Welcome to the Aurorum Project!

About Us

The Aurorum Project is a modern-tech world-building and role-playing region founded by the former members of Gaia. As a young and dynamic region, we are actively looking for new members to join our ranks and contribute to our shared canon. Our goal is to become the gold-standard in quality world-building on NationStates and maintain an active and vibrant community of devoted members. If this appeals to you, please join our regional Discord server and take a look at our IIWiki portal, both of which are linked above.

Application Process

Aurorum utilizes a two-step application process for aspiring members. If you are interested in joining, please start by filling out our preliminary application found bellow. This brief questionnaire focuses on getting to know you, the world-builder, as well as establishing the basic concept for your nation. At this stage, make sure to join our Discord server so that you can get to know the other members of the region and discuss your application. Once your preliminary application is approved, you will be given access to our secondary application by the region's administrative team. This stage in the application process focuses on fleshing out your nation's concept and establishing your place in regional lore. For your reference, the full list of questions found on the secondary application can be viewed here. Once your secondary application is approved, you will be free to engage in our community as a full-fledged Auroran!

Before you apply, please take some time to review the information section in our Discord server. This section contains various maps and documents that will help advise your nation's concept, including information on topography, natural resources, cultural migrations, and population limits. Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): Cuthland-Waldrich
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): The Kingdom of Cuthland-Waldrich
Requested population: 44,793,500

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: Cuthland-Waldrich is a multinational state made up of the two constituent countries of Cuthland (Anglish) and Waldrich (West Frisian). Cuthland historically ruled over much of the Telmerian Peninsula at the height of the Cuthish Empire, but collapsed after its defeat at the hands of a Mascyllary-led coalition in the Great Berean Imperialist War. The nation subsequently descended into civil war between republican, monarchist, and communist forces, ending with its reorganization as a dual monarchy in which Cuthland and Waldrich share coequal status. Cuthland-Waldrich reasserted itself as a great power during the early 1940s as a result of the Melasian Crisis, which led to the establishment of an alliance with Erytheria and Melasia as a counter-balance to the liberal democratic powers of Mascylla, Lavaria, and Albeinland. Cuthland-Waldrich is today seen as a great power in the international system, maintaining an uneasy peace with neighboring rival Mascylla. The Kingdom has received widespread criticism for the undue influence of the monarchy on domestic politics, and has been labelled a de facto absolute monarchy by members of the international community.

Requested map claim (Imgur): https://i.imgur.com/mMRKd3w.png

How would you reduce the strength of your nation, if asked to do so? Reduce the population and get rid of a lot of my historical empire - enough to go from "great power" to "regional power"
How will you cooperate with others in Aurorum? Contributing to shared IIWiki articles and creating strong historical ties with my geographic neighbors
How will you contribute to the shared canon of Aurorum? I really enjoy world-building history and international politics, so I can help work on major conflicts and other international events
How do you think inactivity should be dealt with in Aurorum? Removal from the map after prolonged periods of inactivity (>30 days)
How do you think plagiarism should be dealt with in Aurorum? Minimum of a temporary ban with the potential to re-apply, permaban for repeat offenders and egregious cases
How did you hear about Aurorum? Former member of Gaia
What aspect of Aurorum's canon interests you the most? I think Auorum's colonial system creates a lot of potential for creative world-building in non-Berean cultural regions. By limiting colonies to coastal areas and trading outposts, players in regions such as Pamira, Caphtora, and Alvinia have a lot of potential to explore the evolution of native cultures largely free of Westernization.
What changes would you make to Aurorum's rules, if given the opportunity? Looks pretty good, I'd just explain the categorization system a bit more clearly on the main document

Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): Tameria
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Republic of Tameria
Requested population: 2,681,480

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: Tameria was inhabited by the Tameres/Temeres, a Telmerian tribe known for their skill as builders and constructors. Tameria historically was a battleground between Cuthish and Mascyllary influence over their borderlands. Becoming part of the First Cuthish Empire from its inception, before being conquered by Aldia in the Mogd War in 1621, becoming a member of the Elbgau Confederacy in the process. Tameria was a hotbed for unrest and revolution during the Revolutions of 1769, which were eventually crushed by Aldia. Tameria was part of Mascylla when it unified in 1793. The Treaty of Alderport in 1841 saw Tameria re-annexed by the resurgent Second Cuthish Empire. Tamerian romanticism and nationalism developed in the mid-19th century and was coupled with a revival of the idea of Tamerian self-determination and statehood that manifested in mild revolutionary actions. The defeat of Cuthland-Waldrich in the Great War in 1916 saw Tameria achieve its independence in the Treaty of Lehpold. With the subsequent Cuthish Civil War and Mascyllary Revolution, Tameria's economy benefitted from its relative stability, selling weapons extensive in Cuthland during its civil war. Over the 20th century, Tameria developed into one of the world's most extensive free market economies, developing an extremely high standard of living, expansive welfare state, a developed economy and fairly low income inequality, as well as integration into the Mascyllary and Cuthish economies in the late-20th century. It is also notable for its lack of military.

