The Chariots are not one of the largest sides in Sabrefell by any means, but they can point to a devoted and vibrant fanbase operating out of the eastern suburbs and to a history of punching well above their weight, at one stage finishing as high as second and winning a Globe Cup, then being the first Nepharim side to claim a Super Cup. They have thrived with the increasing levels of immigration into the country over the past couple of decades, and their catchment is particularly lush with Licentian diaspora, hence the more recent decision to switch from white to a blue and gold away kit. In more recent years, the giants of Nephara have re-established themselves, and the Chariots have switched gears to focusing on youth and infrastructure, though they dream of a return to the glory days. Their only real rivals are Sabrefell Athletic, who they revile after incidents of fan clashes - a bond they share with Raven River, which has always been a somewhat friendly rivalry.
OVERVIEW
A pretty unrelentingly awful season saw the end of the Isla Safarova era, a net positive with a sour aftertaste. Pretty much all season they were languishing in lower midtable, not even having the decency to get embroiled in any relegation concerns. Key performers regressed, the attack melted. Now former Schottia U21 manager Grey Holden is here and entrusted to turn the ship around; hell, to turn the whole ship on its head. Four signings made, all from 1Div. They snapped up Fasolt Senninger from Creed United, selling the talented but patchy Marietta Briggs to... Creed United. At a 4m loss, yes, but Senninger is three years younger and certainly the better player, Briggs perhaps finding her glass ceiling in an error-prone season. Sierra's got help up front now from sturdy Walsh and burly Corsey, both in their mid-20s, both wrestling each other for the place, while Mariza Selke offers a measured guile down the left flank, the polar opposite of departed athlete Ruskin. Strausz was a regrettable sacrifice, but her or Seamster would have needed to go to fit into Holden's favoured 4-4-2 (and with Ivana Tokich ready to burst through); the Moths needed someone to push Reach, they got one. Gutenberg wanted away, and landed a good role at Brigham; Burnside just didn't quite have it at this level.
Holden cuts an eccentric figure, a mercurial obsessive who lives and breathes the game, and there's no doubt at all that he's spent a long time plotting what to do with the rich canvas he's got. Morale around the camp is high, having grown clearly stale last season. He's taking a far more hands-on approach, with captain Katerina Tarrasch in particular having complimented how finely-drilled she and Na'Duha are. Coming from a defensive partnership that's been in place for eight years now, that's a massive compliment. The midfield is technical rather than fast; indeed, it's distinctly slow, pace will have to come back from the fullbacks. But Lazarou and Selke on the wings are tricksters, players with X-Factor who can open things up. The diminutive Rzazade is a genuine midfield general between them, though her pure anchoring ability came into question last season and that won't be helped by being a man down in midfield. Up front, Rowena Sierra's the star forward... in theory. A fluid and ruthless converted winger, she's 30 now, having to fight for her place with hungry newcomers after a poor last season. But there's optimism around the camp again. This time, 'in transition' finally does mean 'going places'.
EXPECTATIONS
A season of transition, for certain. But Grey Holden seems to have things under control, or at least approaching it. The project isn’t done, but it’s being stabilised.

Belgrave represents Sabrefell's affluent northeast, not historically a socio-economic demographic that has produced good footballers. Even so, their success in recent seasons is built more on good planning than deep pockets. They embrace their reputation for affluence, rebranding it as a belief in 'sophistication', and they've historically favoured a technical, possession-focused style of football, trusting in youth to step up for them. Their willingness to snipe talented youths from across the city to play for them has only made them less popular.
