inter-dimensional friends from other worlds, to assist the team. Unfortunately, this arrangement has not worked out for certain creatures, so we have replaced some of them with the native sentient creatures. You will be happy to note that Einarsson, King of the Armoured Bears still remains on the team. The Electrumite National Team are not expected to make great success.

Statistical Information

Best World Cup record: Champion (WC78)

Coaching Staff
Manager: Tyler Fernando
Assistant Manager: Jemima Bryant
Development Manage: Risa Shigaraki

We have terminated the contract with sentient creature Lboaisa Akarelm at the conclusion of the previous World Cup qualification. A new contract is now in effect with the services of Tyler Fernando. Fernando has previously captained the Electrumite National Team to the victory in World Cup 78. Jemima Bryant is noted for her use of technology in decision making and could prove useful in other capacities for The Computator.

True Tales from the Cup of Harmony
Pt. 1

An overpriced tin can flew high over a clear sky. The top of the can was mustard yellow and the long belly was painted red. A thick white stripe was in the center of the can, and it housed the name of the synthetic dodo bird's passengers. “Zeta Reka & Hügeltaldom,” was written in three gaudy fonts. The cabin was lit dimly thanks a few electronic devices. For one man, everything was a bit foggy, and the young on rubbed his eyes. That tiny man was Bogdan Rawić, a pint sized goal scorer affiliated with to Zeta Reka’s national football team and defending league champions Aleiusia Capital. The young man was inside a low price jetliner, headed to play in the world famous Cup of Harmony. Bogdan looked over to his right side, there sat one of Bogdan’s team mates. The man was named Miloš. Miloš was on the surface a good kid. He was three years Bogdan’s senior and the pair were discussed in the media as being, “thick as thieves.” The two athletes disagreed and only tolerated each other during national team fixtures.

“You think he’ll find his bag.” Miloš asked as Rawić nodded. Who wouldn’t nod to a person who has not made eye contact? “What is going on, man?” Bogdan peered over to Miloš, and his cell phone. Miloš looked over and burried his head back into the screen, “None of your business,” Miloš said, “It’s just some texts.” A verbal duel broke out with coarse rough whispers as the weapon of choice. “Says who?” “Me?” “You?” “Are you sure it’s you?” “It’s not you!” Bogdan inched away in his seat and chuckled like a young lad. “Hey,” Miloš said after a small lull in the action. Bogdan ignored the call but felt the prodding of elbow of his friend. “Hey, hey!” Miloš whispered, “This is something you wanna see.” The young striker looked over “You sure?” he said sarcastically before a phone was shoved an inch away from the nose. Miloš spoke with a voice normal to daylight ears, but abnormal in the night, “It’s my coach."

Bogdan plucked away his team mate’s phone, an event which not novel. The phone was on a wi-fi based messaging app, and had texts from Miloš’ head coach, Janko Perlog, or Coach Perlog. To Bogdan it was pretty boring. The texts were about players being asleep on the flight, and something about Perlog not renewing his contract. Bogdan scrolled down and stopped at one interesting message. “I’ll be taking the job offer from Aleiusia Capital.” the text read, “They’re announcing it on your bye day.” Bogdan smiled and began to type out a message out in his friend’s name. “What are you gonna do with the shorty?” he asked. “Dude, stop.” Miloš said with tired tone. “Stop!” Bogdan got up with the phone, and walked out. Bogdan heard words as he moved through the cabin, Miloš quiet cries of, “Screw you,” or, “Get back here,” eventually were replaced with some kind of ghastly snoring sound from the full backs.

