So what is this?


Greetings comrades! This, my friends, is a reboot of the old "Point of Divergence" RP. The third time, actually. It utilizes the concept of ISOT (a common alternative history term taken from Stirling's Island In the Sea of Time trilogy) to make a nation RP that should produce interesting results, and operates somewhat like a sandbox. Anyhow, what might the term ISOT mean?

Often, there are many ramifications associated with the concept of the ISOT (as stated above), something this RP will seek to explore. The world we'll be RPing will be a diverse one, one not confined by the mere boundaries of complete realism and factual truth. There will be variety, and it will (in many cases), be rather "out of earth".



It's quite simple: nations and organizations from all over the multiverse (fictional franchises, personal fiction, alternate history, etc) are teleported to a version of Earth completely bare of sentient life (note, all weather patterns and plant life still exist, as do geographic features), a "Virgin Earth". The RP that follows focusses on the post-teleport (from now on, we shall call this "The Event") situation of the planet, and what happens in a world where everything seems different from how the various nations once saw it.

I've been on this insane train before, and I do believe it can succeed if implemented properly. For those interested, hop on board and prepare for a ride of your life! Forwards to a brave new world we go!

It might've been a hot, sunny day for some, and it might've been a cold, snowy day for others. However, none of that mattered in the end, as the event spared no one. Across many worlds within the greater multiverse, The Event happened. Whether it took seconds or minutes; whether it was a flash of light, or a sudden darkness, when the Event was over, societies and organizations from all over existence found themselves on a new world, one spared from the excesses of civilization, conflict, and strife. It was an empty world, one where no soul had ever stepped a foot upon. What the future has in store is yet to be known, but it will certainly be anything but static...

Things to know about the New Earth:
- All claimed lands have nothing changed to them (resources, ecological health, etc)
- All water sources around the planet are now clean / returned to their pre-human settlement state
- Resources in unclaimed regions have returned to pre-human settlement levels (they've been replenished)




Rules, Regulations, and some Basic Information

  • Follow the given rules. I am willing to take criticism and make certain exceptions in some cases, but don't count on it.
  • OP's word is final. If OP is not available, defer to CO-OPs.
  • No god-modding / meta-gaming. While the concept of balance within this RP may be questionable, please consult with players if you plan on doing anything that will affect them to a large extent.
  • As state above, be realistic in your actions. 1940s propeller planes won't do well against modern jets.
  • 3 strikes and you're out. I won't tolerate flaming or trolling of any kind here. Each time you're accused of doing so, you'll get one strike and a warning to stop.
  • A minimum requirement of 1 paragraph posts for anyone. We want to maintain some level of in depth content.
  • Keep WMD use (against other players) to a minimum, unless common consensus can be made. WE'RE going to avoid any world ending apocalypse.
  • Realism, what's that? Depending on your play style, your nation could be totally realistic or rather fantastical. All up to you, just nothing that's blatantly OP. Dieselpunk, steampunk, (other punk categories), alternative history, fiction (sci-fi, fantasy, etc) are all possibilities when creating / selecting (if you're taking RL ones) a nation / organization.
  • HOWEVER, remember that your actions should be realistic within the scope of the setting, and actions have consequences. Example: don't declare war on people expecting that nobody else will care.
  • There is no "victory": the goal of this RP isn't to wank off and win every single confrontation as your "favorite" faction. We're trying to create a story / scenario where things can develop.
  • Warhammer 40k and anything on that level is banned.

**NOTES:
-We are trying to limit the number of overly advanced factions (I'm looking at you, future tech states). IF someone does choose to do a nation / organization of the type, please keep it low key and small.
-Magic will be allowed (for those nations and groups that it applies to), so long as it isn't absurdly powerful.
-Your nation doesn't necessarily need to be from Earth, it simply needs to be able to fit on Earth, although nations originating from Earth-like worlds / Earth itself are preferable.

