OOC here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=491403

Karachi, Pakistan
A few days ago, Latif Salih was a cadet at the Pakistani Naval Academy. As the country descended into chaos, he found himself no longer training to be a ship's crew, but rather being forced into fighting. When the Marines showed up at the Academy and started handing out rifles, he didn't have much of a choice. They couldn't just leave on ships, they had to fight out of the city in order to get out of the newly independent nation of Sindh and get back to what's left of Pakistan. But Karachi was a big city, and no Navy personnel had managed to get far from their bases despite naval gun support, and air support from Pakistani Navy operated Mirage 5s and JF-17s of the Pakistani Air Force that were able to reach the city from their bases to the north. The army was bogged down in fighting along the front, and had to take troops off the front to deal with a Sikh insurgency and an Islamic State affiliate. The Navy was essentially on their own in Karachi.

In the street, Latif heard the rumbling of a diesel engine. Sindhi forces were moving up a tank. One of his fellow cadets turned soldiers yelled at Latif to grab the RPG-7. He did so, and left the building, an apartment building with shops on the ground floor, in order to hunt down the tank along with a second man carrying additional rockets for the RPG. In the street, a T-80 was advancing, flanked by infantry. Latif wasn't able to bring the RPG to bear in time and the infantry engaged. The two men ducked back into the building, pinned down by enemy fire.

Down the street, the tank rotated its turret to face the apartment building. A sound of thunder echoed through the street as the tank fired its main gun, putting a high explosive shell through a window on the second floor of the building. Latif was knocked unconscious by the blast. When he awoke, he'd find himself in a hastily constructed POW holding area.

Elsewhere in Pakistan
The frontline in the north was starting to close in on the city of Hyderabad, not to be confused with the much larger city in India it shares a name with. This was also to be a site where Dayganistan would start to establish its peacekeeping presence, hoping to establish a safe zone where civilians can flee the battlespace.

To facilitate this, helicopters and transport aircraft were busy making flights to and from the airport to the south of the city. They were ferrying in an ad-hoc brigade combat team headed by the 32nd Airborne Brigade, as well as supporting elements. As air force ground crews unloaded infantry mobility vehicles from transport aircraft, combat engineers were busy filling Hesco barriers, or digging out gun pits in the empty fields east of the airfield which will soon be manned by CAESER self-propelled howitzers. The howitzers wouldn't exactly scream "peacekeeping," but the brigade combat team commander, Brigadier General Reza Hosseini, had requested them in case of an attack on the safe zone.

In his command tent, Brigadier General Hossieni surveyed satellite imagery of the area. The airport was a good place for a base of operations, but the force would need a presence elsewhere. He identified a highway interchange to the north of the city, and ordered a company of paratroopers to move to that location and dig in defensive positions. On the opposite bank of the Indus River was another highway which would need to be defended as well. Another company of paratroopers was dispatched there, to set up defensive positions in a patch of empty desert just to the north of an industrial area.

The Brigadier General, an older man with a greying beard, was visibly frustrated as he looked at his satellite photos and maps of the area. He had his entire airborne brigade at his disposal, plus supporting forces. The combat engineers fortifying the airfield could be pressed into an infantry role if needed. But even with his force, there were just too many places to secure. He had to establish a defensive perimeter around Hyderabad, as well as get patrols out to the nearby towns and villages in the hopes of discouraging hostile action on the part of either party. He would need to spread his troops thin to do both. He sighed. It would be easier when the armored infantry brigade combat team he was supposed to work alongside arrived, but unfortunately it took a lot longer to move tanks and tracked IFVs than paratroopers and MRAPs.

Meanwhile, near Karachi, the 2nd battalion of the 14th Commando Brigade was establishing their own positions near the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant. Their mission, for the time being, was to defend the power plant from any potential hostile action. A simple task for the time being, as neither side fighting in Karachi had much to gain from sabotaging the power plant. They would just lose electricity for themselves. The bigger concern was terrorists infiltrating the power plant in order to steal material to make dirty bombs. The commandos questioned their mission to defend the power plant. The prevailing attitude among the troops was that this was more of a mission for regular infantry or military police. However, when the battalion commander briefed his men, it became clear that they were being forward deployed to eventually enter Karachi. Soon, military police would, in fact, take their positions around the power plant and battalion would move to enter the city, reinforced by a mechanized infantry battalion. The commandos were justifiably nervous. The fighting in Karachi had, thus far, been portrayed as particularly desperate and these men and women were being asked to step into the crossfire.

Official Statement from the Free Kingdom of Allanea on the Crisis in Pakistan

For many years, the government of Pakistan has played with fire. It had encouraged some of the most dangerous elements within Pakistan, attempting to use them as pawns to support a geopolitical agenda. This has inevitably lead to the situation we have today, the splitting of Pakistan in a terrifying civil conflict, which has already cost thousands of innocent lives, and shall doubtless cost thousands of more lives. To a large extent, this is the result of exactly the sort of irresponsible internal policies that the Free Kingdom of Allanea has time and time again warned against.

