Emphasis mine — Are you sure that this is really the take away from this, so much so that you even put it first? Because as written, that tells your members "don't say faggot/nigger/retard because the NSGP elite will yell about it again", rather than "don't say faggot/nigger/retard because it's wrong in almost all cases". I certainly hope that this wasn't your intent.

We didn't write that during this meeting. That's always been the writing of the rule since we established the server rules. Rule 7 was less changed and more elaborated upon during this, as the subsections were added,

Which I think make it clear and reasonable. So to answer the implication, no.

That's clearly not what it says. The post is quite clear. It essentially informs all users LCNers or not, that they need to be mindful about everything they post and say as they will be held accountable of any of their actions.

Voting Stances on WA General Assembly vote: International Transportation Preclearance Act and WA Security Council vote: Commend Vippertooth33
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations
Image

The League of Conservative Nations WA Delegate, San Carlos Islands released the LCN WA Delegate's official position on the WA General Assembly Proposal at vote: "International Transportation Preclearance Act" this afternoon. San Carlos Islands has encouraged all LCN WA members to vote AGAINST the resolution in the following statement:

Vote against today's resolution because it is simply useless bureaucracy. The preclearance stations mentioned in this resolution are just border crossing stations set before the border of a certain nation, effectively meaning that individuals have to pass through two different ports of entry before crossing an international boundary.

I foresee this exacerbating the problems created by the necessary evil of ports of entry including increase strain on road and waterways and confusion. This in turn would have a negative effect on the global economy by increasing delivery times as well as decreasing payable miles for truck drivers and sailors.

For the above reasons, I urge a vote Against this proposal.

Secondly the League of Conservative Nations WA delegate San Carlos Islands released the following statement on the LCN's stance on the Security Council proposal at vote: "Commend Vippertooth33" this afternoon. In this statement all LCN members are encouraged to vote FOR the proposal.

Today's resolution increases the security efforts of the LCN by commending the enemy of our enemies on the far-right. Vippertooth33 is responsible for the destruction of many hateful regions that don't work in the best interests of the LCN.

For the above reasons, I urge a vote For this proposal.

Voting Stances on WA General Assembly vote: Repeal: Freedom to Seek Medical Care II and WA Security Council vote: Commend Frieden-Und Fruedenland
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations
Image

The League of Conservative Nations WA Delegate, San Carlos Islands released the LCN WA Delegate's official position on the WA General Assembly Proposal at vote: Repeal:"Freedom to Seek Medical Care II" this morning. San Carlos Islands has encouraged all LCN WA members to vote FOR the resolution in the following statement:

Resolutions like Freedom to Seek Medical Care II abhor me. Resolutions where the author so blatantly looked passed the flaws of his resolution in order to get a shiny General Assembly Author badge make me absolutely sick. These resolutions should disgust you, the citizenry of the League of Conservative Nations too.

The problem with Freedom to Seek Medical Care II is the flaw its author so carelessly seemed to overlook which lies within Clause 4 and prohibits a member nation from taking legal action against its medical tourists except for those violating World Assembly law. This is problematic as it would allow medial tourists to commit crimes in the nations hosting them without fear of justice or punishment.

Thank the author of Freedom to Seek Medical Care II for allowing foreigners undergoing radiation therapy to rape the citizens of your country, thank him for allowing foreign women who need mammograms to murder in your county, and thank him for allowing foreigners getting thyroid scans to commit acts of terrorism in your country.

This ends now!

For the above reasons, I urge a vote For this proposal..

Secondly the League of Conservative Nations WA delegate San Carlos Islands released the following statement on the LCN's stance on the Security Council proposal at vote: "Commend Frieden-Und Fruedenland" this morning. In this statement all LCN members are encouraged to vote AGAINST the proposal.

There literally seems to be no reasons to commend Frieden-und Freudenland. While I understand they are probably a cool person, writing issues and being an integral member of the community in Forest isn't enough to get a shiny badge and recognition by the entire Security Council.

Commendations should not be given out so lightly as they diminish the efforts of individual nations who actually deserve them.

For the above reasons, I urge a vote Against this proposal.