-Yes, you can be alien space bugs if you want (just tone it down).
-Yes, you can be some anime-esque nation of the sorts.
-Yes, you can be an insane atom-punk totalist dictatorship.
-Yes, you can be robo-stalin leading some red-alert USSR.
-Or you could just be a totally normal nation, up to you.
-You get the point.

-IMPORTANT - Organizations with no set location (companies, pirates, mercenaries, etc) can choose where to spawn / teleport to initially (if within another player's borders, permission is required). Most assets (buildings, infrastructure, etc) will come along.

-Nations DO NOT need to have their entire landmass ISOT-ed. You could honestly do some sort of rump state if you really wanted (ex: out of the USA, only the western states come along)

It’s a Military Junta, what more do I need to say? Well, it should be noted that it’s still progressive when it comes to racism and gender equality, with discrimination based on creed, race, gender or disability outlawed.

Economic Description:
The economy of the CNS’ South African Administration Region is built upon the capitalist system much like that of the old League and pre-unification Earth, with companies producing, buying and selling goods to the citizens of the region. Much like the rest of Earth post-Climate Wars, the SAAR is reliant on resources sent from the rest of the system and extrasolar colonies to fuel it’s industry. Of course, with the loss of those imports, the SAAR is going to quickly end up with severe shortages of raw materials.

Military Description:
The Regional Defence Force forms the core of the military forces of the SAAR and other Administration regions on Earth and the other worlds under CNS control. Under the direct command of the Regional Administration Council, the RDF acts as it’s main means of keeping order within their region, suppressing areas of possible revolt against the government. Responsibility for the RDF falls upon the Head of Military Affairs on the RAC. As well as the RDF, the Surface Defence Forces of the central government also have a presence in the SAAR, acting as a means of watching the RAC to stop it from having any funny ideas, with command of it falling to the SDF commander assigned to the region.

Army:
The core of the RDF, the Regional Defence Force Army is a decently trained and well equipped force, forming the bulk of the SAARs forces. Compared to the RDFA, the Self Defence Ground Forces are a very well trained and professional force, the SDGF is officially assigned to the SAAR in assisting it in quashing unrest, but unofficially it watches the RDF for possible subversion by dissident forces.

Both forces are equipped with similar equipment, with 69 ton McAllisters armed with 130mm Coilguns and infantry wielding coilgun rifles and MGs amongst other more conventional weaponry like ATGMs and VTOLs.

Strength: 540,000 RDFA Troops, 120,000 CNS SDGF Troops.

Navy:
The "navy" of the SAAR, the Regional Defence Fleet, is nothing more than a oversized coast guard, with it's dozen missile destroyers being it's only proper warships and under central government SDSF control. Outside of those ships, it primarily uses cutters and smaller patrol boats.

There is also the 270-meter long Mining Transport Icarus, that has become restricted to atmospheric flight due to it's engines being wrecked during the ISOT.

Air Force:
Focusing on transport and ground attack aircraft with fighters rounding out the mix, the Regional Defence Air Force is one of the less active branches of the RDF, most of the time just providing transport or escort for either VIPs or cargo.

Government Description : The United States Government, in its current rendition as of 2250, is an emergency Government with absolute military powers given to the Joint Chief of Staff. Congress has been butchered greatly due to the Great War and following wars of reclamation which has left only but the House of Representatives left to run the nation, with the Speaker of the House being the representative to the people alongside the remnants of Congress.

Amount of Industrialization : The United States of America has many large semi-automated (automated as in production belts) factories which produce guns and ammunition alongside materials for the greater use of the nation. The nation also has exponentially large amounts of local guilds and craftsmen who work for the local needs of towns and villages.
Economic Description : The United States economy is built upon trade of food, water, aid supplies and ammunition. Although farming is rather primitive with brahmin farming and limited irrigation, surplus food and water is heavily valued by the people. Towns that solely focus on water purification and production are known heavily throughout the nation with brahmin that carry large amounts of water, allowing the growth of the nation.

While food and water are usually self-fulfilling for towns, ammunition and energy is spread throughout the nation from national factories and local craftsmen. With energy cells and fusion cores being made to help power Government laser weapons and power armor, along with powering homes as slowly the nation electrifies.

