Hilarious as always Jakker. Triggers can be wrong, variance can be a bitch. Don't need shitty gifs from you on something that's hit TBH a lot too.

I hear so often from certain defenders about how easy triggering is, so I figured there had to be another reason why the miss happened. Plus watching that meme over and over again legit makes me laugh. Laughter is a great medicine as they say.

Yep. If I threw shade every time I saw raiders botch a trigger i'd be banned for spam.

I can say that in my nearly 10 years in this game, I have literally never seen or been part of an occupation raid attempt in which the group did not move because the trigger was missed. Feel free to enlighten me otherwise. Tag raids? Sure. Those triggers are often set up very quickly and often are dealing with multiple targets. Trying equate tagging and these kind of things is silly though.

But one specific target with time to plan? And then not moving because it was missed that much? Please do make fun of raiders if that ever happens.

Guys, gals and non-binary pals,

No doubt you are all waiting with bated breath as to the results of The Black Hawks’ raid and occupation of South Pacific.

Well I am here to dispel some rumours that we’ll be there forever, indeed our objective has been completed. We held the region for a little over a week against multiple liberation attempts from most of defenderdom, and succeeded in banning or ejecting 300 defender puppets.

The operation involved many complex decisions, the initial update was not one of our best, we had to work around the banlist maximum, deal with many high influence defender sleepers, as well as the “largest updater forces in history”.

Fortunately, your favourite raiders are full of ingenuity and three of our members successfully utilised the tactic of “update bending” to throw off several liberation triggers, resulting in the largest updater forces in history sitting in their jump point, long after their targets updated. For this we have to thank Dakota, Refuge- and Sakana who put in some stellar work, I’ll post what Dakota has to say about it.

Operation Aquila's Comet

In a move that Three Silly Hawkies Incorporated™️ decided to try out, update bending was brought back to Gameplay to boop the famous Godgamer Triggers that Gameplay never hears the end of. The godgamer triggers were turned into 47 seconds (huh) the minor after the hit, and with the last two updates of the op, the three silly hawkies bended update enough to throw off triggers twice in a row the last two updates. Extra Shoutout to Refuge- :)

The Three Silly Hawkiez:
COL Miss Bad Life Choices
SGT Refuge-
SGT Sakana

Whilst the raid began as lone sleeper op of yours truly, it has truly grown beyond that. This raid would not have been possible without the support of Balder, The Land of Kings and Emperors, Social Technocratic Union, the Europeian Republican Navy, the Autumnal Court of Caer Sidi, Lone Wolves United, HYDRA Command, United Kingdom, Karma and Hartfelden. These numbers were crucial to our success, and only one small delegate push interrupted an otherwise successful operation.

However, we would also like to acknowledge that this metagame would be nothing without our erstwhile opponents in defenderdom. We appreciate all the hard work you’ve put into liberating us, or not. They say a picture tells a thousand words so here’s a link to a lot of them.

Memes

We’d also like to welcome the myriad RPers and regional natives to the wild world of r/d. It’s a big step to get involved in this world and we’re glad you’re keen to play with us. That said, if you’d like to roll with an org that actually jumps on its triggers, you’re welcome to join us in the nest!

Our final gift, thinking of Johanneslanden who proudly displayed the Hawkmilton flag for the duration of the raid despite being a native, is a song. I present to you “We’ll be Back – An NS Parody”
You say,
We annoy you so much,
You don’t even want us to stay.
You cried,
Out for help from defenders,
But into bans they fly.
Why so mad?
Remember we made an arrangement when we last went away
Now you’re making us sad,
Remember despite our estrangement,
We’re your pals.

We’ll be back
Just you see
You can’t hide your delegate from me
We’ll be back
Time will tell,
Maybe you’ll all still be here as well

Raiders rise,
Defenders fall,
We’ll see each through it all,
And when push, comes to shove
We’ll be back with a hundred pilers, to remind you of our love.

