This is true even if it’s running in the background.

None of it was funny. Glad it had a reason to fuck off.

It was barred on corporate devices and personal devices contractors use for work months ago.

While people will put forth the "but American apps collect our citizen's personal data too", they're collecting data about their own people which would happen regardless if apps existed or not. In this case, a foreign opponent is collecting our citizen's data (if the claims are true) and that's no good.
Every app collects personal data in some way, shape, or form, but it all depends on where that data is going. It's all an ethics issue that even the best scientists in the world can't solve.

Every app that uses Google location services does this.

Google being domestic does not in any way make them not an opponent.

The library was fixed but a handful of apps haven't updated. Notice the "and 32 other iOS apps" bit. This isn't a TikTok thing.

If a piece of media is deemed to pose a legitimate threat to national security, it can be banned. Probably the most famous example of this is when Lincoln banned any media company (Newspapers, journals, etc...) from publishing any piece that showed the Confederacy in a positive light or else risk heavy fines or forced dissolution.
Yeah, this has been a major debate topic in the government for a while now, and the general consessous is... They're not really sure how constitutional this is either.
