In the broadest sense, the general theme of the Cayucan Armed Forces (and by relationship, the nation's intelligence community) is that they excel in the defensive rather than the offensive. The support over the combat, the small-scale over the large-scale.


In both the civilian and military, Cayucas has historically maintained one of the world's most effective counterintelligence operations. Its counterintelligence and defensive reconnaissance operations are what secured Cayucan sovereignty in the face of potential takeovers from the nation's larger neighbors in its early history. These operations and their operatives were also vital in securing the nation's political integrity when it was challenged in the 20th century to today. In intelligence operations focused primarily on defending the nation, Cayucan operatives are among the world's best. In contrast, its operations attempting to directly advance Cayucan interests can be lacking at best. This is not to say Cayucan intelligence operations on foreign soil are at a direct disadvantage, but it is to say once their objectives go beyond defending Cayucan assets as they currently stand, operatives find themselves more at the disadvantage.

On the strategic level, the Cayucan Armed Forces is reputed in its naval and marine operations. Cayucas tends to have an edge on naval technology, but its an advantage that extends to its competence in strategy as well. As a maritime nation with little need to focus its defenses on land operations, the bulk of military operations and strategy have been focused on the seas, storming beaches, and operating relatively close to the shores. Cayucan officers often take the helm in coalitions which demand for maritime operations, even when they're working with the nation's larger neighbors like the US. On the other hand, the nation's strength and strategy operating in-land tends to be more lacking. Its air force is competent and respectable, but its army notably lacks attention. When operations go deep in-land, Cayucas tends to hand off the leadership to countries with more experienced armies.

On the tactical level in land, the Cayucan military is at its best in small and tight operations. The nation's special forces and leadership on the smaller unit level are respected, well trained, and sought for. Military offensive operations to attack and secure beachheads, urban areas, and dense woods are where the military's training and leadership shine the most. Cayucas is host to international military exercises aiming to train and refine the tactics of military companies down to the singular soldier level. On the flip side though, the military's land forces lack experience and skill in large and roomy operations. This isn't to say Cayucas is incapable of maintaining and securing long logistic lines or that command suffers on the strategic level of winning a war. But it is to say that when a singular battle involves commanding total unit sizes larger than the division level, the military is at a disadvantage. When there isn't foreign leadership to back them up, Cayucan land base military leadership can find themselves at a disadvantage in wide charges on plains, large and fast tank battles, or offensives through shallow wetland or farmland.

Hmmm, thanks for the question. What does our military excel at?..

I would say our ingenuity. Since our code of ethics, beliefs, religion (You name it) make it clear that the harming, and furthermore the harvesting of flora, such as trees, flowers or grasses is completely illigal, we've always had to make do with our society being fully reliant on resources obtained from the earth, such as minerals and ores, or animals. For example, our rifles (Otherwise known as 'metal crossbows') are made of iron, and bone instead of wood.

The limitations that we have naturally means we are quick to find solutions to our problems. This includes when we are fighting others. No matter what situation our soldiers may face, they will always attempt to find a way to resolve the issue.
I'm sure that this may not be as precise of an answer as you may have wanted, but to be honest, our military is overall much more modest than other nations.
