The national colors of the Republic of the Orion Islands are blue, white, and gold. Orionite national sporting teams are known as the Eagles. Orionite fans are known for their assortment of chants, fervent flag waving, high intensity. They also don't have a lot of respect for mediocrity, so soccer games are less intense then other sports in the nation.

Association football was first played in Orion in 1880, and quickly became the dominant sport in the nation. The Trans-National Premiership was established in 1897, and quickly became a world class league, often beating English Football League teams in exhibitions. The British Pacific and Orionite leagues were established as level two of the pyramid in 1904. However, in that year the Island Rugby League was established. Although it was very underfunded at first, it quickly adjusted its policies towards the lower classes, making a sport accessible to all. The Premiership was seen as a stodgy, uptight club dominated by two clubs, Empire and Royal Union City, who claimed all but two titles in the first thirty years of the organized sport's history. By 1920 Island Rugby had tied the Premiership in terms of fan attendance. It began to pull away with the establishment of a four team tournament to decide the title. Japan invaded the island during the Second World War, but the British retained a key peninsula, enabling an organized resistance. The US stationed over 700,000 troops on Orion, bringing with them gridiron. A few stayed after the war and formed the Orionite Football League. It followed the example of the National Football League and put its games on television, exploding the audience for a formerly niche sport. The Premiership quickly fell into decline, a fall from witch it never recovered. It also failed to build a youth sport, hastening its demise. It even accepted Soccer as the sports name. Also not helping was the fact that China kept the ROI out of the International Olympic Committee and FIFA. But in the multiverse, the SFA saw it's future. The SFA instituted a youth program, giving hundreds of millions of dollars to the effort. Although it will take decades for the game to be rebuilt, youth participation is up significantly, suggesting a bright future.

The main stadium is Victoria Park in Union City. It was built in 1915 and has been maintained by upgrades until the present day. It seats 75,000 people. It was designed with a roof covering the stands and to be as loud as possible. It is a prime symbol of Orionite pride and power. All codes of football use it for their championships, and it is the home ground of Royal Union City FC, Capital Rugby Football Club, and the Union City Lions gridiron team. It is also used by the Conservative and Liberal parties for their political conventions. To ease scheduling conflicts, a second venue, Elizabeth Park, was built in 1957. It uses a bowl layout and is fully open. It seats 60,000 people. There has been occasional talk of replacing both venues, but fierce political and fan opposition has prevented this. Both venues are Federal landmarks and are owned by the Orionite Sports Federation, a body that represents all Orionite sportsmen and women in all sports.

All roleplay permissions are yes.

The Euran Football Association’s World Cup 86 Qualifying Squad

Manager: Michael Brandon (57, Nephara)

The unceremonious sacking of Daniel Belgrave as Eura manager following an unexpected and unfortunate exit from the 82nd World Cup group stages caused one of the biggest controversies in recent Euran footballing history. Eura hadn't lost a single game until the final match of the group stage (a surreal 3-0 defeat to Sargossa built on a first half collapse), but in an unlikely turn of fate, three teams finished on six points, and the side went out on goal difference. As Eura's dry spell without trophies extended another year, the EFA had clearly felt they had given more than enough time to Belgrave's project. Many saw this decision as harsh on Belgrave, still regarded by most as something of a national hero given his role in winning the 66th World Cup as a player and winning over two hundred caps. They called it a fluke exit.

However, the writing had been on the wall for longer. Eura had finished qualifying unbeaten but drew an unprecedented seven games. The defeat against Sargossa that directly triggered Belgrave's dismissal was the latest in a string of bizarre Euran collapses to bow out of tournaments that could have been won, adding the Corsairs to a list of at-the-time underdogs including Savojarna, Free Republics and South Covello. There are also ramifications for many players in the squad; indeed, following Belgrave's exit, all four of John Leach, Dominic Miller, Alex Wyatt and even Josh Holmes called time on their international careers.

A dilemma had been created for the EFA on how to proceed. Assistant Mike Humphrey had also been dismissed leaving a need to recruit an entirely new management team. Brief rumours of legend Steve Thompson riding to the rescue from retirement were quashed immediately. Rumours of a dramatic swoop for wildcard Skorji Oslograd were also laughed off. Talk of Lee Sharp (Eura's greatest ever player, former Audioslavia manager and now 1830 Cathair boss), Tom Benedict (Sabrefell Athletic coach and long rumoured target of the EFA) or Walter Crasder (Ulsa) also came to nothing. In the end the appointment made after months of what the selection committee called "challenging reflection" was a choice that could be seen as either surprising or completely natural depending on whether you see the appointment as a nostalgia trip or a return to Euran football's core identity.

Michael Brandon, a stalwart of Directus as a player, one of Nephara's first great players and an iconic manager of the Nepharim side itself, was handed a three year contract. Tom Riley, Euran World Cup winning captain and Brandon's former teammate, was appointed as assistant. It came as a shock in Brandon's own country, where it was widely anticipated that he may take the Brinemouth job in the near future. Instead Brandon has clearly sensed an opportunity to take on one last chance to win the big prize, and to return the favour to the country that made his name. He has been given the freedom to make radical, or even ruthless changes to the Euran side in an attempt to take them away from Belgrave's cautious game to a more stereotypical Euran attacking identity.

After a strong start to his reign at the 32nd Copa Rushmori, disaster struck during an abysmal qualifying campaign for the 83rd World Cup. However Eura won just enough points to make the qualifying playoffs, and went on to record a decent winning run into the finals that predictably ended in the quarters against Equestria. They followed this up with reaching the semi-finals of the 33rd Copa Rushmori, exiting to Sargossa on penalties and losing the third place play off to a returning Schottia. Then came a much stronger World Cup performance at World Cup 84. Eura dominated their qualifying group, went all the way to the semi-finals, only to agonisingly fall short again versus Farfadillis.

Despite the regrettable fall at the penultimate hurdle, Eura had clearly improved hugely and took that form into the 34th Copa Rushmori in the next season. After navigating their way through a tough group and the knockouts, Eura beat Savojarna on penalties to loft the Copa for a long overdue third time. It was a sweet success but for Michael Brandon the Copa was just the taster. He’d won it once before as Nephara manager, the 30th edition – so he soon had the players back in training and raring to go for World Cup qualifying the following season rather than celebrating for too long.

With Euran football now able to adjust back to two domestic seasons per World Cup there was an air of positivity in the national team, although it was somewhat dented by another World Cup heartbreak, this time against Nephara at the 85th World Cup, and a surprise exit to Valladares as Eura sought to defend their Copa crown. Eura now have an experienced core paired with young talent heading into qualifying for the 86th World Cup – although the squad is still adapting to the retirements of Coltrane, Underwood, Sharp, Armstrong and Townsend in relatively quick succession with Coles and Blake likely to follow. Anticipating that change, Monica Rowland has taken up the captaincy ahead of a series of friendlies against Euran Oceania Territories, Delaclava, Royal Kingdom of Quebec and Eastfield Lodge.

Assistant Manager: Tom Riley (62, Eura)

Riley was Eura's captain when they won the 66th World Cup and, like Brandon, has a reputation as a hardworking, organised leadership figure who played as a short passing central midfielder. Brandon will not be an unfamiliar figure to anyone in the dressing room but Riley may add a degree of intimate familiarity with the way things work. He will be vital to bringing back the work ethic and team spirit that drove previous title winning Euran sides. The two men have been inseparable as a management team and it is expected that, like Belgrave and Humphrey, they will be treated as mutually accountable for better or worse. Brandon has also brought many of his coaches with him from the Nepharim set up that left following his departure there.

Stats up to date to end of Copa Rushmori 35

Goalkeepers

1 - Kevin Belgrave - GK - 33 – 79 caps – Directus
13 – Ryan Bull - GK - 34 – 15 caps - Brinemouth (Nephara)
30 – Vance Simm – GK – 25 – 3 caps - Lajuno

Reserves
Ethan Fleming – GK – 30 – 0 caps - Unioneers
Mick Key – GK – 22 – 0 caps - Blacklake Blues (Taeshan)

Kevin Belgrave is now untouchable in the Euran goal. He retains first choice status as one of the world’s best keepers and the hero of the recent Copa Rushmori 34 penalty shootout, continuing his excellent form into the last World Cup and Copa, although Eura often conceded goals due to their inconsistent defending. Unfortunately though the days where Eura have world class talent in depth at goalkeeper are long gone.

Ryan Bull should be at that level, and often is for Brinemouth. For Eura he is much shakier in goal, never quite looking easy with himself in the spotlight of his countrymen despite his nonchalant attitude; he has however been playing a bit better with more regular appearances in the last couple of tournaments. Vance Simm is Eura’s next best option – a promising keeper but not quite the finished article. There are good goalkeepers in reserve but as things stand none look likely to threaten Belgrave.

Defence is currently Eura’s weakness, which has prompted major changes for the first time in years. There is a dearth of experience at centreback beyond the old guard which means Michael Brandon is aiming to get his youngsters up to speed as soon as possible. At 36 it is now impossible for squad captain Scott Coles to stay fit enough to start, meaning he has dropped to the bench on 199 caps, and the armband has been handed to Monica Rowland in midfield. Several potential replacements jostled to replace the veteran right back; in the end, Michael Brandon has plucked for experience and the Nephara connection, giving previous deputy right back Steve Fox the starting role for now. However he will face strong competition from some of Eura’s pool players, with Alma Watts and Harry Wheeler thought to be the frontrunners to replace him.

Harvey Blake is dropped, out of contention and unlikely to be called up again at 33, despite his 126 caps. His place in the squad is filled by Jake Newton, returning to international duty and hoping to add to his existing tally of 7 caps. Charles Roberts and Dean Steele are a solid centreback pairing but will be looking over their shoulders at Newton and wonderkid Jack Menard, while other young prospects lurk in the pool selection. Roberts, Blake and Steele have 296 caps between them against 16 for all other active centrebacks combined, showing the significance of this generational turnover and the lack of Euran centrebacks with international experience.

Unusually Eura’s best depth at the back can be found at left back, traditionally the soft underbelly of Euran teams of the past. Stanley Burns has grown into a top class first choice left back but he faces a very strong challenge from the newly called up Lucy Almwood, a highly rated AFC Corvistone product who has generated the most excitement about any Euran in this position since Andrew Watson. Nevertheless she can’t take her position as number two for granted – she’ll have to hold off Ben Hall with his substantial international experience, Alex Ingram, Reece Lucas (dropped to give Almwood a space in the squad), James Lord and Jayden Fox. At the moment, if Eura could play four left backs as their back four, they would.

