Location: The headquarters of the Nation is located in Detroit, where Master Fard Muhammad founded the organisation in 1930. The Nation of Islam has thousands of followers across the United States, mainly amongst the urban poor in major cities such as Chicago and New York and the wider states of Michigan, Illinois, New York and New Jersey; as well as across the Deep South, especially in Georgia and Louisiana.

Jim Crow: The legacy of Jim Crow discrimination law and institutionalised racism still continue to be very much alive across the United States. The radical Black separatist ideology of the Nation of Islam has caused panic and hatred amongst the defenders of the status quo, leading to regular eruptions of violence between white supremacists and Nation of Islam members, especially in the Deep South.
Crackdown: Local police forces, sherrif departments and recently also the Federal Bureau of Investigation are known to engage in ever increasing crackdowns, espionage activities and even suspected assassinations of NOI members in the past years. The call for separation and claim of land that so far belongs to the US, has caused Washington DC to designate the Nation as a group of "special interest" to law enforcement. While not outright banned, the distance between the current situation and outright insurgency is short.

History: The Nation of Islam was founded on the 4th of July 1930 by Master Wallace Fard Muhammad, who since then has been known as Fard Muhammad, an enigmatic preacher of unknown background who established the first chapter of the Nation in the industrial metropolis of Detroit. It is still a mystery to the wider public where Fard Muhammad exactly came from, what his origins were and how he came to his ideology. The only publicly known knowledge is that the Master "came from the East", and established the Nation of Islam in direct opposition to the United States of America, and with the goal to "call the Black man of America to embrace Islam". In his own words: "My name is W. D. Fard and I came from the Holy City of Mecca. More about myself I will not tell you yet, for the time has not yet come. I am your brother. You have not yet seen me in my royal robes."

According to Master Fard Muhammad, the Black race of America is the "Lost Tribe of Shabazz", a mythical Black nation from Africa that was brought to America in chains to work as slaves to the white man. The Nation of Islam's Declaration of Independence worded it as follows:

"They [the Black race] must learn that they are the original people, noblest of the nations of the earth. The Caucasians are the colored people, since they have lost their original color. The original people must regain their religion, which is Islam, their language, which is Arabic, and their culture, which is astronomy and higher mathematics, especially calculus. They must live according to the law of Allah. They must give up completely the use of stimulants, especially liquor. They must clean themselves up – both their bodies and their houses. If in this way they obeyed Allah, he would take them back to the Paradise from which they had been stolen – the Holy City of Mecca."

The 1925 stock market crash, and the economic and social consequences of the Great War that have been felt across the globe for decades, had utterly impoverished the working class of America to the point of despair. To make matters worse, racism, discrimination and police brutality against the Black community created a de facto sub-class of poor Blacks that lived off the scraps of the elite. The call of Master Fard Muhammad therefore found highly fertile ground.

In a matter of years, tens of thousands of Black and mixed-race Americans had accepted the call of the Nation and took the Shahadah to join Islam. Chapters of the Nation of Islam sprang up like mushrooms across the country, especially in the industrial centers of the north-east. Violent police crackdowns and lynch mobs only served to further enrage the African American nation, leading to membership to soar even higher. In 1933, Master Fard Muhammad established the Fruit of Islam (FOI), the uniformed security and disciplinary wing of the Nation. FOI members are known for violently engaging with white supremacist groups and even law enforcement. Armed with batons and even firearms in open-carry states, they guard and defend the Nation of Islam with fierce loyalty.

By 1936, the Nation of Islam has established itself as a political force that is not to be underestimated in the United States. With the elections of 1936 coming up, the Nation has significant power to influence the African American voter base. While the Nation does not participate in US elections directly, and seeks to secede from the United States entirely, the leadership of the NOI has not yet decided on what approach to take regarding the upcoming elections.

There was another split down the line, KPD are more authoritarian versus the Spartacus' more revolutionary, libertarian socialism.

Originally, I would have opted for Louisiana and Georgia, but due to that being the powerbase of the America First Party in this RP, and because the NOI was founded in Detroit and Chicago, I'd pick that region as my main base of operations.

Well, here's the problem, the US as a whole isn't gonna allow that. The civil war proves that states cant secedes for political reasons and crackdown in Utah shows that states can't secede for religious ones either. You almost shot yourself in the foot by giving the political and religious rivals a reason to band together against the NOI. Heavens forbid if it was the KKK campaigning and not Huey Long.

Also OP, Pan-Arab and Pan-Islam were movements in the 1940s-60s

Well, but the premise of this RP is that. new Civil War is definitely in the cards anyway. Of course, the NOI hs to play its cards right and wait for an opportune moment, that is fore sure.

I have a question thou. Are you more pro-black or pro-Islam? Since I dunno if around the 1930s the Pan-Islam idea was much of a thing at all.

At this point in time, the Nation of Islam is mostly aimed at Black Liberation. Basically, the idea is that Islam is the original faith of the African, but their syncretic approach to religion also appealed to Black Christians.

In RL, the Nation had a lot of ties with Pan-Islamic movements and nations such as the Libyan Jamahiriya and the Islamic Republic of Iran in later decades, but that obviously not yet the case in this RP time frame.

Gotcha, yeah that's pretty much the assumption with the whole influence system with the US states, there's gonna be some abstraction to take into account.

And yeah given the setting, with America becoming incredibly divided and polarized internally as with many other major nations in the world. While it's obvious that Al Smith can do what he can to crack down on the multiple factions that will be tearing America apart, it'll ultimately be a fool's errand as the country quickly collapses and enters into a Second Civil War. Utah was basically America's second Bleeding Kansas (well except I'd imagine more like Waco). At this point the writing is on the wall.

You realize Kerensky would want the Russian Empire back, including your lands. Sure Kerensky might not be as brutal as Stalin, but he would still want the Confederation gone. And for the moment, Stalin isn't going to invade the Confederation. Plus, Kerensky is quite litteraly near hopeless since he is stuck in Archangelsk.

My OOC opinion: Kerensky is a threat Stalin is going to tackle. Once Kerensky is gone independence movements would be able to gain more power since they wouldn't have Kerensky lording over them to stay loyal to White Russia. Maybe it's best to let the USSR take out Kerensky. And maybe the Confederation can expand into the Baltics by taking Lithuania and then reform the Polish-Lithuanian Comonwealth if so desired.
