Secondary formation: 3-6-1
Style: (+0.5, in case it is permitted to change it between matchdays [used for next two matches], but +2.34 in case it isn't), Pass by touch, Closed Attack, Pressure, Closed Defense, Open Midfield

Goalkeeper: Pablo Colín (Herodes) (23)GK

Walter San Marcos (Xilophon)(28) RF/RW
Keinri Öctagôn (FSC Meowliph) (26) ST[/b]

If we talk about players, Pablo Colín, the goalkeeper, is considered as a Lev Yashin around the nation, his height and hability to detect where a goal is coming has helped him in his short career
Ferdinand Faibermann is recognized for his ability at passing, as well as with air balls
Ulises Rivera is good at passing the ball, and he has done better in defensive skills, not as good as Ponte, who is good intercepting passes, and he's a bit slow
Navarra is very good at large passing, and a good corner taker as well, he is the best assistant of the national team, while Casquillo and Van de Nainssen both are good at shooting, very fast but will have to improve a bit on passing
Pietro Pelatto is a high-skilled player at dribbling, and very fast as well, very good at passing, but needs to practice more shooting
Volodov is also very fast, he shoots pretty well, but his dribbling skills aren't that good, thought in assisting and in head shooting he is very good
San Marcos is the best of all at dribbling, and a good assister, he controls the ball perfectly, but age started to take effect, not a very fast player, and lacks some strenght and vision
Öctagôn, the captain, is the best at shooting, he has a lot of strenght as well, and good at dribbling, just that he would have to improve headshooting and some centers by air
Roles:
Captain: Öctagôn
Penalties: Öctagôn
Free kicks (left): San Marcos
Free Kicks (Right): Phil Van de Nainssen
Free kicks (long): Faibermann
Corners (Right): Navarra

Netop Football Squad

Nation Name: Netop
Nation Trigramme: NTP
Record: 5-0-2
Colors: Blue, Green, and Yellow
Nickname: The Friends (Netop is what colonizers referred to Native Americans as when they were friendly with them)
IC Information about Netop: The Islands of Netop were a colonization expedition by Kohnhead. When they arrived they encountered a peaceful native people and proceeded to wage war on them. Atrocities were committed by the Kohnheadian colonizers but after years of hardships the native people sent the colonizers back to Kohnhead after successfully rebelling. The South Kohnhead situation also forced Kohnhead to abandon it's overseas colony. While the natives won some Kohnheadian colonizers stayed around and introduced their culture to the native people which is why the names, currencies, and language are quite similar. They also introduce the wildly popular sport of football which is played by amateur teams and leagues across Netop. Netop has finally decided to send a team to the World Cup Qualifiers and after a quarterfinals finish in the BOF expectations are a 6th or 7th place finish.

Coaching Staff
Manager: Joey House (57) (M) House is to put it simply a tactical genius. He was the obvious pick to manage the squad as an unanimous selection and the early signs of picking him are extremely positive.

Assistant: Isaac Galindo (74) (M) Galindo was actually a colonist from Kohnhead but was one of the ones who stayed in Netop and was the leading figure in introducing football to the nation. Unfortunately in recent times he has become quite ill which has prevented him from becoming the full time manager. The thought here is he can help House from the background without having to put too much stress on his body.

Assistant: Vicky Hensley (39) (F) Hensley has recently retired from the sport of football. The idea behind her hiring is to give House the old in Galindo and the new in Hensley as she's supposed to bring new and innovative ideas to the team. Hopefully it actually works out as planned.

Starting XI
GK: #-492 Johnny Howells (22) (M) Howells who is from one of the most Southern Islands has the exact opposite personality of someone who you want on the team. He is the guy who blames others, gets into fights with teammates, has a massive ego, isn't as good as he thinks, and never takes any responsibility. He has some talent although not as much as he says and the backup position is not ideal so he's the starter. Howells played amazing at the BOF and has given us renewed confidence in him.

RB: #2.5 Logan Diaz (28) (M) Diaz is an aging back who has dealt with a lot to reach this point. He once had lots of speed but a couple of major injuries have made him very slow on the right side. He is a safe and secure tackler who you know won't over commit but can be beat on just speed.

CB: #007 Heather Burrows (20) (F) Burrows is the future of the defense. At only 20 she is the second youngest starter on the team. Her main problem is a lack of size but she makes up for it with a massive vertical which prevents her from being a liability on corners. She also tends to be a bit aggressive when making a tackle resulting in a decent amount of cards and over committing errors.

(C) CB: #-17.3 Constance Vaughan (37) (F) Vaughan who has already told the press that she will be retiring after the World Cup cycle is over is the captain of the team. At 37 she has loads of experience and Burrows has said Vaughan has been a great mentor for her. Vaughan doesn't have the most speed at this point but she can be that guy at the back. The rock in the back line who will be always be their for the keeper as the last line of defense before Howells.

LB: #123456 Beau Hendricks (26) (M) Hendricks had to undergo a good battle for this starting spot with Ellie Pitt and despite Pitt being the fan favorite and having the better skill set of the two Hendricks has been named the starter. Hendricks will be under a microscope as he will desperately try to keep his spot.

RM: #-973 Tiana Mitchell (27) (F) Mitchell was brought into the starting XI after Wanda McNeil played horribly. Mitchell doesn't have McNeil's speed but she at least is competent enough on the field and she's next to Park and Holder who are both very good so they can pick up her slack.

CM: #1776 Savanna Park (25) (F) Park is the best player on the team and it's not debatable. She stands in the middle of the formation and has brillant skill moves, a deadly and powerful shot, and good enough speed to make runs. With Holder to her left and the speed of McNeil to her right the midfield is by far the strength of the squad.

LM: #1.754 Max Holder (18) (M) Holder is the youngest player on the squad and is already one of the best. His best traits are his set pieces abilities as he takes the free kicks and corners as well as ideal speed, strength, and size. Holder should be the superstar on the team in a few years if he continues to develop.

RW: #2020 Zoe Kinney (22) (F) Kinney is very raw on the wing and it was a bit of a surprise that she is in the starting lineup. She has good power and with the right development could become something special. "She is a long term project though and could be heading to the bench if she doesn't play well early on." That's what I wrote before the BOF, but at the BOF she showed us what she could do scoring the second most on the team.

CF: #10 Teddy Riggs (33) (M) Riggs is aging but will be by far the top scorer on the team. Riggs has that ability to find the back of the net often and his powerful shot and 6' 4" frame make him the best option in almost all situations. Despite being 33, Riggs has indicated he wants to play for at least five more years.

LW: #-10 Lyla Wormald (24) (F) Wormald is the 1B to Riggs' 1A as she will get the most assists and will be the second best scoring option behind Riggs. Wormald is relatively young but she has a tendency to struggle in high pressure situations and is a very streaky player.

Formation: 4-3-3

Roles
Captain: Vaughan
Free Kicks: Holder
Corners: Holder
Penalties: Riggs

Bench
GK: #493 Marcus Nixon (29) (M)
Def: #24.94 Ellie Pitt (25) (F)
Def: #1492 Bertie Gilbert (17) (F)
Mid: #-973 Tiana Mitchell (27) (F)
Mid: #0000 Wanda McNeil (24) (F)
Mid: #2700 Carole Bond (34) (F)
For: #69 Adelle Benton (25) (F)
For: #420 Lulu Wright (32) (F)

Stadium: Foster Park (7500)

ELEPHANT VALLEY MAIL
South Newlandia announces 23-man roster for the World Cup Qualifiers
(now with added venues!)

The Elephants are returning to the biggest single-sports competition there is after a fairly successful first attempt two years ago. Seeded into pot five as the 87th-ranked team, the Elephants still are a good bit away from discussing actually qualifying, but South Newlandia does want to make a second good impression, even if it isn’t enough to finish in the top two. Most of the core players from the recent years are returning, but especially on the bench, Coach Robert Wolverine clearly was open for some experimentation, with a few up and coming players likely to get a few minutes in. Let’s see the squad, for all players and coaches, only WCC-sanctioned tournaments are counted.

Choose my lineup: Please use my starting line-up I release ahead of the game, but its fine if you don't want to. Substitutions are no problem.
Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod scoring events: Encouraged!
RP injuries to my players: Yes
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes, within reason (TG or Discord first)
Give yellow cards to my players: Yes
Give red cards to my players: Yes
Godmod other events: Yes, within reason (TG or Discord first)
RP about pandemics in South Newlandia: Please don’t.
Style mod: -0.5 (Yes, that’s a different one than usually)

Complete squad for South Newlandia

Coaching team

Head Coach: Robert Wolverine (45)
Assistant Coach: Michael White (39)
Goalkeeper Coach: Matthias Boyle (41)
Athletic Coach: Josef Salazar (26)

All of the above have been on the team for 38 official games. The coaching staff returns in full strength, with no changes since the very first South Newlandian national game back in the Baptism of Fire. As such, the coaches are working together well, and all of them are gaining experience together quickly. The team will, for the most part, employ the now typical 4-4-2 diamond formation of past tournaments.

First starting eleven:
Image

GK: #1 Mikhail Trischuk (27 years old) (35 matches played, 47 conceded goals, 0 assists) Ratzupalfu Rhinos (South Newlandia) CAPTAIN
Mikhail Trischuk is the captain of the team, and he is one of the most important reasons the team is where they are today. His numerous saves have helped the team countless times, and his abilities as a captain are also in high regard. At 27, he is in the best years of his career, and he can frustrate entire offenses on good days. If you have ever heard of the “Miracle of Capri”, that was mostly due to him.

LB: #2 Dhruv Roy (25 years old) (30 matches played, 5 scored goals, 4 assists) Valley Wanderers (South Newlandia)
Dhruv Roy can often be found in the opponents half. Especially after corners, his heading abilities can be dangerous. His long passes are also strong, but when it comes to pure defending against strong opponents, he isn’t as useful. He is the tallest among the field players, and his stays in the opponent’s box sometimes make the team vulnerable to counter-attacks. There is no real fight over the position, so Roy enjoys plenty of starts.

LCB: #17 Jack Schroeder (28 years old) (29 matches played, 1 scored goal, 1 assist) Elephant Valley FC (South Newlandia)
Jack Schroeder debuted in the Baptism of Fire, but he played much better in the World Cup Qualifiers, slowly cementing himself as the best South Newlandian defender. His well-timed tackles have saved the team quite a few times, but he occasionally gets booked as well. At 28, he is slowly aging, but still a powerful defender, and has taken over the directing of the defense.

LCB: #8 Tommy Anderson (23 years old) (23 matches played, 0 scored goals, 1 assist) Anchors FC (Chromatika)
Tommy Anderson has been part of the squad since the Baptism of Fire, and bounced back and forth between the first eleven and the bench. He is still young, and can improve over the next years, and will hopefully do that in Chromatika. He absolutely is a pure defender, rarely sighted in the opponents half. With Anderson as RCB, Wolverine attempts to patch a weakness from the games before, namely a right defense side too slow to stop fast wingers.

RB: #44 Gustafe Wright (28 years old) (1 match played, 0 scored goals, 0 assists) Ineton City (South Newlandia)
From only looking at the numbers, Wright is one of the least experienced players on the team with only a single official match played. He gained his starting role in the Campionato Esportiva and the Olympics. Robert Wolverine seems to stick to his theme of using experienced defenders, as he is 28 years old already and he is mostly a pure defender as well.

DM: #6 Kevin Mohamed (21 years old) (33 matches played, 1 scored goal, 2 assists) Nagelti Rovers (Jeckland)
Kevin Mohamed is the player in Defensive Midfield for the team. While he isn’t the strongest player on the position, South Newlandia lacks viable alternatives. He is a solid defender, but he isn’t great at developing and starting plays for the offense, often slowing things down. At twenty-one years old, he also still has a lot to learn, and is currently doing that in Jeckland.

LM: #9 Corban Green (20 years old) (28 matches played, 1 scored goal, 12 assists) Jecken Newport (South Newlandia) CORNERS
Corban Green is the youngest player in the starting formation at twenty. His lack of experience is made up with fantastic amounts of talent. His shot isn’t as dangerous, while his flanks and corners are among the strongest ones in the country. Due to problems with his knee, he frequently missed games, but he seems to be fit right now. Recently, he hasn’t gotten the results he wanted, but he might be able to bounce back, even with two bench players eyeing his position.

RM: #13 Patrick McMora (23 years old) (36 matches played, 4 scored goals, 11 assists) Walstreim Lions (South Newlandia)
Patrick McMora is the player with the most matches for South Newlandia, having missed only two games. Despite being only 23 years old, he is already playing great. His passes and flanks can be deadly, and while he doesn’t score a lot of goals, he is capable of doing that too. He is one of the players that might be the captain eventually, and he will assume the role of vice-captain for the Qualifiers.

OM: #7 Finnley Wallis (26 years old) (32 matches played, 9 scored goals, 5 assists) Sophie City Royals (South Newlandia) FREE KICKS
Finnley Wallis is one of the most important players of the team. Depending on the situation, he can act as a third striker or even help out in defense. He debuted in the Baptism of Fire, and he is also responsible for free kicks. At 26 years, Wallis is well in his strongest years, and needs to be defended well. No one really knows why we still hangs around with the Royals; he could go to better teams easily.

ST: #11 Brandon Irving (22 years old) (31 matches played, 12 scored goals, 4 assists) Barnley FC (Kohnhead)
Brandon Irving was already part of the squad during the Baptism of Fire, and leads the team in goals at twelve scored goals. Despite his talent, he is largely inconsistent. If he plays well, Irving is hard to stop. He was the other deciding factor at the “Miracle of Capri”. He is currently doing fairly well at the defending Kohnheadian champion, and at 22, he has a lot of time left to improve.

ST: #41 Simon McCabe (30 years old) (20 matches played, 11 scored goals, 3 assists) Elephant Town FC (South Newlandia) PENALTYS
Simon McCabe debuted in the World Cup Qualifiers, and he got a start almost instantly. So far, he is the most efficient striker at 2 goals for three games, on average. He is also responsible for penalties. At 30 years old, he may already be past his strongest days, but he is a force to be dealt with. However, his age sometimes leads him to being too slow or making some easier mistakes now and then.