Tameria is a unitary parliamentary republic, headed by a figurehead president and an elected Minister of State, who serves as the country's head-of-government. Tameria's unicameral parliament, the Landrat, consists of 171 members and is elected every six years.

Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Republic of Erjarvia (Erkylänjäri Vabariik)
Requested population: 1,837,549

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: Erjarvia has historically been occupied by other powers throughout it's history, primarily Cuthland and Dulebia, the latter ruling the country from the end of the Karsk sea war until it's defeat in the Great War when the territory declared independence. Shortly after it's independence the country experienced a wave of unrest by the Dulebian and Cuthish minorities and joined by Erjarvian Liberals asking for equal rights. In the compromise of 1920 Erjarvia would recognise Erjarvian, Dulebian and Cuthish as national languages and Waldish as a recognised language, Erjarvian however would continue to be the main language used in day to day affairs and most people in the country are fluent in Erjarvian and one of the other languages. From the 1920s onwards the country stayed neutral in most major international conflicts although this was mainly through the Assembly of Nations.

Today Erjarvia is a High Income country with a high GDPPC and High HDI thanks to the country's welfare state, the country is also home to various multinational businesses.

Short Name: Kodesh
Full Name: Federation of Central Pamiran Republics (FCPR) | Markaziy Pomiriya Respublikalari Federatsiyasi (MPRF)
Requested population: 229,034,595

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: The roots of modern Kodesh lie in the Chaghanid Empire, a superpower of the Middle Ages formed by the second prophet of the Aqidan religion, Burukhan. This would split into many Vareshan, which would further degrade into numerous polities during the Early Modern period. One of these polities, Kodesh, would in the mid 19th century become the premier state in Central Pamira, before succumbing to a communist revolution in the early 20th century. The new Federation would absorb various surrounding polities during its initial years, during the Revolutionary Wars. From the 30s to the 80s it was the leading power of !Comintern. Its ruling party survived the communist collapse of the 80s and 90s, easing its control over the economy, but maintaining an iron grip over the country. To this day Kodesh remains officially communist, and is a highly centralised authoritarian state.

Requested map claim (Imgur): Kodesh

How would you reduce the strength of your nation, if asked to do so?: I suppose the three main things to scale back on are population, GDP, and the armed forces.
How will you cooperate with others in Aurorum?: By promoting collaboration and compromise
How will you contribute to the shared canon of Aurorum?: By keeping Kodesh's history flexible, and working on two canonical great polities, and a religion.
How do you think inactivity should be dealt with in Aurorum?: The current rule seems adequate. Perhaps I would add a sub-rule that should the person explain their inactivity adequately, they should be able to slot back into their previous plot within a two week/month timeslot without needing to app?
How do you think plagiarism should be dealt with in Aurorum?: Two strike rule if it is minor (i.e. a paragraph or section contains plagiarism), if it is major then straight to second strike. First strike being a warning, second strike being deletion of the nation and re-application required. Final strike being if plagiarism occurs again then a ban.
How did you hear about Aurorum?: I believe Ferswn invited me a while back.
What aspect of Aurorum's canon interests you the most?: The requirements for this Central Pamirian nation were quite interesting, and definitely fit with what I have planned.
What changes would you make to Aurorum's rules, if given the opportunity?: They seem pretty solid to me.

Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): Sileria
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Republic of Sileria
Requested population: 4,463,300

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: Sileria is a Welsh nation that was historically a part of Albeinland. During the early 20th century, the country gained its independence during the Silerian War for Independence, which coincided with the Silerian Civil War. The Civil War was run by a broad coalition of left-leaning republicans, triumphing over the conservative monarchists. The Silerian Constitution officially classifies Sileria as a nation on the path to socialism and includes other socialist rhetoric and language. However, the country is not actually socialist. It has historically been dominated by left-leaning parties, but is fundamentally a liberal democracy with a strong welfare state. It has been a strong proponent of anti-colonialism, republicanism, and denuclearization.

Requested map claim (Imgur): Claim (ran this by ferswn who approved)

How would you reduce the strength of your nation, if asked to do so? Sileria is a small North European democracy with few strengths.
How will you cooperate with others in Aurorum? Collaborate through Discord to produce lore.
How will you contribute to the shared canon of Aurorum? Create a historical hotspot for tensions between the Berean powers
How do you think inactivity should be dealt with in Aurorum? Removed from the map after one warning.
How do you think plagiarism should be dealt with in Aurorum? Instant ban.

Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): Valimia
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Federation of Valimia
Requested population: 180 million

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: Valimia is a diverse and sparsely-populated nation located in north Pamira. It traces its roots to the Kingdom of Valimians that was created following the decline of the Chaghanid Empire. During this period of independence, Valimia would import and adopt Berean ideas and culture even inviting Hesurian nobles to Valimia with promises of large swathes of land. The kingdom would eventually name itself an empire and its ruler adopt the title of "Keisari" and expand east. Despite being on the winning side of the Great War, the Valimian empire would face a revolution and become the Federation of Valimia. Under a decisively leftist government, the newly formed federation experienced reforms aimed at democratisation and industrialization. Valimia today is a flawed liberal democracy and a major exporter of oil and gas making it a significant nation on the global stage.

Requested population: 16,483,957
Major cultures/languages: Official Language: Fjallish (Norwegian Bokmål)

Fjallmark shares land borders with Cuthland-Waldrich to the East and X to the south. The country's capital is Henrikstad although the largest city in the country is Lillesand. The country was founded in the late 1500s after the unifications of the Kingdoms of Skjalmark and Oleifsjord into the Kingdom of Fjallmark, Skjalmark and Oleifsjord, this was shortened in the 1600s to the Kingdom of Fjallmark. The country intervened militarily in support of Mascylla and the Coalition during the Cuthish revolutionary war and also later supported Mascylla and the !Entente in the Great war, later becoming a founding member of the Assembly of Nations. During the Melasia crisis Fjallmark condemned both the Cuthish invasion of Mascylla and Mascylla's attempts to keep Melasia.

Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): Nanzhou
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Federation of Nanzhou
Requested population: 318,473,848
Major cultures/languages: Official: Chinese (Nanzhouese)
Regional: Fakongese (Ami Language)

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: Nanzhou is a large, ethnically diverse country in Pamira, bordering Kodesh and N/A. The country is the largest in Aurorum by population and one of the largest economically. Nanzhou previously was ruled by several Emperors and Dynasties until 1877 when after decades of corruption and mismanagement a group of Republican revolutionaries seized the city of Neihai beginning the Nanzhouese civilwar in which the Republicans would win after 13 years of heavy fighting and the destruction of much of the country and the deaths of over one million people. The Republican Government in Neihai was largely inefficient and in 1908 a Military Junta took control and removed at the time President Tao Hu from office and Hu was later executed. The Junta kept Nanzhou out of the Great War although strongly objected to Lavaria's annexation of the Dulebian Port city of Pavlovsk-Vostochny. The Junta collapsed in 1920 following a General Strike and mass protests. The next President Zhu Liuxian, would follow an isolationist path and seek to grow Nanzhou's struggling economy. Liuxian oversaw Nanzhou join the Assembly of Nations and the start of Nanzhou's gradual economic growth. Liuxian resigned in 1945 and in the subsequent election his Vice President Tan Tu was elected in a landslide. Tu continued Liuxian's policies and appointed Tao Huan as his Foreign Secretary making her the first Woman to serve in Nanzhou's government. Tu eneded his tenure as President in 1960. Tu's successor Zi Jin was instrumental in the 1962 invasion of Dongdao (Pavlovsk-Vostochny) and the subsequent returning of the other Lavarian port cities in the next few years. Jin died in 1965 in a car crash in Neihai. Dong Jiahao who was elected in 1965 after Jin ended Nanzhou's economic isolation and saw limited economic growth before he lost re-election in 1970. Bai Wuying who began his term as president in 1985 saw massive economic growth due to his free-market policies and the following years known as the Nanzhouese miracle foreign companies invested billions into the country. Since the 80s the Nanzhouese economy has grown exponentially to one of the largest in the world although growth has slowed somewhat in recent years as more of the country moves towards a service economy. In 2006 a terrorist bombing in Dongdao killed 102 and was claimed by the Fakongese National Liberation army. The subsequent crackdown in Fakong was criticised internationally and sparked a mini-refugee crisis and the subsequent impeachment of President Yao Zedong

This is a brand new account as I cam across this thread and knew it was perfect for a concept nation I had in mind.

Short Name: Uris (Pronounced; oo-riss)
Full Name: The Kingdom of Uris
Requested population: 82 million
Major cultures/languages: Urissian / Uranian (I haven't fully determined what the correct demonym would be. The culture will be heavily inspired by Persian or Iranian culture as well as some others)

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept:
The Kingdom of Uris is a large and diverse nation situated very strategically along the major shipping corridor which joins the Endotherric and Appiric Seas, while also exercising considerable influence over the Sfaridian Gulf. The Kingdom faces difficulties with a diverse population of !Persian, !Turkish, and !Middle Eastern ethnicities, but it overcomes this with an accommodating governmental structure. The monarchy is a cyclical position, and passes between four major royal households. The Kingdom experienced its Golden Age between the mid 1500s and late 1600s before a series of disasters and political destabilization weakened the state. Today, it is a regional power which is aiming to bolster its influence in the Caftoran and Pamiran continents. (Id be happy to have large or partial control over the oil and gas fields Appiric Sea as I see another major oil exporting nation is required. This could also be a rich source of lore as the resource is quite far from my claimed land and thus could be a source of international tension.)