Technological Level : Fallout technology both pre-war and post-war. Pre-war technologies being power armor, laser and plasma weaponry alongside stimpaks and rad-away. Vacuum tubes dominate all electronics, making computers weak but a surprisingly large and sophisticated amount of A.I and robotics.

Military Description The FUSA military is made up of a centralized chain of command, with orders from the top going down the line to the bottom. Sadly due to the now smaller nature of warfare, fighting against raiders, feral ghouls, super mutants and other dangerous wildlife. The military was downsized in organization for quick response, with infantry and ranger battalions made up of 500 and 100 men respectively. The battalion is now the largest military unit size and with Major being the most common rank. Head of it all is the Joint Chief of Staff, who resides as Commander-in-Chief

Army: The main force of the FUSA military is the Army. It was once a force made up of trained professional soldiers, joining or drafted to fight in the name of the stars and stripes. Sadly, that was a long time ago before the bombs dropped on the great nation. Now while a large portion of the military is still a trained band of warriors ready to die in the name of freedom, a good chunk of it is now made up of professional mercenaries who fight in the name of being paid.

Navy: The Former United States navy is a shamble of its former self. Though having the capabilities of producing more pre-war ships, the Government saw that it wasn’t necessary and a waste of both pre-war and newly made post-war electronics when no other enemy has yet to be able to challenge them at sea. Due to this mentality, the navy is left in a dire state.

Air Force: The Air Force is a strange place for the United States, it is seen as a test bed for a new future. With many seeing the possibilities of a form of warfare that only the United States could wage in this era of wasteland, although small in its current state it can be seen as the new future of the Former United States.

National Goals : The unification of all of the United States of America, supremacy of freedom and the United States Government, further pre-war-ification of the military to the former standards once sought before the Great War.


History :

2077 - War, War never changes. October 23rd showed the end of the world, the Great War between America and China which changed the face of history. While there were those on the surface had to suffer nuclear hellfire, many retreated to large underground vaults, sealed away to ensure the survival of humanity.

2160-2172 - Almost one hundred years after the war, the remnants of the United States Government made up of Congress, the Senate and central bureaucracy survived. Having survived due to deep underground vaults beneath Washington D.C, they emerged to a broken nation that they had to rebuild. Following the adoption of the Sandringham Act of 2172, the USA renounced its claims to the entirety of the United States and to only its territories that it owns in the northeast, constituting Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, majority of Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. No longer did they call themselves the United States of America, but the Former USA.

2227 - The Former USA barely is able to repel the great Raider Incursion into their territories, Baltimore and Washington D.C are hit the hardest by this attack which forces Congress to announce the Capital Protection Act. This causes the Big Red One power armored battalion to stay in Baltimore and defend it, removing it from the control of the Joint Chief of Staff and into the hands of Congress. Unknown to either of them, this would cause a major issue when dealing with future threats.

2230-2244 - The Former United States although growing in size and capabilities, is suffering from many major issues. Including anti-Government separatists in West Virginia and a rising acolyte of a doomsday cult known as Brother Cannite. Preaching that the United States is gone and it is their work that they end the nation that should’ve ended during the Great War. Slowly growing his power throughout New York and Pennsylvania, which the FUSA Government had little control over. The breaking point is slowly coming closer and closer.

2245 - The bastards did it, the Dark Cathedral, the stain on the Former United States led by Brother Cannite has risen up against the Government. This following a launch of a rebellion in West Virginia which claimed itself separate from the Former USA. The Chairman of Joint Chief of Staff Rexton Moore calls out for the hope of all Americans to stand in the name of the national anthem and to ensure that their nation survives, that America will not fall. That FUSA shall be a shining diamond in the darkness of the Wasteland and the traitors in Pennsylvania and New York who joined forces with the Dark Cathedral shall fall.