Substitutes:
South Newlandian soccer teams typically rotate quite a bit, with most of the bench players seeing a bit of action throughout a tournament.

GK: #33 Rufus Rigby (21 years old) (4 matches played, 6 conceded goals, 0 assists) Ruditown Guards (South Newlandia)
Rufus Rigby usually is the main replacement for Mikhail Trischuk. He debuted in the Baptism of Fire, and experience is the only thing separating him from Trischuk. He had a chance to prove himself recently in the Campionato Esportiva, but will be back to the bench for now after the results weren’t exactly ideal, and Trischuk is a very capable goalkeeper.

GK: #12 Abdullah Rowley (30 years old) (0 matches played) Malta FC (Indusse)
Despite being on the team since the Baptism of Fire, Abdullah Rowley has never played an international match for the Elephants. Both Trischuk and Rigby are stronger goalkeepers than him, but in an emergency, he will be ready. He has moved to Indusse in an attempt to live new adventures, as his career will come near its end eventually.

LB: #62 John Li (19 years old) (0 matches played) Setanggi (Kayangan)
John Li, a young South Newlandian talent, is a very interesting player. He has recently moved to Setanggi in Kayangan to make a name for him, and he started a few games in the Campionato Esportiva. Even though he is listed as Left Back, his main position is the Left Midfield, proving that Wolverine has opted for some flexibility on the bench.

CB: #97 Mike Slaoh (23 years old) (0 matches played) Jagomir City (South Newlandia)
Mike Slaoh is a young defender from the second tier side of Jagomir City. He isn’t bad, and probably the best player for Jagomir, but we doubt he can be good enough to play for the national team more often. He did start a few successful games in the Campionato Esportiva, but he has to be considered the fourth, maybe even fifth alternative for the Center Backs.

CB: #5 Philip Gurero (23 years old) (0 matches played) Nickelson FC (Kohnhead)
Gurero is another young and coming player. He is yet to see his first start for the national team, and was in fact added to the roster for the first time. Very good results in Kohnhead have brought him here, and he might be part of a new generation of South Newlandian defenders.

RCB: #30 Manuel O’Neill (32 years old) (24 matches played, 0 scored goals, 0 assists) Royal Puncakpura (Eraman)
Manuel O’Neill is the oldest player of the squad at 32. As he is ageing, he will probably retire in the next three years. Until then, he moved to a top team in Eraman, and hopes to have a nice end to his career. His nomination as a Right Back was a surprise, as O’Neill was a Centre Back for most of his career, once again proving that Wolverine wanted some flexibility in his roster. He was a starter for the last few years, but eventually was dropped again.

LM: #19 Donald Lancaster (21 years old) (15 matches played, 0 scored goals, 1 assist) Walstreim Lions (South Newlandia)
Donald Lancaster is one of the players that already played for the Elephants during the Baptism of Fire, and is the main replacement for Corban Green. He was not been very successful so far, and is still waiting for his first international goal. He will have to fight to get past Green and Li, and has experimented playing as a Defensive Midfield recently, which might be worth some exploration.

RM: #15 Marcus Young (19 years old) (0 matches played) Ratzupalfu FC (South Newlandia)
Young is another talent we haven’t seen before. The talented Midfielder is on the roster for the first time, and has been impressing in the second South Newlandian league. We do not know a lot about him at the moment, but getting past McMora will be difficult.

OM: #16 Abdurahman Bishop (22 years old) (16 matches played, 2 scored goals, 3 assists) Jecken Newport (South Newlandia)
Abdurahman Bishop joined the team for the World Cup Qualifiers, and he fought with Finnley Wallis for the start in offensive midfield. The 22 year old is still lacking experience, but he may be a solid alternative to Finnley Wallis. He is definitely the second option for the position, and will probably surpass Wallis eventually, just not now.

OM: #21 Adam Weiss (19 years old) (0 matches played) Keva Rogianel 09 (Maccian)
Adam Weiss is one of the youngest players of the squad at nineteen years old. He was drafted in the Maccian Football league, and was selected as the thirteenth pick by Keva Rogianel 09. He will likely not play, as both the left and the offensive midfield are already filled with very skilled players, and he has built up a reputation about being unhappy about that.

ST: #50 Michael Glossman (25 years old) (4 matches played, 2 scored goals, 0 assists) Kinjestad Soccer (South Newlandia)
At 25 years old, he is in the prime of his career, but he only got selected for the Cup of Harmony. He came in strong with two goals at the Cup of Harmony, and might replace McCabe one day. At least that was thought of him, but a disappointing Campionato Esportiva brought him back down to earth. He remains a very decent alternative for the first eleven.

ST: #27 Romleb Mada (17 years old) (0 matches played) Project Olimpo Jutsii (Kita-Hinode)
Mada may be the big hope of the South Newlandian team. The extremely talented striker still has lots to learn, but his recent move into the top youth league of Kita-Hinode may provide him opportunities he wouldn’t have had with the Walstreim Lions. He came into the team guns blazing following four goals during the Campionato Esportiva, among them a hat-trick against the favourite Damukuni.

South Newlandian venues (who plays where will be filled in here later)

Elephant Dome (21.500 seats)
Elephant Valley, just a bit away from the western coast of South Newlandia, is not only the capital, but also the economic and cultural heart of South Newlandia. The Elephant Dome is the biggest stadium, home of the Elephant Valley FC, and will host three of the games. The stadium is right in the middle of the Elephant Valley, and seats a bit over 20 thousand people. There was a legendary game with nine goals here, and everyone in attendance remembers it to this day. Th opening and closing matches will be held here, namely the matches against Port Ember (MD1), against Tikariot (MD12) and against Mriin (MD18)

Jecken Arena (16.250)
It is unusual for stadiums to be sponsored in South Newlandia, but the stadium of Newport, right on the East Coast of South Newlandia, is sponsored by a well-known foreign food company. The stadium is the second-biggest in South Newlandia, and the home of Jecken Newport is commonly used for friendly matches. Jecken Arena will host two South Newlandian games. The matches against Filindostan (MD4) and against TJUN-ia (MD16) will be played here.

Walstreim City Stadium (13.000)
Walstreim is one of the smaller South Newlandian cities, located on the Southeast. The most interesting fact about Walstreim is being voted “Most Boring City” the last three times straight. Two South Newlandian games will be played here, namely against Natanians and Nosts (MD6) and against Se Vende Skooma (MD14)

Sophie City Bowl (12.000)
Different to the other three locations, the Bowl wasn’t used as a venue in the Qualifiers for WC85. The stadium on the east of the country is the smallest among the four selected, but still among the bigger South Newlandian stadiums. Two South Newlandian games will be played here, but probably not those against top teams. To be exact, the Elephants will play against Southern Palm Islands (MD2) and against Union Europae (MD8) here.

2 bronze medals.

For a first timer in the World Cup, getting a single bronze medal (Usually via the Baptism of Fire) is insane. Two however? You have to be a special team in order to pull it off. Indeed, that was what Squidroidia did when preparing for their first ever World Cup qualifiers. They entered their senior sides in the 10th IAC and the 73rd Baptism of Fire. Both times they got 3rd place, losing both times (Against HUElavia and Tioguldos) to the runners-up in the semis.

An early slump after their inaugural game against Sharktail was erased by the time the IAC knockouts dawned on Ryūzaki Mito's men, their biggest accomplishment was beating the eventual champions Poafmersia 2-1 in group play. A rejuvenated Squidroidian team, with star players like Hoshi, Hideo and Toshikuni, grabbed bronze against Tequilo and never looked back. They would dominate the Baptism of Fire, but ultimately go to 3rd place. They would dominate against the Gothanita Isles to grab their 2nd bronze in 3 tournaments.

After the wild ride of the Baptism of Fire ended, the manager took one glance at his team and noticed something. This team, it was amazing. Could try to earn a World Cup spot if they tried hard enough. But of course, there was one hole. The goalie. Go Kyushichi had only made 4 clean sheets in his career for the national team. Four. 2 of which were in the 3rd place games. Knowing this was also going to be his final internationals before retirement, he made a risky decision. The gloves were changed over to the 30 year old Real keeper Shingen. He would get his first caps trying to steer the ship and help Squidroidia finish in a respectable position in the qualifiers.

But of course, this was the World Cup qualifiers. Who knows who you're going to face in this journey. This time, however, there are no defending champions, the so called "Free Republics" extinguished in a hellstorm of nuclear weapons after their World Cup victory. Powerful nations still exist. Vilita, Turori, Banija, Nephara, Baker Park, Eura... Every match could end in defeat, or victory, or averageness. Or all 3. They aren't expecting to qualify in their very first attempt, but looking at how they got here... 2 bronze medals in tow... They can cause an upset if they really want to.

Inkopolis City Stadium, owned by the Squidroidian FA, is the largest stadium in Squidroidia. The venue's main tenants are the Squidroidian national football team and the club side Inkopolis FC, who enjoy high amounts of fandom in the Squidroidian Super League, the nation's top flight. The venue is host to the Squidroidian Cup semi-finals and final and has also hosted Squidroidian games for World Bowl XXXIX, games in the domestic lacrosse league, known as the Squidroidian Lacrosse Premier League, and is the centerpiece for a bid to host the FFI Liga dos Venecedores and Taca das Confederacoes along with the nearby Tower Park.

Other features of the Inkopolis City Stadium include the Squidroidian Football Hall of Fame, which highlights key moments in Squidroidian football, as well as the main offices for the Squidroidian FA.

The Starblaydia national football team factbook will tell you more about the team, their style, culture, fans, and history than I can ever write in a simple roster post. If you need more background information or just fancy browsing 16 RL years of roleplayed football history, that's a fairly decent place to look.

Five-time World, seven-time Regional, two-time Under-21, one-time Under-18 and one-time Olympic Men's Football champions Starblaydia will line up for their 67th entry into the multiverse's oldest and most prestigious competition, looking for a 52nd appearance in the Finals. Fresh from being crowned Kings of Atlantian Oceania for the first time in 180 years, the side ranked tenth in the world are aiming with renewed vigour and belief to finally win that elusive and unprecedented sixth World Championship, in the thirty-seventh attempt since they won their last title.

To achieve this, manager Ázëwyn Fëanáro has mixed her core team of tried and trusted individual with the best of the youth squads she has been bringing through since taking command of the entire national team setup, plus the SFA has also almost completed a brand new national elite training and performance centre to further harness elite sporting prowess. Starblaydia have appeared in a World, Regional, Under-21 and two Under-18 Finals in the past sixteen tournaments, winning the U18 and AOCAF Cups and the decision to work from the ground up appears to be paying off. Momentum for deep knock-out runs seems to be on Fëanáro's side at the moment, and Starblaydia are still a side that almost any team in the competition will fear, along with occasionally picking for the NSWC Fantasy Football, and one that can not be ruled out as among the pre-tournament favourites.

The full makeup of the team is as follows:

Staff
AF. Ázëwyn Fëanáro*, Manager, 4,072
44th & 47th World Cup Winner, World Cup Hall of Famer, 61st AOCAF Cup Winning Manager

270 Caps, 71 Goals (Uncapped at youth level)
Fëanáro scored the winner in the 47th World Cup Final against Valanora, denying them a title on their own turf and lifting Starblaydia to the mantle of all-time greatest team. Known for her excellent attacking play, range of passing and great eye for goal that lifts her to second in the all-time goalscorers list too, by virtue of a nearly 1-in-4 ratio, Ázëwyn Fëanáro is a symbol of grace, power and beauty from Starblaydia's golden age, some forty tournaments ago when the Cup was in its 40s. It is these qualities that the SFA managed to recapture with Fëanáro at the helm, bringing her trademark poise and piercing yell to the touchlines after more than a decade of national failures. She's taken her team to the World Cup Final and AOCAF glory, but can this be the time they break through the ultimate barrier?

AC. Aaron Cole, Coach, 43
90 Caps, 54 Goals (7 Caps, 4 Goals at youth level)
The first person to break into the Starblaydi all-time top ten goalscorers in literally generations, Cole had the dubious honour of being the man to finally knock Simeone Di Bradini out of that same list. His excellent footballing brain, aggression levels, tactical nous and all-round Audioslavian/Brenecian level of shithousery made him a uniquely successful striker in a nation more used to smooth flying strikers and hulking target men. These are the qualities he brings to the national team on a much grander scale, giving them a level of needle to their play hitherto unknown for the team in white and purple, proving his style's effectiveness with a win over Audioslavia in the AOCAF Cup Final where they 'out-Bulls'd the Bulls'. The squad selection this time has somewhat fewer spoilers and destroyers than that squad, but this team is developing a character that can did deep and do the dirty work when required.

AO. Amari Ollarion*, Coach, 45
46 Caps, 0 Goals (3 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
The best female Starblaydi goalkeeper since Paola Mendez, Ollarion has been managing her beloved Corinthian Spirits side for five years now, and other than Fëanáro is the most high-profile female coach in the Starblaydi game. Ollarion recently stepped up as coach for the Starblaydi Women's Olympic team and did the no mean feat of taking them to the Quarter-Finals, so she has been brought into the setup to continue her journey on the national level.

Goalkeepers
1. Cosmo Leopoldi, Captain, GK, 36 - Colonial Sile (Vilita) Image
7th Under-18 World Cup Winner, 61st AOCAF Cup Winner
99 Caps, 0 Goals (12 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Cosmo is, quite simply, the best Starblaydi goalkeeper by a country mile, and has been for over a decade since he took the #1 jersey for the 83rd World Cup. His time at Vilitan siide Colonial Sile will undoubtedly continue for at least another decade, but for Starblaydia he perhaps has just this last World Cup left in him before someone else will need to take up the mantle. The man considered the greatest between the sticks for his country since Lucas 'Best in the World' Cable finally has a major championship medal to his name, but there's one he's still trying to add to his collection.