Requested map claim (Imgur, please include the location of your nation's capital):

How would you reduce the strength of your nation, if asked to do so? By reducing population and/or military or economic power. Maybe reduce political stability but preferably not.
How will you cooperate with others in Aurorum? Worldbuilding and Roleplays
How will you contribute to the shared canon of Aurorum? Have a passion for RL history and I'd like to transfer that into developing lore for the IC region and world.
How do you think inactivity should be dealt with in Aurorum? Announced inactivity should be treated with leniency, unannounced inactivity should result in removal.
How do you think plagiarism should be dealt with in Aurorum? Two strike system, warning followed by a ban.
How did you hear about Aurorum? Stumbled across it in FB&NI
What aspect of Aurorum's canon interests you the most? The existing history and close adhesion to realism
What changes would you make to Aurorum's rules, if given the opportunity? Nothing really

Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Kingdom of Rovina (Królestwo Rowyńa)
Requested population: 18,042,854
Major cultures/languages: Polish (Rovinian), Silesian, Ingrian, Frisian

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept:
Rovina is a majority Polish Nation between Cuthland-Waldrich and Dulebia having historically been a part of Valimia and Cuthland. The first unified entity of "Rovina" is the medieval Kingdom of Rovina which existed between 1146 to 1487 where it's throne was inherited by Cuthland, remaining until it was conquered by Valimia in 1740~, ending up partitioned between them and Dulebia until the Great War. Dulebia and Cuthland's defeat allowed for Valimia to claim all of Rovina, however with Valimia falling to revolution shortly after the war Rovina used the opportunity to gain it's independence. A narrow referendum on the monarchy lead to a communist revolt which sparked an all out civil war, where the nationalist/monarchist faction came out on top with backing from Cuthland. Following independence it aligned itself with Cuthland and it's allies on the international stage.

Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): Cunucca
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Republic of Cunucca
Requested population: 324,817,771
Major cultures/languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Sinhala, Urdu, Hindi

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: Historically, Cunucca was dominated by small mercantile states that lay along major rivers. Many Cunuccan leaders converted to Iqlad from native beliefs in the 9th century and importance began to be centred around the Hamir and its tributaries, which run through the country. First contact was made with Bereans during the Cambran era, but trade began around the 14th century with Lavarian merchants. The colonial powers of Berea established tributary and trade cities in Cunucca during the imperialist era, but the state itself remained relatively untouched by colonialism outside of the coast. Madhvan Balaji unified the nation military in 1889, crowning himself Sultan of Cunucca in the process. The sultanate was overthrown violently in 1950, leading to the establishment of the modern Cunuccan republic. The discovery of oil in the 1970s and 80s has massively boosted the Cunuccan economy and the country is one of the world's largest net exporters of oil.

OOC: My nation is in West Bromwich Holme Euraframerica but this is a separate nation for this project.

Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): West Bromwich Holme
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): The Republic of West Bromwich Holme
Requested population: Around 600k
Major cultures/languages:

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: A Scandinavian-like country with a large amount of American, Canadian, Australian, Dutch and Indian expatriates.

Heavily industrialized, producing cars, trucks, timber and wood products; but also a leader in webhosting and hosting web sites, with over 4,000 web hosting businesses registered.

Also noted for its tourist numbers.

Less noted for military history than its history of building and automotive history which are its main historical draws; a popular country for drivers.

Self-driving cars/autonomous vehicles are prohibited by law and research towards them is illegal; also, car-sharing is not popular, with 0.02% of the market.

Languages spoken are English, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Dutch and Hindi, Urdu; legally, only the first four are required.

Multicultural, but a fairly Americanized/Canadianized European country in many ways.

Requested map claim (Imgur, please include the location of your nation's capital):
I would claim the border with Cuthland and the land in between Dulebia and Valimia, and as exclaves, bordering Lavaria and part of the land bordering Kodesh. Part of the nation borders the Appiric Sea.

How would you reduce the strength of your nation, if asked to do so? Military prowess is not the main focus; good economic progress is
How will you cooperate with others in Aurorum? Diplomacy, export and imports of goods
How will you contribute to the shared canon of Aurorum? Since this area isn't fleshed out that much, probably automotive history (an area I have RL experience in)
How do you think inactivity should be dealt with in Aurorum? As I go inactive every so often, hypocritical of me to concern myself with this too much, but over TG for privacy reasons.
How do you think plagiarism should be dealt with in Aurorum? Ideas are not copyrightable, clone products exist and RL brands probably exist in-universe too.
How did you hear about Aurorum?
What aspect of Aurorum's canon interests you the most? Having a separate canon and continuity from my own nation.
What changes would you make to Aurorum's rules, if given the opportunity? Maybe something about RL brands and alt-history usage of them, but other than that, not too many.