Eura now have a settled world class selection of starters in midfield – Rowland, Robshaw, Griffiths, Woakes, Bowman. At 31 Griffiths is either in his peak now or just passing it, though luckily his game has always been as reliant on skill as it has speed, while Rowland is also 31 but looks as if she could play until 40. The others are all in their late twenties and still gearing up towards their prime, making the next couple of tournaments absolutely vital as their main chance to win silverware. Robshaw is the key figure in the midfield in terms of being Eura’s passing playmaker while Rowland remains the gritty warrior defensive midfielder, and newly appointed captain with Scott Coles approaching retirement. Griffiths provide a dynamic creative option with some scoring ability, while Woakes and Bowman more regularly find the net as well as being creators themselves.

Liam Armstrong’s retirement from international duty following the last Copa is a loss, though no-one can doubt that the ascendancy of Robshaw was inevitable, possibly even delayed for too long. Anthony Townsend’s retirement is more surprising, although his form hasn’t been the same since the start of World Cup 85 qualifying. Townsend’s departure means Freddie Wright is now the go to option on the wide right. However he could be quickly usurped by the highly talented and much younger Bobby Malone who has been called up to fill the gap left by Townsend. Otherwise there has been little change to the midfield as its Eura’s strongest area, especially in the centre where Henry Patterson is the biggest threat to Rowland, Robshaw and even Griffiths, while Harry Humphreys, Frank Bevan and Chris Ashton are all pushing for one final shot at glory. They are the only players already capped, as the pool options are all yet to play international football.

Forwards

9 – Brian Bond - LW/ST - 31 – 97 caps – 81 goals – Oakstone
10 – John Fletcher – CF – 32 – 45 caps – 25 goals – AFC Treason (Nephara)
14 – Tommy Sutton - ST - 26 – 10 caps – 4 goals – Falourr
17 – Isaac Tomlinson – ST – 27 – 0 caps – 0 goals – Sabrefell Athletic (Nephara)
26 – Morgan Fox - CF - 33 – 17 caps – 10 goals – Fligsive FC (Euran Oceania Territories)

Reserves
Martin Blessed – ST – 30 – 1 caps – 0 goals – Royal Rumiatzi (Astograth)
Fred Cox – ST – 25 – 0 caps – 0 goals – Bastion
Tom Whittaker – ST – 31 – 0 caps – 0 goals – Carsby
Lewis Phoenix – ST – 29 – 1 caps – 0 goals – Stahlburg City (Nephara)
Franklin Harris – ST – 26 – 0 caps – 0 goals – Rolalas FC (Valanora)
Robbie Truro – ST – 25 – 0 caps – 0 goals – Brigham
Stewart Robson – ST – 23 – 0 caps – 0 goals – Directus
Christine Atkinson (F) – ST – 20 – 0 caps – 0 goals – Lajuno
Rita Brookfield (F) – ST- 20 – 0 caps – 0 goals – Oakstone
Darius Purcell – ST – 23 – 0 caps – 0 goals – Workers Union
Charlie Gray – ST – 25 – 0 caps – 0 goals – Southern Star (Brenecia)

Brian Bond remains the focal point of this team and perhaps the best Euran striker of his generation, having come to the fore late internationally and racking up an eye watering 81 goals in 97 games. He was the quickest Euran to 50 international goals and it is almost certain he will be the quickest to 100. Eura need to take advantage of his talent while they still can. John Fletcher is a quality second choice option and second striker for when Eura play two up top, while Tommy Sutton is undoubtedly good enough to provide serious competition for Fletcher at least.

It is the rest of Eura’s striking options that leave something to be desired by the standards Eura are used to. There are lots of good, not great forwards to choose from, and some decent youngsters. Martin Blessed made a brief appearance at the Copa and now drops back into the pool while Isaac Tomlinson retains his place, allowing Morgan Fox to make a return to international football despite plying his trade in the Euran Oceania Territories. Lewis Phoenix is the most likely other choice while Tom Whittaker might be just good enough to have a stab at international football. Many eyes will be on the future and the likes of Fred Cox, Franklin Harris, Stewart Robson and Christine Atkinson.

EURAN OCEANIA TERRITORIES
"The Expats"

Euran Oceania Football Federation
World Cup 86 Qualifying Squad

National Introduction

Kit: Blue with combination livery of Euran gold and Syndicatian white. Alternative kit is the same colours are Syndicatian or "Revolutionaries" green.
Stadium: Flynn Arena, Fligsive, 96,500
Style Mod: +4

The Incorporated States of Euran Oceania Territories is a parliamentary federal dominion of Eura, formed of the Euran zone of the former Inevitable Syndicate and the Whittorian Islands. It has a population of around forty million people which is quickly rising, making it a beacon of diversity home to Syndicatians, Whittorian refugees, Euran migrants, Apoxians, Audioslavians, Samebans and many others. It has possibly the world's largest artificial crater, which dominates the landscape west of what is now a rebuilt Fligsive, the capital of this new entity. Its home stadium is the the Flynn Arena, where Eura beat Polar Islandstates 4-2 in the famous 66th World Cup final. Few would have predicted that the colours of red, blue and gold would become permanent there but its happened, and the stadium is now back in good condition after an expensive refit to return it to the 96,500 capacity it held previously.

Previously a wooden stadium, the current iteration of the Flynn Arena was rebuilt after a great fire destroyed the stadium during a game between Fligsive FC and Magnaeus City. Nowadays, it's a little more robust, having been the subject of many refurbishment projects over the years. The stadium was easily reachable on the Fligsive Metro before the violent overthrow of the Corvidae regime and the associated disaster in Fligsive. It now sports a combination of the old paint job as well as Euran blue and gold while the local club Fligsive FC are still in existence despite drawing lower crowds after the Mertagne exodus. Though they did not play in the hastily cobbled together amateur EOTLeague, they are the dominant side in the new professional EOFL.

Euran Oceania Territories formed a national football team not long after the founding of the political entity, a project conjured up by the Euran government Ministry of Sport to imbue a sense of cohesion among the diverse population of EOT. They played a series of friendlies against other "Eurasphere" sides from Endemia and Rushmore in a lengthy state subsidised tour. Their first games were defeats against Daera, Itor and the Ferguson Islands, before an unexpected 4-3 victory against Helving, despite their Euraleague star Scott Barnes scoring a hat trick.

They then entered the 50th AOCAF full of excitement despite having a mostly amateur team, including serving military personnel, but were promptly demolished in the group stages by several teams. Now, with the citizenship laws relaxed to allow the growth of the Territories, the "Underdogs" as they have come to call themselves were suddenly confident that they might be able to pull off a shock or two. Their first manager was of top class pedigree - Tolgus Tregajorran, a footballing hero in Apox who was well known on the international scene.

Tregajorran managed to persuade some former Apoxian internationals, playing in Eura and with no international allegiance following the temporary dismemberment of Apoxian professional football, to sign the relevant papers and make the surprise switch to EOT, as well as Euran's and other international exiles. After several years of bit part competition EOT competed in the World Cup qualifiers for the first time and in turn the Baptism of Fire, after the Sameban national team withdrew from the Endemian International Sporting Agreement and international football.

EOT performed poorly at the Baptism of Fire, going out at the group stage, but put on a respectable showing in their qualifying group for the 80th World Cup. Tregajorran's unexpected departure and a chaotic period followed with Rhys West as manager, who was soon sacked over an off-the-pitch indiscretion. It ended with the controversial appointment of Euran footballing legend and cult icon Skorji Oslograd halfway through World Cup 81 qualifying. Immediately applying Oslograd's "Skorjiball" approach - best summarised as an extremely aggressive and fluid attacking game interrupted sporadically by the manager doing something inappropriate - the team secured some noteworthy results but remained very much an underdog competitor reliant on an aging core within its squad.

Oslograd's dream is to turn them into the living embodiment of "the way of the warrior" and to qualify for the World Cup. His first AOCAF was the first tournament where Olsograd was able to demonstrate his own approach to the game in full but the results were mixed. Then he led the side into World Cup 82 qualifying, but a dreadful start to the campaign snuffed out any hopes, although a later revival ensured a semi-respectable finish. But the team did lose a bit of its soul, playing more conservatively than previously, a trend that Oslograd reversed at AOCAF LVIII. The Expats excited fans with their performances and took the scalp of Valanora, easily the biggest victory in the young teams history before exiting in the knockouts against Banija.

As a result the squad went into qualifiers for World Cup 83 and the following AOCAF largely unchanged, only to disappoint again, and then again at World Cup 84 and the 76th Cup of Harmony. Several retirements and the ageing of players left the squad looking weak for amidst rumours that Oslograd would quit, with his mind turned to helping grow the domestic game in the Oceania Territories - the launch of a new domestic league having now occurred. Oslograd, now 56, quashed these rumours by opting to extend his existing contract and undertaking some of the most radical changes to the team since its formation.

Despite an above expectations performance at AOCAF 60, including a memorable 4-3 win over Audioslavia, it all came apart for the Expats in qualifying for the 85th World Cup and the 77th Cup of Harmony where EOT were routinely humiliated and left both tournaments at the earliest stage in terrible form, a huge step backwards on previous attempts at qualifying relative to expectations. The young dominion's footballing pride, the player's reputations and Oslograd's entire philosophy were being openly queried by the international media - Oslograd's headline-grabbing theatrics had come back to bite him.

Following that disastrous campaign Oslograd has embarked on the most radical overhaul of the Expats squad since the arrival of the original "Expat" contingent led by Karl Cotrell and David Cooke, chucking out a whole group of players deemed "past it" and bringing in unproven talent from EOT's brand new EOFL. Several players have retired and many more have been dropped. The formation has changed again too, abandoning three at the back and now resembling a 5-4-1, but with both fullbacks lumped forward and only two strikers, making it a kind of horror movie version of a 3-5-2.

This is a hell of a gamble by Oslograd who for the first time in his tenure faces a serious threat of the sack. In the past he was perceived as being too big to fail, especially given his popularity in the Territories and back in Eura, and his excellent reputation as a player and early in his management career. Now he is increasingly becoming more of a meme than a manager and has put the EOFF in the red with his antics - this AOCAF, the 86th World Cup qualifying campaign and (probably) the 78th Cup of Harmony are tournaments where Skorji Oslograd simply must deliver.