12. Onish Vadaparthy, GK, 24 - Phraen Palace Image
61st AOCAF Cup Winner
2 Caps, 0 Goals (14 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Already taking part in his sixth Starblaydi squad across the age levels during his short career, Vadaparthy made his name as the goalie in the team that finished as Runners Up in the most recent edition of the Di Bradini Cup. Groomed for the past decade as a future Starblaydi Number 1, he has to try and push his way past Leopoldi in the pecking order, while not being usurped by those coming up behind him at pace.

19. Ruby Narvaez*, GK, 18 - Iskara Daii Image
4 Caps, 0 Goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Thrust into goal for the Olympic Women's team at the tender age of 17 and personally coached by Amari Ollarion, young Ruby Narvaez has seemingly snuck into the reserve goalkeeper position, when in fact she may be being given the ultimate preparation to take the starting spot in just a few short tournament's time. Narvaez may not even feature during the Qualifiers, but she's definitely here for the experience, to be around the set-up and to learn, all while pushing Vadaparthy for the spot as the rotational 'keeper after her stint that saw the Womne's team reac h the Olympic Quarter-Finals.

Defenders
2. Andvar Galdarhim^, C/RB, 20 - Karak Ungor Chiefs Image
61st AOCAF Cup Winner
8 Caps, 0 Goals (12 Caps, 2 Goals at youth level)
Coming out of the youth sides, he's the first Dwarf to play for Starblaydia in some thirty years since Dorn Garkadrum won his 66 caps for the side, Galdarhim is most comfortable at right-back, where his boundless energy and pace over short distances is key to his defensive ability. Not always the finest in the tackle, thanks to his short, thick legs, he is however great at intercepting, harrying and pressing the opposition into making mistakes. Often pops up by the side of the opposing penalty area more than his own, Galdarhim is the definition of a shuttle runner, up and down the right flank all game long with excellent speed and stamina.

3. Lucius Wolffe, C/LB, 27 - Iskara Daii Image
61st AOCAF Cup Winner
21 Caps, 1 Goals (12 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Smooth on the ball and with an excellent reading of the game, Wolffe's positional play is his main asset, along with a sweet left foot that can ping the ball all over the pitch with ease. Fast and languid, he also fits in as a centreback, able to comfortably play the ball out when required. His lighter frame, however, means he can be buffeted around somewhat by the more physical players and is much better utilised plugging gaps and exploiting space in midfield with his speed and awareness.

5. Nick Conway, CB, 25 - Phraen Palace Image
61st AOCAF Cup Winner
4 Caps, 0 Goals (5 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
This developing centre-back has the potential to go all the way to the top of the World's game, as he has plenty of the qualities required for the position, along with being exceptional with his feet for a big, strong defender. As the modern game moves on to more and more refined athletic and technical skills, Conway represents the leading edge of this almost technological approach to sport. When you're the person who takes the shirt of a captain like Falka Kaumolainen, then you need to step up your game, and Conway has all the potential to do that.

6. Arn Renatovic, CB, 29 - Nidola United Image
7th Under-18 World Cup Winner, 61st AOCAF Cup Winner
41 Caps, 0 Goals (15 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Every decent Starblaydi back line, so the conventional wisdom goes, needs two types of defender. One has to be the playmaker, the sweeper and the calm head with the foot on the ball. The other should be the hulking bull in a pottery shop, clattering into the opposition with strength, power and toughness, putting their laces clean through the ball and into row Z at every opportunity. Arn Renatovic is not the first kind of player. He's the type to elbow, stamp and kick, all while verbally winding up the opposition at every opportunity, along with being the first face an opponent sees after fouling a Starblaydi player - ususally pressed directly up against their own. Sure, he has more than his fair share of cards, but every team does need a bastard.

13. Joel Alberto Filho, RB/RWB, 28 - Tabeck Cefn Druids Image
7th Under-18 World Cup Winner, 61st AOCAF Cup Winner
21 Caps, 2 Goals (16 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Starblaydia's strategic switch to a 4-3-3 with overlapping full-backs could not have come at a better time for Filho, who uses his natural athleticism and stamina to full advantage in the white and purple. Expect to see him flying down the wing and getting the passes and crosses in for the front three, but having to rely on pace to cover the hard defensive yards and close down any forward or left-wingers in the opposition.

14. April Hoyt, CB, 21 - Jhanna United Image
7 Caps, 0 Goals (12 Caps, 2 Goals at youth level)
Intelligent positional play and a keen presence in set pieces at both ends, Hoyt will have her eyes on claiming the Number 5 shirt in the future. Expect her to be the main central defender used in rotation, giving Conway or Renatovic a rest when required..

20. Odell Lamont, LB, 23 - Nidola United Image
1 Cap, 0 Goals (13 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
With Henri Apollo aging out and Wolffe moved up to the Starting XI, Lamont takes his place on the bench. Solid defender, deals with pacy wingers better than most, but isn't a major attacking threat, which hampers him somewhat in this squad. Lamont coming on will signal a slight change in Starblaydia's tactics, focussing attacks more down the right, with a more solid left side. Ths will have knock-on effects in the midfield, too, so Lamon't tough tackling and closing down will often mean there's a plan B in progress.

21. Vincenzo Bernini, CB, 22 - Vecchio Victors Image
3 Cap, 0 Goals (12 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
One of the tallest players ever to wear the shirt, Bernini is lynchpin of the Vics already at 22. Powerful and great in the air, his long limbs are a terror for any player who faces him as he can pluck the ball from seemingly impossible distances. Sure, he turns like an oil tanker, but there's something that pure height and strength makes up for, dominating any set piece situation.

Midfielders
4. Noah Kranendonk, DM, 27 - Cedrus Soundgardia Image
61st AOCAF Cup Winner
26 Caps, 3 Goals (13 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
Filling the positional shoes of one of the greater and beloved Starblaydi captains in recent history was never going to be easy, but Noah Kranendonk seems to have declared himself up to the task, pushing out the more experienced Ortiz entirely from this squad. For what originally started out as an experiment on Fëanáro's part, Kranendonk continues to be trusted with the role of midfield wrecker - something he loves to do. With long limbs and an excessive level of bravery, you'll often not notice a lot of his defensive contributions from pressing and intercepting, but he'll usually be at the top of the ball-winning charts. Every so often he does something outlandish, too, whether it's blasting in a goal from long range or scything a player down while somehow getting nothing but the ball.

7. Hayden Shepherd, C/DM, 24 - Widdrington Wolves Image
61st AOCAF Cup Winner
5 Caps, 0 Goals (15 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
Hayden Shepherd is a terroriser, a harasser and a presser. He is the shadow that the forward-thinking players have to contend with and attempt to get away from. Seemingly with endless energy and drive to disrupt the opposition and win the ball back, he's not a player you find in the scoring charts, or even in the opposing penalty area. He's got one job, which is to get the ball back, or force the other team into making a mistake. When he does find himself with the ball, he'll often play the simple pass to one of his more skillful teammates, so don't expect anything truly exciting to go through him. Do expect, however, him to be continually getting in the face of players and officials when the whistle blows.

8. Jewel Maddison, C/AM, 22 - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) Image
61st AOCAF Cup Winner
14 Caps, 4 Goals (12 Caps, 5 Goals at youth level)
The X Island midfielder didn't make the starting lineup of the AOCAF 61 final, but when she did come on, she scored Starblaydia's opening goal in the 2-1 win. Now 22, she has ousted the potential Galactico Calindra Apelles out of the squad entirely, which has been seen as a bold, if not somewhat ruthless, decision from Fëanáro. Taking one of the best attacking midfielders in the game and replacing her with Maddison certainly raised some eyebrows, but the former Under-21 captain has been meeting and even exceed Apelles' contributions. If Maddison turns out to have half the career that Apelles did, most would consider that a success. She plays in the same mold, too, as a central midfielder with all the energy and skills to get forward. While Apelles tended to surge into the box, Maddison has that ability to ghost in when least expected, being the body that provides the overload and first to any loose ball with a stinging shot.

15. Donald Royce, CM, 23 - Foxchester Raiders Image
3 Cap, 0 Goals (13 Caps, 2 Goals at youth level)
In years gone by, a Central Midfielder who can do a bit of everything would have been almost immediately overlooked for other, more specialised players who play wide, deep or offensive. In Ázëwyn Fëanáro's brave new setup, however, there's once again a place for the solid, dependable, intelligent but none-too-flashy midfielder. Royce fits exactly this description, as he won't be the one barrelling down the pitch with the ball at his feet on a mazy run and phenomenal goal, but you also won't find him misplacing passes, giving the ball away, or getting his team into trouble.

16. Lucy Saraviva, R/LM, 31 - Foxchester Raiders Image
7th Under-18 World Cup Winner, 61st AOCAF Cup Winner
77 Caps, 24 Goals (14 Caps, 7 Goals at youth level)
Lucy Saraviva's goalscoring record for a wide midfielder is exceptional, even at national level, with one-in-three for the national team. For the Foxes, she is a bullet train down either wing, shooting into the box with pace, power and precision. For the national team, in a middle three, she's a whirlwind of energy and movement, always trying to take the ball wide and spread the play in combination with the strikers and full-backs. She's become a vital part of the attacking set-up of the team, and her hard work has more than rewarded her throughout her career.

22. Franklin Ortiz, DM, 29 - Corinthian Spirits Image
33 Caps, 3 Goals (12 Caps, 1 Goals at youth level)
Hasn't had a game in the white and purple shirt in four years, but with the core of this side requiring tough tackling and high workrate in midfield, Ortiz makes the cut once more as backup to Kranendonk and Shepherd, allowing some rotation between the two and a slightly different style that he brings over the other two defensive midfielders. Made his debut against Delaclava in the 60th AOCAF Cup, and has a decent amount of experience to steady the ship when required.

Forwards
9. Hope Roshanak*, SC, 28 - Malta Lines Image
7th Under-18 World Cup Winner, 61st AOCAF Cup Winner
66 Caps, 37 Goals (17 Caps, 9 Goals at youth level)
28 year old Hope Roshanak will be leading the line for Starblaydia; their main goal threat. After top-scoring for the side four years ago during the World Cup 85 campaign (14 goals in 27 appearances, including a hat-trick over Havynwilde) and two years ago in the AOCAF-winning side with 6, with she'll take up her familiar position at the tip of the 4-3-3 formation. At Malta Lines she's used to being the focus of the side's attacks, supported by up to three midfielders all trying to feed her the ball. In this situation, she has two other strikers around her, working in harmony with her efforts, and it appears to be working just right. Debuted against Audioslavia in the 59th AOCAF Cup.

10. Betanni Jetvanna*, SC, 24 - Kitara AA (Banija) Image
61st AOCAF Cup Winner
31 Caps, 12 Goals (17 Caps, 12 Goals at youth level)
Jetvanna is the up-and-coming young striker for whom pace is their greatest asset. Top scorer for Starblaydia at the disappointing 10th Under-18 World Cup and the so-nearly 48th Di Bradini Cup, her inclusion in the World Cup 85 squad led to the tally of five in twelve appearances and the nod over Velasquez for this youthful, if still rather conventional, team. Now can count herself an AOCAF Cup Champion, as the front three from that side continue their places into the Qualifiers. Originally debuted away vs Baggieland on MD6 of WC85 Qualifying.

11. Marcus Jimenez, SC, 27 - Iskara Daii Image
61st AOCAF Cup Winner
36 Caps, 12 Goals (10 Caps, 4 Goals at youth level)
Since making his debut against Magnaterrica on MD4 of World Cup 84 Qualifying, the Iskara Daii forward has made himself a reliable, but not yet vital, part of the national team set-up. He's often in the right place, but so far has been the understudy to a string of players like McCloud, Roshanak and Velasquez. This will be his first senior tournament where he's handed a starting shirt, so it will be all on his shoulders to prove that he really is the man to help take Starblaydia forward. He's a hard worker, no doubt, but those moments of magic are just slightly too few and far between to make him a stand-out name on the team sheet. Links up well with Jetvanna and Roshanak, though, and will certainly have a role to play in guiding Damocles into the setup.

17. Carmine Velasquez, SC, 31 - Corinthian Spirits Image
7th Under-18 World Cup Winner, 61st AOCAF Cup Winner
61 Caps, 15 Goals (13 Caps, 6 Goals at youth level)
Ever since making her debut at the disappointing Games of the XIII Olympiad, Carmine Velasquez has been something of a disappointment herself. One goal from six appearances along the way to a near-perfect 83rd World Cup, where Starblaydia finished second. No goals at the 46th Di Bradini Cup, then a succession of 1, 2 and 0 goals at the next three major championships. She just didn't manage to set the world on fire, and even when put in a front three throughout the World Cup 85 campaign, her nine goals saw her with the lowest tally of the three (Roshanak, 14; McCloud 11; and even Calindra Apelles got 10 from midfield), and was dumped to the bench for the triumphant AOCAF Cup, where two goals keeps her behind the favoured front three for this tournament. Expect her to be a regular substitute, though as the squad will definitely be rotated throughout the Qualifiers to keep everyone fresh, and the opposition guessing.

18. Omar Al Qubaisi, SC/AM, 20 - Yaton FC (Taeshan) Image
61st AOCAF Cup Winner
10 Caps, 1 Goal (14 Caps, 3 Goals at youth level)
An exceptionally hard worker, who often appears more in the assist and Key Contribution columns than the goalscoring charts, Al Qubaisi needs to really nail himself down to a position that fits within the new style that Fëanáro is developing across the entire national team setup. Still has plenty of time to develop, and plenty of opportunities for experience in the slightly more cut-and-thrust leagues of Taeshan. Tends to play more as a false nine through the middle than an out-and-out striker, but his size and strength also gives him qualities as a target man to bring wingers into play.