Other NS nations: I create new ones as the need arises.

Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): Lyonia | Lyonie
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Republic of Lyonia | République de Lyonie
Requested population: 39,274,473
Major cultures/languages:

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: Lyonia is a Unitary Parliamentary Republic located on the () peninsula and borders Lavaria and X. The country also shares maritime borders with Erjarvia and Dulebia.

Pre-20th century history TBD (ikr ew)

In the 1901 Parliamentary elections the PLN were returned to power. The newly elected Prime Minister, Alphonse Mignard, was a deeply nationalistic politician and advocated for the expansion of Lyonia's borders to include more ethnic Lyonians in the Telmeric Peninsula. Mignard advocated for increased military spending and expanded Lyonia's navy. In 1905 a Communist revolutionary shot Mignard from the viewing gallery of Parliament killing him and injuring another Member sitting directly behind him. After Mignard's assassination the Communist party and other socialist parties were banned and prominent members were arrested. King Charles IV died in 1907 from lung cancer and was replaced by his son Alphonse III. Upon the start of the Great War, Mignard's successor Olivier Mallet pressured Alphonse to declare war on Albeinland and Lavaria due to the country's close ties with Cuthland. Alphonse accepted and Lyonia declared war on Lavaria the following week. Upon the country's defeat in the war the monarchy was deposed and a Presidential republic was established. In the first presidential elections held in 1920 Monarchist sympathisers won the election and Alphonse who had been under House Arrest outside Villejuif was freed. Worsening economic conditions in the 20s caused a surge in support to the Parti communiste lyonnais (PCL) who were banned in 1927. The banning of the PCL sparked mass protests and trade unions aligned with the PCL called for a general strike. The general strike then turned into a revolution and the President was deposed and a communist regime was established in the aftermath of the April Revolution. The communist government established a highly centralised government in Villejuif and modelled their state of Dulebia. During the Melasian crisis the government openly supported Melasia and Cuthland although did not get involved militarily out of fears the country was not prepared for war. In 1954 the country entered a major recession and a general strike was called after worsening conditions for workers. The strike then turned into a nationwide protest for democracy and civil liberties. The Government collapsed 50 days into the protests and the People's Republic of Lyonia was abolished and replaced by a Parliamentary system. Since then Lyonia's economy has improved significantly although is still behind it's neighbours in terms of Economic growth.

Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): Abramea (Abramean: אברם, tr. Avram)
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Union of Abramea (Abramean: האיחוד של אברם, tr. Ikhúd shel Avram)
Requested population: 46,275,816
Major cultures/languages: Abramean is the sole official national language, and is by far the most widely spoken. The Abramean people are additionally the largest ethnic group. There are some smaller ethnic groups, most notably Ashirans and the Calcidians, and the Ashiri and Calcidian language is recognised regionally in a number of subdivisions. Lavarian remains something of a prestige language, and used to have high usage in education and business, but since independence its useage has been officially discouraged and shunned by the governing establishment. Kodeshi is widely learned as a second language.

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: Abramea can be summed up as "kibbutz communism". It is a proud nation, but its unfortunate position at the crossroads of Pamira, Berea and Caphtora, it has spent quite some time under the boots of others. It has experienced three periods of independence but has, at one point or another, been part of the empire of the Cambrans (74-326 CE), the Chaghanid (1300-1881) and the Lavarians (1881-1928). The country attained its current stint of independence following the Great War, in spite of attempts by Lavaria to integrate the colony as an integral part of the nation. The Abramean Revolutionary War (1928-1933) saw a socialist-led coalition of Abramean nationalists force Lavaria's hand, establishing Abramea in it's current form as a socialist republic organised along semi-autonomous kibbutzim. Abramea is considered a regional power, and a major partner to the MPRF.

Requested map claim (Imgur, please include the location of your nation's capital): Here. Very open to changing them.

How would you reduce the strength of your nation, if asked to do so? Reduce population, reduce HDI, reduce GDP, if it does become an oil-exporting nation, then offset benefits from oil with drawbacks (e.i. Dutch disease).
How will you cooperate with others in Aurorum? Work with other both to integrate my creations into the wider canon, and to integrate the wider canon into the things that I create.
How will you contribute to the shared canon of Aurorum? Adding another member of the Communist bloc, potentially adding another oil-exporting nation (I'm willing to do this to fulfill the need).

How do you think plagiarism should be dealt with in Aurorum? Three strikes and you're out.
How did you hear about Aurorum? IIWiki and Krugmar

It shares maritime borders with Sarrac in the south and Sileria in the north-east. Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): Lilledel
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Free State of Lilledel
Requested population: 2,079,784
Major cultures/languages: Lilledic (Nordic-influenced Romance conlang) with a Fallish (English) minority.