OVERVIEW
Thoughts on the season, Adalheid Metzelder? The flamboyant manager's verdict, after a last-day 3-2 win over Chatswood left them the third-best team in Sabrefell, was characteristic; "My vision, my genius, made this possible. We play better football than any other club in the world and that's how I've been seeing it, trying to make possible, since Day One." And that was before the Cup final they had to play. How do you build on that? Well, there was a gap in defensive midfield. That they've filled with a 19-year old with thirteen senior games under his belt, all in the Second Division. Okay. Breaking with convention, he's even been handed the 4; the first First XI number any teenager in the Premiership has worn since Stiin Sierrha'Asione. And that's retired one-club woman Naess' shirt number, at that! But Timekeeper cuts an impressive figure, 6", broad-shouldered, calm on the ball. Bonds and Connell both fought for supremacy between the posts last season, but Leda Tristram's better than either, Bonds' shot-stopping with Connell's sweeping and distribution, coming in off a spectacular season for the Diamonds; that squeezed out Bonds, taking her chances in the new EOTLeague. They tried to shop around Aura Keynes as well, but no dice; no matter, the clever 31-year old will just have to keep it another season. The winger was philosophical; "I'm getting old," was all she had to say.
Metzelder isn't all hot air. She got the Gargoyles this far - third in Sabrefell, it bears repeating! - to the best finish in their history, and while 'best football in the world' is a stretch they undoubtedly play a fast, attractive, short-passing game. An often repeated refrain from those who thought they'd go down was that their defence was terrible; the fact that it's unchanged speaks volumes. Three of them are rising stars, while Skapoulis, Vermillion reject, pulled out the season of his career at 31. He's a youth international, and some people forgot he was far more than a panel-beater as he wasted away at the Rage. Timekeeper is likely to keep 32-year old Lechleiter, the one true 'ehh...' signing of last year, out of the side; either side will be Steward and Katsura, the best players in the team. One, crafty, tricky, cunning; the other, a straight-backed, preening Hinodejin playmaker linked with the Dockers over the window. The uncomplicated, frictionless Strand, too, was tipped with greater things, but nineteen goals last season proved he was in the right place to harness his talents. Belgrave are in good, good shape going into this season, provided last wasn't an utter fluke. Their best asset is that their manager is a mercurial genius; their worst liability is that their manager is a mercurial genius. Anything could happen.
EXPECTATIONS
Adalheid Metzelder’s targeting a shot at the Challengers Cup places. Nobody ever told her; always under-pledge and over-deliver. But you do have to back the Gargoyles to stay up, even if they don’t quite hit the same heights as last time.

Despite the earthy nickname conjuring images of teamsters and burly shirtless men, Brinemouth is a largely affluent city, particularly the coastal east, and their football club became nouveau-riche just in time for the Premiership to join the international scene. They have, as a result, been far more successful post-UICA than pre-, and their seven titles are only matched by AFC Treason - indeed, the Premiership's ascension into the ranks of serious leagues worldwide seemed to coincide with an era of dominance for the two clubs on each end of the country, overshadowing the 'Sabrefell giants' of Athletic and the Moths who had dominated prior to the modern era. Unlike Treason, their playing identity is based around expensive marquee talent playing beautiful attacking football - locals are considered a nice bonus, but not essential. They want the ball, and they want to be flashy with it. West Brinemouth are their only real rivals for fanbase in the city, but are too weak on the pitch to make a proper rival in Brinemouth's eyes. Instead, they save their ire for the Classic, against their philosophical opposites and equals AFC Treason.
OVERVIEW
Austerity doesn't work; what really helps a disintegrating economy is stimulus. So one could say that the frankly sickening amount of money triple-bridesmaids Brinemouth poured into the nation of Farfadillis to come away with Farago rue Cazade was a public service, or foreign aid, or even philanthropy. Ah, but the Dockers won't care about any of that. So they have maybe the world's premier playmaker - and let him take the #9 shirt? Really? - opportunistically swept on probably the two best players leaving Apox this window in young striker Danielle Jackson and taciturn defender Steele, snapped up Kasmiir from Coret because apparently they weren't quite done and failed to offload Iori Saitou. Imagine being so fucking stacked you have to try and offload an international captain. Brinemouth have maybe the deepest forward corps of any club side in history. That left young Koellner the odd one out, while veterans Kesteren and Windtide were given fond farewells. They were one point off the title last time. They're leaving nothing to chance.