The Squad
Shirt number. Name - Age - Position - Club (Nation)

Goalkeepers

1. Charlie Ross - 24 - GK - Bakermouth
13. Steve Ellis – 26 – GK – Oslograd Academy
28. Tammy Barton - 33 - GK - Fligsive FC

24 year old Bakermouth keeper Charlie Ross is now firmly established as the Territories first choice goalkeeper even as they continue to ship goals whoever is between the posts. Tammy Barton is now relegated to third choice as, for the first time, the Territories have a third keeper to choose from; Steve Ellis came in uncapped for the AOCAF, impressed and is now solidified as the second choice keeper.

Defenders

2. Marvin Walsh - 26 - RB - Holdenberg City (Eura)
3. Hans Cabel - 23 - LB - Brigham (Eura)
4. Freddie Law – 31 - CB - Carsby (Eura)
5. Kurt Strong - 34 - CB - Revolutionaries (Eura)
6. Jason Potts - 26 - CB - Ulsa (Eura)
15. Timwise Gerduns - 33 - RB - Revolutionaries (Eura)
19. Michael Ford – 22 – CB – Bakermouth
21. Jacob Hayden - 23 - LB - Fligsive FC
23. Hailey Parkes (F) – 22 – RB – Oslograd Academy
27. Baily Davison – 31 – CB – Burgess FC

Reserves
Jack Ream – 32 - RB - Fligsive FC
Ernie Lynch – 28 – CB – AFC Whittorians
Jesus Moreno – 33 – LB – Dangerford (Eura)
Patrick Spencer - 26 - CB - New Bastion

The defence have a lot to answer for after the complete nightmare they have experienced in recent tournaments, only improving slightly at the last AOCAF with the adoption of a five at the back system with wingbacks. Many reasons were speculated on for the regular capitulation of the most talented and experienced area of the team; Euran-born Gold League players who don’t care about EOT turning up for the sponsorship money, Gerduns and Strong declining with age, and most importantly of all Oslograd’s tactical experiment of three at the back proving to be a catastrophe. There are no changes here from the AOCAF squad.

Midfielders

7. Peter Chadwick - 36 - CAM - Fligsive FC
8. Jake Clark – 26 – CM – Blades ex Magnaeus
10. Joel Conway - 29 - RW - Rozelle (Brenecia)
11. Kasey Fuller - 26 - LW - Bastion (Eura)
16. Nolberto Dravon – 21 - RW - Ulsa (Eura)
20. James Newton – 29 – LM – Blades ex Magnaeus
22. Amelia Byrne (F) – 23 – RW – Hyford City
24. Tom Mitchell – 25 – CM – Auto Sinclair
25. George Richards - 28 - CDM - Callodown (Eura)
26. Taylor Williams (F) – 22 – CM – Club Verde

Reserves
Ian Tauton – 23 – LW – Bastion Lions (Eura)
Peter Brooks - 33 - CM - AFC Whittorians
Nathan Harding - 22 - CAM - Bakermouth
Mark Little - 30 - RW - Fligsive FC
Joe Irmine - 23 - CM – Crater

Oslograd’s new additions to the squad for the AOCAF have all looked promising and therefore retain their places for World Cup qualifying. Jake Clark in particular seems to have become a rock for the midfield to build around. On the bench Nolberto Dravon is a real talent and a long term replacement for Joel Conway, with other prospects such as Tom Mitchell, Taylor Williams and Amelia Byrne all likely to get game time in qualifying. Despite the complete overhaul of the rotation and backup options the core trio of Chadwick, Fuller and Conway remain irreplaceable due to their experience and form, and will start as many games as possible.

Forwards

9. Pierre-Louis Le Tonnelier - 31 - ST - Farrenton Athletic (Eura)
12. Garret Ramsey - 30 - ST - Ezriquay United FC (Baker Park)
14. Justin Quibble - 22 - ST - New Bastion
17. Charlie Rowe – 21 – ST – Burgess FC
18. Tom Duffy - 33 - CF – Newrook City (Nephara)

Reserves
Ulysses Zimmer – 34 – ST – Fligsive FC
Eve Reynolds (F) – 23 – ST – KT Itsasontziak
Oliver Leith – 26 – ST – Judgetown
Paul Hooper - 30 - ST – Dartmoor (Eura)

The Expats continue to be wholly reliant on Pierre-Louis Le Tonnelier up front whose flair, personality and skill continue to make him a fan favourite. Without the Farrenton Athletic striker it’s hard to see where the goals would come from. The abrupt formation change from three forwards to one means Le Tonnelier has taken on an even bigger burden of responsibility, with the numbers up front being sacrificed for a stronger midfield. Garret Ramsey has maybe lost the wonderboy shine in Oslograd’s eyes, but he stays in the starting line-up due to his work rate and uncanny ability to score strange goals at useful moments.

Tom Duffy has a similar attitude to Le Tonnelier in terms of not training properly and treating his Expats career as a bit of a laugh. However he doesn’t deliver the goods in the same way, barely scoring in recent campaigns, and so he has been unceremoniously demoted within the squad to fifth choice striker. Oslograd publicly labelled him a “lazy shit” and maybe that will put a rocket up Duffy to prove the unorthodox manager wrong – it can’t be good for the 33 year old’s ego that before his legs have even gone he’s been put below two inexperienced EOFL strikers in the pecking order. Prospects Justin Quibble and Charlie Rowe take the other two slots and can expect plenty of playing time in qualifying.

Preferred starting lineup
The Expats play a 3-5-2- formation that evolves into a 3-4-3 on the attack.

GK - 1. C Ross
RCB - 4. F Law
CB - 5. K Strong
LCB - 6. J Potts
RWB – 2. M Walsh
LWB – 3. H Cabel
RCM – 8. J Clark
LCM - 7. P Chadwick
RAM - 10. J Conway
LAM - 11. K Fuller
ST - 9. P-L Le Tonnelier

I Give To My Opponent The Permission To:

Choose My Goalscorers: Y
Godmod Goalscoring Events: Y. Le-T will score mostly bangers. Ramsey will score mostly flukes. Most own goals likely to be the fault of the plucky but unlucky Timwise Gerduns. Chadwick, Fuller, Conway all likely to score. Strong deadly from corners.
Injure Players: Y, however I'll decide the severity. As for your own players, with Oslograd as manager. EOT players will deliver career ending injuries on command.
Godmod Injury Events: Y, however I'll decide the severity.
Red Card Players: Y
Yellow Card Players: Y
Godmod Other Events: Yes, but give me some warning/ask for advice unless its Skorji Oslograd doing something absolutely batshit in which case go for it. I reserve the right to contradict you in this case because he is a man who can bend reality with his sublime words after all. This is an unorthodox team, so feel free to be creative.

RP permissions: Your RP permissions are mine, short of death and career-ending injuries. If I can send off your players, you can send off mine. If your players can’t be booked, neither can mine. If I can invade the Earth Kingdom, destroy the Southern Water Tribe and wipe out the Air Nomads in the name of spreading the prosperity of the Fire Nation to the entire world, so can you. Just make it funny/entertaining, if you don’t mind. ;)
Pandemic disclaimer: As I am sure most people are aware, Omerica recently has been affected by an epidemic of Maxtopian Pox. This epidemic does not and will not extend outside Omerican borders and will not impact any international football games, nor will it form the basis of any long-term roleplay arcs on my part.

However, I will not be recognising the existence of any international pandemics. This does not mean that I will not recognise the existence of disease outbreaks in other countries (largely in the interest of not being a hypocrite), but these will be construed as a series of unrelated outbreaks that do not extend beyond the borders of nations that accept their existence. These outbreaks will not under any circumstances extend to or from the United Republics of Omerica and any attempt to introduce new disease outbreaks to Omerica will be immediately nullified by the Federal Secretariat for Defence’s “Instantaneous Godmode Neutralisation by Optimised Revision of Events” (I.G.N.O.R.E) system.

I apologise to anyone who has been affected in any way by the COVID-19 pandemic. I recognise that the Maxtopian Pox epidemic may be considered disrespectful, insulting or distasteful. If, for whatever reason, you do not wish to acknowledge its existence, I will respect your decision. I wish anyone currently afflicted with COVID-19 a speedy recovery and anyone struggling as a result of the pandemic the best. <3

A federation in the far north, Omerica is a cosmopolitan maritime nation, famed for its environmental beauty, thriving black markets and love of a good drink. Omerica is a federal parliamentary republic with a semi-direct democratic system of governance. An influential country in international affairs, the nation ranks as one of the most politically and socially free states in the multiverse. The nation is noted for having some of the most friendly, compassionate and brash people in the multiverse, who enjoy high rates of economic, scientific and cultural development. The nation is rated as one of the least corrupt and least authoritarian in the world, with low rates of ignorance, obesity, political apathy and preventable death.

About the Incorrigibles
Association code: OME
KPB ranking: 81st (10.53)
All-time record: 141–74–127 (41.2% win rate; 1.45 points per game)
World Cup qualifying record: 86–43–78 (41.5% win rate; 1.45 points per game)
Record under Alexis Stephanidis: 0–1–0 (0.0% win rate; 1.00 point per game)

Omerica are the team you may be surprised to learn have qualified for the World Cup finals a grand total of one time, doing so nearly a quarter-century ago. (Whether that’s more or less than expected is left for the reader to decide.) In the interim, Omerica have suffered five main-stage eliminations and two playoff defeats—losing over two legs to Electrum in the midst of the OFF’s infamous collapse and finishing winless in a four-team round-robin in Busukuma.

The United Republics were conspicuously absent from the World Cup 84 qualifiers in what was assumed at the time to be a clerical error, but has since been discovered to be the result of a personal grudge held by a rogue clerk. Omerica’s KPB rating has tanked considerably as a consequence, but the popular perception of Omerica as a dangerous spoiler of mid-tier teams’ campaigns persists. But despite starting and finishing the campaign with four-goal wins in Krytenia and Qasden respectively, the Incorrigibles didn’t quite live up to that reputation last time around, finishing mid-table due to exhaustion in the changing rooms and issues in the backroom.