The Free Kingdom of Allanea will not stand idly by as myriads perish. The Free Kingdom of Allanea will not stand idly by as terrorists and human traffickers run rampant. The Free Kingdom of Allanea will not stand idly by and allow weapons of mass destruction to fall into the hands of terror groups. Nor will we allow the years of progress in eradicating poliomyelitis and malaria, hunger and homelessness, to be set back simply because of the incompetence and malice of a few.

We ask, therefore, that the government of Dayganistan accept our assistance in this endeavor. For this purpose , we are requesting your permission to deploy, in Dayganistan, near the Dayganistani-Pakistani border, a military ground contingent of approximately 1,750 combat personnel, as well as some truck transport battalions and a field hospital. The aid personnel will be EMERCOM troops specializing in aiding refugees, distributing vaccinations, and the like. The military personnel shall partake in counter-terrorism and counter-trafficking operations jointly with the Dayganistani military. We will also operate 10 flights per day from Khanabad to Liberty-City airlifting any Pakistani refugees, regardless of ethnicity or faith, who wish to depart).

Simultaneously with this offer, we are deploying the FKS Sea Hawk and its escorts to the Arabian Sea. We are requesting in advance your permission to allow aircraft lifting from the Sea Hawk to fly over Dayganistani air space as part of our operations.

May God protect Dayganistan.

May he forever continue to bless Allanea.

Official Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Dayganistan
Dayganistan welcomes the assistance being offered by the Allaneans. We would certainly not be up to the task of restoring order to Pakistan on our own. Already, our commanders on the ground complain of their forces being spread too thin. With you assistance, we believe we can work to restore stability to the nation much more quickly, preventing a humanitarian crisis of proportions the world has yet to see.

To this effect, Dayganistan will allow the deployment of Allanean forces and open our airspace to Allanean aircraft.

Mardan Air Base
A group of 10 aviators sat in a briefing room. Before them stood an officer, an older, clean shaven man with thinning hair, preparing to give a briefing.

"Ladies and gentlemen," the officer began, "We are sending you on a very important mission. This is not a drill. As you know, Pakistan has descended into civil conflict. Pakistan is also in control of a considerable nuclear weapons stockpile, as well as facilities to produce weapons grade nuclear material. We cannot allow nuclear weapons or nuclear material to fall into the wrong hands. If the Islamic State affiliates in Pakistan, or terrorist groups in our own country, were to get a hold of nuclear weapons as a result of this conflict, the results would be disastrous. We also do not fully trust the Pakistani government not to resort to the nuclear option. To prevent these possibilities, we will begin strikes to limit Pakistan's nuclear capability."

A projector screen behind the officer switched to a satellite image of a facility somewhere in Pakistan.

"This is our target, the Khushab Nuclear Facility. This is where Pakistan produces weapons grade nuclear material. Eliminating this cannot destroy their nuclear capability completely, but it can prevent them from making more weapons. This strike operation will have two components. The first will be five ships led by Captain Latifi. She will lead you on a wild weasel strike against Pakistani air defence. Captain Latifi's flight will also be equipped with air to air missiles to conduct air superiority operations once they have expended their anti-radiation missiles. The second flight will be led by Captain Khalilzai. They will be the ones responsible for striking the facility, and their aircraft will be equipped with cruise missiles which have be pre-programmed with targets. You will be supported by an AWACS, callsign Stormcloud."

While preparing for the mission, Captain Anahita Latifi wondered why she was chosen to lead the suppression of air defence mission. She was the less experienced pilot than Captain Khalilzai and had just been promoted, yet he got the easier mission of firing cruise missiles. But, that was probably precisely why. The air force was more willing to expend a less experienced pilot. It wasn't her place to question orders anyway. She had to do what she was told. And as a woman in the armed forces, she had an example to set. By now she had finished putting on her flight suit and brushing her artificially blonde, pixie cut hair flat against her head so as not to be uncomfortable under her flight helmet, so she picked up her helmet and went outside to her aircraft.

Captain Latifi inspected the exterior of her F/A-18 Super Hornet. Like the other four Super Hornets under her command, her aircraft had been equipped with four AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missiles, four AIM-120 AMRAAMs, two AIM-9X Sidewinders, and an external fuel tank. Satisfied with her exterior inspection, Captain Latifi climbed in the cockpit of her fighter and ran through her pre-flight checklist. Within minutes, she was taxiing to the runway along with the other aircraft under her command. She lined up on the runway and waited for the ATC to give her the all clear, before taking off with full afterburner into the dark, pre-dawn sky.

Several minutes of flying later, Captain Latifi and the rest of her flight started detecting radar signatures of Pakistani air defence. "All aircraft, fire at will on any radar signatures," she said into her radio as she flipped the master arm switch in her cockpit. She locked up an enemy radar signature and fired one of her anti-radiation missiles.

"Magnum," she said into her radio, the brevity code for an anti-radiation missile. There was a chorus of the rest of her flight doing the same as they fired their own missiles. Soon, several radar signatures disappeared. The flight repeated their process, radar signatures again disappearing but this time more radar warning alarms started going off in their cockpits as they got closer. The pilots were in the process of repeating this a third time when they were interrupted by a radio transmission.

"All aircraft, this is AWACS Stormcloud. Pakistani Air Force is scrambling to intercept. Looks like six JF-17s."