Bogdan eventually arrived at the planes lavatory. Bogdan opened up the door and walked in, turning on a light. Bogdan let wind come from his lungs. The sound was a gasp that in a moment transformed into a light sigh of disappointment. Mullow Dorboslawić, a veteran player in multiple ways, was spread out over the floor. The old man was partially awake. “You back, Arn?” he slowly asked twice. Bogdan placed the phone down and lifted up Mullow. “Get up, drunk.” Bogdan said, “I used to look up to you.” Mullow brushed away the young lad and spoke for himself, “You’ve said that already!” Mullow zipped up his pants. “Thanks for a compliment,” Mullow said with a hiccup as he returned to his seat. Bogdan bowed his head in embarrassment and took Miloš’ phone. The lad shut the door, and tried to forget about the sight he’d seen by humming the fight songs of his club.

There were two new messages from Coach Perlog. The phone was locked. The unlock screen showed Miloš holding a gold handled vase about two or three years ago. Bogdan had a similar pic on his phone from his own triumph. Bogdan smiled. He was proud of his friend. Bogdan was also happy to know that he wasn’t the only athlete with an ego stroking unlock screen. Getting past the password Miloš set up was easy. The combo was 4-2-3-1, Kven FK’s formation. Seemingly anywhere and everywhere was a place where one could see the commitment these men had to their teams. Bogdan adjusted to the blue light attacking his eyes and scanned for Coach Perlog’s words. The first text read, “What am I gonna do with the shorty? Bogdan Rawić?” Bogdan's eye locked onto the second message, and his mouth opened up slightly as the sight of what was written.

“I will sell him.”

"Well hello everyone, thanks for coming to our Cup of Harmony 78 post draw press conference. As you know the Knights have failed to qualify and thus for the first time in almost a decade are taking part in the Cup of Harmony in Sylestone and Ethane. Miles Snavely honorably stepped down after the failure to qualify and we've been a bit mum about who will take over. Thankfully we've reached an interim agreement with former national team player, Daigo Coshan. He will say some words and then the floor is open for your questions. Thank you."

"Yes thank you. It is an honor to take over coaching the national team from Miles a player I played with, and a manager that led us to two World Cups. Obviously it is no stretch to say that nobody wants to be in this situation, the Cup of Harmony. But we go into this with open eyes. This is a tournament none of these players have had a chance to compete in, and it could be an opportunity to bounce back into the next World Cup."

"Daigo, what sort of weaknesses do you see in this squad that could have caused the unpleasantness"?

"This is a young side. They had two new starting center backs, and a right back who mostly plays left back who happened to be the youngest player even with slightly more experience. It is often hard for an attacker like Miles to push a side known for defense. Xander got us back to a world cup despite his lack of defensive acumen in coaching, Miles had the best midfield Taeshan might ever have seen. I will have to get the defense back in tip top shape."

"A total of four changes were made to the main qualifying roster, why did you and the Taeshan Soccer Federation choose to make those changes"?

"It is pretty simple. One of the things that got us back the World Cup was cutting some of the old fat, the dead weight so to speak. Now no one who makes the international squad for a top 20 or 25 side in the World is not good enough, but sometimes you have to understand the players aren't cutting it for your side, sometimes players don't fit and sometimes you have to make the hard decisions that you don't want to to succeed."

"What do you see as your strengths heading into this tournament"?

"We have the best midfield here. No doubt, we also have players who have played in three World Cups and that cannot be understated. That can be big in a tournament like this. We have the midfield to overwhelm teams here, we just have to have the fire to do so. That is what can possibly worry us here, complacency."

"What do you make of the Group Draw? Two teams from qualifying with Springmont and Savigliane, two teams who troubled you in qualifying, and old rival in Jeruselem, and Oberour ar Moro, Omerica, and Northwest Kalactin are all impressive sides."

"You don't often have a chance for immediate revenge and we have a chance with Springmont and Savigliane, full points against both of those teams and we're in a playoff right now and not here. Jeruselem is an old friend, the biggest history of matches with us, and a continuation of a rivalry on a less than friendly stage. I've been informed by the staff that we have played Overour ar Moro before in a qualifying tournament, but it's possibly been since I was born. Northwest Kalactin and Omerica are new sides for us to meet, but there is a bevy of video on both sides out there for us to have a good chance against them."