With the national team plunged into further chaos after a shock group stage exit at the Independent Associations Championship, the goal of the World Cup campaign is more to rebuild confidence in the national team than to actually mount a credible challenge for qualification. (But qualification would be nice.)
Staff
Manager: Alexis Stephanidis (age 51; b. Brétolles-d’Ouest, Westavon)
Former manager of Malavan Club de Romainbourg, Alexis Stephanidis is a tactician in the traditional vein of Omerican football, searching for redemption in light of her ignominious exit from the now-reigning Omerican champions. Stephanidis is a managerial idealist who believes in the time-honoured tradition of “the best defence is a good offence” and whose sides are known for their flair and (outside trips to Cobrio) for coming in “clutch”. Rebuilding Malavan from their failed campaign to qualify for the OPSL Premier Division—winning an OPSL Second Division title, a Federation Cup and a OPSL Challenge Cup in the process—and winning Andreaskruis promotion in the Second Division playoffs cements her place as the manager to rebuild confidence in the national team.

Kits (expertly crafted by ediraf)
Due to the clerical error which precluded Omerica’s participation in the previous World Cup, the URSF and ediraf have agreed to extend the deal originally made ahead of IAC 7 to the end of the Cup of Harmony at the earliest, fulfilling the requirement for the Incorrigibles to wear the design for at least three World Cup cycles. The Incorrgibles will display one bronze star on the right shirt sleeve to symbolise their triumph at IAC 7 in Drawkland; any theoretical future World Cup or Cup of Harmony titles would likewise be worn on the sleeve instead of the usual position above the crest.

Home venues
In commemoration of Omerica’s fourteenth qualifying campaign and impending second World Cup Hall of Fame induction, the United Republican Soccer Federation will host the Incorrigibles’ home matches at the country’s two most famed venues: the Stade de la République and the Arena la Rouge. The Stade de la République will host games in the first half of qualifying and a hypothetical Omerican leg of the playoffs (if the Incorrigibles advance), while the Arena la Rouge will host games in the second half.

Stade de la République, Republic of the City of Romainbourg | Capacity: 73,000 | Tenants: AS Républicains
Hosting: Garifunya (matchday 2), Holy Junta (matchday 5), Blampano (matchday 7), Valladares (matchday 9), TBD (playoff or friendly)
Nestled in the heart of the Pays-de-la-Mer, the smallest historic realm of the Omerica Octarchy, Romainbourg is the beating heart of Romanique (i.e. Gallophone Omerica). Treasured as the city where Saltsteadish surrender was concluded and Omerican sovereignty definitively won during the War of Independence, the urban powerhouse’s Stade de la République was the natural choice to host the Independent Associations Championship grand final, the very first international championship match held on Omerican soil. The largest stadium in the United Republics and home to powerhouses Association Sportive des Républicains, teams such as Drawkland, Equestria, Starblaydia, South Covello and the Squornshelan Remnant States have historically been welcomed within a venue that has developed something of a cursed reputation to the Incorrigibles.

Arena la Rouge, Port Alexandre, Free State of Mespalia | Capacity: 70,000 | Tenants: United Philibiscostal
Hosting: Norralesse (matchday 10), Astograth (matchday 12), Siovanija and Teusland (matchday 13), Gopnikea (matchday 15), Turori (matchday 17)
If walls could speak, the storied Arena Jean-Jacques la Rouge would have many things to say, with the halls of United Philibiscostal’s hallowed ground having graced distinguished teams such as Equestria, Pasarga, Osarius and Cassaidaigua (among others). The earliest memories of Omerican football—from Omerica’s first-ever World Cup qualifying point picked up against Nouvelle Ecosse to the 3–2 triumph over Nephara that truly started Omerica’s first-ever successful World Cup qualification campaign to the heartbreaking scoreless draw to Electrum that ended the first incarnation of the national team—were birthed here. The venue holds a morbid interest from footballing historians as the last Globe Cup grand final venue before UICA’s discontinuation and holds a special place in the hearts of Omerican supporters, even as the national team have reached out across the country.
Who we are
The United Republican Soccer Federation is the national football association of the United Republics of Omerica. The URSF is organised as a federation of twenty-six republican and seven regional football associations, with special membership status for the Omerican Professional Soccer League, Omerican Amateur Football Association and Omerican University Sports Association. The URSF responsible for overseeing association football in Omerica, organising Omerican representative teams and—with the cooperation of the Federal Anti-Doping Authority and Omerican Council for Sporting Integrity—ensuring the integrity of Omerican football.

Fujai
Fujai (fu:'jaɪ, foo-yEYE) is a small coastal nation of just over 7 million residents, located in the north of the Polarii continent in The West Pacific. While it has a long history of domestic football, it never has been a substantial player on the international scale. The Independents' Cup 8 was Fujai's first international football competition, where the Landslag made it to the Round of 16 before being knocked by Drawkland out in a high pitched match ending 5-4 AET. In the short time since then, the team has attempted to qualify for two World Cups, participated in further Independents' Cups, The West Pacific Summer Olympics, and other regional and international competitions.

The Landslag
The Landslag is made up of the finest players in Fujai, though few would be considered of truly international quality. It is sponsored by Fujais Fotbollforbund (FjFF), a member of Fujais Idrottsforbund (FIF - Fujansk Sports Federation). Most Landslag players come from Fujai's top league, Fyrstserien, though a few come from the second division, Annarserien, and one comes from a university team. While Fujansk clubs are more equal in skill than the average league, the four most dominant teams, the Store Fyra, are Solbakken IL and Bruland IF from the capital of Keiserholde, Trondsnes FF from Strafsund, and Almoren IL from Almoren in the north.

Fujais Idrottsforbund
Fujais Idrottsforbund (FIF) is the federation of labor unions representing all sports players and workers in sports-associated industries. It is separate from the Fujansk government, but receives accreditation and financial and infrastructural support from it. Its structure includes clubs at the local level (e.g. a local sports club), which are constituents of fylke organizations, which are a part of the larger federation representing specific sports (e.g. Fujais Fotbollforbund for football), which are then members of FIF. FIF is a member of the Rhodoniad and OCTWPUS (Olympic Council of The West Pacific Union of Sports), and is Fujai's representative to the Olympic Council.

Fujais Fotbollforbund
Fujais Fotbollforbund (FjFF) is the labor union that governs football in Fujai and represents all players, related workers, and clubs in the country. It governs Fujai's league system, consisting of Fyrstserien, Annarserien, Tredjeserien, and the landsdel leagues. Fylke leagues and lower are organized by the the fylke organizations.

Editor's note on gender: Fujansk culture does not have individual gender categories. The five common genders were historically recognized, though categories and classifications of gender expression have broken down in the last few centuries, resulting in today's non-categorical perception of gender. Since the Fujansk language does not have gendered pronouns, most Fujar choose choose to use gender-neutral pronouns when interacting in the common tongue, such as they/them. All players on the Landslag use they/them pronouns.

Translator's note: Landslaget translates to "The National Team," while Landslag translates to "National Team." In the common tongue, one would say "the Landslag did well" or "Landslaget did well," not "the Landslaget did well." This is because the Fujansk language uses suffixes to create definite nouns instead of articles. See Den Fujanske Ordboken (The Fujansk Dictionary) for more information.

Known commonly as Nykanalen, the stadium is located in Nykanalparken, a park built on the former fortifications that surround Keiserholde's city center. Nykanalen is the largest stadium in the nation, and serves as the home stadium for the Landslag. Like most stadiums in Fujai, it includes large standing areas to increase capacity, lower costs, and help people stay warm by standing instead of sitting in the country's famously cold weather. Nykanalen also recently hosted the second edition of the FFI Liga dos Vencedores and third edition of the Taça das Confederações.
  • Managers: Systa Hendsal, Iren Sattar
  • Coaches: Eirdis Overby, Lasse Lillegård
Players to watch:
  • Arin Salberg - Captain and star striker of Solbakken IL, one of the winningest teams in recent Fujansk history—has led the team in scores at every competition.
  • Solfrid Hellem - Shadow striker, them and Salberg have made a daring duo the past two years of being together on the national team
  • Erna Höss - A star from Annarserien's Hal Stor IK, until this year they were only starter from the second division, but two high profile relegations meant they were joined by many others.
  • Anton Felland - A master of footwork, they can take the ball even from the most experienced players if given the chance