Da da da dat da dat da da da da ya da
Da da dat dat da ya da!
Da da da dat da dat da da da da ya da
Da da dat dat da

You say,
Our tactics are broken and you can't go on
You'll be the one complaining when I am gone
And no, don't change the subject
'Cause you're our favourite test subject
Our salty, argumentative subject
Our eternally competitive subject
Forever and ever and ever and ever and ever

We'll be back like before
We will fight the fight and win the war
Not for your love, not for your praise
‘Cause you’ll be salty 'til your dying days
When you're gone, I'll be sad
So don't throw away this thing we had
'Cause when push comes to shove
We will update bend all your liberations to remind you of our love

Lyrics by Aquila

last time i recall "update bending" being a thing was when Bob Moran created 'suchasmallthing' at the start of update and put 1200 pups in there in order to throw off defender triggers. that was obviously a long time ago

i'm honestly surprised this method isn't used more often

What happened now is the following: Raiders have, for the South Pacific raid, assembled the largest bonks of defenders in modern raid history (really just a few years) at over 420. These are the memories that last a lifetime.

Definitely a landmark operation for both sides. The defenders showed unprecedented turnout, and the raiders' use of update bending to throw off the triggers was very clever. I get the feeling that this will have quite an impact on R/D, as both raiders and defenders try working out ways to use these new tactics to their advantage.

This op is looking to be extremely memorable.

Well done to those who managed to keep us at bay, was frustrating to be so close to stopping this both before and during the raid. Shame that this has led to Lep leaving the game :(

So, the one who said this:
https://www.nationstates.net/page=rmb/postid=40148439
I have had enough stress in life lately, to the point where even I worry about my mental health at times. And I cannot keep letting my free time activities drag me down the way it has for 13 years. I cant keep worrying every night about the next raid the way I used to, and it took this raid to give me that perspective.

Looks like the occupation of South Pacific gave him clarity. His issues with stress are what led to him leaving the game.

A specter is haunting NationStates - the specter of Communism! All the powers of Defenderism have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this specter, but The Black Hawks decided to meet this nursery tale with a raid of capitalists, emperors, kings, telemarketers, and other generally wrong-thinking regions.

Sitting around the Nest one day, after a rousing discussion on economics, The Black Hawks gazed upon NationStates from high above. Unfortunately, they were disgusted with what they saw. As far as the eye could see, NationStates was brimming with fascists, emperors, landlords, the bourgeoisie, and other enemies of the proletariat. Needless to say, the Hawks held an emergency meeting to respond to these threats.

Image
A Hawk, upon noticing the oppression of the proletariat

The Hawks quickly agreed that they had to act with haste, before oppression became even more entrenched. However, they had some difficulty agreeing on methods. Jeen, holding a laptop that would not turn on, proposed throwing it at the fascists. Twobagger suggested rallying the working class and liberating them by announcing a raid on the forums, but the other members noted that this is literally impossible. Dakota thought that a raid was a good idea, but proposed using ✨✨sparkles✨✨. Refuge, the most well-liked of all the Hawks, quickly agreed with this, and the Hawks immediately knew what must be done.
Image
A group of Hawks, led by Aquila, chased the bourgeoisie over the entire surface of the globe. The bourgeoisie had nestled everywhere, settled everywhere, and established connections everywhere, but they were swiftly uprooted by the Hawks. Jinkies stole the weapons used by the bourgeoisie to fell feudalism to the ground, and turned them against the bourgeoisie itself. Dax lined up the so-called "emperors" and "kings" who exploited their subjects, and ripped their crowns from their heads before casting them to the ground. Aquila wielded a guitar, emblazoned with a slogan that might be reportable, and drove it into his fascist adversaries with a sickening crunch. And, of course, what Revolution would be complete without the avatar of Bernie Sanders rooting out counterrevolutionary elements? Not Ours.

Image
Hawks, immediately after receiving a GO command

Finally, as update drew to a close, the Hawks looked out at what they had accomplished. They saw the ruling classes trembling at the coming revolution.

They saw proletarians, ready to be freed from their chains at last.

They saw a world to win.

Glad to entertain. We had actually just talked about telemarketing in our communism chat, so I knew I had to throw it into the raid if I had a chance. Nothing against any current or former telemarketers, by the way - it's (most of) your bosses that I'm not fond of.

And I was gone for the "best" of the Bitely years, so that wasn't intentional - but it looks like the WA Elite has struck again, one way or another.

One of those definitely came to mind while preparing this raid and writing this report - you'll notice that the phrasing is always "emperors and kings" instead of the other way around. But no, as much as their names or governments might imply a hierarchical society, those regions are great friends and we're very fortunate to have them by our side.