Voting Stances on WA General Assembly vote: Integrity in Law Enforcement and WA Security Council vote: Commend Nurmengard
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations
Image

The League of Conservative Nations WA Delegate, San Carlos Islands released the LCN WA Delegate's official position on the WA General Assembly Proposal at vote: "Integrity in Law Enforcement" this morning. San Carlos Islands has encouraged all LCN WA members to vote AGAINST the resolution in the following statement:

his resolution is an assault on the privacy of law enforcement officers accused of committing crimes on the job, thus I strongly urge a vote against.

One of the more important human rights is the right to privacy and to have your personal documents secure. This resolution not only shreds those rights apart, it only applies the new standard to a certain part of the population, constituting discrimination. In countries with a developed judicial system, if prosecutors want the documents of accused Law Enforcement Officers; they can take all the legals means to get them unsealed as they would with any other person.

What's the difference between a criminal cop and a criminal garbage truck driver? Nothing. This resolution is anti-police and anti-civil liberties.

For the above reasons, I urge a vote Against this proposal.

Secondly the League of Conservative Nations WA delegate San Carlos Islands released the following statement on the LCN's stance on the Security Council proposal at vote: "Commend Nurmengard" this morning. In this statement all LCN members are encouraged to vote FOR the proposal.

Nuremgard is an active part of the issues writing community who greatly needs to be commended for their work.

Writing issues is a difficult feat which includes having a worthy idea, putting it to paper, posting it on the nationstates forums to receive a lot of help and criticism, writing a finial draft, and then having the final draft approved by the nationstates moderators. Nuremgard went through that process seven times and this deserves to be commended by the entire security council.

For the above reasons, I urge a vote For this proposal.

"Commend The Red Fleet"

The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations

The League of Conservative Nations WA Delegate, San Carlos Islands released the LCN WA Delegate's official position on the WA General Assembly Proposal at vote: "Land Reclamation Regulation" yesterday. San Carlos Islands has encouraged all LCN WA members to vote AGAINST the resolution in the following statement:

Vote against this resolution as it is first and foremost a major infringement on the national sovereignty of World Assembly member nations. Furthermore, this resolution is a over regulation of the economies of member nations and slows down efforts to alleviate problems spurred by over population.

Secondly the League of Conservative Nations WA delegate San Carlos Islands released the following statement on the LCN's stance on the Security Council proposal at vote: "Repeal: Commend the Red Fleet" yesterday. In this statement all LCN members are encouraged to vote FOR the proposal.

Vote for this resolution because it proves The Red Fleet was never worthy of commendation. The World Assembly should only give shiny badges to regions who have conducted actual raids against questionable regions.

Vote for this resolution because it proves The Red Fleet was never worthy of commendation. The World Assembly should only give shiny badges to regions who have conducted actual raids against questionable regions.

Few problems with that. The Red Fleet has conducted raids against fascist regions. The reason the repeal is getting put through is mostly relating to some nonsense they got up to while not fighting fascists (i.e. raiding nonfascist, and early leaders getting over their heads and ending up bonked). My recent interactions with TRF, while quite brief, have been very pleasant.

Overall, I'm still supporting the repeal, but I don't feel that my reasoning would be adequately expressed just through SCI's announcement.

Voting Stances on WA General Assembly vote: Reducing Disease Vectors and WA Security Council vote: Condemn Northern Borland
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations
Image

The League of Conservative Nations WA Delegate, San Carlos Islands released the LCN WA Delegate's official position on the WA General Assembly Proposal at vote: "Reducing Disease Vectors" yesterday. San Carlos Islands has encouraged all LCN WA members to vote AGAINST the resolution in the following statement:

Vote Against "Reducing Disease Vectors" on national sovereignty grounds, but also on common sense grounds. Why should nations with climates that aren't suitable for mosquitos, ticks, and fleas have to contribute research to how those organisms spread disease?

Secondly the League of Conservative Nations WA delegate San Carlos Islands released the following statement on the LCN's stance on the Security Council proposal at vote: "Condemn Northern Borland" yesterday. In this statement all LCN members are encouraged to vote AGAINST the proposal.

Vote Against "Condemn Northern Borland" as they literally haven't done anything inherently wrong and half the resolution focuses on the nominee's NS stats.

