Why are so many nations named “the Kingdom of Womble”?

Why are so many nations named “the Kingdom of Womble”?

Postby Commoterre » Sat Aug 08, 2020 12:50 am

I just discovered the challenge feature of this game and went on a train of challenge random nations through the matchmaker. However, a significant portion of the opponents I met are called “the Kingdom of Womble” followed by a random number. I suppose this isn’t a mere coincidence. Are these all run by one player or is there any particular reason why there are so many Wombles?

Most likely run by a bored kid with nothing to do other than to flood a region with puppet states.

Either they're card-farming puppets, or someone's got a hell of a lot of puppets in one region.

Seems to be both. Those Womble nations are big chicken overlord nations.

More likely because of the "card subgame". You will find a whole bunch of "nations" like these, created by a few "main nations" only for the reason of "card farming" (which, imo, destroys the spirit and meaning of the card-game, but as we all know, human greed knows no bounds...) :(

The only thing I could think of to respond;

Womble. I Womble, you Womble, he, she, Wombles, the study of Wombology.

Also, apparently, this, according to the Oxford Dictionary;

"Any of a group of imaginary animals with long fur and long noses. They live underground in a large London park and at night they come out to collect the rubbish that people have left behind. They were invented by the children's writer Elizabeth Beresford in her book The Wombles (1968), and became very popular when the children's television series The Wombles was broadcast in the 1970s."

The puppets belong to His Majestys Most Loyal Kangaroos (I think) and they are used primarily to increase the size and average stats of Chicken Overlords. A few, but not most, of them are used for card farming.

They're a puppet series (probably the largest continuous one in the game right now) made solely for the purposes of moving chicken overlords up the regional nation count leaderboard. I haven't seen any of them farmed for at least a few months now, farming is just a secondary purpose if anything.

I personally find them annoying because they are all default anarchy nations, meaning that they have 97 in every freedom so there's a weird stat barrier at that point where 98 is top 1% and 96 is top 8%

Yes. I suspect they have some automated means of logging in to them to keep them alive. The Womble series accounts for most of the region's size but there are other contributors to the large size, such as Leto II Atreides with their "Spice Harvester" card farming puppets.