Captain Latifi already had a radar signature locked up and fired a third anti-radiation missile, prompting the rest of her flight to do the same. "You guys heard the AWACS. Fire your last anti-radar missile and prepare to engage Pakistani fighters. They're probably equipped for BVR so be prepared."

The fighters quickly locked radar signatures and fired their last missiles. Captain Latifi switched her fighter's systems to air to air mode. Almost immediately, the radar picked up the Pakistani fighters. She selected her AMRAAMs and started to lock one of the Pakistani fighters, which were already locking them as well.

"They just fired a missile at me," a panicked voice from one the pilots came through Captain Latifi's radio. She recognized it as 2nd Lieutenant Sadat, a newer pilot who had recently been assigned to the squadron. Captain Latifi looked in the direction of Sadat's aircraft to see him popping countermeasures and performing an evasive maneuver. Latifi had one of the Pakistani aircraft locked already, and the Pakistani fighters had already fired on them. Now it was their turn to fire back.

"Fox Three," Latifi said as an AMRAAM flew from her aircraft and into the distance. Her own aircraft soon started warning her of an incoming missile, so she took evasive maneuvers of her own. The rest of the aircraft started doing the same and they entered a beyond visual range fight with the Pakistanis, who were attempting to close to dogfighting range.

A ways behind the action, Captain Khalilzai lead his aircraft to their weapons release point. Each of his five Super Hornets were equipped with two AGM-84H SLAM-ER cruise missiles.

"All aircraft, release," Khalilzai said into his radio. His five aircraft fired their cruise missiles, and turned to return to base.

"Strike package has completed their mission, RTB," Khalilzai said over his radio. Latifi heard the transmission while still in the fight with Pakistani aircraft. The Pakistanis had just launched another volley of missiles. This time, 2nd Lieutenant Sadat would not be as lucky and while he didn't take a direct hit, the missile's proximity fuze showered his fighter with shrapnel. The aircraft was visibly damaged, trailing smoke.

"Sadat, bug out now. We have you covered," Latifi said as she locked up a Pakistani aircraft again and fired another missile. Sadat's fighter turned away from the fight, back towards friendly territory. Meanwhile, Latifi spotted on her radar screen one of the Pakistani aircraft disappearing from the display. The other fighters started to retreat.

"This is AWACS Stormcloud. Confirmed splash on JF-17, other fighters are retreating."

Captain Latifi breathed a sigh of relief. She was able to complete a very dangerous mission, and keep everyone under he alive even if one of the planes wasn't so lucky. Planes were more replaceable than pilots anyway. She now had her first aircraft kill as well, a source of pride in an air force where few pilots have confirmed air to air kills. When she got back to base, she would get the ground crew to paint a small Pakistani flag under the canopy of her aircraft to record her air to air kill. She ordered her pilots to return to base. They all knew, however, the Pakistanis would not take kindly to an attack on a nuclear facility and the loss of one of their fighters. They would probably be back in action soon.

At the Khushab Nuclear Facility, the missiles struck their targets. Their targets had been selected in order to damage the facility to the point of being unusable, without causing a nuclear accident. By the time the dust from the explosion had settled, the reactor buildings had all been hit with such precision that while they would no longer be able to produce nuclear material, the reactors had no chance of melting down. As well, several administrative buildings had been hit. Fire crews started trying to fight the fires that had been set by the airstrikes, but Pakistan's ability to produce weapons grade nuclear material had been more or less eliminated.

Khanabad International Airport

The truth was, of course, that the first wave of the aid aircraft had already begun fueling and loading even as the diplomats were discussing the precise content of the press release to make on the Pakistani crisis. As soon as the government of Dayganistan issued their approval, the first wave of airplanes took off immediately. Quite soon, they would begin to land at the Khanabad International Airport.

In the first wave, Emergency Response Command sent forklifts, loadmasters, logisticians – to help Khanabad Airport personnel in unloading the aid planes. Soon enough the second wave would arrive, and the Allaneans wanted to be sure that it would be unloaded swiftly and efficiently. This second wave would bring about the full set of military hospital facilities – operating rooms, , imaging rooms, equipment stores – each contained in a standard shipping containers. From the airport, these would be moved near the border, where a location for Pelikannest IV had already been chosen.

In Queen Cassiopeia's office

"Brief me on the Pakistan situation." – said the Queen, raising a teacup to her lips. The tea was strong, nearly black – it was the beginning of a long day, and she knew she would need the boost.

"Your Imperial Majesty, satellite readings report a series of explosions at the Pakistani reactor facilities here, here, and here. We posit that this is an action by one of the neighboring states to disable Pakistan's ability to produce weapons of mass destruction, to prevent them from falling to Da'esh or some other group." – said the intelligence officer.

"Very excellent." – said Cassiopeia, and looked at General Kalugin. The scarred man who lead Allanea's intelligence services remained calm and poised. "General Kalugin, do we have any plan on helping with this worthy cause?"

"We absolutely do. We are getting the ducks in a row for this, but it is going to happen. My main concern about this is the roadmobile birds. Pakistan has several dozen, and in peacetime they were kept on the move at all times. Gods know what is happening right now."

"Do you have a plan?"