If you have any questions please feel free to respond to this post. Thank you.

LCN Foreign Affairs Department and WA Delegate Change;
Voting Stances on WA General Assembly vote: Protecting Sites of Religious Significance and WA Security Council vote: Repeal: Commend Wintony

The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations

Greetings NationStates Forum community. The LCN Consulate has appointed me as the region's new Director of Foreign Affairs and WA Delegate. I look forward to working with the international community on behalf of my region.

For my first official act I have released the following positions on the current World Assembly Resolutions:

Voting Recommendations for Current World Assembly Resolutions

For General Assembly Resolution: "Protecting Sites of Religious Significance"

As World Assembly Delegate, I urge all WA members within the LCN to vote FOR this resolution. This resolution promises strong protections for sacred sites and only minimally intrudes on member states governments. I see few negatives that can arise from this resolution's passage.

For Security Council Resolution: "Repeal: Commend Wintony"

As World Assembly delegate, I urge all WA members within the LCN to vote FOR this resolution. I agree that the original commendation was flawed and the commendable acts were of limited scope not worthy of commendation in the august body of the World Assembly Security Council.

As usual, please feel free to ask questions or reply to this message.

Voting Stances on WA General Assembly vote: Patient Travel Freedoms and WA Security Council vote: Commend Sierra Lyricalia
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations

This evening I released my voting recommendations for the current WA votes to the LCN.

Voting Recommendations for Current World Assembly Resolutions

For General Assembly Resolution: "Patient Travel Freedoms"

As World Assembly delegate, I urge all WA members within the LCN to vote FOR this resolution. It is a well written and thought out resolution aimed at improving worldwide healthcare at only a minimum intrusion on the member governments.

For Security Council Resolution: "Commend Sierra Lyricalia"

As World Assembly delegate, I urge all WA members within the LCN to vote FOR this resolution. This nation's contributions to the international community are many and are laudable. I have had all three of the issues they authored and recall the WA votes mentioned in this proposal. Sierra Lyricalia is worthy of commendation by this body.

As usual, please feel free to ask questions or reply to this message.

Voting Stances on WA General Assembly vote: Repeal "Supporting and Valuing the Humanities" and WA Security Council vote: Commend Twobagger
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations
Image

This evening I released my voting recommendations for the current WA votes to the LCN.

Voting Recommendations for Current World Assembly Resolutions

For General Assembly Resolution Repeal: Supporting and Valuing the Humanities

As World Assembly delegate I urge all members of the WA within the LCN to vote FOR this resolution. It is a very well written resolution that points out egregious errors within the writing of the original legislation. These errors include poor writing that basically make the original legislation ripe for abuse and misinterpretation.

For Security Council Resolution: Commend Twobagger

As WA delegate I urge all WA members in the LCN to vote FOR this resolution. The legislation shows that Twobagger, in their capacity as an officer of the government and military of 10000 Islands helped defend other regions from invasions, liberate other regions, promote interregional cooperation, and created new defender tactics that have saved regions. Twobagger is clearly a laudable nation and has been of great service to the international community for over a decade. This nation is worthy of a commendation and I will proudly vote for this resolution.

As usual, please feel free to ask questions or reply to this message.

Consulate Briefing on Recent Events
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations

Image

It is typical of the Consulate to brief the Council of the Republic on a weekly basis, a routine which will continue tonight, however, we are choosing to additionally compile a broader brief of recent LCN events for the public and interregional community, as it has been a mildly eventful week.

DIPLOMATIC OUTREACH

Following his recent inauguration as Director of Foreign Affairs, Paleocacher has brought activity back to our World Assembly Delegation management and has begun new diplomatic outreaches.

Our embassy construction with the Third Imperial Union will conclude shortly, at which point a Diplomatic Agent will be deployed to the region as an Ambassador.

DoFA Paleocacher has reached out to some of the regions that we saw a breakdown in relations in July with mixed results.

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS

A series of Constitutional amendments were brought to fruition by the Consulate recently. Underlining denotes added text, strikethrough denotes removed text.

Article I Section I Clause I

    I. Defines the following terms of legal status within the League and its jurisdictions,

Article II Section II Clause VII

VII. The Consulate may publish its institutional and judicial opinions, interpretations, and precedents to build upon regional statutes and policies.