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: The Free State of Lilledel is one of two states of Falland with high levels of devolution over its own affairs due to cultural differences, alongside Absaland. Many Lilledics were initially !Celts and during the rule of Falland by the Cambran Empire due to heavy settlement in the region many started speaking a form of !Vulgar Latin. During the !West Germanic settlement in the islands there was little settlement in modern Lilledel, but there was heavy settlement and raiding from !North Germanic peoples which left a heavy influence on the province and a !North Germanic ruling class would be established which would have a heavy influence and create the first Lilledic state. The exact details of history will need to be worked out but I imagine there's periods of political independence and personal union between Falland proper, Absaland and Lilledel before a proper political union emerges and devolution eventually happens.

The modern country is a poorer and more rural region than Absaland proper, yet has notable urban areas in the cities of Sønderburg and Nebligen. Politically, the state is largely dominated by the debate between unionists and separatists - the local branches of the three major Fallish parties have collectively formed the provincial government for much of the recent few decades under an uneasy alliance in opposition to left-wing and right-wing separatist groups.

Requested map claim (Imgur, please include the location of your nation's capital): https://i.imgur.com/lsdosP6.png <- The northern central province.

How would you reduce the strength of your nation, if asked to do so? I am open to population cuts.
How will you cooperate with others in Aurorum? I intend to collaborate a lot with the player behind Falland, and I will try and collaborate with other nations in the nearby vicinity on lore.
How will you contribute to the shared canon of Aurorum? Providing an interesting dynamic to a regional power.
How do you think inactivity should be dealt with in Aurorum? I think inactive nations should be removed from the map after a certain period of time.
How do you think plagiarism should be dealt with in Aurorum? I think plagiarism is a very serious offence and I support a two-strike policy: if you plagiarise one time you should face some kind of consequence, if you do it again you should be banned from the region.
How did you hear about Aurorum? I was somewhat involved in setting the region up.
What aspect of Aurorum's canon interests you the most? Its relative novelty as a region.
What changes would you make to Aurorum's rules, if given the opportunity? None really.

Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): Norden
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): The United Kingdom of Norden
Requested population: 24.6 million
Major cultures/languages: Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: The United Kingdom of Norden was once home to various north Germanic realms vying for power in the north. In the 9th centuries however these disparate kingdoms were united by Harald the Unifier who led his armies on great raids across Berea, marking the apex of old Norden's glory. Ultimately his empire came crashing down as his sons bickered over the throne, allowing neighbouring kingdoms to push the raiders back. Religious pressures also played a role in the empire's fall as Semitarism came to the region through foreign preachers. The crumbled kingdom soon coalesced around the lands of Dalland and Vitmärige vying to inherit Harald's legacy. In 1527 however the King of Dalland died without a male heir leading the King of Vitmärige to inherit the throne leading to a personal union of the two states. The new realm soon fell behind its neighbours however, prey for the powerful Cuthish Empire and torn apart by civil war and instability. At least until the rule of King Kristian IV who instituted a process of modernisation, rebuilding the army and navy and formally unifying the administrations of the two realms into the United Kingdom of Norden. Kristian's rule allowed Norden to participate in the partitions of Cuthland and establish Norden as a significant power. His reforms also paved the way for the development of overseas trading posts with the aid of a newly constructed capital. Norden flourished in the industrial era until the Great War where its army was humiliated on the battlefield, leading to the occupation and devastation of much of the populous and industrial south. Once peace returned economic collapse followed leading to instability and the rise of extremist politics. Over time these would subside and the National Party would introduce a new conservative consensus albeit with widespread government intervention in the economy. The discovery of oil in the White Sea also greatly aided the country's economic bounceback. The National Party would also follow a policy of neutrality in an attempt to prevent another such catastrophe, though a powerful conscript army would be retained. Today Norden remains a neutral nation, walking the tightrope of the Cuthish–Mascyllary rivalry.

Requested map claim (Imgur, please include the location of your nation's capital): https://i.imgur.com/2rBlcal.png

How would you reduce the strength of your nation, if asked to do so? Lower economic power/population, increase reliance on oil exports for economic prosperity.
How will you cooperate with others in Aurorum? I hope to develop some integrated histories with my neighbours, particularly Mascylla and C-W. Additionally, Norden's unique geopolitical position should allow it to play a major role in the Cuthish–Mascyllary rivalry.
How will you contribute to the shared canon of Aurorum? Development of Telmerian history, as well as fleshing out religion, particularly Nordic Semitarism.
How do you think inactivity should be dealt with in Aurorum? Grace period (with a warning) of 30 days before removal. Exceptions should be made depending on circumstances.
How do you think plagiarism should be dealt with in Aurorum? Depending on the severity, 3 strike system. If deemed to be comprehensive and widespread, outright ban.
How did you hear about Aurorum? IIwiki
What aspect of Aurorum's canon interests you the most? Its existing depth, but also the relatively young age of the region meaning there is a lot of fertile ground for worldbuilding and creative freedom.
What changes would you make to Aurorum's rules, if given the opportunity? Nothing of note

Short name (e.g. "Germany"): Chasun (Chasunese: 차순, Jaseŏun)
Full name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Republic of Chasun (Chasunese: 차순공화국, Jaseŏun Gonghwagug)
Requested population: 25,573,990 (2020)
Major cultures/languages: Chasunese makes up the bulk of the population of Chasun, with considerable regional minorities of X ([url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_people]) to the north and east.