"As I just said, we need to get our ducks in a row. We are using satellites and Athenas to look for them. Hopefully we will find them before the Daesh scumbags do."

"Yes, there's always that." – said Cassiopeia. Then she turned to her friend, the Minister of War, and her expression softened. "Priscilla, what do you have for me?"

"The Sea Hawk has left harbor this morning. It will take some time for it to be in range. It's possible that we will use Strategic Air Command's assets to strike at some of the TELs if we can plot a safe route for them."

"I understand. You are authorized to use any and all means of your disposal. Now for my final question. Have you all read the report I sent out yesterday? Nizhinsky's report?"

All nodded. The report, from Peter Nizhinsky's office, on modern slavery in Pakistan, was hard reading indeed. It contained horrifying statistics and horrifying descriptions of the ordeals hundreds of thousands still faced, chained to the brick kiln or imprisoned in rock quarries across the mountainous nation.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I am not blind to realities. We cannot fix this country, and ensure there is no slavery in Pakistan at all, much as I would like that. However we can use this opportunity to free as many of the slaves as we can, and to teach the slavers some lessons about the sins of the unworthy and how they shall be baptized in blood and fire. General Kalugin…"

"Yes, Your Imperial Majesty?" – a cruel, sardonic smile appeared on the man's face. He could already guess what kind of orders he was going to be given. He would enjoy them.

"Get Spartacus."

الخلافة العباسية وسلطنة القاهرة
The Abbasid Caliphate and Sultanate of Qahira

Recognizing the dire situation in Pakistan, the Abbasid Caliphate and Sultanate of Qahira has deemed intervention necessary. This intervention shall take the form of peacekeeping and humanitarian aid. The Abbasid Caliphate and Sultanate of Qahira, to defend Muslims, restore Islamic rule, and uphold its caliphal legitimacy, approves an intervention in Pakistan.

Defending the Islamic population of Pakistan, the Abbasid Caliphate and Sultanate of Qahira shall carry out an intervention. Pakistan is home to millions of Muslims, comprising the majority of its population. Islamic State fighters seek to purify Islamic populations of what they deem as kufr, while the Sikh and Hindu insurgents are non-Muslim. Due to the nature of these insurgencies, it becomes clear that there is a major threat to the Muslims of Pakistan.

Restoring Islamic rule, the Abbasid Caliphate and Sultanate of Qahira shall help defeat the insurgents. The Abbasid Caliphate and Sultanate of Qahira denounces the Sindh insurgency, believing that its citation of a majority Hindu population as cause for independence as implications that they desire to be separated from Islamic rule. As such, the conflict has been recognized as a fitnah and the Sindh insurgency has been takfired. The Abbasid Caliphate and Sultanate of Qahira shall eliminate the Sindh insurgency and restore the government of Pakistan in the name of Islam.

Upholding the legitimacy if its own caliphal claims, the Abbasid Caliphate and Sultanate of Qahira shall eradicate the so-called "Islamic State" fighters present in Pakistan. The so-called "Islamic State" insurgency claims itself to be the one true caliphate, which conflicts with the Abbasid Caliphate's own claims to the title. Furthermore, the apocalyptic and eschatologic ideology of the Islamic State and their intended harm directed at Islamic populations has been deemed un-Islamic; and they have been declared kafirun by the Abbasid Caliphate and Sultanate of Qahira. To reaffirm that it is the one true caliphate, the Abbasid Caliphate and Sultanate of Qahira shall eradicate the "Islamic State" wherever it may be found.

Declaring that with these factors in mind, the insurgents are deemed a threat to Islam. To defend Islam, the Abbasid Caliphate and Sultanate of Qahira hereby declares intent to carry out peacekeeping operations and humanitarian aid. To carry out this task, a task force with an attached regiment of marines as well as humanitarian aid workers and supplies has been formed and dispatched to execute Operation Masab Nahr al-Andus (Operation Indus Estuary).

Arabian Sea

Off the coast of Pakistan, a task force splits off from the al-Muhiit al-Hindii Fleet. This task force consists of a single Misr Class Carrier, alongside a single Bahrain Class Commando Carrier, a single al-Qahira Class Stealth Guided Missile Destroyer, four al-Baghdad Class Stealth Guided Missile Frigates, one nuclear attack submarine, four tank landing ships, four medium landing ships, one replenishment & oiler ship, and one hospital ship. AEW&C helicopters take off, performing reconnaissance to ensure that there were no naval or aerial threats to the task group in the vicinity. Similarly, the nuclear attack submarine performed the task of ensuring that there would be no submarine threat to the task force. While it was unlikely that the Sindh insurgency had acquired naval, aerial, or god forbid, submarines, it was better to be safe than sorry.

The Masab Nahr al-Andus Task Group avoids combat, but remains capable of direct military intervention for the sake of peacekeeping.

She sat opposite Deputy Director Fernand Kirchner. She was on a first name basis with him, as he had come up through the ranks at the same time as her to get his spot just below the infamous Director Xavier Marchand. It had been on the table for her before, but she had passed up the opportunities that would have gotten her in that seat, as they would also limit her field time to zero. Now, as time crept up on her, she wondered often if she had made the right choices. Not just career-wise, but in life.