23. Lucian Damocles, SC, 18 - Iskara Daii Image
2 Caps, 1 Goals (8 Caps, 4 Goals at youth level)
The Starblaydi #23 shirt has always had a reputation for being the outside choice, the dark horse of the squad. It's usually given to either an aging veteran or an up-and-coming talent, and this time around it's definitely the latter with the Daii's teenage sensation Lucian Damocles. With great pace and an eye for goal he offers a pair of fresh legs and youthful exuberance that might just be the key to unlocking some defences. Though questions remain over his temperament and if he can really do it at international level, yet, he's a good bet for the future.

ediraf once again innovated beyond all competitors with the Generation Five series of football kits, with this version first debuted at the 82nd World Cup Finals.

Generation Five-B blends a number of Starblaydia's iconic kits from across more than a quarter of a millennium, including the return of side panels and a number on the front, while mixing in new design elements such as the subtle stripes of the away kit. Both proudly sport the five gold stars - representing their record-setting five World Championships at senior level - above the Starblaydi Football Association logo. Starblaydi players will also all be wearing rainbow laces, as a symbol of diversity and inclusion.

Home Stadium
Image

The site of the 80th World Cup Final, all of Starblaydia's home matches will take place in the 196,754-seater Stadii Di Bradini, close to the popular tourist destination of Downtown Jhanna, Starblaydia's capital city. Boasting extensive transport links, hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs and entertainment, the Downtown area is the perfect place for a nearly quarter of a million fans to disperse into every evening after a match. It also has a direct route to JAX, Starblaydia's main internal airport and a major air travel hub of Atlantian Oceania.

The stadium is named after Starblaydia's most legendary former player, Jhanna-born striker Simeone Di Bradini: the former World Cup Committee President, World Cup Hall of Famer, and four-time World Cup Winner (all with The Holy Empire as player/manager), for whom the Di Bradini Cup, the world's premier Under-21 tournament, is also named. It is a gargantuan stadium notable for environmentally friendly 'eco-stadium' features built-in since before ground was first broken on the site. Designed and constructed using as many recyclable materials and installed with technology that reduce its carbon footprint and lowers its energy needs, the exterior features a huge array of photovoltaic solar panels on the roof. It was the centrepiece of the 'Green Starblaydia' project many years ago and remains one of the world's iconic stadiums.

Starting Lineup

Overview
The golden generations of Audioslavian football were cycles 59 to 65, during which time the national side won a Baptism of Fire, three AOCAF Cups and two NS World Cups. The national team won nothing of import before and has won nothing since, despite competing in international football between cycles 4 and 29, 59 and 78 and since World Cup 80.

Historically, the national side has a history of doing reasonably well in tournaments. In recent years, this has slipped to simply ‘sometimes doing ok’.

Manager
Sean Patterick has been a controversial figure in the dugout since his arrival at the start of Cycle 85. First of all, his Bulls side were humiliated against EOT in the second round of AOCAF 60. Retribution was gained via two comprehensive victories over their Calanian foes during the last World Cup qualifiers, but the Bulls did so playing a bizzarre striker-less 5-5-0 formation.

Following from Audioslavia’s group-stage exit in World Cup 85, the FFA decided to allow Patterick to continue as Audioslavia manager, setting him the target of at least a quarter-final appearance at the AOCAF Cup. Audioslavia, against all logic, reached the final for the first time in fifteen cycles, and as promised his contract has been extended to the end of this World Cup.

Style
Audioslavia line-up with a fairly traditional 4-5-1 formation, with the athletic Santiago Rosel as the sole forward man. Iago Cacho is a tenacious defensive midfielder that will chase the ball when Audioslavia aren’t in possession, with Moxey and Deschapelles forming an effective midfield partnership ahead of him and Knudsen and Spijkers on the wing. Enterprising young playmaker Eurico Da Rosa can deputise in either of the advanced midfield positions.

At the back, full-backs Osorio and Puskas will get forward at any opportunity, while Logan and Castaldo are more defensive-minded alternates for when bigger teams come calling. In goal, the imposing Goran Stroud is the next best thing in Audioslavian goalkeeping.

Audioslavia have always played a brand of football dubbed kontrapuntzeka - counter-attacking to you or I. The side play deep when not in possession and, when regaining the ball, break quickly, with the four forwardmost midfielders turning into strikers and making probing runs. The idea is to play the ball fast, first-touch, and not give the opposition time to organize.

When in possession, Audioslavia play cautiously, attempting to bring their opponents to them and drag players out of position to exploit the weaknesses.

Audioslavians tend to be a little on the lithe side, with all players bar centre-halves and goalkeepers topping out at about 5’10. They make up for their size disadvantage by utilising gamesmanship and general dirty tactics - shirt-pulling, diving, shouting at the referee together so that the ref can’t send everyone off, and so on.

Home Stadium
Arena Kirola (also known as the 66 Stadium)
Capacity: 78,200
Cathair, Audioslavia
Built in time for World Cup 66, the Arena Kirola has been the home of Audioslavia's national football team for as long as most living Audioslavians can remember. There has been very little call for the national team to change grounds in the intervening years. A long, narrow pitch is perfectly suited to the counter-attacking football preferred by the national team, and tenants 1830 Cathair have adopted their own way of utilising the pitch's peculiarly small (but perfectly legal, we may add) dimensions.

The high, bright white walls that surround the pitch are iconic. Once upon a time electronic advertising boards were mounted on the walls, but that practice has been replaced by the simple act of selling an entire side of the stadium to the highest bidder, who then creates a mural advertising their product. Sometimes this works, like when energy drink company Saltire created a series of artworks based on Audioslavia's two World Cup triumphs to adorn the wall opposite the hard camera before an international against Nephara. Sometimes it doesn't work so well. Take, for example, the thousand-burger-wrapper collage made by fast food chain 'O'Diamhnaghs' over the first half of 1830 Cathair's most recent season.

The 66 Stadium contains an array of amenities, from top quality restaurants to saunas, shops and supermarkets, to appease those sponsors that might only be traveling to the greatest club match in club football in order to network with their business buddies.

The stadium is getting on a bit, and as such the capacity has been lowered after renovations which converted the uppermost section of the top tier into higher-priced boxed seating.

For the first time in over ten cycles, Audioslavian kit manufacturers Kirola will supply Audioslavia’s shirts starting in World Cup 86’s qualifiers.

Team Personality
The Darmeni team will never argue with the referee. Indeed, if anything needs to be brought to the attention of the referee it will be done by either the Captain or Vice-Captain in a respectful manner (or to the fourth-official by the Manager). With regards to foul/dirty play, the Darmeni team will not provoke, or retaliate against any opposition player. Darmeni's expect each team to keep to itself and deal with its own trouble makers; any opposition player who attempts to prevent a conflict by pushing or pulling a Darmeni away from the scene will be promptly told off, as that is the duty of the Darmeni Captain.

Nonetheless, Darmen will play in a relatively aggressive manner. Tackles will be conducted in a way which ensures the opponent ends up on the ground, but causing injury will be avoided as much as possible. On set pieces, Darmenis will stand their ground and will not be easily pushed around, they will not however engage in hugging. In fact, if any opposing player tries to push past them, it is not uncommon for the Darmeni player to feign resistance before simply stepping aside and watching as the opposing player stumbles past on their way to ground. This occasionally backfires however, as the referee may mistake the incidence as having been a foul in the box.

This pool was crafted with a vision for both the present and the future, putting the most suitable players available for each match while developing the most promising prospects for future success.

GOALKEEPERS
1. George Ross (Vice Captain) - 24 years old, 6-foot-4, 175 pounds - Algolia AC (SRS): Tall, sturdy, and a keen observer of the game, Ross makes up for perhaps a lack of natural athleticism with smart field positioning, an ability to communicate with the field players, and quick natural instincts and decision making. He comes off a strong first international season and a spectacular domestic year which included a league title, best goalkeeper and Best XI honors, and an opportunity to further his game in the Squornshelan Remnant States. He was a bit shaky at times at first, but this is a confident Ross at the back of this squad.
14. Donat Soler - 21, 6-4, 185 - Cleopatrana SC: A springy and explosive young keeper with a chip on his shoulder, he's continued to progress in a system that has been cautious to rush him. After a NT snub, he put together an impressive season, allowing the second-fewest goals of all goalkeepers, yet was still left out of postseason honors. But it'll be impossible to ignore this human highlight reel for much longer.
21. Tomasz Janaczek - 31, 6-3, 190 - Shearwater FC (KSK):
35. Vazha Gelashvili* - 35, 6-5, 185 - AC Espene:
45. Tyron Young - 21, 6-6, 190 - Steckholl United:

LEFT BACKS
8. Pavel Cicak - 26, 6-1, 170 - Brookford Otters (NPH): The most aggressive of the defenders, Cicak is a force on the left side of the field. He is physical enough to win many balls back himself, and yet often will lead the attack with the ball instead of finding an outlet pass. He also coordinates well with Ingram and Donato Girardi to run overlap patterns, allowing Cicak to move down the sideline and more forces to come through the middle. Cicak is also the most athletic and speedy on the backline - on the whole team, in fact - and therefore most able to recover when the Delaclav offense breaks down. He has gained a lot of confidence in his brief tenure in the Nepharim Domestic League and has invaluable practice and game experience to lend to a team that is rather lacking in that area.
2. Luke Lemieux - 28, 6-2, 195 - Lotus Park (BRE): A large, physical outside back with a knack for on-field leadership and a work ethic that has effectively compensated for an occasional lack of raw speed or agility. When given the surprise opportunity of an emergency NT call-up, he took advantage and performed well enough to remain as a frequent substitute even with a fully replenished squad.
28. Pau Pan - 21, 5-10, 160 - Parakeet FC:
37. Minotauro Meñica* - 18, 5-6, 130 - Parakeet FC:

CENTER BACKS
4. Keghart Nazaretian - 25, 6-0, 175 - Zenit Attawapiskat (QUE): The breakout player of the United Football League last season and the defensive player of the year with Valhalla Vikings, it's all coming up now for Keghart - new club, back on the national team, and constantly putting pressure on Gusev's role. He's smaller than his counterpart but scarily quick, ferocious and gritty, and he's becoming a better distributor and offensive option all the time.
6. Valentin Gusev - 25, 6-3, 185 - ASK Landsmark (SVJ): Tall and imposing, opponents find it quite difficult to penetrate through the air against Gusev, although he is wanting for speed and a bit more susceptible on the ground. Gusev likes to take risks on the counterattack, following up the action and looking to play a second or third chance. This can either make him a defensive liability or an unanticipated big playmaker. Either way, there's no shortage of excitement in watching Gusev on both ends of the field. He has grown into his role as the lone center back, and although he will be missing his twin brother Alexei on the team, he'll be sure to carry the family torch by himself.
16. Zane Davis - 24, 6-2, 165 - Keppal Cosmos (ZWZ):
24. Oliver Andreu - 32, 6-1, 165 - Cleopatrana SC:

RIGHT BACKS
22. Carlos Berrera - 24, 5-11, 160 - Algolia AC (SRS): The great-grandson of Delaclava's greatest player of all time, Alessandro Berrera, Berrera has consistently responded to the weight of pressure and expectation, and become a very competent containing back. His more conservative style is finally beginning to mesh with the attack-minded NT, and he is a fantastic positional and physical player as well as an effective distributor from the backfield.
12. Kelly Joseph - 28, 6-3, 185 - Steckholl United: Tall and quick, Joseph is a frequent threat down the side of the field, and also takes calculated risks to win the ball in the midfield and push the pace forward. Joseph also blends effective positioning on the defensive side of the field, and would rather force a turnover from a man in front of him than chasing down a breakaway wing. He is adjusting to playing the left side instead of his typical right, but the veteran of the team is up to the challenge.
30. Josh Torres - 25, 5-8, 150 - Catherina FC: The grandson of goalkeeper legend Graham Torres, Josh has taken after the family legacy of keeping the ball out of the net as a field play. Small yet scrappy, Torres doesn't let attack on the sideline go unpunished, and is willing to risk the odd foul to force a turnover, or at least send a message to the opposing team.
26. Arnau Mata - 23, 5-10, 150 - Marque (BRE): Playing alongside defensive stalwarts like Luke Lemieux and Ryan Keating, Mata helped Cleopatrana SC to a surprise league title and a respectable fourth-place finish last year. He will take a leadership role with the team this year and has been granted a call-up for this tournament, with the hopes that he has the steadiness and consistency to be a full-time NT player someday.

LEFT DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS
20. Ryan Keating - 28, 5-11, 165 - Cleopatrana SC: A stalwart on defense with a high level of endurance and physicality, Keating finds himself in a new tactical position as a defensive midfielder in the revamped 3-4-3 formation. It suits his abilities to win the ball back in the defensive half and distribute the ball amongst the offensive midfielders and wings. One of the older players of the team, Keating brings veteran experience and confidence to a team desperately looking to gain traction quickly in this tournament.
15. Kazuo Martin - 19, 5-11, 170 - Crossroads (CMT): A young and quick player with a resilient personality, Martin bounced on and off the national team, struggling to fit into ever-changing tactics. But with the stability that manager Detmer offers, and a stellar season from Martin in helping Brisara FC to fourth place in the Chromatik league, there is finally a place for Martin in the defensive midfield. He hasn't gotten here the easy way, yet remarkably he is still just 19 and is intent on helping this team grow for a long time.
25. Brent Ritchie - 27, 6-4, 195 - Bourne River (ETN): A hybrid-style center back and midfielder, Ritchie was converted to a defensive midfielder role to offer imposing, even bruising physicality in the back of the midfield diamond. Stoic and poised, Ritchie never looked overwhelmed when he was first thrust into the starting lineup in this cycle, and he offers a valuable defensive sturdiness to an aggressive offense led by the front six and aided by aggressive attacks from the outside back.
36. Mark Stone - 19, 6-2, 175 - FC St. Jakob (STL): A strong and powerful player, especially for his age, and a good distributor forward and to the wings. Weaknesses come most in first-step quickness and agility but he can be counted on to play the full 90 minutes.

