It's gonna be disastrously bad if it reaches the suburbs of Portland. Genuinely that would be a disaster on an unprecedented scale for the modern US, it would rip through the city.

It's not too different from other cities from the times I've visited imo but just all that stuff packed together would be awful. Fires move fast, it wouldn't take long for most of the city to be in flames if it did hit.

I think we should start discussing the strategic value of moats for city defense again.

Borderlands of Rojava wrote:Well folks, it's that time again. Massive fires are burning across the west coast and they're even worse than last year, since 2020 is the year of disasters on acid, and thousands have had to flee their homes for safety as walls of flame engulf entire towns and wipe them off the planet. As the situation continues to deteriorate, all eyes are on portland, where months of unrest have given way to a city under seige not by federal agents and protesters, but by massive wildfires that close in from all sides. The city is currently under a fire warning and has the worst air quality in the world. This comes after the sun was blocked out in California by the smoke and many are asking, when the hell will the fires cease?
So what are your thoughts NSers? How long do you think this inferno will rage for? Do you think Portland will burn? When will the sun come back out? Is this a sign of worse things to come in a changing climate?

In China(I live in China)
There is a newspaper saying 'fire wont reach the city, and smoke is stoped by terrain,so citizens just treat this as a rare scenery, many get out to watch it.'
Of course ,I dont think it is a good thing(I dont agree with this newspaper, for some other reasons). But government must have many ways to end it,right?