So take a look across a side, remarkably largely consisting of players in their mid-late 20s, almost certainly the strongest side on paper in the world. All of them know what Blackthorn expects; patient, proficient football, short, unerring passes that drive knives through opposing hearts. Ryan Bull is an ogre, but one with deft feet and top-class distribution. Neither fullback is a flying overlapper, but rather more cautious, defensive types with the poise of a holding midfielder, players who retain possession rather than just flick in low-percentage crosses, both sharp and decisive in the tackle. Steele and Brosch are an iron curtain. They like to play along the ground - indeed, both centre-halves can join in - but they've got no glass jaw. Mercedes Reeve is, curiously, the only uncapped regular starter, but is far more than a water-carrier nevertheless; Kasmiir provides satyr bulk to back a delicate touch and expansive vision. Tidesson is a relentless force of nature, rue Cazade a peerless maestro, Deventer a wicked, impish trickster; a trident to match the Heelers'. And what of Kuznetsov? He puts it best: "I goal." That's without even touching on the butcher Magnozzi, the austere Conjure, the hatchet Soederquist, or the aforementioned strikers. 46 matches is a long time, hopefully with deep UICA and Cup runs to boot; each will be made to stand and be counted. Brinemouth B could probably come 6th. The full team must have the title in their sights, and the Champions Cup beyond it.
EXPECTATIONS
Ludicrously expensive. Brinemouth B could probably come 7th. All 23 should - must - really consider themselves to be favourites, provided Blackthorn can continue to get them singing off the same sheet.

Treason's second club, in the West of the city. It's got a hard-nosed, physical reputation, fanned by many a successful, battling Premiership performance. After years of punching above their weight and sporadically managing UICA qualification, it seems as though the Woodsmen have come crashing down to earth, and settled into a more yo-yo pattern. Their main rivals are AFC Treason, which is considered to be the major Treason derby; they also have a strong and relatively recent hate for Morningstar, who are nearby, share Emery Lineker as their first Premiership manager, and share a general club ethos. After quirks of fixturing lead to a series of steel vs. silk clashes on final Premiership matchdays, in which Chatswood constantly played spoiler, there's also a fierce rivalry with Brinemouth. But Chatswood have always kind of had an 'us against the world' mentality. They're chippy, and you will always remember playing them; they take pride in that.
OVERVIEW
A disastrous start to last season, as Leigh Fletcher's steady, successful six-year tenure ends in thirteen winless games to open the season. She had to be axed, and was. Warner Dranz came in from Armstrong, an uninspired appointment on paper but one able to do the job. Busy firefighting, he dropped the callow Moore, packed bodies in midfield and tightened up, leaning on Ivana Henderson's brilliance up front to just about fire them to safety. Given a chance to rebuild, however, it seems he'd rather sharpen the forces at his disposal; experienced holding midfielder Rivan and goalkeeper Yeoman are capable depth options, not starting grade. Dranz has talked bullishly about improving his side, drilled them hard in the off-season, and kept ahold of Prentice, Conleth and Henderson, the unquestioned stars that elevate an average side.
But at the end of the day, an average side is what they remain. There's optimistic talk about building back up to the force they once were, Emery Lineker's ferocious terriers, but, well... it was a different league back then. And they were a different side. The Woodsmen don't lack for spirit, but nor can they be said to be relentless. Rather... solid. Disciplined. Williams is a solid goalkeeper, Ozolx-Alfan a solid defender. Antosch has some of the old bite in him, a homegrown brawler. The midfield of Bischoff and Prentice relies on Bischoff coming on that extra step, as Prentice is not the most diligent at tracking back. Moore and Henderson are both big targets up front, perhaps somewhat redundant; Henderson is by a distance the better, and spearheaded the line alone through most of last campaign, but U21 international Moore may yet prove the doubters wrong. Caulker's just there to sling crosses at them, but Severa Conleth can do more than that; the one truly improvisational talent, with Prentice more a standard playmaker. There's weapons to damage teams and a defence to safeguard them, with a direct, physical style of football. But they just aren't Lineker's team and can never escape that comparison. Hopefully they can, at least, escape relegation.
EXPECTATIONS
It’s looking pretty grim. The Axes will need to pull themselves together and conjure the battling spirit of the old days, not just talk about how good they were.