RIGHT DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS
10. Donato Girardi - 23, 5-9, 145 - Chenoworth Harriers (NPH): Girardi is easily the most skilled with the ball on this squad, and is a great asset in the midfielder, individually penetrating the defense and exploring his options. Girardi is in a new tactical role as left midfielder, to accommodate a lineup that included all the best players, but he looks to play off his midfielders as well as the left back and wing, Cicak and Ingram. Girardi is a naturally creative offensive force who makes up for a relative lack of defensive physicality by serving as an effective "quarterback" for the Phoenixes' high-octane offense.
23. Rubèn Albert - 22, 6-0, 170 - Winnipeg United (QUE): Another late replacement in World Cup qualifying, Albert was strong enough in his first four games - all starts - that he was retained in the starting role. Albert is a physical, gritty defensive-type midfielder with an understated cleverness in tackling and an impressive gas tank for one of the larger players in the midfield. He doubles as a reliable fourth back in closing out games, and while he is the least likely of the midfielders to generate attacking chances, disregard him at your own peril.
17. Ben Romeijn - 20, 6-2, 180 - Blackfields (EUR): Romeijn shone in the past UFL season as the youngest player in a starting lineup of mainly 30-somethings, leading Espene to a mid-table finish. A big, speedy and powerful athlete, he came into his own en route to a mid-table finish, and his skills are starting to come together at just the right time. He is an exciting prospect who's been handed two big opportunities - the national team call-up and a role at second-tier Blackfields in Eura - and he's ready to take advantage.
44. Thomas Pierson* - 19, 5-10, 155 - Manchester:

LEFT ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS
7. Dathan Ingram (3rd captain) - 21, 5-7, 140 - Belgrave (NPH): One of the smallest players on the squad, Ingram is most commonly a threat penetrating the left wing. In a typical attack, Ingram will look to take it to the flag and cross. On the counterattack, Ingram will seek out the middle and can generate wonderful displays of individual skill, either taking the goal himself or dropping the ball off for a neat assist. He is not a significant aerial threat but is counted on to take many corner kicks and free kicks.
19. Sargis Nazaryan - 21, 5-11, 170 - Vilitan League TBC (VIL): Originally a replacement call-up for the national team, He impressed in the role as well as in his season with runners-up Steckholl United, where he took a more prominent leadership role. The 21-year-old midfielder entertained multiple offers and is headed to the Vilitan League, and he will be valuable as a dynamic replacement for Ingram.
41. Malcolm Harvey - 25, 6-2, 185 - Callodown (EUR):
40. Kent Lindblad* - 17, 5-8, 140 - AC Espene:

CENTRAL ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS
3. Timur Zaitsev - 21, 5-10, 150 - Workers Union (EUR): An offensive-minded, energetic player and a great distributor out of the middle. At the club level, he already embraced a leadership role at Cleopatrana SC and now is headed to greener pastures, where he will continue to thrive. He was often used as a "spark plug" substitute, but is ready to take the next step and be a consistent presence in the starting lineup.
32. Rhydian Campbell - 20, 6-2, 175 - New Capetown Falcons (TAE): One of the fastest rising prospects of the team, Campbell is a natural attacking midfielder with a strong physical presence and a nose for the goal. He is noted for his ability to draw defenders into the middle of the field, re-distribute the ball to the wing for outside attacks, and make runs at the net himself to produce scoring. The Taeshan Premier League All-Star also brings added experience from his action in a prestigious league. Campbell hopes to find his footing in this campaign after being removed from the last run.
27. Javor Milić - 30, 5-8, 145 - Catherina FC: Milic has come into his own as a central attacking midfielder within the past few years. He has incredible endurance and grows stronger as the game draws on, and particuarly likes to give trouble for goalies at range. He is a long and rangy player who perhaps lacks the raw foot speed to elude defenders.
38. Steffan Mikines* - 18, 6-2, 165 - AC Espene:

RIGHT ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS
5. Keaton Durbridge (Captain) - 26, 5-10, 155 - Dí Maozöxê (FFD): The recently appointed captain of the team also has Phoenixes football in his blood - his grandfather is longtime midfield staple David Ward. Durbridge has become noted in his appearances with this squad for his control of the middle of the field, the ability to draw out individual possession before finding the right pass to move the attack forward, and his own infrequent yet successful attempts at the goal. In a time where this team continues to experiment with lineups and tactics, Durbridge's skills and level of play have remained a welcome constant, and his evident on-field leadership made him an obvious choice for the revamped Delaclava squad's first permanent captain.
29. Michael Rogers - 27, 5-11, 160 - Miradela GD (KOR):
34. Cael McBride - 23, 6-0, 170 - Burgess FC (EOT):
39. Varlam Kovalev* - 20, 5-10, 160 - Catherina FC:

LEFT FORWARDS/STRIKERS
9. Artem Kohut - 20, 5-10, 165 - Unamaꞌkik Inverness 1877 (QUE): The latest young star, Kohut was called up by interim manager Johannes Detmer and made an immediate impression, notching a goal and an assist in each of his first three games. He possesses quickness, finesse, and combines a nose for the goal with an unselfish chemistry and a deft passing touch. Simply, Kohut puts goals on the board, whether it's his name or someone else's. After putting up 97 goals with Catherina FC last year, he's looking forward to taking his high-flair game to Quebec and back to this AOCAF team.
31. Kobe De Vroome - 24, 6-3, 185 - Manchester: A tall and rangy striker who was sought after to fill offensive holes on Manchester. He promises to be one of the star players of the UFL, with all of the transfers out to foreign leagues, and will take advantage of this opportunity, arising from Detmer's desire to give some prospects a try.
33. Hannes Assink* - 29, 6-2, 185 - AC Espene:
42. Stig Hagelin* - 18, 6-2, 160 - South Harbor:

RIGHT FOWARDS/STRIKERS
11. Lukas Meyer - 20, 6-2, 175 - Farrenton Athletic (EUR): The best natural goalscorer of the squad, Meyer does not have the speed or size to capitalize on many breakaway chances, but in offensive sets and possessions, there is no one more reliable or adept in the 18-yard box. Meyer has a knack for finding the right shot or leading pass within that range, and seems likely to have the best chance at cracking the world's stiffest defenses. He is coming off a record setting campaign in the WC85 cycle and has renewed confidence after leaving a languishing SVV for Euran club Farrenton Athletic.
18. Erik Hovhannisyan - 19, 6-1, 160 - Steckholl United: A physical and energetic player who is forceful at the front, Hovhannisyan couldn't make an impression with the team last AOCAF, but he got his second chance in the last matches of the World Cup qualifiers and made it count. Here he is again, looking to improve under the influence of Kohut and Meyer.
13. Alexei Gusev - 25, 6-1, 160 - Harbor (MRN):
43. Roman Tesarik* - 19, 6-0, 155 - Metro Tirana:

* = first tournament call-up
Note: Nazaryan's assignment in the Vilitan League is still to be determined.

Roles:
Corner Kicks: Ingram, Girardi
Set Pieces: Durbridge if there is a direct shot opportunity, Girardi/Albert for longer distance/placement, Ingram/Girardi for closer range if looking for a header/volley in the box
Penalties: Pick the first player still remaining in the game - Durbridge, Meyer, Ingram, Kohut.

Tactics:

Offensive-minded 3-5-2, particularly utilizing the individual skill in the middle and up front. A bias towards action and chance instead of possession, and an inclination towards taking defensive risks to generate counterattack opportunities.

There is an expectation that the midfielders will be fully active on both ends of the field, employing manpower to have advantages in both the offensive and defense zones rather than relying on positioning. Detmer will frequently make substitutions at midfield, even as early as the start of the second half, to give both the starters and substitutes an opportunity to work at a higher rate for a shorter period of time. (If you RP first, Durbridge is more likely to play the full 90 minutes among the midfielders.)

Boot It!: 3rd Time's The Charm For Pot 4 TJUN-ia?

Postby TJUN-ia » Wed Aug 26, 2020 4:53 am

Image

Name: TJUN-ia
Trigram: TJU
Football Association: FA-TJUN-ia
Nickname: Jaguars (official)/Jags (short form)/Blue and Orange (commonly-used informal)/Draw Masters (satirical)
WCC Ranking: 72nd

Here we are again. After reaching the 2nd knockout round at the CoH, a good performance for the Under-21s and reaching the knockouts of IACX against all odds we're back to what we enjoy the most: World Cup Qualifiers. After one of the most hotly-contested bidding wars we have ever seen, it was Newmanistan and Drawkland who came out on top and are the hosts of the 86th edition of this tournament. This time, 18 groups of 10 are the name of the game and it promises to be a tournament for the ages as the defending champions are nowhere to be seen - they may have crawled back into the depths of hell where they belong, but no one knows for sure.

18 groups of 10 teams each means that 18 teams will be in each pot. As such, TJUN-ia were placed in Pot 4, their highest positions so far and a sign of how far we have come as a footballing nation. Pot 4 teams, like Pot 3, are expected to challenge the Top 2 and to try and cause chaos of their own. With playoffs required and only 18 games to play, who knows how well we may do in this edition of the greatest show...

TEAM
You know the drill by now - David Seems is here, as is assistant Li Xiu Ying. Seems' first IAC was certainly entertaining, but now the pressure is on his shoulders to try and improve on the last campaign. No one wants a repeat of WC85. The two leading figures of TJUN-ian football have suddenly become the focus of some people's attention online for their "closeness", as someone put it. Just like #Austina in the NSTT and the saga of Alfonso Mercado in NSSCRA, TJUN-ia loves to gossip about the country's most famous stars and it would appear Seems and Li are not exempt from the watching eyes.

With the plan still in place to try and send the substitutes into the domestic transfer market soon, the pressure will be on the whole bench to try and show their worth to TJUN-ian football. You can expect to see Seems give all of his substitutes equal opportunities to get some playing time - including "The Hero of Falconbarrow" himself, Manu Kepelewako. That 89th-minute winner against hosts Omerica is still fresh in the minds of many and some will be hoping to see more out of the 21-year-old.

STADIUMS
Stadium: National Stadium
Location: TJUN-ia City, JB TJUN-ia
Capacity: 74,000
Team Record (WQ85): 0W-4D-2L
Image

The hallowed halls of TJUN-ian football have never felt so empty. The National Stadium in TJUN-ia City didn't have a good WC85 at all, only giving the Jaguars 4 draws with no wins at all. Still, many hope that the ground that is base for FA-TJUN-ia itself can see some of the glories it missed out on 2 years ago. Crowds here are usually welcoming to their opponents unless rumours of foul play start to emerge. Due to scheduling for this tournament, only 3 of TJUN-ia's home matches will be played in the JagBase.

Stadium: Beregozera Stadium
Location: Szensky, CSTO Zone
Capacity: 81,000
Team Record (WQ85): 0W-2D-1L
Image

The largest stadium in use for the 2nd WC running, "The Lakeside" Stadium will be looking for blood and so will Krasnaya Stena. No wins and 2 draws were seen by many as a disaster for Szensky, even though one of those draws was the 4-4 thriller against New Lusitania and the Algarves. Many people, especially members of TJUN-ia's ultra-like KS, will be hoping that TJUN-ia's 3 fixtures here will bring pride back to Szensky and to Beregozera itself.

Stadium: Tiankong Stadium
Location: Tiankong, CEA Zone
Capacity: 57,000
Team Record (WQ85): 1W-1D-1L
Image

Nicknamed by many as "the People's Stadium", Tiankong Stadium was the only one to see a home win for the Jaguars - a 5-2 drubbing of Porticalia. The people of Tiankong have had bragging rights ever since, but they know the other 2 stadiums will surely have more success in the near future. The smallest stadium in use for the 2nd time in a row, many hope for more wins out of the 3 games scheduled to play in the CEA capital.

Sajnuran National Football Team

Stadiums

National Stadium

The National Stadium is the largest stadium in Sajnur, with a capacity of 102,000 people. Located in the capital city of Javoser, home to more than 12.5 million people, it is the primary arena for big sporting events in the country, hosting a semi-final and most finals of Sajnur’s FA Cup, several finals of the Tarvolan League, tarvolan being a code of football indigenous to Sajnur and traditionally Sajnur’s biggest sport, and three qualifiers for the 82nd World Cup. It has also hosted the biggest of Sajnur’s concerts and the inaugurations of two Presidents.

Built in 1952 and renovated in 2015, the stadium has a retractable roof, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and affordable food and drink options to provide a comfortable experience for all fans while the stadium has been designed to allow fans to produce a raucous atmosphere befitting of large sporting events. The stadium is easily accessible by public transport, and has thousands of parking spaces for those who choose to arrive in their own vehicles.

Niurka Stadium

Home of FK Khadur, arguably Sajnur’s biggest football club, Niurka Stadium is located in the Khadur area of Ciarkhan, a bustling metropolis of 4.6 million people that serves as Laghia’s state capital. Laghia was a territory acquired by Sajnur in a war stretching from 1982 to 1996, and it is the Laghian people that popularised football in Sajnur. As a result, the province has eight of Sajnur’s 32 professional football clubs despite having only 1/8 of the country’s population, and Niurka Stadium hosts the other semi-final and some finals of Sajnur’s FA Cup.

The stadium, built in 2006, was named after Nicolae Niurka, who was a Laghian partisan that served as a general against Laghia’s pre-1982 rulers and was killed in combat in 1995, aged just 46. With a capacity of 73,000, it is the largest stadium used by a team in the Sajnuran Premier League. Like the National Stadium, it has a retractable roof, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of affordable food and drink options, with many food options being traditional to Laghia. The stadium is easily accessible by public transport, but parking space may be limited on particularly busy days.

Queen Haqla Stadium

Queen Haqla Stadium is a 60,000 seat stadium near the centre of Roskjepa, the capital of Delta state and, with 6.7 million people, the second largest in Sajnur. Home to Rivers FC, the stadium is a regular venue for intimidating displays from Rivers fans, with flares, aggressive chanting, and large banners being a common sight, especially in derbies between Rivers and cross-town rivals Stormers FC.

