Hello everyone and welcome to NS Cliches: Rebooted, in this thread we will be talking about the various cliches that appear in F7. Do note this is not a AN/AL game, it's just a fun little discussion to talk about all the various cliches that we have encountered in the F7 threads.

I don't know many cliches in F7 due to me going on and off the forum, but hopefully with this new nation that I have I hope to learn about cliches and try avoiding them in the near future.

Khm, an entity which is limited to Solar System as it can't overextend any more (And even then relying a lot on local governance due ofthe vast distances in space) probably wouldn't fall in that category, right?

FT nations are pretty common in F7 from what I seen.

It's not a bad thing- Feyrisshire, for instance, does it incredibly well- but for some reason, when you combine a user who's left-leaning, maybe socdem or socialist, a desire to make a nation matching one's views, and a love of anime, three things that are quite common here, you generally get a communist or socialist nation with an aside or as a major component of their lore that "oh haha btw we have catgirls in our communist utopia". I just find it interesting that it pops up so often.

To clarify, Feyris is not necessarily in that category mentioned. I just used their nation as an example of a nation like that.

Here's a cliche that's more of a general thing but is very common on NS. Applying Modern sensibilities to an FT nation.

This especially applies to political-wank or power-wank FT nations. I personally have my doubts that a nation 3000 years into the future would even consider our modern problems to be, well, problems. A future sci-fi god-emperor would most likely not make Trans Rights or, for a less extreme example, the legality of crocs and socks one of their main priorities or political positions during a time period as distant from us as we are distant to the Babylonians. Of course, any society will have overarching issues that all societies have shared such as gender equality, the rights of those not apart of the ruling majority (racism, tribalism, specisim in the possible future, whatever you wanna call it), but I find it kind of bland to see so many FT or even FFT nations still focusing on problems Modern humans face today when that is highly unlikely

This applies to Gods and/or Eldrich beings on NS as well. Because clearly some immortal war deity who wishes to bring about the destruction of the universe cares so much about the Communism vs Capitalism debate or the rights of homosexuals.

For my FT nation, the society is (supposed to be) at a level of advancement at which today's problems are irrelevant - everyone already agrees on the solution. But modern issues keep coming up in roleplay, so I can't completely ignore them.

For my FT nation, the society is (supposed to be) at a level of advancement at which today's problems are irrelevant - everyone already agrees on the solution. But modern issues keep coming up in roleplay, so I can't completely ignore them.

That's not your fault then in my opinion, it just means you have to bring them up for the sake of RP, which is fine. I was talking more in terms of worldbuilding.

Of course, this is all imo, I don't know what the future will bring. Perhaps the Pineapple Pizza civil war will break out in 2673

Not too cliche, but there’s like 3 communist Muslim nations I can recall, a few dynastic monarchist Islamic nations (although like duh), and that’s around it.

And mind you, a nation that does what they are well can still be cliche, and a nation that is cliche can still be a very well done nation, it’s just that what they are is common.

Oh, and I gotta throw in monarchist Switzerlands. Too many.

Yeah leaders who are too perfect seems unrealistic and that's coming from someone who's leader is perfect. I plan on changing that though by putting a criticism section on her factbook page the trouble is I need to come up with valid criticisms.

Or, fantasy monsters that need to be exterminated post haste, do try to report them as soon as possible as they're quite dangerous, we'll take care of it while also stripping you of your rights to everything.

Socialist or Social Democratic nations that are hyper left wing and also super peaceful unless if you disagree with them on a political opinion at which time they become demons bent on the destruction of whatever nation opposes them. I have seen so many nations like this.

Communism by people who don't know what communism is.

These three go hand in hand. I've never seen a communist nation here that actually is communist, it's always the transitional state before communism... and a pretty poor one at that, given how far they stray from Marx's ideology. I guess it's not that much of a surprise since us in the Anglophone world generally refer to those transitional states (e.g. Vietnam, Venezuela) as "communist" when they're really just aspirational.
Combine it with anime catgirls and you just get something where it's incredibly obvious they're not actual communists, they're just doing it so they're popular on the Internet. I was kinda shocked when, say, zalgo text here sold out communism for Wolven girls but in hindsight it makes sense; if the communists here were really communists their nations would be radically different to how they actually are. I'm not entirely surprised; back when I was in the Accursed Farms discord server, I was the only one out of the whole server to have read the Communist Manifesto despite being the only one there not to be either socialist or communist. Now, I'm sure others have read it, but they didn't pipe up during that conversation where I dropped the 10 Commandments for Commie Commanders on them.
And for some reason if you disagree you're literally Hitler, only too stupid to find your own hands. And must be a man because no woman would be so stupid as to not be a leftist, because all women are exactly the same and have no subtlety or variation to them at all.

Back in the days when you were able to RP as Nazis without people assuming those were your RL views cuz RL Nazis on NS were basically just summer trolls and attempted raids from places like Stormfront.

I fully agree. I’ve met exactly one actually communist nation, and they are a person that believes in
communism IRL and has done tons and tons of research on the subject. They probably get more annoyed about this cliche than anyone else I’ve seen on this site.

And yeah, the easily triggered nations. That’s another cliche.