"For possibly the second or third time in history the Knights come into this tournament as favorites, what do you think of that?"

"I think it is hard to call us favorites after that qualifying. I think we have a good squad, but we still leak goals and that is an issue that may take longer than this tournament. I have hope we can gel and continue to push as we have in qualifying, but we will see. I except a quarterfinal or so run, but I don't know if favorite is a fair call just yet."

Boot It!: After Great Success, The Jags Move Forward!

Postby TJUN-ia » Sun Sep 27, 2020 9:32 am

Name: TJUN-ia
Trigram: TJU
Football Association: FA-TJUN-ia
Nickname: Jaguars (official)/Jags (short form)/Blue and Orange (commonly-used informal)/Draw Masters (satirical)
WCC Ranking: 55th

"mark our words: The era of the Jaguar has only just begun." Those were the parting words of TJUN-ia after their 6-4 aggregate defeat to Chomatika in the Playoffs of World Cup 86 Qualifying. It was, of course, sad to not make the big tournament in Newmanistan and Drawkland but considering WC85 saw us finish 9th in our group, it's an obvious improvement that shouldn't be undermined. TJUN-ia performed really well in the group stage, overcoming the odds to make the playoffs on the final day, and with that experience in mind, there is a sense of optimism heading into the 78th Cup of Harmony in the smaller nations of Sylestone and Ethane. With a group as competitive as this competition would expect, it will be interesting to see how well we do in this tournament full of dreamers.

TEAM
With the best tournament of his tenure over the hill, David Seems will be looking to build on the campaign that saw the Jags climb to 55th in the most recent WCC Rankings (enough for Pot 2 at this tournament). With Li Xiu Ying by his side and rumours abound of their connection, the aim will be to improve on the team's Round of 16 appearance in this expanded tournament without getting too obsessed with what his homeland thinks about "the Manager and his Assistant". The players are the same (with only Joe Green swapping club affiliation), it's just motivation that separates pre-WC86 TJUN-ia from post-WC86 TJUN-ia. Can this motivated side challenge for the Top 8 in this tournament? We shall see...

Manager Damon Scheter Fired After Unsuccessful World Cup Qualifiers
GOLD COAST, NORTHWEST KALACTIN-The Manager of the Kalactanian squad for 6 cycles now, has officially been let go by the National FA for good now, after a largely unsuccessful World Cup Qualifiers.

The Kalactanian National Team went 3-4-11 in one of their world qualifying runs ever, finishing 9th place overall in Group 14, which was won by Farfadillis.

The terrible run included 0-2 record against Plane of Possibility, Nagore, and Yuezhou, who all came in as lowly ranked teams in the group. Scheter, in World Cup 85, had his most successful run ever at qualifying, although was edged out by a few teams in the end, and would fail to qualify.

Scheter was fired near the start of the 78th Cup of Harmony, which will be taking place in his home nation, Ethane, and the fellow Esportivan nation of Sylestone.

The FA announced this decision just weeks before the scheduled start of the Cup of Harmony, so it is very unclear who will go onto take over.

The Kalactanian FA has expressed their interest in hiring a manager internationally, although they may go on in the end to hire a fellow from Northwest Kalactin. They have not yet received much interest on the job, but this may change very quickly.

Jared Sednah, the President of the FA said in an interview “I doubt that he was going to last much longer here anyways, he was getting old and the squad was relatively unhappy with him. We are looking for a new manager, and we are willing to pay a good price for it, as the FA is not short on money.”

This comes just days before the Cup of Harmony draw also, so whoever it is has very little time to prepare a young squad for the 78th edition of the tournament.

The FAs ambitions are to make the World Cup by the 88th cycle, although they may be pushing that back based on how the young squad performs during the Cup of Harmony.

In the last Cup of Harmony, the Kalactanians made it all the way to the Quarterfinals, before losing to Trolleborg, who made this edition of the World Cup.

