A former comedic radio host, Helmut Ruston of the satirical United Beer And Pizza Party, unexpectedly won the 2018 city elections after a series scandals decimated support for the other candidates. Being a joke party completely unsuited for actual governing, the UBPP and Ruston arranged for him to be "kicked out" at the same time he resigned his membership. He's now a registered as an Independent running on progressive platform

Kiswahili is the only official language of Azania, as well as the most common-spoken language throughout the country, despite only being fourth as a spoken first language. There are approximately ten national languages in Azania, with the three largest being Nguni, chiShona, Kikongo. None of the national languages within Azania have official status, but are afforded special status which entitles speakers to a number of cultural protections and government sponsorship programs. All citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to have at least a minimal level of fluency in Kiswahili. On the provincial-level, provinces are allowed to have any number of official languages with the national government's approval.

The only limitation on this allowance is that all signs within the province must have a Kiswahili translation printed on them, and the Kiswahili text must be bigger than the text of the other language. Due to these nationwide policies, Azania has experienced a high degree of integration amongst its immigrant population, with the second and third generation immigrants adopting Kiswahili as their first language, and making their transition into Azanian life and culture a seamless experience.

Within the Azanian education system, Kiswahili is compulsory for all students beginning from the age of six, though national languages can be taught alongside Kiswahili. Several universities specialising in the field of national languages exist throughout Azania, such as the Chewa Language Institute of Azania and the Kikongo University of Azania, which provide PhD-level degrees for graduates seeking a career in linguistics. What is true however is that channels owned by the Gandoor Broadcasting Corporation (GBC, our nation's public broadcaster) were restricted from airing foreign programming until 1973, officially due to the GBC being required to promote Gandoorese culture and programming.

Indeed, the fact that there were no such restrictions when it came to the broadcast of foreign programming on private TV networks is the primary reason why the restriction started to be lifted for GBC channels, as they were slipping the ratings compared to private channels that were broadcasting popular programs from the USA and the UK.

Despite American sportiness (Must have the best education system, must have best hospitals, must have most affordable healthcare, must be most environmentally ambitious, must have lowest wealth gap, must have the most vibrant Small & Medium business culture, etc), Americans are also taught since youth that it is their patriotic duty to help one another. Something as simple as helping someone carry their groceries to their cars is portrayed as a citizen doing their part to combat the Soviet Union's "Empire of Greed" during the Cold War. The wealthy are also expected to pay their employees well. Jeff Bezos, for example, would face public scrutiny if Amazon Warehouse workers aren't paid $25/hr minimum with 30 day vacations, unlimited sick days, and stock options. Americans who don't volunteer at least once a week are seen as "Lazy" and "Leechers" with the exception of those who aren't able for health or other reasons beyond choices