These may be stored in a common location and managed by the sitting Consulate. This compilation shall be considered an extension of regional legal documentations.

Article III Section II Clause I

    I. Through formal convened votes, the Council of the Republic may create additional institutions, statutes of law, or publish documents of advice for the administration of the region.
Council of the Republic Bills are documents proposed as regional statutes. Upon passage they shall be designated as regional laws.
Council of the Republic Motions are documents and excerpts of non-binding advisement to other institutions or bodies of the Republic.

COUNCIL AFFAIRS

The Council has repealed Council of the Republic Law 7, which provided stipulations and rules for the management of foreigners present on LCN platforms. The repeal of this law means the authority over foreigners and their affairs within LCN jurisdictions has returned exclusively to the judgement of the Consulate of the Republic (and by extension, the League's Police Force) and the Defense Administration.

Consulate Update on OOC Administration

Postby Quebecshire » Mon Nov 23, 2020 3:17 pm

Consulate Update on OOC Administration
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations

Image

For those previously unaware, in an OOC-capacity, the Consulate handles the Founder Account and OOC Administration in our region and for its offsite platforms. This authority is further delegated to our OOC moderation team, the League's Police Force. In July, we faced criticism for our policies allowing certain terms and our defence of those policies, including policies that have since been rightfully reversed and were previously defended by poor assertions Some engaged in discussions on the topic in bad faith, spurring defensiveness and some levels of animosities. Others engaged pleasantly, and we thank them for that. Regardless, over the last four months, we have re-assessed several stances and policies and have come to make certain reforms as far as moderation is handled.

These changes that have come to fruition over the recent months generally include the following.

  • Revisions of the server rules to provide more specific and directed goals.
    • More recently than the broader change, a specific addition to rules to better approach flaming and baiting.
  • The complete prohibition of the f-slur often used towards LGBT individuals in all cases.
  • The clarification of the complete prohibition of any racial or sexual orientation related terms that may have not been previously explicitly prohibited, including spelling variations that some consider being less-offensive.
  • The transition from MEE6 to Augustin Android v2 for moderation for better logging, appeals processing, and et cetera.

We are committed on all fronts to continuing to better our region for the enjoyment and stability of our membership. If anyone has any questions or concerns, they can be directed to this thread or to my Discord, Cubic#1608. Edit(s): Spelling error(s).

Voting Stances on WA General Assembly vote: Repeal "Landfill Regulation Act" and WA Security Council vote: Commend Kenmoria

The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations
Image

This evening I released my voting recommendations for the current WA votes to the LCN.

Voting Recommendations for Current World Assembly Resolutions

For General Assembly Resolution Repeal: Landfill Regulation Act

As World Assembly delegate I urge all members of the WA within the LCN to vote FOR this resolution. It is a very well written resolution that points out how overreaching the original legislation was. It also points out how the original resolution mandates the unnecessary creation of oftentimes redundant and underused regulations and agencies in member nations.

For Security Council Resolution: Commend Kenmoria

As WA delegate I urge all WA members in the LCN to vote FOR this resolution. This nation's actions in the WA including the passage of key legislation such as the "Data Protection Accord" and "Reducing Food Waste." Additionally this nation is dedicated to assisting WA members edit proposals and is a key member of the forum community of the WA.

Voting Recommendation for Death Penalty Ban

Postby Protocol rendezvous » Wed Jan 27, 2021 1:59 am

Voting Recommendation on Current WA General Assembly Resolution: "Death Penalty Ban"
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations
Image

Authored by the Director of Foreign Affairs: Paleocacher

As WA delegate I urge all member nations in the LCN to vote AGAINST the current resolution on banning the death penalty. Not only is the resolution overreaching and unnecessarily strict but it brings real-life problems into the game. Each nation has its own statistics and populations. Many nations in NS have different species to humans or have a wide variety of cultures. The problems with the death penalty outlined: that evidence shows its not a deterrent, that it is substantially expensive, and that it disproportionately targets minorities and the mentally ill, are real-world problems, not in the world of NationStates. Real-world issues should have little bearing on policy in-game. Finally, the resolution has one glaring exception. The exception to the death penalty allows countries ruled by military governments such as juntas or statocracy's to continue to pursue the death penalty. If they declare an insurrection or civil conflict to be a time of war then the government could execute its citizenry at will. The WA either needs to not regulate the death penalty or to go all-in on it based on in-game issues with it.