Jared Sednah has announced, that the FA will choose a current assistant coach as the manager if one is not found in a few weeks.

Compared to what has happened in the past with the Kalactanian team and Scheter, including being close to qualifying on 2 occasions, this was one of the most disappointing qualifying runs, if not the most ever. To be fair to Scheter, he was with a very young and inexperienced squad, but it was an extremely rough qualifiers.

The young squad included 18 year old star Thomas Butler, who had a stunning goal scoring run near the end of qualifying. He was quoted saying: “I am displeased with how Scheter tried to manage the team throughout these qualifiers, he did not do a good job to try and win games, and I think that the politics of keeping his job had a major part in that. I will be extremely happy if the FA brings in a Kalactanian Manager, and I am sure much of the squad will agree.”

ELEPHANT VALLEY MAIL

South Newlandia to participate at the 78th Cup of Harmony!

The Elephants are returning to the Cup of Harmony after a fairly successful first attempt two years ago. Seeded into pot three as the 65th-ranked team, making the Round of 32 should be possible, but the team has started with some changes. For example, both Romleb Mada and Jack Schroeder, the two players who received rather bad injuries a year ago, do not return. Most notably, of course, the assistant coach has changed. Michael White has answered calls to become the coach of Kohnhead, and he will be replaced by Todd Ingolffson. The team will be travelling to the Esportivan CoH a bit humbled after a mediocre qualifying campaign, but will try their best, as always.

Complete squad for South Newlandia

Coaching team

Head Coach: Robert Wolverine (46)
Assistant Coach: Todd Ingolffson (62)
Goalkeeper Coach: Matthias Boyle (42)
Athletic Coach: Josef Salazar (27)

All of the above have been on the team for 56 official (re: WCC) games, except for Ingolffson, who has zero. As mentioned, the former assistant White is now coaching Kohnhead, and he is replaced by the very experienced Ingolffson. He was previously coaching Elephant Valley FC, but after failing to reach the IFCF-spots by one point, he took responsibility and stepped down. After that, he was asked by Wolverine to take over White's job. His experience and offensive style should enhance the South Newlandian strengths, hopefully.

First starting eleven:
(clubs according to the current IFCF season; for all players, only stats from WCC tournaments are counted)

Image

GK: #1 Mikhail Trischuk (28 years old) (51 matches played, 68 conceded goals, 0 assists) Ratzupalfu Rhinos (South Newlandia) CAPTAIN
Mikhail Trischuk is the captain of the team, and he is one of the most important reasons the team is where they are today. His numerous saves have helped the team countless times, and his abilities as a captain are also in high regard. At 28, his career might already be past its peak, but there is no reason why he shouldn’t be playing for a few more years at least. On good days, he can frustrate entire offenses, on bad ones; he might take four or five goals.

LB: #2 Dhruv Roy (26 years old) (48 matches played, 6 scored goals, 6 assists) Valley Wanderers (South Newlandia)
Dhruv Roy can often be found in the opponents half. Especially after corners, his heading abilities can be dangerous. His long passes are also strong, but when it comes to pure defending against strong opponents, he isn’t as useful. He is the tallest among the field players, and his stays in the opponent’s box sometimes make the team vulnerable to counter-attacks. There is no real fight over the position, so Roy enjoys plenty of starts.

LCB: #8 Tommy Anderson (24 years old) (41 matches played, 0 scored goals, 2 assists) Anchors FC (Chromatika)
Tommy Anderson has been part of the squad since the Baptism of Fire, and bounced back and forth between the first eleven and the bench. He is still young, and can improve over the next years, and will hopefully do that in Chromatika. He absolutely is a pure defender, rarely sighted in the opponents half. Anderson profited off Schroeder’s injury to get a lot of minutes in the qualifiers, and since Schroeder isnt quite back yet, he is directing the offense again.