Grand Quebecois at World Cup 86
Starting Lineup
Image

Coaches and Roster
Coaches
Head Coach: Vlad Perezhogin, age 48, from Rimouski, GQ
Assistant Coach: Andrew Cirelli, age 51, from Labrador City, GQ
Associate Coach: Brianna Fitzpatrick, age 34, from Port-Cartier, GQ
Head Trainer: Lilly Pepparkn, age 32, from New Quebec City, GQ
Players
GK: Ricardo DiPietro, age 27, #39
Regarded as one of the most underrated goalkeepers in Canada, DiPietro is one of the pioneers for today's love of soccer in Grand Quebecois. Standing at 1.9 meters (6'4"), he uses his height to his advantage by being able to maneuver around the goalie box and stop any shots from close range. Trying to score from far range? He uses his agile frame to jump up and contest high shots. Good luck trying to score.
GK: Stephen Rusk, age 34, #21
A veteran goalkeeper, Stephen was one of the first goalkeeping stars to come from la République. He keeps his motto the same every day: look good, play better. While he's known for his great goalkeeping on the field, he is also known for his good looks off the field. You ask how he can afford the fancy suits? Well, his resume speaks for itself. Over 300 wins, almost 30 of them shutouts, and a Canada Cup for good measure. He's got this all figured out.
LB: Eddie Orr, age 38, #4
There isn't much to say about Orr. He's a shutdown defender, an outstanding playmaker, and yeah, he can score too. With an outstanding shot from long range, he'll spread the defense out, and once you think he'll shoot, he makes a spectacular pass to a wide open teammate. A veteran of 17 years, he's the idol to millions across Grand Quebecois. He's a great representation of sportsmanship as well: he respects everyone he faces, and doesn't do anything too attention grabbing. He lets his play do it for him.
LB: Bobby Shore, age 37, #22
Like Orr, Bobby is a great all around player and an idol. During his prime, his face was on posters all across Canada. So he must be a shell of his former self now, right? Nope. Posters of him still hang, because he never lost his prime. He might not be the most skilled player, but he is no doubt someone who you don't want to mess with. Called the toughest player in the game, he'll go through an entire team with no fear whatsoever. He's also smart about it: only 3 red cards in his 19 year career. A force to be reckoned with, to say the least.
CB: Nathaniel MacKinnon, age 25, #29
Young, popular, and pretty good at what he does. MacKinnon has plenty of accolades, but possibly his most intriguing one is his first. He was regarded as the Best player under 23 in all of Canada. He won this accolade at the age of 16, while still playing in high school. He opted to join the Amateur Quebec League for 4 years before leaving to play professionally across Canada. A natural highlight maker, he can make passes from the opposite side of the field. Don't believe us? He's done it before. Incredible offensive skills and solid defense makes him one of the biggest stars in Grand Quebecois.
CB: Patricio Wa, age 28, #33
He's got skill and he's got style. With the ability to dribble through opposing players like nobodies business and assist on the rush like your everyday forward, Patricio has shined bright in his career. Despite his offensive skills, he is known most for his defense. He'll hang back on offense and protect the goalie on defense. He makes the goalkeepers job easy. He wants to make sure that the opponent doesn't even have a chance to score.
CB: Colton Healy, age 23, #2
If you want to talk about players who have shown slivers of what they can do, Colton Healy is one. Last year in the AQL, he was in all star for the 4th time in 5 years. Many say that he is one of the best young guys in Canada. He is set to join Winnipeg FC after the World Cup, where he is expected to make a great impact on the team. For now he'll bring his stunning talent to the world stage, hoping to bring the World Cup back to Grand Quebecois.
CB: Cole Brown, age 23, #56
It's great to have one rising star on your team, and two is even better, but when both of those talents have grown up together, it's something else. Cole Brown has spent almost his whole life with Colton Healy, and they were dominating the AQL before Cole joined Soccer Toronto last year. Throughout his career, he's been able to score with ease, dominating the field like no one else. Another rising star from Grand Quebecois.
RB: Jacky Finley, age 32, #70
Saying he's extravagant is a bit of an understatement. Not many people have the audacity to dress up as their coach and walking into the locker room in that costume. This fearlessness is something that Finley brings onto the field. He will stand down to no one, and if that means getting banged up a bit, then so be it. Finley is great at taking the ball away from his opponents , and he uses his passing skills to get the ball downfield and in the back of the net.
RB: Gary Meloche, age 29, #27
While the team Meloche plays for isn't that good, that says nothing about Meloche's play. He has been in the top 5 in league scoring 4 different time, and in the top 10 every other year but one, where he was injured and ranked 12th in the league that year, despite playing less games. As good of a scorer he is, he is a great defender and actually played goalkeeper before switching into the field. Meloche is the definition of a two-way player.
DM: Jarome Froyon, age 24, #17
A young talent known for his boldness, Jarome is a solid mix of everything. He can be the most feared and furious goal scorer one game and the next he'll be a calm, defensive minded star, stopping chances before they start. He is as creative on the field as he is off of it. An avid artist and musician in his spare time, Froyon has been called a coach on the field, talking to his teammates and drawing up plays. Add in the fact that he's 24, and you're almost guaranteed a star in the making.
DM: Gerard Gund II, age 35, #78
If you were waiting for a comeback story, here it is. Throughout his childhood, Gerard dealt with vision issues, to the point where doctors said that he would go completely blind at some point. Despite his problems, he became a great defender on the field. He could also pass the ball with elite skill. Once he had a surgery which fixed his sight, he became a star playmaker and a solid defender who's been making plays for over a decade.
DM: Brandon Powroznik, age 31, #00
Brandon can be an odd character for sure. He was known as the class clown in school, but on the field he was as focused as anyone can be. His focus, combined with dedication and hard work, made him a very impressive player. He was turned away by many major clubs due to his humorous and sometimes questionable nature, but he's been a star in the AQL ever since, and he hasn't looked back.
DM: Ilyavacheslavl Shoentenko, age 25, #13
Ilyavacheslavl is a guy who you've might not of heard of, but once you see him you wonder how you haven't heard of him. Born the son of two soccer stars from Russia who moved to Grand Quebecois, he carries his families torch as another in a long line of Shoentenko's to compete on the world stage. A great all around player, he's got a knack for getting the ball in the back of the net. He hopes to prove that he wasn't given this spot because of his name, but that he earned it because of his skill.
AL: Jared Higgs, age 24, #99
Being one of the most popular players in Grand Quebecois, you would think that it's simply because of skill. Jared has plenty of skill, but he's also got plenty of swagger. Known for his social media presence, he's done a good job at backing up what he says. Such as the day when he said he would score a hat trick, including the game winner. Was it luck? No, just his immense skill on the field.
AL: Fjäril Lampüs, age 28, #16
As a young kid, Fjäril fell in love with the game of soccer. And when I say young, I mean 4 years old. He was playing so good at age 6 that he was playing with 8 year old kids and still doing better than them. Coming up through high school he received numerous offers about playing pro once he graduated, but he insisted that he finishes college first. After being an outstanding playmaker in college, however, he was passed over, and that's their mistake. He would join the AQL and has been on of the best in the league ever since.
AM: Gus Air, age 24, #66
Gus Air is an example of a player who can do it all and still wants to do more. Already a multiple time champion across Canada, an all star every year of his career, and lets not forget he was the the Rookie of the Year in Canada in his first year. A selfless player, Gus can pass like a veteran, but he's not afraid to shoot as well. He can score like one of the best, and he's still getting better.
AM: Nic Tracy, age 25, #6
Another rising talent, Tracy has proven time and time again that he can be Mr. Reliable. He's got great talent on offense, but can also make the clutch play on defense. He can manage to make great moves to get the ball away from the opponent without getting penalized. He's also not afraid to get up close to get the ball. He's is more than willing to risk himself to help his team win.
AR: Tim Bhowmik, age 27, #36
Once regarded as a top prospect in Canada, Bhowmik has not dissapointed. He has led his team in scoring every year since he joined his current team, Ottawa Generals FC, almost 10 years ago. His skill on the field might be the reason he signed the largest contract in team history in his 2nd year, Ø11.5 Million for 5 years, before signing another impressive Ø10 Million, 8 year deal. He holds many franchise records, and he's ready to take his immense skill to the world stage.
AR: Guy Sauve, age 25, #18
With as much talent as Tim Bhowmik, Guy is another superstar in the making. He is regarded as the best young playmaker in Canada, he is able to give the ball to anyone on his team. If you doubt his skill, allow us to tell you the time when he got 10 assists in one game. He gave every other player on his team a pass which became a goal, and just for good measure, scored one for himself. An outstanding player, he's looking for his chance to break out.
CF: Evan McJesus, age 26, #97
For someone who became the captain of his team at age 20, a perennial leader in goals, and a guy who makes playing the game look like it's a walk in the park, there isn't much to say about his play. What sets him apart from all the other greats is his mindset. He knows he's good, but he is never content with how he plays. Always looking to correct his mistakes, Evan doesn't want to be the best ever, he just wants to be the best he can be.
CF: Dave Pastaroni, age 27, #88
Someone who is just starting to find his scoring touch, Pastaroni was a surprise appearance at the top of the scoring list. Everyone knew he was good, but he had finally broken out, and he was a star. Becoming one of the best guys on his team, combined with the veterans who have won championships in years previous, he took a solid team and made them even better, going from a top 10 team to the best in the league. He looks to take his incredible skill to the World Cup, and bring one back to Grand Quebecois.

Schaefer is known around the country to be a prodigy in the Grearish football ranks, with what they call the safest hands in the entire land. Having grown up a few miles outside Plibury, the rural background meant that she had to do a lot of the heavy lifting (literally as well) for her family, being the eldest in her generation. It remains to be seen, however, how well she performs in the World Cup cycle in which the Black Dolphins have already travelled to Delaclava for the Baptism of Fire breaching the quarterfinals, and later try their hand at qualifying for the World Cup proper.
Joanna Rodrigues, 24, #2, Female, Left Back, (Captain)
Cranequin City, NPH Image

Some say, that being named captain of the football side has worked in the favour of Grearish skipper Rodrigues, as the 24-year-old is expected to stand stall to defend the opposition's right wing attacks and overlaps, while making sure our own left-wing is well-fed with a regular supply of deliveries from the back four. A charismatic showing of leadership and an intelligent style of gameplay, coupled with impeccable vision and a sense of innate empathy justified her being adjudged the skipper of the Grearish national team. The entire nation is now rooting behind her. A few stellar Baptism of Fire performances have put this young leader firmly in control of her side.
Alexander Allman, 35, #3, Male, Left Centre Back
Kinetik Islanders, SNL Image

A football team is known to be highly dependent on the pillars in their central defenders who stand like rocks before their own goal, protecting it from shots dangerous enough for Grearia to concede. The experience of the senior-most player on the Grearish squad will most definitely come in handy especially while facing formidable oppositions ranked much higher than Grearia's own. It remains to be seen, however, if age becomes a major hurdle for Allman in the process. The expectations, will still be sky-high from the seasoned veteran, who is loved throughout the nation.
Mateo Elliott, 21, #4, Male, Right Centre Back
Letson Town, ETN Image

The young Mateo Elliott was known to be a bit of a wonderkid ever since he burst on to the national scene when he stood immovable in front of his goal, defending to the end. This well-built right centre back will be one to watch out for, if the pundits are to be believed!
Lilah Buchanan, 20, #5, Female, Right Back
GFA Central Contract

Buchanan's quick rise to the national scene was propelled by her blistering right leg, and her sturdy build, making her a fearsome barrier for most opposition wingers. The tall Grearish defender had caught the eyes of national team scouts in the wake of the announcement of the Grearish participation in the World Cup spectacle, and the performance of this young workhorse has never disappointed since.
Cassandra Preston, 24, #6, Female, Left Winger
Morningstar, NPH Image

Fondly known to the public by the name of Cassandra "Pacey" Preston, the speedy left winger has a vicious left foot in her arsenal that has caught many eyes in the course of the selection process for the Grearish national team. The onus will be on her in the upcoming international season to prove her might, as she will face off against some of the best in the world in battles to assume control of the midfield.
Chance Benton, 18, #7, Male, Central Midfielder
Marketville, EUR Image

Chance Benton, named by his parents after he was born in one of the most difficult times the family had seen in terms of financial and social stability, Chance has definitely taken every chance he could get up until this point to get the coveted central midfielder position in the fairly new Grearish national team. Ball distribution being one of his key assets, will have keen eyes overlooking it, as he tries to help his comrades out to work every inch of space available in the midfield, or wherever his team needs him.
Layla-Mae Potts, 17, #8, Female, Central Midfielder
Ming, CMT Image

Adding to what some might call the youthful boiling blood of the Grearish midfield, comes Layla-Mae Potts, renowned for her pinpoint passing precision, and ability to pick up teammate runs as they occur around her every second. A timid girl when not on the field, Potts shows the greatest of transformation to convert into the fierce central midfielder that Grearia has been blessed with.
Janet Daly, 16, #9, Female, Right Winger
AFC Whittorians, EOT Image

Completing the 4-player midfield formation is another young gun out of Bradwick in the south. Janet, otherwise completing her 10th standard examinations back in school, decided to try out for the Grearish national team when news spread that the BoF was upon us and the nation needed young blood who were hungry for victory. This tactful right winger knows most tricks of the trade to fool her opposition, but a rather short-tempered teenage mentality might prove to be her greatest foe.
Avery McAuley, 19, #10, Female, Striker, (Vice-Captain)
GFA Central Contract

Number 10 and probably one of the most sought-after players for the Grearish NT, Mc Auley is also the vice captain for the national team we take such pride in. The Black Dolphins' premier striker will be on the lookout for a prolific goal-scoring season as a poacher up front, relying on her immense shooting force and gargantuan willpower.
Willis Kline, 24, #11, Male, Striker
Dalaris City, PFA Image

We round off the starting eleven with the inclusion of Kline, the deep lying forward, who prevents the supply chain from the midfielders to McAuley from getting blocked up. Kline, however, is not expected to be rigid in his role, and that the Grearish public can expect to see a flurry of goals from him as well.