Based in northwest Chenoworth and with strong Hellenic roots, the Harriers are one of the two real giants of a city that has never really looked able to fit any more. A notorious yo-yo club in the early days of the modern era, the Harriers can 'boast' four relegations - three coming between cycles 55 and 60 alone. In more recent times, though, cautious and targeted spending has ensured they can not only stay afloat in the top flight, but have at times approached the UICA places. Unsurprisingly, they count the Rovers as their only serious rivals, and tend to be the more technical and cerebral of the two sides - though Rovers fans tend to prefer 'flimsy'. For all their mixed results, though, the Harriers undoubtedly have a far stronger pedigree in youth development.
OVERVIEW
It didn't take long for the good times under Aidan Brosque to run dry following his departure; the Harriers are in freefall. Snowy Brennan only barely kept them up, relying on a last-day win over Cranequin Wanderers to overtake them. Whittaker missed a penalty before being sold to the Moths, calling the Harriers a 'pissant club' on the way out. Nikita Charisteas was snapped up by the Hawks, leaving fans to wonder why neither had fulfilled their potential here. Why had Whittaker been so demotivated, so in-and-out of the team, if a properly good club wanted him? Why had it taken so long to throw Charisteas into the fire? Veteran stalwart Marconi also gets shown the door. Replacing them: Sven Ascalon is a former Brinemouth striker who did well in Ethane and ought to press Wright for regular minutes, while Blankman is far less inspired. That said, Girardi is an intriguing prospect. The Delaclav playmaker cuts a lean figure and might struggle to handle the Premiership's physicality, but if he can win himself time on the ball, he might light up the league. Still. Twelve million out the door, none million back in. For a side that already barely stayed up...
Evidently hope is being placed on the shoulders of the youth, and there's plenty of talented youth in the squad besides Girardi. But there's also a reliance on veterans, and sticking Lionel Dalton in a defensive midfield role is more high-talent bandage than permanent solution. Fyona Matthews looks a Premiership goalkeeper on a good day, but is... erratic, and that can cost them. She's ably supported, at least. Greene and Kite are the kind of fullbacks you could see on a 1Div roster, sure, but Victoria Carroll looked at home during the Harriers' golden age while Niedermayer, an inspired signing, will probably be the first to go should the Harriers drop. It's hard to believe he's just 22 given his maturity and confidence at calmly shepherding attacks to safety. Catheline Stensholt scored the goal that kept them up, and the captain barely missed a minute of last season. Just an all-around excellent captain. Clever, two-footed Sigrun Rivers probably regrets the day she was like, 'yeah, the Harriers are definitely going to do better things than Crisisbless United' - through little fault of her own, their trajectories have violently reversed upon her departure. Kou's just fast on the other wing. Up front, Sagittarius Wright forced his way into the team a few times last season but will absolutely need to refine his finishing touch, all too often wayward at the decisive moment. Brennan knows she doesn't have a fast side, but they have a technical edge over many of their opponents in the vicinity; they'll need to dominate midfield and choke their enemies out. It looks, in all honesty, a tough ask.
EXPECTATIONS
Each of the last five seasons have seen the Harriers backslide. There isn’t much further left to go. Expect them to beat Newrook to a record six relegations.

The Rovers are Chenoworth's big eastern club, and have probably the strongest Jewish association of any major side in Nephara. Like their main rivals, the Harriers, they've tended to flit between the top two tiers over the years. Their fans would contest that's the only similarity. The Rovers were the first club managed by Gethin Ramsey, who also played for them as a hard-bitten defensive midfielder, and it was with the Rovers that Ramsey pioneered the hard-hitting, quick-moving counter-attacking football that would become the early incarnation of the Cormorants. While essentially the tradition of one guy, Ramsey's legacy is such that the Rovers have associated themselves with such play ever since. Despite Chenoworth's reputation as a milquetoast middle-class city, the Rovers and Harriers truly hate one another.