RCB: #5 Philip Gurero (24 years old) (13 matches played, 2 goals, 2 assists) Nickelson FC (Kohnhead)
Gurero is another young and coming player. Very good results in Kohnhead have brought him into the roster for the qualifiers, and after Schroeder’s injury, he used his chance to get into the first eleven. He is dangerous with headers, and shouldn’t be underestimated, but his relative inexperience is a weakness for him.

RB: #44 Gustafe Wright (29 years old) (19 match played, 0 scored goals, 1 assist) Ineton City (South Newlandia)
Wright gained his starting role in the Campionato Esportiva and the Olympics, and used it in the qualifiers. Robert Wolverine seems to stick to his theme of using experienced defenders, as he is 29 years old already; he is also another pure defender. Wright is frequently called the weak spot of the team, and that might be true, to be honest.

DM: #6 Kevin Mohamed (22 years old) (48 matches played, 2 scored goals, 3 assists) Nagelti Rovers (Jeckland)
Kevin Mohamed is the player in Defensive Midfield for the team. While he isn’t the strongest player on the position, South Newlandia lacks viable alternatives. He is a solid defender, but he isn’t great at developing and starting plays for the offense, often slowing things down. At twenty-two years old, he also still has a lot to learn, and is currently doing that in Jeckland.

LM: #9 Corban Green (21 years old) (36 matches played, 2 scored goal, 15 assists) Jecken Newport (South Newlandia) CORNERS
Corban Green is the youngest player in the starting formation at 21. His lack of experience is made up with fantastic amounts of talent. His shot isn’t as dangerous, while his flanks and corners are among the strongest ones in the country. Due to problems with his knee, he frequently missed games, but he seems to be fit right now. Recently, he hasn’t gotten the results he wanted, but he might be able to bounce back, even with two bench players eyeing his position.

RM: #13 Patrick McMora (24 years old) (54 matches played, 7 scored goals, 15 assists) Walstreim Lions (South Newlandia)
Patrick McMora is the player with the most matches for South Newlandia, having missed only two games. Despite being only 24 years old, he is already playing great. His passes and flanks can be deadly, and while he doesn’t score a lot of goals, he is capable of doing that too. He is one of the players that might be the captain eventually, and he will assume the role of vice-captain for the Cup of Harmony.

OM: #7 Finnley Wallis (27 years old) (47 matches played, 14 scored goals, 10 assists) Sophie City Royals (South Newlandia) FREE KICKS
Finnley Wallis is one of the most important players of the team. Depending on the situation, he can act as a third striker or even help out in defense. He debuted in the Baptism of Fire, and he is also responsible for free kicks. At 27 years, Wallis is well in his strongest years, and needs to be defended well. No one really knows why we still hangs around with the Royals; he could go to better teams easily, even though he helped them for a good season recently.

ST: #11 Brandon Irving (23 years old) (49 matches played, 21 scored goals, 9 assists) Barnley FC (Kohnhead)
Brandon Irving was already part of the squad during the Baptism of Fire, and leads the team in goals at 21 scored goals. Despite his talent, he is largely inconsistent. If he plays well, Irving is hard to stop, and the best player in the squad. He is currently doing fairly well at the defending Kohnheadian champion, and at 23, he has a lot of time left to improve.

ST: #41 Simon McCabe (31 years old) (36 matches played, 15 scored goals, 5 assists) Elephant Town FC (South Newlandia) PENALTYS
Simon McCabe debuted in the World Cup Qualifiers 85, and he got a start almost instantly. He is also responsible for penalties. At 31 years old, he may already be past his strongest days, but he is a force to be dealt with. However, his age sometimes leads him to being too slow or making some easier mistakes now and then. He is probably playing his last international tournament as a starter, and wants to leave with a good impression.

Substitutes:
South Newlandian soccer teams typically rotate quite a bit, with most of the bench players seeing a bit of action throughout a tournament.

