Why is it true that there are only two parties in US?Globally this is a highly unusual phenomenon.
Guess there is no usual phenomenon.

...No, that's unusual too.

Unless you really think America is the gold standard for democracy. If so, you may be stuck in the 1950s.

Huh. But why though?

Don't like the religion. Don't have a problem with the people, though. I have a factbook that explains more if you like. Otherwise it's not relevant to the topic at hand.

They aren’t. Both major parties are really big tent so popular views do tend to change both parties, causing policy shifts.
Goetland is not China.

China as a state is inherently evil which needs to be rectified by oppressed nations controlled by it regaining our righteous independence just like the independence of Finland, Baltic States, Poland and Ukraine from iterations of the Russian empire.

No more anti-Anglo, antisemitic and anti-Japanese nonsense, no more communist party, no more theft of wealth from Wu-speaking lands by Beijing, no more Boxer Rebellion-style xenophobia and it’s modern successors. America, Israel and Japan are inherently awesome.

I can translate for him. What he meant is that the protest leaders got out of the Tiananmen Square before the troops entered while ordinary students did not and got mowed down.

Of course the democracy activists in China are usually also assholes themselves. This is why they collaborate with the regime after getting their refugee status.

Well, about ten years before,or twenty years before, many of us(including me) truely believed in 'America is the gold standard for democracy'.
Now I dont do it,but when I was younger,I thought America the best.

There's a narrative that has arisen lately in China over Tiananmen that the students were a violent mob, substantiated by a video of a petrol bomb being thrown at an armoured vehicle. Whether the video is even real or not, it's a new narrative that seems to have arisen from the situation in HK, and fair enough copied around the world, that is to detract from the actual issues by painting any protest as a violent mob killing authorities, as opposed to violence breaking out due to suppression of dissent by those authorities.

It seems an easy tactic, suppress the issue, crack down on protestors to drive a riposte and then paint them all as violent mobsters out of control.

Worked for the Nazis, works for the CCP, works for authoritative forces across the world, even Trump uses it unsurprisingly.

Basically.. first it was just an 'incident', now it's a crackdown on a violent mob. Same for the Uighers, suppress their culture for ages and then use the response of terrorist incidents to crack down on the entire population. Xi Jinping seems to have a real hard on for this idea of One China unified under his personal rule, which is why Taiwan is now so on the radar, why HK has become an issue, even in Guangdong they had riots over suppressing Cantonese back in 2012.. he seems to have identified language as the key to controlling the nation.

If everyone's speaking, hearing and reading Mandarin in simplified Chinese then the control is complete.

At that time, the 'protesters' killed soldiers, and burned soldiers's body.
The soldiers were ordered not to shot.
Only the best would neither fight back or escape, then they were killed.

There were four or five groups between the 'protesters'.
Every time they had a consensus to talk with the government, one of them would have a more radical opinion, then there were no consensus and talk until the next consensus. And the more radical opinion.

When government tried to stop the talk and clean the square——the opinion leaders told followers to fight back. For themselves, opinion leaders just escaped before that day.
No matter what happened in that day,the young students were used as a weapon.