Voting Recommendation on Current WA General Assembly Resolut

Voting Recommendation on Current WA General Assembly Resolution: "Protecting Sapient Life"
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations
Image

Authored by the Director of Foreign Affairs: Paleocacher

As WA Delegate I urge all WA members of the League to vote AGAINST the current WA resolution at the vote. It is horrendously overreaching. It has gaping flaws within the second clause:
"prohibits members from deporting any person to a nation where a said person faces a reasonable possibility of being sentenced to death for the crimes they have been charged with committing."
It could be interpreted that due to the use of the word deporting, instead of using the word, "extraditing" that if a country where the death penalty is utilized asked for the WA nation where the criminal is to extradite them to face the death penalty, then the WA nation could do so. Deportation is the expulsion of people who the host nation doesn't wish to have there. Extradition is the legal process of sending a criminal from one jurisdiction to another to face charges.

It could also be interpreted that this clause is a gross overreach of WA power on the immigration systems of member nations. If it prevents the deportation of persons charged with capital crimes in non-member nations, and they don't commit any crimes in the host nation, then it essentially forces member nations to grant asylum to persons accused of capital offences. While this may protect persons fleeing oppressive regimes that want to execute them for shoplifting or practising a different religion, it may also force WA member states to host terrorists or murderers fleeing death sentences in their home countries. Such instances should be evaluated on a case by case basis not entirely banned.
Vote no.

Regional Update

Postby Quebecshire » Tue Feb 02, 2021 12:14 pm

REGIONAL UPDATE:
Newspaper Project and Out-of-Character Moderation Adjustments

Image

REGIONAL NEWSPAPER ANNOUNCED:

The Consulate has created the new office of Press Chairman to be held by Gagium. The office will be tasked with overseeing the creation of the new regional newspaper, the League's Chronicle. We are hoping to have the first issue be released on February 7th.

If you want to subscribe to the newspaper and be directly notified via a nation tag on every issue release, do one of the following (anyone may subscribe):
  • Reply here on your main (or state your main) and say you wish to subscribe.
  • Telegram or Direct Message Quebecshire or Gagium and give your main nation name and say you wish to subscribe.

The content is either meme titles or copy-pasted FCN articles, ignore the content, this is just to showcase the formatted draft. The draft was made before the title was decided, as well.

OOC MODERATION REBRANDING AND ADJUSTMENTS:

The server administrators have decided to rebrand our moderation staff to make it appear less like an IC government agency. Functionality remains the same as a separate OOC moderation team, but we decided it would be useful to also outwardly appear that way.

You can find the dispatch for our mod team here: LCN Server Moderation Team Dispatch

Summary of Changes,

  • League's Police Force (LPF) is now Server Moderation Team
  • Chief of the LPF is now Head Server Moderator
  • Deputy Chief of the LPF is now Deputy Head Server Moderator
  • Captain of the LPF is now MDA Server Category Moderator
  • LPF Officer is now Server Moderator

Direct questions or concerns regarding OOC moderation to one of our administrators. Our administrators are Quebecshire, Eminople, and Terranihil.

Foreign Affairs Outreach
Image

The League has spent the past months primarily working on domestic improvement. Because of this, we have not had a primary focus on the status of our embassy regions, especially with those we are not in regular contact with. Now that it is the opinion of the Consulate that we have completed our goals for these reforms and that the region is functioning well domestically, we have begun to look outward to re-assess our relationships and will be conducting a much higher level of foreign affairs activities.

Our administrative team, in consultation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DoFA), has made the decision to close embassies with the Red Wolf Alliance (see OOC admin portion of this update as well), India, and the New Western Empire for a variety of concerns relating to OOC misconduct and server management.

Alongside these closures, the Consulate and DoFA have made the decision to pursue a variety of new embassy relationships, as reflected by the six embassies being constructed currently at the time of the lodging of this update. At the time of this update being posted, embassy construction is in progress with Hartfelden, Auctor, Lorania, Anteria, Warzone Asia, and the Isle of the Wooloo Kingdom. We will continue to monitor the progress of these embassies and relationships and we are in varying stages of preparing to seek or seeking relations and embassies with other regions.