“Pakistan, eh? So, Fred, this is pretty straight forward asset recovery?”

“At least for the first part of the mission, Anna. That is the primary. That’s right.”

She pushed at her hair unconsciously as she leaned forward, then remembered she had put it up in a bun.
“What is the other part?”

Fred was not always verbose, even when it was somewhat required during a pre-op briefing. Knowing him as long as she did, she saw the briefest of flashes of annoyance cross his eyebrows, then it was gone. Most would miss it.
“It’s all there in the mission brief docket, Anna…”

“I’m asking you right now, Fred.”

“The other part will be trying to turn future assets from both local forces and intervening foreign forces. (Recruit double agents) That will be ongoing. We will keep feeding you more immediate missions as they arise. Surveillance missions and picking up any loose intel for the taking. Likely more asset recovery ops, but possible asset and target elimination, too. Could be anything. This is a double-two red.”

“Fuck. This could be a while then?”

“We’re not going to leave you out there indefinitely, no. Three weeks tops, then we’ll have another team ready to sub-in. Piece-meal until a decent transition is established. There are some limited assets already in country. You will also have some support from over the border. We can’t risk flying in now, hopefully that will change later. So yeah, scope out as many border crossings as possible so we can exfil assets and your team, if need be. We have a couple ready, but you know how that goes…”

“They could be compromised by the time we get there, or soon after.”

“Exactly.”

“These are the team dossiers?”
There was a stack of files at the corner of the table. Due to the nature of such missions, they wouldn’t be uploaded into digital format on her GXT tablet, even though it was heavily encrypted and secure.
The room was pretty stark, otherwise. It was not DD Kirchner’s regular office, which was over in the Intexa HQ, like Anna’s and much of the analyst section and regular briefing rooms. The Intexa was the support arm for the USGSC regiments. They did everything from supply and logistics, recruitment, legal, contracting, among other specialties, and also intelligence operations. While their HQ was separate from the main USG HQ Ops Center in Campobello on the Island, they often had to make the short walk to meet over here to access certain files and when it involved frontline personnel from the regiments.
“So then you got us some muscle from the regiments, I take it? Or we probably wouldn’t be over here.”

“Yes. Again, it’s all in the dossiers, Anna...Kingfisher, Tag, and Quail will be on the team, then some guys from Zeta Co, Schwyz Regiment, then some allied personnel I don’t have much on…”

“Hold on! Wait. Allied as in local client or Guild?”

“Guild.”

“Fuck! This isn’t GTRF again?”
GTRF was the Guild Tactical Response Force, a combined effort of all the member PMCs of the Guild to pool personnel for missions. It had met mixed success. GTRF kinetic action teams were still utilized, but covert and intelligence ops had been retired, having not quite been as effective as hoped. Anna had done a couple GTRF missions and was not keen on them for various reasons.

“No, not by name, but similar, yes. Simply, we don’t always have enough field officers to go around, so we are borrowing some from some Guild partners. Some expertise that we can’t field in-house, so we’re gonna sub-contract. Not sure what’s so difficult about that, Anna…”

“Who else besides Intexa and the Zeta company guys?”

“An Axalon man.”
Axalon was a PMC registered in Aquitayne.

“Okay.”

“Some Myrmidon contractors.”

“Wait...what?! Aren’t they just glorified bodyguards?”
Myrmidon was a Port Emberian close protection security service.

“No, they have personnel who perform other services. Look, Anna, I’ve given you enough griping room, but I am your boss. You need to just move forward here. Read the dossiers. All the info you need is in there…”

“I’m going to take them back to my office to read…”

“They don’t leave this room. Study up.”
She had expected that, but had to give it a shot.

“You have a dossier on our first asset to recover?”

“Yes, sitting there on top of the team dossiers. You have any more questions, save them until I get back from a meeting. Read up. Grab a beverage now if you need it or a bathroom break, then settle in.”

She did both.

“I’ll be back in about 40 minutes. Plenty of time. Then you can ask your incessant questions.”
He really disliked a lot of questions.

Then Fred exited and closed the vault door behind him.

Anna had an emergency code to punch into the keypad and get out, but she would have a lot of explaining to do and hassle if she actually used it.
She pulled her mug of tea near, for a prime parking spot just off and up from her right shoulder.
Next she grabbed the stack of dossiers and pulled them closer to start reading and memorizing. The first one on top was the first asset they needed to recover and smuggle back out the border…

Bio:

Anna spent her early years in the mountains surrounding Ciavno, Tavino canton in Neu Engollon. After rising to the top of her class in criminal law at Burgunden University and graduating with a master with honors, she went on to get an entry level job with NESA (Neu Engollon Security Agency) as an analyst. Tiring of that position, she applied for field work, keeping herself in top physical shape which translated well for field training.

Her aptitude for field work was a bit of a shock to her superiors who didn’t often put women into those types of slots at the time. She rose through the ranks to become a top field officer in just 3 years. After a mission overseas where everything went wrong, yet Kestrel did everything she could to help it from going south, she found herself the scapegoat and drummed out of the Agency.

