What's your nation's ideal climate?

Postby American Liberty States » Fri Aug 07, 2020 3:08 pm

If you were to set up your nation's capital wherever you wanted, what is the ideal climate it would be in? What is the local landscape + flaura and fauna as well?

My nation's capital is in a subtropical climate like Bermuda where daily mean temperature ranges from 15.2°C in January to 25.8°C in July; humid subtropical climate (Cfa), plant hardiness zone 8b. It also has similar vegetation with palmettos around and a surrounding hilly landscape that is difficult to farm.

What's your nation’s ideal climate?

Postby Deacarsia » Fri Aug 07, 2020 3:30 pm

Deacarsia has a humid continental climate throughout the entire country (Köppen climate classification Dfa, Trewartha climate classification Dc) with extremes of both heat and cold. There are four distinct seasons, with hot, humid summers, and cold and often-snowy winters.

The warmest month of the year in Deacarsia is July, with a 24-hour average of 73.5 °F (23.1 °C). The coolest month is January, when the 24-hour average is 31.0 °F (−0.6 °C).

Most of Deacarsia lies in the plant hardiness zone 6b, while higher elevated areas lie in zone 6a. Deacarsia lies entirely within the Owenvra Plateau ecoregion, part of the Abalaisic mixed mesophytic forests, which in turn is part of the Albosiac temperate broadleaf and mixed forests biome. It consists most of mixed oak and mixed temperate forests, containing a wide variety of wildlife.

The capital of Deacarsia is Donphitt, which is in the western part of the country at the confluence of the Owenvra, Bracatim, and Woora rivers. The River Woora then continues through the Abalaisic Mountains to the Albosiac Sea.

Indian Empire has a wide variety of climates, but most Empirians tend to live in warmer regions that remain at least 20C for most of the year. However, temperatures in northern regions are traditionally colder and temperatures in eastern desert regions tend to be warmer.

Most ideal climate in the NASSR would be cool temperate of the Pacific Northwest which stretches from southeastern Alaska to Northern California.

Ideal climate for Kyiv and Minsk would be a nice 70° F, 22° C, with a body of water next to it, such as a sea or a river. Nice forests, and a good bit warmer.

The capital of Ninhundland, Frankdorf has a humid continental climate (Köppen: DFB) with cold winters and somewhat warm summers. Due to the proximity of a large lake nearby, the humidity is high all year yound causing lake effect snow. Snow usually covers the ground from November till April. Summers are slightly drier but still get enough rain to keep everything green. The coldest month is January with an average range of -10°C (14°F) and -1°C (30° F). The hottest month is July with an average high of 26°C (79°F) with the wamrest average low temperature being in August at 17°C (63°F).

Most of the country lives south of the mountains, with the south having a humid Hawaii-esque climate, with them being around the latitude of Florida in the north to Barbados in the south. This area has an average of 65 degrees in January, the coldest month on average, with the all-time low being 24 degrees during a deep cold front in February 2012, and July, the hottest, having an average of 88 degrees, and a record high of 108 in Heronberg during the Battle of the Fire in 2006. It's needless to say the majority of the population lives down here.

The mountainous region, which is home to only a couple dozen million in the summer, and dips below 8,000,000 in winter, has an average January temperature of 10 degrees, but the all-time low was at the peak of Mount Saint James, which got down to -43 (it's 12,400 feet up, go figure), but the average July temperature rests at 59 degrees, with the record high being 79 in Sula Pass, which was hit by a heat wave from the south in 1918.

The upper flatlands region, home to the capital, New Georgetown, has a more temperate climate compared to the rest of the country, with the January average being about 21 degrees, with the all-time low being in 1922 when a snow storm formulated in the mountains and moved north, covering most of the region in 2-9 inches of snow and -14 degree weather before dissipating towards early March, after it hit in late January. The hottest month in the flatlands is August, with the average temperature being 76 degrees, with an all-time high being on August 16, 2020, when a large heat wave pummeled the region for days and getting the temperature up to 112 degrees in Crossford Marsh which set the national record for hottest temperature recorded.
Large explosion at construction site in New Georgetown, 60 confirmed dead, over 200 missing.