Image

Summer-Rose Stuart, 24, #12, Female, Goalkeeper
Reedostown, XAN Image

The second goalkeeper of the 21-player squad is Summer-Rose Stuart, who despite being the elder of the two, finds herself on the bench. The gaffer seems to be quite firm about the first XI choices hat he makes, but one cannot rule out the possibility of a change in the guardian under the sticks once Grearia finds itself in a suitable position.
Jasmine Gardener, 25, #13, Female, Left Back
Steinaux, GRF Image

In what some pundits are claiming could be only a possibility under a major injury condition, Gardener is seen as an eclipsed player by the Grearish community, shadowed by the all-pervasive charisma of Rodrigues as the skipper. Preparing for the worst, Gardener may as well be blooming flowers of success for Grearia in times of grave crisis.
Lydia Radcliffe, 20, #14, Female, Left Centre Back
EFS, EUR Image

With Alexander Allman occupying the LCB role in the first XI, Radcliffe had to be pushed to the back-burners in a situation where the hands of the team management were tied. The age issue might work against Allman in the case of a marathon tournament, though, and that might mean so action for our girl from Donetch.
Callum Frank, 28, #15, Male, Right Back
Kinetik Islanders, SNL Image

Jersey number 15 goes to Callum Frank, who is expected to warm the bench, really, especially in front of the towering figure of Buchanan. Thought to be a good like-for-like replacement, however, Frank has earned his flight to the NT matches.
Theia Golde, 17, #16, Female, Right Centre Back
GFA Central Contract

The 16-year-old wonder in Theia Golde sees herself on the bench accounting for her lack of domestic experience in inter-city clashes, and her injury proneness. The selection at a young age, however, shows some promising signs for the years to come!
Dionne Blackmore, 30, #17, Female, Right Wing
GFA Central Contract

The senior right winger will most likely not see action until some injury occurs, as there seems to be no valid reason to change two fact paced young guns for a player into her thirties. In the belief that she might be able to slow down the tempo of game with her intelligent passing, however, may be the deal maker if she does get a few minutes on the field.
Ruby Houghton, 21, #18, Female, Central Midfield
Burgess FC, EOT Image

Houghton is our reserve central midfielder for the cycle, with impressive performances in intra-Grearish levels. The youthful CM might as well have to see out a few matches for Grearia as the midfield job is predicted to be rather tough, and substitutions would not surprise a lot of people.
Fergus Sloan, 24, #19, Male, Left Wing
Shamrock Cathair, AUD Image

Sloan is our 2nd-best left winger for the national team, this cycle, as "Pacey" Preston seems to have her place solidly cemented into the national team. First-team action is thought to be beyond Sloan, at least for thiss cycle, until and unless a dramatic fall in the performance graph is recorded for Preston.
Aaron Murphy, 20, #20, Male, Attacking Central Midfielder
Ratzupalfu Rhinos, SNL Image

The 20-year-old number 20 of the Grearish NT, Aaron Murphy is one-of-a-kind. With no other ACMs in the team and the gaffer preferring a rather traditional 4-4-2 pproach, Murphy finds himself in the bench. However, if pundits are to be believed, a Murphy substitution in a game could turn it on its head and will thus be a key player for the side, tactically.
Gia Knott, 24, #21, Female, Striker
GFA Central Contract

Another prolific striker in the Grearish ranks, Knott is seen as an out-and-out striker, who is believed to be a perfect replacement for Kline who likes to play in a slightly withdrawn role, in case the gaffer wants to go on the attack mode with the pedal to the metal.

The 4-4-2 is the most widely used formation in the highly nationalised Grearish academy structure for football, where most players grow up playing the 4-4-2, hardly wavering to any other formation.

Atheburn Park, Atheburn (60,000)

Atheburn Park is widely known as the national home ground for the Black Dolphins. This tag, however, is now on the verge of being snatched from the capital city, as the other three of the major four cities in the country are now vying for marquee matches in the qualification campaign for World Cup 86.

To reach the venue, a flight to the international airport at the capital and then a subsequent mode of road transport through the city should suffice.

Image
Dream Games Arena, Plibury (55,000)

Recently taken over by the Dream Games Inc. to support sports in the home nation, the capacity of the stadium has been ramped up to 55,000 for the World Cup qualifier matches to be held in Plibury, apart from the rechristening.

With the rotation of matches becoming an increasing probability, it is likely that you could see some of the bigger games being played here at Dream Games Arena. To reach the venue, a flight to the Plibury International airport, and a mode of public or private transport shall suffice, thanks to the robust Grearish transport facilities.

Image
Hope Springs, Edgenorth (32,000)

Located in the sports-loving town of Edgenorth, it is expected that Edgenorth will provide quite the atmosphere as the supporters' enthusiasm can easily take on that of the two major cities.
One has to take a connecting flight to the city from either of the two international airports to reach the venue. It is known to be fantastic experience to live the moment in this stadium, and the World Cup qualifiers will prove to be the perfect opportunity for the world to witness it, if experiences of previous visitors are to be believed.

Image
Western Wells, Forsho (50,000)

Built on the ruins of the Gloriaxian city of Industus unknowingly, it is now a matter of pride that a city this old lay in ruins underneath to be a foundation for the new city of Forsho. One can reach this beautiful port city by either a connecting flight from the international airports, or via an ocean vessel while the Forsho port welcomes you through it's doors. The beautifully built stadium will see it's first international action in the coming World Cup qualifiers, and is expected to be quite the venue, with top notch hospitality for the richer crowds, and cheap entertainment for the average Joes.

Fans
Filindostani fans are double-edged swords - sometimes they are most passionate fans in Filindostan, sometimes, they can be compared to the worst of internet trolls. Around five thousand diehard fans will travel to the host nation to watch their team play - but they usually bring their megaphones and flares with them - they somehow make it past the guards. Some fans are crazy enough to invade the pitch and cause match delays. The fans recently caused problems to the national team after doing riots and attacked both team buses after Filindostan's 3-0 forfeit against Damukuni during the 26th Campionato Esportiva. As a result, they were ordered to play the first three home matches of the WC85Q in an empty stadium.

NATIONAL STADIUM INFORMATION

For additional information on Filindostan as a nation, click on this link.

For this edition, the FFF have decided to not allocate all the home matches to the national stadium, Gelora Sepakbola Nasional Pilindo/Filindostan National Stadium. The national stadium will only be used for six home matches - against Brenecia, Recuecn, Damukuni, Poafmersia, Crystalline Caverns, and Quebec. The other six matches will be held in three other stadiums scattered around the other three islands. Jakulta Esportiva Stadium will welcome Andromeda Island Group and Revatnagar, while Stadium Petrofilindo in Bandarito will host The Grearish Union and Emastalia. The newest stadium in Filindostan, Wardogs Ground in San Rafael, will host Qvardax and Shokpos.

Filindostan National Stadium, San Marco (capacity - 80,000)
Known to Indos as the Gelora Sepakbola Nasional Pilindo, the national stadium of Filindostan was opened in 90003 with the country's hosting of the U-18 World Cup. The under-18 team of Mercedini has been the first team to officially win a match here, which has been a staple of National team matches and numerous domestic cup finals and super cups, pitting the league champions against the cup champions.

Jakulta Esportiva Stadium, Jakulta (capacity - 30,000)
The stadium was created for two purposes - to house the most ambitious team in the Filindostan Football League, and to create a stadium to host a potential Campionato Esportiva final... until those plans were scuppered by a larger project, which was the GSNP/GNP. Due to the capacity of the stadium as well as its modern facilities and amenities, and also due to the fact that the next largest stadium is also in San Marco, this venue was selected to host the third place match even if the expansion plans didn't push through.

Stadium Bandarito, Bandarito (capacity - 30,000)
One of the venues which hosted the SWC4, and known as Stadium Petrofilindo for sponsorship purposes, the stadium was renovated during the event to be able to host evening matches and increase capacity to 30,000 all-seater. The stadium had been a subject of a presidential speech well-known to the locals where the president lashed his tongue at the corrupt officials of the city.

New San Rafael Stadium, San Rafael (capacity - 25,000)
Known in San Rafael as the Wardogs Ground due to ownership by San Rafael Wardogs, the stadium is the newest stadium built in Filindostan, as part of the ambitions of the Kabunuklan club to attract big name players and close the gap to the rest of the clubs in the FFL. With modern amenities and the only stadium sporting artificial turf to reduce maintenance costs, viewing experience of fans should be good for the duration of the tournament.

NATIONAL KITS INFORMATION
Image Image Image

Filindostani kit makers No Nonsense Sportswear (NNS) have provided the national kits from their debut at the Campionato Esportiva 20 up to the present. Unlike the current kits, Filindostan used a black kit as their primary, and a white kit as their secondary, when the FNSC was still administering the football affairs of the nation. After the split, the nation adapted the red #CE1126 variant as their sporting color, and NNS commissioned a new set of kits prior to their participation in the Baptism of Fire 66 tournament, which they won. Since then, they have used the same design of the kits up to today, as the planned deal with Starblaydi kitmaker ediraf encountered several delays, with the delivery date of the kits still unknown.

Image

The primary kit is red shirt with black trim, paired with black shorts, and white socks. In case of shorts clashes, a red shorts from their alternate kit and red socks are available, if further color clash occurs (i.e., red and white hooped socks, then the black socks which is primarily only used by goalies will be used.