Foreign affairs updates can be expected in the coming days and weeks, and any concerns relating to foreign affairs can be directed to a member of the Office of the Consulate and Paleocacher. There will also likely be an update relatively sooner regarding likely events for the LCN's upcoming five year anniversary since our founding.

Server Administration
Image

A few notes on server administration for this update,

Diplomats and individuals associated with the Red Wolf Alliance have been banned from our Discord server. It is our opinion that the server in question is an unsafe and concerning environment. The decision to ban their diplomats and associates was concurrent with the decision to withdraw embassies and was made following a brief on the concerns with the RWA and their content provided by Spode Humbled Minions, a Server Moderator and the Director of the Intelligence Agency in the League.

We also banned the user known as the "United States of Edingbridge" after Diplomatic Agent Amaan land informed an administrator of their conduct by forwarding the update published by Andusre in Thaecia. The user was present on our server until they left earlier today, and they were banned after having departed. We thank the Thaecian administrative team for their quick update that allowed us to ensure the user will not be able to return to the server.

On a less worrisome note, we have eliminated the role of "MDA Server Category Moderator" from our server management team. Previously, the Monarchist and Democratic Alliance, our protectorate, and a region whose active population is primarily a group of real-life friends, was allowed to have a private server category on the LCN server for their Discord communication, only viewable by administrators and the chosen MDA moderator. However, we have eliminated the category and the relevant role due to inactivity and being informed that the users who mainly used it have created a non-NS Discord chat for themselves. The users remain on our server as normal, and Republic of Dragons will stay on the Server Moderation Team as a standard moderator at the discretion of the Head Server Moderator.

For questions or concerns about server administration and similar OOC affairs, you can check this dispatch and then contact Quebecshire, Eminople, and Terranihil if your inquiry was not resolved within the dispatch.

Edit: Phrasing issue regarding embassy closure.

Voting Recommendation on Current WA General Assembly Resolution: "Protecting Sapient Life"
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations
Image

Authored by the Director of Foreign Affairs: Paleocacher

As WA Delegate I urge all members of the WA within the LCN to vote FOR "Right to Assemble." It is a well-written replacement to the recently repealed original legislation that closes the loopholes of the original. It is also the one written by the author of the repeal resolution so it has a good basis.

I also urge all WA members to vote AGAINST the Security Council resolution "Commend Northern Borland" because it jokingly supports child labour and dictatorial regimes. It is a comedic resolution and not one to be taken seriously. The Security Council is supposed to be a serious place and this resolution is a mockery.

IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF EMBASSIES WITH SUNALAYA
The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations

Image

The League of Conservative Nations has held diplomatic relations with the region of Sunalaya for over four years through a mutual on-site embassy. However, today the Office of the Consulate and Director of Foreign Affairs Paleocacher were notified of a letter from their government. The letter demanded a withdrawal of all LCN diplomats from the region due to World Assembly voting decisions. It was stated that failure to leave within 72 hours would result in removal and a cessation of relations. The letter is below.

The Office of the Consulate as Heads of State instructed the relevant Diplomatic Agent, Washingtonian Republic, to assess the situation. He was met with hostility and no immediate answer. Screenshots of their responses are below.

The Consulate will not tolerate this hostility towards our diplomats, particularly regarding their expulsion. We furthermore do not intend to hold relations with regions who expel diplomats over issues relating to the World Assembly that they failed to bring up to our World Assembly Delegate in the first place. While it is regretful that the long-lasting embassy will be coming to a close, Consul of the Republic Terranihil has finalized embassy closure and our Diplomatic Agent to the region wil be withdrawing after informing them of this update.

These are confusing events that have unfolded but the blatant passive aggressive (arguably just plain aggressive) against our diplomat is the utmost show of the toxic nature I did not know existed in such a region. I would like to give a hand to the diplomat, Washingtonian Republic, for keep a high level of professionalism whilst being attacked by the server members and I hope this region can reconsider how they conduct themselves on the platform.