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: Chasun is a country and unitary semi-presidential constitutional republic in Eastern Pamira, comprised of the Chasunese Peninsula and the central and western region of Seulhae. With approximately 25.6 million inhabitants and a gross domestic product of roughly 730.5 billion USD, Chasun is one of the largest states in Pamira by population and is a developed country; its capital and largest city is Geoju on the Nai River, where a third of the country's population lives.

Situated strategically on the confluence of the rivers Nai and Asam into the Chasun Sea and the coastal plain of the Habaek Mountains to the west, Chasun has historically been contested by neighbouring empires. The princerly states of Seulhae eventually ceded their autonomy to the Byaheo dynasty originating from the Chasunese Peninsula in the late 11th century. Rule over modern-day Chasun alternated between the Byaheo, Haseong and ultimately the Charasŏn dynasty from the 14th to the 19th centuries, coinciding with or resulting from brief periods of foreign conquest and declining regional power. The Charasŏn dynasty ultimately proved to be the most successful Chasunese empire, establishing contact with Berean traders and successfully resisting colonization in the early 19th century. The economic decline of the dynasty however led to the forced concession of much of the empire's territorial bulk to Valimia and neighbouring states to the north and south, as well as the opening of multiple port cities to Berean trade. The collapse of Charasŏn culminated in the Yeosin Rebellion of 1907, a short-lived scramble of Berean powers for influence and the establishment of the Kingdom of Chasun in 1910. It was subsequently overthrown by the military in a coup in 1920, and transformed into a de jure democratic, but authoritarian republic. The military dictatorship persisted until 1958 with the outbreak of the Chasunese War which led to the country being split between the Republic of Chasun and the Chasunese People's State; the collapse of the latter in 1989 reunited a slowly reforming Chasun with the CPS, though with negotiated concessions by the !Japanese northern state that approved of its reunification. These territorial concessions remain a significant political dispute between both countries; Chasun slowly transitioned to a more democratic government in the early 2000s.

How would you reduce the strength of your nation, if asked to do so? Reduce its historical significance as being influenced by numerous powers in the 19th and 20th centuries, or reduce its population.
How will you cooperate with others in Aurorum? Serving as an anchor point by which other players can use existing lore to base of theirs in eastern Pamira.
How will you contribute to the shared canon of Aurorum? Developing a yet untouched area of Aurorum and bringing more nuance to the Great Game unfolding.

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: Valtriva is a democratic country with a culture which is a bit of a mix between Russian, Finnish and Belarussian culture with many unique twists. It is not exceptionally mountainous and has many lakes and lots of forests. It is a well developed country that has an open foreign policy and a strong Democratic culture. Valtriva began as a group of tribes around the Akaterin river. By the 12th century it had unified into a single kingdom. Expanding throughout the years. Valtriva experienced mass revolts in the mid 19th century which eventually led to the abdication of the monarch and the creation of the Valtrivan Republic. During the 1920’s and 30’s there were conflicts between the government and several Marxist groups which eventually faded out as the 1930’s progressed. Today Valtriva is a developed nation with a high income economy.

Requested map claim (Imgur, please include the location of your nation's capital): it was mentioned that it could fit near Rovina and Valimia

How would you reduce the strength of your nation, if asked to do so? I’m not a the type of person that is interested in having particularly strong nations so I’d be happy to adapt to whatever is needed including reducing area or population.

How will you contribute to the shared canon of Aurorum? I will be happy to work with other members to expand and explore the regional cannon and make sure that my nation fits into it
How do you think inactivity should be dealt with in Aurorum? If there are problems with activity then the best thing to do is try to recruit new members and revive nations that have gone inactive as a collective regional effort
How do you think plagiarism should be dealt with in Aurorum? I think that the perpetrators should be asked to remove the plagiarised content and if the problem persists then further action can be taken such as forced removal
How did you hear about Aurorum? I have a friend who is a member
What aspect of Aurorum's canon interests you the most? The fact that it is a high quality modern tech region with an incredible amount of detail and work put into its articles.
What changes would you make to Aurorum's rules, if given the opportunity? I have no current quibbles with any of the rules

Short Name: Sumigen
Full Name: Holy Kingdom of Sumigen
Requested population: 16 - 20 million
Major cultures/languages: The nation's primary culture are the Sumigen and most of the nation's recognised minorities fall into the same ethnolinguistic group. Notable exceptions include the ethnic Kodeshi and Valimians that inhabit the western and northern border regions respectively, though their numbers are considered miniscule at best. The official language of the state is Sumigenese, written and spoken by the overwhelming majority of the population as their birth tongue.

