Widespread anger and dissatisfaction with the government in Washington has led several states within the United North American Alliance seceding from the nation.

At 8:00 AM today, a special envoy from Chicago arrived at the White House to deliver to President William Dudley Pelley Jr. a note from the State Legislation announcing that the state of Illinois would no longer consider itself part of the republic. Claiming that this was a fundamental right of any civilized people - and quoting extensively from the Declaration of Independence - the note also stated emphatically that the recent developments within the federal government, most importantly the legalization of several fascist and white nationalist movements, as well as increasing "governmental tyranny", meant that the newly formed "Free States of North America" would be cutting all diplomatic relations with its new neighbor.



Mere hours after the first state severed its ties with The United North American Alliance, others followed suit with almost identically sounding declarations. Hopes of a peaceful separation were quickly dashed when several demonstrations in the affected states in favor of continued membership in the Republic turned bloody and a number of federal officials were assaulted. In a few cases, supporters of President Dudley - or just people accused of insufficient zeal for independence - were lynched by the crowd. Interim President Norman Smith of the Free States of North America has called these events "regrettable but understandable acts of civic retaliation against governmental overreach", and promised the perpetrators presidential pardons if they came forward.



He further demanded a complete withdrawal of all federal troops from the territory of the new state as well as a demilitarized zone at the border to avoid "further misunderstandings". President Dudley has refused to even entertain the notion and ordered the military to restore order in the states in rebellion.



In response, the National Guard in the Free States has since been called to arms; many citizens within the secessionist states have also joined the National Guard in droves. With war now a reality, many analysts suggest that foreign intervention may be the deciding factor in which side comes out on top.


Belligerents of the Second American Revolution

1. The United North American Alliance (UNAA). Since the election of sitting president William Dudley Pelley Jr., a former member of a fascist party based in the state of Georgia, the UNAA has seen massive changes to its system of governance and policies. Critics point out to the increasing powers of the federal government signed into law by Pelley and his supporters, evidence of electoral fraud and gerrymandering policies, increased government endorsement of fascist and ultra-nationalist groups, crackdowns on opposition parties, increased surveillance, repealing of anti-discriminatory laws, ending of affirmative action policies, federalization of state police forces and National Guard, as well as Pelley's past as evidence of the road America is on to Fascism.


2. The Free States of North America (FSNA). The FSNA consists of states that voted against Pelley during the 2032 elections; many of the governors within the states, as well as the populace in general, condemn the actions of Pelley and formed the Free States Bloc not long after Pelley's election into office. The FSNA claims it stands for human rights, libertarianism, anti-fascism and democracy; whether or not it lives up to its promises is yet to be seen.


3. Neutral States. These states were the main swing states during the 2032 elections, and their populace, and indeed local government, is divided on the issue of which side to join. For now, their state governors have decided it to be best not to take sides. Although they do not secede, they also forbid their own populace from joining the armies of either side. Changes in the future, however, may cause them to swing towards one side, and they may end up being important, much like they were in 2032, in the course of the war.

The Second American Revolution has been a hot topic in Farrenskere public discourse. A newly formed socialist government, succeeding decades of dictatorship, its members and supporters are faced with their first real debate over foreign policy in context of the nation's newly formed political values, one of which being opposition to fascism. Despite resistance from right-wing entities within the national assembly, the Democratic Socialist led government was able to secure entrance into the conflict by securing a positive referendum vote and the votes of the centrist caucus within the Liberal Democrat party. It is expected to remain a topic of some contention within the nation for sometime, but with majority support the new government moves forward to prove itself.

Acting in accordance with the results of national referendum, and thereafter National Assembly legislation, with the powers delegated to me at this time, I hereby sanction mobilization of expeditionary forces, as well as humanitarian and military aid, to be disbursed to the Free State of North America. We also pledge to act to the fullest of our diplomatic abilities to negotiate on their behalf on the international stage, and in future dealings concerning their enemies.