The secondary kit is white shirt with black trim and sides, with the design used the same as the black kit used in their debut tournament, with this paired by a red shorts with black sides, and red socks. Home shorts and socks can be used in case of color clashes.

If both kits clash with the home team, they use the all-black kit usually used by the keeper, with the keeper using a stock yellow keeper kit.

Savojar Roster for World Cup 86

TEAM

STAFF

Coach: Mikaela Rangren
Age: 49 // Coach since: Copa Rushmori 34
Mikaela Rangren has been working for the National Team as an assistant for a long time, before being handed the reins after the sacking of Rune Zackrisson during WCQ 84. She has been given a contract until the end of WC 86, and her appointment represents a turn away from intricate tactics and towards more Savojar virtues. With a more direct approach to the game, relying on Savojarna’s physical culture and passionate, fighting spirit, she has found some success that her predecessors could not find. Rangren has shown a particular strength in keeping the team together, and it seemed like her continued presence as a mediator may have helped to get the team back on track quickly. Reaching two finals of the Copa Rushmori in succession and losing both of them in extra time or penalties, she has been among the better coaches historically; securing qualification to the World Cup has probably cemented her among the Savojar greats.

Coaching Team: Johan Andreassen, Alexey Jotanov, Lasse Tjoer
Ages: 48, 51, 40 // Special functions: Main assistant, Video coach, Physical trainer
Andreassen is an old friend of Rangren who has gone through coaching education together with her. He now supports her as an all-round assistant, although he will probably focus more on leading the team on the pitch rather than supporting tactics and preparation.
Jotanov is a rather creative tactical mind and one half of the U-21 co-coaching team. He has been brought on board as part of the WC90 project to create a more unified approach across the three Savojar national teams (adult, U21, U18). He will be here mainly to support Rangren off the pitch with video trainings and tactics briefing.
Lasse Tjoer is the new physical coach after the retirement of the previous conditional trainer Asgeir Rundberg, and has previously worked for multiple SFS teams. He places a lot of emphasis on discipline, but gives the players a large amount of freedom to tune their practice regime to their own tastes as long as they stick to the targets. He is quite popular in the team, and a good motivator.

Goalkeeper Coach: Valtteri Andersson
Age: 50
Andersson was a long-term goalkeeper for Energie Thorsborg and got directly transferred into the club's youth department when he retired at age 33. Following some good work with the club's youth department, he got trained as a GK coach and worked with the first team and the U21 of Energie for a while before being brought onto the squad of the NT early on. He still works with Energie on the side and is reputed to be very good at developing a goalkeeper's weaknesses.

Doctor: Dr. Christer Ljungberg
Age: 56
Christer is the head of the medical team of the Savojar NT and generally has a reputation of being the team’s good soul. Many players have come to him over the years to discuss their insecurities or physical problems, to the point that many consider Ljungberg to essentially be a second mental coach.

CORE TEAM

#1 Iiro Pakanen
Position: GK // Age: 28 // Height: 194 cm // Club: Jinja City FC (BNJ)
Pakanen is a pretty strong goalkeeper with good reflexes on the line and a very calm behaviour, helped by his experience on the international stage with Jinja City. As the successor to the Savojar legend Viktorija Petrova, he has taken over the goal mouth with a less flashy, but very consistent and successful style that has carried Savojarna to record heights on the international stage.

#2 Flemming Skov
Position: RB // Age: 27 // Height: 185 cm // Club: Admiral Storevik
Part of the legendary DBC 45 squad, Skov’s career has stalled a little in his early twenties, but he has come back strong since his transfer to Admiral and assumed the position in the national team as Nurkanen started flagging. He is an aggressive fullback who will provide offensive pressure, and known for both speed and stamina.

#3 Polina Zirkova
Position: CB // Age: 25 // Height: 182 cm // Club: Ulsa (EUR)
Zirkova is a pretty exciting defensive player and considered one of the most exciting young players in Savojarna right now. She is defensively solid, although not impassable. Her excitement comes from the abilities in building up the game. Zirkova often moves up to assist the midfielders, or plays long balls from the back to one of the wingers hanging back or even all the way to the playmaker. She also is confident on the ball herself, occasionally dazzling the audience with a good dribble. However, sometimes her judgement is lacking and she commits mistakes unnecessarily.

#4 Joonas Andersson
Position: DM // Age: 36 // Height: 187 cm // Club: Admiral Storevik
Andersson is the defensive anchor point of the Savojar midfield, and playing his last international tournament in the Northlights jersey. He is not very fast, but has excellent judgment and tackling skills, making him the pivot of the defence. He will often drop back between the two CB's if Savojarna have the ball and secure the defence to allow the wingbacks to overlap. Also regularly drops back against wide teams, as he is taller than most CB's in the roster and can help with aerial defence.

#5 Matts Pedersen
Position: LB // Age: 26 // Height: 187 cm // Club: Tanrısal (PAS)
Pedersen is another fast, aggressive fullback who is extremely persistent, but joins the offence aggressively. This leads to him being vulnerable to counters over the left side, where he might not be able to react in time if he was too advanced before. He has excellent 1v1 skills on both sides of the ball, but is a bit lacking in passing accuracy. His past issues with decision-making are now considered largely overcome thanks to his high-level experience in Pasarga, and he is considered a mental leader in the team.

#6 Otso Ilkkanen
Position: DM // Age: 23 // Height: 183 cm // Club: FC Rotmunde 1932 (STL)
Ilkkanen is a physical, defensive player with little ball-handling skills. He has a very strong shot, making him a dangerous threat from the back line. Not incredibly aggressive despite his physical skills, and a bit weak in the air, but a strong anchor player. He has played significant minutes at the youth level, earning him a move to Siovanija & Teusland, and is now looking to take root in the adult team. Crown favourite to inherit Andersson’s role.

#7 Mikhail Jashkin
Position: RF // Age: 26 // Height: 176 cm // Club: Directus (EUR)
A fast and technically gifted hybrid winger who is known for a deadly eye and his laser-like passes. While he has decent crossing skills, he tends to opt for a flat pass into the box or a dribbling instead, acting almost as a false nine that plays wide on the right. He is one of the most observed players on the team, and his move to Eura has greatly helped him to develop further into the dominating forward he is today. Holds the title of “most expensive Savojar player in history” as he moved from Farrenton Athletic to Directus for 24 million NSD.

#8 Victoria Maersk [C]
Position: CM // Age: 32 // Height: 157 cm // Club: Vermillion Rage (NPH)
Maersk is a classical box-to-box allrounder who is strong in most tasks, besides her aerial inferiority due to height, and has a high stamina and speed. While not excelling at anything, she is considered a utility player that will probably see a lot of playtime in various positions and roles depending on the situation. Moved to North Sabrefell in a state of insecurity and established herself as a regular in the Premiership, now leading Vermillion Rage.

#9 Arvid Jotansson
Position: ST // Age: 29 // Height: 192 cm // Club: Admiral Storevik
Jotansson can assume a more forward role or something akin to a false nine, but is more at home in the box. He is a tall, physical striker who is not particularly fast, but very hard to separate from the ball and has a strong shot as well as a good eye for his teammates. Despite much criticism for occasional goal slumps and few flashy plays, he holds on to his starting position due to the sheer physicality he can bring to the table.

#10 Morten Poulsen
Position: OM // Age: 26 // Height: 180 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
Poulsen grew from shaky prospect to bona-fide playmaker at Parti, and has enjoyed the love of their fans for a while now despite being in a bit of a slump recently. A creative player that has a large stamina and a good shot, but defensively lacks caution sometimes. Plays in a very similar system at Partisan, although with more offensive freedom; the lack of defensive consciousness in his play made Lundell the first choice.

#11 Simon Jacobsen
Position: ST // Age: 25 // Height: 177 cm // Club: Alnio (CMT)
The (Savojarised) namesake of Starblaydi legend Simeone di Bradini has played in two DBCs, and has now rejoined the national team following some decent seasons in Chromatika. He is a fast striker using his positioning and speed as a key weapon, working best in conjunction with another, more physical striker who can open gaps for him. Defensively, he runs a lot and has good pressing skills, but sometimes lacks in ball-winning ability.

#12 Thomas Larsen
Position: GK // Age: 32 // Height: 195 cm // Club: CASK Thorsborg
Having been considered the perennial Number Two of the Savojar goal, Larsen has been recently relegated to third choice by the quick rise and future promise of Aleksandra Virulainen. Larsen is quite athletic and assumes control of his box. Especially at standards and in crossing situations, he likes to use his height to pluck the ball out of the sky, but he is a bit slow on the line. Has a very good read of strikers.

#13 Juhamatti Rajala
Position: LF // Age: 25 // Height: 190 cm // Club: Brisara FC (CMT)
Rajala is extremely hard to contain because of his explosivity and the fact that despite his height and weight of 92 kg, he accelerates extremely fast. His top speed is actually not that great, and he is somewhat limited in dribbling, but he can be a good utility player to disrupt the opponents. Supposed to grow into a starting role at CASK, he was outplayed by Euran prodigy Wallace Pickton and moved to Chromatika, where he assumed a crucial role at Brisara that earned him an international callup.

#14 Rika Lundell
Position: OM // Age: 24 // Height: 167 cm // Club: North Laithland (NPH)
Having emerged more or less out of nowhere, Rika Lundell has become one of the stars of the current SFS season and is considered part of the miraculous rise of Rotor Värstjö. Lundell is an extremely agile player with dazzling technique, and a good eye for openings and passing lanes. Her defensive capabilities, as well as her chance at withstanding physical opposition, are a bit lacklustre, but she often finds ways to compensate by thinking ahead and using her speed to her advantage.

#15 Lauri Anttakari
Position: CB // Age: 24 // Height: 186 cm // Club: CASK Thorsborg
Anttakari is a classical centre-back who will be the last man very often. He is physically strong and tall, and likes to advance for corners, but not very fast or agile. On the ball, he is confident to play short passes, but knows his limitations and doesn’t try to construct play much. Since his move to CASK, he has been blooming somewhat as he is playing in a more stable system and under less pressure, and his first showings in the national team were promising.

#16 Milla Viipuri
Position: LB // Age: 21 // Height: 179 cm // Club: Swanguard Athletic (QUE)
Viipuri, who moved to Quebec early, can play on both sides and is defensively solid with very few sparkles, but a lot of solidarity and discipline. Received some attention for her precise tackles and good positional play. On the ball, she is likely to play a solid pass, but is very conservative. Very much a call-up of the “future promise” nature, but has shown domestically and in the WCQ that she can hold her own.