A year later, at a high point of despair, she got an offer from the Intexa to continue doing the work she did best, and expanding her scope of skill. She has again proved her worth, and without (most of) the layers of bureaucracy she once dealt with in her previous job. One mission that has stuck with her has been Operation Gold Lion, another joint Guild operation.

She is the leader of the mission. Her primary mission is to keep the teams on track. Their secondary missions will be ever changing, so she has to keep up and re-task her people to keep on the right target.

Weaponry:
While many Neu Engollians are trained to use and comfortable with the Talon Magnum II, a pistol manufactured by NEDI as a copy of the defunct Coeli Concínnant version, and a NEK Mk 5 blade, both are much too readily identifiable if found on a captured field officer, negating any need for questions about origin. Hence while the USG Security Corporation and its support arm Intexa don’t mind former Neu Engollians carrying them on a regular combat mission, they are seldom seen on undercover field officers.

So...Anna usually packs a Glock 19 and a Gerber tactical folding knife when on mission in country and is well trained to use both. Often she’ll carry more than one knife, sometimes a Cold Steel if not Gerber, as it is easy to lose one in the heat of battle. When more lead needs to be thrown downrange, she relies on the Steyr TMP. While she has assault rifle training, and can pick up any on the battlefield for use, it’s not usually practical for her to carry one into a mission AO and remain discreet.

Equipment:
Aside from some other essential items needed by a field operative, Kestrel’s most valuable piece of equipment is a GXT 4 mini tablet for secure communications, map files, cultural data and files and anything else at her fingertips. While the GXT is a Schwyz Defense Systems (Neu Engollian company) model battle hardened tablet, there are few like it made to be used out in the field, so it is quite common with field agents around the multiverse.
It is heavily encrypted, and when the wrong codes and fingerprints are consistently entered, it turns into a fancy steel alloy encased, fried circuit board filled, plastic hammer or fly swatter. She will also have a M100X3 encrypted phone with special modifications made by the Intexa Quartermaster. Lastly, she will have a communication set with earpiece and receiver with a flesh colored cord connecting the two - a special Intexa device to communicate with the whole team. Every team member will have their own identical device.

Bio:

James was born in a dockside neighbourhood situated within Port Ember Megalopolis into a lower tier middle class family. His father owns a local wateringhole named simply "O'Malley's Pub", with his mother also being employed there until her death, when James was 16 years of age - losing her life after a long war against cancer. James and his younger brother - Johnny - grew up spending all their waking hours within school, upon the beach, or within their father’s pub. Having grown up in such an environment, James was conditioned from a young age to be accepting of violence and understanding the need for self confidence.

At age 18, directly after finishing school, he joined the Port Ember Security Forces in the name of seeking adventure and excitement. After two years excelling as an infantryman, James's passion and talent caught the eye of a Task Force 79 (Port Ember Special Forces) Recruiting Officer, who headhunted the young man relentlessly. James continued to excel and impress others within the Service for the next 13 years, rapidly rising to the rank of Captain, earning 4 medals for bravery and courage along the way, serving in hellholes and wars which his own nation knew nothing about.

According to James, what made him such a brilliant warrior, was the fact that his inseparable younger brother, Johnny, followed him into the Service and Task Force - often serving alongside one another. James continuously strived to be just a little better than his younger brother - who was a warrior prodigy in his own right - not wanting to be outshined, due to friendly sibling rivalry.

James's world came crashing down when his younger brother was killed in action, serving on a mission together, albeit not in the same team. Depression and alcohol abuse gripped James and he handed in his resignation with immediate effect.

Realising that he needed to pay the bills, and not wanting to get stuck in a deadbeat existence by working in his father's bar, and wishing to honor the legacy of his late brother, James gained employment with the Myrmidon Security Services, hoping to get his life back om track whilst honoring his brother.

Despite James's struggling war against alcohol abuse and depression, he is by far one of the most experienced and skilled gunslingers in Myrmidon's employment. He is an absolute brave heart during a firefight, and a well respected tactical leader.

Bio:

Victor ‘Mira’ Andromodov was born in the Aquitaynian overseas holding of Cape Town in 1976. Orphaned at a young age due to a severe car accident that killed both his parents, Mira was forced to bounce through different foster homes and care facilities until he reached the age of 18. His physical stature wasn’t much to be impressed of as a child, and he was often bullied and beaten by his peers. When he graduated primary school, he enlisted in the Foreign Legion as an Officer Candidate. The Legion put Mira through university and he graduated with a degree in international relations.

Once he was commissioned as an officer, he went through the Special Forces Selection Course and passed on his second attempt. Here he would gain much of the skills and knowledge that would lead him through the rest of his career. In 1999 he was promoted as an Intelligence Officer, combing through and actively gathering signals intelligence from across the world that would relate to direct-action missions and high-value targets for SOCOM. In 2007, Mira was recruited by the Office of Foreign Intelligence within His Majesty’s Royal Service, where he worked until he was medically discharged in 2019 due to a shrapnel wound from a grenade severing his femoral artery. After a year of rehabilitation and a few surgeries, Mira signed a contract with Axalon Security to become a Senior Intelligence Officer.

Weaponry:
Axalon provides weaponry native to the country the individual will be operating in, thus whatever the standard armaments for that area are is what he will be using.