GK: #33 Rufus Rigby (22 years old) (6 matches played, 7 conceded goals, 0 assists) Ruditown Guards (South Newlandia)
Rufus Rigby usually is the main replacement for Mikhail Trischuk. He debuted in the Baptism of Fire, and experience is the only thing separating him from Trischuk. He had some chances to prove himself recently, like in the Campionato Esportiva, but he will be back to the bench for now because the results weren’t exactly ideal, and Trischuk is a very capable goalkeeper.

GK: #12 Abdullah Rowley (31 years old) (0 matches played) Malta FC (Indusse)
Despite being on the team since the Baptism of Fire, Abdullah Rowley has never played an international match for the Elephants. Both Trischuk and Rigby are stronger goalkeepers than him, but in an emergency, he will be ready. He has moved to Indusse in an attempt to live new adventures, as his career will come near its end eventually.

LB: #62 John Li (20 years old) (14 matches played, 1 scored goal, 0 assists) Setanggi (Kayangan)
John Li, a young South Newlandian talent, is a very interesting player. He has recently moved to Setanggi in Kayangan to make a name for him, and he started a few games in the Campionato Esportiva, and was playing a few games in the qualifiers, mostly as a substitute. Even though he is listed as Left Back, his main position is the Left Midfield, proving that Wolverine has opted for some flexibility on the bench.

CB: #97 Mike Slaoh (24 years old) (7 matches played, 0 scored goals, 0 assists) Jagomir City (South Newlandia)
Mike Slaoh is a young defender from the second tier side of Jagomir City. He isn’t bad, and probably the best player for Jagomir, but we doubt he can be good enough to play for the national team more often. He did start a few successful games in the Campionato Esportiva, and had a few games as a substitute in the qualifiers, but he has to be considered the fourth alternative for the Center Backs.

CB: #30 Manuel O’Neill (33 years old) (31 matches played, 0 scored goals, 0 assists) Royal Puncakpura (Eraman)
Manuel O’Neill is the oldest player of the squad at 33. As he is ageing, he will probably retire in the next years. Until then, he moved to a top team in Eraman, and hopes to have a nice end to his career. He used to start as a Center Back, and was briefly playing as Right Back for the team, with not that much success. He can be an important voice of guidance, but this is likely his last tournament.

RB: #26 Marcel Qiong (24 years old) (0 matches played) FC Rüsselsheim (South Newlandia)
Qiong is one of two new players in the team, and he isn’t really known yet. He is playing for Rüsselsheim, and had a decent season, but his nomination is mostly due to a lack of good Right Backs in South Newlandia.

DM: #23 Yoshi Kaperrama (18 years old) (0 matches played) Sophie City Royals (South Newlandia)
Kaperrama is the other new player in the team. The eighteen year old might be the solution to the South Newlandian problems on his position. Of course he still has to learn a lot, and he is rumoured to leave the country at the next possibility.

LM: #19 Donald Lancaster (22 years old) (28 matches played, 2 scored goals, 3 assists) Walstreim Lions (South Newlandia)
Donald Lancaster is one of the players that already played for the Elephants during the Baptism of Fire, and is the main replacement for Corban Green. He will have to fight to get past Green, but a championship in South Newlandia and solid games in the qualifiers might improve his chances.

RM: #15 Marcus Young (20 years old) (2 matches played, 0 scored goals, 2 assists) Ratzupalfu FC (South Newlandia)
Young is another talent we haven’t seen before. The talented Midfielder had two games with a few minutes in the qualifiers, and has been impressing with solid results in the second South Newlandian tier, but he isn’t expecting to get a lot of time on the pitch.

OM: #16 Abdurahman Bishop (23 years old) (27 matches played, 3 scored goals, 3 assists) Jecken Newport (South Newlandia)
Abdurahman Bishop joined the team for the World Cup Qualifiers 85, and he fought with Finnley Wallis for the start in offensive midfield. Wallis won. The 23 year old is still lacking experience, but he may be a solid alternative to Finnley Wallis. He is definitely the second option for the position, and will probably surpass Wallis eventually, just not now. Currently, he is often subbed in as an offensive alternative. With Weiss not making the roster this time, he might be getting some chances this time.