EF2 tornado travels 32 miles, goes through suburbs of Heronburg, 5 missing, 2000+ injured.

The ideal climate it would be in is such that volcanic soil will produce much food. The land would be covered in tall trees, some as tall as twenty feet. The sea would be so salty that a man could float on it.

The local flora and fauna would be very similar to that of temperate forests.

I'm not quite sure what's being asked - whether this is a question about the climate of the capital, the climate of Radiatia or my ideal climate.

Because basically there isn't anywhere in Radiatia that has a climate I'd particularly want to live in. (Personally my ideal climate would probably be a Mediterranean climate, Csa or Csb).

The capital city, Xerconia, has a cold desert climate (Koppen BWk), with short hot summers and long freezing winters - not a place I'd particularly want to be.

As for the rest of the country, there's a handful of places on the coast that might be vaguely sort of okay for me, but mostly it's a miserable climate nationwide featuring extremely hot summers and bitterly cold winters.

----

An overview of Radiatia's climate, for the interested:

The climate of the Radiatian Federation varies considerably due to the country's enormous size and variety of latitudes and geographic features. Excluding coastal areas in the southeastern part of the country, the vast majority of the country is dominated by either a continental or arid climate due to most of the country's remoteness from the ocean.

Broadly speaking, Radiatia can be divided into three main climactic zones: The west is dominated by a humid continental climate, with higher temperatures the further south one travels; the east is dominated by arid or semi-arid steppes and prairies which become warmer and drier further south, eventually turning into the Great Radiatian Desert and the north is either a subarctic continental climate or tundra with short, cool summers and extremely severe winters.

The east coast south of Vatfer has the mildest climate in Radiatia, with the peninsulas of Chongluntz and South Chiridia being moderated by their proximity to the Oriens Ocean and the Gulf of Chiridia. Southern Chongluntz has a temperate, oceanic climate (Köppen Cfb) as does the east coast of South Chiridia, with these being some of the only areas in the Radiatian Federation that do not experience extreme temperatures. By far the warmest area in the Radiatian Federation is the southern tip of South Chiridia, which features a subtropical climate (which turns to a Mediterranean climate further west.)

The coldest part of the Radiatian Federation (sometimes known as the Radiatian Pole of Cold) is located in the central far northern region, in the innermost areas away from the coast including most of Polaris, Slibezoneer, Navanga, Pfantz and Kerpruss. While some of these areas experience short, warm summers they are known for long, extremely severe winters and average annual temperatures of below -30°C.

Certain areas of the Radiatian Federation feature an alpine climate, most notably the Drachensgard Mountains, the Chongluntz Alps and the Yissel Mountains of Alayenia. These three mountain ranges also broadly represent the boundaries of the three main climate zones in Radiatia - for example the Great Radiatian Desert runs from approximately the Yissel Mountains in the west to the Chongluntz Alps in the east.

Some parts of the Radiatian Federation are prone to extreme weather events. Dust storms are not uncommon in desert regions and blizzards can strike almost any part of the country during winter. Central states are prone to tornadoes and heavy storms due to their location in a conflict zone between the cold air moving down from Polaris and the arctic states and warm air moving up from Chiridia and the Great Radiatian Desert. Hurricanes and cyclones are not uncommon in the Gulf of Chiridia or along the east coast.

The hottest temperature ever recorded in Radiatia was 51°C (123.8°F) at Meramon, Detzertscha.

The coldest temperature ever recorded in Radiatia was -68°C (-90°F) at Baag, Polaris.

The actual capitals (Mayara, Gehrenna, Senoren, Maethoru) lie probably a bit too far north. It's more easily defensible, but its agricultural yields are lower than they could be. Better soil and a slightly warmer (year-round) climate can be found just a tad south (where Aminey is).

Konigsberg has a humid continental climate, with cold, cloudy, moderate winters and mild summers with frequent showers and thunderstorms. Average temperatures range from −1.5 to +18.1 °C (29.3 to 64.6 °F) and rainfall varies from 36.0 millimeters (1.42 in)/month to 97.0 millimeters (3.82 in)/month. In general, it has maritime climate influences and therefore is damp, variable and mild, with vast temperature differences between July and January.