With the war beginning, it was at first thought the United States was weak, but it was surprising to see that the United States forces were able to push into West Pennsylvania, pushing along the borders of a large criminal gang known as the Junkers who owned Pittsburg and the western proportion of Pennsylvania. Once they saw that perhaps the United States was over extended, they attacked the Former United States which caused the Chairman to declare martial law and call upon the National Guard. United in its efforts, the FUSA military managed to continue its push against the Dark Cathedral, pushing them out of Pennsylvania whilst holding the Junkers at bay, even going as far as reclaiming the ruins and population area known as New York City.

This however, put a threat as to the North the Royal Canadian Commonwealth knew that a victorious United States could be a threat to the eventual reclamation of Canadian land, holding a meeting with the Dark Cathedral, they agreed to join their side and fight against the United States, but by then it was a little too late. The Former United States of America pushed out and reclaimed the other New England states, holding Albany in a pitch battle where Brother Cannite locked himself in his cathedral and committed suicide alongside many of his close council. The end of the Dark Cathedral was a boon to the United States of America and the Junkers backed out realizing they could not defeat the United States, citing realpolitik and making peace. The Royal Canadian Commonwealth knew it could do nothing and instead made a deal with the United states that if they do not interfere with the unification of Canada they will give Detroit, which the Chairman accepted. Thus FUSA found itself united and no longer directly at threat.

2246 - After rebuilding from the war, months passed with the year of prosperity coming to the nation in 2246. This was when industrial strength grew and more people believed in the Former USA, joining its military as the lands of the wastes became claimed by soldiers and hired mercs with Maine coming under the control of FUSA along with New York. This would be seen as the finest time to be alive as crime rates went down and the population exploded in size. This however, would be the last year where true peace could be found for some time.

2247-2249 - The reactor in Columbus rumbled a sleep threat to life, thousands upon thousands of feral ghouls rose up with a single cry, a horde seen like no other before. Overrunning her neighbors including the traitorous Junkers who fell to the claw and tooth of the ghouls, the Zombies led by some internal instinct of solidarity. But the Former USA would not allow it to rise. From November of 2247 to February of 2248 showed the large scale pacification of the Zombie Horde, reclaiming lost land and securing an alliance with the Eastern Brotherhood of Steel. Slowly with the death of the feral ghouls, many ghouls across the Former USA moved western to Columbus to find work in the irradiated lands. Along with this, the Chicago-Washinton Treaty of 2248 was signed between FUSA and the East BoS, giving Indiana to FUSA in return for technological knowledge and protection against future enemies.

Following this, it also brought the realization that the growth of the nation was going to be a problem without more land. Moving her armies from the north and the west, they prepared to take on the tribes of the South, which united under a Confederation. They were also dealt with surprisingly easy, as the tribals attempted to fight the modern military during these times...it ended with the slaughter of thousands as slowly they pacified the region. Settlers in towns and non-confederal natives enjoying the new rulership as if it never changed. The Harlequins of New Orleans were partially dealt with as the High Church and FUSA agreed to a nonaggression pact and finally, in the last remnants of 2249, the spiders of Florida were eradicated. The 101st showing their bravery against the tyranny of arachnid against man.

2250 - With the entirety of the East Coast under control, Congress with guidance from the Speaker of the House Jannet Wright and authorization from the Chairman of Joint Chief of Staff reviewed the Sandringham Act of 2172, declaring the law void and instead voted and passed a new law, the American Dream Package. This included the Unification Act of 2250 which declared the Former USA as the true surviving and ruling nation to be known as the United States of America, the replacement of the Capital Protection Act with the Modernization Doctrine, to enlarge the US Air Force, produce more power armor and armored vehicles for the military. Along with several smaller acts to create a refined and standard school system, enlarging the military and issuing an official currency that wasn’t bottle caps. Now the Former USA finds itself in an upturn and hopes to see a new future where America is once again United. Under the stars and stripes.