The stadium was built in 1960 and renovated in 2016, and has all the amenities of the National and Niurka stadiums, while being a prominent sight on the Jagaroi River. As such, along with bus and train, the stadium is also accessible by the Jagaroi River’s ferry. However, like in Ciarkhan, access by car may be difficult. Queen Haqla, for whom the stadium is named, reigned over Sajnur from 681 to her death in 727.

Siyaka Island Stadium

Siyaka Island Stadium is the largest stadium in the Asulian states, with 66,000 people able to fit within its confines. Located in the outskirts of Tawqush, a city of about 5.4 million serving as the capital of Archipelago state, the stadium is the home of FC Mazigh, the foremost football club in the Asulian states. Fans on Siyaka Island often bring instruments to matches, ranging from the arghul to large drums to even accordions, posing both as support to those they like and a distraction for those who they wish to lose.

The stadium is the newest of the four national stadiums, being built in 2017 on what was the Mujar port before it was bombed by the Sajnuran navy during a war that stretched from 1990-2003. The stadium is easily accessible by both car and public transport, and with the New Mujar port being built as part of the stadium development, coastal and island hopping ferries can also stop right outside the stadium.

Manager: Brandon Sonnabend. Recently won the league with Bassabook Old Boys. Can be quick to substitute players out after perceived injuries; his critics say he has some double standards and is less willing to let women potentially play through the pain than men. Led the team to the quarterfinals last cycle in his international debut. There is relatively little change from the last roster, both because we did well and because there aren't any "class of 81" oldsters to age out.

Goalkeepers:
1. Paige Daunten (La Nueva Avenida, Farfadillis) (f) (first tournament: WC82 Q)
12. Itzhak Canterbury (Spenson Suburbia) (m) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 8)
23. Laurel Tinker-Witt (Strathcona Internationals, Kelssek) (f) (first tournament: WC84 Q)

Defenders:
2. Randall Saitta (Bassabook Old Boys) (m) (12 goals) (first tournament: WC83 Q)
3. Allison Levi-Gold (Sporting Esper) (f) (1 goal) (first tournament: WC82 Q)
4. Sydney Stefred (Arlington City) (f) (2 goals) (first tournament: CoH 74)
5. Akhil Sibal (Energija Chernovets, Siovanija and Teusland) (m) (1 goal) (first tournament: WC84 Q)
13. Javier Drouet (Spenson Suburbia) (m) (first tournament: WC86 Q)
14. Tova Miovuku (Trebuchet Cham) (f) (1 goal) (first tournament: WC84 Q)
15. Lissa Crain (102d Jr.s) (f) (first tournament: WC85 Q)
16. Kausalya Vizirani (Namiri Forest) (f) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 8)

Midfielders:
6. Edwin Cherenkov-Nguyen (Trebuchet Cham) (m) (17 goals) (first tournament: WC83 Q)
7. Joshua Twoni (Arlington City) (m) (25 goals) (first tournament: WC82 Q) (captain)
8. Ione Friede (Canbix Muses) (f) (11 goals) (first tournament: WC82 Q)
9. Satenik Banach (Keppal Cosmos) (f) (8 goals) (first tournament: WC82 Q)
10. Jonah McCollins (Bassabook Old Boys) (m) (21 goals) (first tournament: WC83 Q)
17. Riley Kivrin (Arlington City) (f) (1 goal) (first tournament: WC83 Q)
18. Nora Kent-Maner (Sporting Esper) (f) (first tournament: WC86 Q)
19. Sophie Munshi (Namiri Independent) (f) (5 goals) (first tournament: WC83 Q)
20. Amos Noile-Murne (Bassabook Old Boys) (m) (5 goals) (first tournament: WC84 Q)
21. Jaclyn Burkhart (Ephesian FC) (f) (6 goals) (first tournament: WC84 Q)

Forwards:
11. Johan Idmar (Keppal Cosmos) (m) (13 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 8)
22. Gordon Blum (Bassabook Old Boys) (m) (9 goal) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 8)

Numbers 1-11 are the most likely starting eleven, but do whatever.

Stadium list:
MD2 vs. Squornshelan Remnant States: City Athletic Venue, Arlington
MD5 vs. South Covello: Stelladome, Fulpog
MD7 vs. Legalese: Pacific Field, Bassabook
MD9 vs. Verceola: Eglantine Park, FTC
MD10 vs. Barunia: Palloci Pagoda Park, FTC
MD12 vs. Eurasies: Merle Park, Alden [near Hope City, home of Sporting Esper club]
MD13 vs. Abanhfleft: Groth Park, Canbix
MD15 vs. When U Die: Wayr Stadium, Rackham Range
MD17 vs. Liberal Democratic Socialist States: Eagles' Club, Forbridge

Information about some of the stadiums can be found here.

We finally have up-to-date factbooks with information about our players! And some more in-depth biographies!

Colors: White with black stripes. Or black with white stripes. We go for the basics.

If RPing first, please feel free to name goalscorers, injure, and distribute cards to my players at will! You can also godmod events, though I'd appreciate advance warning if you want to take narrative liberties that I couldn't just as easily do to your team (due to being, e.g., an MT, mostly-human country). Put another way, metaphorical "godmodding" is welcome if clever, but I'd avoid the literal sense. Also, do not cause lasting harm in my country and/or to my citizens without contacting me first.

THE KINGDOM OF ERAMAN
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

BASIC INFORMATION
Nation: The Kingdom of Eraman
Demonym: Eramanian
Style Modifier: 2
Formation: 4-1-2-3 DM Wide

Head Coach: Tun Sengalang Petara
Tun Sengalang Petara is the prime minister of Eraman, president of Eraman Football Association, chairman of Royal Daulapura Football Club and arguably the richest man in Melayu Archipelago. As you think the CV couldn't get any longer, he has now appointed himself as the national team head coach.

Tun Sengalang Petara took over as the head coach half-way through the last World Cup qualifying campaign and notched back-to-back victory straight away but failed to qualify after a defeat in the final match. He prefers his team to play with an attacking mindset and high pressing intensity. A long ball from the center back into empty space to find the quick trio upfront is his favourite play.

GOALKEEPER
GK: Dundang Bayan, 33, Royal Arupura
The veteran Royal Arupura goalkeeper is back to don the national team number 1 jersey after 4 years absence. He is widely acknowledged as the best goalkeeper in the country but was dropped from the national team due to a dispute with the national football association. With no domestic football for a season, Tun Sengalang Petara had no choice but to re-call Dundang Bayan and some of the best footballers in the country he banned 4 years ago.

Bench:
GK, Yuyi Dunya, 25, Royal Cittapura
GK, Mikla Kala, 24, Royal Daulapura

DEFENDERS
DR: Lipas Kudung, 27, Royal Puncakpura
Lipas Kudung is a modern full-back who loves to gets up and down the pitch for 90 minutes. His speed and ability to cross the ball is his main assets. Very good going forward but can be susceptible at the back. His eagerness to get forward sometimes left the back open.

DL: Cicak Kudung, 27, Royal Puncakpura
Cicak Kudung is Lipas Kudung's twin brother. The abilities and playing style of Lipas and Cicak is as identical as their face. The only downpoint of it is they are both right-footed. Cicak Kudung always supports the attack down the left flank but frequently had to cut in onto his favoured right foot to hoist crosses into the box.

DC: Badang Gangsa, 32, Anara (Vice Captain)
The Anara captain has shown his leadership qualities after leading his club side to a back-to-back league title. The center back was nicknamed Gorilla for his strength and aerial prowess. With promising young centre back emerging around the country, this is probably going to be the last time Badang lead the back four.

DC: Anton Mora, 24, Royal Daulapura
The mass exodus of national team players from Royal Daulapura 4 years ago forced the club to rely on foreign players and youngsters. One of the youngsters who benefited from the incident is Anton Mora. He stepped up to the first team with flying colours. Composed and plays defence breaking long ball often.

Bench
DR, Feleti Arshis, 29, Damaisari
DL, Waka Sentri, 32, Royal Daulapura
DC, Isileli Hiva, 31, Damaisari
DC, Mahar Mina, 24, Royal Daulapura

MIDFIELDERS
DMC: Putra Daulapura Suara Petara, 30, Damaisari (Captain)
The national team will be led in the midfield by the prince of Eraman himself. The third son of Maharaja Nila Petara caused half of the national team to be banned with his transfer move from his uncle's club, Royal Daulapura to Damaisari on a free transfer. In retaliation, his uncle who is now the national team head coach banned him and his teammates from the national team. Left with no choice or better players, Tun Sengalang Petara decided to lift the ban and Suara Petara is now back with the captain armband after 4 years.

MC: Rimau Belang, 30, Royal Puncakpura
Rimau Belang is another domestic club captain in the national team. He led Royal Puncakpura to various championships in the past. Rimau Belang is deployed as defending midfielder for his club but is expected to play in a more advanced role for the national team.

MC: Mano Bosa, 32, Anara
The veteran playmaker will be the main creative outlet for Eraman. The attack-minded center midfield has the most impressive passing range and passing accuracy in Liga Eraman for the past few seasons and is very deadly in dead-ball situation. He is expected to be responsible for corner kicks, free kicks as well as penalty kicks.

Bench:
DMC, Kinta Biru, 24, Royal Daulapura
MC, Milo Kaulawi, 22, Royal Daulapura
MC, Karipa Senawang, 23, Royal Daulapura

FORWARD
AMR: Kilat Saputra, 28, Anara
Kilat Saputra formed a deadly attack for Anara in the league alongside his twin brother Kudrat Saputra. His main ability is his pace. His speed will keep his opponents afraid as he is able to beat defenders in a footrace.

AML: Kudrat Saputra, 28, Anara
Kudrat Saputra, much like his twin brother is very quick. The left inside forward will use his pace and flair on the ball to beat opponents and create scoring opportunities. Very hard-working and have an eye for goal.

ST: Buisan Buayan, 32 y/o, Damaisari
Buisan Buayan will be the focal point of Eraman's attack. He has shown a surprising amount of upper-body strength in the league which allowed him to shove defenders aside, creating room for him to show his skills and make things happen. He also has the ability to get into a great goalscoring position with his movement.

BENCH
AMR, Perda Nasar, 23, Royal Daulapura
AML, Era Hitam, 20, Royal Daulapura
ST, Putra Daulapura Wikra Petara, 20, Center For Excellence - Apox

They don't have a tactic this season because the Empress gives not a damn for those.

HOME STADIUM
Image
Capacity: 80,000 - Tentai City, Tentai - Tenants: Tentai Astros, Tentai Jiangshi (Gridiron) and Tentai Celestials (Gridiron)
One of the most beautiful venues of Hinodejin football, now larger to properly host teams such as the two gridiron outfits of the Hinodejin capital, the Tentai National Stadium has been one of the main reasons for the rise of Tentai Astros with fans hoping that their relative success rubs off on both gridiron teams. It also hosts the national team since their return to the international fold. Not quite as esoteric as the Hinodejin national basketball team's venue (the Temple) but still makes for quite a fun trip.

MASCOT
Image
Back from popular demand, she's the Hinodejin Empire's mascot. Named Misako, she's an avenging ghost that represents everything that the Imperial Hinodejin Football Association believes that the national team represents: a scary sight, a tendency to frighten opponents and with full desire to take back what's of the Hinodejin right (the World Cup). We also gave her a Naginata because we're still unsure whether someone else will try to do another little stunt like the Dreamplanetian one the other year.[/align]

RP PERMISSIONS
As you might've noticed, this team isn't entirely human. Just wanted to point out they're still fairly close to being human, just in case and a brief search will give you a good idea of what they look like, plus you can ask me about them if you want. Please don't kill the players. Injuries for large stretches of time have to be informed by telegram, or else they'll get the ignore canon treatment. Anything else (bar anything that destroys any city of the empire or its' people, just in case anyone gets a bit too creative) is fine by me.

RP permissions: Your RP permissions are mine, short of death and career-ending injuries. If I can send off your players, you can send off mine. If your players can’t be booked, neither can mine. If I can invade the Earth Kingdom, destroy the Southern Water Tribe and wipe out the Air Nomads in the name of spreading the prosperity of the Fire Nation to the entire world, so can you. Just make it funny/entertaining, if you don’t mind. ;)

Note on surnames: Saltsteadish surnames follow RL Netherlands Dutch conventions on surname prefixes: they aren’t capitalised when used in combination with first names or initials, but are capitalised in all other situations. For example, “Carle de Marħt” is correct, while “Carle De Marħt” is not; however, when the given name is not used, “De Marħt” is proper, while “de Marħt” is not. When multiple prefixes are used, such as in “Zacharias van den Slåp”, only the first should be capitalised (i.e. “Van den Slåp”, not “van den Slåp” or “Van Den Slåp”).

Pandemic disclaimer: I will not be recognising the existence of any international pandemics. This does not mean that I will not recognise the existence of disease outbreaks in other countries, but these will be construed as a series of unrelated outbreaks that do not extend beyond the borders of nations that accept their existence. These outbreaks will not under any circumstances extend to or from the Saltsteadish Commonwealth and any attempt to introduce new disease outbreaks to Saltstead will be immediately nullified by the Ministry of Defence’s newly-acquired “Instantaneous Godmode Neutralisation by Optimised Revision of Events” (I.G.N.O.R.E.) system.

I wish anyone currently afflicted with COVID-19 a speedy recovery and anyone struggling as a result of the pandemic the best. <3

The so-called “Qusma revolution” has been universally recognised by all sides as a dud, with the Royal Saltsteadish Football Association and Tlanx-Nulzk Hal mutually agreeing to part ways after AOCAF LIX. Saltstead have reverted back to the defence-oriented roots of Saltsteadish football under the watch of newly-appointed head coach John Nicholas Rosencrants. The former Saint Anne Athletic head coach has wrested back and tempered the gameplans that Tlanx-Nulzk Hal threw into the wastelands of Kryosis, hoping to recapture the magical first years of Saltsteadish international football. Patience and control are once again the name of the game, the midfield has returned to form as a de facto first line of defence and the attack is once again sporadic and opportunistic.