Special Skills:
- CQC Tactics

- Translation & Advanced communication

Bio:

Tag grew up in a large family in a very rugged, wartorn Kashmir claimed by several powers of the area. His extended family never really threw in with any lot, even though Khalistan nationalists put the most pressure on their town. They did the best to live their lives no matter who declared control and what happened in the surrounding valleys. The family business was goat herding and they met many different groups in the surrounding area as they traded goat meat, milk, hooves and horns for other goods.

His brother, Mandrakhar Singh, was one of the few to leave from the family, first serving with the new Union, then going to private employ in one of the most famous private intelligence services in the world. Mandy became well respected within the Intexa. He saw the talent in his brother and brought him into the fold. Tag adapted quickly to his training and proved without a doubt that the talented Singh gene carried over to him, also.

While his military and field operative experience are valued, it is his aptitude for languages that really interested the Intexa. With such a strong base, it was not difficult for him to pick up the other languages of his region through some training at the Intexa Language Academy and contracted instructors.
The people skills came naturally as Singh often had contact with so many different cultures in Kashmir, including soldiers from the warring sides. Since then, it’s been experience in similar areas around the world in service of the Intexa that has informed his ability to translate and communicate so well.

Weaponry:

Ashani Mark II pistol with silencer
IR-46A5 PDW

Equipment:

GXP 6 Phone
Like the team leaders, Tag will be carrying a tablet, as well as other comms gear. The tablet is a battle hardened, reinforced and encrypted GXT 4, like Kestrel’s. It is loaded with cultural and linguistic data, to help Tag with dialects he might not be familiar with, even though he has a good grasp of many of them.

Special Skills:

- Nguni stick fighting
- Small Team Operations
- Demolitions, Ordnance handling

- Close Protection Operations

Bio:

Aluwan was born into the Nduoka tribe of Mubata, a former Gaulic colony turned authoritarian hellhole. He lived a very austere and stark existence in his formidable years, like many of his fellow nationals, but was resourceful and took advantage of opportunities that came up.

During his conscription period into the Republican Army of Mubata, his aptitude, speed, and agility earned him a quick selection into the Hyenas, the elite special operations force of Mubata.

He has a particular skill with demolitions, both setting and dismantling enemy charges.
While the Hyenas have seen combat against their Arabic neighbors Qasifya and Gragastavia, they most often saw action against their own countrymen, the MFM, or Mubatan Freedom Movement, a Marxist rebel organization that worked to throw off the Fazembe regime and institute a communist regime.

With the MFM decimated, the Hyenas were used against other factions in opposition to the Tizi, authoritarian government in Karalaga. Like many of his peers, Aluwan fast grew tired of suppressing his own people in service to the genocidal Tizis. He left to pursue opportunities elsewhere, but realized his main skills were warfighting. He found employ with the USG Security Corporation, one of the largest, infamous PMCs in the multiverse.

Weaponry:
Aluwan has expanded on his knowledge of demolitions, as well as anti-armor and anti-air munitions. He will serve as the teams’ AA and ATGM man, as well as demolitions, using whatever they are able to bring into Pakistan with them, or purchase on the black market.

Sparky often carries with him a variety of grenades, flash, smoke and anti-personnel. He carries an SP-7 pistol and often packs a NEG 26 carbine AR and the SMG 9 for close quarters.
He will often have a duffel bag full of explosive goodies.

Special Skills:
- CQC Tactics
- Marksman
- Reconnaissance/Surveillance
- Assault tactics
- Counter insurgency

Bio:

Qasifya has been through decades of struggle, but so has that whole part of the region.
Hasim’s family left Qasifya when he was young, during a particularly turbulent time when the QLA (Qasifyan Liberation Army) and allied warlords were stirring up trouble.
They were lucky enough to not be turned around at the border to Figuerroa, the colony of Prostoreich in Southern Tavlyria, but also already having some family in Das-Morda. They settled in and became loyal colonial subjects of Prostoreich.

Hasim did his term of conscription and decided that military life was for him. It was by chance that a former comrade came home and told him how much a soldier in private service could make in comparison to the very paltry salary of a Figuerroan soldier. He began making arrangements well before his term of conscription was even up.

Hasim was pulled for the mission from Zeta Company, Schwyz Regiment, like his squad sergeant ‘Dart’ Sauvine and ‘Sparky’. While he has had plenty of training in COIN, FID, and covert operations, this will be his first real mission, so he will be hanging on every word of the leadership of the team, as well as T-Sgt ‘Sparky’. While he prefers the handle ‘Mahkeel’, his comrades have taken to just calling him ‘Mike’.

Special Skills:
- CQC Tactics
- Marksman
- Reconnaissance/Surveillance
- Sniper School/Counter Sniper skills
- Battlefield First Aid

Bio:

Dart took the most typical route into the USGSC from the NEDF, although Neu Engollians aren’t the majority nationality in the PMC as of the last couple decades. He was certain he wanted to be career military, but like many of his countrymen, the prospect of a neutral, peacetime military wasn’t quite as exciting as he’d hoped. He transferred to the DGC, as they do tend to get deployed the most overseas, both in embassies and on special missions to rescue citizens and property. However, even those missions were few and far between and there was a lot of competition and politics between the DGC companies for those rare assignments.