OVERVIEW
One expects, for the first time in a while, the white and blue half of Chenoworth to be the happier. Chris Waller arrived; he demanded investment, he got results. One hundred and eleven points was already a ludicrous total to win the First Division with, breaking the record of 106 that the Rovers themselves set, but Waller's like a kid in a candy shop with a board willing to make it rain. Former fringe international goalkeeper? No worries. Waller knows the value of a good stopper, obviously, and the 33-year old Corridan is very much that. One of the more promising young fullbacks? Fine. Svava's ready for the step up. A veteran holding midfielder with international experience? Sure, Vincent Dupont might single-handedly snap the club's wage structure for probably two seasons of football, but what Waller wants, he gets. Dupont has pedigree on pedigree. And Brayden Custworth is perfect for this team, someone who can meander between the channels as the rehabilitated Patton's shadow while carrying a serious goal threat of his own.
All this... probably makes the Rovers the strongest promoted side in Premiership history. Waller ran a tight ship with ruthlessly high standards, perhaps conscious to avoid the drift that characterised his managerial career at home, and in doing so he managed to truly rehabilitate players who had backslid under Harper's laissez-faire rule. That said, can the defence step up? They only conceded 26 goals last season, but it's hard to avoid that Sigrun Rathskeller, a former Nephara international, has already been relegated three times and is now 35. Laslow, too, was occasionally found wanting. But Capradossi is a truly hungry defender, vicious in the tackle, and only getting better each year. Dupont anchors a classy if straightforward midfield, Forrest the clever midfielder who makes the play under pressure, Koerner a physical beast on the right with electrifying potential and the confidence to match, Rowell... well, Rowell slings in crosses, and that's all she needs to offer. Up front, Sabrina Patton has cut a high-confidence figure, Waller's great success story, the sort of player who rattles home goals every half-chance she gets. Did she and Nya Murray get in one anothers' way, perhaps? It's no issue now, in any case. She will be entrusted with the team's primary goal threat, and has Custworth to feed. It's not a flawless side, by any means; Waller's career is still in the balance, it's too old, there's a few patchy elements. But can you really see them going down again? No.
EXPECTATIONS
A strangely uneven side, but regardless they have the quality to survive.

Originally the Valkyrja Hawks, back when the Nepharim league included foreign sides from the Serenes region it used to be a part of, the Hawks eventually moved to the northeastern town of Coret to stay relevant. Historically, they've tended to be something of a yo-yo side, but in more recent times they've been a fixture of the top half, though struggling to break that UICA glass ceiling to such an extent it seemed at times there must be a curse. They have a substantial following abroad in Chromatika thanks to the signings of Alyss Montague and Gabriella Antonio, which they have tapped into with tours and targeted marketing; the latter, arguably their greatest ever player, retired at 28 to start a family. Under new management of late, Coret finally broke into the top six and now appear intent on staying there, at least for a time. Coret Rovers, the less flashy incumbents in the city, see the Hawks as upstarts, while Newrook City are their most prominent regional rivals.
OVERVIEW
Well, that was fun. But it was not a success; at least, not by the high standards Nick Feeney has worked so hard to establish for a club with a reputation as terrible underachievers despite heavy investment. A midfield of the individually brilliant Kizza Okafor and Otalia Kasmiir was wonderful when they had the ball, easily the two best players at the club, and got passed through breezily when they did not. So Brinemouth rather did them a favour by picking out the satyr, and the replacement, the diligent, crafty Charisteas, rebalances things. Crowford was a good player, but wasn't Skapetis; she's likely the best player in the EOTLeague. Naeher, once Nephara's first-choice left winger, hangs up the boots after keeping her career going through the sheer force of her left boot. No striker, though? No problem. Latona Basilisk arrives from two years in Taeshan as an established regular starter, trying to make a trademark of her petrifying gaze, certainly able to squeeze through gaps in defensive lines and ruthlessly slot home chances. And she's twenty. Not for nothing is she reigning Young Galactico.