#17 Bjarne Thorvaldsson
Position: LB // Age: 29 // Height: 180 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
Thorvaldsson is a physically strong and defensively minded player with relatively high likelihood of fouls. Hard to pass, but also rarely moving forward, he is somewhat of a polar opposite to Pedersen, and looks like he comes straight out of mediaeval Savojarna with a tall, hulking presence and a wild beard. When he has the ball, chances are he tries to get rid of it as fast as possible, even if it means smacking it into the stands.

#18 Sergey Nweke
Position: ST // Age: 23 // Height: 184 cm // Club: CASK Thorsborg
Half-Banijan striker Sergey Nweke has played his youth football in Savojarna, but was increasingly linked with Banija’s national team - until a sudden call-up to the Cup of Harmony. He is a solid, physically strong and quick player with good finishing capabilities and a nose for dangerous openings. While Nweke is rarely playing from the start, he fits a multitude of different situations and can expect regular play.

#19 Krister Voynov
Position: LF // Age: 28 // Height: 177 cm // Club: Raynor City United (VAL)
Potentially the most exciting single player in the Savojar team, this fast and skilful winger is a constant threat. Voynov loves to swing inside to challenge an opposing defender directly and is extremely good in 1v1 situations. He also scores many goals with a strong and precise shot, and has accurate passing skills as well. His main weakness is a lack of defensive work, forcing the left side to cover for his roaming.

#20 Linne Kjaer
Position: CB // Age: 31 // Height: 182 cm // Club: Dynamo Sjoedrhavn
Similar to Omark, she is technically and positionally strong and knows what to do on the ball. Kjaer is somewhat slow but makes up for this mistake by knowing very well where to stand, and has a great skill in standing duels for the ball. Her tackles can be a bit shaky at times and may lead to mistakes or fouls, which is why she rarely resorts to them. Kjaer is also important as the organiser of the defence.

#21 Kristina Midtjaer
Position: RF // Age: 22 // Height: 177 cm // Club: Rockridge Phoenix (BRE)
Midtjaer is a fast winger who runs up and down the sidelines, but cuts in at sharp angles regularly. She almost always runs down the right line and shows very late whether she will aim for a cross or a cut towards the goal. Technically brilliant, but still a bit lacking in defence; Brenecia was supposed to toughen her up and make her better at dealing with the opposition that can be expected at the World Cup. We will see if it worked.

#22 Aleksandra Virulainen
Position: GK // Age: 24 // Height: 181 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
Virulainen uses a great awareness and control of the box to counter-act her comparatively lower height and has shown brilliant oversight. She is among the best goalkeepers in Savojarna, and by far the best of her age when it comes to ball-on-foot skills. Both at Partisan and at the national team, she has quickly established herself and is now second in the chain behind Pakanen.

#23 Roman Forsberg
Position: CB // Age: 28 // Height: 188 cm // Club: Olympia Borograd (STL)
Forsberg is another one of the Savojar ball-secure, modern CB's, but shows some nerves at times. He has greatly profited from taking on a more important role in his club and has cut down on his mistakes, but is still prone to occasional over-aggressive positioning or similar faults. His best skill is his heading, as he is a very strong jumper and tall player. He will often join the attack on standards.

NEWMANISTAN ROCKETS

OFFICIAL ROSTER FOR WORLD CUP 86

Starters:
GK: #1- Matthew Costner (24, Centralia Firebirds)
-- There are not many people that are returning to this team after the debacle otherwise known as the World Cup 85 cycle, and that changeover has allowed Costner the chance to shine. He led the ENSL (Empire of Newmanistan Soccer League) in fewest goals allowed over the last two seasons, which some feel is skewed due to playing in Centralia and their highly defensive system. Nonetheless, he welcomes this opportunity and the fans are excited to see him have this chance.

LB: #2- Shannon Stefansson (25, Loudon Leopards)
-- Manager Michael Starre was not kidding when he said that a problem with the Rockets roster that he inherited was the lack of female players, and the addition of Stefansson got a lot of attention in the press when it was announced. She is tall and swift on her feet, and incredible awareness overall. She is tough enough to play this position, but the most physical defender is right next to her.

LCB: #4- Eric Trotman (27, Dover City Mountaineers)
-- Tall and physical. Holds his position very well, and opposing forwards will have a tough time dealing with him. If there is an issue with him, it is that he can sometimes take fouls and cards out of frustration late in a game if the team is behind, which happens in Dover City a little more than he would like. The fans there love the physical element more than most, so they do not mind it.

RCB: #5- Brian Conlin (22, North Charlotte Wildcats)
-- The most promising young defender in the Empire, who has all of the tools that you want in this position, and when he reaches full development maturity, he may become a hall of famer. It was not a surprise that he was named to the team, but giving him this role is a tremendous vote of confidence. However, there are reports that Conlin is hoping that his presence here attracts the interest of a major international club.

RB: #3- Neil McFerran (25, Tundra Falls Mariners)
-- Similar in make up to Trotman, but smarter about when he is physical and when he backs off of that. Excellent overall awareness, and sometimes might sneak into the offensive rush. In the World Cup, with Michael Starre’s system, we should expect to see him doing that a few times per game.

LM: #6- Parnell Addington (28, Jessicaville Millionaires)
-- After signing a huge contract with the Millionaires, there was some concern that Addington might have a down year in the ENSL, but that proved to be anything but. He is listed as a midfielder here in the roster, and that is his general position, but look for him up front more often than not. He is a better playmaker then he is a shooter, but gets his fair share of goals as well.

CM: #8- Paul Lombardi (28, Pocono City Capitals) (TEAM CAPTAIN)
-- He is a complete player, in any third of the field. Named the captain of the team after having that role for two seasons with the Capitals, something that is a special honor. Like Addington, he is more of a playmaker than a shooter. His size allows him to win most one on one battles at home, and hopefully that can translate into the World Cup.

RM: #7- Madison Desalvo (24, Southport Tigers)
-- The second female in the starting lineup, Madison is the leading female scorer in the Empire, which is impressive considering that she does not play up front. Her shot is powerful, but the fact that she delivers it with pinpoint accuracy is what makes her a great one.

LS: #9- Tyrone Baxter (28, Pocono City Capitals)
-- Possess good speed and a hard and accurate shot. He is a little one dimensional in that he is not going to do much else for the team, however. The type of forward that can occasionally seem “invisible”.

ST: #10- Allister Levy (25, Putnam Lake Eagles)
-- Originally named McAllister, after Jeremy McAllister, but he opted to drop the “Mc” from his first name when he turned 16. The parallels to Newmanistan’s greatest ever soccer player did not stop when he was drafted by Putnam Lake, and he immediately became a fan favorite. He is a goal scorer, trying to pattern his game off of Jeremy. He’s not at that level yet, but the Eagles and now the Rockets are happy with what he has become.

RS: #11- Vinny Donaldson (23, South Tier Seagulls)
-- Speedy and creative with the ball. Can create plays and also get accurate shots on net. Could be a more dangerous goal scorer if he were a little taller, but what he lacks in size he makes up for in heart. This young player is another one quietly hoping a well known international side is paying attention for him to consider moving to.

Regular Substitutes:
GK: #21- Ryan McNamara (28, Tundra Falls Mariners)
-- Ryan was the starter on both the World Cup 84 and 85 teams, as well as our championship winning Campionato Esportiva side.

CB: #22- Tim Marley (31, Rovers United, Zwangzug)
-- Another former starter. Considered to have been on the bubble for making the roster, but got the nod due to Zwangzug being in our group. Expected to get playing time in that game.

CB: #24- Davis Browne (20, Centralia Firebirds)
-- Top young player in the deep Centralia defensive system. More likely to get playing time against Brenecia or The Sarian.
MID: #13- Ashley Norton (24, Southport Tigers)
-- Creative playmaker, lacking in size but makes up for it in skill.

MID: #12- Jarrell Connolly (30, Putnam Lake Eagles)
-- A returnee from the prior World Cup teams. Good all around player, and his familiarity at home with Allister Levy is something the nation will look to utilize at times.

ST: #14- Kenzie Miller (27, Springfield Thoroughbreds)
-- Gave up playing soccer after high school to pursue a baseball career in college. That went okay, but after not getting drafted, she joined an independent soccer club, and was a woman among girls (and boys). At 24, she signed with Springfield, and her career has continued to improve.

ST: #15- Saquon Shields (31, Loudon Leopards)
-- The injury prone forward was a reserve in the last two World Cups, but has been able to show that when he is healthy, he can be as good as anyone. Right now he is healthy, so he gets the opportunity. For now. Hopefully he won’t get hurt walking off the team bus.

Reserves:
GK: #25- Masahiro Kawasaki (19, Daytopia Racers)
CB: #23- Neil Blades (23, North Charlotte Wildcats)
CB: #26- Damian Andrews (18, Seminole Bay Gators)
MID: #16- Dirk Donato (31, Dover City Mountaineers)
MID: #17- Samantha Ellis (19, Penthoria Rivermen)
ST: #19- Jason Cefalo (18, South Charlotte Condors)
ST: #18- Garrett Sarniak (20, Loudon Leopards)

Manager- Michael Starre (Drawkland)
Michael enters his first full cycle as the manager of the Rockets after replacing Miguel Hernandez after matchday 8 in World Cup 85 qualifying. Starre did well, but it was a tough adjustment for him to bring immediate results. He was brought here to bring in someone who had experience in getting a team to qualify for the World Cup, something that he was able to do with Drawkland. In World Cup 77, he got Drawkland to qualify on their first attempt, and managed to do so in the next three World Cups as well. Now, in World Cup 86, he has been able to get the Rockets to qualify. Well, we don’t need to say it was only because we’re the host, do we?

Interested in a Newmanistanian player to transfer to your domestic league?
– The Empire of Newmanistan Soccer League (ENSL) provides an opportunity for our best soccer players to make a good living and pays them fairly enough, so it’s not as if these players are not making good money and living a good life with good enough fan support. However, soccer, or as you may say, football, is not as big in Newmanistan in comparison to other sports. Therefore, they are likely to be convinced and interested in the prospects of playing in a league with a higher profile. Ones that do those domestic club competitions. If you are interested in a player, simply TG me and it is highly likely I will say yes as long as I consider your league to be at least equivalent to the ENSL. If you’re just developing your league and are interested, I ask that you target subs and reserves first. Those transfers will probably be accepted.