Personnel
Head coach:
Heir John Nicholas Rosencrants [OME]
Assistant coaches: Heir Thomas de Vricht [OME] and Heir Aleksänder van den Bergen
Fitness coach: Heir Clement Kolen | Medical lead: Frue Annelise Prinsen | Physio: Frue Johanne Angelshus
The grandson of Saltsteadish republican dissidents, Rosencrants played as a forward for the Omerica national team before retiring to coach his hometown club Saint Anne Athletic. Achieving stability at the club and guiding them through an unexpected relegation battle, the Saltsteadish-Omerican’s appointment is seen as providing a safe pair of hands to transition Saltstead back into international football after its unexpected interruption. Rosencrants brings along another Saltsteadish-Omerican in former Omerica midfielder and longtime confidant Thomas de Vricht, while employing native Saltsteader Aleksänder van den Bergen to act as a cultural liaison between the Omerican duo and the rest of the Saltsteadish team structure.

The default Saltsteadish strategy can be summed up in one phrase: “the best offence is a good defence”. The Stallions play a highly opportunistic attack, lying in wait for an opportunity rather than charging head-on, with possession mostly confined to the midfield. Saltstead prefer to play a passing game in possession, while attempting to pry the ball away from the opposition when not, either by intercepting a pass or tackling players. The Stallions will attempt to frustrate and infuriate the opposition and are unashamed of drawing games and advancing via penalty shoot-outs.

Located in the heart of Romanesque city of Ashwell in the borough of Grandstraxe, UICA Champions’ Cup 70 final venue de Näsjonalpark is at the centre of de Näsjonalplaat, the sporting mecca of the realm and home to the Royal Saltsteadish Olympic Federation, the Royal Saltsteadish Football Association and several of the most important venues in Saltsteadish sport. The surrounding city is an ancient city in the modern era and home to the royal family and some of the nation’s biggest attractions, giving visitors plenty of sightseeing to do before and after the game.

The stadium—which takes its name from the father of Saltsteadish democracy, longest-reigning Saltsteadish monarch and great-grandfather of the Reigning King—is the largest in the country, features amenities such as a retractable roof, air conditioning, sports museum and full Wi-Fi access and is readily accessible to fans through the capital’s bus network and Ondergrundtrein metro system. A venue owned and operated solely by the Royal Saltsteadish Football Federation, de Näsjonalpark serves as the usual home of the Saltsteadish national football team, the host venue of Silver and Bronze Division promotion play-off finals and the final of the annual Saltsteadish Royal Cup.

Manager: Image Sam Billic • Formation: 4-4-2

The 86th World Cup is upon us, and it gives nations around the multiverse a new chance to put their name on the map and put together a run which could take them to the World Cup Finals. This will be the third edition since Mercedini last graced the group stage, and it has been deep Cup of Harmony runs ever since then. Two editions ago it was fourth place, last edition it was third, but it the World Cup Group Stage that the Golden Eagles will want to earn a berth to, even if they have been rumbled every time they have got that far. Elidyr Lyndainium has bitten the dust after many cycles in charge, so it now falls to the shoulders of former talismanic striker Billic to take his nation back to the promised land. Domestically, Mercedini have developed their sport somewhat following the recent pandemic which struck the nation, with Langtree United the only bright spot of a rather dismal Champion's League campaign for Mercedinian sides. Alas, the transfer window has seen Mercedinians traverse the multiverse's biggest leagues, which could help the national team develop and apply new attributes to what has historically been a one-dimensional squad. Will the Golden Eagles stream their wings and make it back to their historic heights? Only time will tell.

GOALKEEPERS Name Age Club

GK Ibrahim Elaani 23 Image Dynum City Randajad
GK Anders Vorsini 21 Image Kiaono Locals
GK Bobby Mikelson 23 Image Bwubanza City SC

Mercedini have been unsurprisingly absent from the international stage in recent months. No U18 action, no U21 action, no friendlies, no nothing. To combat that, Billic has once again opted for a risky strategy to surround an experianced and international-standard goalkeeper with young talents which could result in then gaining valuable experience for future tournaments which they will liekly play a major role in. While Mercedini is a name that is common to many football-playing nations nowadays, they nation is getting ever more desperantto re-invent themselves and find a way to get Dini back to their historic highs, where they could beat anyone on a good day. Zoloroni City #1 Hosset will lead the line once again, with Vorsini and Elaani retaining their spots for this campaign following their good performances in dead rubbers throughout qualification. GMikelson also earns a spot in the four for qualification, meaning he becomes the first goalkeeper from a Banijan club to play for a senior team. Goalkeeping is always seen as a vanilla position, rarely changing and evolving in it's position on the pitch despite it's importance. The moves by Billic are seen as a major gamble given the importance of these campaigns, Vorsini and Elaani will need to perform to make those gambles worthwhile for their manager and their association.

There isn't really that much change when it comes to the personnel available in the defensive roster for Mercedini, although the transfer window has certainly changed where those players represent. The major change comes in the shape of Di Sansev, who finally departed Cosumar, and landed in Brigham, Eura for an eye-watering eight million NS$. Subsequently, he was upgraded to first-choice right-back for the upcoming campaign, capping off a stratospheric rise for the defender. Toivonen moved from Cosumar to Nephara, and now plays for Vermilion Rage in a move which is sure to excite the defensive connoisseurs in Mercedini, who have long looked for inspiration elsewhere to develop the defensive roster. Aznelik returns to the first team following a long absence, with everybody else keeping their spots from the last camapign.

Once again, only a handful of changes to the midfield roster and they take the reigns for the national team, with the good performances put forward by the midfield squad during their Cup of Harmony run warranting national praise and re-selection for the upcoming qualification campaign. Mercedini has put itself on the map with it's attractive brand on attacking and controlling football, with the midfield quartet always at the heart of the action as they ebb and flow with the action of the game. Cricket scores can be chalked up when this group is in form, with experienced veterans teaming up with enthusiastic young-guns to provide plenty of variety and depth to Billic as he attempts to get maximum efficiency from his players. Mercedini have often struggled against the top teams due to their inability to keep up with the midfield play, but this group of players are well experienced from one previous cycle together. It is simply a question of whether Mercedini can be put in the same bracket as the top tier of football-playing nations this time around.

STRIKERS
ST Daniel Dostalok 26 Image Starling
ST Ben Chillotov 25 Image Lajuno
ST Adrian Talisky 19 Image Blue Strike Zoloroni
ST Cody Graszeszak 24 Image KF Qastyr
ST Feliks Alva 24 Image Elspachia

In a roster where there has been little to no change, the prolific group of strikers has only seen one change in the last two cycles from the group which got their call-ups to the senior team last edition, with Adrian Talisky keeping his spot in the attacking roster due to his super-sub moments last edition. Talisky is certainly seen as the next generation of talismanic strikers, after Billic and Chillotov have done before them. After scoring more than twenty goals in the past two season for Blue Strike Zoloroni, the teenager has certainly earned his stripes, where he hopes to add another cutting edge to the quintet.

Chillotov and Dostalok remain the top two in the Mercedinian striking world and are selected once again to lead the line. They have been holding steady for their respective clubs, and are finally within their calibre of quality after lighting up their respective leagues before moving abroad to face greener pastures. All of these players used to play for their hometown club before moving for considerable amounts of money to their current clubs, effectively bankrolling their boyhood clubs for a while. Now playing internationally, they have been through the highs and lows of the qualifying schedule, so nothing should come as a shock to them as they go through the gears once again. Minnows and Juggernauts will have to face off against these players, whoever comes out of the other end will likely decide the campaign for Mercedini, with so much tied on the performances of these strikers.

The prosperous capital of Mercedini is the stage for the Mercedinian campaign for World Cup Qualification once again. The Zoloroni Sports City Stadium was built in 2012 and has been the national team's home stadium since it was built. The stadium used to hold over 61,000 people, but a modernising refurbishment meant that the capacity has increased by approximately 13,000 with the new capacity sitting at roughly 74,500 with the new visiting allocation still being just less than a quarter of that at 18,000. The stadium has hosted a Baptism of Fire final and an Independent's Cup final and third-place play-off during IAC's two and five respectively. The Sports City Stadium was the original home of Zoloroni City before they moved to their own stadium, but this cathedral is still accustomed to regular football featuring the nation's and the multiverse's best teams, when it hosts the MFA Cup final plus playoff finals for National League 1 and National League 2. Mercedinians and visiting spectators who don't have tickets can have a drink in one of the many bars and pubs nearby or they can chill in the World Cup FanZone where they can watch the matches on the big screens along with other football enthusiasts.

Mercedini has two national languages and both are universally spoken in the nation as children are taught both at a young age. Mercedinian is the native language of all citizens and is based around the Italian language, knowing the language isn't paramount to a tourist's experience but Mercedinians always appreciate a foreigner attempting to communicate in Mercedinian. If learning a foreign language isn't your thing then English is also universally spoken throughout the nation (especially in cities and other metropolitan areas as it is considered the language of business and commerce). It is common for Mercedinians to speak more than one language with some opting for a third if proficient enough in their previous two, Google Translate is also only a couple of clicks away if you need it.

Mercedini's national currency is the Mercede (M) and is used universally for the nation's transactions. Currently, the Mercede is a strong and reliable currency with 1.56 NationStates Dollars equalling 1 Mercede (M0.64 = 1 NS$). Goods & Services in Mercedini are comparably cheap thanks to low operating costs, free-trade deals and low import tariffs for foreign goods, they can be paid for using the common Mercede currency, although visitors can pay with NS Dollars or use their credit or debit cards. Citizens of Mercedini are pretty well-off with average incomes topping M145,000 (226,822 NS$) which means luxury goods & services are as much a part of Mercedinian shopping-culture as the bargains.

Food & Drink is considered a pillar of Mercedinian culture, which means visitors are literally in for a treat when they visit one of the nations many cafes, restaurants, bars or pubs. As previously mentioned, integration has played a large part in the cuisine, but ultimately Mercedinian cuisine has stayed largely close to it's roots. Mercedinian cuisine, like the language, is based on Italian cuisine, with flavourful pasta and rice dishes on offer, along with pizzas and stuffed flatbreads perfect for carnivores and vegetarians alike. For the tourists, dishes from their home nation will always be on offer which means that visitors can always have a taste of home while enjoying the action in Mercedini. If you're a fan of carb crashes, we think you'll love our nosh!

As it is the official capital city of Mercedini as well as the commercial hub of the nation, Zoloroni is large bustling city littered with modern skyscrapers and office buildings. Zoloroni will be at the centre of the action, holding the host arena as well as hosting most of the pre-festival events that will happen in Mercedini. Visitors will not be disappointed as Zoloroni has restaurants, shops and sightseeing trips in abundance, meaning that players and fans have plenty of activities waiting for them on their off-days. Zoloroni's main sporting attraction is the Sports City, which just a small journey away from the city centre.

Mercedinans are generally very peaceful to visitors and will pretty much always help out foreigners. If you need a recommendation for a restaurant or need help finding direction to their favourite tourist spot, someone will always be at hand to give you a point in the right direction. Mercedinians usually keep to themselves out on the street but will converse with almost anyone if approached in a friendly manner, and it always helps to know a bit of Mercedinian first. As a nation, Mercedini welcomes new visitors with open arms and hopes every tourist has a great experience in our nation. Andiamo!

Siovanija & Teusland National Football Team

Facts

Nation Name: United Republics of Siovanija and Teusland
Short Names: Siovanija and Teusland, the United Republics
Demonyms: Siovanijan, Teus
FA: Siovanija and Teusland Football Association (STFA)
Colours: Blue and gold
Anthem: ‘High Mountain Skies’
Capital City: Borograd
Other Major Cities: St. Jakob, Stelburg, Vlaikograd, Chernovets, Felsenkirchen
Highest Domestic League: Republikaliga
Nicknames: The Goldhorns
Style Modifier: +2.75

Manager: Gavin Hughes (136 games in charge, 72-26-38)

World Cup 86 is a hugely-important one for the Goldhorns. The national team appear to be on the edge of pushing up into the higher echelons of the football world, however, they have several issues to solve before they get there. One of them is a mental block - the Goldhorns have struggled in the biggest games lately, with a loss on penalties in the AOCAF - though who can really fault a loss to Valanora? The 1-0 loss to Terre Septentrionale on the last day of World Cup 85’s group stage left a bad taste, however, and the team will have to do a bit of work to prove themselves again. The other problem is the attack. For all the big guns the Goldhorns possess up front, they’ve been quiet recently. In the last 10 games, which encompasses all of the AOCAF 61 tournament and World Cup 85 group stage, the Goldhorns scored 10 goals. In the final 9 games of the World Cup Qualifying, as well as a friendly with Banija before the tournament, the Goldhorns scored 33 goals. The Goldhorns will continue to use their 4-3-3 system, albeit with a little bit of new blood, and a few minor changes to try and re-start the stuttering offence. This is a major tournament for the team, and results here could define the next few years of football in this country.

40-man Qualifying Pool

Caps and goals updated as of the end of AOCAF 61. Some players, currently 2, have NSWiki articles, those will be linked.