All this leaves the Hawks a more well-balanced but slightly inferior side, though a few key players are starting to tick over the hill. Jostling for the goalkeeper spot, Lockwood's a little older than one would like but is a reliable and steady presence, Garamond at 21 somewhat too young but brimming with acrobatics. Koller is the seasoned rock of a hardened defensive unit that is not quite up to the standards of the rest of the team, though that's a bold call to make when Burns is on one of his electrifying overlapping runs down the left. He compliments the emerging talent Caracole well, a more orthodox figure than the arrogant trickster Skapetis on the right, and it will be interesting to see how Kizza Okafor chooses to pull the strings with a stronger foundation at his back. Up front, a microcosm of the Hawks' age profile, a 20-year old and 34-year old are likely to spearhead the team, the Basilisk having the towering veteran Stavanger to play off. The Hawks have technique on their side against most opponents, but Stavanger's general... hugeness offers a more direct route for Caracole's pinpoint crosses. It will probably be attractive, unpredictable, full of spice. For the Hawks and their history of being a rather drab, boring prospect, these are the golden years.
EXPECTATIONS
Back to their usual position of dark horses, champing at the bit for someone to slip.

The most controversial and, yes, hated club in Nephara. Corvistone is the new planned capital of Nephara, and AFC Corvistone was made explicitly to be a club worthy of the capital. But the capital isn't fully formed and the club, which struggles to even half-fill its fantastic stadium, faces constant pressure for buying success and in all fairness it has never shied away from that, splurging money freely to drag themselves to the top flight. Their fans relish the hate, though, and the club makes the most of its siege mentality.
OVERVIEW
Mixed feelings about the offseason for all three of the Crows' plastic, plastic fans. Last season? Nothing to be mixed about. Out of nowhere, Hadrian Belfast dragged his energetic charges to a glorious title challenge. Two-thirds of the season gone, they were top. Would they really be able to do a Starling? No, not quite, but they still finished fourth. So their infinite pockets would surely be able to fund big changes, right? Latimore and Tybalt get loaned out to develop elsewhere... but their attempts at a marquee left winger and promising young striker don't come to fruition. Ballista Meade is a good stopgap, but nothing more, and coming off a season of frustration with Stars. Cedella Verlander is an excellent and technical defender, however, one of the best up-and-comers in the country, and does manage a season late to fill that Ilyana Brosch-shaped hole in Belfast's heart. God, though, for a couple months there it looked like Corvistone were going to leapfrog Brinemouth to win without her...
"Last season is over," says Belfast philosophically. "We'll learn from it, it's a process. There's still mistakes I want the lads to iron out..." Iron out? They won 27 games! Six times in Premiership history that would've been enough to win the league. But it goes to show the meticulous approach, the dedication to excellence, that characterises Belfast in all facets. His side is relatively young, and play an oddly bloodless pressing style that wrests the ball off their opponents like a parent wrestling a rattle off their baby. Acatha Feldman had the season of her life last year. Everyone knew she was too good for the second tier; she made the bench of the Team of the Season, which says it all. And her distribution and calm fit the side perfectly. Lucy Almwood is emerging into the early star of the Crows' weirdly productive academy, a livewire leftback with an uncanny knack for runs that find the gaps, and the pace to make them. The unforgiving midfield trident has been established as Spahi Keskin, a holding midfielder of such rock-solid consistency that Creed melted without him, shielding smooth brute Yonen and wunderkind playmaker Arniston, who is usually nominally on the left side of midfield or occasionally as a second striker in the 'Ens wannabe' role but could really be anywhere at any time and equally dangerous to the opposition. She's learned a lot from Krista Morham, the club's first true legend, who will have plenty of minutes herself. Clarisse Ulreich and Kaya Catley are physical, fairly orthodox wingers, and while neither is the kind of player who can punch open a game on their own, they're diligent in the press and both able to slip through gaps. 'The' Baba Warrington is the main goal threat, and while he occasionally infuriates Belfast with his selfishness or refusal to defend from the front, he always makes up for it with a brisk, almost careless finish whipped into the corners from just about nowhere. Belfast has done all you could hope from any manager; he's turned a team of outcasts into more than their sum. Just don't bank on another trophy tilt.
EXPECTATIONS
Are they likely to replicate it? No. And they’d have liked to have more reinforcements. But, regrettably, they’re probably here to stay as the Big Six winnows to a Big Five.