ST: #50 Michael Glossman (26 years old) (16 matches played, 2 scored goals, 1 assists) Kinjestad Soccer (South Newlandia)
At 26 years old, he is in the prime of his career, but he only got selected for the Cup of Harmony 77. He recently had pretty mediocre results, and is looking to prove that he belongs in the first eleven, likely also with a move abroad. He is rapidly declining despite being relatively young, and will need a coach to get him back on a more solid path.

ST: #48 Bjorn Cohen (21 years old) (19 matches played, 5 scored goals, 4 assists) Jecken Newport (South Newlandia)
Cohen missed the Qualifiers injured, but he is back now, as Mada is the injured player now. He used to be a great prospect, but frequent injuries have been troublesome for him. He is looking to get as many games as he can now, and maybe join the first eleven again.

Setting: At the game after the 1-0 win against Megistos

The Stove walks into the dressing room, fuming.

Stove: I hear that we're not playing in Sylestone for this Cup of Harmony! We have to go to Eth... Ethen... Ethane or whatever it's called. Why can't we just stay here!

Toilet: I've spent my whole life here. I remember touring Ethane on that friendly we did a little while back. We all enjoyed the place for what it was.

Stove: But we could just stay here.

Toilet: But we're not. Besides you can blow stuff up there with your sparks, how fun?

Stove: Fun, I agree. Fine, we'll do it.

Toilet: Anyway, back to the discussion.

The Stove sits down, still not extremely happy while the Toilet gestures to the Toaster to continue.

Toaster: So we've been drawn into Group E, the undoubted group of death of this entire Cup of Harmony. Krytenia, Xanneria, Twicetagria, The Jovannic, Tikariot and Murphtannia are our groupmates. We have an advantage, though. We have played four of those sides, and we have been invited to Twicetagria's invitational football cup. That effectively makes five, although not yet. That leaves us with Murphtannia, the Pot 7 side. So we'll go through them one-by-one, now.
We'll start with Krytenia. They are Potty 1. Very, very good. But hang on, we beat them in the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy, didn't we! So why can't we do it again? They'll be good, but we can do this.
Now for Xanneria. We played these guys last Cup of Harmony and lost 3-2 to them. However, we were up 2-1 at half-time and their final goal was deep into injury time. We can do this.
Twicetagria. We're going there later this year. Great side, though. We'll have to try our hardest to even score in this game. They've got a strong lineup that could take them all the way.
Now we have the Jovannic. Although they're Pot 4 after a brilliant run in the World Cup Qualifications, we literally beat them 3-2 just the other day. In our four encounters, we've gone 2-1-1, so I think we can take them. But we'll have to work our arses off.
Tikariot our the Pot 5 side, who are a rising force, coming third in their WCQ group. We lost 1-0 to them a couple of weeks ago, so, unfortunately, they might be a bit of a challenge. But we've taken them before, so why not again? We'll have to play our best, though.
Finally, we have Murphtannia. They might be Pot 7 in the group of death, but they will be punching above their weight, likely taking out a few of the top sides. They are 28 ranks below us, but we can't get too complacent.
So there we are. Now we just have to stay here and wait for Yuezhou to arrive for their friendly. Then we're off to Ethane.
Football: WC94 Qualifiers, CE35&36 semifinalists
Cricket: GCF WT20 XVI champions, ODI WT II semifinalists, GCF WT20 XV semifinalists, EspoT20 I&II champions

Snow Wolves head to Sylestone for Cup of Harmony

The slightly new kits – still blue and white, but with a pattern of stripes added – suited the slightly new look Græntfjall team that departed from Háttmark Airport today, ahead of their return to competitive football after the heartbreak of the play-off defeat in Quebec that ended their World Cup dreams. The team will be based in Kirkham on the tropical isle of Sylestone for their Cup of Harmony ‘Group A’ games, and have been taking part in hot-weather conditioning over the winter break as they look beyond the bitter taste of defeat lingering from Quebec and forge a positive new story in the competition. “We’re definitely looking forward to getting back into action,” said central midfielder Hrærekur Jvarsson.