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept: The Holy Kingdom of Sumigen is a theocratic monarchy in eastern Pamira, straddling and expanding southwards from the eastern borders of Kodesh and Valimia. Though landlocked and surrounded on virtually all sides by nations occupying a much higher perch on the pecking order, Sumigen's geography and long history as a central point of convergence for trade coming to and from various other civilisations have ensured its continued existence into the modern era, to say nothing of its own mixed legacy with regards to empire-founding.

Ruled in various capacities by the Tserenid dynasty since the ascension of its namesake Tseren I in the mid-13th century, Sumigen adheres to a markedly orthodox interpretation of its ancient shamanistic faith in which the ruler (in this case the monarch) is a divinely-appointed figure who acts on behalf of the god or gods (depending on the prevailing theology of the time) in this capacity. This system was not originally tied to such things as blood or marriage ties, with the present linearity of heir after heir from the same line a far more recent concept that came about following the turn of the 2nd millennium. Though traditionally a semi-nomadic people spread across much of east and central Pamira, the past several hundred years have seen a gradual nationwide orientation towards a more permanent system of urban localities (largely due to the perceived need for greater regional stability and entrenchment in the face of encroachments by large foreign empires) and now the Sumigenese inhabit a society which now more closely resembles those of its more industrious neighbours to the south. Even so, religion and tradition remain central to the lives of every last person in Sumigen and they will defend their creed as zealously as they would their own flesh and blood.

How would you reduce the strength of your nation, if asked to do so? Take a few million off the population count and/or tweak the economy and military, assuming of course that a scale-back is necessary.
How will you cooperate with others in Aurorum? Through discussion on Discord, particularly in regards to lore and diplomatic relations.
How will you contribute to the shared canon of Aurorum? By working with my neighbours to ensure no pre-established history and context is complicated by my ideas for the nation. I also hope to occupy a significant geopolitical niche on Pamiram, though that remains to be decided.
How do you think inactivity should be dealt with in Aurorum? A warning (or two depending on who it is and why) followed by removal from the map.
How do you think plagiarism should be dealt with in Aurorum? A stern talking to followed by a ban if the offender is uncooperative.
How did you hear about Aurorum? This thread.
What aspect of Aurorum's canon interests you the most? It's hard to really pin my enthusiasm for the region on one specific factor, though all the work that has clearly gone into establishing various baselines for past history (colonial empires, migrations, economic prospects, culture groups, etc) is hard to overlook. I suppose the short answer is "pretty much everything."
What changes would you make to Aurorum's rules, if given the opportunity? For the most part, I think the rules are fine. Region regulations and the reasons for them are all a bit over my head anyway.

Other NS nations: Amaseia

Short Name (e.g. "Germany"): Yudong
Full Name (e.g. "The Federal Republic of Germany”): Republic of Yudong
Requested population: 260,284,452
Major cultures/languages: The Yun (Han) compose the majority of the population and are spread across Yudong in almost the entirety of the territory. However, the country counts with other four main ethnic groups: Hai (Manchu), Feng (Mongols), Tsai (Tibetans) and Kun (term that englobes ethnic groups of Islamic faith in the border with the FCPR). Smaller communities with "less recognition" exist across the country and there are Kenlongese, Chasunese and !Japanese along the borders of their respective countries.

Please briefly (in one paragraph or less) describe your nation's concept:

  • Yudong is one of the largest countries of Aurorum by population and territorial expansion. Its origins as a nation is one of the oldest in the world; it can be traced to the numerous dynasties that ruled its territory over the centuries until somewhere near the 200 b.c., the expansion of the Mong Dynasty concluded with the declaration of the first Empire of Yudong and the introduction of evolved political and societal structures. During this time, Yudong was the birthplace of advanced technology, art and literature, which made its way to Berea thanks to merchants and explorers. Although the country was an important spot for international commerce in Pamira, Yudongese society and power remained largely reticent to Bereans, allowing gradual openings but heavily restricted by laws. It was during the mid-19th century that a Berean fleet forced the country to open trade and sign concessions that favoured Bereans. Since this time until the 20th century, the country will face an important influence from Mascylla, Dulebia, Lavaria and Sarrac.

During the Great War, the country fought alongside the Armala Coalition and remained a key geopolitical partner of Mascylla and Falland in Pamira; during the Melasian Crisis, the country consolidated diplomatically and military in the region, fighting in Melasia and later during Chasunese and Kenlongese affairs against Cuttish influence.