Goalkeepers

GK -- Ewald Heuser -- 25y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 42 caps, 11 clean sheets
GK -- Anatoli Sveteikov -- 31y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- 16 caps, 3 clean sheets
GK -- Yanko Zhelyaskov -- 32y/o -- Farrenton Athletic (EUR) -- 44 caps, 8 clean sheets
GK -- Dennis Eulenberg -- 28y/o -- SV Preisfeld -- Uncapped

Ewald Heuser is the quite clear choice as the #1 keeper for the national team. First a prodigy taking control of the shirt, now on the verge of being this country’s second-most capped goalkeeper of all time. There’s a long way to go before hitting the magic number of Viktor Venev’s 63 caps, but Yanko Zhelyaskov’s number is in play at this tournament. An excellent shot stopper, and a bit of a sweeper keeper, Heuser was also named to the Galacticos longlist, showing his reputation as one of the best keepers in the world. Anatoli Sveteikov has been a very reliable backup throughout his career, while Yanko Zhelyaskov has all the talent to be the #1 but never seems able to put it together with the national team. Dennis Eulenberg comes into the squad, the Preisfeld keeper has shown promise in the Republikaliga and as he enters his prime gets a chance to lay claim to the backup spot behind Heuser.

Left Backs

LB -- Edgar Steimle -- 26y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- 65 caps, 2 assists
LB -- Lyubomir Dimitrov -- 29y/o -- FK Metropola Borograd -- 59 caps, 2 assists
LB -- Axel Richter -- 24y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 18 caps
LB -- Bastian Mendel -- 23y/o -- SW Stahlberg -- Uncapped

Speedy Edgar Steimle has grown into quite the player now, with tons of national team experience under his belt. For club and country he’s one of the finest, and the #3 shirt is his on near-lockdown. Lyubomir Dimitrov has developed into a strong defensive fullback, a bit of a change from his younger days but one he needed to make as he simply doesn’t have the pace of Steimle or Richter anymore. Axel Richter reminds fans of a young Edgar Steimle - quick, moments of brilliance, but prone to mistakes through inexperience. Bastian Mendel has performed well for Stahlberg in the league, a more defensive-minded player, and could become a key player in this squad the way Thorsten Helmke is at right back.

Centre Backs

CB -- Karl-Heinz Jager -- 26y/o -- Raynor City United (VAL) -- 94 caps, 7 goals, 2 assists
CB -- Raphael Klopfer -- 33y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- 143 caps, 5 goals, 4 assists
CB -- Erich Thierse -- 29y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 39 caps, 1 goals
CB -- Taras Maksimov -- 22y/o -- Energija Chernovets -- 9 caps
CB -- Tristan Niedermayer -- 24y/o -- AFC Corvistone (NPH) -- 13 caps

There’s a few players who might be considered undroppable on this team, and Karl-Heinz Jager is one of them. The strong centre back is excellent on the ball, and is already nearing the 100 cap mark for his country. He had the key goal to defeat Saltstead in the AOCAF 61 Round of 24, his 7th such tally for his country. Raphael Klopfer, the captain, the rock of this backline from day 1, is back as well - the 1912 Stelburg man also good on the ball. As he gets older, however, he’ll likely have less of a role within the squad. Two players who’ve just completed big money transfers are here as well. Erich Thierse joined FC Teussen Stelburg this summer, the defender is just entering his prime and will be hoping to build on 39 caps for his country so far. Tristan Niedermayer also moved upwards, joining AFC Corvistone of the Premiership this summer. Niedermayer has great leadership qualities, and has been compared to Klopfer in that regard. Then there’s Taras Maksimov, who has been excellent and more for Energija Chernovets in his career so far - and was named in the Galacticos longlist. While the #4 shirt is Jager’s for many more years to come, the competition is open for the #5 when Klopfer can’t keep up anymore.

Right Backs

RB -- Darijen Vesele -- 24y/o -- Rene Skae (FFD) -- 20 caps, 1 goal, 2 assists
RB -- Pierre-Louis Lotbiniere -- 25y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- 49 caps, 4 assists
RB -- Thorsten Helmke -- 32y/o -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- 52 caps, 3 assists
RB -- Trude Spitz -- 28y/o -- Parrhesia United (NPH) -- 5 caps, 1 assist

Darijen Vesele was probably the breakout star of World Cup 85 for the Goldhorns - and really, he’s been like a snowball down a hill the past few years. One of the better fullbacks in the Republikaliga on a poor FK Vlaikograd 1896 team, he earned a big move to Rene Skae and found great success in addition to pulling on his national team shirt. Pierre-Louis Lotbiniere’s stock has dropped a bit in the national team because of Vesele’s rise, but he’s still very talented and the quick fullback will be pushing to try and take the #2 shirt back. Thorsten Helmke is the veteran, solid option here, capable of coming off the bench in tight games and providing a strong defensive option. While Trude Spitz didn’t have the best campaign at the Olympic Games, she again earns the nod here as a right back. Quick and smart, Spitz will be looking to continue the strong performances she’s given in the national team shirt.

Centre Midfield

CM -- Thorsten Kramer -- 29y/o -- 1830 Cathair (AUD) -- 163 caps, 49 goals, 64 assists
CM -- Todor Mihailov -- 25y/o -- Yeaddin Owls (VIL) -- 65 caps, 4 goals, 9 assists
CM -- Heinrich Bahr -- 24y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 28 caps, 3 goals, 1 assist
CM -- Dennis Brotzmann -- 35y/o -- Herzegovina City FC (BNJ) -- 80 caps, 1 goal, 3 assists

The midfield - and really, this national team - run through Thorsten Kramer. One of the finest players in the world, Kramer has always been excellent for his country, and still in his prime. He has the most caps in national team history, most assists, and third-most goals. He’s made the Galacticos Best XI twice in a row (Cycle 75, 76) - the first central midfielder to do it twice in a row. He joins Schottic midfielder Evelyn Conjure (68, 71) as the only CMs to be named to the Best XI twice. He captained 1830 Cathair to the Champions’ League Final last year as well as a National League title. He is, without a doubt, the finest player this country has ever produced. National team success is the only thing that’s so far eluded him - and he’s determined to change that. Kramer is capable of playing both a bit deeper as a playmaker, and further up as a ‘shadow striker’, as seen through his 49 goals for his country. Todor Mihailov brings stable playmaking to the midfield, he’s very good at controlling the tempo of the game with the ball and is able to use great technical skill to his advantage. Heinrich Bahr is a very similar player to Mihailov - and having been so good for Teussen, while Mihailov had some struggled with the Yeaddin Owls, Bahr might be gnawing at a chance to take over the starter’s job. It’s Dennis Brotzmann’s final World Cup campaign, the Herzegovina City FC captain declaring he’ll retire from international football after this cycle. 80 caps for the midfield anchor, and you can always depend on the tough ‘jack of all trades’ player.

Left Wing

LW -- Mario Kogler -- 28y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 64 caps, 11 goals, 15 assists
LW -- Lojze Kokalj -- 23y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- 26 caps, 2 goals
LW -- Linus Segert -- 26y/o -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- 6 caps
LW -- Andrey Bunev -- 22y/o -- FK Metropola Borograd -- Uncapped

The skilled, speedy Mario Kogler is the Goldhorns’ top option on the left wing, with 11 goals across his 64 caps for his country. He’s been a star for his club, too, one of the best players in the league, and he is very difficult to defend. Lojze Kokalj, meanwhile, has made a name for himself at home as a physical winger who can bully defenders. He’s not all brawn, however - he’s got quite the brain, too, and is quite skilled on the ball. He has an eye for goal as well, something he wants to use more of with the national team. Linus Segert was an integral part of the Felsenkirchen squad the won the league title, and will get a chance to prove his worth here. Andrey Bunev has been a big success story at FK Metropola Borograd, and while the young winger might not get too much time here, it’ll be good experience for his career, which is definitely looking bright.

Centre Attacking Midfield

CAM -- Leopold Bliznakov -- 23y/o -- Zvezda Vlaikograd -- 12 caps, 1 goal, 7 assists
CAM -- Viktor Dimitrov -- 32y/o -- Energija Chernovets -- 133 caps, 8 goals, 61 assists
CAM -- Julian Werner -- 23y/o -- FC Rotmunde 1932 -- 7 caps, 1 goal, 2 assists
CAM -- Kurt Witzel -- 26y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 27 caps, 5 goals, 8 assists

There’s a changing of the guard here - Viktor Dimitrov passing the baton of the Goldhorns’ #10 off to Leopold Bliznakov. The change happened at AOCAF 61, with Bliznakov starting in both the Round of 24 and Round of 16 signaling a new era for the Goldhorns here. Bliznakov is well-regarded for his pace and technicality, especially his ability to play killer through balls. The Zvezda star has been given the reigns now, and the Goldhorns will be hoping he can help out immediately. Dimitrov is still here, of course, and will always be a reliable option for the team - as 61 assists and 133 caps show. The Goldhorns like both players’ ability to drop a bit deeper back and give more freedom to Thorsten Kramer coming forward. Julian Werner and Kurt Witzel both provide good options in the position as well, Witzel perhaps a little more attack-minded while Werner a bit more willing to sit back.

Right Wing

RW -- Lukas Tauscher -- 24y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 56 caps, 16 goals, 18 assists
RW -- Ivo Romanov -- 35y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- 130 caps, 53 goals, 35 assists
RW -- Sinisa Gaspersie -- 29y/o -- Zvezda Vlaikograd -- 8 caps, 2 goals, 4 assists
RW -- Mario Pfitzner -- 32y/o -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- Uncapped

There are some pundits in this country who say that Lukas Tauscher is already the best player on the national team - and honestly, they aren’t too far off. He’s certainly the best domestic player in the Republikaliga, and with his pace, skill and competitive drive he has all the tools to become one of the best. 16 goals so far in his international career proves it, and he’s always reliable. Another era is coming to an end here: Ivo Romanov has said he’s ‘considering’ retirement at the end of this tournament. While that’s not a sure thing - and a player of his skill could likely give it another few years if he wants - the days of Romanov blitzing down the wing in his prime are, sadly, gone. 53 goals is nothing to scoff at though, only the second-ever Goldhorns to reach 50, and perhaps he’s got more left in him here. When he does retire, he’ll be the first Goldhorn entitled to a testimonial - the STFA has set out 100 caps as the minimum for such an honour. Sinisa Gaspersie had an excellent start to Qualifiers last time around, and while he fizzed out a bit over the course of the campaign, he’s earned another call here. Mario Pfitzner was integral to Felsenkirchen’s title win and gets his first call up at the age of 32 here. What this squad does reveal is that beyond Tauscher, there seems to be a lack of young promising right wingers in the country at the moment.

Centre Forward

CF -- Michael Ribbeck -- 27y/o -- Kingsgrove (BRE) -- 102 caps, 81 goals, 3 assists
CF -- Stanimir Ilev -- 28y/o -- CA Paulinthal (PAS) -- 9 caps, 6 goals, 1 assist
CF -- Johannes Mandl -- 31y/o -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- 13 caps, 14 goals, 1 assist
CF -- Ludwig Reichwein -- 29y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 43 caps, 18 goals
CF -- Krasimir Kynev -- 30y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- 90 caps, 46 goals
CF -- Denis Dezelac -- 20y/o -- Haligonian (QUE) (On loan from Olympia Borograd) - Uncapped

This position is supposed to be the bread and butter of the Goldhorns - a nuclear arsenal of talent. However, much like another nuclear arsenal in southwestern Atlantian Oceania, they seem to have gone missing. As we mentioned in the intro, 10 goals in the last 10 games, of which 3 came from forwards. 33 in the previous 10, of which 15 came from forwards Michael Ribbeck had 1 goal at the AOCAF, and scored the Goldhorns’ only goal of World Cup 85 Qualifying. Ribbeck has reportedly taken the offseason to do extra training at his mountain lodge near his hometown, Stahlberg, not satisfied with this performance. Hot on his tail, however, is Stanimir Ilev who is coming off a remarkable season with CA Paulinthal. Ilev scored 27 goals in the league, a number that in recent SuperLiga history has only been bested by current SW Stahlberg man Ragnar Targaryen himself, who had 28 and 33 goal campaigns, also with CAP. Consider also that the next highest scorer was 5 goals back of Ilev, and that Ilev was also splitting starts with teammate Arista Tzorvas. If Ilev can carry that form into this campaign, he could be unstoppable. Johannes Mandl had 30 in Felsenkirchen’s title-winning season, and has an excellent record for his country, which started with a debut hat-trick. Ludwig Reichwein and Krasimir Kynev are always reliable, Kynev looking to prove that he’s still an important player for his country. The new boy is Denis Dezelac, who has already enjoyed some international success: a Di Bradini Cup bronze medal, and a Quarterfinal finish at the Olympic Games. Dezelac has developed a bit of a reputation as, in one pundit’s words, ‘a psycho.’ He’s threatened to fight opponents in youth league games, made headlines for excessive partying during the Olympics, and is extremely cocky - something not normal in a country full of athletes who keep their heads down and give the most basic answers in the media. For all the noise, the thing he’s best at is putting the ball in the back of the net, as seen in each of those campaigns and a successful title win with Haligonian. He wants to make a splash at this World Cup as the new kid on the block, and prove why much of the national team’s future hopes are pinned on him. Whether he’ll be in the headlines for goalscoring or something else entirely, however, remains to be seen.

Group and Schedule

The Goldhorns have been drawn into Group 5 for World Cup 86 Qualifying. Out of 7 Qualifying campaigns, the Goldhorns have been in a Group 5 4 times. The top seed of the group are Turori, ranked 6th in the world. It’s a tricky group, with strong footballing nations like Astograth, Valladares and Omerica also present. The only team the Goldhorns have faced before are Garifunya, whom were in the same Qualifying group as the Goldhorns in World Cup 80, the very first campaign - also in Group 5.

For home games, the Goldhorns will once again be touring around the country in addition to playing games at the Nationalstadion. The new Franz-Gorz-Stadion will also see its first national team game. The Ostrovi-Arena in Vrnovo will host the national team for the first time. At a 26,000 capacity, it will be the smallest home venue the Goldhorns have ever used, however, the Vrnovo atmosphere is quite well-known in the Republikaliga and there’s an excitement about its chance to host a game. The Goldhorns’ 6th game of the Qualifiers, at home against The holy junta, will be the 200th international match for the team. There will be special pre and post-match ceremonies involving every player who has ever donned the Goldhorns kit, and weather-dependent fireworks as well.