The team will be without the services of veteran defender Vilbjörn Hjörleifursson, but a cluster of talented younger center backs will be competing to nail down his number 4 shirt. Justiina Dannysdóttir is also a welcome return to the team after missing the second half of World Cup qualifying with an ankle sprain. She showed no sign of injury during a spirited public practice session last week, and should form a key strike partnership with Gunzlach ace Jason Þórhallursson, whose future in the upcoming transfer window remains uncertain after manager Lars Hartmannsson, who had previously reassured worried Gunners’ fans that the star goal-scorer would remain with the club, himself abruptly signed a contract to become assistant head coach of the Tikariot national team…

BAN THIS SICK FILTH NOW!
Cowardly coach flees Gunners for foreign dosh

Gunzlach FC was left REELING last night with news that hot on the heels of their EMBARRASSING collapse in last season’s GPL, coach Lars Hartmannsson has FLED to neighboring Tikariot. Hartmannson oversaw the Gunners’ PATHETIC capitulation to finish a MISERABLE third behind hot-shot rivals Steinaux (and some other team) and now his CHICKENS have come home to roost as he has been named assistant head coach of the Tikariot national team. Rather than FACE THE MUSIC the weasely Hartmannsson has decided to chase the lure of overseas cash and repaid Gunzlach for BRAVELY sticking by him despite his COMICAL failure to achieve any real success with THE Gunners.

Hartmannsson is just the latest TRAITOR to flee the White Winter shores in search of FILTHY foreign lucre. Suspected COMMUNIST Sara Kristoffersdóttir has declared her intention to play abroad, leaving Fliserboding fans in TEARS. GOOD RIDDANCE we say. But many are asking where this EXODUS of talent will end as more and more players decide they’d rather play in fancy foreign leagues than GRAFT in Græntfjall like HERO Vilbjörn Hjörleifursson who recently retired after 20 seasons in Græntfjaller football without once trying to FERRET away to some other country…

Proportionate concern as Chessmen snubbed by national selectors

Altendalur FC say they are “disappointed” that despite winning last season’s GPL title, they have been all but excluded from national selection for the forthcoming Cup of Harmony. The statement released on the club’s website does not mention any player by name, but is believed to be a reaction to the dropping of both Ásgautur Johannesson and Andrin Franklínsson from the squad. Both saw limited playing time during the World Cup, with Johannesson unable to surpass Emeli Vilbertsdóttir at left-back and Franklínsson losing his starting role at right midfield to Bríana Noahsdóttir. The sole Altendalur representation on the squad comes in the form of Tom Ernestisson, a center back who has already been granted leave to seek a transfer in the next international transfer window. “He wasn’t even considered for selection while he wore the black-and-white,” said one source close to the thinking of current Altendalur manager Auno Laurinsson. “The only way he could get picked was by saying he’d leave the club, which just proves what we’ve been saying.”

The Háttmark bias seemingly evident in a squad heavy on Gunzlach and Steinaux names has infuriated Altendalur players and supporters, who believe systemic anti-Western prejudice is at work. Lilly Wolfgangsdóttir, Lilly Wolfgangsdóttir and Benedikt Nilsson are among the names that were floated among potential national team selections ahead of the announcement, but none have made the cut. A particular fear among club faithful is that such snubs will drive young players away from the Altendalur youth system, or – as with Ernestisson – lead to established first teamers trying to secure foreign transfers. “We can’t attract, grow, or maintain talent,” said supporters’ club vice-president Mortan Alfredsson, “If the big-wigs in the capital are sending everyone the message loud and clear that the fastest way to not get selected for the national team is to pull on a chequered shirt.” A KG spokesman denied any bias, saying that “the team was selected from the many outstanding options available without regard to such issues”…