For reasons he still can’t fully explain, his sense of duty to his country was overridden and he was lured to the private side like many of his peers and found fulfillment in the famous Schwyz Regiment. He is on loan to the Intexa from the Regiment, but quite used to doing covert insertions with Zeta Company, which specializes in commando operations.

He earned the nick ‘Dart’ because he is incredibly fast at setting up in a new position and is just rapid in action in general. He has also been called ‘Greyhound’ by some comrades because of his ability to stay dormant and sedentary for so long then snap into action at the drop of a pin.

Dart is a good field medic in a pinch, having patched himself up on more than one occasion. He’s not quite at the skill of Quail, but as a backup, he’s going to do just fine.

Bio:

Dagon was born into a family rich with history, being able to boast that every male in the family tree had served in some capacity of the Port Emberian Armed Forces for the last 200 years. His grandfather was the legendary Bishop Farlong, the man who had birthed the famed "Bishop's Scouts" unit of the Port Ember Security Forces Task Force 79 Special Forces.

Due to his family legacy, and having a father who was an active operator in the PESF, Dagon followed an unsurprising life route - being raised on a Military Base, attending a Military School and joining the Armed Forces immediately after.

Dagon passed the infamously difficult Task Force 79 selection directly after completing Basic Training, and after completing his Special Operations Cycle, joined up with his family’s namesake unit, the Bishop's Scouts. With this unit he operated in many untold wars and nations, living up to his family name and becoming well respected within the Special Forces Community, and rising to the rank of Sergeant as a Team Leader.

However, after serving for a period of 8 years, he developed a serious issue of wanderlust, the prospects of freedom, the calls of the jungles and oceans, simply becoming too much to ignore any further, thus handing in his resignation from the PESF with immediate effect.

Directly after resigning, Dagon disappeared from society, no one in the world knowing what he did. He resurfaced three years later, working for himself as a smuggler, smuggling anything and everything into every nation imaginable, quickly amassing quite the personal fortune. His infamy as an excellent smuggler spread far and wide very quickly, and found himself being contracted by various entities to smuggle things or people into, or out of, places where no one else could succeed. He has been contracted to do work for entities such as organised crime syndicates, drug dealers, arms dealers, trading conglomerates, private military and security companies and even national governments.

She sighed as she closed the back cover of the last dossier. As if on cue, she heard beeps as a code was entered and the vault door opened once again. Fred stepped in.
“Alright then. I’m back. With goodies!”
He had a box under his arm which he put on the table.

“What’s in the box?” Anna earnestly inquired.

Fred smirked wider, pointing a finger.
“Is that a movie line?”

“Um...maybe, but I really want to know what’s inside the box.”

“Well, I’m happy to tell you. I went by the Forgery Department. There are false covers in there for all of your team, including passports. At least it should work for your first crossing.”

“What are we supposed to be now...movie set scouts?”

“Good one. I saw that movie, too. Contractors guarding humanitarian workers.”

“With that much ordnance?”

“Don’t get stopped.”

“And…?”

“Some bricks of currency...Rupees. Pakistani and some Indian. Some NSD…”

And…?

Fred sighed.
“I thought the money would make you happy. You know what else. They are policy now for all the teams.”

“Goddamit.”

“I know you think it’s a risk, but they have also saved lives. Much more than they have compromised.”

“It totally blows our cover and it’s just a big prize for the fuckers!”

“I’m not going to talk about this anymore, Kestrel.” He used her field name to remind her to remain professional.
“You know the deal. Let’s get past it and move on.”

“Fine. Yes, sir. So...what’s the deal on this smuggler then?”

“Sub-contractor from Myrmidon. He knows the area and adds a good layer of assets. You’re going to be moving a lot of assets and gear over the borders. You will need him. Don’t let your pride get in the way and say you can do all that on your own.”

“I see. And this ‘Jackal’?”

Fred shrugged.
“Two for one deal, I guess.”

“How much can we trust them?”

“As much as you can trust anyone not fully vetted by Intexa.”

“Right. When do we leave?”

“Your Intexa and USG teammates will meet you at the airfield. You have some flying ahead of you. Four refueling stopovers at friendly bases. Your Myrmidon and Axalon teammates will be waiting in India when you arrive. There will be two of our modified vehicles there for your usage. Most of the gear you need will be there. Wheels up in 4 hours. Go do what you need to prepare and pack. Understood?”

“Yes.”

“Stay on script, Kestrel. Your updates will be through the usual channels.”
Secure uploads to multiple encrypted networks that she could check through coded access on her GXT tablet. Piecing them all together would give her the next mission brief. Any one compromised network would be complete gibberish to the hacker without the rest of the data. Not to mention that Intexa would have a whole room full of cyber security techs working to keep those networks secure 24/7 and shut down such hackers.

“There are lots of assets in India, and a few in Pakistan. I’ll let our station chief go over those with you when you get to Amritsar.”

“I understand.”
Arguing any more with Fred wouldn’t do any good and likely get her yanked from the mission. Much as it was sounding like a potential clusterfuck, she was intrigued enough to give it a go.

“Dismissed.”