Continuing in their conquests, the Khadagan conquered Karakorum from the Oirats in the 16th Century, and forced the Oirats to submit. After this point, the Khanate growth would slow. In the years following the submission of the Oirats, the Khadagan began to absorb the Kirghiz steppes people of the Kazakh and Nogai. Tibet would follow after a Khadagan Khan began to patronize the Tibetan Buddhists, absorbed as a protectorate of the Khadagan. Wars with China and Russia over the next hundred years shaped the modern Khadagan state.

Those in the Siberian Wastes who prove to have a more cautious and mechanical aptitude are deployed to The Metro. A rail system that doubles as a massive nuclear bunker that way the war can continue even while hellfire reigns. The command is heavily centralized with commanders being chosen from the Siberian Wastes training and ruthlessly push both mentally and physically with those who fail will be stripped of rank and tossed into the Redemption Regiments.

National Goals : The Great Trial, the final war with not only Germany but the German people. In the end, if a single Russian remains but all of Germany is ashes, then the war is won.


History : With the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of the West Russian War many ideologies appeared. Republicanism, All the varied colors of Socialism, despotism, even Nazism and Burgundians spawned out of the fire. Among them, however, a single fortified city stood above the fire ready for not only the reunification of Russia but of the extermination of the German. First led by Gen. Dmitry Karbyshev in an authoritarian but still democratic state, this all fell apart as the aging General slowly succumbed to his age, and with him came a new man and a new government. Dmitry Yazov was the leader and model example of the Officer Clique around Karbyshev, dismissing the democratic principles his mentor taught him Yazov transformed Omsk into an army with a state. An army that rolled over central Russia with its wheels and treads until the final defeat of the Anarchists in the far north. Turning his ire east he blazoned a trail into the warlord states and destroyed the old order of the Western Revolutionary Front, put down the mad dog Direlwanger, erased the traitorous Aryan Brotherhood and killed all who resided in Perm under the pretense of being tainted by the evil of the Teuton. All of this along with many other victories secured the unification of the Russian states but one final gem was needed. Moscow, with the German Civil War dragging on the divided Government of Moscow there was no match for the zeal and crushing weight of the forces of Reclamation. With the double-headed eagle flying over Moscow. Now the time of preparation has ended, and the time for the Great Trial has begun and the German will burn and break forever.

History : With the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of the West Russian War many ideologies appeared. Republicanism, All the varied colors of Socialism, despotism, even Nazism and Burgundians spawned out of the fire. Among them, however, a single fortified city stood above the fire ready for not only the reunification of Russia but of the extermination of the German. First led by Gen. Dmitry Karbyshev in an authoritarian but still democratic state, this all fell apart as the aging General slowly succumbed to his age, and with him came a new man and a new government. Dmitry Yazov was the leader and model example of the Officer Clique around Karbyshev, dismissing the democratic principles his mentor taught him Yazov transformed Omsk into an army with a state. An army that rolled over central Russia with its wheels and treads until the final defeat of the Anarchists in the far north. Turning his ire east he blazoned a trail into the warlord states and destroyed the old order of the Western Revolutionary Front, put down the mad dog Direlwanger, erased the traitorous Aryan Brotherhood and killed all who resided in Perm under the pretense of being tainted by the evil of the Teuton. All of this along with many other victories secured the unification of the Russian states but one final gem was needed. Moscow, with the German Civil War dragging on the divided Government of Moscow there was no match for the zeal and crushing weight of the forces of Reclamation. With the double-headed eagle flying over Moscow. Now the time of preparation has ended, and the time for the Great Trial has begun and the German will burn and break forever.

History :

German settlers landing on the coasts of the Caribbean and what would become Texas, the descendants of these original colonies and their inhabitants would go into create the Texan Confederacy. Up until the 1900s, the Texan Confederacy had simply stuck to itself and it’s internal affairs, besides the occasional outlier. However beginning with business ventures, and soon a need to assert itself, by 1900 Texas had grown to a respectable regional force. Throughout the 1900s and onward, Texas would rise to become the backbone of a capitalist west after the first ISOT it went through. As things stand in 2040s, the USSR still lives, thus the Confederacy keeps its shield up for “freedom.”
